[My replies are gonna be spotty today. I know I didn't do anything yesterday and I'm very sorry. It was my last year of Candle Nights with my found family before we all go our separate ways. And today it's right back to my 9-5 (er 3-11 in my case) I'll be more responsive tomorrow cause I'll have two days off.]

grief is so crazy like what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. does she know i loved her. i miss her so much. i catch myself doing things she used to do. i wish i could call her. i miss her so much. i do a crossword puzzle. i cry while washing the dishes. does she know i loved her? my heart feels like a hummingbird. i miss her so much. what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. what if i forget.

Rein took his axe in one hand and took their hand with his other as he gently led them back the way he came, "You may do as you like at my camp. Nothing I have is worth much. I don't have guests, usually, but I'm happy to share." He assured.
At the curious question, he made a face. Not an angry one or even annoyed. It was sort of sad, in a way. Exhausted, "Uhm, no. I'm afraid I don't get that privilege." He wasn't sure how to explain that.
"I was born from an affair. So I'm not-... Like them. They're pure blooded. I'm tainted... Wrong. Their words, not mine." He got quiet for a moment.

It was late into the evening, Rein was at his campsite, laying in his tent trying to get some kind of sleep. He always had trouble getting back to sleep after a nightmare, but he could swear that tonight, he heard someone walking around.
With a heave, he sat up, wanting to go investigate, not eager to get back to his unrestful rest.
He put on a light shirt and pants and picked up his axe as he followed the sound, trying to be as stealthly as his stupidly big feet could carry him. He wondered who would be wandering? And if they would be afraid or intrigued like him.
Only one way to find out!

"Mm. City. It's like uh... Really tall buildings with more people than would be in a town. People bustling about, businesses, a mix of wealthy and poor. Usually with the poorer in less nice clothes and houses... It's... Not very pretty, in my experience." Hey, at least he was honest, "My former family is wealthy."
When they bowed and greeted him, he let out a gentle laugh, "Aran. Rein Aran. In this area, half-elf is simply my race. Not my title." He assured, "But just Rein is lovely. Alariss is a very nice name. I assume it's... Fey?" He raised a brow, looking them over.
He bent himself to their level and smiled, though his eyes held concern, "You seem... Lost." The large man pushed his lips to the side, "Can I help with anything? Even just a place to rest? I have food, a fire pit, and an extra bed roll."

As the other approached him, he didn't look worried, even as they reached out and touched his ears. He blushed a little at the contact, not quite used to someone being gentle in this way. He never knew how to react. It always flustered him a great deal.
"Half." He corrected, gently, "But uh... I'm afraid my elven roots aren't really strong. Even if they were my family is far removed from the typical type. They've spent a long time in the city as nobility, treated like royalty. They're spoiled, barely lift a finger. They didn't even choose to tap into latent abilities."
"I'm afraid I never heard them mention the Feywild outside of old folklore books my brothers read when they were children." Rein's tone was polite. He didn't seem upset at the mention of his family. Indifferent, mostly, but he wasn't towards them. He was kind to them.
"What can I call you?" He smiled, "I'm Rein."

Rein took the soap and made a spinning gesture with his finger, "Turn." He said gently, "I'll get it." He assured, soaping up her hair and running his large hands through it, massaging her scalp.
At the question about his shyness, he groaned, thinking as he pushed his lips off to one side, "I was... Not always... Made to feel good for being this way. I was already a half elf born of a pure elf family, but I had to have issues with my gender. It's... Complicated." He tried to explain, "I didn't want you to stop liking me, I suppose."
"Things for me are made harder when people realize my body isn't that of a typical male. Suddenly I'm weak and need protection, even though I can squish people easier than a child can squish a grape." He scoffed. Real venting. Not just surface level lovey-dovey bullshit. Rein was letting her in. That was rare.
"You take good care of your hair. Does blood have biotin or...?" He smirked, deciding to change the subject to Orin, instead.
Those words snap him out of it a little, "Give me a fucking second..." He sighed, undoing the braids on the side of his head, releasing his ponytail, and finally, kicking off his trousers.
He moved to the water like he needed it to live, face so red that the red scar on his cheek disappeared under the color. He sunk a bit into the wet and looked at her, "Need me to get your hair and back? Seems hard to get all the blood..." She was covered in it, after all. But then again, so was he.

Rein let out an involuntarily squeak as she stripped, covering his eyes on sheer habit, "Wow! You are just-! You're not shy at all, huh?" His voice is a few octaves higher than usual, only uncovering his eyes when he remembered he'd promised to bathe with her.
He hesitated before removing his shirt, his torso littered in horrid, deep, scars, skin healed over bits of chunked off flesh, making a permanent concave line in his skin. Not just one. Many. So many. Her taking his life didn't even seem to matter on his body of scars.
He paused at his pants, placing a hand over his face and taking in a breath to calm himself. In the water. He could do this. No biggie. No... No worries... Okay. Why weren't his hands moving, anymore? She was so pretty! In the water! Waiting for him. And he was stuck.

For a brief moment, all the color drained from Rein's face before returning with a firey passion, going cherry red. He specifically always chose to bathe last to avoid... Well... Outting himself, really. He wasn't sure who knew, but he wasn't sure who cared either.
However, he also knew Orin didn't like the word no. He knew that for certain. So for a moment, for the first time, he was alive and also completely quiet, body stiff. A moment that seemed to drag on in Rein's brain for some time, eyes darting as he searched for a way out that would never come.
"I-..." He looked at her face, saw her covered in his blood, noted the distinct taste of a bitter potion lingering on his lips and knew she tried to revive him before Withers. He groaned and covered his face with one hand and nodded reluctantly, "Okay..." He spoke quietly, "J-Just... I-I..." He stammered, "Let's make it fast."
Embarrassed. He was actually embarrassed. Rein took her hand, quickly pulling her along, avoiding eye contact with everyone and looking at the ground.

Rein snorted at her answer, tears falling from his eyes, once again at the startling laughter that rose from his belly. He placed a hand on his face, loosening his grip on her a little, letting his head fall back, "No-no. You're right. I'm a pest." He agreed.
He took a breath, still giggling to himself and wiping away the tears as he got to his feet, helping her to hers, "I'll go get stuff for a bath for you. Okay?" He offered, but wasn't really offering. Not actually. More like he was just gonna do it whether she wanted him to or not.
He brought back soap and a towel and smiled at her, touching her cheek, "You go first. I'll wait." He assured, ever the gentleman.

Her eyes, actually. Rein likes things that appear abnormal or odd. He thinks those cloudy eyes are captivating.
