I've always found it an interesting tidbit that Poe was raised by Shara's father during the war and wish we had more information on him considering he's most likely passed by the time of Freefall. I'm also curious as to where Poe was during those years considering it wouldn't have been Yavin-4. I'm just eager for more info about the Dameron-Bey family as a whole.

Yeah, I've also wondered about that, and we got SO close to finding out in the comics. The Empire - or at least, Tarkin's apprentice - knew what planet Shara's father had Poe on, because she threatens Poe and Shara's father to make Shara talk (which can I say, the Empire has done a lot of fucked up things before, but I think that one might be one of the things that floored me the most. Threatening a barely one year old child's life just to make his mother talk...what the fuck).

It at the very least implies that Poe is a space baby, which I love so fucking much because the concept of space babies is my FAVORITE thing in the absolute world, and I think it really adds more depth to the "I belong to the stars" line if Poe was genuinely born amongst them, and I can't be certain but I do believe around that time, the Rebellion was mostly just living on cruisers and didn't have a set planetary base yet.

Sorry this took so long, but I finally got around to finishing him, this is Dusk Choco Cookie

…Okay I’m gonna be honest, I mostly finished him up because I felt I needed to keep drawing today, and he just needed his outfit finished. So in all honesty, I don’t really know/remember what his personality was. And unfortunately my old notes don’t have anything other than him being a guy

Well, I do know he’s a swordsman like his father and grandfather, and he’s the quiet sort. Despite this, he’s not really similar to them in personality, though I don’t know how to describe how he differs other than he focuses on his individuality more than anything? Like yes he’ll protect his home and people, and he enjoys doing so, but he’ll only rule out of obligation, not because it’s something he aspires to do

He’s very fond of gardens as well, and finds fireflies quite beautiful, because they’re like little living stars. I don’t really know where he’s living, whether it’s the Dark Cacao Kingdom or not, so I don’t know how often he’s realistically seeing them. Though most likely he is living there, so floral gardens are probably more of a rarity. But maybe that’s why he treasures them so

Currently he travels the world, looking to hone his skills (though thankfully not looking for any cursed objects of power)

And I think that’s about all I have for him in all honesty. Sorry, it’s really not much, especially considering the wait time (I mean it’s only been a few months, as compared to others, but you know)

Well anyways, on to design things

Dusk Choco technically isn’t named after any specific food, more like dusk and also chocolate. His mom’s name is Starlit Choco, so I figured it should be star/night themed, and Midnight Choco I had already saved for my Dark Cacao/Moonlight kid, so I ended up with Dusk Choco. Doesn’t really mean anything, but I think it sounds pretty nice regardless

I came up with the hair long ago, so I don’t really remember the process behind that. Today’s sketch work was mostly the outfit, which I sort of ended up centering on the belt and gauntlets I had already made prior

For some reason I decided to look up 500s England outfits for potential inspiration here. Not really sure why other than one of yesterday’s Transformers episodes taking place in that time period with Arthurian legend, and Starlit Choco giving me vaguely fantasy England vibes when I looked at her. I do get it’s entirely wrong to Dark Choco’s theme though

But I mean, I got some neat looking outfit ideas out of this picture, so I used it for some basis and went from there, mainly the bottom tunic and the side cloak

I also want to say I got some inspiration from this one outfit I have tucked away somewhere in my photos for Dark Cacao references, but I don’t know how much it came through

The pin for his cloak was originally supposed to be an Oreo piece like his dad, but I didn’t like how it looked, and I eventually instead changed it to be a rose like his mom

I wasn’t really sure how to do his colors other than blues, but I gave him the silver because I thought it looked good with them (also Midnight Choco was blue and gold). The pinks were originally a gold-ish color, due to me looking up pictures of dusk and seeing some yellow in there. But I thought it clashed a bit too much with the blues so I tweaked it to the pink it is now

Honestly I think I like the pink, and it and the blue cloak kind of reminds me of the Sleeping Beauty dress colors. Which I think kind of fits the vibe I was going for?

But yeah overall, I don’t think he turned out horrible. Maybe he could have been better, but I still think he turned out alright as he is now. Maybe a little too European though

But yeah, that’s Dusk Choco. I hope you at least enjoy him!

Ooh, I think I said I pretty much ship everything. I just don't have much to say about shipping and about head canons but I think everyone should kiss each other.

My top 3 are Kabumisu, Farcille and Laishuro but like, I very much multi ship and like fanart of everything.

As someone who enjoys Azulaang I absolutely hate that it gets co-opted into Zutara nonsense so often. They do that to a lot of ships and almost always use it as a way to bash Kataang or Maiko, both of which i actually like. It makes looking for fics and art difficult. You might have seen the poll going around for interest, and well, it convinced me enough to start this up. A zine for Yellowjackets! Yeah!

The plan is to make this a relatively small but hopefully exciting project to cross the current lack of things between seasons. Think you have a good idea? Submit it!

What is a zine? "Zine" is short for magazine. What a Yellowjackets zine would entail is a small, digital booklet with artworks, writing, collages, lists, etc. related to the show that it's all connected to. There are zines that have a print run alongside digital versions, but to keep it all running smoothly, I'd like to keep this digital only. So I can't offer compensation in financial means. This is first and foremost a passion project, and also things would get tricky on a legal front if there were to be any money involved.

So if I want to contribute, it can be anything? Basicallly! But there are some hard rules I would like to be followed for it to stay coherent.

Canon Compliant. Writing or art, hard AUs aren't really something for this zine. It's a little celebration of the show that is there, and tonally there might be too much dissonance if AUs are included in this. Guesses at the yet to be seen months in the Wilderness, or in the present day are very much welcome!

Self-contained works. Putting chapter 1 of your fic in a zine isn't really ideal. For art this is easier to accomplish, but written submissions should be completed within the pages they are on.

Not just shipping. Yes, I know, shipping is big. But like I put in the first point, I would like to keep things more generally on events, plot, characters, and a neat discussion of it. There's of course degrees to how much you can ship within canon in a show like this. It's totally cool if you put something in that is (Basically) Canon (f.e. TaiVan but also JackieShauna) or Has Strong Potential (f.e. LottieLee, MistyNat). Don't come to me with something like Shauna/Walter. Explorations of characters and relationships are of course okay! But don't make it a smut fest.

Nothing too NSFW. This is Cannibalism Show (TM) we're talking about, so there is some leniency. But let's say if you would rate it as E on Ao3, then maybe try to get it a bit lower in rating or think of something different.

(Previously) Unpublished works. This may be a given, but a zine is the most fun when it's full of original content. You are of course free to publish what you made on your own accounts/profiles once the zine is online.

Other than that, it's pretty free to fill in for yourself! What can be published should be able to go in a hypothetically printed magazine, but if you would write fic, and essay, compile a mixtape list, make some meta newspaper article on the events, graphics, collages, a poster design, or banger fanart, it's all up to you as long as it gets you excited to work on it!

I'm splitting them up in written and graphic types of contributions, but there's room to give a pitch for your specific idea.

Practical stuff!

Max wordcount for written contributions should be about 2500 words. I'm not going to be too strict, but keep any overflow within reason.

Graphic works should be able to be displayed well on a 2100x3000px canvas on. This is the size of page I'm using at the moment.

How much time would there be to prep? For now I'm thinking of putting the final deadline on November 30 so hopefully everyone will have time to work on their submission (from scratch). I also gotta get the hang of a publishing design program lol.

if i could change one thing about the owl house, i'd change the main point of conflict in clouds on the horizon from "odalia's okay with genocide, alador isn't" to "alador is willing to listen to his children, odalia isn't"

first off, i'd make it so that odalia *didn't* know what the draining spell actually did. her knowingly participating in genocide just serves to overshadow her pre-established abusiveness, and feels like the writers didn't trust the audience to understand that she was Bad and deserved to be cut out of her family's lives on the basis of abuse alone.

(also it. kinda doesn't make sense why she'd be okay with it? like she is greedy and short-sighted. but the draining spell would negatively impact her personally, and while the idea of her being so distracted by greed that she acts against her own interests is extremely neat and an apt commentary on real billionaires, it's just,,, a big stretch.)

instead, i'd have her dismiss the truth with "i'm not going to put such a good business deal in jeopardy because of some unfounded suspicions" and "i trust the emperor far more than i trust a bunch of children"

next, i'd replace the scene where king talks to alador. while it was a really nice scene that revealed more about alador's situation and kinda laid the groundwork for king being helpful in the next episode, it's not the best way for alador to learn about the draining spell in my version of the episode. because in that scene, alador believes king is a coven scout -an authority figure- so trusting what he says about the day of unity is not any kind of challenge for alador.

instead, i'd make it so that *emira and edric* are the ones who tell him about the draining spell (maybe king helped the twins escape? that gives him a purpose within the episode and there's a fun parallel with him freeing the collector later).

i don't think the twins were deliberately looking for alador, but they saw him sitting out there as they broke out and they had two choices: sneak past him and continue trying to stop things themselves, or talk to him. and they don't quite trust alador to listen and do the right thing, but amity seemed so convinced when she told them he'd listen, and they trust *her*, so they decide to talk to him.

and he listens and promises to put a stop to it. and he tells them to go find safety, and emira is like "but shouldn't we stay and help/make sure amity is safe" and alador tells her that it should have never been her responsibility to handle everything (i am starving for her whole parentified older sister thing to get addressed can you tell) and promises that he's going to do better for all of them, and apologizes for being so negligent -and Maybe explains a bit of why he was like that and what odalia did to him (if i could fit it in without it being clunky and keeping it clear that it's an explanation not a full excuse)

so the twins go to take shelter at hexside (no more "wtf did he just leave them in gay baby jail???" that we had in canon) and alador and king go confront odalia/save amity like in canon

and then in that confrontation, perhaps alador brings up the abuse and overwork (since it maybe wouldn't come up in my rewritten scene w him and the twins like it did in canon's scene w him and king). and the general vibe w him confronting her is less "this is the final straw" and more "i should have done this years ago"

and overall i'd want the episode to keep the "he is also a domestic abuse victim and, at times, messed up because he was acting out of fear and trying to protect them" that it introduced in the canon version of the episode (i know some people have criticized the show's choice to make him a victim too and while i can understand some of their reasons i overall liked the concept so it stays) while keeping in mind the "sometimes he messed up because he was trying to do what was 'best' for his kids whilst ignoring what the kids actually wanted/needed" that they established in reaching out

In fanfics / fandom in general Crime Alley residents usually adore and trust Red Hood. So that got me curious- do you know if there is any canon basis for that?

Like- I personally can see him being 'the lesser evil', but he was still their local crime lord. And often fandom distorts things like this to hell and back.

(doubly so if they want to go 'oooh batman sucks so much that crime alley is low-key against him because red hood is a billion times better')

Yeah afaik there is no (definitive) canon evidence of this. There are probably moments that can be read like that, but Jason is famously a pretty unreliable narrator so ¯\ _(ツ)_/¯. Idk as long as theyre having fun?

I think his recent solo (The Hill?) was supposed to be about Jason and the actual residents of his territory but i have no idea if that comic succeeds without the usual “oh jason is soooo much better then bruce because he does (something bruce has literally been doing and helping with the last 8 decades through Wayne Industries) unlike that stinky Batman” trap.

Canon aside (because canon cares very little about both consistency and civilians), like all things, i think Red Hoods relationship with citizens of Gotham is going to be complicated. It really would depend on if the person he killed was your beloved uncle who gave you help and listened to you and didnt let the creepy cousin slide onto the couch with you, or the guy who slapped around your aunt. And sometimes thats the same guy. And sometimes you didnt want him to die, you wanted him to change, and now he cant. Because Red Hood killed him.

And i know i haven’t actually answered your question (sorry) but i really think the end of Jasons Red Hood identity, if it ever happens, should be through a rival gang slowly taking over his territory, doing all the things he says he’s doing, and finally revealing themselves to be made up entirely of people who lost family to Red Hood and his methods. I think it would be neat.

this hc is kind of self-indulgent BUT it has basis in canon since karen is canonically an enjoyer of stopmotion AND really old christmas movies. but i think karen LOOOOOOOVES the rankin/bass set of classic holiday straight-to-tv films. she used to watch them as a kid and now as an adult she can appreciate the animation work and laugh at the stupid plotlines and just genuinely enjoy herself. she has as many of the movies catalogued at her house (primarily in digital form i think) and watches them whenever she’s bored or sad. this is a trait i think she shares with mingus (who likes rankin/bass for a COMPLETELY SEPARATE REASON that is also a self-indulgent soulread) but once again i go into this a bit more in my secret project i need to desperately start working on, so i won’t get into it here >:-) you’ll just have to wait and seeeeeee

When I say "normies," I mean non-Sonic fans. Specifically the kind of non-fan who has a preconceived notion of what Sonic is like. Often, it's not a flattering one.

Likewise, it is not my intention to gatekeep when I say "play the games": it's just a plea for the general public to stop throwing games canon under the bus and try to see what is actually there.

I don't have beef with film fans in general. The people I have beef with continuously assert that their favorite spinoffs are better than the games. That they're equal replacements for the games when the games form the core canon.

Personally, I don't think the films are faithful to the games; they have been seriously watered-down to appeal to a mainstream audience and appear to be afraid of leaning into the "Sonic-ness" of the series on which they're based.

But, at the same time, I'm not gonna go around dictating what people can and cannot like. My nephew watches the films every day. I'm not gonna tell him "YOU'RE A FAKE FAN" over the media he enjoys. I just think if you (general you) are going to enter spaces for Games!Sonic discussion, then it would behoove you to be as familiar with the source material as you can.

Heck, at this point, I'd take people watching LPs of the games. Not a perfect system, but it's better than nothing.

Sometimes I wonder if BITE model of social control applies here, the extremes to which more virulent fans cannot handle the presence of different opinions. Thanks. Recently I've been banging my head against a wall because of SH2 remake stuff moreso than anything else. Look politely to that person they are able to read narrative and view it however they wish. No hate to them, they are absolutely right in that certain things are canon and certain things arent.

Here is a list of canonical things that Gojo has done regarding Geto/Gege has put in canon

-calling them his one and only

-saying his heart and soul knew otherwise

-an entire plan working on the basis that seeing them back from the dead would be enough to stall him

-having their deaths happen on December 24th which is a day considered super romantic in Japan.

-having Kenjaku state that to be creepy and refer to it as a date despite having used that emotional connection to manipulate them

-the urge to protect Gojo being so strong Geto briefly took control of his own body FROM THE AFTERLIFE to try and stop Kenjaku

- Gojo recognised Geto by scent after TEN YEARS (?!?!?!?)

- Geto specifically wore a Gojo- kesa because of the name

-Geto told a girl he would refer to her as Sato because he liked the name more

I get not reading it that way, you wanna read them as friends that's fine but you cannot argue they can't be read as displaying romantic affection and that people reading that are seeing something that isn't there. It doesn't need to be stated as romantic but there is 100% love there and the entirety of the plot is driven from that and the break down of their relationship and the paths that leads them on.

Also (and I'm getting real tired of pointing this out) no one would say shit if either of them were female. If they were heterosexual people would be writing articles about this being the most romantic narrative in a manga regardless of if the canon remained the same and we never saw either of them act on their feelings.

I mean come on Gojo didn't give us love is the most twisted curse of all with no romantic basis.

It doesn't fucking matter. Everyone can read a text and get a different perspective from it. We don't all have to agree on the reading, there are headcanons people have that I don't agree with but think are neat , I have headcanons that are 100% fanon that most people would disagree with. OP is right in that everything else is fandom but it doesn't matter dude. You wanna ship them you ship away, I will state I've not interacted with anyone gaslighting or throwing it in people's faces, maybe I'm just in a good part of the fandom? If people are doing that which tbh I don't doubt, fandoms are insane and I've been in them since I was 11 and I'm 31 now, then that's shitty behaviour and ridiculous. People can ship how they want, just keep your fandom friends circle small you know? Fandoms should be for enjoyment so if it's getting toxic then cut your losses and start blocking I guess.

In summation:

Life is short, don't be a dick, you don't really need canon confirmation to enjoy a ship but don't chuck it in other people's faces or call people gaslighting for reading deeper into canon.

Blue/Noah

Whether I ship it or not: yes I really do! They’re one of my favorite noncanon trc pairings tbh. I do think I was more actively into them on some previous rereads compared to recently but I still think they’re neat <3

Why I ship it or not: I mean they’re a lovely relationship whether you ship them or not, I love that Noah so immediately likes Blue (although obviously that was partly about her energy) that makes her feel more at home in the group, and as I mentioned in my notes consistently throughout the series when Blue is at her loneliest (the scene post the boat debacle in tdt / the kiss scene in tdt / the guiding counselor scene in BLLB) Noah will manifest and sort of reflect certain aspects of her feelings or allow her an outlet for them when normally it’s Blue who is the mirror to other chars, but Noah is also a mirror so that gets into an interesting territory the magic/world building of trc functioning as a metaphor for relationships and char work which is always my favorite way for magic in trc (and in many fantasy stories tbh but specifically in this context) to be utilized. So I think there is something very special to their scenes because of that thread and even though they don’t have as many as some other combos they tend to be emotionally impactful to me from that perspective. I generally enjoy when in paranormal stories there’s a blurred line or connection between love and death which is a big thing going on here but I’ll go into my thoughts on that in my Gansey/Blue/Noah answer otherwise I’ll be repeating myself. I also think while a lot of their interactions are very soft and adorable there’s often an undercurrent that’s just a little bit fucked up, such as Noah parasitically feeding off Blue’s energy (which she lets him do because she loves him so much..) or something of that nature, which makes it like. Real sweet but also real creepy, which is appealing to my tastes.

My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): well their kiss scene is definitely my favorite kiss scene in either series tbh but can you even call it a kiss with chemistry, or a kiss without chemistry for that matter, given it’s function in the story? That could be its own theoretical debate lol but I do think they consistently have really sweet moments of physicality such as the hair touching and hand holding and the pretzel-of-ghost-boy-and-not-psychic-girl scene. And like, it’s trc it’s the Gangsey there’s canon basis for p much everything ship wise.

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): I mean it isn’t that popular as a ship so would welcome more content around it.

Gansey/Blue/Noah

Whether I ship it or not: absolutely! one of my favorite triads in the Gangsey, actually there was a time a few years back where I would have called them my favorite that isn’t the case anymore since other ot3/triad dynamics have caught my eye more / I feel more strongly about at least 3 others than I do about this one, but it’s still really up there. Love them

Why I ship it or not: first of all on a thematic level there’s a lot to dig into with the three of them together. While obviously there is a lot going on in trc that is not the literal blurb, in theory the series is built around the idea of killing your true love with a kiss and the Blue x Noah kiss is essentially her first kiss with death because that’s what her kiss was always going to be, on my Blue Pinterest board I have a section labeled “her first and last kiss” (quote from that scene in the book) as my Gansey/Blue/Noah section. I just love the symmetry of the concept a lot. And then obviously just the transference kiss as a concept speaks to ot3 shipping imo. And then you have Gansey/Noah parallelisms re: their deaths and also the Whelk/Noah Gansey/Adam as foils part, and Blue and Noah being the two chars (besides maybe Henry which is a little different) who understand Gansey best which includes understanding his suicidality … there’s just a lot there that’s interesting imo and certain links between all three dynamics so that’s the perspective from which I enjoy it mostly.

My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): well Bluesey are canon and have plenty of chemistry imo, and I answered Blue x Noah already. I’m not going to say I think Gansey/Noah chemistry ranks high in terms of Gansey’s male friendships I do think it probably is the least homoerotic of them but like. There’s A Lot of competition to be fair. And there are moments (particularly the TRK scene where Gansey is swimming) that feel that way even if it’s less than other dynamics.

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): again mostly that I would like more exploration of it

God, I already suspected Uingali's ring was the basis for Thrawn's chimaera symbol but I never really looked into it. Now that I've confirmed that's canon I'm weirdly emotional about it.

(This is the first time he isn't being asked to come up with battle strategies or something like that. Instead someone entrusts him with a piece of art. A piece of cultural heritage. That one passion people often ridicule him for or dismiss.

And sure he came up with that whole fake story about why he and Thalias were there. But something tells me Unigali is too smart to have fallen for it completely.

The way Thrawn just freezes when he realizes the significance of what he's been given... idk I just think it's a really neat part of his history.)

My Julian ships, ranked

So someone commented on one of my Sloanshir posts the other day "I don't ship Sloanshir, but..." and that started me thinking - do I ship Sloanshir? What makes a ship?

And then that spiralled into thinking about all the other/actual ships I enjoy and I always enjoy getting an insight into how other people conceptualise shipping, so this came about...

(Now that I've done this, I realise my basis for a lot of these ships is basically where can the best hurt/comfort stories be found? ... Yeah I really should have been able to predict that 😅)

Platonic ships

Jadzia&Julian - best friends, understand each other so well (but also sometimes not at all), there for each other and just so much love.

Fluff: 8/10. Hurt/comfort: 10/10. Angst: 6/10.

Kira&Julian - slightly awkward, not thinking they're that close to each other until suddenly they are and there's a lot of love and respect. What their post-canon friendship could become is 👌👌👌

Fluff: 7/10. Hurt/comfort: 7/10. Angst: 7/10.

Romantic (mostly) ships

Miles/Keiko/Julian (+anyone else) - just the fluffiest, all the group hugs, all the comfort, everyone loves Julian and I'm happy 🥰

Fluff: 10/10. Hurt/comfort: 10/10. Angst: 5/10.

Miles/Julian - all the hurt/comfort, all the awkwardness and love 👌👌👌 top tier, I just love them.

Garak/Julian - there's a lot to be liked, but I can never quite believe that Garak's great at comfort, so it goes below Jiles, sorry. But all the parallels, all the mutual pining, an their arguments and banter and ridiculous fondness for each other despite everything - yeahhh that's the good stuff.

Fluff: 6.5/10. Hurt/comfort: 7/10. Angst: 9/10.

Leeta/Rom/Julian - I like Julian/Leeta well enough, but if you've got J/L you might as well add in Rom because as a trio they are just so cute. All of them having special interests and encouraging each other and listening to each other, all of them bent a little insecure and building one another up - idk, this is just really special to me (tysm to Udaberri's Fly Me to the Moon, this ship has never left my brain since).

Fluff: 10/10. Hurt/comfort: 8/10. Angst: 3/10.

Martok/Julian - mmmm internment camp angst and a highly accomplished Klingon admiring Julian and looking after him? Yissss. There's so much to love here.

Fluff: 5/10. Hurt/comfort: 9/10. Angst: 9/10.

Ezri/Julian - I just think they're neat. Cute and adorable, both absolutely rubbish with their feelings, an oasis of messy fluff in the middle of the war.

Sisko/Julian - I love the mutual respect, I love the desire overcoming Julian's insecurities and Sisko's doubts if his position makes this okay. I'm very here for them both looking after each other when everything gets too much, and both probably giving *too much* to each other and taking turns to overextend themselves and get scolded by the other.

Fluff: 6/10. Hurt/comfort: 8/10. Angst: 4/10.

Odo/Julian - I don't think this is endgame, but I can see it when Odo is human and Julian is helping him figure out how to do it (stuffedtiger's fic, while platonic, left a mark on me here) and also I love their parallels in their treatment and upbringing by their parental figure(s). 10/10 if there are no romantic feelings but they both act as if there are because they're curious and lonely and aren't quite sure what the difference between platonic and romantic is anyway (arospec solidarity for the wiiiiin)

Data/Julian - it's just cute. The most autistic vibing ever. 😘😘😘
