Get Hunted by a Monster in the official Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy rulebook for only $5! Slots limited.
Alright, so thereâs a bunch of slots on the hunting tables in the Eureka rulebook that never got filled. Many of them, we planned for, others, we didnât because a whole bunch of the Kickstarter backers never submitted anything.
So now weâve got all these empty slots for hunting table submissions, and we donât want the monsters (or us, food costs money) to starve, so weâre selling them off.
What are the Hunting Tables?
If youâve been following us, you probably already know that sometimes the PCs in Eureka are monsters that eat people. Often, this is one of the few ways they can restore their missing Composure, something that normal PCs restore just by eating and sleeping. If they need Composure, and canât find anyone to eat in the immediate vicinity, they can go on a Hunt.
The GM rolls on the most relevant Hunting Table to provide the monster with an opportunty to satisfy their hunger.
If you pay for one of these slots, you can be on that table, or your friend, or your OC, or whatever you come up with, with your own little scenario for monster PCs to encounter and maybe come away from a little less hungry.
Email us at [email protected] if youâre interested, and weâll take payment after weâve screened your submission for anything bigoted. You can submit as many as you like if youâre willing to pay $5 for each and thereâs still slots available.
Submission guidelines under the cut.
For every $5, you will be allowed to submit 1 entry to be placed in the Hunting Tables in the Eureka rulebook. If you donât know what the Hunting Tables are, you can find them in The Supernatural chapter of the rulebook. Refer to the table of contents. You can get the beta version of the rulebook here for free at this time if you need to take a look.
For a brief description of what the Hunting Tables are, they are a series of random encounter tables that the Narrator will use to determine who, or what, a monstrous investigator may encounter when they are prowling the streets looking for victims.
What we need from you is the person or personsâ name(s), a brief visual description of them, where they are, what they are doing when the monster PC sees them, and any other guidance you can offer to the Narrator to help them portray this person.
Keep in mind that your entry may be edited for grammar, spelling, clarity, and anything else we may need to do to fit it into the tables. If your entry is too far outside the tone, themes, or setting of Eureka, you may be asked to revise or the entry slightly edited to fit.
The entry will be sorted by us into the following categories based on your description:
Mundane or Supernatural
Urban, Town, Rural, or Wilderness for entries that seem right for Ambush Predators, and Nightclub/Bar, Gay Bar, Hobby Shop, or House Party for entries that seem right for Social Predators.
That being said, when writing where the person is, be more specific than âin an urban area.â If you say something like âwalking down the sidewalkâ weâll know to put that entry in the Urban category. If you say âsitting on a bar stool at the counterâ, weâll know to put that entry in the Nightclub/Bar category. The more specific information, generally the better, though we may cut down entries that are overly long.
Your entry could be a character representing yourself, someone you know, or an original character, and can be a supernatural character so long as it fits within the guidelines laid out for supernatural characters within the rulebook. However, we do ask that you avoid any famous real people(unless you yourself happen to be that famous person), and avoid copyrighted characters. Also, please avoid offensive stereotypes.

2024 Recap & 2025 GOALS
I'M BAAAAACCKKKKKK
Well, well, well.... Look who it IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello my friends.
It is I!!!
To say it's been a while since we've really talked would be an understatement. This bitch rly went fckn off the radar that second half of 2024. But I'm happy to say I am making my debut once again and I am back on the scene!!!
I hope the start of 2025 has been going well for you all <3 I'm happy and excited to say that after a grueling 2024 and relaxing holidays, I'm finally back and ready to get to WORK on Alaris! I thought a nice way to get back into things would be a big 'ol yappy post in true Crescence fashion so that you all know exactly where I, and Alaris, are at as we enter the new year :')
I'm excited to say that while I don't have a set date yet...
Alaris WILL be releasing this year even if it kills me.
Just as my big year goal in 2024 was to graduate and I used every ounce of inner strength to make that happen, finishing and releasing Alaris is my big goal this year. I've kept you all waiting long enough, and I'm confident that Alaris is at a point that we'll be able to do a release this year. Of course, if this changes, you all will be the first to know. But I'm very hopeful that we can make a 2025 release happen ^^
That being said, I think it might be nice to do a 2024 recap so we can see just how far the project has come, even if I was shoved off the face of the earth in the later months of 2024 \o/
Last year, we actually finished ALL the writing for every route except for Aisa's! Meaning we reached 300k words of writing for the game and only have 50k words left YEEAAAAAA. And all routes are written up except for one! This was a huge milestone for me since I still remember when I finished the first 50k for the game with Kayn's route all the way back in the beginning. And we're finally nearing the end.
I've always considered writing the hardest part of game development so to have finally reached a point where almost all of the writing is finished was a huge achievement for me last year.
We also made HUGE progress on the art front last year ^^ Not only did we finish all of the backgrounds for the full game, we also got a new GUI, updated sprites and CGs, and a new promo piece in anticipation for the release of the new demo.

We also made progress on CGs for the full game, which I will not be showing because spoilers and those are special nuggets Patreon and Kickstarter backers get access to hehe. But we made about 16 finished CGs last year, getting us to a total of 22 CGs and about halfway through our CG count!!
Last but definitely not least, we actually had a good amount of releases last year (considering I got fckn bodied in the second half of the year) ^^
a moment for Van
In 2024, believe it or not, I actually released the extended version of Intertwine! It featured new music, slightly more polished programming, and almost double the writing :') And with this release, we saw Intertwine get a lot more love throughout the year and actually reached 200k plays and 1k ratings (crazy numbers I never thought I'd see in all my days). So thank you all for continuing to love my fated child <3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/94c357a992f06ecd949e5a9417066412/cf40e90a779d1feb-44/s540x810/92fa3837142aa0d39b0608d154747b1ed6f34193.jpg)
a moment for my whore child
We also released the enhanced demo for Alaris last year, featuring a polished script (with some revised dates), partial voice acting, custom OST, new GUI, new BGs, updated sprites and CGs, and much more! This was an exciting milestone for me since it felt like we finally were approaching a release that reflected what the full game would feel like, and I couldn't have been happier with the release :') It meant so much to me that old and new players enjoyed it as much as they did and really gave me the motivation endorphins to keep chipping away towards full release
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9b8a7bde79f1b42d419701bcfabefa2c/cf40e90a779d1feb-7b/s540x810/7733bdc2bd0e4289867b7434eef410cc853fbf02.jpg)
HE.
And then, perhaps the most exciting of all, Alaris entered its BETA ROUTE ERAAAAAA!!!! We kicked it off with Kayn in honor of hot girl summer, but made our way through half of the LIs with Kayn, Fenir, and Druk each getting their own moment to shine \o/ The reception to these routes was super motivating since players finally got to experience content I'd been working on and keeping to myself for almost a year, and I've been so happy seeing people fall in love with the LIs in in different ways :')
Usually I do a little recap with fanart I make of games I played throughout the year as well, but this year I wanted to do something different and dedicate this little section to YOU ALL!!
In 2024, the Alaris community was blessed with fanart, memes, character questions, and more :') For some reason, 2024 was the year a lot of you decided to really show your love for the game, and it's one of the biggest things that's maintained my sanity, and the reason I love working on the game. While I can't show all the fanart everyone made, I wanted to take a second to show some love

credits to: @/egginthepit, @/nanapop, @/stimulatory, and @/dreamtydraw for cracked fanart
I know I dropped the ball near the end of 2024, but I hope you all know how much seeing fanart and people engaging with Alaris means to me. Every time I see a new piece or a new character ask in the inbox, it genuinely makes my day. I hope this year I can be better at recognizing and fostering the love in the community for all of our LIs, and I can't wait for another year with you all!

the director's daughter-part one//t.c.
this is going to be a revision of the story I originally wrote and posted on Wattpad but got deleted. Luckily, my Beta has it saved for me<33
Warnings: cursing, yearning/sexual tension
While shooting a new movie, Timothee Chalamet was staying at the home of the film's director, Colleen, along with his costars, Florence Pugh and Zendaya, as well as Zendaya's boyfriend, Tom Holland. After getting off their plane, Colleen's driver brought them to a massive, modern-styled mansion.
Upon entering the house with their luggage, they were all greeted by the lovely Colleen, who gave them a quick tour of her large home and assigned them their bedrooms.
Later that evening after everyone settled in, the director and the cast met in the living room to go over the shooting schedule. As they spoke of the coming weeks, they eventually heard some footsteps.
In walked a young woman wearing a white tank top and some trendy striped boxer shorts. She was seemingly so preoccupied with the AirPod Max headphones on her ears and the iPhone in her hands, that she didn't even notice the group of people sitting on the couches.
"Oh yes," Colleen piped up, "I almost forgot I had a daughter." she joked, speaking louder to get the attention of the young lady. "Y/n!"
Y/n was startled and jumped slightly at her mother's yelling voice. She removed her headphones, smiling awkwardly.
"Honey, you probably already know all of these people already, but, Timothee, Florence, Zendaya and Tom, meet my youngest child, y/n. She's twenty-two and she is also visiting me for the summer along with the rest of you."
"Wow, thanks for the marvelous introduction, Mother, but hey everyone, I'm y/n." she smiled kindly now to the other young adults.
The actors all raised from the couch, greeting y/n with hugs and sweet words. But it was different when Timothee stopped in front of her. She could see why the world, especially females, were so taken by his boyish good looks and his curly hair. She felt like those green eyes were seeing into her soul.
"Y/n." he said, giving her a soft smile and then hugging her.
She hugged Timothee, feeling the softness of the shirt on his back and taking in his sandalwood scent. As they both backed away from the hug, she said, "I didn't mean to interrupt, I was just going to grab some water and head up to my room. Goodnight everyone, it was great meeting you all." She parted to the kitchen with a wave of her hand.
Timothee could not get y/n out of his mind for the entire evening, not even as they all dispersed to go to bed. He laid awake for two hours that night, just letting his brain wander to repetitive thoughts about the mysterious young woman who just waltzed into his life.
The next morning, y/n took it upon herself to make breakfast for everyone, to kick off the summer. The cast members were in awe of the yummy smelling spread on the kitchen island she had put out for them. The entire household sat in the kitchen and had breakfast together.
"So, y/n, are you in college or..?" Florence asked, taking a piece of bacon from her plate and biting into it.
"Oh, no, I'm actually, well I was an Olympic diver." y/n answered.
"Oh that's so cool!" Tom said, "So do you have like medals and all that?"
"Yes, I've got three Gold and two Silver." she said, taking a bite of her waffle off of her fork.
"We never could keep her out of the water when she was little. And we are so proud of everything she's accomplished." Colleen said, the pride evident in her tone and she smiled.
"Hey, I knew I'd seen you before." Zendaya exclaimed looking at y/n, "You were in those Nike ads, right?"
"Yeah, they sponsored me for three years." y/n blushed, wiping her mouth shyly with her napkin. She wasn't used to being so recognized, especially not by someone as famous as Zendaya. As they continued the morning meal, y/n couldn't help but notice that Timothee was being much quieter than the others.
After breakfast, Colleen made an announcement: "Okay guys, we are heading to set today. I want you all to see the work being done and have an idea of what it is going to look like." She then looked at her daughter, "And I am trusting you to stay here by yourself and not break anything or burn the place down."
"Mother, I am twenty-two years old, I think I can handle it."
âYeah, she did cook us breakfast and the house is still immaculate.â Florence pointed out, making the others giggle.
.......
Once everyone else had left, y/n showered and put on a little bit of makeup to go with her white lacy top and black jeans with the knees ripped to catch the summer breeze outside. She ventured out of the house to go to the art supplies store. She wanted to indulge her painting hobby.
It was a quick little shopping trip, the movie gang was still gone when she returned to the house. She went to her room upstairs and kicked her shoes off. She turned on her music, letting it blare through the speakers in her room as she set up her canvas.
After seeing the set, Zendaya, Tom, and Florence made plans to grab some food and then go grocery shopping afterwards. Colleen had a meeting to go to.
Timothee, however, opted to go back to the house instead of dinner, claiming that he didn't sleep well the night before and just wanted to relax.
Upon entering the mansion, he could hear the muffled music coming directly from y/n's room. He smirked to himself, shaking his head. He decided to get a shower and freshen up. It was one of those summer days where you started to sweat just by stepping outside.
After getting out of the shower, Timothee wrapped his towel around his waist. He stopped at y/n's room when he left the bathroom, intending to greet her and let her know that he was back. He knocked on the door, but there was no answer. The music was so loud, she didn't even hear him enter her room. He stopped to watch her for a moment, she was painting, but also swaying her hips to "In the Night" by the Weeknd.
She slathered a bit of paint onto the canvas, did a twirl and squealed when she saw someone in the room with her. She nearly jumped out of her skin! "Timothee! What the fuck?! You scared the hell out of me, dude." She put her hand to her chest to still her raving heart.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to let you know that someone else was home, I didn't mean to scare you."
"How long have you been standing there, you creep?"
"Hey, I'm not a creep,â TimothĂ©e put his hands on his hips, âI only stepped in here for a second."
Y/n found herself distracted by the water beads streaming down his naked chest. "Um, okay. Where is everyone else?"
Timothee smirked, noticing her eyes scanning his chest. "Out."
"mm." she hummed, nodding.
"Is there anything you want from me?" he asked, daring.
She then shot her gaze up to his eyes, "What do you mean?"
"Look, we're both adults here. I see the way you're looking at me, and honestly, I want you too. Everyone else in the house is going to be out for hours. If you want me, I'm yours."
âBut,â she shook her head in disbelief, âyou didnât say a word to me this morning.â
TimothĂ©e shrugged, âYeah, I felt kind weird because I wasnât sure if you were in to me. But now Iâm pretty confident you are.â
She grinned, giggling, âHmm, what makes you so sure?â
âBecause you were just looking at me like you wanted to fuck my brains out.â

Fear you canât make it yet? Sign-ups for pinch-hitters will be open later during the event!

Whatâs a Big Bang?
Whatâs a Big Bang?
Glad you asked! This is a challenge where writers come up with a 15k+ words fic and get paired with a just-as-enthusiastic artist that accompanies their written work with a piece of art! A detailed schedule spanning around 4 months will be available down this post, fear not!Â
15k is a lot of words, is there any other way that, as a writer, I can participate?
There is! We are offering a beta-reader partnering system as well as a Mini Bang!
Whatâs a Mini Bang?
This is a challenge similar to a Big Bang where you write a piece under 15k words! Do note that the Mini Bang does not come with art like the Big Bang does!
Why does the Mini Bang donât include art?
This is the less stressful option for writers who still want to participate in the event! Less stress for the writers and none for the artists! That said, this might be revised if an important number of artists sign up!
I donât think my Big Bang fic is gonna reach 15k, can I downgrade to the Mini Bang?
Yes! You will be able to downgrade until December 2nd, a few weeks before drafts are due and artist pairing starts!
I think my Mini Bang fic is gonna be longer than 15k, can I upgrade to the Big Bang?
Yes! You will be able to upgrade until December 2nd, a few weeks before drafts are due and artist pairing starts!
Rules and requirements
For Writers
What are the requirements for my fic?Â
Your fic must be an unpublished, completely new work! It needs to be able to stand on its own (meaning that sequels and crossovers/fusions are allowed, but your fic must be able to be read on its own!) and must meet the minimum word count requirement, which is  15k words. It is also strongly recommended for no parts of your work to have been already published elsewhere (even small snippets)!
It is also mandatory that you keep your work a secret - this is to assure an anonymous art claim process and is very important. If you talk about your work in any public way (this includes our discord server), your violation will be discussed amongst the mod team and could result in potential removal from the event!
Does it have to focus on a romantic pairing?
Not at all! Your fic can be platonic, romantic, neither or all of the above, as long as it focuses on the relationship between Dream and Hob!
Does my fic have to be beta-read?
While it is not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to use a beta reader during your writing process! Donât have a beta reader already? We offer a beta-reader pairing system! Just make sure to fill in the appropriate section in the sign-up form to indicate that you are in need of betaing!
My friend and I want to co-author a fic, is that alright?
Hell yeah! We love collaboration! Simply make sure to indicate it on each of your sign-up forms (meaning that each one of you needs to fill a form)!! The word count requirement is still 15k (even if you are one, two, three or more, yes!) and keep in mind, though, that you will not receive more art because there are more authors!
Can I have a secondary pairing in my fic?
Yes! As long as the focus of your fic is Dream/Hob, go ham!
Can I write threesomes, foursomes, polycules?
Yes! As long as the focus of your fic is Dream/Hob, please do!!
Can I write RPF (Tom Sturridge/Ferdinand Kingsley)?
Yes!Â
What canât I write, then?
Anything is fair game as long as it is properly tagged and/or warned for! Major content warnings (such as AO3 dictates) must also be applied properly! There is only one exception to this : work depicting real life children (such as the actorsâ), which is not allowed.
What if I have a fic that Iâve been working on but never posted?
You can totally use it! As long as your work remains unpublished, itâs fair game!
Can I write something for NaNoWriMo and use it as my submission?
Hell yeah!! As long as itâs unpublished and meets the word requirements!!
Iâm so excited for this event that I want to write two fics, is that all right?
We never say no to more cake! Please do keep in mind that youâll still have to respect the schedule for both works at the same time!
As the author, do I have a say in what my paired artist creates?
In short : no. While we do encourage collaboration, this is not a commission process. The artist has free reign on what they want to create that is inspired by your fic. If you can write what you want, then your artist can create what they want!
Can I already pair up with an artist friend?
Absolutely! Just make sure you tell us in the sign up form!
I donât like my paired artist and/or what my artist has created.
While this is unfortunate, your artist has spent their own energy and free time to create their piece. To dismiss them and their efforts is plain rude. The mods will not step in and give you another artist simply because you are not pleased with your match. Your artist deserves your thanks, not your ire.Â
What are authors check-ins?
Be not afraid! These are mostly touch points for the modteam to make sure everyone is still on board and on schedule! That said, these are mandatory! Failure to respond to check-ins will disqualify you from participating in the current event.
What if I canât meet a deadline?
Please make sure to inform a mod as soon as you know! Accommodations might be worked out depending on the situation. We simply ask you to be considerate to your fellow artists, it is unfair to them to back out as they had already started working on their pieces!
Where do I post my fic?
We ask you to post your story to the AO3 collection! You are free, after that, to post it anywhere else youâd like and/or prefer! There, you will also be able to embed and link to your artistâs piece(s)!
For Artists
What kind of art can I make?
Anything from traditional or digital drawing, to photomanips, fanvids, podfics, songwriting, book binding and more! We only ask you to put some effort into it, after all, your author has worked hard on their piece as well!Â
A few exceptions include : playlists, icons and banners. These, while being a nice and fun bonus for your author, canât be counted as your primary piece!
How much art do I have to make?Â
You are required to make one piece of art! But if you are inspired, more are definitely welcome!
What are the minimum requirements for my art?
A minimum of 500px by 500px piece for visual pieces. A minimum of 2 minutes for digital pieces.Â
*If your art doesnât fit within these parameters, an agreement can be reached between mod, author and artist as to what could be considered equivalent/sufficient.Â
How will I be able to claim a fic?
Art claims will be held from January 6th to 10th to give authors the time to complete a first draft as well as send in a summary of their work. We ask you to be readily available to answer messages during that time period as the process will be held on a âfirst come first servedâ basis. You will receive a link to the claiming form at the beginning of this period.Â
Can I already pair up with a writer friend?
Absolutely! Just make sure to tell us in the signing up form!
How do I get in touch with my writer?
Fear not, the mods will place you in contact with your partner once pairing is done!
What are artistsâ check-ins?

From your designated host (whether thatâs tumblr, pillowfort, etc.) so that it can be embedded into AO3! We simply ask you to use the relevant tags and link back to your writerâs story!

Omegaverse Catalogue of general Vulgarity, insults and curses
! Warning, following post may have offensive content to some audiences so exercise caution!
I have been inspired of pack-the-pack's post about curse words in omegaverse so i decided to do my own with some revision and additions. Some words may be directly linked to the post but i will also add my own and diferently interpret others.
The following will have insults, curses, vulgar phrases, slurs and profanities.
Insults & slurs :
Towards Alphas :
Knothead -A person person, typically an alpha, who acts like an asshole. It can also be used for a person who think with their dick first instead of head.
ex. Sleeping around like he does requires a impossible levels of ego.Geez what a knothead
Heatstall- Slur made to diminish an Alpha sexually and socially. A heatstall is a person who is so poor at bed that they have a power to stop person's heat . It can also be used for peson who is unatracctive because of their looks and/or behaviour.
ex. it really is a shame that he turned out to be a total heatstall, the way he treats staff is unacceptable!
Loose Tie- it means that their knot is not enough to keep person attached enough to them. Loose tie is a way to tell a person that they cannot secure any close interpersonal relationships.
ex. Being a loose tie that he is, it doesn't suprise me that she left him
Knotless- It is used to describe a person who does not follow through with their plans or words. Can also be used towards a cowardly person.
ex. You Knotless bastard! You promised to be here for me at the gathering but as always you left me alone with these wolves!
Stray Dog - describes an alpha who notoriously sleeps around with omegas and female betas.
ex. Listen to me, that stray dog isn't worth it. He'll just take what he wants and leave you when he's satisfied
Cat-pole - Designed to demean Alpha females sexually and socially. Itâs a way to mock a female Alphaâs âretractable anatomyâ which evokes thoughts of a catâs claws; also doubles as being an offensive more âsubtleâ replacement for âpussy-dickâ.
Ex. Why should we listen to a cat-pole like you? We've got enough alphas to steer the wheel.
Bitch- can be used as a regular insult or a slur. It comes from a fairy-tale notion that alpha who recieves penetration will turn into an omega. Bitch can be used as a slur to alpha who engages in such acts or can be an insult that implies that an alpha lacks a spine, sucking up to other and being metaphorically ,,fucked'' by them in turn.
ex. Grow a spine and stop acting like a bitch!
Tail-chaser- resembling a dog chasing its own tails, the insult implies that the alpha who chases after a person for sexual favours without success
ex. She's been tail-chasing him for the whole night without response it becomes almost sad.
Runt - Meant to diminish alpha's strength and position in pack. It means being the weak, incapable or pack reject.
Ex. Little runts like you should not be hanging 'round those parts of the city.
Lone wolf - an alpha who was left by their partner or kicked out of their pack. It generally is used towards rejects.
Ex. A lone wolf like you has no say in it!
Towards Betas :
Stump- designed to insult and diminish Male beta's sexual prowess as they do not have as powerfull appendage compared to their alpha counterparts.
ex. Why should i settle down for a stump?
Knotless- when directed at betas it is used as a demeaning connotation of a beta anatomy
Ex.Are you sure you want to settle with a knotless guy?
Left-over - It is used as an insult to insinuate that the beta will never be the first choice when it comes to dating.
ex.You can try as much as you want but you will always be a left-over.
Tatty - used to demean Beta females implying that their wombs are not as skillful as omega ones because they are a beta. A tattered womb.
Ex. I cannot you settled for her tatty ass instead of me!
Crummy- the same meaning as Tatty.
Beta tester- designed to deman beta sexualy and socially. That they are only a ,,test'' before person enters a real relationship.
Ex. You are nothing but a beta-tester. Do not have high hopes that your relationship will last.
Towards Omegas
Puppymill - used as an insult to omega, insinuating that their only purpose in life is to have children
Ex. Do not get lavish ideas omega, you are nothing but a puppymill
Bitch- i think the name serves for itself
Knot-hole- similiar to puppy mill but also lowers the omega to status of a sex toys, where they are only holes used for fucking.
Puppy-pooper- Directed towards male omegas. Comes from ignorant and incorrect belief of what the targets anatomy looks like. People ignorant of this think that the place where male omegas birth their children and defecate are one and the same. It is used to diminish the omega's ability of having children and establish their childrens' ,,dirtiness".
Ex. Why would you willingly tie yourself down to a puppy-pooper?!
Stud- directed at domineering omegas. It can also be used towards abusive women who try to control every situation available.
Ex. A stud like her will never have a chance at finding a partner
Knot tease- the same meaning as cock tease
Knot dropper- describes an omega who is so loose that their hole cannot hold the alpha's knot anymore. Comparable to being called a whore or a slut.
ex. Do you try to win a knot dropper title by the way you sleep around?!
Tail tease- the same meaning as Knot tease
Tight-fit - Used towards omegas who were brought up strictlty and thus are much more traditional mindset in courtship and lifestyle.
Ex. A tight-fit like her may be more trouble than it's worth, you don't want to die of boredom after all
General Insults
Scent-deaf - refers to a person without a tact; someone cannot for their life read social cues.
ex. Why the fuck did you say that, are you scent-deaf?
Knotsucker- same as cocksucker
Knotlicker- generally it means slut or whore, but can also be used towards a person who is a bootlicker while also expecting some sort of reward for it.
ex.Im outta here, this whole room is full of knotlickers
Overbred- same as knotdropper.
Tail twister- A cowardly person who will be first to give up.
ex. This ride is not for a tail twister like you
Glandless- same as Scent deaf
Neck-sniffer - A pervert; sleazy person
If people have more ideas for curses and insults, make sure to comment down below and share your ideas. :]

âââ SENTFROMWOLVES â writeblr introduction ÂČâ°ÂČâŽ
Hi everyone, and welcome to my writeblr 2024 introduction. My name is Eran (they/he & freshly thirty) and I've been on writeblr for awhile, so you might've seen me around. ( âąÌ Ï âąÌ ) This is my yearly post to introduce the projects I'll be working on this year, what I write, and who I am. I'll be keeping it short and sweet.
I'd love to meet more writers this year, so if you write any of the following, or just like these genres, or even just wanna shout about ocs together, come holler and I'll give you a follow!
â â sci-fi and fantasy of any kind! cozy fantasy, romantasy, epic fantasy, space opera? this is my bread and butter, and I love shouting about it from the rooftops with others! â â found families, ot3s, complicated soulmates. I am almost always writing about soulmates who have either killed each other at least once in the past or are planning some sort of murder. Complicated relationships, especially found families that aren't all rainbows and butterflies, are right up my alley. â â queer and trans protagonists, large queer casts! all of my wips feature trans/nonbinary leads, and I'm always looking for more queer writer friends to connect with! â â hope at the end of the tunnel, but hell to get to. I write stories with hopeful endings, with the sun on the horizon, with the promise that something better might now at long last be on the way. I love seeing characters get put through hell, but I love it even more when they make it to the other side. (if you write tragedy though, please know I will still cry on your doorstep if you'll have me) â â corruption arcs, redemption arcs, sometimes both! Deeply nuanced characters with messy attitudes, and even messier actions. I'm just as equally obsessed with cool worldbuilding as I am with character-driven things, and I will yell about ocs all day, and maybe draw them too >:3 â â big, epic, and sweeping worldbuilding! I am a huge fan of delving into the worldbuilding aspect of my wips. I love building magic systems, cultures, geographies, and more. One of my 2024 projects is doing a worldbuilding experiment blog at some point. I am always down to clown over worldbuilding, whether to sound board or just holler together!
There's a lot more I could say here, but this post can only get so long! Σ(㣠°Р°;)㣠my dms are always open, and I will follow back most of the time! But just to get all of the basics outta the way:
ââ« here's a quick and dirty rundown of how I work! »ââ
âș I interact and follow from @calamityeden, so if you see that username, it's just me.âïžI am most active on discord, and if we become friends, you're more than welcome to ask to add me there. âșÂ I am open to being tagged in writeblr games! Just know that I am not online all the time, and might be slow to respond to them. đ âș My ask box and DMs are open, just please be respectful. I love meeting new writers and talking about projects! I am happy to chat and make new friends. You're always welcome! đ âș This is a strictly 18+ writeblr. Please DNI with me if you are a minor and respect my boundaries.
đȘYou can find my core tags here under my writing and my graphics, as well as writer reminders, game train and catharsis. (âÂŽâĄ`â) And now onto the fun part! My 2024 main project line up!
I have my main four listed here that you'll probably hear me yelling about pretty consistently, but I've also got a lot of other projects rattling around in my brain. So if you're ever curious about a project that's not here, feel free to yell at me about it! >:3

Thankfully, Judge came prepared with an alternative: help him break into a mythical living city and steal its heart, and in return, he'll shatter Nemesis's curse for free. Accompanied by a three-headed hellhound, a haunted holy sword, and an excommunicated exorcist, Judge and Nemesis set their sights on an impossible heist. And if he doesn't find a way to break Judge's soon, his own life will be forfeit as well.

Two hundred years ago, humanity expanded to the stars only to find a cosmos filled with graves. But then their children began displaying the strange ability to commune with the alien ruins scattered across the planets, waking ancient, extrasolar mecha from their sleep, and turned the struggling colonies of space explorers into the fledgling galactic nation of Sol Galatea. Now, Wren Akane is on the run from the whole galaxy, wanted for the strange alien powers throbbing through his veins. His luck runs out when he accidentally awakens an ancient Relic in the desert of his planet, only to be embedded with the memories of its last pilot and the revelation that the war that littered the cosmos with graves is far from over. But no one believes Wren when he tells them that continuing to wake the Relics will bring the hostile alien empire that destroyed them back to Sol Galateaâs doorstep. Only Wrenâs rival pilot, Marek Khalid, seems interested in a word Wren has to say. But Marek doesnât want to save Sol Galatea. He has big plans for what to do when the aliens arrive, a rebellion to lead, and if Wren isnât on his side, heâs in his way. With time running out, Wren must soon decide how far heâs willing to go to save the people that never tried to save himâor if Marek is right, and he should let the stars burn instead.

Thereâs no outsmarting Octavian for long, and soon, Sirius will have to make a choice: give up on his passion and stay hidden forever, or risk everything to stay true to who he really is.

When a monster crawls out of Touya's television screen and eats him, the last thing he expects is to find a strange, shadowy otherworld lurking on the other side. ⊠Lost in Limbo Devlog #12 | 06.09.24
And it's time! đ Another month, another devlog, and this one comes with great news!
First of all, we FINALLY settled everything with our studio's bank account, which means we can start sending the necessary documentation to Steam so the demo can be approved. Beta testing has almost ended and all that's left is a bit more of anxious revisions and getting the paperwork together.
We will announce the demo release date very very soon; as soon as we can announce our Steam page! We are hoping that can be settled this upcoming week, but let's see what happens. As the finishing line approaches, we have less to show mainly because we are saving some juicy things for our Kickstarter Pre-Release, so bear with us for a minute! ; v ;
Also, let's be realâpaperwork is boring. No one wants to read about me fist-fighting Steam or the Spanish government.
So let's jump into it! đ
PD: I have a lot of asks left to reply to, so let me apologize for being a bit on the slower side! T_T
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0ab0298820f11b47ddeb69236bb68e10/3076afb44ea8ffeb-69/s540x810/e39f96f0dcdcc34d52c9d6f6320d9775bccefcea.jpg)
This month, for mermay, we got a wonderful shrimp prince! đ§Ą
Seriously, though; he's supposed to be a lionfish, but the shrimp joke was too funny. Just look at this shrimpy beauty! đŠ
When it comes to the sprites, Raquel wants to add some touches to a few expressions, but she's now focusing on getting our merch art ready. We are so so excited to be able to show it! :')
đđAll the backgrounds have been finished!đđ
Well, all the assets have been finished, should I say! Everything is animated, programmed, and ready to go.
Programming wise, the beta testing process has been going great. Special thanks to Allie, our editor, and Lem (@crescencestudio) for offering their help in beta testing the demo! Also, A.J, Narjs, and Ela, our other beta testers that have given us invaluable feedback! đ I think we are almost finished; we are still waiting for one of our VAs to deliver their lines, and I want to give another round of testing to the mac version of the game.
The mobile version will most likely come later than the PC one, as it's stated in our masterpost! đ I'll start working on it as soon as the remaining voicelines are incorporated and the betatesting for the PC version is completely finished.
This month we started to reveal our amazing cast! đ So far you've met Amon (Brian Vaughn), Envy (Aaron Moy), Xal (Francfil Pontañeles) and our Mysterious Seer (Callum Sanders). Everyone has been wonderful to work with, and we can't wait for you to meet them all in game!
We are also starting work on our teaser trailer; if we are lucky, we'll be able to work with a wonderful artist!
We are sorry this devlog is a bit on the boring sideâwhat's left for us is deal with the hell that is founding a studio and publishing a game. Taxes, build distributions, taxes, taxes, paperwork, reading lots of scary stuff...At the end of the day, we are just four little cryptids trying to stay afloat. I'm very proud of how far we've come, but now that things are getting very serious, I can't help but to shake in my boots a little! T^T
Our demo release date announcement is very, very close. We haven't said anything about it yet because we want to be certain everything is in order and as perfect as possible for the release. We know that's impossible (I mean, being first-timers, stuff is prone to happen), but we want to work as hard as we can to avoid oopsies.
And that's it, folks! We hope we can keep coming at you with good news, and we are very excited (and terrified) of what's to come. Thank you so so much for your support, for sending us asks, for your lovely comments, and for being interested in our game.
As always, please take care, stay hydrated and healthy, remember to eat and take breaks, and make sure to give yourself some love today! đ

Hi, how are you?
Can you tells us if we will get an update soon!
Thank you for checking in! (Also, I know you sent this Ask in a positive and friendly manner, so Iâm sorry that Iâm using this as an opportunity to talk about something serious. After this, any use of âyouâ in this post is a generic âyouâ for everyone reading.)
If people have been paying attention to news about the US, you are probably aware that the situation is crazy right now. I try to keep this blog centered on my creative works, so I generally donât talk about politics here.
But Iâm going to make an exception in this post, because the current US political situation is, in fact, affecting me as a fic writer. Ever since January 20, my loved ones and I have been under an immense amount of stress. The administrationâs recent actions and Executive Orders have a direct negative impact on us.
Sometimes, fic writing is a welcome outlet for my stress. Sometimes, the stress is so overpowering that I canât bring myself to look at my computer screen. Sometimes, I am so mentally, physically, and emotionally tired that I have no idea if the words I just wrote are any good or if theyâre pure garbage.
I try to do what I can, even as an individual member of fandom, to resist. It isnât much, but I try. I recently removed links to fanart that led to X and Meta, because I donât want to drive traffic to Nazis and bigots. I have stopped buying bookbinding supplies from Amazon, because Bezos (who was awful even before this) is complicit with the other broligarchs. I signed up to offer betaing/research services for the @fandomtrumpshate fandom charity works auction, because if Iâm able to help them raise even $10, $10 is better than $0 (and maybe $10 will be enough to buy a dozen eggs in this current economy).
Again, itâs not a lot. But every little bit counts, just like every vote counts. Unfortunately, not enough American people listened in November. Hopefully, more of them are listening now.
And yet, as stressful and terrifying as things are now, I am doing my best to hold onto the good things. The good things are what get me out of bed in the morning. Good things like my family, my friends, crafting, and of course fic writing.
When I finish drafting a chapter, that makes me happy. When I post an update, that makes me happy. When I get comments on AO3, that makes me happy. When I answer silly questions on Tumblr, that makes me happy. Fandom makes me happy.
I think itâs important to strive for happiness, now more than ever, as Trumpâs administration does its best to make everyone so scared, tired, and anxious that we no longer have the energy to resist. So Iâm going to keep writing, even if it takes me a bit longer. And Iâm going to keep posting my fics, because I know it makes other people happy to read them, and it makes me happy when they tell me so.
Another bit of news that I hope makes people happy: I just finished a big revision of Compromise Chapter 14! Iâm going to try to post it this weekend. But I wonât make promises, because unlike the current American president, I try to keep my promises, and I canât guarantee anything fandom-related right now.
But I can promise this: I still love writing, I will continue to update my fics, and I always appreciate each and every one of my readers. â€ïž
In return, if a fic makes you happy, please consider making the writer happy by leaving a comment. Every little bit counts.

My thoughts on Spy x Family: EYES ONLY Guidebook (English ver) - part 3
Continuing from my previous two posts, this will be my last post discussing the English version of the SxF manga guidebook "EYES ONLY." I'll discuss some of Endo's and Lin's comments on specific chapters, some of the included concept art for the series, all the Twiyor tidbits the book has to offer, and conclude with a couple things the English version of the book omits.
Endo's and Lin's comments on specific chapters
There's at least one comment from Endo and/or Lin on every chapter of the manga from when the book was originally published (up to chapter 61). Unfortunately I can't cover every single comment, but I did want to highlight a few (more will be covered in the Twiyor tidbits later on).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bd56d1a6425388415ace9b937a61f50e/6e5d898d306b6665-fa/s1280x1920/4479bf7f49cde9e795cce7e3005bd47a12c76306.jpg)
So Bond wouldn't have actually died from Yor's cooking then? Good to know her cooking isn't that bad, lol. Also that's a good question, Lin, maybe you should ask Endo? đ
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/baeb3bfdb48cf3a6cf01090c08ece34f/6e5d898d306b6665-e9/s640x960/558f95d8ca80b0e2ff7a1741ecdaa797ef156182.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ced68c13eff67f041f0312bfbee87c79/6e5d898d306b6665-a7/s1280x1920/b17a4ef4f5c8fcca245b9a7e90e7ba6ed935f6a5.jpg)
Lots of great info about the cruise arc. Makes sense that they had to plan it out many months in advance and keep revising it to patch up plot holes. All that work definitely paid off! Interesting that they almost considered not having Loid on the ship at all. Glad they didn't because otherwise we wouldn't have gotten one of his best outfits! đ€Ł (can't wait to see this piece of work in color in the anime!)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e1be1cbe66b5913597758bfd93928033/6e5d898d306b6665-04/s540x810/9239c3130dbaf9c26ff6ad9e585beadc7f85f018.jpg)
Incidentally, the scene Endo mentions where he "managed to make Yor look pretty cute" is this one (she does look pretty cute here).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a509fa3406b927eb1520e5480b6024e8/6e5d898d306b6665-41/s540x810/430281e4221365e1efa66be79f8ccaf4a71f89ac.jpg)
My favorite comment of Endo's about any chapter has to be this one for chapter 56. Never change, Endo đ
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2b073d3de9e16d579a6ded5fad67f544/6e5d898d306b6665-a6/s540x810/09698d925ffa5f7cb5ff40ff5d3820d93387ab93.jpg)
And lastly, some good comments about chapter 59 (Becky visits the Forgers).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ba8be164c662ec8f0feca5a7909f7633/6e5d898d306b6665-7c/s540x810/0c86ae73c6fb13868a8c9455b40de96d75c210ab.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/18b9946f0eec4e2991c1195e75bdaa5f/6e5d898d306b6665-cd/s540x810/26fc13719a9208efef104a0423b1f4c1f503d9f8.jpg)
This is one of my favorite stand-alone chapters so I'm glad it was well received. Funny how they kept going with the joke instead of ending it "normally"...but when you have such great characters and setups, good comedy writes itself!
Below is Endo's commentary about Henderson, not a specific chapter, but thought I'd point it out since he mentions Henderson is the only character he's done a shower scene for...not anymore!

Also, while not related to a specific chapter, I do like what Endo says below about Loid and Yor's "dark sides."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9a4a2d521a2f2ae2ea8889b5d3b59ba2/6e5d898d306b6665-ac/s540x810/b7c2ff25d316ddb403d30d1f1ab121afbbe85cdd.jpg)
He enjoys drawing them this way, which is cool, but he's also cautious about not overdoing it and saving those expressions for important situations.
Concept art
Most of the pre-serialization character designs included in this book were also in the exhibition pamphlet, which I already discussed thoroughly here (wish I had remembered these were in the fanbook so I wouldn't have put so much effort into trying to read Endo's scribble notes). So I'll just mention a few of the most notable things.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6f4a94d0a4232c754af7d8523fd1a835/6e5d898d306b6665-03/s540x810/81c3c6f50211adb9a6aab2797a5cd6d55b256da7.jpg)
As I discussed in my post about the pamphlet, Franky was at some point intended to be the uncle of the family. Though I do think it would have been fitting to make him the uncle, I also like the main focus being on just the "nuclear" family, with the uncle and other characters having supportive roles.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c6e6da9290f0bf94ae37942329d09e48/6e5d898d306b6665-35/s640x960/4c841c37ad536d9e9f4486b0ae02bbbc0b780810.jpg)
An interesting note about the beta version of Yor is that she seemed to be more like Fiona - she was in love with Loid right from the start, to the point of trying to eliminate Anya! I doubt this is something she would be doing all the time as it would have been difficult to make her a likable main character if she was always trying to kill her daughter...in all likelihood, she would have tried to kill Anya at first before eventually learning to love her as a daughter. While I see how this could work for an intriguing character arc, I'm glad Endo decided to make Yor a loving mother to Anya right away, and not make her feelings for Loid an obsessive "love at first sight" kind of thing.
Twiyor tidbits
Being the shipper that I am, I tried to see if I could pinpoint any Twiyor subtleties throughout the book, as vague as they may be! đ
Below are excerpts from Loid and Yor's character pages where we're given info on their current stance about each other.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a85bd432683722f8d1c466776ad4a78e/6e5d898d306b6665-87/s540x810/5e27c74f01ce52cf626242a4890c6b51ef957a60.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/956ae239e7c915f4a8aa471f305fe137/6e5d898d306b6665-a1/s540x810/6f1f5274a711f64e50c6bb2bec9eb7d5d8b0d98b.jpg)
Love the emphasis on their bond of trust â€ïž
Below are excerpts from chapters 14 and 35, probably the most Twiyor-heavy chapter pages in the book.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0ce48d6a0db9085ca14b54c53d877343/6e5d898d306b6665-4c/s540x810/50304dd9f4a9a0119657c156fc4a3c7939952e72.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e40323309a866f78dc5a8bc215c2b17a/6e5d898d306b6665-2c/s540x810/93ed112a4260292606decc672e8d2ee8707b9aee.jpg)
This confirms that Loid did indeed interpret Yor's kick as her not having any romantic feelings for him.
Below are comments by Endo and Lin for chapter 30, where Fiona is introduced.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/01bbc089c8bf17859578cf38fd9e8082/6e5d898d306b6665-8a/s540x810/33ee0d688a752ede5eb90292b32a8317f729304f.jpg)
Endo's line is a little ambiguous here, but I think he's saying how people sympathize with Fiona because she's "doomed to lose," which is...telling đ
(does Fiona's loss automatically mean a Twiyor win?)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/74cc5ddc6c6a1a471f7b8b6c513804c5/6e5d898d306b6665-52/s540x810/90f6bb4ba5faf114a826d1915b7e38664a0c5788.jpg)
Endo says he likes the "You're strong, Yor" conversation, one of the most Twiyor-ish scenes in the series so far! đ Lin also mentioned how they got to use that theme again during the Becky chapter.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0350309592ec3f2cae91340943ea2cf9/6e5d898d306b6665-a8/s540x810/91a0fe4c05096daa2e55f2d20ddb2137e37625f4.jpg)
Weird that he chose to highlight this line of all things as Loid's "Family Comment" for chapter 10. Could this and chapter 79 be more foreshadowing for an eventual "Twilight vs Thorn Princess" showdown? đ Or maybe he just likes teasing fans because he knows it's something they fantasize about.
English version omissions
There's an additional Endo interview that's missing from the English version of the book: an interview with him and Kazumi Takayama, a former idol of the group Nogizaka46.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/07a3c6aad55500ad95e2f84549b34408/6e5d898d306b6665-af/s540x810/77e2906e8ebb8eba9c65473c548d1e05b9e9cc27.jpg)
At first it seemed very odd that they would leave out just this interview, but after discussing it with others on Discord, I realized it's because it has to do with an idol. Apparently getting licensing rights for anything that has to do with a Japanese idol group is very difficult, which is further hindered by the fact that Takayama isn't even part of that idol group anymore, which makes getting the content green lit for official release overseas even more taxing. So probably Viz decided it wasn't worth the trouble and just left out that interview. But thankfully u/Nemshi on Reddit posted a fan translation of it, which you can read here. They talk a bit about SxF, but most of it is just general questions they ask each other.
And the other thing missing from the English version that I really can't understand is the inside cover! Another great 4th-wall breaking joke from Endo (I added a quick translation of the Japanese version below).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/66cf465ab4053f23d2826365d5b13aa7/6e5d898d306b6665-c2/s640x960/75e0578c014025a4b549100ded3fa1d2d58a7b78.jpg)
Unlike the Takayama interview, I have no idea why they didn't include this. They include the inside cover as an extra page in all the English volumes, so why not here? Very weird.
---
And that's all I'm going to share for the "EYES ONLY" fanbook! Honestly, there's so much great content in the book that I didn't touch on, like info about East/West relations, about Eden Academy, Endo's comments on all the designer chairs for the volume covers...and lots more. So definitely get a copy yourself if you can! It's a must-have for any SxF fan đ Books like this aren't officially released in English very often, so the fact that Viz thought it was worthwhile to make this proves how much of a hit SxF is!

How to Write Faster (And, Hopefully, Better Too)
Estimated Reading Time: 7 minutes
I've shared some tools before to help improve your speed and motivation, which include:
Using a word count spreadsheet
Working on only one WIP at a time
Leverage StimuWrite and Cold Turkey
.... but I still have a few more tricks, which I'll share now.
Why should you listen to me? I've written over 2 million words of fiction since 2021. That's a lot, more than many people write in a lifetime.
This is despite the fact that I also write 22,000 words every week for my day job. I do around 10k of creative fiction a week. And there's also the time I spend writing these articles for you, the lovely people of Tumblr, which is around 4-5k per week.
So, all told, I probably do around 37,000 words (creative, informative, and otherwise) every single week.
I did that by following these tips.
Separate the work into stages.
First, let's outline the stages of work (or at least the stages I use). You may have a different setup, and that's fine - if you do have a system that works for you, then you probably don't need my post at all. Keep doing what you're doing and ignore my advice.
But if you do not have a system, consider mentally separating things into these parts.
Active Writing. When I am busy doing the draft. It is both the most precarious and productive time; everything else related to books goes on the backburner. I am doing nothing writing-related but writing. No discussing the work unless I'm stuck somewhere, no making moodboards, NOTHING. This is my sacred time when I am in the thick of things and I put Writing Blinders on.
Percolation. I am done with the first draft. I set the piece aside and do other things like reading other novels, outlining another story, answering tag games, playing with moodboards, or putting everything aside and focusing on other hobbies. This is so I can come back to revisions with a fresh set of eyes. It keeps the story in my mind and can even help me discover new things I want to add.
Revision. After I have had a beta reader check things out, I go back and start fixing things. Then it percolates again. I repeat percolating and revising as many times as I feel necessary. Many times, I will have one beta reader look at it, then revise, and then have another beta reader look at it, each one getting a slightly different version of the story so I can compare what they liked or disliked.
Prepublishing. Most authors' least favorite part: marketing and telling people about your book so that they want to read it when it is ready. That includes stuff like making mood boards, doing tag games, sending out ARCs, setting up adds, posting on social media, and so on.
Again, ONE STEP AT A TIME. Do not blend all of these into a slurry.
I will say that this time around, with Pride Before a Fall, I ordered the cover before I was done with the book because I had a very clear vision of what I wanted.
Talk less, write more.
This is similar to the problem I highlighted in my Double Outlining post; the more you talk about your story, the more you trick your brain into thinking that you've done the work when you categorically have not.
Plus, the time you spend talking about your book is time you spend not writing your book. We can't do both simultaneously.
I don't really talk about my stories while I'm doing them, not even with my family. I may post a line or two, and I may tell people the basic plot, but I'm not spending hours discussing them with anyone unless I need advice on what to do next. Even then, it's more like "hey what do you think about this? Good? Cool, off I go."
Please get out of the habit of exhaustively picking apart your work with other people during the Active Writing stage. That can come during the Percolating and Revising stages.
Devote all your love and attention to one story.
Yes, I've mentioned this in a whole entire post, but I need to emphasize just how important it is to write stories one at a time. Working on a million things at once is not efficient; it's scatterbrained.
Force yourself to do ONE story. Just one. Not two or three or five. ONE.
Again, I've written 132 stories on AO3 (two of which are 100k+, multiple of which are 50k+), published one book, and written 5 of the upcoming manuscripts for the 10-part Eirenic Verses series. I am a very productive writer, and that is because I do everything one at a time.
Don't tell yourself "oh, I can get more done if I do a little bit on this one and that one and that one."
Can a chess player win three games of chess if they play all of them simultaneously? Uh, probably not. Each of their opponents is devoting everything to one game while their concentration is split between three different boards.
And you're not going to win either if you're playing twenty games of Write the Book simultaneously.
Do not mess around with moodboards, tag games, character questionnaires, playlists, etc, during Active Writing.
I discussed this in my Extremely Controversial Writing Opinions, but it bears repeating.
Do all of that stuff later, after you are done, as a marketing tool. It's procrastination, plain and simple.
Any time I get sucked into tag games or moodboards while writing, I get less done because I'm devoting time and energy to something that doesn't actually enhance my book.
It's one thing to do character questionnaires while you're figuring out a character, but quite another to stop what you're doing and tell everyone what your character's favorite food is.
Is that helping you get the project done? No, it is not. Log out of Canva. Turn on Cold Turkey to block Tumblr or Twitter. Leave that stuff alone.
Read short stories.
You know you need to read to become a good writer, but taking hours out of your day to read a novel while you're drafting your own novel can take away from your writing process.
That's not to say you shouldn't ever read novels, of course, but you can do that while you're in between projects.
During my active writing phase, I like to read a short story before I get started on working. This gives me inspiration and primes my creative pump so I'm excited to do my best.
Reading short stories also helps me focus on brevity rather than long-winded diatribes, which lets me pack more into a story.
Don't reread your work during Active Writing.
It's easy to get sucked into rereading and then not get anything new done; plus, this makes you want to revise, which should come later.
Reread only as much as you need to fix plot holes or remind yourself of where you're going. Refusing to reread also lets you look at your work with fresh eyes during revisions.
Make a writing ritual.
You need to tell your brain that it is writing time. This could be anything, like brushing your teeth right before you sit down to write, or drinking coffee out of one specific coffee cup when you are in writing mode, or putting on a playlist that you only use when writing.
For me, I light incense and ring a bell, then ask my muses to help me. When I take a break, I'll light a new incense stick (it's Japanese incense so very light scent) and ring the bell again.
That's about it, though I may write another post with more tips. I hope these are helpful to you, even if you don't like them. Sit on them, think about it, and give it a try. You might find yourself spending more time writing and less time just thinking about writing.
I've created a masterlist of writing resources that you can peruse at your leisure, all for free.
The posts I write can sometimes take me hours - they're always intricate, always thoughtful. This one took me about 1 hour to write.
I do this as a labor of love for the writing community, sharing what I have learned from almost 15 years of creative writing.
However, if you'd like to support me, maybe you'll consider buying my book?
9 Years Yearning is a gay coming-of-age romance set in a fantasy world. It follows Uileac Korviridi, a young soldier training at the War Academy. His primary motivations are honoring the memory of his late parents, protecting his little sister Cerie, and becoming a top-notch soldier.
The book features poetry, descriptions of a beautiful country inspired by Mongolia, and a whole lot of tsundere vibes.
You can also check it out on Goodreads for a list of expanded distribution.
If you do purchase my book, don't forget to leave a review!
Reviews are vital for visibility on Amazon and help to support indie authors like me. Whenever you love a book, be sure to let the author know! It's much appreciated.

This weekâs writer spotlight feature is:Â Pricklywhicket/@messessentialist ! Prickleywhicket has four fics published to AO3 -- All in the Steddie tag!
Our anonymous nominator recommends the following works by pricklywhicket:
so let's sneak in from the cheap seats, honey
it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)
start by pulling him out of the fire
"Sadie is so super talented in the way she describes literally everything. She is so good at writing and it's a shame that she's flown under the radar because she's not the quickest at putting things out there." -- Anonymous
Below the cut, Pricklywhicket answered some questions about their writing process and some of their recommended work!
Why do you write Steddie?
Why do any of us write anything? Because we want the story to exist in the world, and it doesnât yet, so we gotta hike up our pants and do it ourselves!
Whatâs your favorite trope to READ?
Hurt/Comfort. Iâm always a sucker for the blorbos taking care of one another, in whatever form that takes. This has always been true, across a truly astronomical number of fandoms Iâve found myself dabbling in over the years.
Whatâs your favorite trope to WRITE?
âŠactually, probably hurt/comfort! I just need to get those little dudes some validation and unconditional positive regard, okay?
Whatâs your favorite Steddie fic?
Iâm sure I wonât be the first one to say this, but: I HAVE TO PICK ONE????? Okay, alright. I can do this. Iâm gonna sayâŠSanctuary by SpicedSage.
Is there a trope youâre excited to explore in a future work but havenât yet?
Iâve only written canon or canon-adjacent fic so far, so Iâm eager to work on something thatâs completely AU. I think thereâs a unique challenge to keeping characters recognizable as themselves in a world that might not have all the same contexts that made them into that person.
What is your writing process like?
I would love to say itâs super organized and well-planned, but the truth is itâs mostly about routine and responsibility. I set aside time to do it every day, even if I can only tap out a few sentences. Iâm not very strict about writing in a straight line - I can stop a scene if itâs giving me trouble, write a note about what I think happens in some [brackets], and move on to something that I have more fully fleshed-out ideas for. Sometimes writing the next scene helps you know more about what needs to happen in the current one.Â
Do you have any writing quirks?
I'm sure my betas would say yes đ I tend to write a lot of dialogue - a lot of my revision process is going back through and realizing I have two pages of a conversation with no indication of whatâs physically happening in the world around the speakers.
Do you prefer posting when youâve finished writing or on a schedule?
Definitely when Iâm finished. Prior to my â23 bang fic, I had never written anything chaptered. I knew going in that I could NOT start posting if it wasnât finished, because Iâve been burned too many times by abandoned works. I didnât want to do that to people reading my fic, and the best way to avoid it is to finish before you post.
Which fic are you most proud of?
Easily start by pulling him out of the fire. The biggest, most ambitious thing Iâve ever attempted - I still kind of canât believe I wrote 85k.
How did you get the idea for start by pulling him out of the fire?
Like most terrible ideas, it was spawned in a fandom discord chat. We were discussing the tendency of Steddie fics to centralize the party at Steveâs house, because his parents are never there anyway. And then someone mentioned what if the parents came home and found their house occupied, and someone else mentioned Wayne being there, and it just sort ofâŠspiraled out from there.
When writing start by pulling him out of the fire, what was something you didnât expect?
I had no idea, going in, that I was going to write a comprehensive history of the Wayne and Eddie Munson relationship. I started writing it where I did to give some background on Wayneâs existing distaste for the elder Harrington, and then I justâŠkept writing. Over the course of a month or two I wrote 20k of WayneAndEddie that I had no idea was in me - it just kept coming.
What inspired it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)?
@wynnyfryd. It was a gift for her birthday. We were talking about our mutual love of Letterkenny, and she mentioned that the episode was her favorite and wouldnât it be funny if someone wrote⊠and the rest is history.
What was your favorite part to write from it's supposed to be fun (turning twenty-one)?
I had an unreasonable amount of fun with that one in general. But I think my favorite part was Eddie polling the party about what Steve means to them all. It was fun to sort of put myself in each characterâs shoes and think about how they would answer. Plus yâknow, any excuse to unironically love on Steve Harrington.
How do/did you feel writing so let's sneak in from the cheap seats, honey?
I believe my exact words upon deciding to write it were âjingles miserably to a blank google doc.â This was a classic case of saying âgod I wish there was a fic whereââ and having friends tell me that it was now my responsibility to write it. Iâm glad I did, though. I love that story, and it proved to me that I could write sex and publish it and not burst into flames. I also just really, really love summer storms. And Wayneâs use of the singular âherpe.â
What was the most difficult part of writing so let's sneak in from the cheap seats honey?
Getting over the fear of publishing something E-rated. It was just something I hadnât done, and I had a lot of anxiety that people were not going to respond well to it. I made three people individually review the sex scenes before I even asked anyone to beta the full fic. Of course I was worried for nothing, the reception for that fic was super lovely and gave me the confidence boost I needed to attempt start by pulling him out of the fire!
Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?
This is like asking me to pick a favorite child. Iâll say this: most of my favorite lines in start by pulling him out of the fire were taken directly from conversations @wormdebut and I had about the fic. Sheâs my number one cheerleader and sounding board, and sometimes sheâs so goddamn funny that I just have to include it. You have her to thank, for instance, for Steve quite literally dropping his croissant when he first sees Eddie in glasses.
Do you have any upcoming projects or fics youâd like to share/promote?
I have a couple of irons in the fire, but nothing Iâm ready to share just yet! Iâve been taking a breather from writing (blame baldurâs gate 3, okay) but my WIPs are still very much IP. Stay tuned!
Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?
Not that I can think of!
Thank you to our author, Pricklywhicket, and our anonymous nominator! See more of pricklywhicket's works featured on our page throughout the day!

11, 12 and 17 for the fic writer asks <3
Hello my friend <333
fic writer asks
11. a WIP youâd like to finish someday
Oh there are so many. Right now, that's fake hanahaki, although that one should be getting finished soonish, because I'm 30k deep already and we will come out victorious. other fics that have been on the backburner for a while now are the auswilly fake dating, and the werewolves with no werewolves fic, which has been haunting me for around 2 years? And I hope I can get to those this year!
12. a trope youâre really into right now
Well I recently finished my leverage rewatch so I'm very into heists and cons but tbf most of my free time (dead hours at work) is spent fighting fake hanahaki so there hasn't been that much reading from me! I am, however, itching for the kind of fic that you finish and leaves you feeling hollow because of how good it was so if you have any recs, I'll take them <33
17. talk about your writing and editing process
Man this will be very long and also maybe a bit confusing. I'll post under the cut.
The most important part to understand about my process is that there's no editing. There is a final revision, where I go over the text to polish it and catch stray typos, but I don't really write in drafts: what you get posted to ao3 is what the fic has looked like, most of the time.
So, my process goes a little like this: I get an idea, I write down the scene that comes to mind (most of the times with the longer fics, we're not talking about a fleshed out idea, just a scene that I build the rest of the story around. In soulmates, for example, my goal was to tackle my issues with the concept as a whole, and in fake hanahaki, there's a scene that encapsulates this very well, but that I still can't share for obvious reasons), and then the rest of the story is built around it.
If it's a long fic, or a more complex one, say soulmates or hanahaki, to name hrpf examples, then I need to figure out the plot before I write it. It's something that only really happens with these fics because I can't write if I'm not satisfied with what I've written before.
I think of it as building blocks. I need to have a solid foundation to build on, because if it's wobbly, then I keep worrying it's going to bring down the rest of the structure, and there's nothing I hate more than spending hours on a thing, only for it to be absolutely pointless. Sometimes I get stuck with the base and I can't continue until i figure it out, but I can focus on other stuff, that helps me see the whole picture a little clearer. It's why I tend to write out of order, and, afterwards, I take all the pieces and line them up until they make sense. Currently, fake hanahaki is 60 pages long, and there's only like 45% in order. The rest are disconnected scenes that would probably confuse the fuck out of a reader, and that I have to line up to figure out what's still missing.
Once that's done, then the fic is pretty much done. Because I can't write if I'm not satisfied with the build up of a scene, I've gone over them a bunch of times, so there's no need for further rewrites. They were done as the scene was written. What it needs is a final revision to catch any typos, and then it's ready to go out.
If you're wondering, yes, this means that I rarely if at all use beta readers, also because I worry about annoying them with how much I write and switch wips and fandoms lol there are no deleted scenes either because if they weren't going to make it then they never got written and if they were on the page then I just have to figure out where they go. Is this method of mine the most efficient? Probably not, but it's what works with me and I don't think my works turn out that bad so I'm going to stick with it.
And I think that was it lol sorry for how lengthy this was, and let me know if there's anything that wasn't clear!

what advice do you have for planning and executing long fics? I'm writing one, but I'm struggling to weave together the subplots in a convincing way in my planning.
When it came to dog of war, most of it was just knowing what emotion we wanted to build, and what we wanted for the climax. A lot of stuff was us just filling in the blanks as we went, and we talked a lot of stuff out with our beta readers. Just having a second person to say 'im thinking of this, this, and this and Im thinking A and B could cause C which makes the thing I want happen but also I was thinking what if C just happens and it causes A and B' or whatever to helps. Worst case scenario you rubber duck it, best case they have an idea that helps you make up your mind.
The big thing though was knowing what the 'big thing' was in the first place - in Dog of War it was Princess' internal conflict of wanting to be a pet and being unable to get over her past trauma of being property coming to a head, and that her resulting actions causes her to get dosed with xenodrugs that will stop her heart.
Now you might notice that whether Princess gets away, only escapes for a little, or even runs at all isn't part of it. Ultimately, those details didn't matter so much. All we had to write towards the will they/won't they aspect of it all. We were putting cards in our hand for the big moment and we could play them however we felt best suited the narrative after much deliberation.
This can be a little patchwork of course, but if you keep in mind what you have more than what you want, you can focus on making sure the lines make sense while steering them in the right direction.
The other way is to just write the entire fic and revise revise revise. You'll be editing the fuck out of it with the above method of course, and it's harder to write and polish something longform without having support, but y'know. It's on the table.

Types of plot holes and how to avoid them.
(my first tumblr post)
What is a plot hole?
A plot hole refers to a gap, contradiction, or inconsistency in a storyline that disrupts the internal logic of the narrative, often leaving attentive readers thinking, "Wait a minute, that doesnât add up!" While these slip-ups can occasionally occur, they shouldnât be a major concern during the first draftâafter all, the initial focus should be on bringing the story to life. However, setting yourself up for success during the planning stage can help minimize these issues later on.
Itâs also worth noting that plot holes donât necessarily ruin a story. Their impact largely depends on the tone and genre of the narrative. For instance, in a whimsical or lighthearted story, readers are generally more forgiving of minor inconsistencies. On the other hand, in a hard science fiction novel or a tightly woven detective story, logical precision is crucial, and plot holes can break immersion.
With this in mind, while you shouldnât stress too much over them in the early stages, striving to avoid plot holes is always beneficial. Hopefully, these tips will guide you toward crafting a seamless and engaging story!
Laws.
These are the foundational rules that govern your narrative universe, and maintaining consistency with them is crucial for immersive storytelling.
For example, in hard sci-fi, youâll want to respect the established laws of physics as much as possible to keep the story grounded in realism. In fantasy, itâs essential to adhere to the rules of your magic systemâif you decide magic can only be used at great personal cost, you canât suddenly have a character using it without consequence just to resolve a plot twist.
To ensure consistency, especially in fantasy or speculative fiction, itâs a good idea to create a worksheet or document detailing the unique phenomena and laws of your world. This can include anything from how magic works to societal norms or the physical properties of your universe. Such a reference can serve as your guide, helping you stay true to the internal logic of your story and preventing accidental contradictions.
Timeline.
Timeline inconsistencies are one of the easiest mistakes to make in storytellingâbut the good news is, theyâre also fairly easy to fix with a bit of attention to detail.
For example:
If the king ruled until 1049, how can the book later claim the monarchy was abolished in 1035?
If Annâs friend died in 2012, how could he father the child she accidentally had in 2015?
These kinds of errors can confuse readers and disrupt the flow of your story. To avoid such slip-ups, itâs essential to maintain a clear and detailed document tracking your storyâs timeline. This document should include key dates, events, and character ages at different points. Having this reference handy will help you keep everything consistent, ensuring your story feels cohesive and logical from beginning to end.
Knowledge Inconsistency.
Contradiction plot holes occur when different elements or events in a story directly contradict each other, disrupting the internal logic and believability of the narrative. These contradictions can leave readers confused and make the story feel inconsistent.
For example:
A character says teleportation is impossible within the walls of a magic institution, yet we saw them doing it earlier in the story without any issue.
A character whoâs been established as meek suddenly becomes confrontational, but thereâs no clear trigger for this drastic change.
These types of contradictions can be tricky to catch, but your beta readers will likely be able to spot them, as theyâll be looking for inconsistencies. If you donât have beta readers or want to double-check on your own, during revisions, jot down every stated fact or rule in your story and cross-reference it later. When you find any contradictions, you can adjust the plot or clarify the logic behind the changes to maintain a cohesive and believable narrative.
Unexplained Exception
An inconsistency in logic occurs when a fact is stated, but readers can see an unexplained exception or deviation from it. While some genres might allow for more leniency, others demand a higher level of consistency.
For example, in fairytales, readers often overlook inconsistencies, like why Cinderellaâs shoe survives past midnightâit's part of the magic, and it doesnât disrupt the story's charm. However, in more grounded genres, like political thrillers or detective novels, even small logical inconsistencies can throw readers off. In these genres, every detail should make sense within the established rules of the world.
To catch these inconsistencies, itâs helpful to rely on your beta readers. As a writer, youâre deeply immersed in the world you've created, which can make it hard to spot certain flaws. Your beta readers, however, bring fresh eyes to the story and can quickly identify glaring inconsistencies that you may have missed. Their feedback can be invaluable in ensuring your narrative holds up under scrutiny.

How does one get considered by a major publisher? Is it just luck and the people you know? I canât imagine theyâre willing to look at everything that gets sent to them.
--
This is something that's actually pretty easy to research. I don't keep on top of it because I'm not interested in pursuing this, but I can give some basics.
There are hundreds of publications and blogs and agents' and publishing professionals' own social media accounts that talk about this.
You have to look it up imprint by imprint. Most of the time, in the current day, the imprints people really want to get published with don't accept unagented submissions. The open slush pile is a thing of the past many places.
Agents, however, often do accept unsolicited manuscripts, and they're frequently the first step for people trying to break in. There are various books and indexes where you can look up who's in business, who's looking for submissions, and what kind of content they cover.
Knowing people can certainly help, but new authors do break in all the time without nepotism or industry ties.
I don't think luck has much to do with it.
There's luck involved in those rare cases where someone is picked up by the first agent they approach, the agent is able to successfully sell the book right away, and it goes on to be a bestseller.
But most authors' success stories involve a number of years of sending their manuscripts around to various agents while writing more. That's not luck: that's perseverance.
I suppose there's some luck in happening to have tastes and strengths suited to whatever is trendy right now, but if you're envisioning a long-term career as a writer, even that won't be consistent.
--
As for how you get out of the slush pile...
Write a complete manuscript that is ready to publish as-is in terms of plot, pacing, and characterization.
Proofread it extensively.
Format it in the requested manner. (Could vary by agent/venue.)
Send it to an agent/venue that actually covers the genre/subject matter in your manuscript.
You would be surprised at just how many people don't follow any of these suggestions.
They think it's the publisher's job to be their beta reader and do extensive plot and style revisions with them, but in the modern day, most types of publishing don't have the time or money for that. They're going to proofread you and change your punctuation to house style. They might do more, but that's the most you can rely on.
If there is anything in your manuscript you wouldn't want to see on bookstore shelves today, fix it.
The others are even worse. People are always sending poetry books to fiction imprints and fiction to nonfiction ones, etc. Or they write three chapters because that's what submissions call for but don't have the rest of the book ready when an agent is finally interested. Or the first paragraph is littered with typos.
Basic professionalism like with any job interview goes far.
--
We all like to joke about all the total crap that does end up getting published, and yes, sometimes if you're already a celebrity or you happen to hit a trend just right or you're great at marketing yourself and have connections, that can be you.
But writing a really good book still works.
A lot of the time, people who are actually writing publishing-ready manuscripts and lots of them who submit to publishers for 10 years will eventually break in. People who stop after one manuscript or a dozen submissions generally won't.

hi!!!! absolutely LOVING attrition, I wanted to ask about your writing process...
how long have you had the idea for the story? what's your outlining process like? how big of a backlog did you have before you started posting?
your dedication and committment to this fic is incredibly impressive and i am astonished (and grateful!!!!) for the consistent weekly updates and fr i just wanna know how you manage it all... (speaking as someone who has been working on the same 40ish chapter fic for over 5 years lol....)
keep up the fantastic work!!
Omg hiiiii friend thank you for the questions I LOVE talking about writing!! I usually start writing long stories after I get an idea for a particular scene, and then I heavily outline around that scene and I plan everything down to the smallest detail, but for attrition I just.... didn't plan at all, that fic spawned to existence out of pure whimsy and happenstance. It was supposed to be a ONE SHOT đI started writing it in May of 2023 after I read the first book and I was like mm wouldn't it be interesting if Glinda found Elphaba at the convent surely this won't be longer than 5k words...
I am a severely delusional person.
By the time I hit 20k words I realized perhaps it would not be a one shot lol. I didn't really have an outline I just kept throwing ideas on the page thinking eventually I would just run out of things to say, but it actually took a very long time before that happened. The backlog is pretty much the whole fic tbh, I finished it all and sent it to my beta reader (who was horrified because the whole thing was one massive document not even divided into chapters) and then we went back and forth for months while I polished things up, tightened loose ends, added foreshadow, cleaned up the prose and things like that.
I'm still working on revising the final chapters, but the fic was 80% done before I started posting in November! I am truly more of an editor than I am a writer, the first draft of this thing was finished very quickly and it was very rough, so it took a lot of revisions before I was satisfied.
But anyway, yeah! I may not be the best person to ask how to manage it all because my process is weird I write super fast very unpolished first drafts then spend two lifetimes editing and revising. Mad respect to you and other writers who are able to write exactly what they want from the start and post that to incredible results!!
#yes the hyperfixation had me by the throat but also i had a lot of free time last year and i was Going Through Things so the stars aligned#anyway thank you sooo much for sending me this and for being so nice!!! <333#attrition tag
