NNT Week Day 1: Favorite Hero

NNT Week is here, hooray! To celebrate, @extremelypoorperson and I collaborated on a series of art and mini-scenes to celebrate our favorites all week. 

Ban and Elaine are so interesting to think about. He is immortal, and their connection will keep Elaine going as long as she is able... so after all this dies down, and the years go by, what exactly do a fairy princess and a thief do with themselves once the days of kingdoms and knights are over? Move to America and become bootleggers, of course.

It was actually all Elaine’s idea. Ban was fine living out his days in England after the Great War... after all, why would they choose to move somewhere where alcohol was against the law?!? What did Prohibition have to do with them? That’s exactly why they needed to go, she told him: they will give you fast cars, more money, and guns. Big guns. And in his mind, he was kicking down the door to the nearest way outta this dump--and to the land of the free. 

Between her ability to know which humans to trust and his vast knowledge of alcohol, they could make a ton of money. Plus, she argued, they’d be heroes. The Americans were suffering, they needed a brave and cunning knight with a knack for stealth and a talent for ignoring authority in order to do what is right to bring them the alcohol they so desperately deserved.

Even if he was still not convinced--which he very much was--then Elaine leaned over and whispered, I’ll buy you a guuunnnn...

Her smile and the way she batted her eyes at him was the final straw. That night, he bought two one-way tickets to America.

So yeah, they're both amazing and so is everyone else in their poor race (cough)

NNT WEEK DAY 6: FAVOURITE RELATIONSHIP

Gelda and Zeldris. You are perfect in every way, whatever Nakaba Suzuki has planned for you and despite the fact that the only picture of his where you two are together is a bit creepy.

I finally managed a version of their story where they get the genuine, no holds barred happy ending they deserve with ‘The Rose And The Thorne’. Here’s the moment they elope in that story.

“Gelda, I love you. More than anything. Will you come with me? Will you marry me?” Zeldris pleaded as he turned to face her. His demeanour was calm but Gelda could see the acute anxiety in his eyes and felt the slight tremor in his voice as it rang in her ears. “Everything’s ready. I know I’m not…”

Before he could finish, Gelda ran to him, wrapping her arms round his neck and clinging to him tight. “Yes!” she cried, stepping back slightly and caressing his cheek with one hand, tenderly stroking his chin with her thumb. “I love you. I’m so sorry.”

Zeldris turned his head into her hand, kissing her palm gently as he nuzzled against her. He took a tight hold of her waist in both of his hands, shuddering with relief as she ran her fingers into his hair to pull him closer towards her, his chest tightening uncomfortably with the unbridled joy. She wanted him and that was all he needed to be happy. He summoned his darkness to form wings over his back and, as Gelda looped her arms round his shoulders, the lovers rose into the air. Zeldris spread his wings to flee the castle at speed, ignoring the vampire king’s loud shout of rage and protest as they soared through a large window, left open so that the giant king Drole could commune with the rest of the party.

We are back for a third year, and we cannot wait to see what everyone decides to do this year.

This year’s NNT Week will begin on Sunday, October 22 and end on Saturday, October 28. As a reminder, the themes are merely a suggestion and you do not have to follow them. They are a means for inspiration, not stress.

The days for this year will have two sets of themes in case one appeals more than the other. 

Day 1: Favorite Hero/Colors  Day 2: Favorite Villain/Growth Day 3: Favorite Minor Character/Rest Day 4: Favorite Species/Nature Day 5: Favorite Episode/Chapter/Scene/Quote/AU Day 6: Favorite Relationship/Despair Day 7: Favorite Battle/Hope

NNT Week Day 5: Favorite Scene/AU

When I asked @extremelypoorperson what her favorite chapter was before I even finished the question she sent me the picture of Elaine declaring she would be buying panties. I was thrilled because the look on Ban’s face at the end of that side story is one of my most favorite moments too.

So we talked a while about these guys, sitting and waiting for the girls to be done helping Elaine. Because no matter who you are, what powers you have, how many kingdoms you’ve saved, how many enemies you’ve defeated, even the Seven Deadly Sins have to sit and wait for their girlfriends. Especially if it’s the 1980s and it’s the height of the mall era.
