The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” 32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions. — Mark 12:28-34 | New International Version (NIV) Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® Used by permission. I might not have done anything for Niv's birthday, but at least I'm doing some worldbuilding for the tribe he's part of during his childhood
Ain't that something
Anyway here's the do it for him board again cuz i think im morally obliged to post that on his birthday now
Tumblr media
happy birthday baby boi
#the myriad tribe gets more and more insane the more i write down about them#theyre real meanies but theyre also so damaged on a bonerotting level#oh i like that word gotta use that in writing somewhere#like every single person in the myriad tribe is#deep down#not okay with what's going on in their tribe#but theyre just so forced to believe that this is the only way they can exist#they do assassination jobs from the good of their hearts#right?#they gotta let only the strongest survive#it's just the only way this will work for all of them#the people in the tribe are just so conditioned to believe this is the only way for them to exist that they force their children into deadl#schooling programs#forcing them to be in line in fear of them being killed in some horrific way#which is why there's such a push on obedience from an early age#“be disobedient and be killed”#which is terrifying but it's so deeply rooted into the people#that when dreamers like Klaus come along#they're immediately ostracized#which is also why kids aren't allowed voices in the tribe and are seen as less than until they've gone through training#to make their rebellion unnoticeable and teach them their voices don't matter#thus making them more obedient#so it's actually not “only the strong can belong” but “only the obedient can belong”#which#how am i ever going to portray this right through writing LMAO#ANYWAY probs to everyone who has read this far#i love the myriad tribe (as in. their deep worldbuilding based lore)#and i love developing them#and i love developing Niv and Klaus' arcs through it#cuz both of them aren't obedient at all and mainly Klaus dodges everything thrown at him in favour of his own mind

Niv-Mizzet: With our success in creating our own artificial omenpaths, I believe we are ready to move to the next stage in the Omenpath Project – sending a Ravnican through one of them.
Proft: That's very ahead of schedule! Should we look for volunteers?
Niv-Mizzet, arriving at the test chamber: I have already procured one.
Proft:
Proft: That's Rakdos.
Niv-Mizzet: Correct.
Proft: He's even still sleeping.
Niv-Mizzet: A representative from the Rakdos assisted us with moving him to the test chamber.
Proft: Are you sure having a Parun as the first test subject is a good idea?
Niv-Mizzet: What's the worst that could happen? That the omenpath is unstable and we finally find a way to kill him for good? That he ends up somewhere else where he isn't my problem?
Proft:
Proft: I can't change your mind on this, can I?
Niv-Mizzet: No.
Rakdos: *snork mi mi mi*

The entire world is in your mind which means whatever you consider “plausible” “possible” or “likely” happens. Once you start to defy the so-called rules of reality and return to your Self, everything will be considered possible to you.
Matthew 19:26 NIV:
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

so I have actually not stopped thinking about the bible verses in Nona the Ninth
(they are actually over taking my every waking moment)
I was raised with a religous parent, so in addition to solving the numbers code, I was curious what any of the actual verses from the book of John were, and typed them into biblegateway.com today.
And god. damn. it. Muir has done it again.
The very first verse is John 20:8 (NIV):
"Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed."
TAMSYN!!! HOW DID YOU GET THE NUMBERS TO LINE UP PERFECTLY FOR THE CODE A N D THE BIBLE VERSE????
i am losing my mind so much
i compiled them all into a Google doc and took a screenshot, so please let me know if the image doesn't load right :)
i went through all the verses and wrote them down to try and find a quote in each chapter that at least correlated to each theme of the verse(s) (please forgive me if they aren't perfect- and feel free to add on!)

*slides into your asks* you're taking reader prompts, you say? 👀
well, if you feel so inspired, I'd like to offer:
"For someone who claims to not be a cuddler, you couldn't keep your hands to yourself all night." + Poe (shocking, ik 🤭)
Please and thank youuuu 💖
thank you for the request hon! word count clocks in at juuuuust over 1k. no warnings besides a lot of fluff.
Tumblr media
"I'm not really a cuddler, actually.”
Poe glances up from his datapad — patrol rosters for the next week are pulled up, with a blank space where Niv's name used to be before he wound up in the medbay with the flu — to where you're standing at the side of his cot, appraising it like you would a ticking bomb.
(Poe would know, he's seen you disarm one.)
“You're not?” It shocks him, somehow, even though now that you mention it - yeah, he hasn't really seen you be that physically affectionate with anyone before.
Well, anyone besides him. You didn't mind his penchant for being touchy, seemed to like the press of his body besides yours when he sat with you at meals. You smiled every time he kissed the side of your head before he left for a flight, and pulled him into bone-crushing hugs when he made it back.
So he just assumed that meant you're as snuggly as he is. He'd kind of been counting on it ever since he invited you over, to sleep in his quarters for the first time since you became a thing.
(That's what you keep calling it, a thing. It's so early in that it's hard to say if this is going to be a long-term relationship, but it's been long enough you both know it isn't a fling.)
“No,” you reply, monosyllabic as you pinch the fabric of your pillow between your fingers. You'd brought your own because, according to you, his was lumpy. “I'm not, is that - I mean is that going to be a problem?”
Poe watches you for a moment, trying to parse out the complicated expression on your face; which you don't seem to like, because you drop your gaze to the floor, as if you think he'll see something he doesn't like — which is just kriffing impossible.
"Nah, it's not," Poe says eventually, clicking off his datapad. The clock is rapidly approaching double digits and he's got an early meeting with the General, so the rest of the roster can wait. Hell, he'll fly in Niv's place himself if it means he can catch some shut eye tonight. “I just hope you don't mind if I am, I can't really - turn it off in my sleep.” He exhales a nervous laugh as he says it, scratching the back of his neck.
To his relief, you smile. “I kind of figured you would be. You ready for bed?”
Poe's already beelining for his side when he replies, "Maker, yes," and you only laugh in return, crawling under his scratchy blanket and dropping your pillow beside his.
You both face each other, your face becoming shadowed as BB-8 dims the lights for the night cycle, and Poe seeks out your hand, gently pulling it up so he can hold it between the two of you, the edges of the pillowcases tickling your skin.
“Goodnight, Poe,” you whisper, the ghost of a smile on your face as you squeeze his hand and close your eyes.
Tumblr media
You wake slowly, reluctantly. You're warm, in that wonderful way that means the rest of the world is chilly, and there's a comforting firmness beside you that you have no trouble burrowing closer to — you don't remember situating your pillow like that, don't recall falling asleep hugging it, but you must have because there's something that you're clinging to like you are the last vestiges of your sleep —
And then you hear a chuckle, rough and full of affection, and feel the way your pillow dips with the inhale and exhale of breath, and all at once you remember that you're not in your bed.
Prying open your eyes, you tilt your head back and realize that at some point in the middle of the night, you'd done precisely what you said you wouldn't: you'd sprawled out almost entirely on top of Poe, one arm flung over his torso, legs tangled together, your head cushioned by the joint of his arm where it meets his shoulder.
"You know, for someone who claims you're not a cuddler,” Poe begins, tipping his chin so he can look down at you. "You couldn't keep your hands to yourself last night.”
Your face beats up with mortification and you groan, turning your head to bury it against his chest, just over his pec. He didn't have to phrase it like that. "Sorry, I didn't mean to hold you hostage.”
You feel his frame tense, and then he very gently nudges you back, shifting so you're both back on your sides. Your leg is still wedged between his, and you do your best to ignore that, which Poe makes easy, what with his easy smile.
"Hey, I distinctly remember asking you if you minded if I was snuggly. No need to apologize for beating me at my own game.”
You huff a laugh and bring your hand up to cup his cheek. “I didn't know I would. No one's ever accused me of being cuddly before, you know? And I've never had anyone who -” was as tactile as you craved, before Poe.
Even with your aborted explanation, Poe seems to get it, because he nods. "Glad you could discover it with me.”
“I'm discovering a lot of things with you,” you murmur, leaning up to press your lips against his in a lazy kiss. He tastes like sleep, but you genuinely don't care, not when his warm, warm hand comes up to cradle your jaw, and he's smiling against your mouth.
He's a little late for that briefing with Leia, though, because now that you know you like cuddling, you're extremely reluctant to let him go — and Poe isn't any better, coming back even after his shower to kiss you some more, until you're having to push him away and towards his door with the promise he can kiss you some more tonight.
It's definitely not a fling. But you think it's growing into something more than just a thing.

Quiet Time 9/10
What am I feeling today?
Pretty tired😅 I start nursing clinical again this morning and I didn’t get to sleep as early as I wanted to last night. But! That’s because my family wanted to celebrate my birthday🥹 they bought a tiny cake and made my favorite food and sang happy birthday to me. I felt a little bad bc I was practically gone all day with school and errands and only got to spend an hour with them and today I’ll be gone for a while too ☹️ but I love and appreciate them and honestly kinda felt a bit overwhelmed from all the birthday love yesterday😅
JOB 31 NIV
‭‭Job‬ ‭31‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬
“For what is our lot from God above, our heritage from the Almighty on high? Is it not ruin for the wicked, disaster for those who do wrong? Does he not see my ways and count my every step?”
Basically what Job is saying here is that God sees everything that we do and we cannot hide anything from Him. Therefore if we act in wicked ways (any way that goes against His desire for us) then the lot as a result is ruin and disaster.
Keep in mind this is Old Testament, but it still applies to us if we do not repent.
Practical: confess to sin to other people in your life to hold you accountable and repent of it!
‭‭Job‬ ‭31‬:‭5‬-‭40‬ ‭NIV‬‬
““If I have walked with falsehood or my foot has hurried after deceit— let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless— if my steps have turned from the path, if my heart has been led by my eyes, or if my hands have been defiled, then may others eat what I have sown, and may my crops be uprooted. “If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door, then may my wife grind another man’s grain, and may other men sleep with her. For that would have been wicked, a sin to be judged. It is a fire that burns to Destruction; it would have uprooted my harvest. “If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me, what will I do when God confronts me? What will I answer when called to account? Did not he who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same one form us both within our mothers? “If I have denied the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary, if I have kept my bread to myself, not sharing it with the fatherless— but from my youth I reared them as a father would, and from my birth I guided the widow— if I have seen anyone perishing for lack of clothing, or the needy without garments, and their hearts did not bless me for warming them with the fleece from my sheep, if I have raised my hand against the fatherless, knowing that I had influence in court, then let my arm fall from the shoulder, let it be broken off at the joint. For I dreaded destruction from God, and for fear of his splendor I could not do such things. “If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’ if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage, then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high. “If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s misfortune or gloated over the trouble that came to him— I have not allowed my mouth to sin by invoking a curse against their life— if those of my household have never said, ‘Who has not been filled with Job’s meat?’— but no stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler— if I have concealed my sin as people do, by hiding my guilt in my heart because I so feared the crowd and so dreaded the contempt of the clans that I kept silent and would not go outside— (“Oh, that I had someone to hear me! I sign now my defense—let the Almighty answer me; let my accuser put his indictment in writing. Surely I would wear it on my shoulder, I would put it on like a crown. I would give him an account of my every step; I would present it to him as to a ruler.)— “if my land cries out against me and all its furrows are wet with tears, if I have devoured its yield without payment or broken the spirit of its tenants, then let briers come up instead of wheat and stinkweed instead of barley.” The words of Job are ended.”
Here Job is going on to list all these things and that if he ever committed a certain sin or didn’t act accordingly in a righteous way, then yes he deserves the judgment and punishment for those sins.
A list of what he spoke of that still applies to us:
Walk in falsehood and deceit
Stepping away from the “path”
Letting our hearts be led by our eyes
Hands being defiled
Heart being enticed by another woman
Denying justice to his servants
Deny the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary
Keeping bread to himself and not sharing it with orphans
Not warming the needy by withholding clothes/garments
Putting his trust in money
Worship the sun or the moon (astrology)
Rejoiced or gloated in an enemy’s misfortune
Cursing against someone
Concealing his sin
Using something without payment
Practical: to be mindful of all these things and to be sure that we don’t fall victim to these acts! We must act accordingly by God’s standard even though it can be incredibly difficult or desire to do the opposite 🙏🏼

“[1] To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.[2] O my God, in you I trust;do not let me be put to shame;do not let my enemies exult over me. [4] Make me to know your ways, O Lord;teach me your paths.[5] Lead me in your truth, and teach me,for you are the God of my salvation;for you I wait all day long. [10] All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.[11] For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.[12] Who are they that fear the Lord?He will teach them the way that they should choose.[13] They will abide in prosperity, and their children shall possess the land.[14] The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,and he makes his covenant known to them. [21] May integrity and uprightness preserve me,for I wait for you.” (From Psalm 25, NRSV)
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26, NIV)
“Softening Your Heart” By In Touch Ministries: “When you trust God, there's no limit to what He can do through your life.”
“When we continually spend time with God in His Word, His presence will saturate our heart, making us sensitive and teachable. But just as a human relationship can grow cold unless we intentionally nurture it, the heart can gradually harden when we aren’t seeking intimacy with God. For our heart to stay soft and receptive, we must obediently—and promptly—respond to whatever the Lord tells us to do.
If you believe that God might be leading you in a certain direction, take the time to earnestly seek His mind on the matter and intentionally listen for His response. Then avoid getting busy with a substitute for what He originally called you to do. It would be tragic to work hard doing what you and others consider good, only to discover that you accomplished something that was not God’s intention.
Resisting the Lord often amounts to setting His purposes for your life on a shelf. And that will likely leave you feeling something is missing. There’s no substitute for God’s will, even when His plan might seem difficult or impossible. But when you trustfully approach God with a cooperative heart, there’s no limit to what He can accomplish through your life. So, step out in obedience today and say, “Lord, I want Your will—no matter what.”

I just wrote this all down for a paper I'm writing, so I figured I'd share this info in case anyone is interested and doesn't feel like looking it up!
Here is a list of all the Bible verses referenced in the John chapters of Nona the Ninth (pls let me know if I missed any). Keep in mind theres about a billion different translations of the Bible which can differ a lot, sometimes they even split the verses up a bit differently. So! Keep in mind, all of these quotes are taken from the NIV (New International Version) translation!
John 20:8
“Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.”
John 5:20
“For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.”
John 15:23
“Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.”
John 5:18
“For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.”
John 8:1
“But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.”
John 19:18
There they crucified him, and with him two others - one on each side and Jesus in the middle.”
John 5:1
“Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals.”
John 3:20
“Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.”
John 9:22
“His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.”
John 1:20
“He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely ‘I am not the Messiah.’”
John 5:4
“From time to time an angel of the Lord would come down and stir up the waters. The first one into the pool after each such disturbance would be cured of whatever disease they had.”
Jod Bless you all 😔🙏 Amen.

“In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." A little later, at his arrest, he said to Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?" (Matthew 26:39, NIV; John 18:11, NIV). The cup was very much on Jesus’ mind that night.
What was in the cup? We generally associate it with his crucifixion. We assume that when he prayed that the cup might be taken away, he was asking to be spared from that horrible and demeaning death on the cross. There’s truth in that assumption, and certainly the cup was connected with the crucifixion. But still—what was in it?
In both Old and New Testaments the cup of God is a reference to his judgment. For example, in Psalm 75:8 we read, "In the hand of the Lord is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs" (NIV).
Jeremiah 25:15 is even more specific: "Take from my hand this cup of the wine of my wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it." And Revelation 14:10, looking out into the future, speaks of the ungodly who "will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger."
So we see that the cup is a metaphorical expression referring to the judgment of God as expressed in the pouring out of his wrath on sinful nations and people.
What was in the cup Jesus drank at his crucifixion? It was the wrath of God.”

The Light of the Gospel
1 Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. — 2 Corinthians 4 | New International Version (NIV) Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® All rights reserved worldwide.
