im still looking for roleplay partners, preferably long term please. ive got worldbuilding and headcanons and plot ideas for all three fandoms and other things if that'll help. i can write three discord messages per reply if you like longer rps, but if youd prefer shorter rps i can do that as well (though i probably will write more anyway!)

i do adventure time, object shows, and little nightmares!! i can do alternate timelines, AU's and OC's (of which i have for all three fandoms!)

ive got alot of ninjago stuff i can talk about in pms if anyones interested, for ninjago i main garmadon but i can also play kai, cole, pixal, nya, and arin.

for object shows ive got plenty of ocs, or i can do canon characters from (ONE, TNM, ITFT, or AB) most of the characters can be negotiated and talked about in pms.

for adventure time i main iceking (and simon), and can do AU's and AT's and have plenty of AUs and alternate timelines! and headcanons

i like angst roleplays, slice of life, and probably more that i cant think of. i have been roleplaying for years so im willing to communicate with my rp partner and figure something out that we both enjoy !! currently i really want to roleplay with either the adventure time, little nightmares, or ninjago fandoms (though object shows are always welcome!) triggers and stuff can be discussed in pms.

Honestly, my favourite hobby at this point, is start a project, be super into it, make a few chapters or comics about it, write down ideas for scenes and character arcs and then never finish it. Rinse and repeat. If the story is lucky, I will eventually get back to it and make progress.

However I kind of made a rule for myself, that anything I release will eventually have an ending.

That is why I have so much in my notes and computer storage and barely anything on Tumblr or on ao3.

I love being a creative person :)

Anyway, I'm gonna be writing down some story ideas I have for a lot of fandoms, and y'all can tell me which one y'all are actually interested in.

So I can figure out if something is genuinely worth my time to sit down and finish.

Legit I only finished one fic in my entire life, and even then it took my friends to nudge me to finish it.

Ugh.

I've seen you mention on some posts that Ninjago had an affect on your relationship with being Asian, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts you wanted to share on the subject of Asian representation in Ninjago.

Feel free to disregard if the subject is too personal.

This is absolutely fine! In fact I’ve been itching for an excuse to talk about it for a while, because this show deeply influenced my writing growing up, and honestly I'm sick of most of the people getting noticed for discussing it being white.

So, I think Ninjago’s Asian representation is garbage. It’s not unique: there was a common trend in 2010’s kids’ media to make everything cooler by including Ninjas or, more generally, Asians Doing Martial Arts. I remember it being in media as distant as Club Penguin and many Flash games back in the day, as well as worse cartoons I don’t bother to remember the name of. I’m fairly sure adult-geared Kung Fu movies also had a hand in this, but I didn’t watch those as a kid.

But Ninjago’s particularly bad in that they’ve kept doing this for over 10 years, and it’s baked into their story.

Everything from them not checking up how ‘ninjutsu’ was spelled, to them not actually making the characters have Asian skintones in that one anime segment, to that one time they based Nya’s outfit off a clearly named Cheongsam from Pinterest and called it a Kimono? It all just reeks of people who wanted to make a quick buck of an entire continent’s ‘aesthetic’ and the mysticism around it, rather than portray them as actual people.

There’s a really great website by someone (who I can’t remember the username of) detailing all the Orientalism of the show up until about season 10. It dives very deeply into how the design language of Ninjago always seems to be based in making the actually ‘Asian’ parts of the show evoke more of a feeling of East Asia than actually being accurate to any one culture, and a lot of inaccuracies and why they arose.

A poignant point it raises is that any time we get a cool character or place, they’re always portrayed as more western-coded and ‘civilised.’ Jamanakai Village is poor and the villagers are rude. Ninjago City is civilised and clearly closer to what white people are used to living in. Lloyd is this world’s destined saviour, and he is blonde. There was *one* Asian voice actor on the VA team. And 2/3 of the Ninja team is white-coded by name.

Some my own observations over the years also include:

Jay’s ‘yin to my yang saying’ being completely made up.

That intro to… season 7, I think? Where the Ninja fight off some slave-drivers whipping people working a rice farm. Which never gets brought up again.

Nadakhan’s entire design is the only bit of South-Asian rep we get for the first few years, and his mythology is inaccurate to how actual Djinn work, and he’s acknowledged by the creators to have a sexy voice and be an absolute creep.

Having enjoyed Monkie Kid, I think Ninjago’s Asian rep is fundamentally unfixable. It was built to appeal to a western audience that simply thought the concept of ninja were cool, and thought of Asia only as a conglomerate where people had powers and did cool fight sequences or were otherwise savages. And also where the entirety of South Asia doesn't exist.

Like, I've tried to make an AU where I overhauled things completely to be better rep, and you just can't do it without breaking the show in half. Half of a character's name comes from Japan, and the other half from China. You're going to be losing something whatever you choose (shout out to Koko from the movie), and it gets uncomfortable to think about real quick, especially when the show's strongest suit is its characters.

As a kid who was part of a diaspora, Ninjago definitely didn't help my fucked up viewpoint of being cool only if I passed as white enough and viewed my parents' country as a magical but ancient land rather than part of reality.

Besides Four Fields, another Stardew Valley/Ninjago AU I have is a more npc focused one.

Cliff Gordon's villa? It's in a forest-y section of Pelican Town (maybe above Cindersnap or a private road connected to the Backwoods), and the inhabitants only know Cliff as Cliff, not his movie actor persona.

But aside that, when Cliff died, Jay eventually got his inheritance and was left wondering what to do with a giant empty villa.

The answer came when the Monastery got destroyed for the umpteenth time and with no place for the Ninja to go, Jay revealed the villa he inherited from his "uncle" and offers to get it cleaned up for everyone to move in until the Monestary is rebuilt.

Nya helps Jay remove any and all hints of his father's movie career from the villa and stores/sells it for some spare funds, and a couple days later let's everyone move in.

The farmer is still the player, no Ninja takes the farming role. But someone might want to be part time help...? (It's Cole)

They move in First of Fall, Third Year. In a mod-sense, this would allow the farmer to get associated with the set village population before introducing more people into the fray.

So what's like the premise of the ninjago farm au thing? Is Wu like the farmer or something? Another animal? Is Garmadon like a wolf since Lloyd is a wolfdog so like wolf father? Misako is like a Dog? What exactly do the "ninja" do in this au? are the citizens of ninjago other animals?

Wu is also a wolf! Garmadon and Wu are wolves raised by the FSM who is the farmer.

Garmadon went wild and left the farm, Wu also stopped being tame but he still protects the farm.

Misako is a Border Collie who travels with cowboys.

Yes, the citizens of ninjago are the animals of the farm. The ninja protect the farm, but they also have actual jobs on the farm.

Lloyd is the only one who's main job is guarding. For example, Cole is used for wool and plowing fields/moving grinders!

Punk asks how me and my f/o spend time together— in reality, I enjoy listening to the playlist I made about us, playing w the ninjago Lego sets I have, or writing fanfiction about us. In my s/i AU, we like to play video games together! The others like more fast-paced or high stakes games like FPS or horror type stuff (Lloyd and Nya absolutely LOVE Phasmiphobia, especially in VR), and it can be hard for me to keep up with— good thing Cole can always appreciate a nice, chill farming simulator :) he doesn’t really like scary things like shooting games or ghosts (sorry Astrid 😅) so he and I play stuff like Animal Crossing together :D

Gaming track asks if there are any core memories I have of my f/o. I’d say that the most impactful memory in my AU so far would be after a particular rough battle with the constrictai general. I had been injured and he was really worried about it— that was pretty early on, so it was the first time I realized that he cared about me so much 💛🖤

Hello again! I’m alive I promise, been working and figuring out some things.

As for this blog I’d still love to update it a little more, I simply forget to exist! Oopsies! But I would like to add a little summary for those who don’t feel like reading all I’ve wrote because yes, it is a little much and I understand.

A ‘Quick’ summary for the main points and characters in the Blood in the Water AU

• The original purpose the cult was created for was to train the public of Ninjago on how to defend themselves, so they know how to defend their city when the ninja weren’t around. However, as the leader grew more chaotic and corrupt, so did their intentions. It eventually turned into a group that wanted to overthrow the ninja entirely, as they were thought to be the main attractors of villains. Dethrone the ninja, the villains cease their attacks on Ninjago City. If only it were so simple.

• The leader, Briar (Briar Hayden), is somewhat secretive about himself, but will be open about his great hatred for the Ninja. The original intent of the cult was a sort of fighting-training class, and it slowly became an actual corrupt cult the more the ‘blood-bending’ part of Briar’s water powers were used. Said powers have corrupted him greatly from what he once was.

• Julien (Oliver Julien), is practically the second in command of the cult and has great respect and admiration for Briar. Julien met Briar before they were a whole corrupt cult leader, and is very concerned with how things are going. Though they often get along, they’ll bicker just as often about what the best road to go down is, legally, morally, and otherwise. Julien also has a sort of affinity for mechanics and machinery, but he avoids such interests like a plague.

• Harley, (???) is a well renowned animal caretaker and farmer inside the cult. Harley is a very kind person, and while her generosity and listening ear is given often, one should not underestimate her fighting ability because of this. Her and her shepherd’s crook make a deadly pair. While she has no memories before she was found by a kind couple and their daughter, Harley lends a kind ear and hand to those in need, regardless if they’re in the cult or not.

• Vipera, formerly of the Venomari tribe, has taken to observing humans inside the cult, within a retreat ran for them. He’s sort of a side-leader, since the retreat is in the woods, far from the main cult encampment in the desert. While he thoroughly enjoys gardening and cultivating various vegetables near his cabin, his calm and carefree demeanor is not to be mistaken for weakness. Though something strange must be happening at that retreat, right?

• Mari (Mari Jewel), though in the cult, primarily lives in Ninjago city. Every now and then they will make the journey out to the desert in disguise, and have supplies for the cult with whatever they needed. Water, food, clothing and fabrics… and sometimes marijuana. While this cultist primarily lives in an apartment, they have their own little farm of sorts in a basement of a good friend of theirs. Though they’re very calm and friendly, they often learn fighting skills from the cult’s leader with each visit. This combined with a Kama for each hand surely makes for a deadly combination not to be underestimated.
