The Lego Ninjago Movie but it’s a D:BH AU

@finn-m-corvex ask and I shall ramble :D

So basically— the Ninjago movieverse is styled like the world of Detroit:Become Human. Dr. Julien (who I hc in the m!verse is actually a good dad to his sons) builds Zane and Echo as the first sentient androids and takes great care of them— until his old coworker turns on him. This coworker, Jacob Harvey (nicknamed “The Mechanic”) captures Zane and wipes his memories while Dr. J and Echo manage to escape. Now armed with the plans to make nindroids, The Mechanic builds Cyberlife and starts his nindroid-selling empire.

He also has Cyrus captured to make more plans for him, leaving him with two assistant nindroids (Pixal “Pel” and Sentry, who obvious Cyrus goes “my kids now” and helps become deviant)

Zane was the original deviant in the sense that he was the original nindroid built to be sentiment and free (aka he didn’t need to be deviant), but after getting semi-reset he forgets and will need to become deviant to regain that ability

Now moving onto the others—

Lloyd is human (well, maybe still part oni-dragon because this IS Ninjago— the dragon is from his mom’s side, btw) and lives with Koko. Nya is his semi-adopted sister (Koko helps caretake for Maya and Ray while they travel on business trips).

Nya’s younger twin brother, Kai, is a nindroid (one of the “kid” models who’s specialty is “aging with human kids as a sibling so they don’t get lonely”). He originally does the chores at home because he’s expected to, but Nya and Lloyd help him become deviant because he’s scared he’ll get replaced if he doesn’t do the chores right. Kai’s the closest equivalent to “Kara’s story”, though less extreme, where Nya (who might secretly be a nindroid too, I’m not sure) runs away with him and Lloyd because a civilian finds out Kai’s deviant during the whole deviant situation and he becomes wanted.

(Side note— along with Kai came a 2-for-1 of the same model, a faulty nindroid names Kaigami who Koko took in for a while— this is the equivalent of movie!Bizarro Kai and later becomes the adopted sibling of movie!Cryptor)

Speaking of movie!Cryptor (or Zero, as I call him), he and Zane are the equivalent of “Connor’s story” where Zane needs to learn how to be deviant (again) while Zero is an incredible efficient deviant hunting nindroid (except, plot twist, he’s actually deviant and has been helping deviants escape for years by pretending to kill them). He was built by the Mechanic and he wants to take down his creator who sees him as nothing more than just a machine.

Rest of the Dorksquad time— Cole is human, though more of a cyborg after an accident (he’s kind of the ‘Cole Anderson’ equivalent, except he lives), and he stumbles upon Jericho by accident and befriends the nindroids there. He brings supplies from outside and updates them on news, and sometimes he DJs a bit for moral.

And Jay is the “Markus” equivalent. He’s an advanced prototype model that was gifted to Cliff Whoredon Gordon and worked for him for a little bit until he stumbled upon a meeting between Cliff and a mafia leader (named Master Chen). Cliff had him thrown to the junkyard in very rough shape where he managed to patch himself up with spare parts and was found and adopted by the young couple (Ed & Edna) running said junkyard. He then meets the rest of the squad and sorta accidentally becomes one of the leaders of the nindroid revolution as part of the “Secret Ninjaforce”.

Bonus— Chen (the Cheerleader) is also a nindroid who eventually gets kicked out by his human family, the Ambers (including movie!Skylor, who is an evil girlboss, and her dads, Master Chen and Clouse) and finds his way to Jericho as well

And yeah that’s the main basics, not too much else planned out yes (it was originally a SPBNR AU too, so show!Kai and show!Zane might show up, much to the latters bewilderment at how there are more nindroids but they are treated worse, and sometimes other show!nindroids make an appearance)

Starting with the movie!Bizarros— Kaigami is the only one I had full details on when the AU was first made (they are a bean and my little blorbo that needs all the hugs), but since then I’ve been spitballing some headcanons with my friends on the others—

In normal movieverse hcs, they go as follow:

- Jayden (bizarro Blue) is a young oni that snuck over from the continent of Onitoryū (the First Realm) to the continent of Ninjago (yes we hc’d that the realms exist as continents in the movieverse before Dragons Rising existed), saw Blue, and used his image as his shapeshifting disguise because he’s bad at shapeshifting fully (the fluffy hair hides the horns, the scarf hides the tusks/fangs, the hoodie pocket hides claws, baggy clothes hides tail, etc.)

— Charcoal (Bizarro Black) is a clone made by Vangelis to get vengeance on Lilly for messing up his plans back in the day (she’s a big hero in Shintaro because she split the land away from the continent of the Cloud Kingdom and made it its own mini continent/island)

— Oread (Bizarro White) is a nindroid built by Garmadon’s enginerds (he has seagull/pelican/osprey features because Garmadon has to insert sea-creature themes into all of his designs)

So in the D:BH AU, Oread would kinda be like RK900 (except probably get rescued too), Jayden could be one of the androids at Jericho that looks up to Blue as inspiration (or perhaps Cyberlife/the Mechanic tries to build a new Blue because he supposedly was destroyed?), and Charcoal could be— uh— a vibing human? Or an android teen model based off Black in case he didn’t make through the cyborg surgery?

Yeah White and Zero (Cryptor) share the role of Connor in the sense that Zero is more the deviant-hunter side (except already deviant) and White was deviant but lost his memories and thinks Cyberlife built him, not Dr. J, and follows their orders (he does eventually come to his senses and regains deviancy, probably while encountering Echo)

Blue does not want to be the leader of the rebellion because, you know, anxiety + social anxiety, but whoops he’s an advanced model that found himself in a leadership position and has accidentally started the revolution. 

And you are ABSOLUTELY right— Black would be the “North” equivalent (or Simon) because while Jaya is cute, movie!Bruise is just adorable (also I hc movie!Nya/Cyan as a lesbian as opposed to show!Nya)— Cyan would absolutly be the one to suggest violence though and if anyone hurt Blue (which technically Cliff and the Ambers already have since he got… a bit disassembled on his way to the junkyard), Black would be right there with her on letting the city burn

As for Luther- technically no, though the "Kara" story does already have the RGB sibs looking out for each other. EXCEPT I JUST HAD THE PERFECT IDEA WHILE TYPING THIS OUT- the Luther-esc figure could TOTALLY be movie!Morro (normally a tired college student looking out for his cousin Green, in this case either human or an android)

Ninjago but DBH au

Zane android: obviously. He's conner in this AU.

Cole is Hank. Probably a little younger, but a fit guy who goes rock climbing on weekends and likes to be left alone. Doesn't like droids because they pretend to mimic emotions and it makes him angry.

Jay is Markus. Sensei Wu kept him from being scrapped by some asshole and taught Jay to follow his passions. Before being caught as an android, he had been masquerading as a student of Wu's for two years before Garmadon crashed into Wus house, saw this... droid pretending to be a person and called the cops.

And...kai is an engineering bot. He works with high temperatures creating delicate android parts, and can ingest thirium in an inhaler because the extreme conditions he works in don't allow thirium to become fluid, much less solid. Ask me more about this please I have so many ideas. He is made of a mixture of different metals, and only after Nya meets him does he get "Skin" and hair.

Nya is his designated new human engineer, who's in charge of upgrading him and telling him what to create. She designed him hair and skin because, although it might be a little bit of a hazard, he seems so...alive. he corrects her and laughs, things she's pretty sure aren't included in an Engineer Bot programming. They meet the gang when Zane goes to break out all the androids only to find Nya and Kai desperately assembling a new, advanced kind of android: L.L.O.Y.D.

Skylor is Kara. Pixal is Alice, and Morro is Luther.

For them, the stories a little different, with Skylor being a regularly wiped servant to the Overlord, who had stolen Pixal to experiment on her. This time, Skylar escapes.

Dareth is Simon. Harumi is North (not evil! Just baby)

Ik he's a minor character and there's probably not much about him, but if you can tell me anything you have about Julien, doesn't matter what au... I've just been recently craving Dr Julien content.. so if you have anything just say so.... Only if you want to ofc...

Dr Julien is in my kids au, which is just... the ninja and other EMs are kids being taught by Garmadon and Wu, in hopes of building stronger bonds so no one betrays anyone like in the Serpentine War. I don't think I have much lore for him in that though, aside from him being the previous Master of Ice's son (but he didn't know that). He also has kept the fact that Zane and Echo are robots a secret, for some reason.

Ooh, I've got some interesting stuff for superhero au, I think. He's a scientist and inventor, of course; friends and coworkers with Cyrus Borg and his wife, Estelle, along with his own wife. She dies in a car accident with Zane driving (it was a snowy night), and Zane almost died too; but they were able to rescue him and basically turn him into a cyborg. Zane has mixed feelings about this. He also feels incredibly guilty about the accident, even if Hans (Dr Julien) constantly assures him that neither he nor his little brother Evan (Echo) blame him.

He doesn't know yet that Zane ended up with ice powers, he's kept that pretty secret. Dr Julien, like Cyrus, is somewhat important - Evan finds out about Zane's ice powers when he freezes people who were trying to kidnap them to get to Dr Julien.

And he's kinda in high school au, only in flashbacks though as Zane slowly regains his memory. (He got beat up by anti-android people while searching for Cyrus, after his father's death. They did something that kinda messed with his memory. Jay helps him with this. The main part of the story is remembering/finding Echo and stopping Cyrus' corrupt father, but Dr. Julien is still important.)

OH! Zane knows Cyrus in that au because when Cyrus was a kid, his dad was taught by Dr Julien, in their house. He'd bring Cyrus along, and he befriended Zane, and then Echo when he was activated. Dr Julien was kinder to him than his own dad was, and Cyrus admired him very much.

As the title suggests, it's inspired by DBH, but you don't need to have any game knowledge to read it. It follows the story of Jay, when he finds Zane, an android, unconscious and takes him in his dorm in secret. Together, they uncover the dark secrets behind Borg Industries. Read it HERE!

Ghost!Zane AU by @lindsey-chr-not-found: Takes place after season 3, where Zane wakes up as a ghost with no memory of his life. He only knows he holds some sort of connection to the ninja, so he follows them around in secret. But he is not alone... Check it out, at @ghostzaneau!

Befriending The Criminal by @itsjustperi95: YOU KNEW THIS WAS COMING... BTC is one of my favorite AUs/fanfics ever, and also one of the first bruise AUs I read! Cole gets out of prison, but only under Jay and Lloyd's care, who just so happen to be in the police. From then, Cole and Jay only grow closer together. You can read it HERE!

Just as a note: I'll probably base most of the story on Jacksepticeyes playthrough bc it's easy and I don't want to play DBH

So, for more lore backstory, Instead of Cyberlife we get CyberStone (get it? Cyber borg? Stone army? yeah? yeah whateve-) Anyways Elijah Kamskey is Dr. Cyber Borg.

ANYWAYS

Borg retired(was fired) after creating the blueprints to a detective android. It was then handed down to a new and legendary coding engineer and her designated engineering bot: Nya and Kai

Here's where things start to differ though: Zane can't deviate. Because there is nothing to deviate from.

Nya made him good enough to 'feel' human feelings, leaned a little hard into the people pleasing, but 'forgot' to give him an override command. as such, he is essentially, born a deviant. However, that doesn't mean he's the best with feelings, especially in the beginning.

Nya has him on a much mor frequent saving schedule, saving his memory ever 5 minutes instead of the typical hour. He's as human as she could make him and she doesn't want to lose any part of him if she can.

Zane managed to convince himself he is a typical android, thanks to the Overlord. A piece of code that was snuck in there from the Head of CyberStone. Nya isn't aware of it, as it was implanted right before he boot up.

Still, Nya treats her droids surprisingly well. At least in android terms. She lets them walk around even if they don't have an objective, and encourages them to download seemingly 'unrelated' media and knowledge to try out. Zane says it's good for learning chemistry and practicing dexterity, but she thinks he just likes baking cake. Not that she's complaining.

Jay, on the other hand, is an elegant show bot, a limited time bot designed to handle selling cars to rich snobs. This allows him surprising acess and knowledge to art, design, and engineering. If he downloads more manuals on engines than required, no one cares enough to check.

When one of said snobs gets too rowdy with him, Jays directives tell him to protect the car, resulting in him shoving said asshole. This makes people mistakenly believe he deviated, and he is taken to a police station. Cole is Hank. Probably a little younger, but a fit guy who goes rock climbing on weekends and likes to be left alone. Doesn't like droids because they pretend to mimic emotions and it makes him angry.

Jay is Markus. Sensei Wu kept him from being scrapped by some asshole and taught Jay to follow his passions. Before being caught as an android, he had been masquerading as a student of Wu's for two years before Garmadon crashed into Wus house, saw this... droid pretending to be a person and called the cops.

And...kai is an engineering bot. He works with high temperatures creating delicate android parts, and can ingest thirium in an inhaler because the extreme conditions he works in don't allow thirium to become fluid, much less solid. Ask me more about this please I have so many ideas. He is made of a mixture of different metals, and only after Nya meets him does he get "Skin" and hair.

Nya is his designated new human engineer, who's in charge of upgrading him and telling him what to create. She designed him hair and skin because, although it might be a little bit of a hazard, he seems so...alive. he corrects her and laughs, things she's pretty sure aren't included in an Engineer Bot programming. They meet the gang when Zane goes to break out all the androids only to find Nya and Kai desperately assembling a new, advanced kind of android: L.L.O.Y.D.

Skylor is Kara. Pixal is Alice, and Morro is Luther.

For them, the stories a little different, with Skylor being a regularly wiped servant to the Overlord, who had stolen Pixal to experiment on her. This time, Skylar escapes.
