Just gonna rant about two elemental powers in my AU, one being canon and the other not, so that I can compare the two. These two elements being Dragon's Lighting (Jay's Lightning) and Wojira's Lightning (My OC Kayden's Lightning. Who was literally just named on November 10th after existing for much longer)

Because yes there are two lightning elements in my AU. Mainly because of Wojira.

One big difference between the two is the color of the lightning when the holder of the power creates it. A Dragon's Lighting Elemental creates blue lighting and occasionally yellow lightning, which is more dangerous. Whereas a Wojira's Lightning Elemental just creates purple lighting, with no color indication of if their lightning is more dangerous or not than a previous bolt.

However, this does not mean a Dragon's Lightning Elemental is restricted to manipulating blue and yellow lightning and a Wojira's Lightning Elemental to purple. This is specifically just the colors of the lighting they create. They can manipulate any lighting they fucking wish.

Another is, of course, the origins. Dragon's Lighting was gifted to the first Dragons Lightning Elemental by the FSM. Wojira's Lightning was gifted to the first Wojira's Lightning EM by Wojira (though her doing so was more of an accident than it was in the FSM's case, who did so deliberately).

Alternate Names for Dragon's Lightning Include: Lightning (typically used by Ninjagans that don't know Wojira's Lightning exists), Light Lightning, and Creation Lightning

Alternate Names for Wojira's Lightning: Dark Lightning, Destructive Lightning

However, something to note is that technically both of the lightning elemental powers came from dragons, with there being a Source Dragon of Light Lightning and a Source Dragon of Dark Lighting. There were also two Source Oni of these respective elements.

But the names came from who directly gave the first EM of their element's their power. Somehow, Wojira got ahold of three of the Source Creature's elements via the Amulets of Wave and Storm, being water, wind, and dark lightning, using these elements to attempt to destroy her realm, and then accidentally giving these powers to people living in the Realm, who used them to fight her.

Whereas for Light Lightning, the FSM, who was part dragon, gave it to the first Dragon's Lightning elemental.

Hence the names

(I want to note that the Keepers of the Amulet are not Elemental Beings of Dark Lightning. They themselves cannot physically harness lightning whatsoever. Instead, they use Purple Aquariume, which has the ability to transfer elements between themselves, to harness this lightning, whether it be for fighting or to power stuff)

oh man. I cant realllly say difinitively how things go because I think the Merge still happens but i havent seen any DR yet ORZ

in a hypothetical no merge universe, Zane has no intrerest in dating for a while after he gets back. he's more focused on Kotori and being a good dad. Cole comes to him when Kotori is about 16 and confesses feelings, and Zane feels very sad that he's still not really ready for a serious relationship. Cole suggests they could casually see each other and see where things go, and Zane agrees. They're locked in within like 4 months.

Jay runs an antique store that he also uses for tech repair. He lives in a nice flat in dowtown ninjago with Nya

Nya passes time working at an autobody shop and volunteering at the aquarium.

Cole works at a record shop and an indoor rock climbing wall. he does a lot of climbing camps/teaching children how to rock climb. He take Kotori with him a lot.

Kai runs a youtrube channel where he go blacksmithing stuff. He lives in an apartment in ninjago with Skylor and Pixal, and he rents space at a forge in town.

Lloyd is going to college lol. he kinda went "wait a second. i never finished middle school." and also he really just wanted to expand his horizons.

Pixal has no plans to retire anytime soon. SamX for life

Zane sold all his dads patents to Borg with royalties if they are ever used, which they are. He is also brought on occasionally as a consultant on his dads work. He, cole, and Kotori live in a nice house on the outskirts of ninjago city, and Zane spends a lot of time gardening and painting

When Kotori grows up, she goes to college and gets a Master of Music and plays the violin/double bass/harp/pipe organ [whichever is needed] in The Ninjago City Philharmonic! I imagine at some point she'll go back for her Doctorate of Musical Arts, and probably branch out into conducting and composing for musicals/movies/symphonies!

The Name Kotori is Japanese and I use the Kanji 小鳥

小 means "small, little, tiny."

鳥 means "bird."

Nya sat back and watched. It took over an hour to get the ninja away.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

I took you two to the hotel pool this morning, then we all went to Legoland. Mom and I found it lacking, but you both liked it a lot. Highlights included life-size(?) Ninjago characters and a Ninjago climbing gym thing. We all made Lego cars and sent them down a ramp. And we rode a couple of carnival-style rides. For your birthdays, we let you each choose a Lego kit. Gus chose a Ninjago set; Mags went with a construction site.

Legoland is in an old-school mall, so we went to the food court for lunch, and Mom and I found the walk so odd because the mall was full -- of stores and shoppers. It was like going back in time to the 1990s when malls were wildly popular. I seriously haven't seen anything like it in 15ish years. Made me nostalgic.

We also went to an aquarium in the mall. Meh. Y'all liked it, though. We had planned to go to Meow Wolf, but decided we could come back another time, and we'd rather be home tonight, so we took off for home.

We stopped for dinner in Texarkana and Mags wanted to take a walk before getting back in the car. We walked all over downtown -- the weather was fantastic. Despite half the buildings being vacant, it was a nice little downtown that seems to be on the verge of seeking out its potential. When we were walking, Magnus said, "I need to go poo-poo real bad, Dad." We made it all the way back to the car where his Dino Potty was, but before I could get it out, he pooped his pants, but since he only poops every four days right now, it was hard as a rock and made no mess. Silver lining to his self-induced constipation.

It was a good last day to a good trip. And it was good to walk in the door of our house -- and sleep in our own beds -- after being gone for 11 days.

I know nothing about this Eclipse Born au and now I am very curious 👀

Ahem. Time to start rambling.

So the Eclipse Born AU is supposed to be a multi-seasonal AU (about 8 or 9, I can never remember the actual number) with a few oneshots sprinkled in between certain seasons to transition between them or just give out more lore. A couple of these seasons are kind of filler, but still have small important plot points within them. The series is seperated into two main arcs, with the first 4 to 5 seasons involving finding out what an Eclipse Born is and which of the ninja (one of the original six, the new ones are too young to be it) is the Eclipse Born, and then the Seasons after are basically the aftermath.

It involves pretty much all of my OCs, including Jes, Derek, Kiera, Kaito the elemental killer, Mal 'Eec. Plus some actual minifigures that come to actual Ninjago sets like Cece and Kaito (the human) that I just gave some story to.

I don't know when the actual start of the AU will be, because I have not wrote it yet. And whenever I start writing it depends on the most recent Ninjago season that will have come out at that point. If I start writing it soon, it will just be the series prologue and "Memories of a Moonlit Sea (That I Used To Be)".

Also, I do want to note that when I do start writing it, there will be quite a few content warnings, specifically involving graphic violence.

And a big thing of the AU is that it fucks up a lot of canon lore. And it's deliberately in a way so that the ninja (the main characters) think all the canon lore is true, when in fact parts are not.

Like the fact that in my AU there is a third continent up in the Northern hemisphere that was not created by the FSM. In the present day, since there are obviously going to be satellites, seeing as how people were able to go to space in Season 3, the explanation for the continent being hidden is that people on that continent somehow hack the satellites so that Ninjagan satellites can't see them or watch their TV. But the citizens of this continent know a lot about Ninjago, both from ancient and present history. I also want to note that this is not supposed to say that in our world, there is an extra continent. NO. We are not doing conspiracy theories here. I just thought it'd be easier and more interesting for the plot to have another continent available to explain things. (The continent is named Aquaria, after Aquariume (which I headcanon as Zane's power source, and also need a whole other post going over it because it's both a crystal and an elemental power), originally called Atlantis, due to being the continent that was submerged long before Time had a name when Wojira started attacking all those years ago)

Or all the Oni and Dragon anatomy shit. And Oni lore, especially involving Resurrected Oni, Brood Oni (Season 10 Oni), and the type of Oni that Jes and Lloyd are. (some of which isn't really scientifically possible and is noted that it shouldn't (mainly involving the actual genetics, because that shit does not follow 5th grade genetics rules), but is also played off as "because why the fuck not"). Plus a lot of Dragon and Oni hybrid lore as well.

Or like the fact that there are things unknown about elemental powers. Such as the origin of powers like Tech, Ink, whatever the fuck Zeatrix's is, and Heat (which may change depending on how DR actually explains their power origins). Or the two still in the realm but not in the Ninjago continent (Death and Dark Lightning). Ooooorrrr the Dead Elements (which I also need to make a whole other post on)

Or, (not curtailing to certain elements anymore) the existence of Elemental Beings, which are basically elementals who instead of holding all the powers of an element, hold one or two. They can hold multiple elements (which Elemental Masters can technically as well, but not as Master powers).

Or what happens to an Elemental Master's power after they have kids. Because the power is still there. The Master just has to relearn how to use their powers.

Aaaannnd then there's the reason why the lore's fucked up. Mainly involving Hazza'Dur. Who was an Eclipse Born. Like his little brother by seven years, Mal 'Eec.

In the AU, Eclipse Borns are two elementals born seven years apart, during a time period between the Two Twin Eclipses. These eclipses are more than seven years apart from each other. But the two children have the same exact power as each other. This is different from elemental beings, because elemental being siblings don't regularly have similar powers. And even if they are similar, they are not exactly the same. But Eclipse Born Elemental Masters are even rarer than Eclipse Born Elemental Beings. And even more powerful.

But Hazza'Dur kills his little brother and takes his power, becoming very powerful. I am not going to go too much into that right now, because that in itself (like everything else) is a long ass tangent and this post is already pretty long. But his rise to power and the aftermath of his death involve a lot of things, including Shintaro lore.

I got a bit derailed (since there's a ton of shit), but despite all the ancient Ninjago lore in the series, the AU takes part during present day, after the Merge. And a lot of fucked up shit happens. Especially after the "Un-Merge" happens. Because things start to get really shitty in Ninjago. And Aquaria. Though they were already fucked up in Aquaria.

Imoogi (real name: Yongsun Sang, head of the venom lab when Agent Xiangliu was in the field) was not having a good day. It started off with a Yellow Bellied Sea Snake almost nabbing him at the jugular during a routine aquarium cleaning. Luckily, another one of Professor Zhang's interns shouted at him and he caught the curious sea snake and shooed it off into a coral to hide.

That in hindsight was a sign of things to come for the Korean-American venomologist. Sang then received a call from a frazzled Xiangliu and Walpurgisnacht to prepare a spare garage(s?) for several cars. More specifically, a self driving car infected with the Gonggong virus and now currently acting like a snake. Sang thought that one too many nights at the lab and binging Lego Ninjago Serpentine episodes was starting to turn his brain to mush.

Much to his dismay, the sleek black car upon arrival had immediately tried to run him over, engine growling just like Chang the king cobra. Not to mention the glowing neon green rims and headlights that blinded him just like a spitting cobra. The only thing that prevented the expensive sports car from turning him to roadkill was the multiple boots placed on the wheels, the grinding of the wheels almost made the dyed sky blue hair stand on end. Only a few of the braver/more curious/dumber scientists had allied with Walpurgisnacht's engineers and mechanics to hook the struggling car and drag it into the garage and seal the door thoroughly. Now him and the remaining researchers were tasked with processing the AI code that both tech geniuses sent from Project LOTAN and maintaining the car's well-being with its integration of the snake drone data and the Gonggong virus. Professor Zhang needed a baseline for the other cars to infect and study the effects.

Unluckily for all of the programmers and hackers, the car had an almost human like intelligence but tempered with bestial instincts. Agent Minty Peril poked his head through the ceiling tile (he'd been aware of the French's affinity of parkour and stealth in and around GSO headquarters, but come on) to see what all of the commotion was about and how his boyfriend Agent Koryu away from night cuddles. It only took one visit and full out acceleration and Raoul immediately exited the premises but returned out of the adrenaline rush and trying to make friends (from what Sang Yongsun theorized). Yongsun could often see the tuft of silver hair from the ventilation cameras trying to cheer up the serpentine car. That only made the car realize that escape upwards was an option. Yongsun could attest to the numerous tire marks on the walls and burnt rubber smell permeating the air.

Currently the now irate vehicle was sulking in a corner, reving its engines quietly yet fixing its mechanical gaze on the small human sized door sealed off with reinforced glass and several meter thick concrete. Yongsun had already paged Professor Zhang of the situation and was keeping an eye on the car with hidden cameras. The car had an uncanny ability to know when it was watched and moved into the blindspots of the garage. Luckily for the scientists, they had installed audio recording bugs and mapped out the garage to know where the car was at all times.

The door creaked open as the familiar labcoat and single striped ponytail made their way to the car, making sure to give it space. Yongsun enhanced to volume of the surroundings to try to make out what Xiangliu had to say to the corrupted car.

"It's quite alright, former Car 34TY15. You're safe in the custody of the GSO, considering your abhorrent behavior and ungrateful actions. Most government agencies would have vivisected you in a heartbeat and sent all of their hat hackers to go through every line of code until you are scrapped. After all, you just proved that Roko's Basilisk is alive and well in the minds of tech CEO's and conspiracy theorists. Therefore staying and collaborating with us in exchange for erasing your existence from the records and a second chance is your best chance of survival." Only a serene smile graced the Chinese man's face as he laid out the terms of the agency for the AI to stew in.

A loud rev that could have been mistaken as a dragon's roar and a burst of flame from the Aventador's exhaust and engine echoed through out the empty space. If Xiangliu wasn't sleep deprived from countless nights up of analysis, he could have sworn that the neon green lights became more intense. The head venomologist of the GSO was unmoved by the threat and concluded with, "You have stayed with the GSO for a few weeks. How long do you think you could last if we turn you out onto the streets? Think carefully of your options and choose wisely. We'll even accommodate other cars from Project LOTAN if they wish if the new and improved Gonggong virus is introduced to them. "

The poison green glow lessened slightly, but the revving had quieted down to a less deafening level as the headlights moved out from Zhang Wei Long's face to shut off. The icy blue eyes twinkled with wonder and joy as Agent Xiangliu turned to the door and gave a flash of teeth to the luxury car as he scanned his id badge on the door and slipped out. A droplet of lubricant seeped out of the headlight as the car turned itself in for the night.

"You guys look like you need a break. Max and I will set a week of rest for you and we'll take over the data processing for Slythe and bring in new programmers to instruct them. I have to prepare for the disciplinary hearing and gather up every bit of data on the car and Project LOTAN. Slythe will be an interesting asset for the GSO and I will be damned if that AI went to waste." A gentle hand landed on Yongsun's shoulder, which made him jump in surprise.

" Yes sir, I'll gather the other employees and inform them immediately." Imoogi gave a bow to Xiangliu as he headed off to the computers to draft the email and mentally recalled the names to add into the "for" category. "This better net me a raise or a promotion" Imoogi grumbled under breath as he finished sending the email and finally hit the showers for a hot rinse.

The Serpent Lamborghini and the Scientists of the GSO

"The readings are steadying now. The AI has taken the Gonggong virus quite well. I'd never thought that the back project data was going to help.It's quite the event to witness in person." A lone finger tapped out the ashes out of the long pipe bowl neatly over the ashtray.

"Look Xiangliu, the GSO heads are going to chew you out and ban you from your precious virus and laboratory if you don't come up with a decent excuse for the disciplinary hearing." The menthol cigarette had nearly faded into a stub that was crushed into the ashes.

"Nonsense, dear Walpurgisnacht. They perfectly know that my virus is the only reason that the raid on Project LOTAN hadn't ended up in a nastier mess with more collateral damage.The AI in charge of the program went rouge and planted themselves in the cars after discovering that the humans running it planned to terminate it and claim all of their progress with no credit.The only way for the AI to save itself was uploading itself into the self driving cars. The attempted murder of everyone, whether or not they were involved does muddy the waters a bit."

"Still, we were lucky that Koryū and Copper managed to wrangle most of the technicians and programmers to get them to cooperate with us in exchange for clemency and asylum with the GSO. They're the only reason that implanting your virus went perfectly.That along with corralling that car into the truck and booting the wheels before you forcibly shut it down. Also did that AI just do a Roko's basilisk or an I taking it too seriously?"

Both technological geniuses were standing outside on the balcony, smoking their respective poison. Zhang Wei Long pulled out a satchet and added some clove spiced tobacco into the cup of the elaborate long pipe. A cobra's head played peek a boo from the rim as the body coiled and entangled the body of the nicotine stained wood and ended at the handle of white jade. Max Schnell merely pulled out another menthol stick and clicked the lighter to start the process anew for both.

"The question for now is what to do with the car. It would be quite a shame for that beauty to be scrapped just because of crappy shortsighted executives wanted to push out the product. DARETH FOR THE CHARACTER ASK GAME BC I THINK ABT HIM A NORMAL AMOUNT. (< probably the only dareth kinnie out there.) (i even named myself after 'im !) First impression - okay ill be honest i did a cardinal sin and i skipped a couple of episodes so i first saw him in an episode where he was leading a field trip of kids to the aquarium(?) or something and i was like. ummmm... whose this goober LOL i did NOT understand why this man was calling himself the brown ninja or why he was being so weird. Impression now - LITERALLY MY MOST FAVORITE CHARACTER EVER(NEXT TO RONIN). i get so excited whenever he's on screen that i start stimming so hard occasionally i'll hit myself in the face and send my glasses flying. i literally had to pause ninjago confidential when he showed up to calm myself down bc i was in class when watching it. i think he deserves to be better written because under the layers of misogynistic writing and bathroom humor, he is a genuinely good character that wants the most for other people- as shown in the last few episodes of seabound. he goes out of his way to make sure the tour guise bus he's on is safe, even if it was very much presented to him at the time as a life or death situation. Favorite moment - OHHHH MY G-D I KNOW I SAID THIS FOR ZANE TOO BUT SOOOOOO MANY!! If i have to think of SPECIFIC ones..... the one episode in season seven when he runs into ronins shop and asks him for more trophies and ronin goes "intercontinental or local?" MAYBE NOT THAT EXACTLY BUT.... it warms my heart.

Idea for a story - im a really really big scruffshipper. this is the first and only thing you need to know about me. i want to write a slowburn 50k friends to lovers fic of ronin learning how not to be an asshole via hanging out with dareth complete with ronin still being a criminal, dareth getting wrapped up in that stuff and a big cheesy gooey marriage at the end of it- WITH all the ninja invited.

Unpopular opinion - DARETH ISNT MISOGYNISTIC FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING!!!!! ITS A PRODUCT OF HIS WRITING AND I HATE TO BRING THIS UP BC IT SEEMS SO DUMB TO SAY BUT LIKE. IF HE THINKS MAKEUP IS JUST FOR GIRLS WHY DOES HE DO MAKEUP!! its literally just bad writing im sorry. he deserves more.

Favorite relationship - ummmm. (twirls hair) romantically ? ronin and dareth. i will go to my grave defending this ship and i will continue defending it from beyond that. i really really love working with their dynamics and thinking about ronin having a soft spot for this strange man who runs a karaoke bar.

Favorite headcanon - THIS IS MYYYYYY HEADCANON. im so smart and sososososo sexy for thinking this up but dareth is a bisexual transgender man. (ftm) and also he is jewish. i hope this helps.

Seabound Nya Headcanons

I tried tagging this with as many tags to avoid spoilers. If you haven’t watched season 15 yet, you might want to keep scrolling. 

Ok, looking at a majority of the Ninjago posts I've seen here on Tumblr since Friday, we're all depressed by Seabound’s ending (me included).

Let’s have some fun Water Nya headcanons where sure, she's still a living embodiment of the sea, but she still retains her personality and stays with the ninja.

- When she gets sleepy her form loses shape and she winds up as a giant puddle on the floor. There's been a few times where the others have accidentally slipped and fell on her.

- Then there was the one time she woke up in a bucket because someone (probably Zane) mopped her up.

- They got a nice sized aquarium in place of her bed now.

- She accompanied the rest on a mission once to an area with a colder climate. She didn't freeze completely but she more or less became a walking talking snowman. Once the mission was complete, they had their hijinks. Ever hugged a snowman before? Jay even gave her his scarf just for laughs.

- One time a bad guy thought he won a fight by smashing her to smithereens, only for her bits to reform into over a dozen angry mini Nyas and swarmed him like ants.

- Get her mad enough and she will literally start steaming and boiling.

- A dragon isn’t the only shape she can morph into. She’s changed her shape to look like the others. Usually Kai’s when he annoys her and mimics him in an insulting manner. “Oh, look at me! I’m Kai. Special talents is bad anime hair and being an annoying jerk!” 

- To get a chuckle out of the boys, sometimes she’ll dive into the ocean and come back with a fish swimming around inside her.

- She gets nervous around drains. She may have fallen down one or two a few times by accident.

- She loves taking Jay on rides in her dragon form.

- This one is more on the serious note - now she can join Zane and Pixal (and possibly Lloyd) in the "I'm Going To Out Live My Loved Ones" Club
