(upper art by Zerovirus)
A long time ago, a giant fox devil-king menaced Town with evil magic and copious lightning, searing sand to glass beneath their terrible footfalls. It was great! It was a great time.
Then some asshole exorcist got all judgy and decided menacing people with lightning was bad, and drained all their power and sealed them into a harmless, approachable, and (gag, retch) pretty Tenko form. Bound by a magic ofuda collar to not do supervillain things, their former line of work became next to impossible. They were forced to take a job at a local haunted tourist trap in order to get by, and now bide their time as a sideshow attraction (come see the legendary Fox Devil, for just $4.99!)- awaiting their opportunity to ditch this stupid waifu form and get back to terrorizing people.
Happy birthday, @eternalfarnham! Your OC is fantastic.

I’m trying to incorporate like actual things about the yokai Nurarihyon into Zazel’s characterization and his backstory but I’m by no means an expert on yokai things so if I fuck up please forgive me.

okay so what we’re not going to do is villainize shoko.
jjk 261 spoilers, thoughts, and a brief analysis of shoko. (and touching on some sashisu stuff. more specifically the sash part.)
i see a lot of people bashing her for not having a reaction to the body swapping plan and that satoru was like ‘i’m mostly surprised shoko didn’t object SO. here’s what i’ve got to say.
shoko didn’t object because she was fully under the belief that satoru was going to win. that it wasn’t going to happen. it was literally the worst worst worst WORST case scenario. she had SO MUCH faith in satoru.
let’s rewind back to the shibuya arc. what we knew about shoko at that time regarding her use of cigarettes was that she had quit five years (iirc) prior to those events. her smoking habits literally revolve around satoru’s wellbeing.
Tumblr media
mind you this was after she and yaga learned satoru had been sealed. she heard the news and immediately began smoking. why? because shoko is a person who masks her emotions and she does it well. she’s not the type of woman to break down in tears. she’s going to hide it and instead light up a cigarette.
we saw this with her interaction with suguru. she acted very nonchalant about his defection and the massacre he committed on the village and his parents. but when we fast forward ten years and go to jjk0, it’s made abundantly clear that she still cares about him. during the meeting where yaga declares they’re going to kill suguru — i’m pretty sure his words were ‘exorcise the curse that is geto suguru’ or something along those lines — shoko leaves. she flat out walks out. and during the night parade of 100 demons, we have a moment where see the most emotion out of shoko that we have for the majority of the series. she’s angry. she’s hurt. she has these thoughts of something along the lines of like ‘you sure made a mess for us’ regarding suguru. and it’s especially prominent because it’s the first time we’ve ever seen her like this and only time. the closest we get to seeing that again is during the sukuna fight.
she literally cares so much but she’s just emotionally constipated and doesn’t know how to show it 😭 it’s an issue both she and satoru have. they deflect. they mask. they move on and yet the carry it with them somewhere deep inside them.
so we go back forward to satoru and sukuna’s fight. where we do see emotion from shoko but what’s most important to note is the panels she’s in. when they focus on her, she’s either smoking a cigarette, lighting a cigarette up, or we see her surrounded by cigarette butts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we see her genuinely fearful at this point. she had full confidence that satoru was going to win. that’s why she said ‘do what you want’ and didn’t object. because in her mind, it wouldn’t happen.
it’s very important to remember that sashisu, whether you see it in a romantic or platonic way, was a group that cared so fucking deeply for one another. their bonds were deep. their love for their found family was deep. it’s part of the reason why suguru defected in the end. which i can get it into but not at this time. but at the end of the day, sashisu had ass communication skills and failed to properly understand one another.
and that seems to continue on with the satoshoko side of that, which was left after suguru left. and after he died.
also, it’s really important to remember that shoko is not like satoru and suguru. she’s a healer. that’s it. that’s all she does. she doesn’t get to fight or be on the front lines like they do. she’s the one who gets to wait behind and wait until the damage is done to do her job. she’s been doing this since she was (probably) 15, maybe even younger since we don’t know her backstory. she’s going to be emotionally detached. also, keep in mind this page:
Tumblr media
specifically her first piece of dialogue. ‘it’s more like we have to do it.’
and that’s the bottom line.
whew. this was rough. shoko ieiri you will always be loved by me.

I almost never post TGCF on this blog, but this concept has been plaguing my mind for a solid week, so here goes.
Consider an AU where, for various reasons, Bai Wuxiang never really notices Xie Lian. Xie Lian finds little Hong-hong'er long before the Shangyuan Festival where they met in canon, which means Xie Lian never stops to save a falling child during the parade (though baby Hua Cheng was already smitten by then). Xie Lian never ascends, since the demon of Yi Nian bridge never appears at the bridge after the festival; and the Xian Le-Yong'an civil war still takes place, but ends in Xian Le's favor within a few years.
Eighteen months into the war, Feng Xin disappears during a raid.
Xie Lian and the rest of his men search for him for months; but eventually, they're forced to report him as missing, assumed dead. At some point, Xie Lian returns to the palace and is sought out by Jian Lan, who was in a secret relationship with Feng Xin before he went to war—and who now has no one to legitimize their unborn child, although Feng Xin knew that she was pregnant and was planning to marry her during his next leave.
As the king's sole child, Xie Lian is under immense pressure to marry and father an heir to succeed him in case he dies in battle. In addition, he blames himself for Feng Xin's apparent death; and when Jian Lan comes to him for help, Xie Lian offers to marry her and accept her child as his own for Feng Xin's sake. This way, Xie Lian gets to maintain his cultivation path, and Jian Lan and her baby become members of Xian Le's royal family.
The war ends six months after the baby's birth: and eventually, Feng Xin returns alive from Yong'an, having been imprisoned there for over a year. When he gets back to the capital, he learns about Jian Lan's marriage to Xie Lian and is understandably distraught; but he makes peace with the situation relatively quickly, because 1) he knows that Jian Lan's life would have been ruined if someone hadn't stepped in to marry her and 2) Xie Lian has given him and Jian Lan his blessing to continue their relationship in secret.
His only stipulation is that they keep the relationship secret, because any speculation about the new Crown Princess's fidelity could call her child's legitimacy into question. And while Xie Lian would never object to an amicable divorce and co-parenting situation so that Jian Lan could marry Feng Xin, a divorce would be detrimental to all three families involved and damage the new baby prince's future prospects.
It's surprisingly easy for the three of them to work out an arrangement, since Feng Xin is expected to spend most of his time close to Xie Lian (and by extension, to Jian Lan as well). Fenglan get to be together, baby Xie Yan grows up being doted on by his mom and two dads, and Xie Lian is blissfully free of any obligations to continue the family line now that he has successfully "fathered" a son.
This goes on without a hitch for over ten years, until one of Feng Xin's old war injuries acts up and forces him into retirement. He still spends 100% of his time with the royal family, but he no longer accompanies Xie Lian when the latter is away from Jian Lan and Xie Yan.
Enter young army general Hua Cheng, who won the right to serve as the Crown Prince's bodyguard after a very intense trial by combat.
And so begins a long year of Hua Cheng absolutely losing it because of how badly he wants to be with Xie Lian. He knows that Xie Lian would never betray his wife, and has no intentions of breaking up his beloved's family: but he manages to keep it together until the day Xie Lian and Jian Lan announce that they're expecting their second child, because he catches the "unfaithful" Crown Princess kissing Feng Xin in a deserted hallway right after the congratulatory banquet.
Xie Lian was just trying to have a nice night in with Xie Yan when a sobbing Hua Cheng dragged Feng Xin into his room and started begging him (Xie Lian) not to give in to despair at his wife's and best friend's betrayal. Hua Cheng does get a complete explanation about The Arrangement, but he's very distressed about not being able to beat Feng Xin up to his heart's content.
(He and Xie Lian get together a few months later, after which Hua Cheng surrenders the title of Most Heartbroken Man Alive and becomes the Smuggest Man Alive.)

Catch up
Yuta Okkotsu x Fem reader.
Warnings: Older reader implied, only slighter older by a few years. Pining, mutual pining, fluff, bittersweet romance.
Banner by @cafekitsune
Tumblr media
Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, a bastion of arcane knowledge for the next generation of sorcerers. It serves not only as a training ground but also as a headquarters for all who have graduated. The air was always thick with the scent of incense as students roamed the hallowed halls in their distinctive uniforms, their conversations, a symphony of ambition, and camaraderie. Yuta, however, often found himself lost in thought, his gaze lingering often on you as you walked by, your hips swaying gently with each step you took. Your eyes would occasionally flicker in his direction, sending a shiver down his spine. Did you know? Did you notice his furtive glances all these years? You were an intelligent woman, you must know.
The rumour mill had recently churned with whispers that you would soon be leaving Japan for an overseas assignment, a rare opportunity for any young sorcerer. The prospect of your departure weighed heavily on Yuta's heart. Having recently returned from Africa, he was hopeful to spend some time alongside you. Just a few short weeks before you had to leave, however, it seemed cruelly short.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the grounds were bathed in a warm orange glow, Yuta gathered the courage to approach you. His heart thudded in his chest as he stepped into the quiet library where you could often be found with a cup of tea whenever you were visiting the establishment. The scent of old tomes and parchment filled the air, creating a cosy atmosphere. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come.
"Senpai," he began, his voice barely above a whisper.
You looked up from your book. You had felt his presence before he had even spoken, the air around the two of you crackling with the tension of unspoken words. You set the tome aside, your delicate fingers brushing against the leather cover. "Okkotsu-kun," you reply politely, your voice like a melody that could soothe the fiercest of spirits. "You're back from Africa," you say, smiling softly at him. "How was your trip?" You gaze softly over his features. He was taller and definitely stronger. His new haircut framed his delicate, handsome features.
Yuta's cheeks flushed a deep shade of red, feeling your eyes on him, and he fidgeted with the hem of his shirt. "It was... enlightening," he managed to say, his mind racing for the right words. He had dreamed of this moment, but now that it was here, he found himself at a loss for what to say. "I heard you'll be leaving soon," he added, trying to keep his voice steady.
Your smile faltered slightly, a hint of sadness creeping into your eyes. "Yes, I've been offered a position abroad," you reply. "It's an opportunity I can't pass up. But I'll miss everyone here."
"I... I just wanted to thank you," he stuttered, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape route. "For everything you've taught me. I wouldn't be where I am without your guidance."
Gojo had asked you to help Yuta upon his admission to the school as a special grade sorcerer almost two years ago now. You weren't keen on having to babysit, and you weren't what anyone would consider a natural at teaching. Keeping yourself to yourself and working alone was more your style. Which was precisely why the man had asked you to spend some time with Yuta. You were a kind woman but also fiercely strong, funny, and understanding. However, you surprisingly found yourself enjoying the time you spent working on missions together. There were a couple of years between the two of you, and you weren't surprised when you sensed his schoolboy crush during your later interactions following The Night Parade of 100 Demons. You'd be lying if you didn't think he was adorable back then and had grown during his time away, you had thought about your newfound feelings towards him in more recent weeks, acknowledging his strength as a sorcerer and what a good man he continues to grow into. But you didn't want to serve as anymore of a distraction for him, and the fact still stood that you would be leaving soon.
You tilted your head, a small smile playing on your lips. "You're welcome, Yuta," you replied warmly. "Your progress was quite remarkable." Your eyes searched his, and for a moment, he thought he saw something flicker in their depths—was it understanding?
The silence stretched between the two of you, thick with unspoken feelings. Yuta's palms grew clammy, and he clenched them into fists at his sides. He had rehearsed this moment a thousand times in his head, but now that he was here, the words felt clumsy and inadequate. He took a step closer, his eyes never leaving yours. "There's something else I need to tell you," he murmured.
You leaned back in your chair, arms folded under your chest. "Go on," you encouraged, your voice a soft caress that seemed to echo in the quiet library.
Yuta took another step closer, his heart pounding like a drum in his ears. He could feel the warmth of your presence, the energy that surrounded you like a comforting blanket. "Senpai," he said, his voice steadying. "I... I have feelings for you. I know it's not proper, and I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable, but I can't keep it to myself anymore. I wanted to be honest with you.... before you leave."
Your smile never wavered, but your eyes searched his, looking for the sincerity behind his words. "Feelings, huh?" You mused, your voice a gentle breeze. "That's quite the confession, Okkotsu-kun."
Yuta nodded, his throat tight with emotion. He had hoped for a positive reaction, but he was prepared for rejection. "I know it's sudden," he said, his voice low. "But I've had these feelings for a long time."
You studied him for a moment, your gaze unreadable. Then, you stood up, closing the gap between the two of you. Your hand reached out and touched his cheek, your skin warm against his. "You're a good man, Yuta," you said, your voice tender. "And a powerful sorcerer. But you're also very young."
Yuta's heart skipped a beat, and he leaned into your touch. "I know," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "But I can't help how I feel."
Your eyes searched his, your thumb gently brushing against his cheekbone. "I appreciate your honesty," you murmur. "But we are in a delicate position. We are both sorcerers, with duties and responsibilities that extend beyond our personal lives."
Yuta nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. "I understand," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "But I had to tell you. I couldn't keep it bottled up anymore."
Your hand lingered on his cheek, your thumb tracing a small circle. "I appreciate your honesty," you said softly. "It's not every day someone confesses to me like this. I have to say, I'm flattered."
Yuta felt a spark of hope. "Does that mean that you're not completely rejecting me?"
You chuckled lightly, your eyes never leaving his. "It means that I'll think about it," you reply, your voice a gentle caress. "We are sorcerers. Our lives are fraught with danger and responsibility. Love is a precious thing, but it can also be a distraction. You know better than anyone how dangerous it can be."
Yuta's heart sank, but he understood. He knew you were right, but he couldn't help the wave of disappointment that washed over him. "I understand," he murmured, trying to hide his feelings.
You searched his eyes, your gaze piercing. "But I don't want you to think I don't care," you state. "I do. More than you know."
Yuta felt his hope rekindle. "Do you mean..." he trailed off, unable to form the question, his face reddening.
You leaned in closer, your breath a gentle caress on his cheek. "It means," you whispered, "it's a small world of sorcerers, and that I'll be waiting for you to catch up."

did a redraw of an old piece from an au!
( below is the original. its in bad condition because its sorta been all over the place in the past few years )
Tumblr media
but yeah ive been calling it Transcendental Anomalies in my notes so far.
The premise is that Dipper has been having strange dreams after his 19th birthday. Dreams where he finds himself exploring a weird world filled with bizarre rules and horrifying creatures. Oddly enough, he isn't all that scared by the world and takes to figuring out its secrets and enjoying the new experience.
It's constantly raining. Filled with dilapidated buildings. Stairways that crumble and shift under your feet. A 100 step pathway that leads to another dimension. Parts of the world that crumble into the void and are consumed by static. A ballroom dance with shadows.
Tumblr media
An upside down clock tower above the void. Endless staircases into the sky and void alike.
Tumblr media
Streets crawling with shadows. Black hair leaking out of crevices. Eyes that watch you from holes.
Tumblr media
A bus that travels around, taking you god knows where. Tall buildings with elevators. A giant neon red cross always further in the distance. A heavy fog over collapsing buildings. Black torii gates leading to a dark forest. A woman carrying an umbrella whose gaze you must never meet. A parade of tall and lanky men and women twirling down the streets. Gigantic beasts that rise from the void. A library with no top or bottom extending endlessly where bodies fall from the top floors. Festivals of shadows where human flesh and other such things are sold. Red paper lanterns float down the festival lanes and hang from special buildings. A starless night sky that hangs over the world like a black void.
These are only a few of the sights Dipper sees there.
No humans are seen in the world because they are very quickly eaten by the creatures within or they're in hiding. Ghosts and spirits roam the streets. The smart people who visit make sure they dont stay long. The ones who survive dont stay long enough to get found.
At one point, Dipper tries dancing with the blind dancers. This is where we meet our second protagonist, Bill.
Bill decides to come visit the Middle Ground for a while for a vacation from being a menace. While there, he goes to the ballroom to have a hoot and starts talking with one of the blindfolded creatures (in human form since its not the easiest to work around his own triangular anatomy for square dancing).
They swap names and chat as they dance, Bill looking down on the dumb monster as a lower lifeform. Still, he gets curious about what the thing looks like under the blindfold and pulls it up. As one has already guessed, the dance partner was Dipper.
Bill is surprised to find his partner wasn't actually one of the creatures, but puts 2 and 2 together when he sees the birthmark. Unfortunately, he's not great at metaphorical math and just assumes its another demon on vacation. Thinks the guy is pretty dumb for following the rules of this world, but shrugs it off.
They meet several more times in the middle ground, exploring the more dangerous facets of it, until Dipper moves to gravity falls with his sister to take care of his great uncle, and finds he can no longer leave.
as you can probably tell, this au has a LOT and i mean a LOT of inspiration from internet urban legends. if you see something you think is a reference, it most definitely is. i have...... so many gravity falls aus. im still a bit stuck in 2014 gf fandom tumblr. if things dont hold up with the book of bill canon forgive me (I haven't read it yet sadly...) but yeah its a bit trope heavy but i love urban legends and horror stories so i wanted to make a world where all of them can fit together nicely. thats how this came about.

l.g.i.t.s. timeline explained
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey guys! someone commented on my recent AO3 update asking for a timeline and i realized i have this whole big story planned out in my head, but haven't clarified how i've altered the canon timeline to make it happen >.< allow me to explain!
(note: this is NOT necessary to read before the story unless you're a stickler about canon-- but, if that's the case, why read fanfiction? weirdo)
anyway, i definitely had to play w the canon timeline a little bit to fit us into the story in a way that has the most impact. i wanted certain noncanon events in my story to coincide w/ events and plotpoints in the canon and the only way to really do that is to study the OG timeline and move some stuff around. no major changes have been made... i think. (^▽^)👍
Tumblr media
╰┈➤8/2006: Star Plasma Vessel incident occurs. Gojo becomes enlightened.

╰┈➤6/2018: Yuji swallows Sukuna's finger, becoming his vessel. His execution is ordered, but Satoru Gojo manages to have it postponed.
╰┈➤7/2018: Yuji dies when Sukuna rips out his heart following the Eishu Detention Center mission. He is revived the following day, in the presence of Gojo and Shoko. Satoru starts to realize that this may be more than he can handle on his own. see Chapter One :)
.
.
The rest of the story follows the canon timeline, as far as season one of the anime goes.
(If you're on the taglist for this story, don't worry! You didn't miss an update! I just want us all to be on the same page as we embark on this journey together. I promise I'm only halfway making it up as I go, teehee.)

Gojo Satoru had a complex over not having been able to stop Geto Suguru.
Stop him from what, exactly?
Killing humans? Not really. I’ve talked about it numerous times. Gojo didn’t have an issue over the lives of humans/others back then. He barely acknowledged the issue with it when they met in front of the KFC.
Conducting the Night Parade of 100 Demons? He could’ve pursued them. Seriously. Takeshita street crepe shop? Did he really not know where Geto was? Where his “hideout” was in broad daylight which Geto took over and has been seeing humans for exorcisms? Yeah. No.
Leaving him. Ahem. Being unable to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Because he cannot save Geto, killing him isn’t the answer either. So he chose to let him live and let them be the strongest together, but apart. To share the dream of reformation, done separately. Also, direct reference to chapter 261. And chapter 236 with Gojo wishing Geto was there.
Gojo Satoru had a complex over being unable to stop Geto Suguru from leaving him.
It is as simple as that. But it lands so much harder when it is spelled out like that. Is it just me?
It seriously is the only answer.
It makes so much sense that his whole character book has Geto Suguru all over it. So much so that I came across so many Japanese tweets joking about the number of times he was referenced, that it’s a Geto Suguru book, his face placement on the character relationship chart was like that of a wife’s, etc.
It was really amusing.
I take for granted my understanding of the word “complex” and saw others trying to analyse the meaning as well. I stopped for a moment to reset my perspective from a psychological background, and rethink from what could be a “wasei-eigo” perspective. But it seems like the interpretation is similar.
Either way, his complex over “stopping” Geto Suguru is no less than, put very simply, a Geto Suguru complex.
That man just loved Geto a lot and I don’t think it dilutes his character to say that he was heavily influenced by Geto, but rather we see the depth and capacity of his love to grow through the loss and love of someone.
People change you. It’s not abnormal. If could be a lover, a parent, a family member, a pet, a child, a manager... again, it’s not abnormal.
Gojo chose to live like that because it comforted him and gave him a purpose beyond his own strength. Seeing Geto Suguru in himself, in people around him, etc. was a form of him understanding and applying humanity - allowing him to get along with others and be less lonely.
He took it and made it his own. Of course he had some personal agency. He became a teacher using that agency. Gege jokes he has no personality - but let’s just say every person is assigned 100 points to channel into things in life. Gojo just uses all 100 points he’s been given in two things - jujutsu and Geto Suguru. His students loosely fall in between the two categories. Other people might use their points differently based on what they’re born out ofc. But let’s not forget that Gojo was primed to be clan head and most powerful from birth.
Who can blame him? His agency was limited because he never had freedom in the first place. His capacity for freedom could have devastating consequences... eveyrone was lucky that Gojo was who he was and not a sociopath.

I’m still so in love with the idea of Tsubaki’s summer property having an area his subclass affectionately refer to as “the parade route,” in reference to the Night Parade of 100 Demons
It just suits him so well, don’t you think? An old, probably stigmatized, mansion on the very outskirts of the Tokyo area. Lanterns strung to light the way in a dark, overgrown part of the gardens. Shadows twisting strangely, eerily, and even the eldest of them scurry a little faster, some in groups, giggling nervously and if they hold still enough, they swear they can hear whispers in the rustling leaves
It’s all just ghost stories, after all. Just a fun thing to scare themselves silly with. There’s no danger. Just their own imaginations, fueled by folklore, playing tricks on them
Or is it?
After all, if vampires and werewolves exist… Who knows what else is out there, lurking on the edge of human awareness?
Best to bring a friend
