Gojo Satoru had a complex over not having been able to stop Geto Suguru.
Stop him from what, exactly?
Killing humans? Not really. I’ve talked about it numerous times. Gojo didn’t have an issue over the lives of humans/others back then. He barely acknowledged the issue with it when they met in front of the KFC.
Conducting the Night Parade of 100 Demons? He could’ve pursued them. Seriously. Takeshita street crepe shop? Did he really not know where Geto was? Where his “hideout” was in broad daylight which Geto took over and has been seeing humans for exorcisms? Yeah. No.
Leaving him. Ahem. Being unable to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Because he cannot save Geto, killing him isn’t the answer either. So he chose to let him live and let them be the strongest together, but apart. To share the dream of reformation, done separately. Also, direct reference to chapter 261. And chapter 236 with Gojo wishing Geto was there.
Gojo Satoru had a complex over being unable to stop Geto Suguru from leaving him.
It is as simple as that. But it lands so much harder when it is spelled out like that. Is it just me?
It seriously is the only answer.
It makes so much sense that his whole character book has Geto Suguru all over it. So much so that I came across so many Japanese tweets joking about the number of times he was referenced, that it’s a Geto Suguru book, his face placement on the character relationship chart was like that of a wife’s, etc.
It was really amusing.
I take for granted my understanding of the word “complex” and saw others trying to analyse the meaning as well. I stopped for a moment to reset my perspective from a psychological background, and rethink from what could be a “wasei-eigo” perspective. But it seems like the interpretation is similar.
Either way, his complex over “stopping” Geto Suguru is no less than, put very simply, a Geto Suguru complex.
That man just loved Geto a lot and I don’t think it dilutes his character to say that he was heavily influenced by Geto, but rather we see the depth and capacity of his love to grow through the loss and love of someone.
People change you. It’s not abnormal. If could be a lover, a parent, a family member, a pet, a child, a manager... again, it’s not abnormal.
Gojo chose to live like that because it comforted him and gave him a purpose beyond his own strength. Seeing Geto Suguru in himself, in people around him, etc. was a form of him understanding and applying humanity - allowing him to get along with others and be less lonely.
He took it and made it his own. Of course he had some personal agency. He became a teacher using that agency. Gege jokes he has no personality - but let’s just say every person is assigned 100 points to channel into things in life. Gojo just uses all 100 points he’s been given in two things - jujutsu and Geto Suguru. His students loosely fall in between the two categories. Other people might use their points differently based on what they’re born out ofc. But let’s not forget that Gojo was primed to be clan head and most powerful from birth.
Who can blame him? His agency was limited because he never had freedom in the first place. His capacity for freedom could have devastating consequences... eveyrone was lucky that Gojo was who he was and not a sociopath.

Hi Tawus! Some new information about Gojo's lifestyle and childhood has been revealed by Gege in the Gojo Satoru Booklet, and the translations of all that have been circulating online. Do you have any hcs about Infidelity Gojo based on this newly available information?
Honestly thank you for bringing news like this to my attention! ❤️ I'm living under a rock, literally. Wouldn't have heard anything of it if not for your asks. Some headcanons based on my favourite answers by Gege:
Tumblr media
Gege admirably admitted that he made all his characters right-handed for the sake of his own accuracy, but Gojo is left-handed, let’s be real. He’s giving left-handed so hard. Yuuta is a leftie also. Megumi is right-handed tho. (I’m right-handed also).
Tumblr media
Gojo famously loves sweets bc he needs those calories. He burns tons of them, so he eats very loaded meals and remains lean. It’s something his partner has to adapt to when going out with him.
Tumblr media
Gojo does like dogs more and he’d be a great dog owner. But he radically refuses to get one because he knows logically that his dog will die before him. That means mourning yet another death of a loved one. Gojo is smarter than that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loved these two answers so much. What makes Gojo so special is indeed his personality. Genetically he’s been provided by everything - what makes or breaks him is his innate character.
Tumblr media
Gojo got that Duolingo Super subscription. Has tons of followers and follows no one. Got about all of the language courses available on his profile, except for maybe Klingon and High Valyrian, and blowing up the XP counts on them all… He’s a freak.
Tumblr media
I can see this being the case. He may like the feeling of being drunk but it messes with his techniques - both his cursed techniques and his RCT. So at some point he must’ve had to make a choice and he did: his techniques needed to be honed at all times and not dulled by alcohol.
But at the same time, goes to show the lengths he went to for his wife, since he drank alcohol each time he met her as Toru, despite it dulling his senses…
Tumblr media
He does have a drivers licence but he simply hasn’t renewed it, due to the lack of the need to drive, as Gege says. His licence randomly includes a permit to drive a tractor also...

Planned Stories for REALIGNED
Note:
So, I had a pretty interesting question pertaining to REARRANGED's sister series REALIGNED. I was asked if I could separate out the book into individual short stories instead of having them all collected under one name. If they were separate, I could tag each individually to make them easier to search for; they could be individually bookmarked for reader convenience; I could gift people stories that they've requested. With all of this in mind, I've split up the short stories into their own little booklets.
REALIGNED is now its own series, though both it and REARRANGED are in the same Collection.
Here are the current published and planned short stories for REALIGNED:
Cat-Tastrophe (Here)

Contrite (Here)

Crimson (Here)
Summary: Sometimes, blood is the strongest of ties. When Reader-chan trades away her life for something precious, she fully expects the prince of vampires, Gojo Satoru, to kill her or drain her blood. Instead, he has her cook for him and his temperamental boyfriend. And wash their sheets. And schedule their meetings. Weird, but it sure beats dying. A Vampire Knight Fusion AU. Oh! Heatwave day 6 is one of my favorites too along with day 4! I read it again recently after reading the official Satoru Gojo booklet because I wanted to read something with a reader older than Gojo. Regarding stsg, I like the ship but their friendship seems more meaningful to me.
right??? i have ALWAYS seen gojo as an older woman liker. since the very beginning. the gojo/utahime shippers were on to something, let me tell you.
but yeah, stsg is such a popular ship that people also love to bend over backwards to make EVERYTHING gojo does about geto. i like the ship! but it's so reductive to gojo's character to take all his goals and motives and link it all back to geto.
like, sure, the stuff with geto motivated gojo to be a teacher. but gojo outright admits that he feels like he can't connect to other people, and that he wants to nurture strong and clever allies so that "no one will ever have to be alone again".
that's not about geto. that's about gojo experiencing the human condition. geto was a part of his experience for sure, but this is gojo, as a person, deciding that this is what he wants to do with his life.
i've seen gojo get actually upset at two points in the story so far.
first, when suguru defects, and they talk in front of the kfc.
second? after yuji dies, when gojo is talking to ichiji in the morgue.
gojo is LEGIT fucking MAD. his student is dead and he goes on an angry rant about the higher ups and very seriously contemplates murdering all of them.
that's not about geto. that's gojo showing his colors as a person. gojo as a teacher, caring about his student, getting angry because he cares so much.
i do think geto burned gojo in terms of friendship, but gojo opened up a new way to connect to others by becoming a teacher. gege says in the interview that what makes gojo happy is meeting new, talented sorcerers.
so yeah. the friendship was an important part of his life, defined him in many ways, but gojo's got a lot more going on to his character than just geto and it's a shame we don't see more of that.
