i think my most non-important mdzs conspiracy theory is that nie huisang could've done the whole plot against jin guangyou, could've avenged his brother's murder, could've become chief cultivator fron exposing jin guangyou all WITHOUT bringing wei ying back to life through mo xaunyu. i truly think that bring wei ying back to life though mo xaunyu was just nie huisang really really wanting to play matchmaker after seeing lan zhan pine after this fucking dead idiot for over a decade. he knew since the cloud recess study arc that lan xhan had a 💫phat💫 crush on our sweet oblivious wei ying and has been trying to get them together the entire time but simply didn't have the means to do so until he became clan leader nie. this is his fun little side quest and he is having a great time with his results.

Everyone thinks "Huaisang must be with him," as if Huaisang isn't, in fact, standing right next to them and filming the entire scene to send to Lan Xichen later. Of course, Nie Mingjue is fucking vibing to the music, sunglasses and everything, greeting them as gruffly as usual before "Barbie Girl" comes on and he makes everyone in the car (except Wei Wuxian, who drives much more recklessly on the regular) fear for their lives with how he's driving. Also wangxian flirting studying in the living room of the Lan house (at Lan Qiren's insistence because jesus christ you cannot leave them alone together), when Lan Xichen comes in from a run, still listening to music. Wei Wuxian can't help but ask what he's listening to, and Lan Xichen offers his headphones with a bright smile. Even Lan Wangji can't hold back the tiny smile on his face when Wei Wuxian visibly startles as the screaming starts just slamming into his poor eardrums because of course he listens to it full volume.
