Out of all of the characters who were flanderized in Spongebob Sandy's flanderization was probably the weirdest. Not the worst just the weirdest.

In the first 3 seasons she was an athletic tomboy that was a bit reckless but could still be the voice of reason.

After that she's defined mainly as being a scientist even though in the first 3 seasons the only scientific things she did was have a suit and dome that allowed her to live underwater and built a spaceship once.

I understand from a writing stand point that having a scientist character whose not a villain like Plankton helped with episode plots but it's still jarring.

Genuine question: wtf was wrong with the nickelodeon moms in particular back in the day? How is it that multiple moms who encouraged their kids to go on nick actively left/put their kids in harm's way, sometimes knowingly and other times not. Not trying to tell people how to be parents here, but you'd think a mom who wants to protect her young kids would call the police on the guy who just emailed her kid a dick pic. Your kid trusts you to help them, that's why they would tell you how upset that email made them, and they'd expect you to do your job as a parent and protect them.

Not to mention how drake's mom kept the grown man who was preying on her young son in very close proximity to him despite her own husband telling her not to do that bc he could see that what this dialog coach was doing was really weird. And she did it just because she sometimes didn't feel like driving him places and trusted this random ass grown man in the entertainment industry to look out for her child for her
