Let’s talk CHAKRAS📿 Red represents the ROOT CHAKRA📿 ELEMENT – Earth Physical identity: Oriented to self-preservation STONE: Red Jasper The Root Chakra is stable and grounding. Red symbolizes energy, action, confidence, courage, and change. Red brings passion and strength to your relationships, your life and your work. RED SPIRITUALLY EFFECTS: stability, security, grounding, courage, action, physical and emotional survival. RED PHYSICALLY EFFECTS: the adrenal glands, kidneys, spinal column, back, hips, legs and feet. If your immune system is slow-moving, red will give it a kick-start. Red increases fertility in both men and women. Not surprisingly, red helps menstrual problems, blood and the circulation, stop bleeding, heals rashes and wounds. The 1st Chakra is known as the Root or Base Chakra which exhibits the qualities of physical energy and vitality. If you haven’t guessed it by now, I do believe art heals the soul. I also believe we are capable of manifestation. And during my insomnia last night, I decided I was going to create a healing chakra series. Full Moon Kinda Weekend! I don’t know about you guys but I’m feeling all the effects of this full moon! And it’s really a thing with me lol. Believe it if you want to. I used to laugh at people that claimed to feel things with moon cycles until I got sick. My best friend @mama_bear_les and I started comparing notes a few years ago. We both struggle with chronic pain and her living a few states away, the only thing we had in common at the moment was the pain and the moon. Being in the medical field for 20+ years influenced me to view this stuff as hocus pocus voodoo magic. But when faced with it personally, I cannot turn a blind eye. Not only does my pain get worse but I feel different. And so do millions of others! So what do I do now? I make the best of it! Use the moon to manifest your goals. Break out your crystals and claim what the universe has for you. Take your mind off how it makes you feel and manifest feelings of abundance and prosperity, joy and laughter. What do I do if someone I know is struggling with mental illness? Just BE there. It’s fundamental to know you have someone to count on when you’re having a crisis. Disclaimer: I’m solely speaking from my perspective and not speaking for anyone else here. And I will say every situation has been different in the sense that sometimes I’ve felt the need to share and other times I just want to not be alone. And knowing I have someone who loves me for me makes all the difference. Hearing my husband tell me he loves me and that everything is ok or just venting sometimes is all I need. Sometimes I just need to be alone for a while and cry. Like ugly cry lol. And then I feel better. I feel bad that I make people feel helpless. That they can’t help me. And it’s very hard to explain and formulate words. But there’s no need for everyone to feel sorry when all we want for each other is love. I’m hoping to give you some insight into depression. It affects everyone in your circle. But knowing that it’s not your fault is important and can help you make more informed decisions. Wether you or someone you know lives with mental illness, it’s key to inform yourself about these conditions to help manage them. You are not alone. There are many tools and resources to help patients, families, and caregivers. I challenge you to do your due diligence and inform yourself and seek professional help if needed. + h a l y b u r + o n + Robert E. Bush and William D. Halyburton, Jr., both Corpsmen, were awarded the Medal of Honor as a result of their heroic actions while assigned to 2/5. William David Halyburton Jr. (October 2, 1924 – May 10, 1945) was a United States Navy hospital corpsman who was killed in action during World War II while assigned to a Marine Corps rifle company. He was posthumously awarded the nation's highest military decoration for valor, the Medal of Honor, for heroic actions "above and beyond the call of duty" on May 10, 1945, during the Battle of Okinawa. On April 1, 1945, Halyburton landed with the 5th Marines on Okinawa. On May 10, 1945, Halyburton was serving with a Marine rifle company against the Japanese on Okinawa when they suffered numerous casualties after advancing into Awacha Draw. Exposed to enemy fire, he rushed to aid a fallen Marine the furthest away. Shielding the man with his own body while administering aid, Halyburton was mortally wounded. For this action, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Halyburton is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Honolulu, Hawaii. Since 17 June, 1898, the men and women of the Hospital Corps have forged a legacy of valor and selflessness. Hospital Corpsman were once called Apothecaries. Join me in honoring these heroes. Apothecary will honor Hospital Corpsman who were awarded the Medal of Honor during World War II. The black represents the the black sands of Iwo Jima, the blood shed, and our sacrifices. The white represents hope and encouragement and ties together the two worlds of war and reality. The clear waters represent the freedom we fight for. America. As hope flows freely through it. The best thing about teaching these workshops is sharing the ways fluid art has helped me. It’s not necessarily teaching a technique, but giving my community tools to have readily available that actually help with anxiety. For those of you that the world of anxiety and depression might be foreign, it may just be something fun to do. But for the majority of my people, we are in this for healing. I hear countless stories of how fluid art has been the catapult to their growth. How in the depths of an illness, fluid art was the spark of life. The stories I also hear from the majority of my students. How in some way, they’ve found renewal, strength, and PURPOSE. These things don’t just magically happen. I like to consider fluid art another “tool” that helps, just like meditation or deep breathing. And sometimes, while doing this type of art, you find yourself doing all at the same time lol. Last night’s event was incredible and I’m so grateful for the amazing people who support me. It’s women like @mojofotoco @mainstreamvirginiabeach @fringeandfire @wanderfulboxes @grazekitchenvb that bring people together to build stronger communities. And fostering these types of gatherings is what I’m all about. Here are some things I’ve learned from about living in love 💛 Nine years ago today, I married this guy. And I can say that somehow it just works for us💛 We had both been married before and wanted nothing to do with matrimony, but society says otherwise. We had written our marriage certificate on a piece of paper with crayons lol and called it official (and if you ask me, that paper was just as legit as the jp one). And when it came down to a when to do it...well, we both suck at celebrating anything and remembering stuff (thank God he doesn’t get butt hurt about not getting flowers 🤣) so we decided to go with today so we could remember. So one thing that’s helped us has been to not keep tabs on time. I can say perhaps that’s easier said than done and doesn’t work for everyone. But it’s something that started from the beginning with us. With both of us doing combat deployments when we first got together, either he was gone or I was gone but we barely saw each other. We knew what we wanted and we helped each other achieve it. And that’s my second biggest advice. If your partner is not your biggest fan, you gots to go boo. The best thing about our relationship is how we motivate and challenge each other to be a better version of ourselves. And to also be a sounding board. Remember, THIS IS YOUR PERSON, people! If they are not rooting for you they may not be invested. Period. And lastly, but most importantly, trust, honesty and respect which should be at the top but I’m not rewriting this lol. And when I say those words, I wholeheartedly mean and believe them. Regardless of your past pains. This love deserves all your attention and nurturing every single day. Just show up.
