Late 80's Man-Thing painting by comic book artist Kevin Nowlan.
Sean Clarke (CAF) : "Kevin Nowlan began work on a fully painted original Man-Thing graphic novel, written by Steve Gerber in 1987. It then took about 25 years to complete Gerber's sequel to his "Song-Cry of the Living Dead Man" story from Man-Thing #12 (1974)."
A GN later transformed into a limited series and published several years after Steve Gerber's death (2012's Infernal Man-Thing #1-3).

Just finished "Dark Sun CONFRONTS SUN in VRchat" SO
it's late and I need to go to bed for the weekend plans but I HAVE TO WRITE THIS I think D!Sun isn't doing this for OUR SUN I think he's doing things for the CONCEPT of Sun. He just showed Sun all the worlds where Sun dies, mostly because of Moon.
I usually don't believe what villains say, but here's the thing. This is Sun to Sun. D!Sun is one of those villain's who won't share all the things he wants to do. He trickles out just enough to raise more questions but never give anything of importance away.
Neptor, in the last episode I just finished, did implode. He warned Neptor that is what would happen. He didn't lie to Neptor. He hasn't lied about Nexus. He still sees Nexus as a Moon but hasn't lied about any of his actions. Nexus has done all the things D!Sun warned Sun and Moon about.
So I'm taking what he says to Sun as the truth. I think he's telling Sun this information because it's the most opportune time. He told Sun all the things he CAN do. He fully believes Sun can kill his baby dragon WitherStorm.
He told Sun that he is capable.
D!Sun wants Sun to gain his own independence because I think D!Sun sees our Sun as his HOPE.
Dark Sun wants to SAVE all Suns. He wants to save the future ones from dying. Not just from Moon's (that's the main reason though) but also from other things.
We haven't heard of a Sun council, but I think what we're witnessing in the show is the lead up to one being finally formed.
It's canon in the show that Eclipse's tried to work together and ultimately fail.
I don't remember if Moon's were ever stated to try to make councils but it seems most go crazy beyond the point of return far too soon to form one.
Creator is the only person who made a working council and that's due to their own shared delusions. They, however, did not have strength in numbers due to their own shortcomings and egos. They thought they could be uncontested while they 'researched' WitherStorms.
Ruin, a singular amalgam, killed off the entire Creator council in one fell swoop.
ANYWAYS
I think that D!Sun wants to make a council with our Sun, because he's been watching their dimension for a long time. I think he was watching since before Moon even reset and created N!Moon.
I made a silly haha joke about the council of Suns a few weeks ago but now I'm actually seeing character motivation and proof on it.
D!Sun is a villain who's not really done villainous stuff...he's been a schemer and he can't be trusted...but he's not done anything horribly evil yet (besides Neptor, that was so sad, but compared to literally everyone else in the show he did the same thing that Old Moon did to that one Moon robot he built that went rogue in one day. Old Moon blowing that bot up was treated for laughs but what D!Sun did was treated serious, food for thought). He does cherry pick what information he gives but the strange thing is, he hasn't lied. Not once. Early on he flat out told Eclipse and Ruin what he was going to do to them when he put something in their heads. He just didn't tell them what it was. He also grabbed N!Moon and told him he'd scan his head and he did just that, then sent him home. We know he also took a chance to secretly move his dimension and save it during Ruin's revenge scheme. (It's unclear if Ruin's statement that 'Dark Sun killed another Dimension' is valid or not)
I think D!Sun picked N!Moon as the catalyst to making our Sun independent from all Moons.
Nexus is a Moon who started off completely differently from any other Moon. As far as Nexus was aware they were never merged, they never had to fight for dominance. He had the ever present shadow of Old Moon....but that's it.
He got to be a gentle sweet and loving brother to Sun and the rest of his growing family. He wasn't perfect, but with time he would have been a great family member. It was growing to be that way.
I think D!Sun was waiting and hoping Nexus would also go crazy. Like every other Moon he's ever watched. He called him 'a dead one'. We have no privy to how other reset Moons are. The chances are they all are doomed by their own narrative to kill their Sun or just go insane.
While he didn't cause Nexus' to go crazy...he was fully banking on it to happen.
After all, Sun is willing to forgive Old Moon for hurting him over and over because he can excuse it away. "Moon was trapped in my head so it is justifiable why he was mad and lashing out." "Moon had the kill code so it makes sense why he hurt me and flew into blind murderous rage." "I call Moon brother and that means something to me." Sun has always found SOME WAY to justify why he should forgive Old Moon. It's his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.
D!Sun I think wants to show our Sun that forgiveness can run out. There's also the added bonus N!Moon/Nexus promised to never hurt Sun or be like Old Moon.
He broke that promise.
This is also D!Sun's evidence that Moons are going to always be 'evil' or in the wrong.
D!Sun is also studying things that were thought to be impossible. He's taming WitherStorms and learning how to communicate with them. He's figured out how to make multidimensional star energy work. He's done the impossible over and over. He, like our Sun, has the uncanny ability to affect and change fate.
My entire theory is just this, I think D!Sun is trying to rewrite the universal fate of all Sun's and he's starting with ours. The one we know, because he hopes that he can break other Sun's free.
Free from Moons. Free from suffering. Free from death.
He states he just "wants to be left alone." but he's ALWAYS interfering. Even visiting Puppet's original world to go to the grave-site of the Sun and Moon that tore themselves apart.
D!Sun can't sit by because he knows too much. He knows too much on the suffering that occurs to every innocent Sun out there. He's still a Sun. He's just the Sun that loves other Suns.
It explains so much. It explains why he's bothering to do any of this. Explains why he went and killed Lord Eclipse/witness his downfall personally. It explains why he told Puppet to not hesitate with BloodMoon (the entity that's tortured Sun from day 1 with the July incident). It also explains why he's kind to Earth and Lunar, even joking with them while subtly hinting how to catch Goliath. Explains why he kissed Sun on the mo-
I mean....
Anyways that's my late night rambles typed this up 30 mins before bed hope it's coherent. I couldn't sleep unless I wrote this down. That was such a good episode.
I also want to go in to how D!Sun is super wrong and I think Nexus is going to subvert the expectation by snapping out of it but idk about that one. I have to wait and see. I would want nothing more then for D!Sun to be wrong about all Moons.

Me: *is so behind on watching episodes myself it's not even funny, has been keeping up with the story through a combination of looking at titles, thumbnails, people's reactions online and my sister telling me about the important plotpoints*
Also me: So like. Given yesterday's events anyone wanna know about my idea for an au where Nexus does manage to come to his senses after some time working with Dark Sun, wisens up about the fact that he is being manipulated, uno reverses that manipulation as long as he can to get resources, and then sets off on his own, pretty sure there is no going back and nothing wating for him in his old home; setting his sights on a Secret Mission that he believes is pretty much impossible, but he wants to explore what it truly means to "not hold himself back" without the weight of anger, grief and guilt and just working towards something he cares about doing, and slowly becoming a traveler that usually exists in between dimensions instead of within them, with an eventual tense but needed encounter with his old family years down the line?
Because I have. Ideas.

i think big brother is an insane show considering the name is literally a 1984 reference. like they read 1984 and their first thought was "we should do this on purpose, use it for our own monetary gain, and then name our show after the book thats basically about how we should not do this" which like. a lot of companies do that but generally theyre not. so overt about it

I watched the Squid Game reality series so you don't have to.
1. It is just as grim and psychologically intense as the show. I went into it not knowing anything about the set up and expecting the format to have been changed to be less nightmarish; maybe the games would be fun versions, maybe smaller prizes would be available for individuals or teams, or different stages of the game would have different casts. Nope.
2. It isn't funny. It's overly dramatised (it's produced in the style of US reality shows so it really focuses on the worst in people). Something I didn't expect and was absolutely astounded to see is that the contestants have to fake being shot as a black inkpack on their chest explodes when they're eliminated. Some of them have a bit of fun doing an over dramatic fall to the ground. Most just sit down looking completely destroyed which, when you consider the format and the reasons people are there (severely in debt, can't retire, disabled children that need care) it's just absolutely vile.
(Honourable mention to the only funny bit of editing in the show: when the remaining 20 contestants get together in a circle to discuss the next task, the very American team captain gives a motivational pep talk consisting entirely of buzz words, then goes 'let's pray' and it immediately swaps to focus on the remaining Brits who look absolutely horrified (for those outside of the UK most Brits are either non-religious or very quietly religious and find overt showings of religion like group prayer really weird)).
3. Deeply uncomfortable by the editing and voiceover choices that repeatedly portrayed black people, particularly black women, as the 'villains'. It was very very noticeable. There was a particular interaction where a black woman was shown in a very negative light, and I am still unclear on what happened during the show (due to the choppy and unclear editing) and cagey responses from contestants in interviews after. VERY very strange, and has led to that black contestant receiving a lot of hate.
4. The amount of contestants breaking down emotionally through the show makes so much sense not only when you consider the conditions they were being kept in, but the sheer amount of bonus psychological fuckery that was included. Not just the main tasks but additional challenges, individual tasks, and public votes for eliminations. A lot of these happened at random in the dorm rooms meaning they had no true safe space in which to relax. The filming was evidently over at least a week and I can't imagine how emotionally exhausted they must have been. I hope the contestants would have been offered some therapy on leaving but I don't think that's likely.
5. The one shining light in the whole show was how, very differently to the original series, individuals started to work together much earlier and more thoroughly through the tasks. Lots of people offered support and words of kindness to those struggling and appeared to really bond. In the end, while a grim and unsatisfying watch, that was the one thing I took away.
I am perfectly happy to watch some trashy TV from time to time and I don't believe every thing you watch should necessarily be dissected for it's greater meaning. But, not surprisingly when considering the source material, this was so far beyond trashy; it was exploitative and depressing and I can't believe it actually got (excuse the pun) green lit.
TL:DR; the black mirror episode that would be based off of squid game? Yeah that was it.

Did someone ask for content about that weird Murder Mystery AU Crossover I thought of yesterday? No? WELL TOO BAD
Tw- mention of death and descriptions of such, but not to an extremely gruesome extent, these guys are brainstorming execution ideas is all, so no one really dies
The Ruin hummed idly as it finished writing.
It was planning day today in the server and they all had taken to planning their executions, better to be prepared for whatever ended up happening in the game after all!
For its part it had written a rather brilliant sequence, resembling a play in both physical execution and written format. The themes and allegories to its own past clear as the bottom of a translucent river, there if looked for but not the center piece. Oh no, that was reserved for the main attraction, the Ruin and its death. A tragedy played to an audience of booing creatures, none of its efforts to please the audience working until the very end when a stage light falls on its head.
It was a marvelous piece of writing dare it confess.
They nodded to themselves, wonderful indeed.
…
The Ruin looked up at their table mates, catching sight of the bullet list and doodle page both of its friends had been working on.
It cleared its throat, waiting until both bots were looking at it before speaking, “May I ask what you two’s executions look like?”
Solar and Nexus exchanged glances, a silent conversation in expressions and postures before the latter brightened up and turned to it.
“Why the most horrifying thing ever of course!” Nexus lifted up their paper, the crude doodles visible to both of the other bots.
“I’ll be dragged off to a lab where my task will be to make inventions that appear on a giant screen, starting off as easy then getting harder and harder, and all the while the room will start to fill with Negative Star Power— or poison, but it doesn’t sound as cool— until I’m but a coughing mess and mess up an invention which will then cause the creatures getting the inventions to get madder and madder until they get mad enough to throw me out and proceed to use my inventions to bludgeon me to death!”
They smiled, looking expectantly at the Ruin and the solar bot.
The Ruin simply blinked at the explanation, unsure of what to say. Solar hummed, “that is actually horrifying, wow”
Nexus giggled, placing their paper down, “thank you”
“It suits you well,” Ruin ended up saying, lunar bot glancing at it and bowing their head in thanks.
“How about you Sol? I bet’cha got something good cooking,” the taller bot turned to the addressee, arms crossed and supporting them on the table.
Solar mumbled in hesitance, glancing back at his paper before crossing his arms.
“I’m working front desk at the Theatre and restocking the shelves, but it gets incredibly busy so I lose some customers between tending to the supplies and the crowd, and after a certain amount of customers leave, a contraption opens under me sending me to the trash compactor where I’m crushed to death and my scraps are used to make a Security Bot”
The Ruin couldn’t help the small ‘oh’ that left their voice box as Solar finished the explanation. Nexus whistled, seemingly taken aback by the grueling scene as well.
Solar scratched at one of his rays, “I just went with whatever idea I got first”
“And that was a damn good idea,” Nexus responded. Solar huffed in what was probably amusement at their friend’s reply.
The Ruin stared back at its own paper as they idly listened to its friends converse.
It looked up again after a while, trying to spot the other groups nearby.
A similar trio to them sat the closest, a Sun, a Moon, and an Eclipse, all with rather different clothes than what it would consider the standard to be. The Eclipse and Moon were seemingly arguing, the Moon debating the logistics of animatronics dying by strangulation and how it wouldn’t make sense, all the while the Eclipse wasn’t countering with the same topic but rather questioning the Moon’s apparent choice of being pelted to death. The Sun stayed silent through it all. If it remembered correctly that must be the group of the “swap” dimension, ergo the Eclipse must’ve been in a Lunar role with the Sun and Moon switching as well.
The Ruin looked the other way spotting the second group closest to them. Lucero, KC, and Dusk sat together alongside a different Eclipse. It seemed like Dusk was giving everyone pointers on what to do for their executions, understandable taking his eerie knowledge of their dimension in mind. Lucero had came up with something relating to the stars and space, a black hole apparently? KC had gone the virus route, being forced back to her old ways but managing to stop himself in death. The Eclipse said something relating to sacrifices, it hadn’t really paid much attention to that.
Looking to the next table over, the one with Lord Loser, a Miku-fied Moon, and a Lunar, the Ruin tried to pick up on their conversation as well. Death by dragon, and cheated at a game was all it heard.
The last table they could not hear at all, it contained the two Bloodmoons and the Jack. One of the Bloodmoons was seemingly talking, moving a hand around as they did, it could barely make out an explosion like gesture. Both of the others in that table were listening intently though the Ruin did not see what more transpired there, the other Bloodmoon had glared at it from their spot, something that one usually did whenever it looked over.
The Ruin turned its gaze back to its paper, slowly looking up at their friends again.
“I am getting the impression that a great majority of us might be channeling our inner conflicts onto our made up deaths”
Solar and Nexus turned to face it, silently staring as they processed its words.
“That can’t be healthy,” Solar muttered a while later.
The Ruin tapped their claws on the table, frowning at their carefully put together work.
Nexus made a prolongated ‘eh’ sound, ending in a shrug.
“It’s a good source of inspiration”
Solar and the Ruin nodded. That could not be argued against.

The Nexus of the Nine Worlds is a statue of some ducks in Boston. But considering the Nexus of All Realities is a swamp in the Florida everglades.guarded by Man-Thing, I guess this isn't too odd. Although why all the nexuses (nexi?) are on the eastern seaboard of the US, I have no idea. Guess the east coast is just where the galaxies and dimensions are all located. It's a weird thing that correlates between both the comics and these books, but I find it funny.

About the Solar Nexus Space Station
This blog takes place in an alternative reality in which humanity has reached intergalactic travel and is in a relative era of peace between different species of aliens. The Solar Nexus Space Station started as a diplomatic meeting point and a shipping hub for different goods. Over time, it grew into a city of its own, expanding and creating different sectors that house various species of aliens. The purpose of this blog is to act as a creative outlet between my assignments (admin is 21+ and is in college), and may or may not post regularly.
Participation
I encourage you to participate. I, the admin, welcome anyone who wants to join by role-playing or writing logs from the perspective of someone who fits into this narrative universe, for example, someone who resides on the Solar Nexus Intergalactic Space Station or a member of the Galactic Research and Exchange Council (GREC). This could be someone aboard a scout ship, a military vessel, a planetary research and data collection ship, or even terraformation outposts and colony ships.
Rules for Submission
Submissions should be written from the perspective of someone who exists in this narrative universe. That can be a resident of the Solar Nexus, a member of the Space Union™️, or otherwise narratively coherent.
This is not a place for hatred. Blatant Racism, homophobia, islamophobia, anti-Semitism, religious superiority, transphobia, and other bigotry will not be tolerated. I am willing to explore these ideas in this space in the narrative of character growth. For example, say a Tarkaan is really racist against Sarynites, and the Tarkaan, by the end of the arc, learns a new appreciation for Sarynite people and culture. Using this creative space as an excuse to be a bigot will not be tolerated.
If you have an idea that you would like to pitch before submission, please feel free to send an ask or a message, and I'll answer if or when I can.
About Estella Saaller
Estella Saaller is the admin's narrative vessel. She is a young, hopeful Zyrrhan starting a work placement on the Solar Nexus as a Children's Welfare worker. She looks forward to making friends and helping any displaced children aboard the Nexus and beyond.
FAQS
Why do you use AI? (admin note: no one has asked this yet; I just wanted to answer it.) As you can see from the posts, ChatGPT generates the majority of species descriptions and images. I use ChatGPT as a resource, which allows me to pursue my creative flow uninterrupted. Of course, the contributions of real artists will always be preferred. Since I am not seeking to monetize any of this work, it is morally sound (IMHO) to use AI for now. Generated images can always act as a reference for future artist contributions.

i wish i could draw and also i wish i could draw specifically stupid suit jacket that I made part of Rill's school uniform so that I can draw more of his life at school. So that we can see the side of him that most of the people in his life know rather than unfiltered teenage shithead mode. Most people who know him think he's a pleasant and mild mannered young man
