So not only did my brother's disappearance barely merit one column in the back of our local newspaper, not only is this the first time our paper has mentioned it SINCE IT HAPPENED, but now they're referring to him in QUOTATION MARKS? They want to call him a poor misguided autistic girl so badly I can TASTE IT. Absolutely REPREHENSIBLE BEHAVIOR. And, sexual incongruence disorder? Are we fucking making words up now? I have never, ever, in my life, heard anyone refer to being trans as having "sexual incongruence disorder." What the fuck? Also, can we talk about the bit where they say that HRT makes you unstable, cause I have never fucking heard that in my life. I can tell you firsthand that Ryan was 1000% more moody and unstable BEFORE he started testosterone. Since then, he's been super chill. So this is blatantly wrong.

This is why I no longer trust the BBC. Before October 7th I was more critical of it but still regarded it as a largely unbiased/reliable news source, but now its right up there with ITV and 5news

I hate the news. It feels like that small business group gets 8 million interviews every day about how very hard it is that the postal workers are striking and baby Trudeau and his government should put a stop to it (like they did for every other strike that threatened them recently). If their work is so important have you considered, perhaps, paying them more for it? Also have you considered that hearing from literally bourgeois folks (petit though they may be) on a labour dispute might be slightly biased?

Conservatives either dont have a source or send you a source from some obscure organization that is so obviously biased it could pass as satire.

Like theyll send you an article about biden doing something and it starts like:

"Evil tyrant Joe Biden and his democrat cohorts pass another anti-american bill aimed at stripping your liberties"

It makes it immidietly obvious that this is not a source that should be trusted.

That being said the point of this post is to remind everyone to be critical of the media you consume for any bias they may display. This is not unique to the republican side (tho it is much more common and blatant). Always ensure you either balance out the bias with other sources or use more reputable and journalistic sources. I personally recommend AP news as a good neutral news source and ground news as a method of analysing the news across the whole political spectrum (not sponsored)

Okay, so you’re telling me that a bunch of media companies are about to work directly with Israel and the IDF and go on a massive propaganda campaign to bolster up literal war criminals in a country which’s mere existence is a gargantuan war crime in and of itself? Fox News is constantly playing in our doctors' lounge and every time, I am reminded that it takes exponentially less energy to generate bullshit than it does to refute it.

The amount of projection and spin they apply is mind boggling it's not just "the chicken crossed the road" but "the chicken, who we suspect has ties to [insert threatening-sounding international game] was last seen crossing the road in [insert largely-white town name]. This is clearly evidence that the Democratic administration is not doing their job."

Schools, houses of worship, hospitals, and other "sensitive locations" are no longer federally protected from ICE raids and arrests. Many school districts and religious organizations are creating plans to protect immigrants and find ways to keep ICE out (namely through officially making their buildings private and therefore requiring warrants to enter), and I strongly recommend looking into local efforts and supporting them when possible, but a lot of the information about ICE that was true a week ago no longer is. Be aware, be prepared, and know your rights.
