Remembering Dame Maggie Smith, who passed away earlier this week. She starred in CURTAIN CALL (1998) with James Spader and Michael Caine, a lovely little romcom about ghosts and publishing houses. One of my favorite Jim films and she lit up every scene. May her memory be a blessing.

"I was born on one of those ships-- that probably has something to do with it~." he says light-heartedly, dropping down beside him on the bench. He'll even sling one of his arms over the back of the bench, basically around Wolfwood's shoulders as he throws one leg over the other.
Seems the menace is back to feeling fairly comfortable around the other man. Maybe even more than before.
Vash'll take another bite of his snack, maybe chew a few times before talking through his mouthful, "got some things I need to do over there... might be nice to spend some time in the observatory with the plant-life. Wouldn't be there too long."
A sort of 'vacation'... and maybe some other things. He wouldn't call it business, but...

oughhhh the parallels the details project sekai you make me sick
both of them have a photo of them having fun on holiday (taken from behind them too) on the left and a birthday photo on the right. only kanade has a parent beside her in both. both her parents are equal and active in her life until they suddenly left due to illness. mafuyu is always alone in the photos because her mother is taking the photos and her dad is at work. a mom that is too involved in her life and a dad that barely is. both are happy memories they can only revisit and never experience again.

Giving a complicated tragic childhood backstory to your favorite character is all fun and games, until you realize you need to account for how old all the other adult characters would have been at the time and realize that scenes that would work perfectly if one character was twenty three and the other was fourteen stop working when you need other characters who are played by adult actors clearly younger than they are to be in college at the same time so your story beats line up thematically.
#Don't worry. I made an excel document for this over a year ago#Was that unhinged? Yeah. But this is harder than you think it is#In unrelated news it is now reasonable to have a child in your 20s 30s or 40s depending on when the plot needs the child#Also people in their early 20s can be in grad school have already established careers and adopt children now. I've declared it.#Also: Hollywood stop trying to trick me into believing women in their 30s are the same age as men in their 50s. It's never gonna work.#I'm fighting for my life to make these age gaps normal even on a platonic level#Don't worry I aged the girls up and the boys down#But still this is a bit ridiculous#If you use the actors' ages it doesn't work. Garrison's actress is 16 years younger than Curtain. Why?#I mean I like the casting. But SQ is a teenager. We know Curtain has had his evil plans at least since SQ was born and lost his bio dad#and if the Whisperer is Garrison's invention that means she and Curtain were working together when SQ was born#If SQ in the show is 16 (the actor was older I believe) and Garrison is 37 (that's how old the actress is now she was younger at time)#That means Garrison was only 21 and Curtain was well into his 30s. And that's after you age SQ down and Garrison up for the calculations#So Garrison was likely (according to the shows' casting) even younger than that which begs the question what was Curtain doing?#Was he spending his 30s lurking around college campuses and high schools looking for a kid whose inventions he could steal?#What in the Marcus Cutter is that about?#All these jokes about Garrison being SQ's uninvolved divorced stepmom but nah she's really his estranged big sister#also this is very frustrating because the irl age gap between the actress who plays Number Two and Tony Hale only 7 years#but they're the ones for whom a 16 year age gap would have actually made sense because he adopts her in the books!#but now since Garrison is clearly so much younger than Number Two Curtain and Benedict I have to deal with this#(Don't worry I figured it out and made the age gaps normal. You just now have to believe Number Two is only a year older than Garrison)#It was the stress of living with her family that aged her and Garrison just looks naturally super young that's what we're going with.#And don't get me wrong:#I do like the actresses and actors they casted they're great but sometimes I google the ages and I'm like oh you cannot be serious#But we've (more or less) figured it out#Rant over#writing#writing struggles#tmbs

My aunt decided a good way to wish me a happy birthday would be to text me a picture of me & my dead dad from my 22nd birthday.
Like yay thanks, I totally wanted to be sad and missing my dad on my birthday. I definitely wasn't trying to do the "out of sight out of mind don't think about sad things" thing to get through it without crying or anything 👍 Definitely wasn't already struggling missing not getting a happy birthday text from him 👍👍
#and like I get that her intentions were good but i find it SO rude#why would you bring up something heart wrenchingly sad to someone on their birthday? Unless they've indicated to you that they want that#it wasn't even like it was a new picture/one she could reasonably believe I hadn't seen before#we literally used a cropped version of that exact photo for his obituary#she has done something similar with EVERY SINGLE holiday since he died#fathers day & his birthday & thanksgiving & christmas all of them we got texts like “i know how hard today must be!”#like uh no i was doing fine til I got your text actually cuz I was blocking it all out & now your text has forced me to think about it#we're not even that close? Like she legit had never texted me before my dad died#and the last conversation I had with her was her telling me that me needing help with things was co-dependence#rather than a legit need because I am disabled#and that keeping my curtains closed all the time was unhealthy#and when I tried to explain sensory issues she said that she 'gets headaches from the sun sometimes too but you just have to power through'#as if that's the same thing as sensory issues from autism#(which she is apparently an expert on because she is a nurse and has worked with a few young boys with autism)#like literally she claimed she knew better than my actual doctor who diagnoses autism for a living#or my therapist who sees me twice a week (whereas i speak to my aunt MAYBE once a year)#oh also did you know that I should totally be able to hold down a full time job?#because the 18 year old autistic boy she knows whose parents do literally everything to support him and who has zero other responsibilities#and a huge support network trying to meet his needs#well HE'S able to work part time at the movie theater#so obviously that means that I should be able to work too because we're all the same#yeah anyway sorry rant over#it just really upset me#also because I was so upset I forgot I wanted to go to the park on my way home from the weed store 😔#beth posts

Year in Review 2024 • I can safely say this year was 10/10 on the art vibes front; I went back to my roots as a horror enthusiast full throttle. Refining Skeinridge, Odregard and rolling with the aesthetics/themes I love the most has been rewarding— home is where the heart is and all that.

not to be sentimental on main but life literally gets so much better when u grow up
#if you know me irl don’t @ me for my sappiness but i am having so many emotions waking up at 7am in our new apartment#for the first time and my love is still sleeping and i made us both coffee#we put up shower curtains yesterday ?? and cried afterwards because we’ve finally moved in together?? after wanting to for years#literally life only gets better ?? i used to be seventeen and terrified of the future#and terrified that i was going to carry all the anger and fear of my family home into any new place i lived but now#i’m putting the bowls we had ice cream in last night into the dishwasher the next morning and everything is good#and i am safe and loved and not seventeen anymore#i. ah#op

my bedroom is such a fucking weird room
#like not just the base layout#but the shit i put in it and how i have everything situated#and how i decorate and the colors and where i put things#it's very weird#I'm sure to anyone who has never seen it before it would look like they've been put in purgatory#it's somehow messy and baren#full of character and so dull#half way through renovations that we've been doing for going on 3 or 4 years now#the curtains are the same ones I've had literally since i was born#and one of the walls is just covered with a giant piece of cloth so it actually looks flat#when in reality there's two whole windows behind it that we put blackout curtains on#and theres a little cloud light hung on the wall covered in fabric with a little hole for the chord to go through#my bed is made out of like cubby space like bookshelves#which we got little boxes to go in so i can store my clothes more easily#all of the walls except one (excluding the fabric wall) are painted black#some areas of the trim are green and some are a dark blue both in different kinds of paint#there's a little circus kids play tent that holds all my extra blankets and pillows and other comfy things#one of the three doors is completely blocked off by my desk#stuff seems to spill out of storage solutions and onto any free space available and even onto the floor#all the furniture is a weird hodgepodge of different colors and aesthetics and ages#some things are more recent while others I've had my entire life and you can tell#some of them were found in thriftshops some of them were bought new and some where even put on the curb by our neighbors#nothing is consistent and yet that's it's consistency

I really forgot just how miserable I was here huh
