gripping the steering wheel tight you waited for the lights to go out and for the race to begin. 3, 2, 1.. you slammed on the gas and took off. time to get to work.

“box, box” your engineer instructed over the radio and you let out a sigh of relief. the tyre degradation in vegas was stronger than expected and you were thankful to pick up a new set of hards. except when you came into the pit lane - you saw only one mechanic waiting for you. there was no one there. surely they should be there? “did i miss the box?” you muttered to yourself passing the alpine garage and making your way through the pit lane. nope. no box missed. your team just wasn’t there.

“are you fcking kidding me?! where was everyone?!” you screamed into the radio as you pulled out of the pit lane and reentered the race without new tyres and a whole lot of time lost.

“there was a miscommunication, y/n. please come back next lap.”

you stepped off the scale as quickly as possible snatching the paper from the fia agent and turning swiftly toward your garage. you desperately needed air and a moment alone.

practically running through the pit lane, you ignored your team who tried to call after you as you hurried toward your drivers room. you flung open the door and locked it behind you before ripping your helmet off of your head and slumping down to the ground.

putting your head in your hands, you cried. the race couldn’t have gone any worse. your mechanics weren’t ready for you to box causing you to lose over 20 seconds of time. your strategy calls after that were abysmal and you landed almost in dead last. this sort of a performance was not how you were going to gain a seat for next season and it certainly wasn’t going to stop the skeptics from trying to tear you down.

a soft knock sounded against your door and you heard an unmistakable voice, “y/n/n let me in.” you tried to wipe away some of the tears as you unlocked the door and scooted out of the way so lance could open the it. he looked down at you on the floor and frowned instantly. “oh y/n/n, come here.” he instructed holding out his hand for you. reluctantly you took it and allowed him to pull you up into his arms.

“what happened?” lance asked gently as you sobbed into his chest. you noticed that he was still very much in his race suit which meant he likely hadn’t done his media duties yet either and instead came to see you.

“everything went wrong,” you explained wiping your eyes again and leaning back to look at him. “my mechanics weren’t ready when i went to box and i lost so much time it ended my chances of being competitive and on top of that i just drove like absolute dog shit so i didn’t help myself either.”

lance wiped away a tear from your cheek, “i’m sorry y/n/n. that sucks but this isn’t the end. you have two more races - it isn’t over till it’s over.”

“i consciously know you’re right but i just… i don’t know lance - this pressure is more than i could have ever imagined.”

“i can’t pretend to understand how you’re feeling but i can tell you that no one is perfect after 4 races. you are doing the best that you can.” lance assured wiping more tears from your face as your crying slowed.

there was a forceful knock at the door, “y/n you need to get to the media pen. now.” your pr manager said sternly through the door pulling you back to reality.

lance sighed before letting you go, “alright come on. let’s get out there before people start to spread rumors about what we’re doing in here.” he laughed fixing his race suit, “and don’t get me wrong i love you but you unfortunately are not my type and also i am not a 6 foot 3 british man so im not yours either.”

you let out a laugh and lance was pleased to hear it. “yeah yeah let’s go.”

before walking out of your driver room, lance turned and said “hey y/n/n… don’t let them see you rattled - they don’t deserve it.”

you had begrudgingly agreed to go out and celebrate with george and the rest of the mercedes crew even though you had no interest in partying after the race you had. but, at the end of the day, george was one of your best friends and he deserved to be celebrated. you both were a couple drinks deep at this point and george was clearly getting loose. “of course you can georgie!”

he tucked a piece of hair behind you ear, “i um…” he paused stealing another glance at your lips. “i’ve been wanting to tell you something for like a really long time and seeing you leave your drivers room with lance made me realize i should tell you sooner rather than later.”

“what are you talking about? nothing happened with lance and i earlier! he came to check on me after the race.” you put your empty glass down on the bar next to you as you tried to comprehend what he was saying.

“regardless of what was happening it made me realize that i couldn’t keep pretending like i don’t want to be more than just friends with you.”

it felt like the wind was knocked right out of you, there was no way you heard what you thought you just heard. “george william russell - you can’t be serious.”

“i am!” george insisted incredulously, “i have fancied you since what feels like the dawn of time. since i met you on the karting track for the first time. remember? when you barreled directly into the back of my kart? you hit me because i broke too soon and then you being you - you yelled at me after the race and even while yelling you were the most beautiful girl i’d ever laid eyes on.”

“george, i don’t know what to say.”

george ran both hands through his hair. “you don’t have to say anything y/n. i just wanted you to know how i felt because i —“

before he could say anything more you stood up on your tiptoes and kissed him right there in the middle of the club.

This man is the definition of malewife and no one can convince me otherwise

I have a headcanon that Hypnos is actually a good cook, but he gets too distracted or tired to keep track of the time and ends up burning it

Each time he does, he offers it to you with a sheepish smile and a, “Tada!” (you have shared many a burnt meal together, but you don’t care)

When he does manage to make dinner without cremating it, it’s the warmest, most comforting food that no one in the Underworld can rival

Loves it when you visit and sit with him at work, finds himself actually putting effort in to impress you (he loves receiving words of affirmation, please give him all the praises)

On his break, he’ll just slump against your shoulder (I read a headcanon somewhere that his cloak/blanket thing is sentient, so imagine it wrapping around you both to induce sleepy-time snuggles)

He loves the fact that you listen to all his rambles with an attentive and lovestruck smile on your face instead of getting annoyed like everyone else

He’ll return the favour by making the effort to stay awake to spend time with you and listen to everything you say, hanging off your every word even when he’s tired (that’s when you know Hypnos is in deep)

If they serve milkshakes in the lounge (probably don’t, but let’s imagine), he’d definitely want to get one glass two straws to share (same with spaghetti, he wants to Lady and the Tramp it - sharing is another of his love languages)

You can’t cuddle with him if you’re busy, his sleepy aura will rub off on you and you’ll both be dozing like sleepy kittens - get all your work done before

KBS Hall day 2 dir en grey who is hell for live review. Yes we’re doing two in one day haha.

Today was my last show😭i felt a little emotional all day. It started out with getting numbers for merch and the special sticker was Kyo!! Unfortunately no shiny for me.

After getting the stickers we went back to the hotel to get ready and chill for a while until the concert started. We did visit big boss!!

A japanese mutual messaged me in line for merch to say hi and gave me these amazing stickers she made🥹

I had number 979 but followed some guys into the push and actually ended up with quite a good spot in front of Kaoru where i could see everyone quite well🥰.

Kaoru wore the same outfit as Zepp and Kyo was in the same black get up again. Ngl i was a little disappointed we didnt get at least one dramatic look but it was also nice to see him comfy like this. (And the bobaaas!)

Godddss the Conceived sorrow, dozing green & IIId empire combo killed me in the best possible way. Also as a Vulgar lover it was nice to see everyone cheer for iiid empire hahaha. I was aorund some Kyo/Kaoru fanboys and it was good vibes. Even though there was a push at first, i could just move around later and wasnt too squished and we were all headbanging and having a good time. KBS hall was definitely a great vibe!!

The boys (i know they’re old men but) really came alive for iiid empire and later obscure too!!kyo danced during phenomenon again. His little waist, augh..

Vinushka was amazing as always. Diabolos definitely has a special place in my hearts after this tour! God i love it and i love Kaorus guitar playing in it.

Kaoru was really playing with the crowd and seemed in a good mood, they all switched places a few times. Kyo came over to our side and was hanging over the crowd in the rigging, but his mic chord didnt reach that far😂 so he was struggling to still sing in the mic and also letting us sing, it was cute.

After last song kyo threw his towel. I think at a younger kid? I couldn’t exactly see but people were describing it as an avalanche of ppl going for the towel. Kyo was laughing and making sure they were okay and he stayed on much longer than usual because of this. He was smiling SO big 😭 and laughing at the incident. After it was okay he thanked the crowd again with the biggest smile 😭 gah.

At the same time, Kaoru threw one pick and then… just left? He did kind of a double take and did like a clap/applause at the audience and then just walked off?? 🥺 i dont know what happened there. He later posted about the avalanche on his story but.. that happened with Kyo so im not sure what was doing on. He was so beautiful again though 😭 i’m always intimidated when they look in my direction and quickly look awayyy.

Toshiya ended up throwing some of Kaorus picks but unfortunately all near the front.

Afterwards I went for food with new and old (kind of) friends and it was so nice again🥰 honestly my heart feels so full. Thank you for your heart work Dir en grey and thank you to everyone i met on this tour, everyone has been so kind🥹

Jake feels the warm air in the morning, a little too humid for his liking but he doesn’t think much of it. He does his usual suburban routine- wake up, get ready and hop in his car to drive to university. Or so he thinks.

1 seconds…48 second… 5 minutes passes and he’s still there. He hadn’t even started his car….

He thinks he forgets something, maybe his biology book but remember it’s physics lecture today. Or maybe he was supposed to wear a different outfit. He can’t figure it out.

He feels like something is missing but can’t point out what it is. Shrugging it off, he starts his drive and your tune starts playing 2 minute into the drive.

“Y/N please, it’s too early-“

He realises you’re not next to him. (Awkward)🐦‍⬛

Opting on turning off the music altogether, he then starts hearing your voice. Damn, he might be going KINDA insane. What’s next? Seeing you?

Surprise! Yes he does (really!) he sees you on the bus stop laughing with euijoo. He thanks the universe that he’s stuck on a traffic because he would’ve crashed the car💀 (either with car infront of him… or with EJ what)

You don’t notice him when he discreetly opens his car window. Damn, why’d u just ignore your bestie like that?

It’s been a little under 5 days when he’s realising your missing presence. The empty drive going to university and back, the seat next to him in classes you both share, and his phone notifications.

5 days never felt long and unbearable. And you weren’t budging. You’d been avoiding him all together and it’s going strong

and when they say karma hits back, it really went back at the best time for Jake.

Really. At the end of 5th day, he was benched out again during practice for spacing out. “Jake… if u gets benched out for the nth time again, you might get benched during the game in 2 weeks fr” -coach.

WTF. That on top of you avoiding him like a plague doesn’t make Jake feel good anymore.

He takes a break and by miracle, he sees you when he went to get his water bottle filled!!!

Suddenly, he felt a huge sense of relief seeing you. It’s like your presence is a natural remedy to his fatigue.

Jake didn’t know why but he is drawn towards you, forgetting his half filled bottle by the fountain. His mouth opened, ready to call out your name-

He watched you jogged up to none other than euijoo, handing him a drink. euijoo’s arm swings around you, hand circling on your small back. A small laugh eliciting from you as he whispers something on your ear, both walking towards the exit.

Jake’s pupils were shaking as he watched the scene, the interaction was SO casual. SO affectionate. The interaction you’ve always had reserved for him. The action that should only be for him. He IS your best friends after all.

Jake broke his thoughts when he felt an ugly pain in chest, and small yet piercing pricks on his insides. The piercing pain gets worse when he remembers euijoo’s arm around you…. and your smile.

He hasn’t seen you in a while, and maybe- just maybe… he thought talking to you and seeing your smile will make everything all okay again.

Jake clicked his tongue, brushing his hair back before heading to the gym.

“Day 6 of Byun Euijoo babysitting a sad heartbroken hopeless romantic. Thank you for these chocolates” you sigh

“Don’t be a sadist. Just focus on your chocolate and find us a cafe to visit after class today so your brain preoccupied . My treat” his hand coming up to pinch your cheek hard.

“You need to seriously stop lying to yourself. If the world made you two childhood friend and got a long so well together, you’re both bound to develop feelings and accepting them instead of being in denial is a lot easier than ruining whatever u guys had” Jay groaned in annoyance.

“What the fuck was that supposed to mean?” Jake felt anger overwhelm him .”y/n was the one who kept pushing her romantic feelings on me. I’m supposed to be her best friend, nothing more”

“You keep saying you’re her best friend but are you even being hers?” Jay shot back defensively, jaw clenching tightly. Jay had equally known you way back too, so he can be defensive when it comes to it. (GO JAY🫶)

“And you’re blaming y/n? You’re more than just being fucking stupid now. Y/n had never forced her romantic feelings on you beyond your boundaries. All this time, she was being a good best friend waiting for you to return something someday. But you? You’re the shittiest best friend.” JAW DROPPPED.

“Get your head out of your ass and wake up, if you just showed a bit of interest with y/n and became a good best friend to her, then this wouldn’t have happened in the first place” Jay… marry me atp

“You don’t know shit Jay. This whole bestfriend and romance is too fucked up” (Jake pls respectfully shut up babs)

“if this situation is fucked up, then what about you Sim? Don’t you think it’s fucked up that you keep hurting your own childhood best friend for nothing? Acting like a fucking brat each time she’s around”

“What” Jake might just be shaking rn

“You just tossed away her feelings, trying to be ignorant of your own. You didn’t think she wouldn’t notice, right? Taking her kindness for granted, rolling your eyes at her whenever she was a little too happy at your actions, and throwing her gift.“

“Yeah, that letter she wrote you and you threw it right in the trash infront of her face? Fuck you. And she’d come and smile at me saying you were having a bad day ”

Jake couldn’t respond, he didn’t know want to say. He admits some of the things he’s done in the past weren’t nice, but he was just upset when those things happened.

Maybe that was the coldest wake up call

“It’s not hard to admit you’re in the wrong. You’re ignoring the fact you like her and masking it as best friend. No wonder y/n is replacing you with euijoo. He should’ve been her-“

Before Jay could finish, Jake pushed him by the chest.

“Oh hyung that’s kinda little too far-“ Riki couldn’t even finish his sentence too

And it all happened in a single second

Jake launched himself onto Jay, grabbing the boy by the collar and his right fist, collided against the side of Jay’s mouth.

All this in the canteen too. And you saw. You were ready to walk up to Jake but you felt euijoo’s hand on yours, shaking his head to say it wasn’t for you to interfere before dragging you away.

At 6pm, Jake find himself in his bedroom. His room filled with memories of you two. It doesn’t really help the situation. Polaroid of you two on his wall, the old (and his first!) basketball you gave him, your doodles on his books….

But you’re not there, next to him laughing and watching some Netflix shows over takeout

In fact, he can’t remember the last time you came over to watch Netflix show after he stopped you because someone had suggested it was too romantically domestic and you didn’t protest.

Now his thought is on you. Were you doing that with euijoo now? Did he return the same feeling as you felt and didn’t hold himself in the guise of friendship? He would make you way more happier than he ever could.

He’s literally mentally and physically tired at the though.

Jake turned over to his stomach, burying his face against his pillows. His heart ached even more with a dull pain.

This is what he wanted right? But now he was wishing for nothing more than to restart this friendship with feelings with you.

It took 7 days for Jake to realise everything. He arrived to university, messy hair and dark circles. His steps is towards his group of friends, especially towards Jay who’s sporting a dark cut on his lip.

“I’m sorry. You were right Jay. I didn’t have the right to get mad at y/n for developing feelings and showing them when I’m no better. I guess I did too, but tried to push it as friendship. I was just scared”

“And, I wasn’t really mad at y/n or you guys. I was just really mad at myself for letting it get this far and-“

“Hey, it’s okay Sim. We forgive you. All that matters is you’ve acknowledged your mistakes and feelings. Now we just have to work on them” Jay chuckled, attempting to comfort the sulking boy

At lunch, Jake is aware of the soft sound of your laughter at the back of the room, making his heart heavy .

He watched you say something to Nicholas and Gaeul excitedly. He smiled at the sight, adoring the wide smile on your lips.

As if his feelings crashed all too sudden, he’s hit with the realisation that you’ll probably never look at him like that anymore.

“Hey guys! I know this might be sudden, but the art club are needing help for the cultural festival. Do you have time to help even for an hour? I know you might be busy with basketball so you can skip when you have practice” Under class Kim Sunoo appeared like the ray of sunshine infront of the guys.

“We already have few people joining! Y/n just signed up to help-“

I think the hardest thing about being a bigger girl was liking a guy. Always on this see saw of they could like me or they could find me disgusting. It hurt a lot, and what didn’t help was being in the social media light. Your appearance constantly being judged and critiqued

I tried to not let the hate get to me, but occasionally it did. However, having loving and supporting friends surrounding me made it better.

I had gotten close to the triplets within the last year and a half, and it’s been interesting. I had their fans either loving me or hating me, and at times it got hard, but the triplets helped me not think too much about it.

Matt helped me the most especially since I also had anxiety like him, him and I actually grew pretty close. I started to like him a lot, and because of societal standards I forced these feelings deep down.

I couldn’t fandom to face the rejection from him if I ever came to tell him how I felt. I knew Matt would never like someone like me. It’s nothing against him, that's just what he’s used to. Skinnier, prettier and all around better. I tried not to think this way, but it was hard when that’s all you see in the LA influencer world

My feelings for Matt grew more and more daily, and I was hurting myself by thinking he could like someone like me. I mean he could? Couldn’t he?

Today the triplets wanted to film a Q and A podcast for their channel, and they had asked me to join, so I agreed. They made a post last night asking for questions, and boy did they get a lot

I had gotten to the triplets house, and felt so nervous to answer questions to the public

“Hey Y/N” Nick said as I came up the stairs

“Hey guys” I said smiling at them

“I love your outfit” Matt said coming over to hug me

“Oh thanks” I said hugging him back

“Came extra pretty today” Chris said snapping his fingers

I was wearing wide leg denim jeans with a fitted black shirt that said fuck off and black chunky sandals….nothing special,so their compliments were nice but made me question did they always look at my outfits and my appearance? My anxiety spiking

We had gone up to the podcast room, sitting in our seats and getting ready to film

“Okay welcome back campers I’m your host Nick Sturniolo”

“I’m Matt Sturniolo”

“And I’m Chris” Chris said giggling

“Today we have a special guest with us, our friend Y/N” Nick said

“Hiiii” I said into the mic and smiling at my camera

“You guys were begging for more videos with Y/N, so why not an hour long video with her” Nick said

“And to make it better we’re doing a Q and A, so we can get personal” Chris said

“Perfect! Getting personal online, my favorite” I said giggling

“Laura picked out these questions for us by the way, so we have no idea what we’re getting ourselves into” Matt said

“Without further ado let’s start” Nick said

“Okay so the first question is where do you see yourself in five years?” Chris asked

“In five years I hope to see myself still doing what I love which is filming videos, and just growing with my brothers as a whole” Nick said

“I hope in five years I’m settled down in a nice relationship, living my cabin life and making videos with these two” Matt said

“I like that, and not to be the same but I’d like to be doing exactly what I’m doing now in five years. Just growing with everyone I love surrounded by me” Chris said

“Nice answer” I said nodding my head him

“And for you?” Matt asked me

“I uh I think for me, in five years I’d like to be further in my career, you know. I’d also like to be in a better mental state whatever that looks like. I’d assume I’d like to be in a relationship at that point as well” I said nodding at Matt

“Those were great answers” Chris said

“Okay next one” Matt said

“So the fans want to know what is the most embarrassing interaction you’ve ever had with anybody” Nick said laughing

“We as a whole will not be answering that, but maybe Y/N might have something”Matt said looking at the camera

“The most embarrassing interaction I have I can not and will not say as it’s embarrassing on my part” I said laughing and shaking my head

“Awwww” Chris said

“Sorry guys, but that’s going to the grave with me” I said laughing

We had asked a few more questions, and suddenly Nick eyes brightened at the question he was reading

“I like this one! This is for Y/N. The viewers want to know what’s the dating scene for you right now. Are you seeing someone, are you interested in someone…what’s the tea” Nick said looking at me

“Oh god I’m in the hot seat” I said widening my eyes

“You sure are” Chris said

“Alright I’m about to be real vulnerable with yall. I am not seeing anyone right now, I’m not talking to anyone right now, but I do have someone in my mind that I like” I said giggling and covering my mouth

“Ouuuu tell us” Chris said

“Absolutely not” I said laughing

“But no, what I was saying is the dating scene in LA is trash all across the board. However it’s even worse for me because I am a bigger girl, and that’s already not accepted by society. So when you’re in the influencer scene and you live in LA you don’t meet the nicest guys. The amount of popular influencers who have messaged me telling me that they would never collab with me or ever be seen with me because of my physical appearance is absurd. It’s hard especially when you like a guy that you know wouldn’t like you back, you beat yourself up over it. Because at the end of the day we’re all humans and we all crave love and attention, and we’re told that if we don’t look a certain way we’re not deserving of that love. So the dating pool for me right now is trash” I said shrugging my shoulders

“You know that sucks, and it’s bullshit. I think the way that the media is is so fucked up. Forcing these young girls to think that they should be a specific way to find love or be “pretty” is insane” Nick said

“Yeah I agree! It’s like who fucking cares what someone looks like it’s about what’s on the inside” Chris said

“100%” Nick and Matt both said

“Okay this next question is similar to the last, this person said Y/N please tell us how you secure a man as a bigger girl, no offense at all I’m just genuinely scared of going after guys I like because I’m bigger myself” Chris read

“Oh no offense taken, to be honest I don’t know like I said I’m not in the dating scene right now, so I have no advice. I myself am scared to reach out to any guy I find attractive because of how mean these guys are. My biggest fear is rejection, and when I’ve been rejected by every guy you start to build up a wall in your heart, and it’s hard to stop that” I said

“So I have a personal question” Nick said

“Yeah” I said nodding my head

“Is there any specific type of guy that you do find has reached back out to you, or has messaged you and hasn’t cared about your appearance” he said

“To be honest no. Big guys, skinny guys, medium guys, buff guys, all guys in LA have made it known they don’t like me. Or they want to keep me on the low and it’s just not worth it to put myself through that pain” I said

“That shit pisses me off so much, like why does it matter what a girl looks like. If she’s a great person who’s got her head on right it shouldn’t matter what her body looks like” Matt said

“I agree” Chris said

“I would date any girl doesn’t matter if she’s bigger, smaller, shorter or taller as long as her morals are in line and she’s a great person I could care less” Matt said

“Tell us how you really feel” Nick said laughing

“It’s the truth. That’s what pissed me off about LA they all have this image, and if you don’t fit this image then you’re not worthy of anything, it’s just stupid as fuck” Matt said

“Bouncing off of what Matt said, I completely agree I’d date any girl. Like I’ve said in the past videos I love all women, doesn’t matter what you look like” Chris said

“That’s the other thing women would date these gross ass gremlins, and then one of these ugly ass guys would look at a beautiful woman and pick her apart, like I promise you she wouldn’t even look your way” Nick said laughing

“No I agree….men are just shallow you know. Not all men, but most are shallow and only care about looks” I said

“So Matt for the viewers, who would you date?” Chris asked

Matt looked at the camera

“I would date anybody, I would date Y/N” Matt said

“WOAHHHH” Nick said

“No I would. She’s got her head on right, her morals in line. She’s funny, nice and beautiful, and not once did I bring up her body because it doesn’t fucking matter” Matt said

“Matt’s getting bold” Chris said

“If I didn’t know Y/N and I walked past her on the street, or she slid in my dms. I would without a doubt ask her out” Matt said

“Honestly same, she’s someone I’d ask out too had I not known her” Chris said

“What’s crazy is Y/N is literally both of theirs type, and I’m just now realizing this” Nick said laughing

We had ended the podcast, and headed back down to the living room sitting on the couch

Why were you so nervous?

Your hands trembled as you scanned through the most appropriate outfit you could find to just ‘casually’ hang out with jake. Which was weird to say considering he is still your boss.

Oh god, he’s still your boss…This was so wrong!

Maybe it was because you two almost kissed which made you forget he was your boss. Either ways, this wasn’t right but Jake was expecting you so you had to go over. As per usual, you made your way past the community gate and parked right outside of Jake’s house. Mrs.Matilda wasn’t at the porch so you assumed she must be having her afternoon nap.

You could feel the way your hands were starting to sweat. The nerves getting to you the closer you stepped onto Jake’s porch. You clicked on the doorbell. You nearly winced at the loud (fancy high end) doorbell he had, like a complete horror movie kind.

The black haired boy opens the door, a cute smile adorning his face. As he was about to say something, Layla perches at your legs and tries to somehow climb at you. Which was impossible considering how big of a dog she was.

“Layla, (name) is our guest. We don’t climb our guests.” Jake warns the puppy. The small whimpers Layla gave out was obviously hurting Jake’s heart so he gives a small ruffle to her fur and turns to look at you.

“Sorry, she’s umm…really excited to see you.” He says as he scratches his nape in shyness/awkwardness.

“is Layla excited to see me or are you excited to see me?”

“umm…both? god, I’m sorry.” Jake groans.

you chuckled, “it’s fine. this is our first time actually hanging out causally. usually, I would be over to puppy-sit Layla.”

“oh, right. wanna order something to eat? unfortunately, as you know…from jay, that I have zero idea how to cook.”

“sure, why not.”

This was very awkward…

You were sure Layla could feel how awkward it was because she started getting a little rowdy. Just as you sat down, she jumps onto your lap and starts licking your face.

“Layla.” Jake warns her a little. The puppy doesn’t stop until you were smiling genuinely. Jake pats the empty spot beside him to get Layla to sit next to him but she doesn’t listen.

She only whimpers trying hard to get you to feel comfortable. Ah if only she understood how hard it was to act around your boss who you were pretty sure knew about your crush on him. Maybe she knows.

“I’m sorry about her, I have zero clue why she’s acting this way. She usually listens to me very well.” Jake apologises.

“it’s alright.” You held Layla close and hugged her. She calms down a little. Her heavy breathing dies down due to her excitement. “She’s just really good at reading emotions sometimes.”

Jake tilts his head. He didn’t understand what you meant but it’s fine. Maybe when the time comes. For now, he could only hope for you to actually notice him making a move.

Or was it too quick? Was he moving too fast? Oh god.

Jake was internally panicking. Why was he so nervous around you? You were his secretary for 4 years now, he shouldn’t feel scared or nervous. It’s not like you were going to bite him.

Just as jake opens his mouth to utter something, his phone rings. He looks at you apologetically and goes to answer the call. You were waiting for him. It took longer than you expected and so curiously got to the best of you.

“Dad, no. I am not marrying her. She’s not the woman I like. What? What do you mean, I have no choice? That doesn’t make any sense. Yeah, I am growing old but I want to find a woman I like to marry. Not be arranged to marry.”

You felt sad. Well not for yourself but for jake. Why is it that rich young people always have to be arranged for marriage. You couldn’t help but wonder. The way jake paced back and forth while on the call with his dad only led you to do one thing…

“baby?” you called out. Jake turns around in shock. “you were taking too long, even Layla was getting riled up.”

You looked down at Layla and she seemed to get the note. She whimpers a little at jake. Her tail drooping and wagging slowly. “You said you would take 5 minutes…it’s been almost 15 minutes. I was worried sick.” You jutted out your lower lips, giving Jake a small pout.

Jake was frozen, he couldn’t say a single word. All he heard was his dad blasting him questions and demanded answers. However, that went a complete blur since his brain sort of short circuited.

Did you just call him baby?

“Sim Jaeyun.” His dad on the call says in a stern voice. Jake finally gets back from his little moment. He felt his face heat up.

“yes, dad?”

“who was that?”

“umm.”
