My new inkle loom arrived last week & I’m so in love! I spent the weekend warping and starting the weaving of a simple tablet band to teach myself this technique. The design is out of the ‘Tablets at Work’ book and isn’t twist neutral, hence I used swivels at the warp ends.

If you're interested in textile art, please understand it will not end at one of the arts. Interested in weaving? There are many different types, so now you're learning about the culture these styles come from, and with that comes learning about their clothing. Now you're interested in learning how to sew clothing, and much of it has some kind of embroidery. So you do research and see how beautiful it is, and different types of embroidery exist. You decide to learn embroidery and get curious about lace because often they're seen together.

Prepare for a journey and get real good at organizing. You'll soon lose space because of supplies and tools.

I enjoyed watching The Orville. The Moclan female Heveena was one of my favorite characters. I have made 4 quilts using The Orville as inspiration.

Of the four quilts I have made 2 of them are about the Female Moclan Colony. The Moclan houses have unique windows and that is what the first quilt represents. The quilt is lovely but I regret not mirroring the window design.

The second quilt is a representation of the couch quilt in the Dolly Parton episode and the necklace the female Moclan leader “Heveena” wore.

Iris Apfel, a textile expert, interior designer and fashion celebrity known for her eccentric style, has died. She was 102.

Her death was confirmed by her commercial agent, Lori Sale, who called Apfel “extraordinary.” No cause of death was given. It was also announced on her her verified Instagram page on Friday, which a day earlier had celebrated that Leap Day represented her 102nd-and-a-half birthday.
