You couldn't make star wars today because they'd claim that destroying the death star would make them as bad as the empire and the real villains would be revealed to be rebels who went too far.

Piracy/physical media has always been more ethical then whatever the fuck streaming services have been doing. It gives shows a chance to be alive outside of whatever company is producing it. It gives pieces of media a safe place that won’t have to worry about corrupt ceos trying to write off shows for tax Benifs. Here’s a list of shows that have been affected by corporate greed rn
- The Amazing World Of Gumball
- Steven universe
- Chowder
- We bare bears
- Regular show
- Powerpuff girls (2016 reboot)
- Ben 10 (2016 reboot)
All these shows have just been removed from their main streaming platform, HBOmax. Hulu has all these shows luckily but it’s still insane to me how these popular shows can be taken away in a second. The reason these shows were taken down was probably cause of the recent bundle with Disney, Hulu, and HBOmax, but HBOmax was suppose to be the main place for Cartoon Network, also hulu dosent have all of Steven universe either, which is a whole entire diff issue at hand. On the FRONT PAGE of the Cartoon Network website it was reading how you should watch their cartoons on HBOmax!!

What the fuck man 😭😭 we barley even got any warning or explanation as to why she’s shows have been canceled!! This is stupid as hell idk please pirate these shows and please boost the importance of physical materials/copies because you never know which company is about to axe over your favorite show!

When you absolutely despise something a lot of people like, and no matter what way you look at it you cannot see the appeal, but you know you can’t talk about it in public or else you’ll get dogpiled to hell and back, so you just kinda sit there frothing at the mouth like this

Your description of yourself is the guy with Opinions on Steven Universe so say what you think of Peridot
Fond of her. I don't think I've got much to say about her that the more singularly fixated SU analysts haven't gotten to. I will say that she's a pretty salient example of a quote-unquote "redemption arc" that's facilitated in large part by the villain being "redeemed" never having actually caused serious, lasting, unfixable harm before switching sides, such that the story being told in practice is the story of an interpersonally unpleasant person working on themselves and learning to be less of a tar pit- jazzed up with ray guns and cartoonish doomsday devices. This is interesting taken on its own terms, but not necessarily morally interesting in the way the phrase "redemption arc" would ideally imply.
Contrast (unfavorably) with Entrapta in She-Ra, where they're clearly chasing a Peridot-adjacent energy, but the narrative treats the conflict between her and the protagonists as a similar kind of souped-up interpersonal miscommunication when no, she's in fact on the hook for very literal war crimes in a way the narrative was never really prepared to weigh seriously due to the use of a handful of Princesses as a metonym for everything meaningful SPOP is interested in trying to say, to the exclusion of more literal, non-metaphorical worldbuilding. Zuko, meanwhile, sits in a happy middle ground where he genuinely is attached to some morally heinous shit that the show is interested in weighing and unpacking, but not so deeply attached as to become synonymous with it in a way that would make his redemption come across as apologetics. (I sort of use these three as reference points when calculating how annoyed to get at the writing decisions of whatever children's cartoon I'm currently watching- this does not translate very well outside of that space methinks)

This was a very silly goofy post I enjoyed but it also sparked genuine curiosity: how accurate is this? I’m a data hound, so I did some fact checking. Please be aware I am by no means an expert and this was simply a result of some cursory investigating and inputting stuff into a calculator.
For RTD, I took it to mean any episode title that was singular. Only eight out of the sixty episodes of RTD’s run have one word titles, with six having two syllables (Dalek, Doomsday, Gridlock, 42, Utopia, and Midnight) and the other two being monosyllabic (Rose and Blink). That’s roughly 13% of his episodes. Definitely a trend but he was actually quite creative with his titles. Here’s some other fun statistical stuff: the most popular words in episode titles appear to be ‘dead’ (The Unquiet Dead, Forest of the Dead and Planet of The Dead), ‘planet’ (Impossible Planet, Planet of the Ood, Planet of the Dead) and ‘time’ (Last of the Time Lords, End of Time Part 1 and End of Time Part 2) occurring at about 5% each, with ‘earth’ and ‘doctor’ occurring twice each respectively.
For Moffat, I went a little more broad, considering any episode that used the naming convention ‘of’/‘of the’ or featured ‘doctor’ in any capacity. Out of the eighty-four episodes in his run, twenty six filled the criteria, that’s about 31%. Eighteen adhered to the ‘of’ requirement (Victory of the Daleks, The Time of Angels, The Vampires of Venice, Day of the Moon, Curse of the Black Spot, The Wedding of River Song, Asylum of the Daleks, The Power of Three, The Bells of Saint John, The Rings of Akhaten, Journey to the Center of the TARDIS, Robot of Sherwood, In the Forest of the Night, The Husbands of River Song, The Pyramid at the End of the World, The Lie of the Land, The Empress of Mars, and The Eaters of Light), four contained the word ‘doctor’ (Vincent and the Doctor, The Doctor’s Wife, The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe, and The Doctor Falls), and four fit into both categories (The Name of the Doctor, The Day of the Doctor, The Time of the Doctor and The Return of Doctor Mysterio; it’s funny once you realize that Name, Day and Time were all released sequentially). The claim is thereby substantiated, the man loves his ‘of’s’.
Chibnall’s criteria was difficult to discern but I decided on anything that contained the name of a Who monster classic or otherwise, was a part, or similarly used ‘of’/‘of the’. My findings were quite interesting as there was bunch of overlap between my selected categories. As a whole, out of the thirty-one episodes in Chibnall’s run, eighteen fit the criteria. That’s an overwhelming 58%, so it is most definitely correct assumption. In terms of part episodes, there were eight as there are two proper parted episodes (Spyfall, Part 1 and Spyfall, Part 2) and the serialized six-episode Flux series. Thirteen episodes contain ‘of’/‘of the’ with six exclusively using ‘of’/‘of the’ (The Demons of the Punjab, The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror, The Haunting of Villa Diodati, Chapter Five: Survivors of the Flux, Power of The Doctor). This is where it gets interesting, as the remaining seven episodes containing ‘of’ are all the Who monster episodes (Ascension of the Cybermen, Revolution of the Daleks, Fugitive of the Judoon, Chapter Two: War of the Sontarans, Chapter Four: Village of the Angels, Eve of the Daleks, Legend of the Sea Devils). It would appear that Chibnall is an equal fiend for ‘of’s’, especially considering the monsters. So, very on brand for classic who naming conventions as well.
To conclude, it was a largely factual silly goofy post (props to @fanonical) and I enjoyed my little data collection exercise.

I cannot express in words how exhausting Moffat's who is so far
Like his women are 1 dimensional, the doctor is weirdly aggressive and thoughtless and not in a well-written or engaging way, the quips are fucking exhausting and don't get me started on the goddamn plot mess. I literally just watched it and I still don't get Demon's Run. Like who is Madame Kovarian, who are the Silence, why are they so obsessed with killing the Doctor, where did the significance of Demon's Run come from, why should we care about any of this? And past that, how did Mel get away from the Silence? How did she end up growing up alongside Amy and Rory? Moffat doesn't slow down and allow us to slow down and process anything, which means all this shit he's throwing at us just feels hollow and unearned. He's got some cool ideas that could be really enjoyable if they were slower paced and better explained. The Doctor being weirdly aggressive and self-important would be interesting if it weren't portrayed as him just being a genius action hero. Amy being dismissive of/talking down to/insulting Rory would be more tolerable if it wasn't played for laughs most of the time. Hell, River secretly growing up alongside the Ponds could've been really cool if it was better explained, better foreshadowed, and not just crammed into "two episodes containing at least half a season's worth of content." So many of these ideas have a lot of potential and ZERO payoff.
I wanted to make a tier list of every RTD and Moffat episode but tbh I don't think I'll make it past Angels Take Manhattan. I just can't do that to myself. I can make it to Angels and then I need a very long break

I've been complaining a lot lately about people not having enough media literacy but seeing some of ya'll's takes on this banger new season of Black Mirror has me wondering if you guys have... too much media literacy.
