The only evidence needed for shipping Doug / Warlock. Nah but like fr, how am I supposed to read this scene as something other than flirting? Like Warlock is askin Doug which human form he finds most "pleasing" and alternates between multiple ones (including Doug himself it seems lol)? I mean maybe you could view it as a "which clothes do you think look best on me" which yeah could be platonic? It just read to me as if it was more along the lines of asking "Do I look hot in this dress?"
It's a cute scene overall no matter how you read it.

I’m in the process of rereading the 1983 run of New Mutants and I had genuinely forgotten how much of Illyana’s narration is dedicated to her waxing poetry about Kate. It’s “My best friend Kitty…” followed by the most romantic declaration of undying love you’ve ever witnessed.

What The Sequel(s) to X-Men: Days of Future Past Should Have Looked Like
I haven’t even seen X-Men: Apocalypse or X-Men: Dark Phoenix start to finish but thanks to this app i know practically the entire plots of both films and i’m just so utterly appalled by them. Not just with the way they mess up the timeline (Jean & Scott as teenagers and Warren as a young adult in 1983?? Excuse me?? No way Logan’s time shenanigans altered people’s birth dates, what??) But also with the way they just butcher every character arc - Charles being selfish? Erik settling down with a human instead of continuing to fight for his cause and make up for his 10 years of inactivity? Giving Erik an OC daughter JUST to kill her 2 seconds later rather than focus on his fatherhood story with Peter? Erik and Ororo siding with Apocalypse to destroy the whole world? Hank turning on Charles when he alone stood by Charles post-beach divorce all those years? Raven being ungrateful to Charles for creating a better world for mutants? Trying to convince us that Charles was somehow in love with Moira and Erik was somehow in love with Raven? The X-Men throwing Charles out of his own house?? WHAT IS THIS?????
Frankly I don’t get why the writers tried (and failed) to give us more Jean and Scott and Ororo when we got plenty of them in the other movies and we know thanks to the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past that Charles will still eventually recruit them. Jean and Scott’s very presence at the end of that film shows that the sight of Logan’s memories of Jean’s original fate prompted Charles to NOT repeat his other self’s mistakes and instead use a better approach to help Jean that enabled her to keep the Phoenix under control and not hurt Scott. That’s all we need to know about them in the new timeline. We don’t need to see Charles messing up yet again when it comes to Jean when that ruins a huge layer of the meaning and impact of DOFP’s ending.
James McAvoy himself pointed out how unnecessary it felt to recycle characters from the original trilogy when the X-Men in the comics are full of plenty of other characters that could’ve been introduced in a DOFP sequel instead. He’s absolutely right.
But here’s what I really think: if any sequels to DOFP just HAD to be made, they shouldn’t have tried to stuff in even more characters. If they HAD to include another old character we’d seen before, it should’ve been Kurt Wagner and Kurt Wagner only. Why? Because he’s Raven & Azazel’s son. And this would only add to the parenthood theme already present through Erik & Peter, and Charles & his students; add a new dimension to Raven as a character as we explore how she feels about being a mother, and what happened that caused her to be separated from her child; and add a new dimension to Hank as we explore how he feels about potentially being a parental figure to Kurt as a result of following his heart toward Raven.
The sequel(s) should’ve focused on developing the relationships that actually had been established/hinted at, and those that would naturally branch as a result:
Erik & Peter as father and son
Raven & Kurt as mother and son
Charles’ parental relationship with his young students
Charles & Erik getting back together
Hank & Raven getting back together
Hank dealing with being Kurt’s possible stepfather
Charles & Raven reconciling as siblings once again
Charles & Peter as stepfather and stepson
Charles & Kurt as uncle and nephew
Alex seeing all of this and being reminded of his bad relationship with his own parents that led him to get locked up before Charles and Erik found him, emphasizing Charles’ place in his life as his true “father,” and foreshadowing Scott by revealing he’s not in touch with his family (meaning he doesn’t know he has a much-younger brother)
Erik bonding with Kurt and making Kurt comfortable through being the only other native German speaker in the group
Erik & Hank dealing with their rocky post-DOFP relationship; Hank giving Erik a proper calling out for sending Charles into such a depression for a decade and for trying to kill Raven
Erik bonding with Charles’ other students and slowly realizing there is a place for him at the school
(Logan may or may not work as a character in such a sequel. But whether he has a big or small role, it must be acknowledged that Raven, not Stryker, saved him from the Potomac at the end of DOFP. So now he is on a different path, and is NOT Weapon X. Either he’s still at the mansion or went his own way with the open possibility of returning; I think the latter makes more sense since he’s such a loner and considering he wouldn’t remember the events of DOFP, he’d be pretty overwhelmed. Plus his explained absence would allow space for the film(s) to focus more on the other characters.)
Regardless, any villain(s) of those hypothetical sequels should’ve been the kind of antagonist(s) whose threat inevitably brought those aforementioned characters together and, in the process, fleshed out those relationships.
Also, no stupid 10-year time jumps between every movie. Keep it to 5-7 years after DOFP, at the most.
Think of the emotional impact that would bring:
Charles & Raven dealing with the fact that she chose not to come to him for help when she became pregnant
Hank & Raven discussing Raven’s history with Azazel and both of them admitting they went to great lengths to try to get over each other but nothing worked
Raven exploring motherhood and her feelings about either having abandoned Kurt as a baby or accidentally losing him, and Hank supporting her in this
Erik exploring his newfound fatherhood, and Charles supporting him in this
Peter’s feelings toward his dad for being absent from his life for so long and also for being a terrorist
Kurt’s feelings toward his mom for being absent for so long, and possibly for intentionally leaving him
Peter & Kurt becoming besties and bonding over being super-fast travelers who have spent too many years not knowing one or both parents
Hank wishing things had been different with Raven and that Kurt could’ve been his son and thinking about stepping into a stepfather role for Kurt
Erik & Peter perhaps getting stranded/separated from the rest of the group and forced to bond while trying to find their way back
Erik saving Peter’s life in battle, cementing their new bond
Hank fully embracing his Beast form (mutant and proud) in battle while protecting Raven and Kurt
Raven, Hank & Kurt as a badass blue family
Erik finally deflecting a bullet successfully to save Charles
Charles & Erik fighting side by side once again and realizing they’re better together than apart
Erik & Hank managing to find some common ground as they both have been unexpectedly thrown into fatherhood (see, no need for female fridging!)
Erik coming up with Quicksilver as Peter’s superhero name, at least getting the chance to name his son in this way
Basically the whole group becoming a big family
Perhaps closing with a flash forward a few years: Erik & Raven are now teachers at the school; young Scott arrives at the school and meets Alex for the first time; Charles & Erik hear about young Jean and head out to meet her; Hank & Raven manage to discover Logan’s location and head out to bring him back to the mansion - tying into the finale of DOFP
Those are just a few things that could’ve, and should’ve, been prioritized in a sequel to DOFP.

My reactions while reading New Mutants #26 (1985)
Emma Frost absolutely wrecking Empath is a peak moment. "Manuel Alfonso Rodrigo de la Rocha" Emma Frost was so pissed off she used his whole ass name cause he was playing around and fucking shit up. Then he got cocky and got his ass handed to him, as one should.
At least Xavier realizes and admits he fucked and abused his position of power with Gabrielle.
"A telepath can play god, you've no idea how tempting that is. I can change thoughts, twist memories, destroy a personality--erase it utterly--and recreate it any way I choose." - Charles Xavier, New Mutants #26 (1985) (this quote goes hard and should be referenced more if it isn't referenced enough already)
Moira and Rahne's relationship is tugging my heartstrings.
Also all these psi-words, we've got
Mindspeak, Psiprobe (Psi Probe), Psi-Talents, Psiwall (Psi-wall), Psilink (okay like half of these words need a hyphen between them- Psi-Link looks so much more pleasing to my eyes)
Skipping ahead to New Mutants #28
Love how everyone except Xavier (the damn telepath) is getting bad vibes from Jack Wayne, like yeah the racist douche who called Dani "Hiawatha" might be bad, and then Rahne is literally like "Mummy, he smells evil" to Moira about Jack Wayne. And the fact that everyone is like "this guy who the Professor's only known for like a day is totally his pal, friend, buddy, pal, chump."
Magneto's getting his heart broken in the Bermuda Triangle, as one does.
Oh my- lmao Douglas Ramsey saved the day by quoting a Star Trek episode, if that isn't the sweetest (and nerdy-ist) thing ever! He's adorable.
"Y'know, there's this classic Star Trek episode, where the captain's been kidnapped and his crew are trying to rescue him, only their weapons have no effect, even at full power. Thing is, the phasers worked all along, it's just that the villains, who were telepaths, wouldn't let the crew see that." - Doug Ramsey, New Mutants (1983) #28
And like sureeee he could had shortened it down and just said the wall is fake / another illusion but cmon this quote rocks.
The issue ends on such a hopeful note that I truly want to believe in Charles' promises and words but they sound almost cruel now knowing how he failed so hard at just being there for David and then later on further mistreatment.

Why Not Watch Some Movies Set in 2025?
Another new year has just begun, and I love to start it with a look back to how some people years ago envisioned this specific year to be (just like last year). So, I'll share with you my list of movies set in the year of 2025, based on this gorgeous Wikipedia list.
Of course, some of the movies listed there don't provide much of a vision, because they're set just a few years in the future. So, I'll focus on movies that are at least ten years old, reducing my Get Ready For '25 watchlist to 11 entries. Future me will edit this post, adding a quick review to each film after I've watched it. So, let's have a look at the movies, after the cut.
Endgame (Original title: Bronx Lotta Finale). The oldest entry in the list comes from 1983, and it shows us a run-of-the-mill post-apocalyptic New York. Seemingly, some nuclear war has happened (around 1990, as a clever Wikipedia writer deduces based on the technology shown in the film), leaving a wasteland filled with scavengers and telepathic mutants. Oh, and hunters and gladiators who fight to death for a TV show called Endgame. A Boy And His Dog meets The Running Man, as it seems. One could start worse, I guess, though the writer/director worked under a pseudonym for this, which I admit is not the best of omens. PS: I usually look at places like Youtube and Dailymotion if someone uploaded some of the older flicks, and on this lil quest I among others found a German dubbed version with Hungarian voice-over of this originally Italian flick. So if you happen to understand Hungarian (I don't), have fun with this truly pan-european edition! Wow. I admit that this flick was a better start than I anticipated. It's still not great, but the first third is very entertaining, with some nicely choreographed fights. Very wrestling-esque, very sweet. However, then all of a sudden the whole gladiator fight TV show stuff ends, and instead we get some "Bring these guys to this place" plot instead. Entertaining The Running Man ripoff becomes less entertaining Mad Max 2 ripoff. 5 out of 10 points. Oh, and I solved the riddle of the director's pseudonym: He usually made smut films, so I guess he did not want to confuse his smut film fans by putting his smut film persona into the credits of this relatively non-smut production.
Future Hunters. A movie from 1986, and yet another post-apocalyptic world. Some rebel group search for the Spear of Destiny, which allows them to travel back in time. So, I'm afraid most of the film will not happen in 2025, but 39 years earlier, where the Spear has to be reunited with its shaft (the Shaft of Destiny, I guess?) to break its curse. Or so. Raiders of the Lost Ark seems to meet Terminator, here. And we even have Robert Patrick in one of his first leading roles, five years before becoming a real Terminator. I am indeed disappointed by how little a role the year 2025 plays. The Guy From The Future even dies within the first ten minutes, and afterwards it's The Adventures of I-Wanna-Be-an-Anthropologist-One-Day And Her Boyfriend Who Will Later Play The T-1000. Poor female protagonist hardly passes the Sexy Lamp Test – The plot needs her exactly one (1) time, and this is in fact the number an actual lamp is needed for the plot, too! I admit, though, that the final third of this wild ride is a bit entertaining. Still, a movie that makes you rethink your new year's traditions. 3 out of 10 points.
Futuresport. This one is from 1998, and it was made directly for TV. The eponymous sport of the year 2025 is a mix of basketball, baseball and hockey that uses hoverboards and rollerblades, and it is used as a less lethal alternative for gang warfare. Specifically, this sport shall be used to decide who will rule over the Hawaiian Islands. When looking at this synopsis, I can't stop thinking about one of my favourite movies, the 1975 sci-fi classic Rollerball. Rollerball is set in the year of 2018, so maybe I can spin me some head canon that has Futuresport developing from Rollerball. We'll see. Nevermind that head canon dream of mine, this has nothing in common with Rollerball. It's quite entertaining, though, I'll give it that. Of the 2025 visions so far, this one is the first to show a bit of imagination, with Borg camera operators and President Chelsea. Nice. And even a Beyond Belief moment. I liked movies for less. 6 out of 10 points.
Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision. A 2003 direct-to-video sequel to the Jean-Claude Van Damme flick of 1994. Timecop part one was set in 2004, and 21 years later, in the sequel, some guy is sent to Berlin of the past. To kill Hitler. Oh my. This could be quite the ride. I think I watched part one when I was young, but I can't remember much. So maybe this year is a good opportunity for a rewatch of this Van Damme flick - though I don't think it will be needed to understand part two. The double feature DVD box is cheap to get, so we'll see. Part one is indeed not needed to understand part two. But one scene in part one makes part two quite hilarious, so I don't regret watching both. Due to quite some mangling with the timeline, however, there's not much to learn about the year of 2025. Except that we have tazers that can fry someone's brain. And that Tesla Cybertrucks kinda exist for more than 20 years already. Quite the dystopia. Oh, and at one point they indicate that all the time crimes have their court hearings and judgements before a Time Cop is sent back in time to in fact arrest the convict. Which makes sense. They're time travelers, they can get back and grab the guy whenever they want. Why not get all the the paperwork done beforehand? It still is at best a mildly entertaining flick, that most of the time looks like an okay-ish TV episode. 5 out of 10 points.
Negadon, the Monster from Mars. A 2005 animated kaiju short film from Japan, wherein a mars mission brings some monster back to earth. Which of course has to be fought with some huge robot. Sounds okay, and we're talking about 25 minutes to spend. So why not. Aww. That one was quite lovely. I mean, the character animations were straight from the Uncanny Valley, and the story was pure cliché. But it has these clumsy indie production vibes that you don't get to see very often these days. Plus, we learn that in this version of 2025 we went to the mars to start terraforming it. With nuclear weapons that melt the poles. Get nuked, Mars! 6 out of 10 points.
Repo Men. A 2010 film that shows us a 2025 where bio-mechanical organs are rented to people in need. If they can't afford the organs any more, well, the repossession is quite bloody. So basically it's 2008's Repo! The Genetic Opera, but without the cool singing. I watched this movie when it was in cinemas, and it was okayish. So, time for a rewatch. Well. Obviously the story is a bit too optimistic regarding the 2025 state of bioengineering. On the other hand, a huge and expensive organ retrieval system is so stupid that any current supermarket's self-service checkout would easily outsmart it. Oh. And I totally forgot that this flick copies not only Repo! The Genetic Opera, but also Terry Gilliam's marvellous Brazil. If this is done deliberately, though, then it's not done well, unfortunately. Which is a terrible pity. And it's even more of a pity how Repo Men starts as a razor-sharp satire that takes cutthroat capitalism word for word, and ends as a run of-the-mill action flick whose ending betrays the biting social commentary of the exposition. 6 out of 10 points. Well, at least the Repo Men DVD has some nice extras.
Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City. Some Japanese superhero flick from 2010, of course it's a sequel to a film called Zebraman, from 2004, wherein a teacher starts to fight crime in the costume of his childhood TV hero. The sequel is set 15 years after part one (so yes, Zebraman 2 is produced in the year that Zebraman 1 is set in), and Tokyo is renamed to Zebra City and now has a "Zebra Time", a daily period of five minutes where all crime is legal, but presumed criminals will be attacked by the "Zebra Police". This could be hilarious, The Purge on speed (before the first part of The Purge even existed!), but I'll keep my expectations low. And I'll try to watch part one first, because Zebraman 2 seems to use a lot of its characters.
Pacific Rim. A 2013 instant classic. In 2025, giant kaijus must be fought with giant mechas (just as in Negadon; see above). Gosh, I love this one, but spouse hasn't seen it yet. And is highly sceptical. But when if not this year should one give this a try, right?
Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Four guys are sent ten years into the future by the eponymous bathing device, to find someone who tried to kill one of them. I absolutely did not like the first part, so I really feel tempted to skip this.
Mountains May Depart. A 2015 Chinese drama spanning a time from 1999 to 2025. The synopsis is full of love-triangles and family drama, so I don't suspect much of a vision of the future. Plus, it seems to be rather hard to get, so maybe I'll skip this one, too.
Ten Years. Also from 2015, this movie from Hong Kong speculates about what the semi-autonomous Hong Kong will be in ten years from then, with human rights and freedoms gradually diminishing as the influence of the Chinese government increases. I'm very curious about this one!

Magneto was right and it's not funny
It is very sad actually.
//SPOILERS Deadpool and Wolverine
In X-Men 2000 Erik and Charles have this dialogue going on:
Erik: Doesn't it ever wake you up in the middle of the night? The feeling that someday they will pass that foolish law or one just like it and come for you and your children?
Charles: It does indeed.
Erik: What do you do when you wake up to that?
Charles: I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school looking for trouble.
Every single time Charles appears he pushes this idea that there's always hope and not all people are as evil as the ones in 1940s.
But the true is that every single movie proves Charles wrong.
For example, Days of Future Past is all about mutant genocide. And even tho in the past they stopped it from happening, every movie comes to the same point of some laws to potentially limit mutants' rights.
From what I've seen at this point going chronologically (even tho this order might be controvercial):
First Class - 1962 - fear towards mutants and the attempt to completely vipe this one Cuba beach to kill all known mutants at the moment;
Days of Future Past - 1973 - political heat about mutants and first mutant-killer machines;
Apocalypse - 1983 - on a lower scale but Erik's family gets killed just because people fear him (shows us apparent society views);
Dark Phoenix - 1991 - very unstable peace and then new political heat about mutants;
X-Men - 2000 - (even tho it's alternate reality) new laws about mutants are about to get passed;
X2 X-Men United - 2003 - attack planned by Striker caused political heat again and a very devastating one. Watching Bobby's parents say "have you tried to not be a mutant" is actually painful;
Days of Future Past - 2023 - complete mutant genocide;
Deadpool and Wolverine - 2024 - (really not sure which timeline is this) ALL the X-Men got killed and Logan couldn't help them, it is stated that "humans came" so we know it wasn't other mutants' job.
And these are only the ones I remember properly (read: rewatched recently).
So with all of this information I came to the conclusion that in the x men universe mutants, unfortunately, will never live in peace.

I know you just said you don't know who Magik is, but honestly you would love Magik. She's the younger sister of Colossus who spent eight years in hell learning magic from an alternate-future Storm and the Devil, only to come back to Earth to find time hadn't passed here at all. She's cool cause she combines her mutant ability (making portals to teleport around) with her magic ability (creating a big fuck off sword) to fight dudes. She joins the new mutants and is in love with Kitty Pryde (I know she's not canonically gay because of course she isn't, but it is what it is). You can read all about her in the 4 issue Magik miniseries from 1983!
I really never got into x-men, I always found they had way too much complicated history for me to hop on board. This is why I liked Ms Marvel and Miles Morales, who had far less history to them when I got into marvel comics.
I gotta go back to the 1980s to understand who Magik is? whoof....
