And that time she went to train under Boba Fett so that she could kill Jacen in Luke’s stead. And also because the Jedi Order finally recognizing that she should have been a made a Master years ago, was almost the LAST thing that happened in the Legends continuity. Heavily implied that her husband would have eventually become Emperor (but a good one) if the continuity had been allowed to go on.

Darth Vader attended his class graduation and I only find this funny because Han became his son-in-law.

Shifty is a delight. I love how baffled and stressed he makes his new friends. I'd love if he met "Dirty Ford" and the rest of the canon crew because I think he'd also make them baffled and stressed (except the stressed is mostly just Dipper seeing this guy who says he's his alternate dimension cousin, an alternate version of the shapeshifter that tried to kill him, his sister, and his friends).

Shifty's just having a great time. His alternate tried to murder his not-cousins. Fascinating. Is this more evidence that nurture has more to do with the morality of shapeshifters, or do shapeshifters work differently in this dimension? Maybe he can track down alternate Marcy, Darcy, and Jon and ask.

Dirty Ford is feeling retroactive guilt about Shifty being sentient. Like he definitely heard Cat Ford mention that but he did not process that until confronted with Cat Shifty.

Mabel's chill and excited about this Shifty. Sure, his alternate scared her pretty bad but he's just a silly guy like Grunkle Ford. He comes from a world where Grunkle Stan turns into a cute little cat. She needs to know all the alternate family tea.

Stan's like that's a bit weird, but he did punch a pterodactyl to save a pig and triangle to save the world, so alternate shapeshifting nibling is just, sure why not. Although he wishes he would stop telling the kids so much about how his alternate self got cursed to become a cat every time he steals (lame). He's worried this might give the kids (Mabel) ideas about turning him into a cat.

Inflicting cat dimension shifty on most other dimensions is like this honestly. Shifty doesn't make it out of the bunker in most cases, but cat Shifty doesn't hold it against his alternate family, because that's not him. He's not frozen in a bunker, and while he might feel bad for the other guy, he's living life just fine.

Which just makes everyone feel more guilty about the whole thing. Shiftys contemplating the differences between nature vs nurture, and how fascinating it is that his alternate self maybe almost killed his alternate parents and cousins. Meanwhile Fords going :( did I freeze a kid? Would my shifty be like this if I gave him a chance? Is it too late? (The answer to that last one is yes, too late to have his shifty be anything like cat shifty).

Mabel starts out uncomfortable, but she warms up pretty fast. Cat shiftys right after all! He is a different person then the one who almost killed her! He's also weird and funny like her grunkle! He's sharing all the fun stories about his family with her! How come her grunkle Stan can't be a cat :(

Dipper spends the entire time trailing him and watching every move suspiciously. He's a shapeshifter! They're evil! C!Shifty just shrugs. Maybe shapeshifters are evil here? He doesn't know! Eventually C!Shifty would win him over with his crazy lore drops. What does he mean he has four parents? Who's Carla? There's a coven in town? Why were you fighting dinosaurs? Dipper would get so lost trying to figure anything out about him and forget to be scared.

Stan is unaffected, except he would rather this guy stop telling everyone about his alternate self. That guy's lame, turns into a cat and snuggles people? Stan wouldn't be caught dead doing that. Ever. He needs his family to stop throwing puppy dog eyes his way about it. It's not happening.

Did some redesign mock-ups for Ec-4o.verse Cross, Fresh, and Error!

These guys didn't really *need* redesigns but I was having a ball with Trech (Ec-4o!Fresh) and gave him Arcade Carpet designs and decided I needed to redesign some others too! (Check below the cut for Old Designs, Lore, and a Stupid Screenshot from my pal @/Neonsix67)

So OLD DESIGNS:

So, old art, yucky, whatever. We know the drill lmao- but because Ec-4o.verse is such an ongoing project these guys have been through a bunch of redesigns. Regrettably, me from 2 years ago was unaware of Layering and Shape Language, so they look kinda gross.

Cross' design has consistently been my favorite I think, just because he was a later addition and so had a bunch of my newer ideas integrated. They all have their flaws tho (Cross was too lean and got thrown between Baby and Grown Guy too often in my art. Error uhhh... yeesh. When I say I couldn't draw him, I meant it. I never knew what to do with his wires and I kept putting him in armor? Fresh just wasn't fleshed out enough. He was that SparkleDog of my verse.)

Also: I wanted Fresh to be top-heavy, like, big baggy round clothes on his upper half then lil guy legs. Cross I wanted to be more flat and strict, hense his clothes being all Tube-shaped. Then Error needed Triangle vibes. His old design was too Rectangle for me. The exposed limbs are mostly just for me because I love a-symmetry and also I don't keep a consistent clothing style, so I like to keep a visually interesting element (like a limb) exposed for clarity's sake when I draw them in new poses later.

LORE:

Cross: A robot (Ecto) who was initially a Guard-Model ecto. He was one of the last to be turned over when the government was rallying citizens to donate their bots to fight in the war. He was remodeled and supplied with a special task by his Programmer: Protect THE FILES at all costs. He's rather small for a guard-bot, but makes up for it with his agility and sheer stubbornness. Blue finds him heavily damaged and on low battery in an old lab, guarding a room that was sealed tight. His Old design utilized Shields (scarf detached to become them) but his new design is much more focused on quick bursts of offense. If he gets you first, then you're no longer a threat.

Error: an Ecto who was one of the first bots handed over. He was a former data storage bot that worked at a small library. As one of the first data-bots to come in, he was immediately modified and put to work alongside other Ectos to compile all of the nation's history into their data banks. Error was particularly receptive to overloads of data, so he continued to be modified and made into the prime data-bank. When the war started, he was eventually hidden away and sealed in an air-tight room. Eventually Cross was sent to guard the door. They were eachother's only company for... years? Error isn't fond of touch or tampering with hid systems, as everything he knows is barely abd haphazardly stored on unsafe files. Each Crash he endures takes more and more of his own personal data away, and he refuses to lose any more.

Fresh (Trech): A Parasite that was created by Sci to repair living beings in the same way that an Ecto can auto-repair itself. Fresh is actually a liquid that, when placed in contact with a wounded/dying person, it can invade their systems and stop all forms of bleeding/dusting. Fresh wasn't supposed to be sentient, and was meant to be scrapped, but he ended up being vital in stopping the war. In turn, Sci granted him freedom. Fresh can inhabit humans, monsters, and Ectos, but prefers skeleton monsters. He often defies the logic of his world, but what Fresh doesn't? Blue meets him far into the story after he's unraveled a lot of mysteries. Fresh just drops by after hearing rumors of Blue's repair work, and is met by less-than-warm reception from Error and Geno.

Other:

I was trying to save the image and my phone was bugging out, so I sent it to Neon. Safe to say she has peak comedic timing 😌💖 (For the record, we are both adults, and also my parents are aware I draw utmv stuff, so she had to make the threat actually a threat lmao---) I also love Chilchuck talking with the Operator. We are the dynamic duo frfr.

Y'know as much as I love the new lore drops of Bill's backstory after so long and the new works and headcanons and aus made with Bill's parents, I am kinda sad that it essentially dethrones @pengychan 's flat dreams fic from what a lot of people probably accepted as his backstory, even if just fanon. If only for the sole purpose that Liam wouldn't exist.

So in my personal au, I like to think that Liam does exist and still is Bill's brother, but their roles would be reversed (ages can stay the same or swap, either would work for different dynamics). Bill would be the treated irregular child. Liam would be the 'right' one. Just an average triangle in Euclydia, with normal eyes not made to see the stars. I think he'd still read to Bill, still spend whatever time he can with him. Not because it's all he can really do constrained, but because of his own love and care for his brother, accepting even if he doesn't exactly understand him. Liam would be happy for the most part, healthy, and just living his best life as he can.

And Liam would be purple.

I really hope this ages well 😭

When it comes to his personal lore (as in origin story) I believe non of it will be true; he'll dramatize every detail he's physically able to, and he won't even try masking it. We'll be able to see his lies, but the truth will come out to be real clear when we'll read between lines (as in "liberated my dimension" means " Arson is my middle name and everyone that once knew me can confirm that I love burning people). The codes and ciphers Bill will leave hanging around the pages will contain heavier lore drops, but really decontextualized, and will be mostly gossip.

He will definitely give us some juicy lore about all these "higher" beings (?) that the Gravity Falls cast has encountered throughout the series, like Time Baby and Jheselbraum. Maybe he'll introduce us to someone new characters! But the thing about unreliable narrators is that you never know where the lies end and where the truth starts, so it'll mostly be a competition on who he trash-talks about more hahaha.

Of course, OBVIOUSLY, the Axolotl will be there. Not only because of his apparent connection with Bill, but the way Alex has portrayed them both in the promos he's posted on Instagram, makes me believe there's absolutely some deep things going on between those two. Personally, I feel like he sees the Axolotl as some kind of hypocrite and coward. He's envious the Axolotl is respected while Bill is plainly feared and "betrayed" constantly. There will be a bunch of pages dedicated to this guy - half of them just insulting him, the other half explaining how they met (while insulting him, of course). He'll make sure to let us know he's infinitely better than the Axolotl, in all aspects possible.

The Henchmaniacs! They will be there! Tho, I don't know if this book is supposed to be set before or after the events of Gravity Falls. Depending on what part of the timeline the book covers, there'll be more or fewer detriments directed at them. He'll explain the nobodies they were before joining him and how they came to him, dragging on the ground, searching for divine enlightment and loyal servitude. And he, as benevolent as he is, gave them the blessing of being his henchmen. If the book is located after the events of Gravity Falls, this will be flooded with irony (or maybe he's totally oblivious and doesn't actually care they made him a statue saying he's the worst).

Weird anatomical and physiological facts about himself! He knows what we crave, and he'll give it to us. We'll regret ever thinking of wanting to know how his eye-mouth-tongue operates! This will be extensively graphical, and there will be illustrations and schematics of it! I hope!

He'll explain to us what the hell he meant when he said he eats his own exoskeleton! (WE'LL KNOW WHAT'S THERE BEHIND HIS EYE???? IS HE SOME KIND OF MR KRABS BLOB OF FAT AND MEAT UNDERNEATH HIS very jazzy triangle OUTFIT?)

He'll take credit for an innumerable quantity of cults and important historical events he claims to have influenced, participated in, or fully provoked! Ford gave us the info he had about Bill's global influence, and Bill's going to expand on it and give us his side of the story! (Maybe he'll explain more stories like the one document Ford had that talked about "Billius Cipherus"?)

He'll tell us how he got his powers cause he ain't convincing anybody saying he just popped into the Universe like that. Sweet lore. He'll give us clues he had a sibling (<- I hope). He'll justify killing his family and explain the atrocities they commited against him. Maybe there really is some deep trauma buried in there? We gonna see tear marks when (if) he talks bout his family? Man, I WISH

Enchants, curses, summonings and all that stuff. They will be there.

Bonnie, The Bennett’s, Black Witches and The Magical Negro Trope & Mammy Trope - TVD META

Bonnie and the Bennett’s have very rich lore. It’s not glorified by the fandom unless it’s by Bonnie fans themselves. That’s the way it’s always been, no one paying any mind or deeper thought to Bonnie/and the Bennett’s outside of her fans. This isn't a new thing but I want to highlight this once again because I don’t think fans understand there is more than one negative trope rooted in Bonnie, the Bennett’s and black witches only.

Before we get into anything heavy let’s have some key-terms here: Let’s define a magical negro trope: where a black character appears in a plot solely to help a white character and then vanishes. Now what a mammy is: a black woman engaged to take care of white children or as a servant to a white family.

Everything in the series can be tied back to a Bennett witch. Let’s list a few things the immortality spell, immortals, the other side, the cure, supernatural hunters, creating rings to preserve life, the Gilbert device but only a Bennett witch can enchant it, prison worlds, the traveler's curse, vampires, hybrids etc…You name it without the Bennett’s creation there would be nothing. You would think because of this the Bennett’s would be respected in the narrative and by fans. Wrong. Some of these women aren’t even given actual names. Everyone can have a Bennett witch at their disposal but they won’t be respected either. Bennett blood is essential to certain spells. A loophole.

Let’s talk about Ayana. The Mikaelson’s were only able to become vampires because Esther stole Ayana’s spell. It is forgotten that Esther/Mikael begged Ayana to perform the spell first. The Mikaelson’s as humans trusted Ayana. Rebekah was in shock that a necklace from Ayana burned her. While Ayana remained unnamed this time while the story was told. Rebekah was talking about Ayana. Ayana was known as a healer and given Esther’s praises they were close. The series doesn’t show us why Ayana should value the Mikaelson’s but we do understand why Esther, her husband and children valued her. That infamous necklace that Rebekah loved belonged to Ayana. We don’t know about Ayana’s life outside of being a healer. We don’t know her marital status, how many children she could’ve possibly had and anything tied to her after the plot has used her up. One would think with how close Ayana was to the Mikaelson’s, they’d have some respect or acknowledge Bonnie but that never happens.

We see this in how Emily was enslaved to Katherine. Julie may have labeled Emily a handmaiden but we knew what that meant. Emily only had one request from Damon that he watch and protect the Bennett line which he never did. The black witches never ask much of anyone in the plot or ever given the chance too. Yet when a request is made no one ever meets said request for them. This form of slavery repeats again through Lucy. She claimed Katherine saved her life therefore she is indebted to her for however long she needs. Sheila has her hand in aiding the Gemini Coven, Beatrice helped with the Sirens.

There are other witches that are black who serve a purpose to aid in many and leave such as: Gloria, The Martin’s, Bree, Aja and her coven just to name a few. Friends of the main characters or enemies but quickly there and dropped. Originally due to all witches appearing Black fans believed they were all Bennett’s. Julie has no answer for why all witches that is until they weren’t. Remember witches were servants of nature. The Mikaelson’s popularity, Gemini Coven and other witches. Fills the space that Black witches were once in. Notice a pattern here?

Qetsiyah’s plot line should’ve centered on how she created immortality, the cure, and the other side. But Qetsiyah’s existence revolves around demanding and enforcing continuous revenge on Silas and Amara. Tying her into another repeated love triangle in the franchise. May I add that she and Bonnie are the only women to have been betrayed by a partner and criticized for their reactions. There’s nothing wrong when a man wants and craves power but Qetsiyah is considered the worst of them all. Here’s an amazing video that details Qetsiyah’s writing too. Please review.

Lastly, The Bonnie of it all:

Bonnie’s a loyal, powerful and brave woman. She doesn’t let anything happen to her friends if she can stop it. She cares for them. That kind of loyalty can be beautiful but equally harmful when Bonnie has no regard to her own feelings. She continues to give for everyone and her friends rarely return the favor. Bonnie’s never thanked or rewarded for being there. The friendships stop being equal very early. Her traumas aren’t valuable in the plot. We don’t know what Bonnie’s home looked like. If Bonnie does grieve it isn’t shown on screen. Her family life is limited, while Liz and Alaric aren’t main characters. They have their own plotlines. It is revealed that Abby’s reasonings for abandoning her is for Elena’s benefit. Abby is killed in a coin toss and transitioned. Caroline gets to have a good friend moment while Bonnie isn’t have any feelings towards her mother for abandoning her after. Rudy isn’t seen in the plot longterm and when he appears in season 5 he’s killed in front of Bonnie. She grieves this in silence while grieving her own death that she didn’t make aware to her friends to avoid inconveniencing them. The plot makes it clear if the white counterparts aren’t happy then Bonnie will never either. Elena, Caroline got happier endings while Bonnie’s job was completed. Bonnie never once got to call out how her friends can disregard her, she feeds into them and they grow while sucking the life out of her. In the end, Bonnie went back to Africa. Never any reference to her life from there.

Another thing Bonnie isn’t shown to be feminine. Her best friends go on dates, go to dances, dress up and receive compliments. Caroline or Elena has ever given Bonnie a compliment that aided in her beauty. We don’t know Bonnie’s ambitions or fears. But you are aware when Bonnie wants to save her best friend. Thoughts on Bonnie’s relationships and ships is for the next meta though.

White witches did follow the servitude of others. They were still given the privilege of agency that black witches were never going to have. Witches like Dahlia existed, and although she had one goal she had more personality than others.

When you have people like the TVD writers that continue to push harmful stereotypes there’s always going to fans who listen and continue to perpetuate those stereotypes. The writers had no value for Black women nor do the fans. They don’t care about how black women or people of color are treated in fiction or the media simply because their favorites get to reap all the benefits. That tweet is just one tip of the iceberg, there’s plenty more from Bonnie’s relationships, and storylines.

rewatching mcd (currently at mcd s2-ep70ish) and im really dissapointed how s2 lacks the lord conflicts that s1 had. sure mcd has the all mightly and all beloved love triangle, but id argue a huge part of the series identity is the political side of being a lord and navigating the system. seeing the different villages, seeing the different lords, the different problems was geuinenly my favourite part of s1 and it just SUCKS how the later half of s2 is so disconnected.

i loved meeting new lords, i loved learning more about how the world worked and the lord system, i love how o'khasis being an oppressive military power strong arming other villages into an alliance, because it all tied really well with the cast. we'd have characters from these vilages, we learn lore from them cus they are natives o'khasis gets invaded oh no, theres the wedding as a nice breather yay, but oh no the war of tua'la that gets kicked to the back bench, they adopt a baby, they end up on a new cool island of irene cus magical oooo, oh look lets relocate phoenix drop here ahahahaha disconnected to ru'an and all the other villages and.... man it sucks. honestly i wished we had more arcs like the thieves guild arc of travelling to a new village, because it was legitimately entertaining. the best part was actually going to o'khasis and seeing peoples lives there, seeing the mystical o'khasis from the pov of a civilian. instead of relocating phoenix drop, s2 honestly should've either had the war with tua'la arc (focusing on the consequences of o'khasis getting invaded) or a civil war arc where people are rioting against the lord system because of all of the corruption from s1. i just really miss the political thriller of mcd lol

They didn't need to learn, as "Papa" is lead singer and band/church figurehead, but each has a preferred instrument they like to play: drums for Primo, bass guitar for Secondo, guitar for Terzo, and piano for Copia

Copia has his rats and Secondo has his snakes, but the closest Primo got to a pet was a huge, black, furry "dog" that would only visit him in the gardens after the sun set. Terzo nearly pissed his pants when he saw it for the first time and the ghouls said it was a hellhound, but to Primo that's just Beelzebubba (who eats anything but is particularly fond of the carbonara leftovers from dinner)

Primo smokes weed, not much of a drinker. Copia is the opposite (he greened out during a midnight mass when he was a bishop) and loves red wine. Terzo uses a bowl that looks like a kitty paw and Secondo drinks vodka like water/is very fond of cuban cigars

Primo would have the most insane dad lore. he's the type of guy to casually drop the fact that he got arrested in '78 for running from the cops in a foreign country and pretend like it isn't a big deal

Primo, Secondo, Terzo, and Copia are the names they received when they ascended to cardinal - I think their names would be something like Basilio, Fausto, Antonio, and Remigio

Copia didn't want to get plastic surgery after becoming Papa - Sister Imp. was only able to convince him of it after killing his brothers the others died because he saw too much of them when he looked in the mirror :(

and one more thing about that -> Copia had nothing to do with the killings of the previous Papas. Sister orchestrated it herself and passed it off as something beneficial to the new papacy, which he couldn't stop due to him being a mama's boy

Hey, hey! Sorry for the radio silence lately and lack of gameplay reactions! Life hit me hard last month and I'm just now able to get back into RL. I've replayed Donna's, Cass's, and Dani's route (going through the different paths and all out of curiosity) and I'll continue Angie's route soon! So be on the lookout for the route reactions!

Glad you liked the chapter! And I’m relieved you like the way I’ve written 2012 Donnie - I have only watched about four episodes of the 2012 show, and so I base a lot of his character on the Speed Demon episode. I do not like what they do with his character and the whole love triangle thing, a Donatello deserves much better than what he got. But I’ve been told from other ao3 users and anons here that they actually like 2012 Donnie’s character in my fic a lot, so I hope I’m doing something right lol. Idk. If anyone who has actually watched the show has any pointers feel free to guide me about how I write those boys :)

Of course! This is barely a question because I am all too willing to give a mini info dump or two!

Lore of one of my stories!

Pretty much all the long fics I have written so far have a heavy focus on the reader's soul. Why? I'm not sure myself, I think I just really like the concept of physical souls and how they'd be unique for everyone.

In The Hand We've Been Dealt, Rihanna died because she had a human soul and later, as Korinna, Gaster gave her a monster soul for her new shot at life. Her human soul still exists...suspended in stasis until the barrier is broken but when I get to writing that part of the story, I have special plans for it.

In Have Some Empathy, Dear, the Bad Sans' were all drawn to Minty because she was kind and was able to empathize with the hardships they'd been through. This led to Nightmare rescuing her when her world finally broke down. (Not sure if this is original to me but her soul trait was Empathy, a variant of Kindness.)

In The Nightmare of Apathy, Aylin's soul is a major plot point but there's not a whole ton I can explain without spoiling the first arc. She started out as a Perseverance soul but will things stay that way? (Gonna post chapter 5 in the coming days which might provide more insight.) Let's just say that I'm exploring another possibly unique soul trait.

Now that was probably kinda boring so I will also drop a bit of lore for the Underfell fic that I will eventually get around to posting, I swear!

It takes place in the early 2000's after Monsterkind have been on the surface for at least ten years. Humans don't trust Monsters and so have attempted to create a weapon to defend against them. Crimson (Sans) kidnaps a random woman he found running through the woods in the middle of the night in a blizzard, much to Scar's (Papyrus) dismay. They soon realize they can't kick her out since she has nowhere to go and is fleeing her past. Which leads to a comfy story taking place in the countryside where nothing bad happens! Sorry, I lied, this is angst with a love triangle...

Are the Bad Sans' in The Nightmare of Apathy?

Yes! Not until Arc 2 though. I gotta expand on Nightmare and Aylin's eventual relationship first! Although, someone who I consider to be an honourary member, depending what fics you read of course, is making an appearance starting in the next chapter! Gonna do my best to post it this week!

More context/explanations for the AU I made with @thelightfantastik that I mentioned in a previous incorrect quote. There's no real name for this AU (yet?) so I'm just going to call it the Curse and Ghost AU.

So basically:

-I always JATD as being a world with "soft" magic-Dragons and that being pretty much it-if that makes any sense, but in this AU, full blown "hard" magic exists, like magic curses and ghosts.

-John D'ark, Sir Theodore, and the unnamed woman in Sir Theodore's mysterious portrait all knew each other and eventually got caught in an extremely tangled and painful love triangle.

-Then an invading army is about to take Kippernia.

-John D'ark uses powerful and dangerous magic to destroy them all, but in order to do so, he turns himself into stone, and turns Portrait Woman into stone too, either because a.He's madly in love with Theo and has a "if I can't have you then no one else can either" mentality, or vice versa, with Portrait Woman instead. Or b. something Happened and he was agonizingly furious with them both and wanted to hurt both of them at the same time and take down the invading army in one fell swoop.

-Army is defeated, but D'ark and Portrait Woman are still stone, and Theo is left behind to pick up the pieces.

Here's where things get a little bit tricky.

-In one version of the AU, everyone knows what happened and just decide to not talk about it because, hello? World shatteringly traumatic wartime event involving magic most people don't understand? Best to just let some sleeping dogs lie and silent statues stare. Because the statue is of magical origin, it can't be moved or destroyed. It remains, a constant reminder.

-In another version of the AU, the Castle Wizard uses a spell of his own to wipe everyone's memories of what happened. He possibly even wipes some of Theodore's memories, as per his request, so he's not left shouldering the burden of everything that happened, or the memories of what the man he loved became.

-Then, somehow, D'ark and Portrait Woman get free. My personal interpretation is that a specific frequency on the dragon sword either reverses the spell or breaks the stone. D'ark is back, but far from better than ever. In fact, he's worse than ever, having spent decades frozen in a moment of blinding heartache, obsession and agony and now freshly dropped into a kingdom that has changed immensely. It's time for everyone to reckon with what they thought they could sweep under the rug. (note: in the amnesia version of events, everyone who remembered what happened would also get their memories back when he returned.)

Miscellaneous(?) stuff:

-In a version of events where Jester also dies, then that opens up a whole new can of worms, like Corrupted!D'ark and Ghost!Jester bonding and Ghost!Jester being led down a darker path.

-Also, Theodore sees parallels between D'ark and Jane, and that scares him. Maybe he can remember the exact details of what he's so afraid of, maybe he can't. Regardless, seeing Jane act a little too much like D'ark makes his stomach sink.

-Also I basically just thought of this right now- What if the secret to everything: D'ark, the curse, how to break the spell, was hidden by the Wizard in the one place no one would even know to look: The Book of Dragons created by King Bartok, hidden away? If Jane and Dragon find that book, they find out everything else too. But of course, Theodore-whether he understands why or not-knows that it is imperative that Jane and Dragon do not find that book, so he starts hindering their efforts to learn more dragon lore. This drives a wedge between Jane and her mentor, making her side more with Dragon (an allusion to the whole conflict of Jane needing to choose between the castle and Dragon in Dragonblade.)

Some recent WolQotD's on Twitter got me thinking about Katina's love life (or lack thereof) so here's a lore dump. This will also explain where we stand with the Love Triangle between Katina/G'raha/Urianger now that I've finished Dawntrail.

Contains Dawntrail spoilers for the last zone, you've been warned.

Haurchefant was the first man to ever express an interest in Katina. He was very direct and upfront about his desire to court her, in such a charming and kind way as well, but Katina had never been propositioned before, or even been told she was beautiful by any man that wasn't her father, so in her shock she laughed at him. He took it well, especially when she explained that she's not used to the attention, that it was so sudden, they were still getting to know each other, and she needed more time to consider. And so he was willing to give her all the time she needed... but then it was too late.

Aymeric was less direct, but inviting her to dinner was definitely his way of trying to express an interest. He would have said something that evening had they not been interrupted by the news of Alisaie's injury. But even if he had, Katina was still upset about Haurchefant and would have declined.

G'raha has been enamored with her since they met. But he's kinda awkward about it and Katina is absolutely oblivious to any hints he might have dropped and still sees him only as a best friend and nothing more. If he were to be more direct... she would accept.

Katina started to develop feelings towards Urianger during their time on the First. (The new outfit certainly helped.) She understood why he kept the secrets he did, and forgave him fully, because he was absolutely right... they would have definitely tried to stop G'raha from sacrificing himself if they knew. Her feelings grew when she saw how well he interacted with the Loporrits, and how his guard finally came down when he met with Moenbryda's parents again, but she didn't think too much about how she felt for him because of a lingering thought in the back of her mind: What about Moenbryda? Does he still feel for her?

That question was answered, indirectly, when she arrived in Living Memory. I noticed that the man who lost his engagement ring kinda looked like Urianger. His circumstances even seemed to mirror Urianger and Moenbryda; the man died young and his beloved lived on, and never took another lover, while on the Source Moenbryda was the one to die young, and Urianger....?

Of course, when we see the man again with his beloved... she doesn't resemble Moenbryda at all. Definitely a missed opportunity there I think, so this is where I will make my first real departure from canon.... that man was Urianger's shard, and the woman was Moenbryda's shard, and Katina realized this, and that Urianger would be the one to live on and never love another woman. So, Katina has now abandoned any thought of seeking him as a partner.

(Now we just need G'raha to confess. :P )

The fifth fanfic review/recommendation goes to Lemon Drops and Blood Pops by Toki Mirage! Avid blog-followers may recall me mentioning a personal top-five best Albus/Harry stores... yes? Good, this one's included in that ranking.

One of Lemon Drops' best features takes two commonly annoying HP fanfic tropes and does them right: namely creature!Harry and snarky!Harry. The Harry of this story is a super-competent assassin, half-vampire, and expert killer who accidentally ports himself into an alternate dimension, and must deal with the fallout once he realizes exactly what new time and place he's ended up in.

Similar to Ephemeral Time, Harry lands in the Grindelwald era and must deal with the budding darkness in Tom Riddle as well as his own unfinished business with Dumbledore—but unlike ET, we see Harry spend a lot longer establishing his new identity in this world, with a unique job I have yet to see redone in any other fanfic.

Although I mentioned Harry is snarky, it's not in the indy!Harry way that has so many experienced writers rolling their eyes. Harry has been hardened by his experiences and is more jaded than in canon, but he is still kind and cares for those he considers his 'family', and he's also quick to take initiative and seek change—all traits that appeal to Albus. His vampirism is also a running theme in the fic without feeling overdone or just thrown in to make Harry "special" or "different".

Albus is pretty similar in some ways to canon, but because we are seeing him from an adult's perspective we get some fun additional insight on his feelings and behavior from both canon and the fanfic itself.

(Oh, and did I mention there's some very nice Harry/Albus, er, physical development in this fanfic~? *wink*)

Lemon Pops also just... has everything. Staff infighting. Vampire covens. Found family. Broomstick lore. Humor that's really really funny. Love triangles. The friggin' mafia. You name it, it's there.

So yeah. If you haven't already stumbled upon this gem, consider me the airhorn at your ear begging you in capslock to just... read this fanfic. Just read it.

i couldn’t sleep last night i literally just laid in bed tryna sleep til my alarms went off. it was dehumanizing. naturally, when they did go off a i started sobbing but ofc i didn’t quit bc im too pussy. i just wanna stick it out til i find a new job, i feel like it’s the mature and responsible thing to do. everyone’s just telling me to drop work, get a student loan, and just go to school. but i wanna be financially stable and independent of my parents before i do that. i have other priorities to be honest. i want to move out, into moncton first. but if that’s not financially feasible i at least want to have my license. anyway, i like my plan i can stick it out a while longer w ms crazy (my mother). shes a d1 narcissist who wants to control every aspect of my life btwww. anyway
