The sweet smell of baked goods constantly floated through the Polar Tang ever since you joined, not that anyone's ever complained. Whoever said the way to a man's heart was through his stomach, they weren't lying - especially when it came to Shachi. 

It didn't take the redhead long to catch your attention, always happy to be the guinea pig for your goodies, which, in turn, caused you to spend the most time with him. It didn't bother you in the slightest. 

It got to the point where you would gush to Ikkaku every night as you both settled in your small, shared room, your best friend shaking her head every time with the reply of, “Just tell him!” 

“Absolutely NOT,” You'd snap back, horror flashing across your face before bursting into genuine laughter with her. 

One beautiful Sunday in April, the only place you would be found was in the kitchen. From the moment you woke til the sun set, you worked tirelessly on a new recipe you were praying would come to fruition. 

Taking a bite of your newest creation, you frowned after a few chews, giving a heavy sigh through your nose as you stared down at the pastry. 

“What's got you down, jelly bean?” 

You jump in surprise, turning around to see Shachi sitting at the island that separated the kitchen from the eating area. He had a playful frown on his face, almost in a mocking manner as he chuckled out, 

“Jeez girl! What's got your panties in a twist?” 

He snickers as you whip your small, half bitten donut ball at him, catching it in his hand before popping into his mouth as you reply, 

“I'm just… frustrated. I've been working on this for days and I just…. Can't figure out-” 

“What it's missing?” 

You huff at him with an unimpressed look at him cutting you off, though you nod slightly and continue, 

“It's getting me worked up, I won't lie. I just, ugh, I don't know.” 

You give a heavy shrug before leaning against the counter with your arms crossed, your head tilting back as you give an irritated glare to the metal ceiling. 

“... want some help?” 

Your head raises so you could stare at him instead, eyes flickering over his shaded face to find any indication of joking. You then gave another heavy sigh before nodding again, waving to your bowl of batter on the counter beside you. 

He quickly sat up and came around the island, humming and haa-ing to himself as he looked over everything on the counter. 

“Are you dead set on the vanilla?” 

You raise a curious eyebrow at him though he doesn't reply, instead grabbing a small vial of caramel extract, giving a small grin before opening the lid and tipping it into the batter. You stiffened at his actions, watching him with a hawk-eyed stare as he moved it into the batter before making a small ball and dropping it into the pot of oil on the stove. 

He carefully used the slotted spoon to turn the ball over, finally taking it out when it was golden brown. He spooned it into the bowl on the counter containing sugar and cinnamon, rolling it around for a few seconds before taking it out and holding it out to you. 

“Shachi, it's still hot! Put it down, you goof!” 

He laughed and shook his head slightly before taking a bite, his sharp teeth tearing into the donut ball easily. He hissed as steam immediately rose, his free hand coming up to rub at the tip of his nose before offering you the other piece. 

You cupped a hand under his, ready to catch the ball, but he didn't drop it, only holding it closer to your face with a slightly cheeky smirk. You rolled your eyes in return, a playful grin on your own lips as you took the rest of the ball into your mouth. 

You couldn't see it, but his eyes widened behind his shades, his breath catching in his throat as your tongue brushed against his fingers tips, lapping the cinnamon sugar off them gently. You haa-ed out the steam, quickly chewing the donut, and you couldn't stop the wide grin that overcame your face as the sweet tasted danced over your tastebuds. 

“Shachi! That was genius!” 

The redhead grinned in return, rubbing the back of his head with a shaky laugh before he replied,

“Ah, it was nothing. I just feel like I've watched you enough to know what would work well?” 

You rested a hand over your heart as you gave a soft, “Aww, Shachi…” before you pulled him into a tight hug. He clung to you in return, his heart pounding in his chest as your perfume fell over his senses. Squeezing his eyes shut, he tried to breathe you in as much as possible, etching the feel of your body against his into memory almost desperately. 

When you finally pulled away, you pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, grinning up at him as you commented, 

“I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks Shachi.” 

He couldn't reply, his words dying in his throat as the sound of his heart thudding descended him. He stared down at you near breathlessly, his grip on your waist tightening slightly as he leaned in slightly. 

Your cheeks burned at the movement, your eyes flickering from his shaded eyes to his lips a few times before you met him halfway, your eyes finally sliding shut as your lips met his. 

He pulled you right to him, chest to chest as one of his hands went to your hair, his palm cradling the back of your head as he deepened the kiss, his tongue brushing against your lips, begging for entrance. You gave it with a soft, muffled moan, your fingers tightening around his boiler suit as if to keep him as close as possible. 

When you finally parted to breathe, you stared each other down before he finally broke the silence with, 

“... So, that totally means you're my girlfriend now, right?”

You blinked a few times before bursting into laughter, grinning up at him as you responded, 

“I guess so! I also guess this means it's your birthday gift.” 

He choked at that, his own cheeks burning as he jokingly moaned out, 

“Aww, you didn't get me a real gift?” 

You laughed and shook your head, one hand moving to cup his cheek as you brushed the tip of your nose against his lovingly as you joked back,

“You don't need anything. Just knowing you have me now should be more than enough!” 

Shachi pouted slightly before leaning in to press a few soft kisses to your lips, holding you to him again for a bit before finally letting you go. He gently pushed loose hair from your face behind your ear before asking, 

“Did you want me to help you with this?” 

You looked over your shoulder at your project for a moment before humming, turning back to him with a small grin as you commented, 

“Honestly, I think I'd have much more fun doing this with you. I'd love your help.”

He grins in response before peppering your face in a few sweet kisses, thanking whatever gods existed above that you loved him just as much as he loved you. 

“Best birthday ever,” he breathed, catching your lips in one more loving kiss.

ok hear me out, you guys have a garden at tweeks house. it's y'alls relaxing garden whenever you guys are stressed from school. and it smells like coffee cause tweeks parents grow their own coffee beans their!! you guys built this garden by yourselves. it has a mini water fountain and everything. even a lil bench. you guys mostly planted flowers there.

sneaking out to the park late at night is a thing you guys do once a week. at first tweek was skeptical because you could get kidnapped. but after a few times going he now enjoys it. you guys play hide and seek cops and robbers tag and much more. it's so chaotic too because it's at night you can't see anything. lot's of screaming is heard and the neighbors once called the cops on you guys because. they thought a murder was happening💀. you guys ran away whenever you saw blue and red lights.

on those lazy days you and tweek go to craigs house and set up his movie projector outside in his backyard. you guys lay on his trampoline with blankets and munch on snacks. ghibli movies are %100 being watched. but it's all fun and games until CRAIG starts jumping. oh nah you and tweek always be flying like 300 feet into the air. so you and tweek always get craig back with a double jump. craig finally got to visit outer space that night😍.

making coffee drinks at 3am since you guys have such a bad sleep schedule!! since tweek has the keys to his parents shop. you guys sneak in and, that's when it gets real fun and messy. you guys either make the most delicious heaven sent frappuccino's on earth. OR THE MOST DISGUESTING COFFE DRINK THAT WOULD KILL A WHOLE POPULATION. like, "no tweek i aint gonna try your coffee mayo topped with celery🙄". "i'll give you $5 bucks" "ok bet" tweek really couldn't believe you drank that. he was so disappointed in you too. you drank all that just for 5 dollars tf?? even though he was disappointed in you, he recorded you drinking it. he was laughing his ass off the whole time too omfg. the next day he was so worried because he thought you died😭😭😭. in reality you got a new and exclusive virus😍.

doing your skincare for him. i feel like sometimes his anxiety makes him break out sometimes. so he comes over to your house to ask you for skin advice and for you to do his skincare! you were so excited when he asked you that like you were screaming and jumping!! tweek didn't really get the hype though🤨. first you started off with a cleanser, then a face mask. he didn't like the consistency off the face mask because it was slimey. he was like "what am i frog🙄🙄" "yes" after that you used some serums and moisturizers then you dried him off with a fan. bro was so tired and about to fall asleep until he saw you grab more boxes. "oh jesus christ what now" "nose strips and pimple patches duh🙄" tweek actually felt nice and relaxed after you were done. it became it weekly thing for you to do his skincare. but after a while he finally does it on his own everyday. he now has the most clearest skin!! thanks you to you ofc<3

so yk how tweek has his buttons all messed up on his shirt. sometimes they pop out due to his twitches so you always sew them back on just for him. but you've been sewing his buttons on for awhile and he quicky grasps the steps very easily. after a bit of practice he learned to sew his own buttons. anyways he wanted to learn a little bit more advanced things then just sewing buttons. so you taught him more! after a couple months he made so many things. like gloves, plushies, bags and much more. but his favorite thing to do is emborder his jeans and shirts. once you guys bought each other jeans and spent the whole night and morning embroidering little things and doodles about each other. i just think this is a cute little niche thing that he does. :)

baking coffee cupcakes with him is for sure a thing you guys do. he has a huge sweet tooth! i feel like older tweek is not trying to drink as much coffee since it's been damaging him since he was a kid😭. so he starts somewhere small. you suggest coffee cupcakes since he has a sweet tooth and he loves the idea. it still has coffee but not as much. he actually created the cupcake recipe and it turned out so good!! so don't be surprised when it's 4am and you get a message from tweek that says, "lets go to walmart and get stuff for coffee cupcakes." you say yes ofc because his cupcakes are so delicious!! once you guys get back from walmart. you guys put on your matching aprons and then start baking together. tweek is the cupcake expert here so you follow his instructions. whenever you mix and measure things tweek has to watch you because. one time you put the whole bottle of vanilla extract because you were talking to him and you didn't even notice. once you guys bit into those cupcakes...... you spat them back out cause they were so nasty. this time the cupcakes turned out delicious because tweek was monitoring you😭.

so i hc that craig loves space as much as stripe so going to the space museum. are definitely things that you guys love to do and always do. you guys always go once a month if not more!! whenever you guys to the space museum, you never fail to smile at craigs lit up face when he enters🤭. his favorite exhibit is the big shuttle that takes up the whole place. the first time you guys were there you snuck onto the shuttle and toured it. it was all going until you guys got caught by security. you tried to ditch them but y'all still got caught. you both flipped off security whenever they escorted you out🙄. his 2nd favorite exhibit is the star room. it's a projector that shows stars on the ceilings and all the planets are hanging in there. there's also old love music playing in the background. this exhibit is for couples but he don't care. every time it's empty you guys pull up and start slow dancing. only for a minute because every time you see craigs serious face you start laughing and he does too. you guys can't take anything seriously😭 .

you and craig always have photoshoots with your guinea pigs. ik this sounds childish but, you and craigs love for guinea pigs are unmatched😔🙌. craig always goes to your house for the photoshoots. some examples that you've guys done are astronauts, race car drivers, and barbie and ken! and these photoshoots turn out so good im not even kidding. the accessories and clothes are hand made by y'all ofc. and the backgrounds are painted by craig. you always take the photos. craig does too sometimes but they turn out blurry. "i can take the photos this time if you want" "NO ITS OK I'LL TAKE THEM" (craig always prints out the photos and tapes it to his walls.) once stripe and piggy are done you let them run around in their own play area. THESE ARE SPOILED GUINEA PIGS. they have a bunch of toys, mazes that they can go through and much more. you and craig got jobs just so you can support your children🙌. once their tired from playing around you guys always make them gourmet food. craig also bought them little tables and chairs so they can eat😭. you guys get the best lettuce and herbs for your guinea pigs. and yk they be eating good since they're a lil chunky. you and craig always chop up all the veggies and plate them up. in the end you guys are very responsible and loving parents.

whenever it's late at night and the stars are beautiful expect a message from craig saying: "MEET ME ON KROOFTOP RN STAQRS LOOOK PRETYYW😭" you meet up with craig so he can read astronomy books to you. BUT only when the stars are extra pretty. obviously craig owns all the astronomy books so he brings that and a flashlight! you on the other hand, you bring blankets and snacks! craig always reads while you just sit and listen. you never offer to read just so you can hear his voice more🤭. "astronyisaphenonminathathathasbeen-" "WOAH OWAH SLOW DOWN" you say. craig says, "it's not my fault im a smarter intellectual and faster reader than you🤓🤓🤓" (with sarcasm) you guys also look for constellations too! craigs house is the best place for constellation sighting. "isn't that the big chipper or something like that?" "no you dumbass it's the big dipper🙄" you always stay up on his roof top until the dawn of morning. so it's a bonus that you get to see the sunrise too. "the sunrise is so much more prettier than those stars" "get out of my house"

craig has a thing for lego's so he insists on inviting you whenever whenever the lego set he got was easy enough for you to build. if the set is advanced then he'll stick to building it himself and here's why. it was your first time building a lego set with craig. it was that big star wars starship model. it was all finished and craig was so proud he could cry. ohhh but he did cry whenever you dropped the starship model on the ground. Under the harsh midday sun, it's easy to think gardening is purely a daytime activity, but plants don't put down tools when we do. With careful planning it's easy to bring your garden to life at night, adding extra dimensions for nocturnal pollinators. Sophie shows us that gardens can be enjoyed day in and day out.

Night Flowering Plants

Plants pollinated by butterflies and bees are at their brightest and most fragrant during the day, because that’s when their pollinators are most active. But not all plants are pollinated by bees and butterflies. Some plants are pollinated by nocturnal creatures like moths, bats and beetles, so these plants need to look and smell their best in the dark.

For pollinators that can't see well in the dark, they can be attracted by fragrance. Night-scented plants respond to the temperature drop in the evening. It triggers a chemical change in the petals where the volatile compounds become highly concentrated, and therefore more fragrant.

Some plants don't put on perfume but do respond to the fading of the light. In the plant world, it's called the nyctinastic rhythm, which is a bit like a circadian rhythm for plants. Typically, night flowering plants have white flowers because they have the best chance of reflecting light at night.

Madagascar Jasmine | Stephanotis floribunda *

This evergreen climber produces bunches of perfumed, white flowers over glossy, green foliage. It’s traditionally used in wedding bouquets and is reputed to have the best perfume of any climber. It's cold and frost tender and does best in a protected position next to a wall for radiant heat. In frosty areas, keep it undercover in a polyhouse or indoors. Stephanotis is related to Hoya and is non-toxic to pets so it can be a valuable addition to your indoor collection.

Chilean Jasmine | Mandevilla Iaxa *

This woody-stemmed climber has exquisite flowers with a sweet-vanilla scent that is most prominent in the evenings. Unlike other Mandevilla, which are sub-tropical plants, this one is cold and frost tolerant, even in the Adelaide Hills. The fresh, green leaves are deciduous in colder climates, but it will be semi-evergreen in milder climates.

Chinese Star Jasmine | Trachelospermum jasminoides *

This climber certainly packs a fragrant punch with its small star-shaped flowers, hence its name. Sophie’s grows this together with the Chilean Jasmine over the front doorway, and they are both members of the frangipani family. Star Jasmine are very versatile and can be grown over a topiary frame, on a trellis, as a ground cover, or even indoors if it has access to enough light.

New Guinea Bean | Lagenaria siceraria

It's not just ornamentals that are in the night scene. The New Guinea bean is in the bottle gourd family and produce long fruits with white flesh, and a flavour between zucchini and cucumber. Their white flowers open at night and emit a sweet fragrance to attract their nighttime pollinator, the hawk moth. This plant not only looks and smells good - it tastes good, too.

Cape Jasmine | Gardenia jasminoides ‘Florida’ *

Gardenias love acidic soils. This cultivar has beautifully scented semi-double blooms that appear in warmer months. Plant this in the centre of the pot to enjoy its height.

Star Jasmine | Trachelospermum asiaticum ‘Flat Mat’ *

This groundcover is perfect for a pot and can be planted towards the front, so it trails over the sides. It has dark green foliage and a crisp white star-shaped flower with a heavenly perfume.

Sweet Alice | Lobularia maritima

Perfect for edges, borders and trailing over pots, Alyssum or Sweet Alice gets its name for its wonderful fragrance. This plant is an annual though should self-seed in its pot.

Beelzebub and Lucifer are mine, Beans is my little sister’s, but I steal him often so he can hang out with his new buddies.

Beans lives alone cause my sister doesn’t want more pigs after him, so I make sure he gets playtime during the day, and rest time during the night. (Some time to not have babies crawling all over him cause he isn’t quite used to it.)

Guinea pigs are super social, but the last pig I had absolutely hated other pigs so Beans hasn’t had many opportunities to hang out with other pigs. Really glad that the babies like him!

Hey, my piggos are getting more attention than anything I've ever done on here, so I thought I'd give you all A Story about my sweet babies, the Gotham Pigs!

Why guinea pigs? I am very allergic to cats, and my husband doesn't like dogs. I had a parrot for five years who I lost very suddenly to an unexpected medical issue; my husband and the parrot never got along. He had rats for a while, which were the sweetest, but when 2-3 years was just too short of a lifespan for me to think about after mourning my bird who was supposed to be a pet for a lifetime.

So: piggens.

These sweethearts are Harley (left) and Ivy (right, with legge). We adopted them in June 2016, after they had been born into a foster home the previous November.

I called them my Halloween pigs. Harley's name was inspired by her checkerboard face, and also established our naming pattern

Ivy was our boss, we theorized she was the older sister based on how she was clearly in charge of that house. She was a beggar and a weirdo, she had chronic UTIs and was just smart enough not to get her head stuck in stuff (something Harley did not share with her).

We lost Ivy at 5.5 years old, suddenly to a tumor on her uterus. Harley started showing signs of mopiness and depression almost immediately - she and Ivy had been a bonded pair, together for her whole life. So, we looked around and found someone to keep Harley company.

Enter: Selena, a one year old who'd been surrendered pregnant, had her litter, and was also in the market for a new friend (both her pups were boys).

Selena was much more aggressively FRIENDS??? than Harley was used to, and bonding them took some time. But we got there in the end.

Harley passed away in January this year, she was 7 and venerable and a sweet old lady and I still miss her very much.

Selena is a very social creature and we knew we wouldn't be able to leave her alone for long. The DM I sent the foster home: "Hi, I have a three year old guinea pig who just lost her cagemate. She's very social and also a jerk. Can you help?"

They could indeed. Meet: Talia.

We are still introducing them, but it's going well.

This book is worth buying for the series name alone. Weenie is the dog, Frank (a cat) is his best friend, Beans (a guinea pig) is his other friend, and Bob takes care of them all. Bob made a meatloaf that he left on the counter and that Weenie simply must have. First the friends have to work together to get on the counter, and then they work together to make Bob a new meatloaf. It's zany fun that's beautifully illustrated by Bye.

An ant delivers a notice to Sir Ladybug that the book he checked out is due at sunset. Turns out it's in his friend Sterling's shell (he's a snail). They set off with Pell, a roly-poly, to find the library and return the book, which is a biography of a dung beetle. But there are a lot of bugs that need help along the way, and then three bookworms who want to eat the book. The best part by far is the library, which is a bit of a surprise.

Paige loves facts. When her friends Penn and Karla say the Evergreen Street Music School is haunted, Page makes a list of evidence and starts investigating to determine the facts. My favorite thing about the book: there are even a few pages on how facts need evidence, or they're just guesses, and another page that explains what to do when new evidence shows up. It reminds me of classic Scooby-Doo episodes (back when the supernatural stuff was found to be some sour adult with an agenda) but with more of a library-friendly focus.

Petting zoo animals at London Pride event die after Ontario farm receives anonymous anti-2SLGBTQ+ email

London police are investigating the deaths of two animals and the illness of a third after they were on display at a petting zoo for children, part of a weekend Pride event in the southwestern Ontario city.

Two rodents — a Patagonian cavy named Bean and Cashew the guinea pig — died, and Apollo the goat is being monitored for symptoms at the farm, said Bethany Tout, owner of Little Hobby Hill Farm, an animal sanctuary and therapeutic farm based in Salford.

"I'm really hoping that it's not true that someone did this. I really hate to think that someone would do this intentionally," Tout told CBC News.

A post-mortem on the guinea pig will be conducted in Guelph to determine cause of death, Tout said.

"That can take a couple of days, but I am hoping it's quick so we can have answers."

Despite uncertainty over how the animals died, Phelan said, it's unsettling, especially at a time when London police say hate crimes against members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are on the rise.

Character ask: The Oompa-Loompas

Favorite thing about them: In the books and the 2005 film, I like the wit, cleverness, and dark humor of their songs. Despite their appearance of being a "primitive" tribe, their songs are sophisticated, poetic, and wickedly snarky and funny.

Of course this gets lost in the 1971 film with their much simpler moralizing song that replaces the lengthy songs from the book. But it's a catchy tune all the same, and their weird appearance in this version is unforgettable, so I still enjoy their presence even without the original dark wit.

Least favorite thing about them: Their original racist incarnation in the first edition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where they were a black Pygmy people from Africa. It's a relief that both the 1971 film and later, revised editions of the book changed their home country from Africa to Loompaland, and that the film makes them a fantastical orange-skinned, green-haired species, while the revised book makes them white with long golden-brown hair. (Even though neither of those changes make their portrayal fully unproblematic – more on that below.) The 2005 film might be a bit of a regression since, as played by Deep Roy, they once again look like humans of color; but at least their extremely small size and odd voices, and the fact that they all look identical, make it clear that they are fantastical beings, not human.

Three things have in common with them:

*I love music.

*I'm good at making sweet treats.

*I'm fairly short.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I don't like raw cacao beans.

*I wouldn't make such nasty moralizing remarks about common childhood vices.

*I've never worked in a chocolate factory.

Favorite line: Basically all of their song lyrics.

Random headcanon: In all their incarnations, both the weirder versions and the more human-seeming versions, they're actually a supernatural species, similar to fairies or elves. Their work has an element of magic to it, which aids Wonka's creation of so many fantastical, seemingly-impossible treats, and their musical and poetic abilities are magical too, which is why they can improvise clever songs about whatever happens on the spot. (Unless you believe the 2005 film's hints that they wrote the songs in advance because Wonka had the four bratty kids' "accidents" all planned out.)

Unpopular opinion: I don't view them as Wonka's slaves. They work for him by choice and they love him. Yes, their portrayal is problematic, in ways that were especially terrible in the book's original text where they were black Africans. An exotic tribe from a foreign land, "imported" by a white businessman to labor in his factory, whom he pays in food instead of money, and whom he uses as guinea pigs to test his new products, which sometimes do them bodily harm. Even when they're not portrayed as black, it's still problematic. But Wonka does pay them wages, even if they are in cacao beans, and I don't buy the headcanon that he really did enslave them and is lying when he says they came willingly to work for him. Wonka is already a dark-edged, morally ambiguous figure without our viewing him as a literal slaver.

First and foremost, their iconic "Oompa-Loompa" song from the 1971 film, in all its iterations.

Their more elaborate musical numbers from the 2005 film are less memorable as songs, but they get points for using Dahl's original lyrics, and for the way each one uses a different musical style.
