Pspsps let me drop some dumb headcanons to some of our ships
Kome x Tomi Grey
-For one I feel Kome would often stop by when she feels sick of her dorm leader, maybe read a book in Octavinelle, play chess with someone online and as she noticed Tomi she for sure already got kinda a small heartbeat that increased… she is a girl that falls quickly
-Anyone that insults her or is mean to her likely gets a small punch, Kome does not hesitate to put people in their place
-however given she is often very sick it may also good for Tomi to watch out if Kome coughs too much if she needs some medication or so she can lean onto her, maybe Carry her
Zelda x April
-April and Zelda often spend time exchanging over Fashion, April showing her flower language or April complaining about her big brother Julian
-The first time she gave herself vulnerable and showed her scars I imagine Zelda quickly make her feel comforted, might even tickle those scars to make her laugh again, something that made April far less insecure
-They could be the type to have matching styles combined with flowers accessoires
-At first April being a Demon worried that she might never get a pretty girlfriend so being slowly assured of her eye, her looks and her heritage… she will slowly grow more open
Juvia x Mellow
-I feel there was at least one moment where Mellow transformed into a monster ran into the woods and she just comforted him to calm down with words and actions… putting a hand on his head before his third eye before her turned back calmed down and cried
-He has tons of sketches of her smiling but too shy to share them so as she came by his room once seeings some of them she that day was even more happier
-Mellow tries his hardest to stand up for her and get more confident but most of the time she is just sweet to him and bursts up like a tomato and hides his face
RAAAH FUMI IM SO SORRY FOR GETTING TO THIS SO LATE BUT HOPE THESE DOODLES MAKE UP FOR IT!!
Kome x Tomi-Grey
Tumblr media
The image of Tomi carrying Kome when she’s feeling sick is SO heartwarming. As much as she hates seeing her sickness get to her, she’s more than happy to take care of someone. And Kome falling for her is too cute, Tomi-Grey gets uncharacteristically shy around her HSJSHS
Zelda x April
Tumblr media
okay 1: i had so much fun drawing them, they’re SO cute. Zelda would do everything she can to make April know how pretty and loved she is! Zelda puts extra flowers in her hair so that she can pick em out and gently put them in April’s hair. Zelda would use her new knowledge of flower language from April for her botany hobby and surprise April with her favorite flowers! Zelda loves all of April’s scars and does everything in her power to comfort April. RAHH THEY’RE SO CUTE AND IN LOVE‼️‼️‼️
Juvia x Mellow
Tumblr media
I have SUCH a soft spot for them. They never fail to make me smile. Juvia’s heart would break seeing Mellow crying over transforming but she would assure him that she loves him no matter what!! She loves her little monster bf!! I can see these two as “S..she asked for no pickles!! please..” and Juvia just laughs and holds onto his arm bcs he’s so cute 😭😭😭 Which reminds me!! i think Juvia has a habit of holding onto Mellow’s arm a lot! like a sign of affection that they’re both fully comfortable with. Juvia loves all of Mellow’s sketches of her and uh,,don’t tell anyone but,,Juvia definitely has sketches of Mellow too 😈

Take it on the Run

Gratsu Week 2020 Prompt: “That idiot! Running off on his own again” Pairing: Gray x Natsu
AO3
They stood in the wreckage of their guildhall, still not able to believe that the Master had disbanded the guild. The silence was overwhelming as they all stared at the remains. It had been their home for so long none of them had any idea of what to do or where to go. Or even who they might be without it.
“He’s gone!”
Gray turned his head sharply at Lucy’s cries, his fists clenching at his sides as their meaning sunk in. It didn’t take much to figure out who she was talking about. Gray had already noticed that the Flame Brain wasn’t there, and while strange, he’d thought that he was still holed away in his house, caught up in his grief over Igneel’s death.
That idiot! Running off on his own again.
It’s not like Gray could blame him, he’d thought about doing the same thing, but in the end, he’d decided he’d rather find a distraction to keep him from thoughts of his late father and what had been done to him. Not to mention the strange magic that he had bequeathed him. Gray had only used it a few times, but he had developed a healthy fear of it. The way it made him feel, it wasn’t something he was willing to play with even though he understood that he needed to learn to control it before it had the chance to control him.
While everyone asked Lucy who she was talking about, he peered at Erza, waiting for her reaction. When he received a nod, he immediately took off for his apartment, rushing to get a bag together and go after his idiotic whatever the hell he was to him these days.
That was another source of confusion that he’d been avoiding thinking about for quite a while. Something had changed between them. Gray wasn’t sure when it had happened, or even if it was something the other wanted, but none of that was important now.
Gray couldn’t deny that he felt hurt that Natsu had left Lucy a note instead of him, and maybe it was for that reason that he’d chosen not to stick around to hear the message. Although he supposed it made a sort of sense, Lucy had become very attached to Natsu, and the dragon slayer wouldn’t have wanted to worry her.
Natsu was hurting, and for the first time in his life, the grief was so profound that he couldn’t hide it behind one of his smiles like he always did. It didn’t necessarily surprise him that the dragon slayer had taken off, it was more the fact that he had done so as quickly as he did. That’s the part that worried Gray.
He knew he had to find him before he did something stupid, like try to avenge Igneel by going after Acnologia by himself. Gray refused to lose anyone else that was important to him. But where the hell would he have gone?
The only thing he was sure of was Natsu wouldn’t take transportation, but with Happy being able to fly him and his ability to use fire to speed himself up, he already had a pretty big head start.
Gray finished packing, grabbed the last of his jewels, and left before Juvia could attempt to follow him.
0-0
He had roamed around Fiore for weeks, his worry bubbling inside him with every passing day. Memories of Natsu’s sobs over Igneel’s remains urging him on even though he had no clear trail to follow.
He trained as he walked, at first using only his regular ice magic. Gray molded object after object refamiliarizing himself with his magic as he worked on his focus and his precision. Then he began adding small amounts of his new magic, being careful not to draw too much power just in case he lost control. The combination made his ice more robust, but even using that small amount, Gray could feel that strange darkness probing him, and it scared him.
In his determination to find Natsu, he came up with something he’d never tried before. After much trial and error, he was able to create a pair of wings strong enough to bear his weight. Using everything he remembered from Ur's lessons and the little dynamic Ice-Make Lyon had managed to teach him, he was able to make them fly.
His first flight had been as terrifying as it had been exhilarating. He’d almost crashed countless times as he attempted to learn how to maneuver through air currents, but Gray was no stranger to hard work, and within a day or two, he’d gotten the hang of it.
Don’t do anything stupid, Flame Brain, at least not til I get there.
Flying sped up his efforts considerably, and it was especially helpful around mountainous areas. Gray was now able to travel long distances in one day. Even so, when he finally found Natsu, it was due more to luck than any action on his part.
He’d been flying around at night when he felt an overwhelming source of heat. His wings began to melt, and he had to reinforce them swiftly before he plummeted into the darkness.
Gray swooped down excitedly, determined to find the source when he heard what sounded like a loud explosion followed by inconsolable wails, communicating a sorrow that tugged at his heartstrings.
Searching for a safe spot to land, he discovered a clearing, and as soon as his feet touched the ground, he ran, knowing he’d found the dragon slayer at last. He followed the sound of the cries only to stop in his tracks when he caught his first glimpse of Natsu.
“Gray!” Happy greeted, and the ice mage could hear the relief hiding in that greeting, which could only mean the Exceed was worried, and given what he’d just seen, Gray wasn’t all that surprised.
He muttered a greeting in response, his eyes never leaving Natsu, appraising the changes the last few weeks had wrought. The dragonslayer was filthy, which was to be expected from being on the road for so long, Gray was sure he didn’t look much better.
But it was much more than that. Natsu appeared too thin, making Gray wonder if he’d been eating regularly. His olive eyes, which had always been imbued with the spirit of his determination, now appeared dull and empty.
It was disconcerting and much worse than Gray had anticipated.
“Easy, it’s just me,” Gray kept his voice soft when he noticed that Natsu looked like he was about to bolt. He sat down where he stood, keeping some distance between them.
“What are you doing here? ” Natsu groaned, hiding his head in his hands, but he seemed to be calming down, and Gray took that as a good sign. “I specifically asked to be left alone.”
“Did you? I didn’t exactly stick around to hear your little note,” Gray shrugged, making a valiant effort to sound like it hadn’t bothered him.
Natsu peered up at whatever he heard in Gray’s voice before quickly looking down at his hands, “Gray, I-,” he sighed, “I was going to write you one, but I couldn’t come up with the words I wanted, Lucy was... easier.”
“You didn’t have to leave at all, you dumbass,” Gray pointed out, “We would all have been there for you. ”
“I didn’t want anyone to see me like this,” Natsu revealed, and after a moment, admitted, “I didn’t want you to see me like this.”
“Natsu -,” words escaped him. Gray wanted to tell him that he’d been almost sick with worry since the moment he’d realized that Natsu had left, but he understood that wasn’t what the dragon slayer needed from him right then. And in the absence of words, there was only one thing he could think to do. He stood up, approaching Natsu slowly.
“Come here, you big idiot,” Gray grabbed Natsu in a rough embrace, smiling when he felt the dragon slayer relax into him, his arms slowly coming up to return the gesture. “I’m just glad I found you.”
“How did you?” Natsu sounded puzzled, but he didn’t let go of Gray, and the ice mage took that as a win.
“Luck mostly,” Gray answered honestly, gently rubbing circles on Natsu’s back, “and a healthy dose of wanting to kick your ass for leaving in the first place.”
Natsu stiffened at that, and Gray was quick to let go of him. He walked over to his pack and searched for some food he could share with the dragon slayer. Finding some apples, he grabbed a handful along with the last of his jerky and shared them with Natsu and Happy.
Happy didn’t even complain about it not being fish, devouring his apple in one bite, and looking hopefully at Gray for another. Natsu studied his apple for a few minutes before taking a tentative bite and sitting down.
Gray sat next to him, placing the rest of the food on the ground atop Happy’s green kerchief. Natsu needed to eat something more substantial, but this would have to do for now. He’d hunt them down some food once he was sure that Natsu wouldn’t try to take off in his absence. Maybe he could even convince him to do it together like they sometimes did on team jobs.
Natsu continued to eat slowly, something Gray never thought he’d see in his lifetime, taking occasional peeks at Gray.
“I’m not going back,” Natsu said defensively, “at least not yet,” he amended when he saw Gray getting ready to protest.
“I have to get stronger so I can take him out,” Natsu roared, ” I won’t lose to him again!”
“I know, I’m not here to take you back,” Gray assured him, “I’m here for you, and, “ he paused, wondering if it was too soon, “because I need your help.”
“My help?” Natsu watched him warily, trying to catch the lie in his words, “What could you possibly want my help with?”
“It wasn’t your fault,” Gray insisted, recognizing the disgust in Natsu’s voice. He knew Natsu would never stop blaming himself for what had happened to Igneel, just like Gray would never forgive himself for not being able to give his father the peace he’d asked for, “there was nothing you could have done, nothing any of us could have done.”
“It’s not fair!” Natsu lamented, punching the ground for emphasis, even as his eyes shone with unshed tears. “He was right there, Gray, and then he was taken from me before I even had a chance to talk to him. And then to find out he’d been inside me all along - I searched all those years! What kind of rotten trick was that?!”
“I don’t know,” Gray answered honestly, “ but even I could see he loved you. I have to imagine it wasn’t an easy decision for him to make.”
He took a chance and reached out for Natsu’s hand, squeezing it firmly and pulling him closer until their knees touched.
“Gray?” Natsu glanced at him in surprise, and Gray had to admit it was unusual for him to be so tactile.
Outside of the occasional fistbump, the only time they ever really touched was during their neverending brawls, but maybe it was time to change that as well, to give a name to whatever it was that was happening between them. If this experience had taught him anything, it was that life was full of curveballs, and you had to hold on to the things that were important to you before they too were taken away.
“I know you think you failed, but we’re going to get stronger, and we’re going to take down that sonofabitch, and E.N.D, and Zeref, and anyone else who gets in our way,” Gray vowed, “but we’re only going to be able to manage that if we work together.”
Gray had made a promise to his father, and he intended to keep it, to put an end to all the suffering his family and others like them had suffered at the hands of Zeref’s demons. But he had also made many promises to himself in regards to his Fairy Tail family, and Acnologia had come after them twice now. They couldn’t afford to give him a third chance.
Natsu didn’t respond to his words right away, weighing them carefully against whatever he’d been planning to do. His gaze shifted from Gray’s face to their joined hands until he managed a smile for the first time since Gray had arrived.
“Together then,” he agreed, and for a brief moment, Gray caught a glimpse of the usual spark in Natsu’s eyes, and it gave him hope that everything would turn out alright.
A/N: Thanks to @oryu404 for their help with the edit. This was somewhat unplanned but I wanted to contribute something! Might turn into a multi later, might not...

Lucy x Juvia, bonding time for Anonymous
Tumblr media
Juvia took a deep breath, preparing herself for what she was about to do. It went against everything she had felt so far… but that was what Fairy Tail was all about, right?
The thought calmed her, and reassuring herself once more that she was doing the right thing, the Water Mage walked steadily over to the table where Lucy Heartfilia and Lisanna Strauss sat laughing and joking. However, the conversation fizzled out as soon as Lucy caught sight of Juvia, a look of mild worry dampening the blonde’s features. It was natural, Juvia supposed, given the way she had treated the Celestial Spirit Mage who’d shown her nothing but kindness; yet it still left an aftertaste like curdled milk.
“Juvia!” Lucy said in a rather strained voice, putting on a smile. “Is this about Gray?”
“Lucy, that’s no way to greet her!” Lisanna chided, the look in her eyes knowing. She tilted her head up to meet Juvia’s, blue locking on blue, and smiled. “Hello, Juvia. I assume Lucy’s wrong?”
Juvia just nodded, her face colouring at both Lucy’s words and Lisanna’s. Lucy had every right to assume what she had, but the way Lisanna had stood up for her… it made her feel as if she belonged.
“See?” Lisanna turned back to Lucy, poking the blonde in the ribs with a reproving look. Lucy flinched and looked apologetically up at Juvia.
“Well!” The Strauss girl clapped her hands and smiled. “I’ll leave you two to it, then.” And she sauntered off, not looking back. Juvia decided to fill Lisanna’s spot after a moment of hesitation, sliding onto the bench besides Lucy.
“Juvia…” she began rather haltingly, unsure how to phrase herself. “Juvia…”
“Yeah?” Lucy looked concerned, reaching out a hand to place over Juvia’s comfortingly. Despite everything… Juvia’s heart warmed at how genuinely kind Lucy was.
“Juvia…” she started again, gathering some confidence. “... wanted to… start over. Juvia’s been despicable to you, especially about Gray-sama - but Juvia understands that it caused her to behave in a truly awful manner towards you. Juvia would like to… instead, start over… by asking for some relationship advice from you, and maybe even - being a friend to you like you have been to me!”
She bowed as she finished her little speech, not daring to look up for fear of being disappointed by Lucy’s expression. Perhaps she’d be angry? Insulted that Juvia would treat her like she had and then come apologising?
Then warm arms pulled her into a tight hug and Juvia felt her entire body relax into Lucy’s hug as the words were whispered into her ear, “Of course I accept your apology. I’ve always considered us friends!”
Juvia didn’t understand the fluttering in her chest at the last sentence, nor the sudden leaden weight in her stomach, but she couldn’t help smiling happily as she pulled away from Lucy.
Lucy put her hands on her hips, looking Juvia up and down with bright interest in her eyes. “All right, then, spill! What sort of relationship advice are you looking for? I’m assuming it’s about Gray?”
Juvia shook her head. “Not really. Just… general advice. Juvia knows that Gray-sama - that Gray-san - is with Natsu-san… and has realised that she prefers women. She is afraid that she hurt Gray-sama with her advances, and wants to be better about it.”
Lucy hummed. “That much is true,” she admitted bluntly. “You did make Gray a bit uncomfortable.”
“A bit is an understatement, Juvia would say,” Juvia whispered, face bright red.
Lucy laughed loudly, slapping Juvia on the back; she wheezed from the harsh contact. “It’s okay. Well… it isn’t, really, but don’t worry about it for now. You want my help in relationships, right? Especially with girls?”
Juvia nodded, still cherry-faced.
Lucy grinned. “Then you came to the right person - I’m decent enough and experienced enough at picking up girls. So… what sort of advice are you looking for?”
“Whatever Lucy-san knows!” Juvia said quickly. For some reason, she didn’t want this to be just one talk…
Lucy looked thoughtful. “That’ll take a while…” she hummed. “A few weeks? You’ll need hands-on advice, after all...”
Juvia’s heart leapt at the prospect of more time with Lucy. “That sounds perfect,” she said eagerly. “When can we start?”
“How about next Monday?” Lucy suggested brightly, unfazed by Juvia’s strange enthusiasm. “I don’t have any Jobs then. We can go shopping for some cute clothes and talk relationships.”
“Great,” Juvia replied happily, barely noticing the way Lucy stared after her as she went to take a Job, or the soft sigh that left the Celestial Spirit Mage’s lips.
--
Monday couldn’t come fast enough. Juvia spent the rest of the week in a blissful haze, so excited for the date she’d planned with Lucy. She was going to have a full day with the beautiful Celestial Spirit Mage all to herself! It would be so much fun.
It never crossed her mind that she was more eager to spend time with Lucy than for the advice she had sought earlier - or that she’d called it a date at all.
After an hour agonising over what to wear, Juvia finally stepped out of her house dressed in a smart blue shirt and dark pants. Biting down on her lip - she’d forgone makeup, deeming it too unnecessary for a simple outing - she made her way to her destination, patting her hair to make sure it was in place and hoping she wasn’t late. As she rounded the corner to the spot they’d agreed to meet, a pretty blonde in overalls came into view, the sight tugging her lips up into a smile.
“Lucy-san!” Juvia called, checking the time and sighing in relief as she saw it was just past the time they’d agreed to meet. Lucy whirled, smiling brightly when she spotted Juvia - a little burst of sunshine exploded in Juvia’s chest at the action, and a skip found its way into her step as she walked towards Lucy.
“Juvia!” Lucy exclaimed, drawing Juvia into a quick hug. She released her, holding her by the shoulders and eyeing her outfit with an appraising look.
“You’ve got style. Casual, yet just formal enough for first dates.” she said with a grin. “I won’t need to do too much work here.”
Juvia’s cheeks reddened, her mind caught on just one word. “D - date?” she stuttered.
Lucy smiled. “We’ll make this a practice date!” she explained cheerfully. “A dry run of sorts. And it’ll be fun, too! I haven’t been out with a friend in ages.”
Practice date… why did the words leave a hole in Juvia’s chest? She ignored it and followed after Lucy, who was already skipping down the street to her favorite shops. It had been so long since she’d just let loose and had fun. All this war and fighting had taken its own toll on Juvia’s worldview - it was nice to have a sheltered, fun outing to clothing stores and restaurants for once.
A few hours later, and Juvia's feet hurt from all the walking, despite the fact that she had chosen to wear flats instead of Lucy’s more impractical heels. They had flitted from shop to shop and bore bags full of clothes and shoes, Lucy explaining what was best to wear on a date and how best to make your move. Juvia was exhausted; yet Lucy was still lively and full of energy, dancing around like a true Fairy.
“Where to next?” she questioned, the late afternoon sunlight hitting her brown eyes. Juvia swallowed, feeling as if she were drowning in the depths of Lucy’s irises. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
Luckily, her stomach rumbled just on cue. Juvia flushed with embarrassment, but mentally thanked it for providing a response and distracting Lucy from the fact that she had been staring into her eyes.
“Ah, you’re hungry!” Lucy winked. “We haven’t eaten yet, have we?”
Juvia shook her head mutely.
Lucy smiled. “I know a great ice-cream place - let’s go! Ice-cream is always romantic for dates!”
“Ice-cream…? For lunch?” Juvia wondered, but Lucy was already dragging her down the street, and her arm would pop out of her socket if she stayed still any longer. So she followed behind the Celestial Spirit Mage, who was practically running, and pretended to herself that she wasn’t silently appreciating the attractive curve of Lucy’s hips.
The ice-cream shop was brightly lit and small, and as the girls stepped in it was as if they had been transported to another world. It was soft, homely and traditional; nothing like the bustling world just outside the rustic wooden door. The comforting smell of vanilla hit Juvia’s nostrils, and she felt almost in a dream as they headed to the counter.
“One butterscotch,” Lucy ordered with a friendly smile - clearly she was a regular, if the kindly look the counter-woman gave her was any indication - “and what would you like, Juvia?”
“Oh!” Juvia stuttered, startled out of her comfortable daze. She flushed and began to peruse the choices. “Well… the… the chocolate cinnamon… seems nice…”
“One of those, too!” Lucy added, giving Juvia a sunny smile. The counter-woman nodded and scooped the ice-cream, handing each to the respective girl - Juvia fumbled for her wallet, but Lucy waved a hand, saying, “My tab! Watch and learn, Juvia: this is how you treat a woman!”
Dear God, it was almost as if they were on a real date!
Juvia could do nothing but weakly protest, yet Lucy coolly rode over her feeble dissent and paid for the food. Once she was done, she grabbed Juvia’s wrist and led her to a table in the corner, next to the window where they could see the cobbled street outside.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” she asked. Juvia nodded.
“Yes. It’s so… warm.”
They both knew what she meant. Lucy smiled at her, and that smile was just as warm (if not warmer) than the entire cafe. Fireworks went off in Juvia’s mind, and all she could think was Lucy’s smile, Lucy’s lips, Lucy’s laugh, Lucy’s eyes. Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.
Her cheeks heated, and to distract herself from her thoughts she took a tentative lick of her dessert-lunch. The ice-cream was delicious - enough to throw Juvia into an entire new utopia.
“This is amazing!” she exclaimed, kitten licks turning into hungry bites. For once, she didn't care that she was making a mess; it was just too good for her to bother.
Lucy watched her with a wistful smile. Juvia, lost in her food-topia, didn’t notice.
Once they were both done (and once Juvia had cleaned herself up) Lucy set her hands on the table, covering Juvia’s own. Her finger brushed Juvia’s knuckles in what was almost a tender caress but not quite - something in Juvia thrilled at the touch.
“I…” Lucy began slowly. Juvia met her eyes, trepidation welling in her chest. “I… Juvia, correct me if I’m wrong, but…”
“But?” Juvia prompted, heart fluttering.
“Do you want this…” Lucy swallowed, colouring. “To be more than… just a practice date?”
Juvia inhaled sharply, shock filling her like ice water.
Do I want this to be more than a practice date?
The question evoked feelings in her that she had been ignoring from the start. The thoughts that Lucy was simply stunning, the excitement to spend time with her rather than get relationship advice, how she had noticed the elegant sway of Lucy’s hips and felt like she would explode whenever the other girl smiled at her… all of it…
Oh, hell, she liked Lucy. She liked Lucy a lot.
And in that instant, she knew her answer. Juvia didn’t think as it tumbled out of her lips - she was done deliberating every decision she made. She was a member of Fairy Tail now: and Fairies always plunged into things headfirst.
“Yes.”
Lucy looked at her for a long moment. Juvia felt afraid; what if she’d moved too fast? What if she’d freaked Lucy out? What if -
Then Lucy was leaning forward, her breath hot and sweet against Juvia’s nose, and she was whispering, “So can we make this a real date and seal it with a kiss?”
Juvia’s breathing grew erratic; it was all she could do to nod enthusiastically. Then soft lips, sweetened by ice-cream, covered her own, and Juvia lost herself in the endless sky that was Lucy Heartfilia. They could have kissed for five seconds or five hours; time didn’t exist between them, not to Juvia at any rate. It felt like forever and yet nothing at all.
When Lucy pulled away, she was red in the face. “I…” she started to stutter. “I…”
Juvia was the one to grin this time. “Does Lucy-san want to be Juvia’s girlfriend?” she offered boldly, a sudden bravery filling her.
Lucy grew redder, and it was her turn to nod mutely. Juvia smiled brightly and took Lucy’s hand in hers, dropping a kiss on it as the blonde had instructed her not hours ago. She didn’t think she would get to test out Lucy’s relationship advice so soon.
But never let it be said that she wasn’t absolutely ecstatic for it.

Re-uploading my old works #2. This is the 2nd fairy tail fanfic I’ve written. Warnings for alcohol
Life was a bitch. It lures you in with hope and false promises only to leave you in a shitty bar moaning over your overdue rent.
“Another one hun?”
Lucy turned her attention from her drink to the bartender. A sweet woman named Mirajane worked the same nights Lucy was dragged to this bar by Natsu. Usually the two would spend hours chatting in-between Mira serving customers, but that wasn’t the case tonight. Tonight, Lucy was full of despair and she didn’t want to take her bitterness out on Mirajane.
“No, I should probably slow down a bit.” Lucy answered while forcing a smile.
“Yes you probably should,” Mira teased. "You’ve only been here for a hour and you're almost near your limit.”
Lucy blushed in embarrassment. Lucy isn’t a heavy drinker, but she did get carried away sometimes. After one particularly bad night, she asked Mira to limit her to no more than 5 drinks in one evening. It was usually rare for her to have more than 3 drinks, and never so early in the night. Mira knew this better than anyone which is why her expression changed from teasing to worried.
“Is everything okay Lucy? I haven’t seen you look this down in months?”
Lucy pushed her drink away while answering, “My landlord raised my rent again. I thought I could still afford it but Natsu’s birthday was around the time it was due, and I ended up spending too much on his gift. I couldn’t pay all of my rent, so I still have to pay a late fee as well as the rest of the amount.”
Mira leaned over the bar to squeeze Lucy’s hand in comfort. “Don’t worry Lucy, I’m sure everything will work out okay.”
She tried to smile back at her, but it came out more of a grimace. “I hope so. I really don’t want to go back to living with Natsu and the guys.” Lucy hopped off the bar stool. “Thanks for the talk Mirajane, but I probably shouldn’t stay so close to the bar. Drowning my worries in alcohol is too expensive. If I keep buying drinks, I’m going to end up homeless.”
“Well you could always get someone else to buy drinks for you.” Mira winked. “There’s plenty of guys and girls here that would buy every bottle off the shelf just to get a chance with you.”
Lucy laughed and waved her goodbye while she left the bar. She walked towards the crowd of swaying bodies hoping to find a head of pink hair, only to be blocked by the sheer number of people. The bar hired a band to play that night. Lucy never heard of them, but they must have been popular to draw such a large crowd. Nevertheless, Lucy looked around for a chair or stool she could stand on to get a better view.
“Lucy? Is that you?”
Lucy froze. A feeling of dread filled her stomach.
“Lucy.”
A soft hand reached out and touched her shoulder. She glanced at the person out of the corner of eye.
When she saw blue hair, she immediately turned away.
“Nope! Sorry, it looks like you got the wrong person.” She tried to walk away but the grip on her shoulder tightened.
“Lulu, I know that’s you.”
Lucy gritted her teeth and turned to face the other woman.
“Don’t call me that!” She hissed. “What do you want Juvia?”
Juvia looked shocked at her outburst before a look of understanding crossed her face. She played with the hem of her dark blue dress before answering. “Lulu isn’t still mad at Juvia, is she?”
Lucy crossed her arms. “It’s Lucy. And no, I’m not mad at you Juvia. Why would you think that?”
“Because you sound angry.” Juvia muttered. She let go of her dress to clasp Lucy’s hand in her own. “If Lucy isn’t angry with Juvia, then can they talk?”
Despite everything, Lucy still felt her heart flutter at the sight of her hand in Juvia’s. The other woman was looking at her with such a hopeful look, one that always caused butterflies to fly in Lucy’s stomach. That’s the same look Juvia had when she asked her out all those years ago.
“Fine, we can talk. But only for a few minutes.”
Juvia smiled and tighten her grip on the hand still clasped in hers. She led the blonde through the crowd and towards the door. Lucy noticed the awed looks people were giving Juvia but shrugged it off. Juvia always got strange looks when they went out.
The two stepped out of the front door and stopped in the parking lot.
“Juvia thinks you look really nice tonight Lucy.”
“Can you stop doing that.” Lucy muttered even though her traitorous cheeks warmed at the compliment.
“Stop doing what?”
“Talking in the 3rd person.”
Juvia tilted her head in confusion. “But you always liked it when I did that. You said it was cute.”
Lucy looked away. “That was 4 years ago Juvia, things change in that amount of time.”
A heavy silence fell before Juvia broke it. “So, you are upset with me.” Her somber tone made this seem more of a statement than a question.
“Well yeah a little.” Lucy let go of the other girl's hand while stepping backwards. “Can you blame me? I haven’t heard from you in 4 years Juvia.”
Juvia bit her lip. “I left you a text message.”
Those words made Lucy’s blood boil. Maybe it was the alcohol, combined with the stress she felt all week because of her landlord, but she felt something inside of her snap. “I loved you Juvia and you left without a word!” Lucy’s voice broke as she choked back tears. “You didn’t even say goodbye. Did our time together mean anything to you?”
“Lucy.” A hand reached out to re-intertwine their fingers. Juvia pulled her closer. “Lucy please look at me. Please!”
When Lucy finally faced her, she was surprised to find tears streaming down the bluenette’s face. “I never meant to hurt you Lulu.”
“Then why did you leave me?” Lucy whispered.
“To find myself.” Juvia whispered back. She tugged on Lucy’s hand again and pulled the other woman closer. She didn’t stop until Lucy was fully in her arms.
Then, she pressed her forehead against the blonde’s and started her story.
“Do you remember how we first met?”
Lucy couldn’t help but smile at the memory. “How could I forget? You thought I was flirting with the guy you liked so you followed me around for an entire week screaming that I was your ‘love rival’.”
Juvia hummed with a blush of embarrassment. “And do you remember what happened after that?”
“Yeah. I got tired of you stalking me, so I invited you over for dinner.”
“I never did ask you why you did that.”
“Because I thought you needed it.” Lucy smiled, getting lost in her memories. “It was the start of our first year at university. Everyone was so nervous and trying to make friends. I thought that maybe you wanted friends too, but you didn’t know how to get them.”
The blush on Juvia’s cheeks darkened. “Lucy, that was the first time anyone had ever done anything nice for me. I never had a friend before, and I never received such kindness from a stranger. We formed a bond that night which caused strange thoughts to irrupt within me. I kept thinking that I wanted to be more like you. Kind, caring, compassionate, beautiful. I thought that if I could be all those things, I would finally be happy. I keep trying to get close to you, so I could learn how to be all those things, but then something within me changed. I started to enjoy spending time with you. And then I started to fall in love with you. I thought that someone like you could never fall for someone like me, but to my surprise, you did.” Juvia paused in her story to let out a joyless smile at the shocked look on Lucy’s face. “I was ecstatic when we started going out. I was so in love with you Lucy, please believe me on that. But then those thoughts start to plague my mind again. I couldn’t understand why such a beautiful and amazing person like you would have feelings for someone like me. I figured it was only a matter of time before you realized you could do better than me. I realized that the only way to better myself would be to go on a soul-searching journey to figure out who I was. I didn’t think I would be gone for so long but obviously I was wrong.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this?” Lucy interrupted. She knew that Juvia struggled with insecurities, but she never imagined that it affected her that much. The realization that her girlfriend was fighting internal battles without Lucy being there to offer support hurt her deeply.
“I didn’t want you to realize how imperfect I was.” It was then that Lucy realized she was crying again. “But it doesn’t matter now. It’s been 4 years Lucy and I’m still the broken mess I was when I left. I haven’t changed or grown at all. I thought leaving would save our relationship but all I did was make you hate me.”
“Juvia! Our relationship was never in danger!” Lucy leaned in close to brush her lips against Juvia’s. “And I could never hate you.”
Juvia froze. “But you’re upset with me!”
“Of course, I’m upset with you! You should have told me about all this.” Lucy wrapped her arms around Juvia’s waist. “I’m not perfect either Juvia. No one is. And we’re still young! I don’t think anyone truly knows who they are at our age. And that’s okay because we have plenty of time to figure it out.” She squeezed their hands. “And we could do that together Juvia. You don’t have to do things on your own anymore.”
“Lucy…” Juvia whispered before pulling her into a tight hug. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry Lucy.”
“I know.” Lucy whispered back.
In that moment, everything surrounding the two disappeared. The parking lot, the music from the bar, even the stress that had been bottling up inside of Lucy vanished. At that moment, nothing existed outside the two women trying to get back what was broken years ago.
“Hold me close tonight; even if it is just for tonight. Please Juvia, I need to feel you.”
“Lulu,” Juvia smiled. “I finally have you back in my arms. I’m never letting you go again.”

Nalu Week Day-7- Smile
“Natsu for the umpteenth time Loke is just my colleague.”
“Yeah still he can grab your waist?”
“He didn’t grab my waist he was just protecting me from then upcoming vehicle.”
“It didn’t seem like so.”
“Oh come on you were there.”
“Yes I was therefore I am saying, stay away from him.”
“He is my partner, Natsu be reasonable.”
“I am being reasonable.”
“That’s it I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”
Saying so Lucy slammed the door, that just meant one thing that Natsu was now supposed to sleep on the sofa.
Natsu sighed heavily, why does he get so jealous? But since Lucy knows she should keep him in mind also. In a fit of anger, he just went straight to sleep but realised in a jiffy that he can’t cuz he was already used to cuddling with Lucy. For a moment he thought about asking for her forgiveness but then realised that it was not the first time and Lucy was very angry so he refrained himself from doing so.
The next morning; he woke up to find that Lucy had already went to work and there was a note for him.
“Going to work, don’t worry won’t cheat on you.”
Which showed him straight away that she was still upset but still she had made breakfast for him as well as put the clothes for his office. Seeing this he just wanted to rush to her and apologise with her in his arms but he realised he was already getting late and need to rush.
X------------X------------X
“Is this the article you came up with?” Minerva pointed to the sheets in front of her with twitching eyes.
“You told me to come up with fresh ideas.”
“Yes I told you so, but the column of ‘delicious dictionary’ is already going on in our magazine and you come up with a story where they are cooking strawberry cake? You this its new?”
“Yeah But..”
“I don’t need your reasons just come up with something that I would approve.”
Minerva returned her sheets and showed her to the door.
Lucy sighed returning to her desk.
“Aww Lu she didn’t approve?”
“Lev I might cry now, this is going for the entire week.”
“Yeah and the deadline is day after tomorrow.”
“What its already here, what should I do now?”
Lucy banged her head on the table she was really on the verge of crying now.
“You would come up with a great idea now cheer up.” Levy consoled her and patted her back.
“Hey Love! Why so upset.” Loke appeared that very time reminding her of yesterday and making it more of a gloomy atmosphere.
“My heart can’t take it baby just smile for me.”
“Sorry Loke she is not in the mood.” Levy answered instead.
“Darling I know that just trying to cheer her up.” Loke said stroking Levy’s cheek while she squatted away his hands.
“Loke she won’t approve, what are we going to write now?”
Lucy wrote stories of multiple genre and Loke did the art for her stories, suddenly Lucy realised that it must be more pressure on him as she was yet to come up with an idea and write it get it approved after which he could make the art and give it in time for publishing, yet here he was trying to cheer her up.
“Ah Loke I am so sorry.” Lucy said with teary eyes.
“Aww baby don’t worry I’ll manage, just focus. I know you can do it.” Loke said and smiled.
In a flash Lucy remembered countless times when Natsu had told her the same thing and his accompanied grin that made her fall for him so many times already, before they finally got married.
Lucy smiled softly at that memory and then picked up her phone to see a picture of them together smiling brightly at the camera, and it lifted her mood a lot and inspired her to write.
“Smiling beach?”
“Yeah the main idea is that, many couples go to beaches to enjoy holidays or to spend some quality time together but sometimes they have bitter moments too and this couple heals them with a smile.”
“Hmm, you wanna say bitter sweet moments on a vacation?”
“Yes, after all everything don’t go as we plan.”
“Makes sense, okay carry on with it. I need the final article by tomorrow evening.”
“Yes mam.”
Lucy returned to her desk with a smile.
“That’s more like it, now tell me what you want me to do?” Loke asked with a knowing smile.
“I want you to draw something like….”
“Arrrrgg there is so much files, when am I going to finish it all?” Natsu asked to nobody in particular and sighed looking at the pile right in front of him.
“Why are you being like this dumbass usually you are more efficient.” Gray implied purposely to ignite his fighting spirit, but alas it fell into deaf ears.
“Natsu-san dad said he need these files analysed by the evening.” Sting came and dumped three mores files in front of him and patted his shoulders sympathetically.
Sting’s dad was the manager of the company, but still for him Natsu was his role model since high school.
“Natsu-san why you are so stressed do these three for now, you can do the rest tomorrow.”
He said with concerned eyes. Natsu looked up at him with blank expression.
“No No I am doing it now.”
“Leave him alone sting he must be missing his wife.” Gray mocked.
“You…”
Before Natsu could fight it out with him for his accurate guess Juvia entered.
“Gray-sama, Juvia cooked this for you.” Saying so she handed him his tiffin and blushed slightly.
“Thank you Juvia.” Gray smiled brightly and side hugged her, kissing the top of her head, Juvia’s entire face turned red.
Now Natsu was missing Lucy a lot more, though this has been a routine since Gray and Juvia married still she would blush and it appears as they are newly-wed.
Natsu giggled at his own thought and pulled out his phone and looked at the picture and suddenly he felt energised, he had to do this fast he can’t have overtime, he was missing Lucy so very much, her smile, her warmth, her entire presence.
“I am getting fired up.”
With that he started working and finished all the priority work dot on time and rushed home. He has to make it up with her.
Lucy was home a bit early, She was in full spirit, the whole day had messed up her head but now she was feeling very clear because she has Natsu and she knows it, he loves her a lot so whatever misunderstanding is formed between them she would clear it all, she would love him by all her heart and would not get angry on trivial stuff she had firmly decided.
She arranged the rooms a bit as Natsu was the one to leave the home last and she could tell he left in a hurry, and started preparing his favourite dish- chilly chicken.
Natsu didn’t know how he should act or basically how Lucy might be feeling right now. From the argument last night, they didn’t get any time to talk with her, because of the work stress he couldn’t call her and didn’t know what can he message so he decided it would be best to clear things out face to face.
But now that he was at front of their home and knew Lucy was home already, he didn’t know how he should face her.
Gray told him to take a bouquet along which he was already planning along with a book and note which he hoped that she would like.
Finally, he knocked timidly but was pleasantly surprised when the door opened and Lucy hugged him tightly.
“Honey you are home.”
Natsu was so happy, he was anxious over nothing, he pulled her inside closed the door and kissed her deeply.
This was what he was missing the whole day. Lucy.
“This is for you.” Natsu presented her with the bouquet on one knee.
“Thank you” Lucy accepted bowing a little, acting like a perfect lady.
She placed it on the table and they sat down on the sofa holding on to each other.
“Natsu I am really sorry.” Lucy said and looked at him with guilty sad eyes which broke his heart a bit, he never wants her to be sad.
“Hey I am sorry, I shouldn’t have reacted like that.”
“But I shouldn’t…”
“Shush! Did you really think I would doubt you, come on I know my wife is so beautiful that anyone can fall for her.” Natsu said looking away.
“Aww Natsu I love you.” Lucy kissed him again.
They discussed all that happened in their workplace that day and laughed at how silly they have been, throughout the day.
Soon Lucy received a draft from Loke, he had made exactly what she had in her mind but yet to be coloured but she was certain it would come out fine.
It was a picture of a girl and a boy looking at the camera while holding a smiling play card over their mouth.
“Isn’t it?”
“Yes.” Lucy simply answered showing the picture on her phone screen, this was something they came up with on their last vacation when they had an argument about whose smile reaches their eyes more without a definite conclusion.
Remembering the beautiful vacation, they smiled at each other and realised it was this smile that can make their day, with the same thought they said together-
“Let’s go on a vacation.”

Emergency (Gruvia and NaLu Fanfic)
Wrote this one-shot for @jfangirld since today is her birthday.
Sorry this is a little late. I hope you've had an amazing day!
Title: Emergency
Pairings: Gruvia/NaLu/Luvia brotp
Summary: Everyone believed that Lucy had been saved by Wendy and Chelia, but the truth was much more complicated than that.
Warning: IMPORTANT!! This story is the prequel of If They Knew, so you gotta read that one first if you want to understand what happens.
Word Count: 2.000
Happy reading, everyone!
                                            ___________
                                         January of X791
Juvia watched the unconscious man below her, relieved that he was breathing normally again. “There you go, my love.”
Gray stirred, but didn’t wake up. She assumed he would remain unconscious for a while after having been knocked out by the leaders of the cult they had come to arrest.
The mission had seemed rather simple when they had taken the flyer a couple days before, but as it turned out these people were expert magic users and they were light on their feet.
They had made defeating Gray look easy, although Juvia knew that the only reason they had done so was because he had been distracted when she was injured.
When she had screamed in pain, he had glanced at her and in that one second they had hit him hard in the head, knocking him out.
To make it even worse, they had started beating his unconscious body, which led Juvia to increase her magic power in order to trap all of them in her water lock.
Thankfully, her plan had worked, thus all the cult members were now scattered across the sunflowers field behind the church where they operated.
Once they were defeated, she had immediately come to her beloved’s side and that’s when she had realized the extent of his injuries.
The blow to his head had managed to draw a lot of blood and someone had stabbed him in the lungs.
Even if Juvia had known that Gray was strong and would probably be fine, she hadn’t wanted to take any risks.
“You’ll be okay now.” Leaning down to press a soft kiss to his forehead, she was worried by its coldness.
“You didn’t have to heal him.” Now that voice was unmistakable.
The water mage straightened herself and turned around to face her oldest friend. “I know.”
“I thought we agreed that you shouldn’t use the Fairy Heart anymore.” Mavis sternly said.
“And I haven’t used it in years.” Juvia replied before glancing at Gray again. “But this is different.”
Mavis followed her gaze and sighed. “This is dangerous, Juvia.”
“I know very well how dangerous love is.” The water mage sincerely said. “But it’s also worth it.”
“Is it worth constantly lying to him?” Fairy Tail’s first master inquired.
“What choice do I have?” Juvia stood up and crossed her arms. “He can’t know about the Fairy Heart, so…”
“So you should stay away.” Mavis interrupted.
“No.” The former shook her head. "I spent decades living in loneliness. I want to live this life now; with Fairy Tail.”
“I understand.” The latter nodded. “But I still think that you shouldn’t use the Fairy Heart anymore."
“I’ll try not to.” Juvia conceded. “Unless there’s an emergency.”
Before Mavis could say more, Gray stirred again and groaned; signaling he was about to wake up.
She gave Juvia one last pleading look before walking away. Once she was at a safe distance, she looked back at them.
Watching as Juvia wrapped her arms around him and Gray hesitated before hugging her back, Mavis sighed once again. “I hope that at least their story will have a happier ending."
                                                   ___________
                                                 July of X791
“Lucy!” Natsu’s scream resonated throughout the stadium once he rushed to catch the celestial mage.
Juvia watched him, noticing the familiar pain and desperation that Zeref had shown so many years before.
Can anyone else tell that he absolutely loves her?
It was clear as day, but not clear to all apparently.
Soon her attention was caught by Gray, who rushed after Natsu. He seemed tense; which was understandable after having been forced to watch one of his closest friends be tortured.
Though Juvia knew that’s why he didn’t spare a glance at her,  it still hurt to be ignored after she had just declared her love for him in front of everyone.
Although; if she were to be honest; it might be best if he says nothing. She had a feeling that his response might not be positive.
Everything with Gray was so complicated. There were times when Juvia was sure he felt the same, but during others it seemed he didn’t even think about it.
It had become rather irritating how he could ignore her one moment, then become sweet and caring in the next.
It specially didn’t help that he acted like a jealous boyfriend whenever Lyon interacted with her.
Juvia had never encountered someone as confusing and complicated as Gray Fullbuster in her 100 years of existence, but somehow that only made her fall for him even more.
“Come on, Lucy, please say something.” Hearing his voice, her attention went back to the present situation.
Noticing the fear in his eyes once he tried to awake their friend, her heart squeezed with sorrow.
“What in the hell is your problem?” There was an unmistakable yell. Natsu. “You went way too far!” Juvia followed his angry gaze towards Minerva and frowned.
How could someone be so cruel and ruthless?
“Hang on, I need to give her emergency treatment!” Wendy yelled and Juvia realized that she was rushing towards the celestial mage.
I should do the same. No time to get distracted.
“I’ll help you.” Chelia offered; she was running closely behind the water mage.
Good. With the two of them helping Lucy, she'll be fine.
“Just hang in there, Lucy.” Having reached the celestial mage, Juvia stood behind Chelia as the two healers combined their magic.
Her attention shifted between Lucy’s concernedly pale face to the rest of team Natsu, who were facing off against Minerva and her pals from Sabertooth.
They traded dirty looks and threats, with Erza reminded them that making an enemy of Fairy Tail was a decision that they would regret.
Juvia knew just how true that statement was. She hoped they would face the consequences soon, but for now her focus was on Lucy.
It was truly worrying that the celestial mage’s injuries didn’t seem to be lessening despite being healed by both Wendy and Chelia.
Why wasn’t their magic working?
Soon two guards came with a gurney, so Juvia and Wendy began attempting to lift Lucy up until Natsu rushed to her side.
Understanding that he wanted to do it himself, they stepped away and watched as he carefully took the celestial mage into his arms; dismissing the gurney with a shake of the head.
Fairy Tail Teams A and B plus Chelia followed him to the infirmary, where Porlyusica was already waiting.
                                        ___________
Juvia followed Team Natsu closely, keeping an eye on Lucy to see if her condition improved.
Once Natsu gently placed the latter on the first bed and sat on the chair beside it,  the water mage smiled softly.
He’s not going to leave her side, is he? He’ll stay here until she wakes up because he needs to know if she’ll be okay.
Her thoughts were confirmed a moment later when Porlyusica began scolding the dragon slayer and trying to persuade him to leave.
He refused to, claiming he wasn’t leaving until Lucy was awake. Thus Gray and Erza had to half drag him to the waiting room that was being filled with Fairy Tail members.
Juvia watched from her chosen spot by the window as the latter tried to comfort him. “She's going to be okay, Natsu.”
“She was hurt pretty bad.” Gray muttered, ignoring Erza’s glare.
“At least she managed to get second place.” Gajeel said and Levy frowned at him.
“Is that really all you care about?” His face hardened.
“Of course not! Do you really think I’m happy that blondie is hurt?” Juvia chose to intervene before this turned into a fight.
“No one thinks that.” Gajeel glanced at her and already knew something was wrong. “What's wrong?”
“Are you okay, Juvia?” Mirajane asked. Now all eyes were on the water mage.
It’s taking too long. Lucy should be better by now.
“Yes.” She offered a weak smile. “Just worried about Lucy.”
“She's going to be fine.” Erza repeated.
“I don’t understand.” Wendy whispered, exasperated. “Chelia and I joined our powers, so why didn’t it heal her?”
“You did a great job, Wendy.” Mirajane reassured the young girl.
“That is a good question, though.” Levy frowned.
Something isn’t right. Wendy’s magic has never failed before.
“My guess is that Minerva’s magic power is stronger than we had imagined.” Makarov suggested. He had been deep in thought ever since entering the room.
“There's something strange about it.” Erza said, crossing her arms.
“I don’t care what her magic is, I just want to take her down!” Natsu yelled and many people nodded in agreement.
Minerva’s magic. It did feel strange; different. What if Lucy was in more danger than they'd assumed?
It was decided. Juvia had to check up on the celestial mage and make sure that she would be alright.
“Excuse me.” Natsu frowned when the water mage tried to move past him.
“Where are you going?” Gray asked and she tried not to look at him.
Why is he always so distracting?
“I’m going to check up on Lucy.” His confusion was clear once she avoided his gaze. After all, she had never done that before.
“But Porlyusica said…” Natsu started.
“I don’t care.” Juvia firmly said, catching him off guard.
Seeing an opportunity, she slightly pushed him to the side and managed to move forward to reach the infirmary.
Thankfully, it had been spelled to be soundproof so no one could hear what happened inside.
Closing the door behind her, Juvia’s eyes were drawn towards the nearest bed.
Lucy was still as pale, lifeless and injured as before. It seemed no matter what anyone tried, she wasn’t getting better.
“What are you doing here?” Porlyusica yelled as soon as she spotted the water mage.
“Her condition isn’t improving.” Juvia whispered, taking another step until she was in front of the bed.
The healer sighed. “Something is preventing her wounds from being healed.”
They could try to figure out what that was, but time was running out. Saving Lucy was the most important thing and Juvia quickly realized that there was only one way to guarantee her friend’s survival.
This is an emergency.
She looked in Porlyusica’s direction. “I can help her.”
“How?” The healer frowned, confused.
Lucy drew in a long, deep breath and her body trembled. She seemed to be in pain and Juvia wanted that to be over and fast.
“No time to explain.” Any explanation would include revealing secrets that were reserved only to masters of Fairy Tail.
“Alright.” Porlyusica nodded before stepping away.
Juvia sat at the edge of the bed and placed a hand on the celestial mage's forehead. Closing her eyes, she concentrated and soon enough felt magic power coursing through her.
A bright green light spread across her body, then the glow was transferred to Lucy’s. Miraculously, the latter’s injuries began disappearing one by one until her skin was once again flawless, the color returned to her face and her breathing returned to normal.
It was like she had never been injured at all.
“How?” Porlyusica watched this in amazement.
“There you go.” Juvia whispered after the light had disappeared. Briefly glancing at the healer, her expression turned serious. “You can’t tell anyone it was me. Please, promise me.”
“Why not?” Porlyusica was genuinely confused.
“It's complicated.” That didn’t even begin to cover the truth.
The healer assessed the young woman in front of her. After a few moments, she concluded that this was serious, so best to keep the secret. ”What should I say, then?”
“Wendy and Chelia’s powers were delayed because of the extent of Lucy’s injuries.” Juvia suggested.
“Alright.” Porlyusica nodded again and the water mage gave her a thankful look.
Juvia watched as she moved towards the door, opening it and walking outside. Then her voice resonated throughout the building once she explained that Lucy’s condition had finally improved thanks to Wendy and Chelia’s efforts.
I don't know why you agreed to keep my secret, but thank you.

Tomb of Time and Destiny: Chapter 4
Juvia POV
“Where are you taking us?” I asked in their weird language, scurrying to walk beside Erza as she wrenches her armored elbow from the blue haired mans grasp. “What was that- that magic that came out of your hands!?” she demanded.
One of the men, the one that shot ice at our attacker, turned and eyed me and Erza, his eyes lingering on me for a heart-stopping moment before his handsome face contorts to a mass of confusion. “You’ve never heard of magic before?”
The other man continued before we could answer.
“What are you doing inside a tomb at this hour?”
Erza and I glance around nervously, noticing the two young men behind them. They were all in their late teens, possibly early twenties.
I tried to swallow but my mouth was dry.
“More importantly,” stated one of the other men that stood behind them. “What are we going to do with them?”
“I don't know.” The tattooed one frowned as he answered.
“How will we explain them everyone?”
“I do not know.” The ice guy glanced at me again. “Who are you?”
Oh that's an easy one. 'Hi, Juvia's name is Juvia and Juvia comes from the future!'
Hmm….It might be dangerous to answer this truthfully. How else to explain our sudden weird arrival!? I glance at Erza and she nods.
There was only one way to play this.
Pulling back my shoulders, lifting my chin and summoning as much courage as possible I look him in his gorgeous onyx black eyes that draw me in and leave me breathl- AHEM- and tell him “Juvia is Juvia Lockser.”
“And I am Erza Scarlet.”
“And we are in search of our sisters.” We finish together as if we planned this small speech out.
“Miss... Scarlet,” the tattooed one said, “How is it that you have become separated from them?”
My mind ran through several believable situations but Erza came up with one quickly. “My sister and I came here searching for our sisters. They were traveling here, but they have not responded to our letters” - ‘they couldn’t even if they tried’ I mentally added- “and we think something terrible has happened to them.”
I silently congratulated her for her fast thinking. This way, if Lucy or Levy showed up, we’d have somewhat of a story. They might even help us find them!
“They traveled alone?”
We hesitated. It was obvious by his tone that that wouldn’t have been very likely in his time. “With escorts, of course.”
He frowned. “Their men were trustworthy?”
“Very much so.” I replied.
One of the other knights, a pink-haired knight, gestured for the other soldiers to go ahead, leaving just the four of us alone.
“And your own men?” The ice guy pressed. “What became of them?”
I thought fast. “Disappeared in the night, with all our possessions.”
“Your horses, too?” The tattooed one asked.
“Gone,” Erza said. Like they’d never existed.
“Blackguards,” the tattooed one muttered under his breath. “If we come across them here, rest assured they will pay for their crimes.”
We nodded, fighting back a smile. But he was still on a roll. “What are your sisters names? Perhaps we can assist you in finding them. What were you two doing inside that tomb anyway?”
I frowned. Where were Lucy and Levy anyways? Erza and I glance at each other. They had been there in the tomb with us; had they made it through this weird time travel thingy too? And if so, why weren’t they there in the tomb with us?
“We…we were lost in the woods so we found shelter last night in the tomb. We must’ve fallen asleep… the sounds of your battle woke us.” Erza mumbled loud enough for them to hear her.
“A tomb of the ancients is an odd place to shelter,” the pink haired one said while approaching us, said, followed by a huge guy with interesting red eyes and .... piercings?
“It was dark,” I returned. “We didn’t know it to be a tomb.”
“Good thing you didn’t,” he said, with a mischievous glint in his eye. “Or you might not have slept a wink. The ghosts might have kept you company all night.” He lifted his eyebrow and grinned.
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the guy. Was he trying to scare us? Or be our friend? Beside me, Erza scoffed.
“In any case, these woods are hardly the place for a woman to be roaming about.” the iceman said. “Had you fallen into the hands of our enemies…” He inhaled and looked at away sharply.
Erza seemed a bit annoyed at his sexist remark but said nothing, much to my relief.
“Phantom Lord is hardly kind to strangers.” Rumbled the tall red eyed one.
I noticed how the tattooed guy also glanced away as if remembering some other, tragic soul. A shiver ran down my back. The ice guy returned his dark, onyx eyes to me, and, somehow, I gained comfort.
“Forgive me. I’ve forgotten proper introductions. I am Gray Fullbuster,” he said while tearing his eyes away from me. “And these are my brothers.” He motions towards the tattooed one and the two other men.
“Natsu Dragneel.” The pinkette says with a cheeky grin.
“Jellal Fernandes” The tattooed one states, glancing at me for a moment before looking back at a slightly blushing Erza.
'I’ll have to ask about that later.'
“Gajeel Redfox.” Rumble the biggest one while crossing his arms over his chest.
We smile and nod politely at their introductions.
Gray put a boot on a large stone, and then let his eyes look us over from head to toe. I struggled not to try to hide myself, as if I were suddenly naked. Well, I definitely felt more naked in this dress with these two enormous slits down the sides! “You two are clearly not from around here. I've never seen a woman in armor or clothing as such. Is this common attire where you're from?"
"U-um, well, Juvia's not so sure about common, but it's not u-unusual..." I answered hesitantly, I mean, how the hell was I supposed I know?! Also, I didn’t appreciate these four, staring at me like I was a cut of beef from the butcher. I could only imagine how Erza was feeling.
They stood there regarding us quietly for a few more moments. They all looked like they wanted to bombard us with more questions but instead they decided to move away a few feet to discuss the battle.
Eager to avoid any more questions or probing looks, we wandered a bit away from them as they talked about the battle. Even with several fat oakes between us, I could feel Gray’s curious gaze. Cheeks flaming, I turn away and stare at the castle in the distance. Of course I find the man of my dreams like, 600 years in the past.
Erza looks from my flaming cheeks to Gray and smirks smugly. Gritting my teeth in embarrassment and irritation I glance over at Jellal, who *cough* just happened to be looking in her direction *cough* and grin wickedly in return when she timidly glances away.
‘What is Juvia doing?! We don’t have time to be fantasizing and teasing each other!!!We need to figure out a way to find Lucy and Levy and get back to our time!! Besides, I can always fantasize and make fun of Erza-san later ^w^’
“Miss Scarlet and Miss Lockser,” Jellal said, gesturing toward the clearing ahead. “Gajeel brought along mounts for you, we will assist you shortly.”
We nod and walk ahead a bit towards the clearing. There, two large horses, one black and the other dark brown, eyed us warily. I smiled and approached the large black horse bringing my hand up a few inches from his nose and held it there, waiting for him to catch my scent. We love animals.
He stood there for a few moments, his dark eyes staring at me as if he could see into my soul. I was begining to think he was going to bite my hand, but instead he stepped forward so that my hand came in contact with his nose.
I accidentally giggled when my horse nuzzled my cheek and snorted softly onto my neck. I patted his neck and ran my fingers through his thick black mane. Glancing at Erza, I could see that she too had easily won over her horse as well. She was smiling brightly, stroking the bottom of the horses jaw, her forehead pressed against him. What the image even more lovely was that both Erza and the horse had their eyes closed. Not wanting to intrude on their moment, I turn my attention back to my own horse, who was now curiously sniffing my hat.
Suddenly, both our horses tense up and look towards the forest where we came from. Both my and Erza's horse nudge us to their side so that they're standing in front of us protectively. A few heartbeats later thundering footsteps are heard.
"JUVIA!!!"
"ERZA!!!"
"STAY AWAY FROM CASTOR AND POLLUX THEY'RE-!!"
Skidding to a halt, both Gray and Jellal find themselves nose to nose with our horses, who rudely snort in their faces and begin to advance forward, fully entending to trample them and anyone else who seemed like a threat to us.
"Pollux! Pollux!" I guessed his name as I scrambled forward, throwing myself in front of him. I must've been right because he immediately stopped be looked at me. "It's okay! It's just Gray! See!"
I move to the side slightly so he can see that it truly was Gray. I could see a flicker of recognition in his eyes before it melted into disinterest. 'Hmm guess he's not a big fan of Gray's' I thought with a chuckle as Pollux came closer and nuzzled my cheek once again.
"Castor you should know better." Erza lightly chided while stroking Castor's face lovingly, Castor seeming to enjoy every moment.
Behind us, someone cleared their throat, prompting us to turn around and face their gawking faces. Erza and I glance at each other before looking back at them in confusion.
"I-is something wrong?"
"Is something wrong?! IS SOMETHING WRONG?!?!" Natsu yelled while pointing an accusatory finger at us. "I'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S WRONG!!!! I TRY FOR YEARS TO WIN OVER THOSE TWO HORSES AND YOU TWO DO IT IN A MATTER OF SECONDS?! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY APPLE TREES I'VE FALLEN OUT OF?!"
Gray and Jellal we're much more civilized with their jaws hanging slack from shock. Jellal was the first to recover.
"H-how did you-" he motions at us and the horses. We blink at him and glance at the horses, who were lightly resting their heads on our shoulders.
Gray took a deep calming breath. "It's just that both Castor and Pollux have a reputation of being one of the most brutal horses in Fiore! And yet here they are nuzzling and sniffing you!"
Something flashed in his eyes amidst all the shock and wonder as he said that, but it was gone before I could figure out what it was.
'Fiore....? Juvia's not familiar with that name... Juvia better look at a map later'
"We need to get moving," The large one, Gajeel, rumbled. "It's already dark."
Seeming to just realize it, they all move. Gajeel and Natsu to grab Gray, Jellal's and their own horses while Gray and Jellal move to help us mount our horses.
We waited for them to cup their hands so we could boost ourselves up- the way we did as kids to help each other (mostly Levy) to get a leg up over the horse, but instead, I find myself biting back a shriek as Gray took my waist in his hands and lifted me upward. Jellal doing the same for Erza.
Now, I’m no featherweight and neither is Erza (you should see the number of strawberry cakes she can eat), but they didn’t even grunt with effort at all!
“Is everything alright?” he asked, studying my face.
I nodded while looking everywhere but at him, unable to come up with any reasonable excuse. I look at Erza with a slight tinge of panic.
‘How are we supposed to ride without falling off?!’
We weren’t accustomed to riding side-saddle, and Pollux seemed to agree with me from the way he kept shifting from foot to foot, seeming to know he couldn't run full speed with me seated like this. If it weren’t for Grays hands holding me in place I probably would have accidentally slid off.

HOLDING.
ME.

PLACE.
Seeming to realize it at the same time as I did, Gray’s hands immediately leave my waist as if I burned him, his cold touch lingering. Face aflame, I take hold of the reins with one hand and shifted a little, trying to feel a bit less precarious. “Uh, G-Gray.”
“Yes?” Gray said, not looking at me he mounted his horse.
“Juvia…uh, Juvia and Erza are accustomed to someone leading them. Usually our reins are tied to the leaders mount. Perhaps it is done differently here?” I fidget with the reins and don’t look up, I felt rather than saw Erza's shoulders slump down in relief.
“Of course,” he said in understatement, easing his horse over to mine. Jellal doing the same for Erza. Our horses tensed a bit when their horses came a bit too close for comfort, but we soothingly stroked their necks to calm them down.
Gray took the reins from me, and I took a deep breath. At least now I had two hands with which to grip the Pollux's mane and saddle. 'If Pollux and Castor are as ruthless as they say then how did they manage to get a saddle on them? They're probably just exaggerating, Juvia's never met a sweeter horse in her life.'

Things We Do Not Speak Of
~~~~CHAPTER FOUR~~~~~
Read Chapters 1-3: Tumblr | A03 | fanfiction.net
Summary: Following the Alverez war, Natsu needs to talk to Gray. There is too much left unspoken, events that they haven’t been able to talk through, but he can’t even step through his front door without seeing his friendly stalker outside… Characters: Natsu Dragneel; Gray Fullbuster; Juvia Lockster Ships: Natsu x Gray, Gray x Juvia
Natsu’s tired haze did not disappear the next day.
The week was finally drawing to a close. Missions were officially starting to appear back on the guild board, not that most of them were being taken yet. Between the war, the wounds and the repairs, almost every wizard in Fairy Tail had worn themselves to exhaustion, and Natsu more so than most. His head had spent most of the day against the wooden tables, slumbering away the words of care advising him to go to just go home and go to bed.
He didn't see Gray or Juvia for the whole day. It had been almost an entire week since Gray had set foot in the guildhall. Maybe they were busy, Natsu mused to himself …Maybe they were just more interested in each other's company than anyone else's…
He had no intention of returning to the bench that day.
It was late when he finally gave into the friendly suggestions to walk home. The hard desk hadn’t exactly given him a comforting rest, but he knew that he'd slept too much to get any more that night. He'd told Happy as much, and for yet another evening asked him to stay with Lucy or Lisanna. The little exceed may have looked worried, but he kept a brave face. He knew that Natsu was using him to scout around the rest of his friends and check up on everyone. He took this role seriously, proud to be a part of the winning pair, so for yet another night he went to Lucy’s side and let Natsu tackle the other half of the guild. Which always seemed to lead to just one person.
Natsu really had intended to go straight home. As soon as he saw Gray by the canal, he knew that wouldn’t happen.
The damp air muddled Gray’s scent, the moisture made his hair flat and lifeless, and he didn’t even turn in Natsu’s direction no matter how loud his footsteps were. But it was him. It was finally him. Natsu felt that lump again, that horrible feeling growing and reminding him just how much he’d missed Gray. He’d so genuinely missed him.
"Hey."
"Hey."
That was all they said for the first few seconds. Gray with his hands deep in his pockets, Natsu adjusting his scarf uncomfortably. The air was thick and unbearable, laced with a soft mist from the previous day’s downpour and filling their breath with stifling closeness. The sounds of the canal washing away the rain quickly and loudly was all that fell between them, splashing over the side and threatening to burst through.
"Gray-"
"You're an idiot."
Natsu stopped. He hadn’t even had the chance to finish deciding what to say before it was abruptly cut short! "I- Why am I the idiot?!" he yelled out.
Gray suddenly turned back to Natsu. Anger blazed in his eyes, a deeper and more personal vein than in their usual spars. Every muscle in the Ice Maker’s body was tensed, coiled tightly and ready to explode, but he somehow managed to get one finger to point aggressively at Natsu's chest. "If you ever try to mess with my love life again, I swear to Maker I will break every one of your fucking teeth," he hissed.
Natsu's eyes widened, clearly confused. He had barely the time to even process what he could have done wrong. His words were threatening, laced with an unusual strain of anger; raw, hurt and cold. But the truly devastating message was much quieter; if this was one of their usual fights, he would have punched him already.
"What happened?" Natsu asked.
Gray’s eyes hardened, cold and glazed with that frozen rage. "I thought you knew me better than that," he told him flatly.
And then he turned away.
Somehow, that was even worse.
Natsu's brain was spinning in circles, trying to work out what on Earthland he was talking about. Gray had taken several steps back now, lifting a cigarette to his lips and struggling to ignite the flame in the moist air. Something about the image, the older man hunched over the old habit, the hooded gaze and stubbornly ignoring him, was unrecognisable. Natsu realised now it must have been an awful mistake, threatening to break what was already so fragile. “I don’t understand – just tell me what I’ve done?!” he spat out, his concerns shining as red-hot anger.
Gray pulled the unlit cigarette from his mouth, throwing Natsu a sideways glance. "I’m not in love with Juvia. Never have been," he said.
"Wh-what?!"
But that didn't make sense! Even while Gray seemed clueless, and at times even terrified, the affection between the pair was undeniable. Everyone in the guild knew the two would eventually gravitate towards each other. It may have been twisted and strange and broken, but weren't most things in the guild? "If-if you didn't love her, why didn't you just tell her?!" Natsu demanded.
"I did. Several times."
"B-But then you kept her close! And she kept flirting with you, but you were always going on missions together and days out and stuff! Why did you do that!?" Natsu shouted again, feeling strangely protective.
“I didn’t do-” Gray swallowed suddenly, swiftly glancing away as he swallowed his instincts just to fight back. Not because he didn't want to fight, but because he felt the familiar strings of guilt holding him back. "I was put into a difficult position. I wanted to like her. Things would have been easier if I'd liked her, even just a little…" he said, his words drifting away from him. "She's always been a really good friend to me, and I never wanted to break her heart. Besides, if people thought that I liked her they wouldn't ask me who I actually like…"
That was a lot of information for Natsu to take in a very short amount of time. Everything seemed to be spinning out of control. Up was down, left was right, and now Gray didn't even like Juvia? He was trying to protect both her feelings and his own? "Well, how the hell was I supposed to know that?!" he demanded.
"I thought you knew me!!" Gray snapped back at him, his eyes sharpening back to Natsu. He growled under his breath, trying to shove the cigarette back into his mouth. It still wouldn't light, only adding to his frustrations. "Or you could have at least fucking asked."
"I'm not the one that was using Juvia all this time!!" Natsu shouted.
"That's not-!!" Gray let out an angry sound of annoyance, having to start again and taking out the cigarette just so he could scream at him. "I wasn't using her! I was- I already told her that I wasn't interested! It's not my fault that she just didn't believe me!”
“That’s bullshit!” Natsu yelled back.
“No, what’s bullshit is you trying to force me and her together when you know nothing about our situation!” Gray said, taking several steps forwards before pushing Natsu heavily against his chest. “You don’t know anything about me or what I want. You clearly don’t know who I want, so just back the fuck up and get out of my life.”
“But she loves you!” Natsu said, glaring at his friend as he felt something close to empathy. “Doesn’t that mean anything to you?”
“You think I have to love her just because she loves me?” Gray asked, looking at him in complete disbelief. “That’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works!”
“Well, maybe it should be!!” Natsu yelled back at him.
“That’s- Grow up! Things don’t fall into place just because you want it that way!” Gray snapped at him.
Gray finally lost his temper. Something inside of him seemed to snap. But as Natsu braced himself for the first of many blows, nothing happened. Instead, Gray took the cigarette in his hand, crushing it and throwing it away. A small, angry hiss escaped through his teeth as he stormed forward, keeping his distance and moving straight past Natsu.
Natsu growled, grabbing onto Gray’s arm as he tried to escape. He kept his eyes on him, stony and determined, reflecting the years of experience and maturity he’d gained – whether he’d wanted it or not. “You can’t just pretend that you didn’t lead her on.”
Gray paused, only slightly, before shrugging himself out of the grip. He matched the glare with one filled with despise. “Think what you like. But it was your stupidity really hurt my best friend, Natsu,” he told him.
He didn’t wait for a reaction. The Ice Maker turned away, the bitterness lowering the chilling temperature around him as he moved away.
Natsu stood, helpless and frozen, trying to work out which part of that had hurt him most: The words, the implications, the hatred, or the fact that Gray had refused to raise a hand against him.
"Trevor."
Juvia called out into the darkness only to hear her own voice answer.
Dried leaves and fallen twigs broke beneath Juvia's weight with crisp sound. She did not mind them. Juvia continued pursuing the dark forest. Blue orbs gathered the smallest speck of light so she could see even through the blinding darkness. She did. She saw the nakedness of the forest which would have been impossible to human eyes. Despite her efforts, Juvia couldn't find the Scarlet champion. There was no sign of the raven-haired boy either. The whiff of human blood was her only hope in finding them. She followed it.
Alas, Juvia saw movements underneath the ancient white oak. Her blue pupils widened, the vampire vision allowed her to see the figure clearly. She couldn't see his face; his back was at her. Yet, somehow she knew, even when the branches blocked the moonlight, the figure's hair was of a Scarlet color.
"Trevor." She whispered.
Juvia's heart raced upon the realization that he wasn't alone. The smell of blood grew strong as she approached the tree cautiously. The aroma of human blood confirmed her suspicion.
"Trevor!"
A surge of protectiveness hit Juvia. She could feel herself changing. The princess hurled forward; the faint and slow sound of the human's heartbeat urged her steps. She easily grabbed the Scarlet champion by the collar and threw him on the ground like he weighed nothing. Juvia was stronger and quicker compared to the losing champion.
The cruel dots widened into blue pupils. Juvia's features smoothened. The animal snarl long gone and was replaced by genuine worry. Then, she panicked.
Gray Fullbuster sat against the old oak tree, fighting for his life. He was losing so much blood and the sound of his heartbeat was quickly fading.
Juvia cautiously touched his face, afraid to break him. Warmth left Gray's body; his skin was cold as ice. The blood ran onto Gray's damp shirt. Experience taught Juvia to search for its source. She needed to find the bite-mark and put pressure on it so that the blood would stop streaming out. It proved to be a struggle. His neck was already reddened with blood.
Her fingers searched for a vein or an artery. It would be a vampire's primal instinct to target those areas to feed. Juvia felt two dents on his neck, the thin coat of blood concealed them. She put her fingers on top of the twin dots and pressed.
"Let him die."
The voice came from behind, cold as the night.
Juvia sunk her teeth into the flesh of her wrist, drawing blood. She pressed the open bite against Gray's already blue lips and felt blood sipping out of the bite. Her blood had the power to heal Gray but she needed to hurry. Her wound would heal itself and close quickly.
"I said leave him to die!"
Juvia pierced her skin again with her sharp canines and did the same ministration, feeding Gray her vampire blood. She sensed the rage coming from Trevor, white heat of pain and fury. She'd deal with him later. All she could think about now was saving the raven-haired boy.
Relief washed over Juvia when she heard Gray's heartbeat slowly gaining. When she was assured that the boy was finally safe, Juvia rose from her position and faced the culprit. She had to deal with the new vampire and try to talk sense into him.
What she saw frightened her even more; Juvia was now staring at red eyes glowing with bloodlust.
"No!"
The dream violently awakened Juvia. She was shaking, from the sheer memory, from the harsh coldness that gripped her clothed body. She found herself screaming into her silent room. The one syllable word bounced against the four walls until it finally vanished. Cold bullets of sweat trailed down her flushed skin until they dissolved into the fabric of her night clothes.
The nightmare brought with it heavy feelings. It lingered in the room, wrapping around her neck that made her struggle to breathe. In the past few months, she was slowly healing. The nightmares have tamed. The vivid memory of the night Trevor died has turned black and white, then became a blur until it was deduced to nothing but a distant memory. But seeing Gray yesterday, Juvia was back to where she started. And worse. The memory was harsher and the demons came back stronger. All her efforts in the past few months to heal herself shattered in an instant.
Juvia's heart was pounding so violently that she could feel it almost coming out her chest. She placed a quivering hand over it, trying to appease it. It was futile. Her half-vampire, half-human heart throbbed unusually. It was beating so loudly she has mistaken the sound of soft knocking on her door and missed it.
The door creaked ajar. Blonde head peeked through the small opening.
"Good, you're up." The Heartfilia daughter pushed the door open, all dressed and made-up. She entered the room without invitation. She did not need one. "You have to get ready or you'll be late for school." Lucy reminded.
The young blonde ambled toward the king-sized bed; a lone princess sat at the middle, surrounded by a sea of light blue sheet and duvet. Lucy dropped at the side of the bed wanting to say one thing and having said another.
"You don't look so well, Juvia!"
The distress in Lucy's voice rang in the princess' ears, paired with the panic that rounded Lucy's brown eyes. The hands that worriedly cupped Juvia's face lent it warmth. The princess was sweating but her porcelain skin was freezing.
The concern in Lucy's warm brown eyes ate at the princess. Juvia never wanted anyone to worry about her. Especially not Lucy. The sole survivor of the Heartfilia lineage has problems of her own and Juvia should not add to that. Juvia never wanted to be a burden. Before the worried youngster panicked for her sake, the princess took Lucy's hands in hers, removed them from her face and placed them on Lucy's lap.
"I'm fine." She lied. "Just a bad dream." Juvia faked a smile, hoping it would appease the worried youngster.
"Tell me about it." Lucy coaxed.
Juvia felt the mattress dipped when Lucy adjusted herself on the bed to face her properly.
"I'm here to listen."
Juvia wanted to tell her. She always wanted to be honest with Lucy. But something was holding her back and Juvia did not know what it was. It held her captive. Her truth was sealed by that unknown thing that held her back from opening up; leaving her no other choice but to concoct another lie.
"I don't even remember anymore. So, don't worry about it." It pained Juvia to know how easy she could lie through her teeth and to Lucy of all people.
"Well, yeah. But –"
"–We'll be late for school."
Lucy did not disagree but she wasn't convinced either. Knowing the princess all her life, she knew if something bothered Juvia. She could tell by the way the princess avoided Lucy's brown eyes and the way the former always changed the subject.
Juvia realized she was still holding her best-friend's hands. She gave it a little squeeze as an act of reassurance before she finally let it go.
"You go first. I'll come down in a second."
"Just… You know you can tell me everything, right?"
Brown eyes surrendered. She wanted to give Juvia the space she wanted but she needed her to know one thing. "I'm here, Juvia. I've been busy but you know I'm here."
Lucy gave the princess' hands a squeeze too, comforting her, assuring her. Her eyes begging Juvia to trust her. She did. Lucy was one of the few people Juvia could trust her life with. But she couldn't tell her about the nightmares. She couldn't tell anyone.
"I've been worrying everyone since the Selection."
Guilty blue eyes withdrew from the gaze; ashamed of the trouble she brought everywhere.
"That's because we care, Juvia."
Lucy's words always had a certain power to them. They comforted Juvia; easing the burden she have been feeling since the morning. For a moment she almost believed that everything was going to be alright. That everything would go back to normal. She knew it wouldn't but it helped to have some moments like that. Moments that gave her a glimmer of hope.
"I know that." She said before the urgency of the morning came to her. "Now, go or we'll be both late for school."
Lucy obeyed without protest. She left the bed, walked to the door and was about to grab the knob only to turn around to make one final resolve, "Let's talk after school, okay?" The door clicked behind her.
It surprised Juvia. So much so that she answered an agreement without thinking. When she heard the click of the door, Juvia wallowed in her own thoughts. She pulled her knees against her chest and buried her face between the space. Her jaws clenched. Her teeth gritted. Her cold fingers gripped at the duvet.
"I said leave him to die!"
It was all coming back to her now: Trevor's bloodshot eyes, his cry of pain and anguish, Gray's fainting heartbeat, Trevor's attack and… Her breath caught up in her throat. Juvia had to stop herself from remembering, remembering the awful thing that she had done.
"Can't you see? He's the only one standing in our way."
Juvia brushed away her thoughts, rubbing her open palms against her face in an effort to return the warmth to it. She threw a jaded look at her bathroom door. Waking up and getting ready in the morning have started to feel like a chore. With the little will power she had, Juvia pushed herself off the bed and dawdled to the shower.
It was the second day of school and Juvia dreaded the day before it even started.
Fiore History class was taught at the third floor of the Makarov Dreyar building, named after The Eldest. The students were scattered around the classroom, waiting for the teacher to come in. It was the second day of school and Juvia could not tell if she has adjusted to everything just yet. Everything looked normal for a classroom set-up, she thought. Juvia wasn't sure. She has never been in a classroom before with other regular students.
It wasn't long until the Fiore History teacher arrived. He was a buff man with chiseled features. From what Juvia heard, Mr. Groh was a resigned high-ranking official from the Training Center. However, from what she gathered, Mr. Bacchus Groh was actually dismissed from the service. Something to do with inappropriate behavior. Mr. Groh was certainly not a regular man since he was able to pull some strings to teach at the Academy.
Mr. Groh started to call out the names in the roll in alphabetical order. Some of the last names Juvia heard of. They were of powerful and influential families with lineage already existing even before the year Juvia was born. Most of the last names, however, did not ring a bell.
Juvia braced herself when the Fiore History teacher approached the letter F. She busied herself by thinking about something else. Anything unrelated to the raven-haired boy. Mr. Groh's weird scar on his left eyebrow got her attention. There was a thin blank line that almost divided his eyebrow into two unequal parts. There was no hair on that line. Nevertheless, the scar did him good. It gave him this certain bad boy appeal that girls seem to like. His eyes were straightforward and a little mischievous. They locked eyes for a moment before he turned to his roll and penned something on it. Juvia realized Mr. Groh just called her name for attendance. She wasn't able to answer and she had yet to introduce herself to him either. But Juvia was royalty; she needed no introduction.
Groh continued to the Rs. He mentioned a name but no one answered. He called out again to no avail.
"I guess someone lost their pants in the woods and is late for school looking for them."
Juvia rolled her eyes at his snarky comment thereafter. Implying something crude despite the fact that the man was an educator. What ill-manners! Someone from the class weighed in saying that the absent student was probably fighting a hungover. It earned a laugh from the class but not from Juvia. Mr. Groh then called for Gajeel, calling him his Highness. There was also no response.
Juvia glanced at his desk only to find it vacant. She scanned the room; no sign of the Prince of the West. He wasn't at breakfast earlier too. Gajeel was probably still in bed with some stranger. His absence, though, did not earn a snarky remark from the teacher nor did his classmates had anything to say. Perks of royalty: everyone was afraid to offend you. Deep down, Juvia knew, they all wanted to say something about it.
Bacchus Groh did not linger on Gajeel's absence and proceeded to the S. Juvia's brows were pulled in distaste when she saw the flirtatious glance the teacher in front threw at the Strauss Princess. Juvia now had an idea what the 'inappropriate behavior' was all about. When the suggestive teacher made an effort to make small talks with Mira, Juvia rolled her eyes. He reminded Juvia of a guy who slept with women with great backgrounds, royal even. A male social climber.
Mr. Groh folded his record book, placed it inside the drawer and locked it in place. Juvia had no idea why he had to. Who would want to steal a class record? The buffed teacher walked around the classroom, throwing questions at students. He asked Juvia something about the battle with the dark cult – Avatar. She wasn't in the mood to answer and apologized.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Groh–"
"–Bacchus will do, Your Highness."
"But I really have no idea."
Mr. Sunshine smiled and assured the princess it was alright if she didn't know. Even apologized for asking a silly question.
Juvia came up with a conclusion: Bacchus Groh was the type of guy who was willing to bend over to please. Juvia knew what he wanted, to gain some influence by association. Exactly the reason he was able to get a teaching job from the Academy despite that smudge in his record. She glanced at Mira who was now answering the teacher's question. Mirajane was smiling but Juvia could tell the Strauss Princess wasn't interested at all. Neither was she. Juvia lost interest in her teacher's lecture the moment he entered the room in tight garments. Probably wanting to show off his muscles. They weren't impressive.
Mr. Groh continued his lecture, now talking about the misguided goals of Avatar. Bored blue eyes wandered around the room yet avoiding a certain spot. There was only one reason why – Gray Fullbuster.
Juvia ought to hit herself. She knew well what effect Gray had on her. Just the thought of him sent her down a depressing spiral. But like a moth to a flame, Juvia was drawn to him.
Blue guarded eyes, now wild with curiosity, landed on a raven-haired boy sitting three to four desks away from her. Juvia lowered her head, not wanting to reveal herself. She stole a glance at Gray then returned to the blank page on her notebook. She felt a throbbing in her chest and her grip on her pen tightened. The dark feeling was at it again, pressing her down the chair, holding her captive. But there was another feeling buried beneath all the darkness – a glint of longing. Juvia could not understand. He was bad for her. Gray drew out the demons the princess struggled to suppress. Instead of avoiding him, however, she felt a sudden need to see him again. Juvia obliged. She casted another glance at Gray; this time her deep blue eyes lingered.
Gray hasn't changed much. His hair was almost the same length as it was during the Selection. His chiseled features have become more prominent like he lost weight. Gray was listening attentively or so it appears. His brows were knitted, meeting at the center. His midnight eyes were trained ahead.
Then suddenly, Juvia was staring at those endless midnight eyes and they were staring at her too. Juvia quickly called Lucy who was sitting next to her and pretended to ask something about the lesson. The truth was she was embarrassed when Gray caught her gaze. At her peripheral vision she saw Gray returning to just staring up ahead. Juvia let out a relieved sigh but her heart was pounding harder than usual. A peek of that confusing feeling broke into the surface of the endless darkness. It was enthralling.
Half-way through the lecture on Fiore, Juvia felt a change in the atmosphere. She had a sudden bad feeling. Something was not right. Juvia picked the desk next to the wide window that afforded view of the entrance to the Rosewoods. The quadrangle that time of the day was deserted. Classes just started and the administrators of the Academy were strict about cutting classes. That day, Juvia saw something or someone coming out of Rosewoods – people, about four or five of them. Juvia could not see who the men were but they looked like they were in a rush and were headed towards the right wing of the building. It looked like they were carrying something too. Juvia's full attention was focused on that something the boys were carrying and she almost jumped when she realized what it was, a human girl. Upon the realization, every detail became clear. The girl's shirt was drenched in brown and dark red. She recognized the latter, it was blood. Around the girl's collar, seething through the fabric was blood. Juvia could never mistake it.
No one else noticed the commotion at the quadrangle besides Juvia. Until, a male student popped at the door. He looked like he sprinted from the first floor to here, struggling to relay his message and catching his breath. Whatever he wanted to say seemed urgent.
"Mr. Groh! They… found a body… in the woods!" he announced, huffing and puffing in between the words. "She's from your class." He blurted out.
Juvia saw the color washed away from her Fiore teacher. The information terrified Juvia. Could it be the absent girl from this class?
Bacchus Groh raced the distance from the third down the first floor, his steps urgent, leaving behind the class in chaos. The current lecture was completely abandoned. All the students sprinted after Groh; so did Knight and Mira. Something about this felt bad, like a looming storm was about to hit the town.
"Juvia, let's go." Mira called, abruptly pulling Juvia back to the current situation.
With vampire speed, the royals arrived at the scene in no time. They rolled in just in time to see the group that carried the motionless girl burst through the door and hurried into the building. They were loudly arguing which direction to take, panicking, and not thinking straight. But Juvia could hear the sound of a faint heartbeat and labored breathing. The girl was still alive! But not for long if the boys could not make up their minds.
"Take her to the infirmary."
The stern and definitive voice came from the red-haired girl who just arrived with Mr. Name and the rest of the class. She showed no sign of panic or distress. No emotion at all.
The rescue party followed her without objections and carried the attacked girl towards where Juvia assumed led to the infirmary. Up close the situation looked even more terrifying. The girl's garments were still on but it was drenched with a mix of dark red and brown. Her expert blue eyes searched for something and her suspicions were confirmed when she recognized the two cruel dots on the side of her neck. The thought was even more terrifying. The girl was attacked by a vampire!
Mr. Groh tried to hold back the curious crowd and let the rescue party on their way. Camera phones started clicking and flashing. In a loud and angered voice, he scolded the students: warned them to keep their phones away and threatened to confiscate all of them. His face was all red and his veins came in prominence.
Erza knifed through the crowd, her authority parting the nosy crowd into two. The murmuring students let her and stood on the side as the Student President made her way down the stairs. Her face was unreadable or rather it was blank. There was no expression on Erza's face but just pure authority.
A young blonde walked beside the Student Council President. The two followed the trail the rescue party took. A few male students rounded the close-knit pack.
When the attacked girl was out of sight, murmurs erupted. Students were both surprised and freaked out after the fact. Juvia thought they ought to feel guilty about their remarks earlier. But people did not like admitting to their mistakes. Instead, they rationalize their faulty actions.
The students whispered their concerns, more for their safety rather than for the well-being of the attacked girl. However, in a din of troubled voices, one thought caught the princess attention. She tried to filter the conversations passing through her ears to focus on one voice.
"This is the first time something like this ever happened!"
Writer's Corner: Merry Christmas you amazing, amazing people. Especially, to my #Gruvia Family. Uploaded this today so you see a glimpse of Gruvia on Christmas.
We're already beginning the first phase of this story by introducing the attack on that girl. Not sure if I can pull off this vampire attack action but I swear to stick to it. Also, one review asked about the sudden change in TVT. I'd like to explain it here. This version of TVT: Book I The First Sire is the official first book in the series. The first one I have written I have renamed to The Vampire Tales: Prequel. In short, the events in the Prequel are events that took place prior to this story. I'll put flashbacks in here which took place in the prequel. Please look forward to it. I'll go to back and finish TVT: Prequel once I research and learn more about writing action scenes.
I hope that clears up the confusion. Again, TVT: Prequel, the one I wrote first took place prior to this story: TVT: The First Sire.
Once again, Merry Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you enjoyed glance-stealing Juvia. Hehe.
Also, please take the note that I post in ffnet in advance.
Written in Pen
A late night fluff thought I really needed to read, but I ended up having to do myself lol
Trying to get back into writing more frequently, and it looks like it’s gonna be more Gruvia for a little while sorry but not really sorry this most likely sucks and I’m sure there are plenty of errors, but oh well for now. I’m tired and wine isn’t helping that matter :)
Summary: Juvia begins doodling on Gray before bed, and he doesn’t mind one bit
Pairing: Gray x Juvia
Rating: K+
Genre: Romance, fluff
Read on FFN
Something presses against Gray’s shoulder blade - something small and firm - then glides downward and over. His eyes snap open at the strange sensation before narrowing. He turns his head to the side, cheek resting on the pillow and trying to eye his girlfriend over his shoulder, but is unable to see her.
“Juvs?”
“Yes, my darling?” Juvia hums as the feeling continues, curling around and poking, as though she were trying to create something.
“What are you doing?”
“Doodling,” she replies casually, making Gray’s brows furrow.
“Doodling,” he repeats monotonously. She hums again in response.
“Yes, now don’t move or you will ruin Juvia’s picture.” She reaches over and flicks the pen against his nose before going back to work. It was a strange feeling, but Gray was exhausted (he thought Juvia would be, too, given the treatment he’d just given her, but she always manages to surprise him with her energy. Plus, he’d just gotten back from a week-long job, so of course he’d be exhausted. First night away from that loud-mouthed pyro after a week? Hell yeah), and he gave into the sleep calling his name, deciding to let Juvia do her thing - whatever that thing was.
-/-
Juvia drawing on Gray before bed had become somewhat of a norm in their relationship after that first night. It wouldn’t happen every night, but many mornings Gray had woken up and walked into the bathroom to see small doodles, sweet words, and declarations of love written over his arms, torso, and back in blue ink. Often times it brought a smile to his lips before Juvia crept into the bathroom as well and they showered, where the ink would wash down the drain with the flowing water (Gray wondered if she only drew on him so she would have an excuse to shower with him the morning after - not that he was complaining in the slightest).
Some of the doodles would be hearts, water droplets, and snowflakes. They weren’t overly intricate, just simple, mindless scribbles (she had once drawn a baby and Gray nearly had a heart attack, thinking it was a message from Juvia, but she quickly and bashfully assured him that it was only a doodle).
Juvia would also write lyrics and poems down the length of his arms and across his hip bone, and some poems she would write herself. They were all sweet and well written, and Gray always took the time to read them before they would be washed away. She didn’t think he would read them, nor did she expect him to, but he always did before she woke up and joined him in the bathroom.
The declarations of love and scrawlings of Mrs. Juvia Fullbuster always had him chuckling to himself. He had yet to tell it to her in words - he wasn’t sure if he was there yet - and this wasn’t a way of pushing him. He would say it when he was ready, and Juvia respected that. That didn’t mean she would hold back - of course not. And he was glad. She always assured him that she loved him and wasn’t going anywhere, and reading it written on his body in her handwriting made him sure of that.
One morning he woke to having only one small, simple doodle: a droplet of water resting right over his heart at the center of his chest. That was it, nothing more.
And yet...
He wasn’t sure how long he had been staring at it in the reflection of the bathroom mirror - he’d woken up earlier than usual, and knew Juvia wouldn’t be up for a long while yet. But the door soon opened further and in stepped a messy head of blue hair, hands rubbing at tired eyes. She gave him that happy, sleepy smile of hers before wrapping her arms around him, pecking his lips and whispering a good morning. She then stepped aside to start the shower and slowly slip out of the shirt of his she wore. This happened every morning he woke up with blue ink, and he loved it.
His thoughts from his earlier trance would fade away for the time being as she tempted him and slipped beneath the spray of the water, beckoning him forward with her eyes. He’d join without hesitation.
-/-
When Juvia began to stir awake, she found herself still wrapped in the warmth of her lover’s arms and the thought had her smiling brightly before she even opened her eyes. His firm chest was pressed to her back and she pressed herself into the touch, not wanting it to leave.
She loved waking up and still being in his arms - they often would before Gray would get up to go to the bathroom and she would give herself a few more minutes of rest before going in after him.
The arms around her tightened fractionally and Juvia knew he was awake. Slowly she turned to face him and he blew away some of her hair that was still messily in his face. She laughed softly, his warm smile making her breathless.
She reached forward and placed her hand on his jaw, just about to lean in to brush her lips over his, when something caught her eye. With a furrowed brow she looked at her hand and followed the line of blue ink, turning her hand to look at the back of it.
I love you.
Tears pricked at her eyes and she stared at Gray’s handwriting for a while before she blinked up to him and he was still smiling that warm, loving smile. He took her hand and raised it to his lips, kissing it softly, solidifying the unspoken words written in ink.
Juvia launched herself forward, nearly cracking their foreheads together, and threw her arms around his neck. They were falling halfway off the bed but Gray didn’t mind. Juvia’s excitement would be worth any impending headache.
She told him over and over again that she loved him - stumbling over her words when they wouldn’t come out fast enough - and he could only laugh, running a hand through her tangled blue locks.
When she said she was never washing her hand again, Gray had to assure her he would do it again if she just please kept up with her hygiene. He never knew if she was joking about these sorts of things or not.
Even so, he still told her. While he would show her more through his actions, he still wanted her to hear the words.
He loved her. He really loved her, and he would for the rest of his days.
He was just glad she didn’t see the rows and rows of I love you’s written across her back. She may just have a heart attack. Maybe he got carried away, but he meant it. She deserved every one of those statements and then some.
The next morning he would wake up covered head to toe in blue ink, but he didn’t mind.
They would need to get new bedding since the previous ones were stained from the pen, but he’d gladly stock up on extras if it meant she’d keep writing on him. It soothed him to sleep and it was an addicting feeling. He’d never get enough of it.
He’d never get enough of her.
Further down the line of their lives, they would marry, and his proposal would be made in a similar way - declarations of love on or near specific parts of her body (I love your hair. I love your eyes. I love your smile. I love your hips. I love your legs.)
She’d look into mirror the next morning to read all of them before getting into the shower and settling on her palm - as she was pouring shampoo into it (she had a job request and needed to leave early, deciding not to wake Gray earlier than needed):
I love you, Juvia.
Marry me?
Shower still running, she ran out of the bathroom and tackled the sleeping ice mage, water getting everywhere, and screaming yes over and over again. It took Gray a moment to realize what was happening - he was sleeping rather deeply, and it was only, what, six in the morning? But once he did, he smiled and kissed the top of her wet head as she buried her face in his neck, happy as could be.
And he was, too.
Despite Gray’s weak protests, Juvia got ahold of Gajeel and said she wouldn’t make it to the mission (he’d be grumpy about it at first, but would ease up once he found his best friend was finally getting married to the damn stripper.)
Gray was surprised when he found himself rather content lying in bed all day, the both of them mindlessly doodling on each other. She was softening him up, but he didn’t have a care in the world. He’d do anything to make sure she kept smiling at him like that with all the love she had to offer.
Read On Ao3
Life was a bitch. It lures you in with hope and false promises only to leave you in a shitty bar moaning over your overdue rent.
“Another one hun?”
Lucy turned her attention from her drink to the bartender. A sweet woman named Mirajane worked the same nights Lucy was dragged to the bar by Natsu. Usually the two would spend hours chatting in-between Mira serving customers, but that wasn’t the case tonight. Tonight, Lucy was full of despair and she didn’t want to take her bitterness out on Mirajane.
“No, I should probably slow down a bit.” Lucy answered while forcing a smile.
“Yeah you probably should,” Mira teased. "You’ve only been here for an hour and you're almost near your limit.”
Lucy blushed in embarrassment. Lucy isn’t a heavy drinker, but she did get carried away sometimes. After one particularly bad night, she asked Mira to limit her to no more than 6 drinks. It was usually rare for her to have more than 3 drinks, and never so early in the night. Mira knew this better than anyone which is why her expression changed from teasing to worried.
“Is everything okay Lucy? I haven’t seen you look this down in months?”
Lucy pushed her drink away while answering, “My landlord raised my rent again. I thought I could still afford it but Natsu’s birthday was around the time it was due, and I ended up spending a bit too much on his gift. I couldn’t pay all of it, so I still have to pay a late fee as well as the rest of the amount.”
Mira leaned over the bar to squeeze Lucy’s hand in comfort. “Don’t worry Lucy. I’m sure everything will work out okay.”
She tried to smile back at her, but it came out more of a grimace. “I hope so. I really don’t want to go back to living with Natsu and the guys.” Lucy hopped off the bar stool. “Thanks for the talk Mirajane, but I probably shouldn’t stay so close to the bar. Drowning my worries in alcohol is too expensive. If I keep buying drinks, I’m gonna end up homeless.”
“Well you could always get someone else to buy drinks for you.” Mira winked. “There’s plenty of guys and girls here that would buy every bottle off the shelf just to get a chance with you.”
Lucy laughed and waved her goodbye while she left the bar. She walked towards the crowd of swaying bodies hoping to find a head of pink hair, only to be blocked by the sheer number of people. The bar hired a band to play that night. Lucy never heard of them, but they must have been popular to draw such a large crowd. Nevertheless, Lucy looked around for a chair or stool she could stand on to get a better view.
“Lucy? Is that you?” Lucy froze. A feeling of dread filled her stomach.
“Lucy.” A soft hand reached out and touched her shoulder. She glanced at the person out of the corner of eye.
When she saw the blue hair, she immediately turned away.
“Nope! Sorry, it looks like you got the wrong person.” She tried to walk away but the grip on her shoulder tightened.
“Lulu, I know that’s you.” Lucy gritted her teeth and turned to face the other woman.
“Don’t call me that!” She hissed. “What do you want Juvia?”
Juvia looked shocked at her outburst before a look of understanding crossed her face. She played with the hem of her dark blue dress before answering. “Lulu isn’t still mad at Juvia, is she?”
Lucy crossed her arms. “It’s Lucy. And no, I’m not mad at you Juvia. Why would you think that?”
“Because you sound angry.” Juvia muttered. She let go of her dress to clasp Lucy’s hand in her own. “If Lucy isn’t angry with Juvia, then can they talk?”
Despite everything, Lucy still felt her heart flutter at the sight of her hand in Juvia’s. The other woman was looking at her with such a hopeful look, one that always caused butterflies to fly in Lucy’s stomach. That’s the same look Juvia had when she asked her out all those years ago.
“Fine, we can talk. But only for a few minutes.”
Juvia smiled and tighten her grip on the hand still clasped in hers. She led the blonde through the crowd and towards the door. Lucy noticed the awed looks people were giving Juvia but shrugged it off. Juvia always got strange looks when they went out.
The two stepped out of the front door and stopped in the parking lot.
“Juvia thinks you look really nice tonight Lucy.”
“Can you stop doing that.” Lucy muttered even though her traitorous cheeks warmed at the compliment.
“Stop doing what?”
“Talking in the 3rd person.”
Juvia tilted her head in confusion. “But you always liked it when I did that. You said it was cute.”
Lucy looked away. “That was 4 years ago Juvia, things change in that amount of time.”
A heavy silence fell before Juvia broke it. “So, you are upset with me.” Her somber tone made this seem more of a statement than a question.
“Well yeah a little.” Lucy let go of the other’s hand while stepping backwards. “Can you blame me? I haven’t heard from you in 4 years Juvia.”
Juvia bit her lip. “I left you a text message.”
Those words made Lucy’s blood boil. Maybe it was the alcohol, combined with the stress she felt all week because of her landlord, but she felt something inside of her snap. “I loved you Juvia and you left without a word!” Lucy’s voice broke as she choked back tears. “You didn’t even say goodbye. Did our time together mean anything to you?”
“Lucy.” A hand reached out to re-intertwine their fingers. Juvia pulled her closer. “Lucy please look at me. Please!”
When Lucy finally faced her, she was surprised to find tears streaming down the bluenette’s face. “I never meant to hurt you Lulu.”
“Then why did you leave me?” Lucy whispered.
“To find myself.” Juvia whispered back. She tugged on Lucy’s hand again and pulled the other woman closer. She didn’t stop until Lucy was fully in her arms.
Then, she pressed her forehead against the blonde’s and started her story.
“Do you remember how we first met?”
Lucy couldn’t help but smile at the memory. “How could I forget? You thought I was flirting with the guy you liked so you followed me around for an entire week screaming that I was your ‘love rival’.”
Juvia hummed with a blush of embarrassment. “And do you remember what happened after that?”
“Yeah. I got tired of you stalking me, so I invited you over for dinner.”
“I never did ask you why you did that.”
“Because I thought you needed it.” Lucy smiled, getting lost in her memories. “It was the start of our first year at university. Everyone was so nervous and trying to make friends. I thought that maybe you wanted friends too, but you didn’t know how to get them.”
The blush on Juvia’s cheeks darkened. “Lucy, that was the first time anyone had ever done anything nice for me. I never had a friend before, and I never received such kindness from a stranger. We formed a bond that night which caused strange thoughts to irrupt within me. I kept thinking that I wanted to be more like you. Kind, caring, compassionate, beautiful. I thought that if I could be all those things, I would finally be happy. I keep trying to get close to you, so I could learn how to be all those things, but then something within me changed. I started to enjoy spending time with you. And then I started to fall in love with you. I thought that someone like you could never fall for someone like me, but to my surprise, you did.” Juvia paused in her story to let out a joyless smile at the shocked look on Lucy’s face. “I was ecstatic when we started going out. I was so in love with you Lucy, please me believe me on that. But then those thoughts start to plague my mind again. I couldn’t understand why such a beautiful and amazing person like you would have feelings for someone like me. I figured it was only a matter of time before you realized you could do better than me. I realized that the only way to better myself would be to go on a soul-searching journey to figure out who I was. I didn’t think I would be gone for long but obviously I was wrong.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this?” Lucy interrupted. She knew that Juvia struggled with insecurities, but she never imagined that it affected her that much. The realization that her girlfriend was fighting internal battles without Lucy being there to offer support hurt her deeply.
“I didn’t want you to realize how imperfect I was.” It was then that Lucy realized she was crying again. “But it doesn’t matter now. It’s been 4 years Lucy and I’m still the broken mess I was when I left. I haven’t changed or grown at all. I thought leaving would save our relationship but all I did was make you hate me.”
“Juvia! Our relationship was never in danger!” Lucy leaned in close to brush her lips against Juvia’s. “And I could never hate you.”
Juvia froze. “But you’re upset with me!”
“Of course, I’m upset with you! You should have told me about all this.” Lucy wrapped her arms around Juvia’s waist. “I’m not perfect either Juvia. No one is. And we’re still young! I don’t think anyone truly knows who they are at our age. And that’s okay because we have plenty of time to figure it out.” She squeezed their hands. “And we could do that together Juvia. You don’t have to do things on your own anymore.”
“Lucy…” Juvia whispered before pulling her into a tight hug. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry Lucy.”
“I know.” Lucy whispered back.
In that moment, everything surrounding the two disappeared. The parking lot, the music from the bar, even the stress that had been bottling up inside of Lucy vanished. At that moment, nothing existed outside the two women trying to get back what was broken years ago.
“Hold me close tonight; even if it is just for tonight. Please Juvia, I need to feel you.”
“Lulu,” Juvia smiled. “I finally have you back in my arms. I’m never letting you go again.”
“Agh!” Levy cried, her knees were weak and tired and they finally buckled under her meager weight. Her body fell to the ground. She managed to lean against a nearby wall and hoped she'd find the energy to stand and continue her trek to find her friends.
Who the hell am I kidding?
Levy felt weary down to her bones. Exhaustion clouded her thoughts. She didn’t have a drop of magic left, not even enough to conjure a small light. The large gash on her side sent pain searing through her body. The rest of the burns and cuts that adorned her skin were mere flickers of pain in comparison, but they had limited her movements too. The main injury, a deep cut on her left side, had been caused by a moment of recklessness from her and she was paying the toll for it now.
She was bleeding out. Heavily.  Every step she took racked her body with agony and a trail of blood grew in her wake. The blood loss kept her from focusing on her objective. She had to reunite with the group, but now there was nothing she could do.
They had gone on a job. It was by no means an easy job, but it had gone horribly wrong, starting with the team getting separated by a cunning tactic from the enemy. The only silver lining was that Levy had been able to subdue one of the dark mages. Apparently, he had been the mastermind of the operation and a powerful illusionist, who had the twisted plan to kill every single Fairy Tail mage with his powers.
She had succeeded, but at a great cost to her mind and body. Her fingers were ice cold against the stone wall. She reached for her gaping wound above her hip, even the blood pouring out was cold. Levy’s hand fell from the makeshift bandage she had pressed into the cut, too weak to keep steady pressure on the injury.
Levy suddenly understood; this was what dying felt like.
Sorrow coursed through Levy’s veins; she had so many regrets, so many things she wished she could have done before her time was over. But there was no time left. No one would hear her final words, just a dark, empty hallway and the sound of the wind crashing against the windows.
At least…at least I won't be a burden anymore.
It was the reason she had been so eager to take this mission. She wanted to prove to her friends that she was a skilled mage. Levy needed to show she could go on risky missions like Lu-chan and come back victorious; she was desperate to prove that she could take care of herself and be a valuable asset to any team like Erza.
Reality taunted her with her naivety. She was weak; she always had been. She was a burden to her friends, to her teammates, to everyone in the guild.
They'll be better off without me. Right
They wouldn't have to worry about her anymore. Right? Many thoughts swirled in Levy’s mind. Jet and Droy, they were such capable mages, on par with other strong wizards from the guild. They would finally be able to take on more exciting missions without having to concern themselves with Levy's well-being; she had always been the weakest link in their team. Right? Gajeel wouldn't have to wait for hours at the guild so he could walk her home at night without fear that she’d be assaulted by some drunken creep on her way to Fairy Hills. She wouldn’t be a burden to him anymore. Right? Even Master would be able to give her spot in the S-class trials to someone worthy of the opportunity. Who was she kidding? She never stood a chance on becoming an S-class mage. Not then, not now, not ever. Right?
They would all be better off without her. Right.
Accepting that gave her soul some twisted calmness as she let her eyes flutter closed. Her friends would be fine, and that was all that mattered anymore.
Levy felt her breathing come slower, her body growing numb. She couldn't even hear the sound of the wind that had howled at her just minutes ago.
It's okay. I can go like this.
She welcomed the hard ground as she slid down the wall. Levy didn't even feel the impact on her cheekbone when the hard tiles grazed her delicate face. She was ready.
And then…
“Levy!!!”
There was someone calling out to her. She couldn't tell who it was or if the voice was even real. It was probably just a trick her mind was playing on her from the blood loss.
“Levy!!!”
There it was again. She tried to use the last of her strength to open her eyes and see who it was, but even that was beyond her capacity.
Suddenly, someone was turning her onto her back, and she felt the faint touch of warm hands on her wound. She ground her teeth in pain, but still she could not will her eyes to open.
“Oi! Levy! Answer me! Open your eyes, please!”
Who was that? Levy couldn't tell who it was, but the sorrow in their voice made her chest tighten painfully for something unrelated to her physical injuries.
Please, don't worry. It's okay.
She felt wetness touch her cheek as small drops splashed onto her face.
“P-please! Open your eyes, Levy. C-can you hear me?!” The voice screamed between sobs. Levy's heart broke in two at the voice’s almost tangible pain.
No, please don't cry. It's alright.
She wanted to comfort the person, to tell them it was alright, to thank them for being there in her final moments. But the darkness’ pull was too strong and Levy was just too tired to fight anymore.
She finally succumbed to the darkness. The last thing she remembered was the voice calling after her over and over and the sound of several footsteps drawing near.
Is she going to be alright?
I-I don't know. Sheila and I did as much as we could, but her injuries were…
She'll make it. I'm sure.
Levy won't give up.
I need you to wake up.
Please Levy-chan, wake up soon.
We miss you so much.
I-If you don't wake up soon I won't let you read my next chapter, d-do you hear me?
I have a fish just for you, Levy.
Come back to us, please…
I need ya to be okay, please...
The first thing Levy noticed when she opened her eyes was the intense white light. It was such a contrast to the darkness of the hallway where she had died.
Is this heaven?
A sharp pain in her side made her to shut her eyes. If she was dead, then all the books she'd read lied about not having to suffer in the afterlife.
She opened her eyes again and they adjusted to the light as she stared at the white ceiling.
Where am I?
Levy noted the soft mattress under her and the warm blanket that covered her body. Then, she recognized the room.
The guild’s infirmary.
How did I get here?
A soft snore on her right finally made her tear her eyes from the ceiling and set her gaze on the orange haired head resting on the mattress just beside her arm.
Jet? Why is he-?
There was another figure resting on Jet’s shoulder, drooling on her old friend’s shirt.
Droy? Why are you guys here?
Then, Levy fully opened her eyes and took in the rest of the room. She remembered being here before. She’d hated every time she had to wake up in the enormous room, it always made her feel so small.
But today, the room didn’t feel so large. Jet and Droy weren't the only ones in here with her.
On the right of the room, Juvia sat on a chair, deep asleep. Her head leaned on Gray’s bare shoulder as his head rested against hers.
To Juvia’s left was Gajeel, he sat cross-legged on the ground with his back against the wall. His eyes were closed but a frown prevailed on his face. Levy could see how restless he was.
On Levy’s left, Lucy slept, her head rested on the mattress and her hand held Levy’s own tight and firm.  Natsu’s spiky pink hair peeked out over the edge of the mattress as he slept on the ground next to Lucy.
In one corner of the room, Wendy, Sheila and Carla lay curled up in a loveseat. The girls’ faces looked exhausted from the intense treatment they’d performed on Levy’s wounds.
At her feet, Levy saw Lily and Happy curled up on either side of her. Passed the end of the bed, Master sat on the table cross-legged. Erza and Cana slept on either side of the table, both facing Levy as if they were keeping a close eye on her.
The more Levy’s eyes explored the room, the more friends she saw gathered, sleeping awkwardly on the floor or leaning against one another.
The Strauss siblings were there, along with Bisca, Alzack and Asuka. Romeo and Macao slept on the floor on the opposite side of the room, with Wakaba barely a step away. Lastly, her eyes landed on Laki and Evergreen, both asleep against Erza’s chair.
W-why are you all here? Wh-what happened?
Levy felt her throat close in anguish as tears gathered in her eyes. Seeing all her friends like this, disheveled and restless, reminded her of her final thoughts in that hallway. It reminded her of how much a burden she was to her friends. Maybe if she had died there like she thought she had, th-they-
A tiny sound escaped her lips, quieter than a gasp, but it was enough to wake the three dragon slayers. Soon, they were on their feet. Without a sound, Wendy rushed to Levy’s bed to stand beside Natsu. He looked down at her with a scrutinizing gaze, so foreign in the fire dragon slayer’s eyes.
Levy looked at Natsu and then at Wendy, who returned her gaze with concern, her eyes full of questions. But she did not say a thing, nor dare to place her hands on Levy’s. It was like she was afraid that if she did anything Levy would succumb back to unconsciousness.
“Yer awake…” Gajeel barely whispered and Levy turned her eyes to meet his. His features showed the same concern as the other mages, but there was apprehension as well in his eyes. He wanted… no, he yearned for this to be true. Over the last few days, everyone had experienced more illusions, aftereffects from the rogue mage’s attack. Some had imagined Levy waking and others saw her die. Gajeel’s eyes pleaded her for some sort of confirmation that this was not another illusion.
She smiled and faintly nodded at him, and Gajeel’s eyes widened. Levy turned back to Wendy who had tears prickling in the corner of her eyes and smiled once again.
“Hi.” Her voice was hoarse and barely audible, but it was strong enough to ease some of the worry and anxiety the three mages were feeling as they all let go of the breath they had been holding in.
“Good to have ya back, Levy!” Natsu said in his cheery voice which unfolded a domino effect on waking the rest of the mages.
“Levy!”
“She’s awake!”
“How are you feeling?”
“Do you need anything?”
“I’ll let the rest of the guild know!”
Soon, everyone was fretting over the fact that she was actually awake. It wasn’t an illusion this time. The quiet room grew loud in no time and everyone greeted her with wide smiles and teary eyes. They offered any sort of comfort they could give, while constantly asking her how she felt. Some cheered, some cried, and some started a meaningless fight in the infirmary before Master intervened.
Levy was utterly confused and slightly overwhelmed by everything that was happening. She honestly thought she had died in that hallway. But in a blink of an eye she felt so alive surrounded by her friends and family.
All of them had different reactions to her awakening, but there was something they all had in common: their faces were full of relief and happiness. All because Levy was still there with them.
That realization vanquished the last traces of the illusion magic from Levy’s mind. She was able to see clearly now, and she realized how wrong she had been to ever think that she’d been a burden to her friends.
Levy was part of this huge family, and she was just as important and valuable as any other member. They all cared for each other and loved her as much as she loved each of them. Looking at all the smiles and joyful tears, even though some were bickering amongst themselves, she could feel their love warming her heart.
How could she have ever thought she was a burden to them? How did she convince herself they would be better off without her? She was part of this family, and they need her as much as she needed them. Heck, they had slept lumped together for several days in that small infirmary, with no one getting any good rest while miraculously managing to not kill each other. Everyone wanted to be there when she woke up. If that wasn’t enough proof of their love for her, then Levy could be considered delusional.
Finally, Levy let the tears slide down her face as emotions flooded her soul.
Lily looked at her with concern for her tears. “Are you alright?” he inquired, and Wendy and Sheila were by her side in an instant. Everyone in the room quieted, worried that they had disturbed her by their antics.
Levy smiled at Lily and then at the rest of the mages. Her smile outshone the bright white light of the ceiling.
“Yes, everything is perfect.”
A/N: This was inspired by a talk I had with a friend and I thought of writing this for anyone who needs to be reminded:
You’re important, you’re valuable, and you’re not a burden. Let yourself feel the love that surrounds you. You matter and there’s people that care for you. Please, never forget that.
Thank you very much for reading this and I hope you enjoyed it! Please like, comment, reblog or send me a pm with your opinions on this story. I’ll be happy to know whether you liked the story or not and what worked for you :) (I also read the cute tags you guys use and love when you also add a GIF ♥)
~ When i come back  ~ (Gruvia One-shot)
So, since i didn't draw anything yet for the final chapter of Fairy Tail i decided to write this One-Shot about how Juvia would react when Gray tell that Team Natsu are going to the 100 years mission, and how it can end on a fight between then for some conflicts.
If you want to see the continuation please tell me ;)
Well it’s a very fluff anyway ;)
I have to admit that i don't like very much when the manga foccus totally on the protagonists, but i wanted to write it after all XD
Enjoy ~
MaLockser / AnimeTopArts
Gray POV
- I understand, well you all are S class mages now, so i can't see any problem. - Master said to our Team. After a year since the end of the alvarez war Master considered our level enough for becoming S class. Of course that it wasn't just for us.
- So we will all leave next week, so prepared your things, we don't know how many time it will take. - erza instructs us.
- Man i am hungry - Natsu immediatelly said. - Hey Lucy let's
- No, you two won't eat in my home again !!! - She exclaims pointing at the pink haired Dragon Slayer and Happy
- Come on Lucy we won't destroy the things again. - Natsu hugs Lucy trying to convince her.
- N-No that won't work again !!
- Don't be so mean to your boy Lucy - I say to her.
- HA ?! He is not- She blushes - And who is you to talk ???
Damn it
- What's the problem ? You didn't said to her yet ? - Natsu asked with a interrogative face.
- He's probably searching for a way to say to her without worry her. - Erza enters on the chat
- Well it's not easy to say to Juvia that i am going on a mission impossible that i don't know when we will came back, mainly if my girlfriend can flood all the cit- I stop talking when i really when i realized what i just said. - I-I mean-
- HA !! You finally admited that she's is your girlfriend !!! - Natsu laughed and pointed to me.
- It was time - Lucy said joyning to Natsu and Happy to tease me and the three was whistling and yelling "Gray liiiiikes Juvia !!!!!"
- Yes, our Gray was growed finally. - Erza was saying with a proud face as she was my mother.
- Your...- I tremblered angry
They just looked at me:
- SHUT UP YOUR DAMN MOUTHS !!!!! - I scream and they just ran away while laughing. TCH !
- Gray-sama ? - I hear the voice of the girl that we was talking talking in the begining
- J-Juvia - I turn at her slowly tremblering
She was with a confused face at my reaction. - Something happened ??
- N-No, then what you want to say ?
Her eyes shined while she joined her hands:
- Juvia wanted to go out somewhere with Gray-sama !!
- I'm sorry but i am tired  today. - I apologize but she seemed disappointed.
- Oh Juvia understands...
-*puts a hand on her head* I really wanted to go out with you, but i really have to rest, i have something important to do next week.
- T-Then can Juvia made your dinner ? - Juvia whispered pocking her fingers and looking at her feets. This girl is incredible, she never give up, i think that's why i falled for Juvia that much. - You don't need if you don't wan-
- It's fine for me.
- Really ?? - She exclaimed hopefully
- Yeah, of course, it's not like i will run or something. So, do you want to go now ??
- Yes !! - We walked at my house as Juvia held my hand, i wasn't fully confortable to showing affection in public but i was getting used to her actions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the dinner we sitted in my couch and started talking like we used to do when we was living together.
- Thank you Juvia. - I held her hand, making she surprised.
- About what ?
- About the dinner, you always cook my favorite food when you come here...
- Haha it's just Juvia likes to cook to Gray-sama and make him happy.
- You know you don't need do that all for making me happy. Just being by my side makes me really happy Juvia. - I said kissing her hand's back.
- Gray...- She whispered softly my name, i loved how she always called me but just saying my name feel...special.
I leaned more next to Juvia but i didn't even need because she already jumped to hug me.
- You're so romantic Gray-sama !!! Juvia loves you so much !! - She exclaimed kissing all my face.
- I know, i know, now calm down lady.
Juvia giggled and moved away.
We stayed a moment in silence when she decided to ask:
- Gray-sama, if you don't mind, what important thing that you will do next week ??
*gulp* She asked it, i knew.
- Y-You see...our team will...err
- ?
- *sights* We will go to the 100 years mission
I saw her face going from chocked from painful. I hate that look.
- Juvia ? - I asked worried but she just turned her head to the other side, i could see her hands tightening each other nervously. I started to fear more yet her reaction.
I thought that she should contradict me, scream, be angry, but she just...
Smiled.
- That's...great !!! - She said on a happy tone, but i could still hear her voice tremblering a bit, i knew Juvia so much now to don't perceive it.
- Really ??
- Y-Yes. Juvia is sure that Gray-sama will manage that mission.
- Juvia i-
- Oh it's getting late i-i have to go. S-Se you tomorrow Gray !! - Juvia stand up of the couch, catching her bag and on a wink she left my house.
- Juvia !!
I walked at my door to see her running on Fairy Hills direction.
I closed my door and leaned my head on it.
- Damn it !!
There was only tow times that she called me by my name and talked in first person: When she was telling me how much she loves me or when she is bothered or serious with something.
Unfortunally that was the second thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn't sleep very well and on the entire way for the guild i was wondering about what i could do to make her happy again.
- Good morning Gra-are you ok ?? - Lucy asked when i sat on the bar's chair and hittle my head the counter.
- You seem that didn't sleep very well, did you ?? - Mira said worried too
- What do you think ? - I answered still with my face down.
- Did you talked with Juvia about the mission ?? - Natsu appeared while wrapping a arm around Lucy'shoulders, who was pretending to don't like the Flame Brain's attention.
- Y-Yes- ARGH! - I exclaimed when i stand up and next get hit on my head. - What the hell ??
- Shut up, what did you say to Juvia, your loser ??? - Erza angryly said.
- I said about the mission and she just left my house without saying nothing. Wait, where is she ?? I was searching for her.
Erza closed the eyes and said serious - She is on Fairy Hills, and won't come today to the guild.
I widened my eyes - What ?? Why ???
- She is sad Gray - Lucy said
- Of course - Natsu participated
- SHIT, but what could i-
- It's your fault, you left her before and now she is afraid to it happen again
- I didn't want to to LEAVE HER !!! - I punched the balcony - You said that she would be secure if she didn't know about the infiltration
Erza was guilty yet about it, and she knew that really was her fault, but even it was for Juvia'sake Gray couldn't stop being mad about it - And in the end it just hurted her more... - I whisper and sat down at the chair again.
- I know, i didn't want to make Juvia sad and alone, but i will find a way to redeem with Juvia, but you need too. - Erza says and put one hand on my shoulder.
- Yeah i know, and i will do it now, Juvia is on her room right ?? - I said standing up and more calm now - Sorry.
- You don't need to, so go to your girl - She gives me a simle and pull me with a slap at the guild entrance. But i didn't had time to complain about it. I HAD TO MEET JUVIA THE MORE SOON POSSIBLE.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I arrived to Juvia's apartment and knocked her door.
- Yes ? - Juvia opened the door and seemed surprised when she saw me.
- Y-Yo, Juv
*SLAM*
-ia  - She closed the door immediatelly. WTH ?!?!
- Gray-sama what are you doing here ??? And how did you entered ??
- Erza let me.
- But why ??
- I wanted to see you - I said sincerely, and it was the truth. I heard her sight at the otherside of the door.
- Juvia is fine.
- No you are not, please open the door.
- But.
- I want to see you.
-*sight* Okay then. - She finally opened the door and let me enter on her room. - Juvia in thankful that Gray-sama was worried with Juvia but there is no need to-
- Juvia look at me, why are you avoiding me ??
- J-Juvia is not. - I hold her chin and softly made her look to me in the eyes
- Yes you are, why are yo... Juvia.
She was with her eyes red, and like me she seemed not sleeped well.
- Juvia, what happened ??
- Nothing. - She looked away again
- Don't lie i know that you're not fine. Is because of the mission ???
She didn't say anything. I messed my hair.
- I knew that you wouldn't like that. If you didn't liked so why did you pretended to be happy yesterday ??
-...
- Juvia
She mutters something but i didn't get what was that:
- What ?
- Juvia don't want to Gray-sama be mad.
- Why would i ?? - I approched a step at her but she just moved away.
- Because you would think that Juvia is so much grooey and needy right ??
- I never said thi-
- Yes you did !! - Juvia looked at me with the eyes watering.  - How many times did you moved away Juvia and said it ?!?
- It was before !!
- But you don't think that it still worries Juvia ??? I am afraid...that you would hate Juvia and leave m-
- That's enough.
- And i am-
- I SAID THAT IS ENOUGH !!! - I catch her arm and put her againt the wall, scaring her. She was crying now and i let free her arm a bit  - Juvia you know that i said it before and i used to an idiot, but now we are dating and i cares about you more than everyone. Don't you believe in me??
She delayed a moment before answer:
- I wanted to do, i REALLY wanted to believe in you !!! But... you always was far away from Juvia, you rarely go on missions or go out with me.
She was right, how many time has since they fight together or go on dates ??
- It's not like i am jealous about the others girls but... you spend A LOT OF TIME MORE with your team...
Before i could say something she continued:
- In the begining i didn't understand why Juvia couldn't be on your team too.
- You was new at the guild that time.
- Yes and Lucy wasn't too ?!? - She stared intensely at my eyes, it was true.
- Juvia just ignored it, that time, but then Wendy and Charl arrived, and you guys put her on your team too, i felt...
- What ??
- I felt...betrayed...
She looked away
- Juvia didn't want to enter on your team just because Gray-sama was there, you all always made memories on your mission, had fun, and even if caused troubles, it seemed so lively. All Juvia wanted was to be part of this, even it was a little bit.
- Juvia. - I open my mouth but she prevents me nodding her head.
- No, you should think that i am a idiot.
- Of course not !!! But you never told me that.
- Yes I DID - She said serious. I gulped scared. - When we was living together and i got a bit drunk i told you that, i you promised that you never would leave me alone again, and even if we came back to live on our owns apartments we would still go in missions together remember ??
Shit, i remember, i really promised her that and next i left her for six months, Juvia seemed read my mind because she next she said :
- Juvia...is not blaming you because the time in Avatar. But when Fairy Tail came back you didn't Kept the promise, i... feel alone Gray.
She said my name again like this, she was really sad and frustrated. But the worse was when she looked at me with her sad eyes.
That was the look that i most HATE entire my life, she was so broken and crying AGAIN because my fault. It always made me hate myself for hurting the girl that i loved.
- And you, never say to me that you love me too.
That was right on my heart. I hug her strong.
- Juvia, i am sorry, i should have realized that...
She stayed a bit on my hug but next she put one hand on my chest moving me away a bit and nodded her had negatively
- You...you always SAY IT !!! - She screams and i jump surprised with her explosion. The only time when she yelled at me angry was when she discovered that i tried to use the Iced Shell to defeat Zeref, she was so thankful for Natsu stopped me again.
- Ju-
- DON'T JUVIA ME !!! - She continues. - I AM TIRED OF ALWAYS BEING THE ONLY ONE THAT INVITE YOU TO SOMETHING, HOLD YOUR HAND, SHOW  AFFECTION...say i love you... - She whispered the last time and looked down letting the tears fall.
-...
- Please just...leave me alone...- She slips her back against the wall and fall down sitting on the ground and disguising her face.
-... I will came back. - I just said and left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One, two, three days and nothing, i hadn't time to think about the mission, i just could thinks about Juvia, her tears and her words. They're all true.
- Ugh my head - I said while putting  a hand against my forehead. I didn't sleep well since our fight. That was unusual to us fight so serious.
I didn't came to the guild those days and i was laid down on my bed and staring at the celling thinking when i heard the doorbell ring.
I was opening the door when i saw Gajeel with a very angry expression, but seeing mine tired face he seemed surprise.
- What ??
- I need to talk with you.
- The only person that i want to talk now it's Juvia.
- So you are at the wrong place. - He said walking at my living room, when i closed the door and sat at my couch.
- I know, but i'm sure that see me it's the last thing that Juvia wants now.
- Actually that's what i am feeling but here i am to give you a punch, or that i would do but seeing that you are so horrible as she is i changed of idea this time. You should be thankful.
- I deserve it, after all i did to her-
- Or better saying that you DIDN'T do to her but should. - He corrected me - You need to fix the things with rainwoman buddy
- She is not a-
- Gray look at the windown, why do you think that i am like this ??
I looked at out there was a storm happening. SHIT And Gajeel was a prove of that since that his hair is dripping and was forming a little water on the floor.
- If i rust i will beat you down Ice.
- I would preffer to you beat me rather than hurt Juvia and cause this.
- Gray being sincerous i never really liked you or salamander
- It's good to hear it - I roll my eyes ironically but him continues.
- But when you started to date my best friend i didn't was sure if you was good enough to her, she loves and prizes everyone that she loves, mainly you, but with the time i saw that you loved her with the same intensity as Juvia, Gray.
- But look what i did.
- Everyone have fights, until me and Levy do. But you hurted her before and now is trying to compensate it. I know that you really love her. You just need to stop being a dumb idiot tsundere and stop with your damn pride man. - I laughed a bit
- I think that's the most friendly thing that you've said to someone that's not Levy.
- Looks who talk. Know stand up from that damn couch before i eat all the metals of here.
- You don't need to say. - I immediatelly stand up and catch my jacket, running at the door  - Thank you Gajeel
- Ge-he -  Him smiles.
When i was leaving and going to Juvia's apartment Gajeel yelled:
- GO AND GET HER, BUT TAKE CARE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BECOME A UNCLE EARLY !!!
I turned my face that was burning:
- SHUT UP IRON HEAD !!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Juvia POV
Juvia was feeling terrible, i tried everything to feel better but even a hot bath didn't worked !!!
Juvia missed so much Gray-sama, i shouldn't have yelled at Gray-sama.
No Juvia, Gray-sama needs to listen it !!!
But Juvia maybe shouldn't have got so angry with him...
But Gray-sama will leave again for a mission and Juvia will be here staying alone !!! - I was rolling in my bed at each phrase.
But Juvia have the guild to spend time while.
But-
Juvia was hugging her Gray-sama's plushie , when she heard steps running.
- Juvia !! It's me !! - I heard Gray-sama's voice throught the door.
- E-Eh ??
- Whatever i will just open the door. - He said before started to open the door, but how did him get a key of Juvia's room ??
- JUVIA !!! - He exclaimed when him opened the door quickly.
- G-GRAY-SA-
Gray-sama hold my head and hited his lips on Juvia's
He stayed like this for a minute when him finally left Juvia.
- What-
- I LOVE YOU.
- E-EH ?!?!? O/////O - Juvia didn't had time to think when him started to kiss entire my face like i always do.
- I love you, i love you, i love you Juvia. - He said every time that him kissed me.
When him calmed down, still holding my face with the both hands i asked still stunned with his suddenly kisses:
- W-Why you did it now ??
- Because i didn't do it before, and i will now.
- Gray-sama...
- I'm sorry, i should have told you it before Juv. - Gray-sama said my name like him liked to call fondly.
- Gray - Juvia kisses him too without holding the tears.
- Please Juvia don't cry, i don't like to see you like this. - He started to clean my tears but there was more appearing
- It's fine Gray-sama, this time is tears of hapiness - I said before pull him to a hug.
We laid down at my bed and stayed hugged, while Gray-sama was fondly stroking my hair.
- Juvia...about that you don't being part of Natsu Team was true ??
- Well...Juvia really felt sad about it but...i think it was better.
- Why ?
- I-If Juvia went on so many missions together, Gray-sama could...get tired of Juvia - She pocked her fingers
- That's a thing that i have to disagree, i won't get tired of you Juvia, even if we spend all the days together Juvia - He held me stronger but at the same time softly.
- That's seems like a proposal to Juvia, Gray-sama.
- Do you think so ? - He said with a funny tone, but when Juvia looked at him Gray-sama was smiling for something.
- W-Wait are you really proposing ?? - I asked exclaiming but him just turned to the another side.
- I didn't say anything ~
- Gray-sama asnwer Juvia, it was or not a proposal ~ ??? - I try to climb at him but Gray-sama turned us to me laid down again with him hugging me and nestling the head on my neck.
- Not so early Juv.
- G-G-G-this is so much for Juvia !!! - Steam was coming out of the head of Juvia
- Wha- Oi Juvia !!!
I was literally melting turning into water when Gray-sama said smiling.
- Gray-sama have to do a CPR on Juvia - He approached to Juvia
- W-Wait Gray-sa-
But him just came back nestling on Juvia's neck
- I am tired now, i will sleep.
- Gray-sama !! - I hitted his arm and pouted.
- Juvia, to compensate the time that i will be away we will spend all the time together until the mission.
- R-Really ?????
- Yeah, do you want go somewhere now ??
- Actually Juvia wants to cuddle with Gray-sama more a bit - I said leaning my head on his chest, listening at his heart beating faster now.
- That's a shame, because Gray-sama wanted to go on a date with Juv-
Man i just realized now that i wrote this much on a One-Shot O.O
Minna should i write a continuation when the mission ends and they come back ?? If you want tell me :)
Thank you for read and see you ~

Fairy Tail’s ending
Well since everyone is giving their predictions on Fairy Tail’s ending. I thought I might as well throw my hat into the ring as well, but I’m going to do something a little different.
Lucy: Finished! I thought I’d never get done.
Lucy - now in her mid to late twenties - looks over the manuscript for her book titled “The Fairy’s Tail” and holds it up to the rising sun. It is now several years after the war with Alvarez.
After showering and dressing for the day Lucy heads out of her apartment. She now owns the building, inheriting it from her former landlord a couple of years prior.
Lucy: Oops! Almost forgot!
She heads back inside and grabs Aquarius’ key from her nightstand. Her manuscript secure in her bag, she makes her way to the Fairy Tail guild hall.
Magnolia has gotten much bigger over they years, becoming one of Fiore’s biggest tourist spots due to Fairy Tail.
Upon entering the guild Lucy is greeted by everyone. After returning their greeting she proceeds to a table near the door which is where Levy is sitting, but not before a small child similar in appearance to Gray runs past her in nothing but his underwear. Juvia is hot on his heels with his clothes in hand, yelling at him to stop running away put his clothes back on.
Levy: Hey, Lu. What’s up? You look pretty tired.
Lucy: I pulled an all-nighter. *she smiles wide* But I finally finished it!
She holds up the manuscript to a shocked Levy.
Levy: Really?! Let me see! Let me see!
Lucy promptly hands it over.
Levy: “The Fairy’s Tail” huh?
Lucy: I know. The title is still a work in process.
Levy: No. I like it. It’s nice and simple. Kind of draws you in. Are you sure you want me to be the first to read it?
Lucy: I made a promise didn’t I? Besides, you’re the best editor I know.
Levy chuckles.
Levy: I’m the only editor you know.
Lucy: That’s not true. Jason is an editor too. I just trust you more.
Levy: Well lucky me.
Suddenly a set of twins - a boy and a girl - resembling Levy and Gajeel pop up from under the table where Levy is sitting.
Twins: Hi, Aunt Lucy!
Lucy: Hey you two. Having fun?
Levy: I thought I told you two not to play around on the floor. Where are Jet and Droy?
Twin 1: Uncle Jet and Uncle Droy said they were tired.
Twin 2: They’re taking a break.
Levy looks over to her teammates. They were both huffing and puffing at a nearby table. When they spotted her they gave her a weak thumbs up, prompting an apologetic smile from Levy.
The twins start fixating on the manuscript.
Twin 1: What’s that, mommy?!
Twin 2: Yeah what’s that?!
Levy: This a book Aunt Lucy wrote. She’s been writing it since before you two were born.
Twins: Wow! Can we see it?
The pair look to Lucy with hopeful eyes. She smiles at them.
Lucy: I don’t see why not. Just don’t be too rough with it ok?
Twins: Ok!
Lucy: Where’s Gajeel?
Levy: On a job with Lily. They probably won’t be back until later this afternoon.
Lucy: Left you with the hard work, huh? *she laughs*
Levy: *sighs then smiles * I’m used to it by now.
Lucy: I’m going to say hi to Mira. Let me know what you think when you’re done.
Levy: Will do. See you later, Lu.
Twins: Bye, Aunt Lucy!
Lucy waves bye to the three and heads to the bar.
Mirajane: Good morning, Lucy.
Lucy: Morning.
Mirajane: Finish the book?
Lucy: Yep. Just handed it over to Levy.
Mirajane: I hope you let me take a peek as well.
Lucy: *smiles* Of course.
Mirajane: I’m looking forward to it.
The two look over the guild.
Juvia has finally succeeded in catching Gray’s mini-clone, bringing him back to the ice wizard in question, who coincidentally was also in his underwear, who was arguing about something with Lyon while Meldy looks on with a smile.
Elfman and Evergreen - who have been married for around a year or so - are also arguing about something or other while Lisanna and Freed try to keep the peace.
Upstairs Fairy Tail’s new guild master, Laxus is talking to Makarov, Gildarts, Sting, Kagura - the new master of Mermaid Heel - and Ichiya - the new guild master of Blue Pegasus.
Wendy - now resembling her Edolas counterpart - and Carla are talking with Cana and Chelia at the bar.
Asuka - now in her early teens - is showing off her newest gun to her parents.
Romeo - who slightly resembles Natsu at the start of the manga with his clothing and wild hair - is talking to his father and Wakaba.
Warren - who has become rich from selling his Lacrima Phone designs - and Max - who is now in charge of Magnolia’s tourism board - are also speaking about something.
Finally the two of them spot Erza and Jellal - now a free man along with the rest of Crime Sorciere - sitting and talking near the stage.
Mirajane: Time sure flies doesn’t it?
Lucy: Yeah. It feels like only yesterday that I joined Fairy Tail. *she looks down at her guild mark, remembering all the adventures she had and the people she met over the years.*
Mirajane: Is it just me or is someone missing?
Lucy: Now that you mention it. Yeah. Where’s-
Just then the guild doors burst open, revealing Natsu and Happy.
Natsu and Happy: We’re here!
Lucy and Mirajane smile.
Mirajane: He certainly knows how to make an entrance.
Lucy nods in agreement.
A child with pink spiky hair similar to Natsu’s pokes their head from behind his leg. When they look to the bar their eyes widen in joy.
Child: Mama!
The child takes off running, passing the bar and leaping right into a smiling Erza’s arms.
Erza: Hello, sweetheart.
Natsu and Happy approach them.
Natsu: Hey, Jellal.
Jellal: Hello, Natsu.
Erza: What took you so long? You were supposed going to be here an hour ago.
Natsu rubs the back of his head nervously.
Natsu: Sorry. Our fishing trip took longer than we thought.
Happy: Yeah. We’re sorry.
Child: Mama! Mama! I caught a really big fish today!
Erza: Really? How big was it?
The child stretches their arms as far as they can.
Erza: That’s amazing, honey. We’ll cook it for dinner when we get home.
Child: Yay!
Lucy’s eyes meet Natsu’s and they both smile as wide as they can. When he starts to walk over to the bar, Gray crashes into him.
Natsu: What the hell was that for?!
Gray: Don’t start yelling at me! It was Lyon’s fault!
Natsu: You did that on purpose!
Happy: Uh oh.
Erza: Both of you stop this now. It is far too early in the morning.
Gray: You calling me a liar, ash breath?!
Natsu: If the shirt fits, ice for brains!
Child: Go, Papa!
Erza: Don’t encourage him.
Gray: That’s it!
Natsu: Bring it!
The two start brawling. Erza sets down her and Natsu’s child and tries to break up the fight, but is pulled into it instead. In a matter of moments nearly the entire guild is fighting. Even the guild masters start to get in on the action.
Lucy watches the entire scene with a smile on her face as she dodges flying bodies.
Lucy: Guess some things will never change. No matter how much time has passed.
Fade to white.

Closer now...
And closer still…
Then it’s closer to her
‘Til she knows you’re there
Lucy leaned against the wooden countertop attached to the wall, trying to look around inconspicuously as Cana poured a quarter of a bottle of inappropriate liquid into her half full bottle of orange juice, swirling the contents until she was satisfied. Tucking the thin flask back into the pocket of her brown khakis the brunette gave Lucy a playful wink, Lucy rolling her eyes and shoving away the outstretched bottle Cana offered her. She didn’t feel like risking getting kicked out of camp on the first day. She looked around the room much more relaxed now, taking in the long rows of clear stained wooden tables and high domed ceilings, all designed for excellent acoustics within the large space.
One never knew when or where an impromptu sing-a-long or rap battle could happen at Fairy Tail.
The single door beside the canteen was pulled open suddenly, the unexpected noise drawing Lucy’s attention. Cana had started walking over to where Juvia and Levy sat already, abandoning Lucy as she stared dreamily at the large glass windows on the East and West sides of the building. Lucy’s curiosity was piqued when she watched Gray and Loke enter, both agitated and with a growing tension forming between the two guys. She started to walk towards them to greet them, but her brow furrowed as she noticed the two had stopped walking just inside the door and were talking in a conspiratorial hush. Were they arguing? Loke was the first to notice Lucy’s approach, and immediately ended whatever fight he had been having with Gray, large smile forced and swagger exaggerated as he walked towards Lucy.
“My Sunshine!” he purred as he slung his arm around Lucy’s shoulder, “Seeing you always eases my soul, as though you are the brightest star and I am but a traveler lost at sea.”
Lucy shrugged off his arm with an eyeroll, snorting audibly at Loke’s dramatic declaration. “Why don’t you save that for a girl it might actually work on, that one was pretty good.” Lucy teased, any annoyance she might have felt at his statement smoothed over by her good mood carried over from meeting her cabin mates.
“Not as pretty as you, babe.” Loke shot back, lips curling in a suggestive smile and face leaning in towards hers. Lucy planted a hand firmly on the side of his face, smushing his cheek and lips as she shoved him away.
“Hey Gray.” Lucy greeted as the raven haired boy finally strolled towards where Lucy and Loke stood. He grunted in reply, and Lucy raised an eyebrow as she looked over him. “Forgot something?” she asked innocently, smirking at his annoyed expression. She knew him too well, and she knew that was his I-feel-better-but-don’t-want-to-show-it-because-I-never-showed-I-was-upset-in-the-first-place grimace. Stupid emo boy.
“Ha ha,” he said sarcastically, bumping her shoulder and giving her a small grin as he passed her to walk in the direction that Cana was waving. Lucy’s eyes lit up and she lifted a finger beside her head as she spoke.
“Oh that’s right!” she chirped, “We have some new friends I want you guys to meet!”
She grabbed Loke and Gray’s wrists, dragging them behind her as she walked quickly to the table where her friends sat. Cana was harassing a bright red Juvia, Levy snickering behind her hand as she watched her cabin mates’ antics.
“Guys, meet Juvia and Levy! Girls, this is Loke,” Lucy said, releasing her friend’s wrist and motioning at him with her hand, “and this is Gray.” Lucy yanked on Gray’s wrist so he moved from his half hidden spot behind her shoulder to be in full view of the group of girls.
“Definitely Pete meets Edward.” Levy said as she looked over Gray, sending Cana and Lucy into a loud fit of snorts and laughter, even Juvia tittering behind a pale hand before she collected herself with a delicate cough. Loke shot them an amused glance while Gray was torn between glaring at Lucy and fighting back a light blush.
“I’m sure Juvia wouldn’t mind if Gray got that spread in Rolling Stone.” Cana drawled, sending the others into another round of giggles, although Juvia’s laugh sounded a little confused. A musical fanatic probably wouldn’t understand such a pre-teen ‘bad boy’ reference.
“Pete meets… hey, do you mean Pete Wentz?” Gray asked in confusion before a spark lit behind his eyes, “Wait, are you talking about ‘The Fabulous Life And Secret Torment’ interview? In Rolling Stone?”
“Erm.” Levy gaped, but it was too late. Gray was spiraling back into middle school. His former self was taking over.
“Issue 1012,” Gray continued, eyes wide in wonder as he looked to a fonder past. A past which featured a heavy use of eyeliner. “March 2007. I waited in line for fifteen minutes at the corner store just to buy it. Classic. You know that interview happened like a day before the release of Infinity On High? Man, iconic.”
The group stared at him in stunned silence as Gray signed to himself, nodding as if he’d wrote the article himself.
“Juvia thought it was the MCR Gray yearned to be a part of.” Juvia frowned in confusion.
“Oh sweetie, if their songs titles have more words than the number of years their fans have lived then he’s fantasized about being with them.” Cana soothed, patting Juvia’s head, the girl in turn nodding in serious understanding.
“But sadly it isn’t 2007 anymore, so Gray has to find someone else who understand the consequences of being deeply misunderstood.” Loke smirked before turning his attention to Juvia, “Say, how good are you with eyeliner?“
Gray turned a vibrant shade of pink, gritting his teeth to keep from punching Loke at Lucy’s pointed look.
“I can do my own eyeliner, thank you very much.” He ground out.
The group erupted into laughter. Nearby tables cast them concerned looks.
“Wait! No! That’s not what I-” Gray stammered.
“Juvia thinks it is impressive that Gray is so skilled with make-up,” Juvia’s voice cut through the laughter, “Juvia wishes she had Gray’s skill. She can never get the wings even.”
“Hey, I’m sure he’ll be happy to teach ya Juvy.” Cana snickered as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
Juvia’s face brightened suddenly, Lucy following her gaze and looking in the direction she was waving at, her jaw dropping as she realized who their sweet and innocent friend was drawing towards them. A tall boy who looked like he was already in his third year of university stalked towards them, long black hair wild and intimidating. Well, all of him was intimidating. He was well over 6 foot, maybe pushing 6 and a half, and was barely fitting in his tight black tank top, matched with torn and abused jeans and combat boots. His face was littered with eyebrow and nose piercings, his ears glinting silver when his dark hair shifted around them.
Lucy supposed he could be handsome if it weren't for the fact that his scowl could make flowers die.
He stopped at the edge of the table, eyes shooting to Gray and Loke with mild disgust before he looked at Juvia. “Really, your first time makin’ friends and these idiots are the ‘chosen ones’?”
Juvia pouted at his bored voice, Lucy balking at the deepness and smoothness of it. “Juvia thinks Gajie is being too rude to her new friends.” Juvia chastised, standing from her spot on the bench seat and walking towards her friend, her arms looping around his heavily muscled one so it was crushed to her chest. Lucy tensed as she waited for the boy to jerk his arm back from Juvia. Instead he rolled his eyes, his scowl softening to a grimace when he looked down at her.
“How many times do I hafta tell ya not to call me that?” He questioned dryly, something like amusement or fondness growing in his red eyes as Juvia looked up at him, eyebrows knit as she thought.
“Gajie, Juvia was wondering if you still travelled with your emergency eyeliner?” She ignored his previous question, blinking up at him innocently. ‘Gajie’ spit out a sharp squawk, cheeks turning a soft pink and eyes glaring down at Juvia. He left his arm in her hold still, though.
“I haven’t in years, Rain Woman. And the name’s Gajeel.” he grumbled, Juvia sighing deeply and looking down.
“Now Juvia will be unable to learn Gray’s amazing skills.”
“Oi!” Gajeel barked, turning a heated glare on Gray as he shifted his arm -and Juvia- closer to him protectively. “The fuck is Juvia goin’ on about, Stripper?” he asked menacingly, Gray and Loke swallowing sharply under his deathly look before Gray replaced his mask of indifference and sneered at the other boy.
“Nothing, ‘Gajie’.” He mocked, Lucy looking between the two in confusion.
“Call me that again and you’d best be sleepin’ with one eye open for the next two months.” he warned in a low voice. Lucy looked at Cana as she became even more confused, Cana shrugging her shoulders as well.
“Does Gajie know Gray?” Juvia questioned, unaffected by the dangerous aura radiating off of the boy whose arm she was hugging. “Why didn’t he tell Juvia he was friends with the MCR models.” She pouted, her eyes sparking as Gray choked. “Or did you two meet in the ‘pit’ Gajie is always texting Juvia about?”
Gajeel sighed heavily and removed one hand from where it was shoved in his pocket, fingerless studded glove resting on top of Juvia’s head as he patted her hair. “No, Waterworks, I’m sharing a cabin with Dumb and Dumber here, and my idiot cousin.” He explained bluntly.
“You’re Dumber.” Loke interjected, looking at Gray flatly. Gajeel shot Loke a look, who just raised his hands and slipped into a spot beside Cana. Everyone else settled into the benches so Gajeel was left at the front of the table with Juvia clinging to him. He tensed suddenly when he realized everyone was staring at him, Lucy’s skilled eyes -from having to decipher Gray’s basically monotonous facial expressions- picking up on the tightness around his lips and shoulders. She smiled at him comfortingly, Gajeel blinking blankly at her. Lucy’s smile waned until he looked away, the pink tips of his ears showing through his black mane of hair.
“Yer both morons.” Gajeel frowned, recognition flashing in his eyes when Juvia led him to the bench seat beside Levy, who sat at the end of her side of the table. The girl was pointedly stabbing at a piece of lettuce and ignoring the looming boy beside her. Lucy’s eyes widened as she watched Gajeel’s face crack into a large smirk when he leaned into Levy’s personal space. “Almost didn’ see ya there Shrimp.” he teased, Juvia clapping her hands delightedly on the other side of Gajeel.
Levy looked coolly out of the corner of her eye at Gajeel, whose smirk widened more to reveal pointed canines. Until Levy’s fork somehow found it’s way into his hand. “Oops.” Levy said with false apology, Gajeel rubbing his hand with a wry and impressed glint in his eyes.
The group fell into easy chatter, Loke hitting on Levy and Juvia and failing hard, Juvia staring at Gray in awe before looking away just as Gray looked at her with hidden curiosity, Gajeel remarking on Levy’s tiny size just for the blue haired girl to hurt him in some ‘accidental’ fashion. Lucy couldn't help but beam as she watched her friends, new and old blending seamlessly as they picked at the food on the table.
“Decided not to go sulk by the river like a pussy?” Gajeel asked suddenly, grinning over Lucy’s shoulder where an unamused snort sounded.
“Fev’s string broke as I was walking over. Got your text and decided food wouldn't be a shitty substitute.” Lucy looked over her shoulder at the boy who was talking, recognizing him as the stranger from before. His dark beanie still covered his hair, green eyes twinkling with mischievousness as he countered Gajeel’s comment effortlessly.
Lucy looked away as she felt a flutter in her stomach. Maybe camp food didn’t agree with her.
“Who’s this cutie?” Cana interrupted, eyeing the boy behind Lucy as she took a swig from her ‘orange juice’. She smiled coyly, leaning forward and pushing her cleavage together. Lucy rolled her eyes and chased a chickpea around her plate before pushing her fork into it violently. So what if Cana was looking for a new fling this summer, it was none of Lucy’s business that the cute guy behind her had caught her friend's attention. Even though he had talked to her first...
“O-oh umm,” she heard behind her, Lucy lowering her head and glaring at the half of the chickpea that had flown from her fork. So what if his nervous and flustered voice sounded even cuter than his confident one. She looked over her shoulder again, head turning without permission. Her expression lightened considerably when she saw his uncomfortable look, eyes wide and looking at Gajeel for help. Not that Lucy cared that he wasn't interested in Cana. Because that would be petty. And Lucy was a good friend. Yes. And good friends encouraged one another to try and kiss cute people. Wait, kiss?
“Natsu! Juvia is glad to see you again! Are you still hallucinating about your girlfriend in the shower?” Juvia asked brightly, eyebrows pinching in concern as she finished speaking. Natsu made a high noise as his face turned bright red while all three boys at the table burst into loud and raucous laughter. “Gajie was quite concerned for his cousin’s mental health.” She continued, pouting as she looked around the table. “Natsu’s mental illness is no laughing matter.” She mumbled to herself, Lucy looking at Natsu critically and taking pity on him when she noticed his clenched fists and raised shoulders.
She couldn't help the giggle that bubbled in her throat when Natsu looked at her, his eyes bright and clear and captivating Lucy. She didn't think she had ever seen such a pretty green before. He looked away quickly, hands stuffed in the pockets of his open, faded-red hoodie. She smiled when she recognized the band name on the shirt under it, opening her mouth to ask him about it when she was cut off.
“Really? Jimmy Eat World?” Gray sneered, Lucy looking at him in shock. “I bet you just love the song The Middle, don't you?”
Lucy narrowed her eyes at his condescending tone, looking up at Natsu when he made a low ‘tch’ sound. “You think you're so great, I bet you tell everyone you were kissin' the Way brothers asses before Welcome To The Black Parade because everyone hasta know you were ‘tragic’ before it was cool.” Natsu shot back, lip curled up and eyes hard as he looked at Gray. Lucy had to clap a hand over her mouth to stop from snorting, Natsu looking at her in surprise at the sound. His expression softened and he grinned crookedly at her, Lucy struggling to compose herself again.
“Well I like Jimmy Eat World. And The Middle is my favourite song.” Lucy said pointedly, holding Gray’s cold stare until he looked at the table and stole one of Cana’s fries. She held her hand up to Natsu and smiled her most friendly smile. “My name’s Lucy, but you already knew that,” she said teasingly. Natsu blushed and tugged at the white scarf wrapped loosely around his neck before taking her hand and giving it a firm shake, his skin warm and rough against Lucy’s.
“I'm um, Natsu. And I don't have a girlfriend!” Natsu rushed out, eyes widening in horror when he realized what he had said. Lucy giggled again. Natsu relaxed and grinned at her laugh, his look melting and making Lucy blush the longer they stared at one another. Both jumped apart when Cana cleared her throat, Lucy laughing nervously and Natsu scratching the back of his head as they tore their hands from the other’s. Lucy stuck her tongue out at Cana’s raised eyebrow and approving smirk. Gray glared harder at Cana’s fries and Lucy worried they might actually freeze over.
“What happened to your stupid sweater?” Gray asked coldly, Natsu’s mouth twisting as he faced him.
“I fixed the thermostat, so now I don't have to worry about freezin’ my fucking dic-” he grinned victoriously, stuttering as he looked at Lucy again, mouth frozen mid word.
Loke and Gajeel both groaned loudly to themselves, Lucy looking between Natsu and Gray at the obvious inside argument.
“Fucking overgrown lizard.” Gray hissed, Natsu looking away from Lucy once again.
“Ice Princess. You gonna sing Let It Go at karaoke or something?”
Cana burst into loud laughter, thumping Gray on the back as she howled. Gray was thoroughly unimpressed.
“Well at least I don't go garbage diving for all my clothes.” Gray smirked, looking Natsu up and down condescendingly. Natsu tensed again, eyes narrowed as he growled back.
“Like you even wear clothes you perverted stripper.”
“Really, watch who you're calling perverted you fucking mol-”
“Enough.” Gajeel said suddenly, Gray biting his tongue at the warning tone. The table sat in awkward silence for a few seconds before Lucy was reminded of her growing anger at Gray when he made a face at Natsu.
“Well I think his clothes suit him,” she mumbled defensively, looking at her platter and stabbing another innocent chickpea. “There's no need to be so rude.” She looked up at Gray when she heard a dry snort, Lucy’s lips twisting down at his cruel smirk.
“Yeah, ‘cus he’s trash too.”
“Gray Fullbuster that is it. You are acting like such a pretentious asshole right now and I don't care what you two are fighting about but Juvia is our friend and he is Juvia’s friend so you will be nice to our new friend.” Lucy seethed, Gray flinching back and lower lip puffing out by a fraction, looking back at the fries as he stole yet another. Lucy rolled her eyes. Great, now Gray was pouting.
“And you,” She turned to Natsu, who also flinched back under the remainder of her glare. “Stop encouraging him.”
“Aye sir.”
Lucy blinked at his quick reply, shaking her head with a sigh as she looked away. She met Gajeel’s impressed look before looking at Cana, who was tugging on Gray’s ear, pulling him across the table by the ear. He was hunched uncomfortably as Cana whispered something harshly to him that was making Gray pale more than usual. Levy and Juvia wore matching looks of concern. Loke just looked bored.
“Why don’tcha take a seat there Flame Head,” Gajeel offered gruffly, Natsu looking around the table and finally eyeing the only available spot beside Lucy. He looked at Gray, a sort of unspoken conversation happening between the two for some reason before giving a small smile.
“I think I'll just head back to the cabin with a sandwich or something, I don't wanna be any more trouble...” He excused, smile becoming strained as he shoved his hands back into his pockets.
“You're not any trouble Natsu,” Lucy said firmly, speaking over Gray’s unintelligible murmur. Ass.
“Nah, I gotta go check on Lily and Happy anyway.” He took another step back, Lucy looking up at him and ignoring Loke’s comment on ‘devil spawn’.
“Sit.” She ordered, but Natsu remained standing awkwardly, pulling nervously at the sleeves of his hoodie.
“C-Can I erm, go get some food first?” He stammered.
“Oh, of course!” Lucy blushed, realising she may have come across as a little bossy, “Help yourself! We’ll still be here when you come back!”
Natsu looked as though he were doubtful of that fact, but he nodded anyway before shuffling away. Lucy watched him go, shoulders hunched and hands stuffed into the pocket of his ripped jeans as though he were trying not to draw attention to himself.
“Wow Lu, eager much?” Cana’s snicker drew Lucy’s attention back to the table.
“It’s not like that!” Lucy flushed, “I just- he… seems kind of familiar is all.”
Her mind flitted back to earlier, when she’d bumped into him on her way out of the auditorium. The way he’d looked at her… and he said her name like it was a prayer. Even remembering it sent shivers down her spine. She wondered again how he’d known her name before she told it to him.
“Didn’t you do volunteer work with that special needs school last year?” Gray pondered, frowning when he received a slap to the wrist from Cana as he was caught stealing another of her fries, “Maybe he was a student there and that’s where you remember him from.”
“What is your problem?” Lucy hissed, kicking his shin under the table. His answering yelp of pain was grossly exaggerated, “Why do you hate him so much? You’ve only known him for a few hours.”
“Gray’s just a little worried that Natsu’s desired cabin temperature will thaw his frozen heart.” Loke mused as he closely inspected the piece of lettuce impaled on his fork, “Or, y’know, that Natsu is hot enough to do it himself.”
Gray looked more horrified than he had when he and Lucy had watched The Human Centipede on Halloween last year at Loke’s words. Their orange haired friend simply shoved his fork in his mouth, the lettuce having passed his inspection. Loke finally caught Gray’s look and flashed him a green-flecked grin.
“Juvia wishes she could thaw Gray’s frozen heart.” Juvia pouted from beside Gajeel.
“My heart isn’t frozen,” Gray scowled, “And you’re way hotter than Natsu.”
Juvia squeaked as Gray’s face turned as red as the tomatoes in Loke’s salad. Cana and Lucy shared a look of delighted surprise while Gajeel and Levy looked a mix of amused and uncomfortable. Gajeel holding majority of the latter in his expression, as Lucy no doubt suspected he was losing circulation in his arm by now.
Natsu took a deep breath as he walked back to the table, eyebrows knitting as he joined mid sentence.
“Who’s hotter than me?” Natsu questioned, adopting his previous stance of standing awkwardly by the table, this time with a tray stacked with food.
“No one!” Lucy blurted, the same time Gray drawled ‘Everyone’.
Natsu stood there chuckling nervously as he glanced at everyone seated, avoiding Lucy’s eyes for fear his face would literally catch on fire. There was an awkward moment of silence during which Juvia- still attached to Gajeel’s arm- narrowed her eyes at him and hissed something that sounded distinctly like ‘Love Rival’.
When his eyes finally met Lucy’s once more, she smiled at him brightly and patted the space beside her. Natsu gulped, mustering his courage as he sat down.
Don’t be weird, don’t be weird, don’t be weird, rang through his head like a mantra.
He sat in silence, nervously poking at his food. Gajeel always told him he was a monster when he ate. He figured a sweet girl like Lucy wouldn’t want to see something so… uncouth. That’s what Grandine had called it right? Something about no manners. He was too nervous to eat anyway.
He dared a glance at her out the corner of his eye. He couldn’t believe this was real. That he was sitting right next to her. At Fairy Tail. Maybe he’d have the best summer of his life and during the final performance the beat of the song would turn into the steady thrum of one of those hospital machines, and really he’d just been in a coma the whole time. That seemed a whole lot more likely than finding her again and her actually liking him.
He chanced another look, just to make sure she was still there. Green eyes met brown. Natsu quickly looked away.
“Can I ask you a question?” Lucy turned to him, setting her fork down and pushing her plate away.
Natsu sat up straighter, keenly aware of her focus on him. He pushed his own plate away despite having yet to eat one bite.
“Sure.” He offered her a weak smile.
Don’t be weird, don’t be weird, don’t be weird.
This was it. He was going to have an actual conversation with her. Not an imagined one. He hadn’t had the heart to tell her he’d already known her name when she’d offered her hand earlier. She knew he already knew her name. Oh god, what if she thought he was a stalker or something? Girls like her probably had their fair share of stalkers. Oh god oh god oh god, what had that icy bastard told her while he’d been in the lunch line? What if she didn’t even remember bumping into him before. She didn’t remember making out with him, why would she remember him gaping at her? Oh god he didn’t think he could take her forgetting him twice-
“Are you alright?” Lucy frowned at him.
“W-Was that the question?”
“No,” A furrow appeared between her brows as she leaned a little closer to him, “You’ve just gone awfully pale all of a sudden...”
He was dimly aware of Gray and Loke snickering in the background, but for the most part the sound was drowned out by the ringing of his pulse in his ears.
This was it. This was what a heart attack felt like.
“Ah yes,” A skimpily clad brunette sitting two down from Lucy leaned across the table to nod at him in deep understanding, “That was my exact face when I first got a stellar view of the twin peaks.”
Natsu’s mind groped for understanding until the brunette made a honking motion with her hands in front of her own chest. Natsu looked back to Lucy in confusion, then his eyes moved of their own accord.
It was just for a split second, but when his eyes found hers again he knew. He knew that she knew. They both leaned back slightly, cheeks blazing pink. He was dead. His heart attack had killed him and now he was in hell. Pure, mortifying, hell.
Lucy shielded her chest before whirling on her friends.
“Cana!” She screamed, “What have I told you about-”
But Natsu didn’t hear the rest of Lucy’s protests as he felt a jolt go through the table, his tray of food moving away from him with the force. He looked up to find Gray twisting the handle of his fork, working it deeper into the wood of the table as he glared at him.
“You’re dead,” Gray seethed, his words uttered in a quiet but deadly calm. Natsu heard them loud and clear even over Lucy’s shouting, “You so much as look at-”
“Gray please,” Loke sighed from between the still yelling Lucy and Cana, “When they’re that nice you can’t blame a man for peeking.”
“Loke!” Lucy and Gray yelled in unison.
“Juvia knew chivalry wasn’t dead.” Juvia sighed dreamily, “Gray is a true gentleman.”
“How can he be a gentleman when he’s not even wearing a shirt!” Natsu protested.
“You say that like I don’t threaten guys who look at you all the time.” Gajeel frowned at Juvia, who finally let go of his arm to rest her chin in her hands and stare dreamily into the distance.
“Juvia wishes Gray was her protector.”
This spurred another round of protests from Lucy, who insisted Gray was not her protector. Gajeel expressed his disbelief on Juvia’s deaf ears, claiming the girl was ungrateful. Cana and Loke were placing bets on which of Lucy’s assets would distract Natsu next, while Natsu demanded to know why Gray was willing to murder him for glancing- which he stated, many times, was unintentional- at Lucy’s chest while others were freely allowed to discuss it in depth.
The ruckus of their table drew many curious stares, all of which Levy noticed as she watched the mess unfold before her.
“You’re crazy.” She whispered to herself, “All my new friends are crazy.”
Their whole table became so engrossed in their arguing that they didn’t notice the steady rise of their ‘indoor voices’ or the red-head stepping up to the announcer's podium on the other side of the room.
“SILENCE.”
The voice roared over the speaker, stopping not just their table but all the others dead. Lucy’s stomach filled with dread as everyone’s eyes turned to the redhead behind the podium, only to find that she was glaring directly at their table.
“Shit.” Lucy heard Gajeel whisper.
This was promptly followed by Natsu.
“Shit shit shit shit shit.” He whispered to himself.
Lucy turned towards him to find him hurrying out of his seat, his green eyes wide with fear and never leaving the podium. She followed his gaze to find not only the red haired girl making her way towards their table, but Gajeel practically crushing Levy -who was frozen in place in fear- in his attempt to flee his seat.
The moment Gajeel was free he ran, head ducked as he darted through the tables as though that would do anything to hide his bulky six foot and heavily pierced frame. She turned back to find Natsu crouched by the table ready to flee. He seemed to be hesitating.
He held his hand out to her cautiously.
“Come with me if you want to live.” He whispered dramatically.
Lucy barely had time to squint at him in confusion before Natsu squeaked- actually squeaked- in fear and scuttled away.
When she turned back to the table, her friends shared her look of immense confusion. Levy was staring down at the table, avoiding any and all eye contact.
Gray shrugged the expression off with a roll of his eyes.
“Pussies.” He snorted in amusement.
A shadow fell over their table.
“Disgusting.” The red haired girl scowled as she stood at the head of their table. “You. What is your name?”
She pointed a finger at Gray, who swallowed nervously. He was trying not to look scared, but Lucy could see right through him. The poor boy was terrified.
Lucy didn’t blame him. Intimidation was practically rolling off this girl in waves. She seemed a little older than the rest of them. Her stance was powerful, chest sticking out slightly as though to show off the Fairy Tail logo on the breast of her t-shirt off with pride. Lucy gulped as she read the words Camp Enforcer embroidered there.
“G-Gray Fullbuster?” Gray answered in a timid voice.
“You don’t seem very sure about that.” The girl narrowed her eyes at him. Lucy watched her carefully as the girls head shot up and looked around the room. “Natsu! Gajeel! Don’t think I don’t hear you snickering out there. I will find you!”
Lucy heard a distant crash near the back entrance accompanied by shouts of ‘Save your own ass Flame Brains!’ from what she assumed was her new friends mad dash for freedom. She was suddenly very glad she’d stayed as the redhead’s eyes blazed with anger. The consequences seemed worse for running.
“As for you,” She addressed Gray again, “Do you always use such vulgar language when there are children present?”
“Ah- I- Erm-” Gray stammered.
His chest was heaving and he was beginning to sweat. Lucy and Loke shared a worried look. Gray looked like he was on the verge of an asthma attack, even though he hadn’t had one in over eight years. Lucy still carried an inhaler with her, just in case, but it was back in her cabin.
The first call to the Camp Paramedics was postponed however, when Juvia unleashed the full force of her smile.
“Erza!” She beamed, “Juvia is so happy to see you!”
The redhead- Erza- turned her gaze to Juvia. Her anger seemed to dissipate somewhat at the joy in Juvia’s smile.
“Juvia,” Erza greeted with a nod, “I’m glad to see you’ve made some friends. Albeit disrupting ones.”
“We’re very sorry about that ma’am!” Lucy pipped up, seizing the chance to get into the ‘Camp Enforcers’ good books, “It won’t happen again.”
“I can assure you it won’t,” Erza smiled pleasantly, “Not after I catch those two swine. Nice to see you as well Levy.”
Without any further chit-chat, Erza went on her merry way. Lucy could have sworn there was a skip in her step as she went off in the direction Natsu and Gajeel had fled.
“I could have died,” Gray wheezed with a hand to his chest, “I should be dead.”
“You’re so dramatic,” Cana drawled, “Juvia would have given you mouth to mouth, there was never any danger.”
“Would Gray like some CPR?” Juvia questioned the dark haired boy eagerly, shuffling a little closer to him.
“Erm, I can breathe just fine on my own, thank you.” Gray cringed a little as Juvia wrapped her arms around his.
“Juvia can’t.” She sighed as she rested her chin on Gray’s shoulder, “Gray takes Juvia’s breath away.”
The rest of the table made gagging noises, but Loke looked impressed.
“Damn,” The orange haired boy muttered beside Lucy, “That one was smooth.”
A sharp staticky sound filled the room, drawing all eyes back to the podium at the front of the cafeteria. As sudden as the noise had been it was cut off, unintelligible frustrated mutterings and curses coming from the seemingly empty stand. Lucy watched as two bells came into view, attached to the ends of a purple and orange stripped court jesters hat -Lucy assumed that's what it was supposed to be anyway. More agitated murmurs floated through the air until finally the head of the camp director Makarov popped into place.
“Listen up brats,” he began, white moustache twitching in a scowl as he eyed the direction Erza had walked -skipped- off in. His expression softened to a wry smile when he looked around the room and at the expressions of the teenagers around him. “So here we are, yet another start to Camp Fairy Tail.
“I just want to wish everyone an unofficial and Fairy Tail welcome, and I hoped all you youngsters enjoyed our opening ceremony, courtesy of our very own Gildarts Clive.” A small round of applause scattered through the campers, Lucy smiling at Makarov’s warm grin at the sound. “Yes, an amazing force of Fairy Tail when he remembers to come back home from his tours. Oh shut up you know it’s true you walking wrecking ball.” Cana snorted as the hushed sounds of Makarov bickering with her father came through the microphone, giving a small wave when Gildarts beamed over and swung his arm through the air in exaggerated motions.
Makarov released a heavy sigh, muttering under his breath before he forced a large smile on his face and continued speaking.
“As all of our returning family know, the first week is a settling in week. The camp directors and I want to let all you brats get used to the layout and the independence of the camp, as well as to meet some of your fellow campers.
“This year’s week themes will be posted by the end of the day today and the pairings for the first week will be picked by the councilors, both from your submitted bio’s and from our watching you interact. Most pairings will stay within the age groups, but sometimes we like to see one of our older children mentor the younger ones. There will also be a karaoke night one of these evenings, please see our lovely Mira Jane for more details.” Makarov scratched the side of his head, eyes closed and brows knitted in thought. Lucy snuck a glance at Cana and Loke, the only two in the original group who had been here previously -granted it had been years ago. Both were smiling fondly as they looked up at the podium, Makarov still capturing their attention like a grandfather who was telling the same story about walking up the hill both ways before handing out a piece of candy. Or a beer, in Cana’s case.
A loud crash and a high pitched wail came from outside the cafeteria, followed by what Lucy assumed was a war cry. Makarov’s eyes opened tiredly and his shoulders drooped, Lucy thinking she saw the phrase ‘I’m too old for this’ mouthed by the old man.
“And a last reminder. There is no camp enforcer at Fairy Tail. Just a very, very, passionate young woman who could quite possibly kill a bear. Good luck!” And with that note his head disappeared behind the podium again, an eerie silence falling over the campers in the seconds following.
Lucy grinned worriedly as she made eye contact with Juvia. Well, that was one way to start off the summer.
