Spirited Away is an excellent movie. It has a compelling plot and beautiful visuals. Studio Ghibli is well-known for its magical elements, but the film also portrays the myths and traditional aspects of the culture. Japan. Spirited Away's Miyazaki is consistently praised for his engaging storytelling. Howl’s Moving Castle An imaginary realm where magic and modernity coexist is the setting of the fantasy movie Howl’s Moving Castle. Sophie, who has been given a witch’s curse that will cause her to age, is the main character of the film. Howl, a powerful wizard, lives in a mythical castle with his supernatural friends. Kiki’s Delivery Service is among the greatest slice-of-life themed films ever made thanks to its accessible topic and traditional Studio Ghibli aesthetics. The Tale of Princess Kaguya The Narrative of the Princess Kaguya was inspired by a Japanese folktale called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter from the 10th century. Grave of Fireflies (Studio Ghibli On Netflix) Grave of the Fireflies, an animated war story that takes place during the Second World War, is created. Setsuko and Seita, his younger sister, are the main characters. Setsuko recently lost her mother to firebombing. The siblings are left in an abandoned bomb shelter without guardians and are now homeless. fight to survive together only finding comfort in one another’s company. Grave of the Fireflies focuses more on the effects of war on children, as opposed to other war films. Grave of the Fireflies is a masterpiece from Studio Ghibli and a real tearjerker. My Neighbor Totoro (Studio Ghibli On Netflix) My Neighbor Totoro was a fantasy film that Studio Ghibli has made a name for. It tells the story of two sisters, Mei and Satsuki, who form a friendship with Totoro, a forest spirit. During their friendship, Mei and Satsuki meet other magical beings. Making fond memories with them while they do it. My Neighbor Totoro created Totoro, the most famous character in the production. It is a film that has been critically acclaimed. The simple but compelling plot and fantastic Totoro make this film a must-see. Marnie was there when The emotive story of acceptance and self-discovery, When Marnie Was there is a touching tale. Anna Sasaki was an orphan at an early age. She now lives with family in a rural community after suffering an asthma attack. Anna discovers an abandoned house while exploring the town with Marnie, a charming girl. Anna and Marnie form a quick connection, but it becomes more complicated as the time passes. Anna is now more connected to Marnie than Anna thought. The film When Marnie Was Here has been praised by critics for its stunning visual and lyrical quality. The story beautifully portrays the feeling of isolation children feel when their parents work long and live in a hectic environment. Daredevil – Staffel 3 – der Teufel war noch nie so gut Am Ende von der Event-Staffel The Defenders war eine dritte Staffel von Daredevil eher im Raum von „mit welchem Blödsinn wollen sie ihn zurückbringen?“. Und ehrlich gesagt, die Lösung der Autoren war ein bisschen sehr an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Aber noch ehrlicher gesagt, die Serie handelt von einem blinden Anwalt, der mit Hilfe eines quasi Sonargehörs einen Zweitjob als dunkler Ritter von Hells Kitchen in New York unterwegs ist. Für mich war die Grenze bei Magieeinsatz gesetzt und so weit sind sie nicht gegangen. Also war die Rückkehr ok. Und von da an ging es einfach nur… …fantastisch weiter. Die Story war mitreisend, die Produktion problemlos hervorragend, die schauspielerischen Leistungen durch die Bank wirklich gut (wobei Vincent D'Onofrio als Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin und Jay Ali als FBI Agent Ray Nadeem oft die Show gestohlen haben) und die One-Take-Szenen wieder absolut atemberaubend umgesetzt waren. Diese Staffel hat wieder unterstrichen, warum Marvel’s Daredevil die beliebteste, der mittlerweile sechs Serien der Defenders-Reihe auf Netflix ist. Klar, angesichts dessen, dass Disney an einem eigenen Streaming-Dienst bastelt und seine Inhalte von Netflix & Co sukzessive abzieht, besteht die Gefahr, dass dies die letzte Staffel sein könnte. Wenn dem so ist, ist das wirklich sehr sehr bedauerlich, aber die Serie mit einer Meisterleistung abgegangen. Wenns um die Qualität geht, spielt Daredevil ohne Vorbehalte in der Liga von Marvel’s Legion mit. Drawing from his own life experience with divorce, including the demise of his parent’s marriage, his own divorce from Jennifer Jason Leigh in 2010, plus the added bonus of gaining knowledge on the ill-fated marriages of many of his family and friends, Director/Writer Noah Baumbach has created a captivating, and authentically real film, facing head on the realities of life, love, heartbreak, and what is the most important thing in this life for all of us, Family!

As we meet the characters within the frames of this exquisite film, we are thrust into the lives of Stage Director Charlie (Adam Driver), and his beautiful wife and actress Nicole (Scarlett Johansson), who are at the height of their marriage disintegrating, even though neither of them presently has the strength, or fortitude, to face the situation head on…

As they both struggle to keep their careers, and marriage intact, it seems that the inevitable is happening, when Nicole seeks refuge and a new start, with her family in LA.  Let the bicoastal de-coupling, and custody battle begin, as Charlie must stay focused on his Stage Production, and Company in NYC, but alas with the help of numerous Lawyers assisting in the demise of their relationship, including Nora Fanshaw (Laura Dern), Bert Spitz (Alan Alda), and blood thirty tyrant Jay (Ray Liotta), anything is possible!  Now with the pain of divorce looming, and the failure they both feel consuming them more and more with each passing week, Charlie and Nicole must focus on not letting this situation totally implode their lives, or the life of the most important person to them both, their son Henry (Azhy Robertson), as they try to form a “new normal” of what works best, for everyone involved…

I give MARRIAGE STORY a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN!  Even though it pops on Netflix today 12/6,  I suggest that you venture to catch this film at a theater near you instead (It’s showing at Landmark’s Tivoli in St. Louis), as the performances throughout are so exceptional, they are beckoning you to experience them initially on the big screen.  The entire cast throughout this film is sheer perfection, from Johansson playing the struggling actress and Mother, trying to come to terms with her husband’s aloofness for her own passions, career, and his infidelity too.  Dern is perfection as well throughout, playing lawyer extraordinaire, playing hard ball on Nicole and Henry’s behalf, every step of the way.   Although, for me, the ultimate standout performance throughout every inch of this film comes from Driver, as he hits his full acting stride with the portrayal of this character, as he immerses you in the intense pain and anguish this Divorce is inflicting upon his son, himself, and ultimately, the woman he just knew would be in his life with, forever.  2019 has to be hailed as Adam Driver’s “best year yet”, as his performance here ~ along with his incredible performance in THE REPORT ~ and his much anticipated performance still to hit on the big screen, with his next installment as Kylo Ren in Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker, he is proving, without a doubt, that he has what it takes to make his mark in Hollywood!  And I must send some kudos in the direction of Writer/Director Noah Baumbach as well, as his muse of real-life experiences which he recreates for us to enjoy on the big screen, has once again served him very well, as this latest creation hits on my list of the Best films of 2019!
