#MusicMovies: Song to Song

Vivir de canción, de beso en beso, es sin duda la vida deseada por muchos. La música salva, mueve masas y conciencias. Pero cuando la música se convierte en una adicción por buscar controlarla, puede ser peligrosa. De la mano del director  Terrence Malick  “Song to song” nos plantea la oscuridad que puede existir detrás de los escenarios con Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman y Rooney Mara pasando por diversas situaciones personales tan comunes como un corazón roto, llegando hasta la estafa y la dominación. 

Esta película fue estrenada en South by Southwest de este año, y auqnue en un principio tenía la idea de que sería un trama al estilo CLOSER, pero a los primeros minutos me di cuenta que no, sí hay un triángulo amoroso, pero la historia detrás de este seria más compleja o mejor dicho confusa.

Ambientada principalmente en Austin, Texas. Esta película nos muestra a algunos de los músicos más reconocidos de la industria como: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence and the Machine e Iggy Pop. La vida que pareciera de ensueño que viven nuestros personajes poco a poco se torna turbia. La voracidad con la que las ansias de poder consumen la humanidad de estos 4 se imprimen en los diálogos. 

Uno de los aspectos más sobresalientes de esta película es la fotografía, que está a cargo de nada más y nada menos que Emmanuel Lubezkii. Por lo que se le da una gran carga emocional a la imagen, algo que sin duda disfrute, sobre todo cuando los protagonistas viajan a Yucatán y la belleza del paisaje nacional es sublime. El ritmo de este film, flaquea en muy diferentes momentos, y la parición de músicos festivales las escenas de conciertos en vivo son el complemento perfecto para esto, tal es el caso en el que Patti Smith, le da un consejo de amor a Faye, el personaje interpretado por Mara. Aunque el desenlace de esta película pudiera ser algo predecible, sin embargo creo que su mensaje es bastante contundente y más de uno nos sentiremos identificados. Aquí el trailer:

I just seen Sia’s Music and I think Maddie portrayed her character with respect and love.

I didn’t see the performance as mockery or offensive in any way in fact I see the performance as a credit to Maddie Ziegler to portray that part of a spectrum.
