It was ASOCAS this weekend! Danielle Galligan spoke of how Nina helped in how she views herself and in her self-confidence and, because she helped me too, I decided to do a post about it
Insta: rescatedelgrishaverse

Post:
A few weeks back, I went to my mum's to spend the weekend with my family. My little brother, at one moment, came up to me and told me that he was fat and that he hated it.

My youngest brother is 9. He's an adorable, beautiful, brilliant kid, the kind of kid that one moment will tease you and in the next will wrap his arms around you in a tight hug. One day, when he's mature enough, I'll sit down with him and we'll talk about this at length. For now, I tell him what I've always told him: that all that matters is whether he's healthy, that nobody has the right to talk about someone else's body, that I love him very much and that he's absolutely beautiful.
Being almost 30, I definitely feel more comfortable in my own skin. Still, this brought me back to when I was a teenager, of how I didn't want to be only in a bikini when I went to the beach, so I left my shirt and shorts on. It brought me to the comments I hear nowadays from the women around me in my office regarding their 'needs' to go on a esthetic diet or their guilt for eating a snack.
We start consuming entertainment from such a young age. With hype, comes popularity, trends, and so does our desire to look like someone else. Positive body representation in media is absolutely essential.
And there's been enough toxic representation (there shouldn't have been any in the first place!) Off the top of my head, Monica Geller from Friends is represented as someone ridiculed because of the way her body used to look like. Penelope Featherington from Bridgerton is someone we are all reminded constantly of how undesirable she's in the Ton (and do not get me started on that heavily, HEAVILY edited promo pic for season 3)
So, positive representation. Not exaggerating, Nina Zenik is one of the first I've seen. Nina is hilarious, downright gorgeous, sexy, a complete flirt, brilliant, knowledgeable and I'm only just getting started on the beauty of her character. Her body is never discussed. She loves food and that isn't wrong. She's gorgeous and desirable and that's it.
Today, @daniellegalligan_ said at ASOCAS that she learned a lot from Nina. I did as well, and so did many others. To Leigh, to Dani, thank you 🤍

Is she standing trial?! 😭

(Screenshot from https://x.com/netflixgeeked/status/1836480310197817516?s=61&t=1GGjWtn2cr4l3lQNZLQB0Q)
That’s what this situation looks like? Is it to get potentially unghosted?
Did they summon the dead to pass judgment on her? That sounds pretty Moonshadow, and we know moon magic can do that kinda thing. Maybe the lotuses serve as some kind of tether to them after death, we saw Runaan’s still glowing while he was beyond the realm of the living. And they can be used to temporarily call them back?
Or maybe they’re illusions, and it’s just to make Rayla ‘face’ the people her actions harmed?
And where is Runaan and Ethari? I’m assuming they’re not allowed to interfere, but I desperately want them to interfere. Ethari didn’t go to bat for Rayla when they ghosted her, and I’m pretty sure he regrets that, so his redemption arc must be a dramatic ‘I object’ kinda scene, it’s what he deserves!
Can’t wait to see, that’s for sure!

I don't very much like the Deats brothers, but I have to admit that not even they have an ego so massive, I'm surprised the people in the room aren't crushed by the sheer gravitational force generated by it

The Deats brothers are fanboys. They want to write fanfiction. They have... weird ideas on how to honor the franchise they love so much, but I can't accuse them of not caring.
Ellis and Shankar's only purpose for writing is huffing their own farts. But between the two, Shankar seems to be even more eager for fame than Ellis, who is more accomplished and never gave me the impression of caring much because he only wanted to write what he wanted. Shankar is the total fame hog who'd use any IP to spread his "universe".

So, I did a post about Netflix in honour of #renewshadowandbone day. Thought I'd bring it here.
Remember to sign and share the petition! You can look it up as "Save Shadow and Bone". Also, remember to follow the savethegrishaverse account to hear all about the campaign!

Onto the post:
Netflix has gone under a series of changes lately.
One of them is the Extra Member policy, in which one account can't be used by people who aren't members of a household. If you want to allow access to someone that doesn't live in your household, you have to pay an extra fee (currently in places like the US).
Okay, so Netflix wants to stay relevant and make more money. What are they doing with it?
As of late, we've all seen Netflix focusing in new markets (i.e. the release of new reality shows and games)
Especially considering the amount of competition Netflix has nowadays, this is clever. And sure, they've been known to release good content once in a while (like Society of the Snow or The Umbrella Academy).
But then, we have content like Love is Blind, which has caused a lot of controversy with the several allegations that the cast is forced to filmed under the influence of alcohol, that they are underfed and that the whole thing is very detrimental to their mental health.
Another thing is that many of Netflix's most popular shows are ending in 2024-2025. The Umbrella Academy, Stranger Things and One Piece, to name a few (and all of them relatively expensive if we take into account their production costs).
Of course, Netflix has new content on its way (like the fantastic Greta Gerwig's Narnia) but the thing is, the number of shows that are cancelled after its second season is astoundingly high so, what does that mean for the viewer's trust in Netflix new material? That we're going to get new shows only to have them cancelled? That the only ones they're going to see through are the realities? I for one, am hesitant to trust this.
Netflix argued that the increase of fees, the change of their policy when it comes to shared accounts and even the introduction of ads would serve for development of new content. I would argue that a better use would be finishing the shows they've already released, like Shadow and Bone. With an established fanbase, finished script for a Spin-off, a lot of source material and even an Emmy nomination, it's really a no-brainer.
Netflix, finish what you start. First in the agenda: #renewshadowandbone.

People thinking the ring El wore in season 4 is a "promise ring" Mike gave her (and they'll get married), when the only source of this ever has been fucking Netflixgeeked makes me laugh.
Not to mention that ring was never brought up in the show itself.
#byler#byler tumblr#anti mileven#This is not about bylers who also believe this#It's about Melvins who think this automatically mean they're endgame when it's not even canon that it's a promise ring
