episode 3 of atypical family is out and yeah gotta hand it to the writers of this one. the families have some very interesting and complex characters.

itll be interesting to see if my gut instinct is right and da-hae was actually in a fire that gwi-ju rescued her from. Either as the girl trapped in the school or elsewhere - that yellow door does lead somehwere. but we'll see. also we still don't know why da-hae's family is after the money and why they've scammed before. this drama seems to be going for "complex but not evil characters" vibe so paying off debt, trying to buy something back, or pay for someone's medical treatment are all possible options here. it's possible its just pure greed but i don't think that's the angle we're going for. the Bok family lost their powers (their happiness) because of lifestyle diseases from modern society. if my theory is right then the Do family are committing crime because of the ills of modern society. they are parallels, but if the two families come together they'll be able to overcome things together or at least da-hae will - we haven't seen enough of the rest to say. that is one possible ending anyways. but idk we got like 9 episodes to go.

I really wanted to watch The Atypical Family, but one glimpse of that skinny actress in a fat suit immediately turned me off. Could be the best drama of all time but like…it’s 2024. I know it’s a kdrama and like the bar is in hell for treatment of fat characters BUT that fat suit is not it.
