Skincare Concerns: Battling Windburn
Backstory: So I'm a dumbass and got windburn again. It's the first major snowstorm of the season and I'm out there furiously shoveling this horrid, wet, heavy snow--seriously, it's like straight up slush falling from the sky--while the wind is whipping my hood off. Suffice it to say, same as last winter, I've gotten windburned again.
What Is Windburn: According to Healthline, windburn is when your skin is exposed to harsh wind, temperatures, and possibly sunlight, causing it to lose moisture and become red and enflamed; you may feel a burning sensation. Another way to think of it is that the wind literally gives your skin friction burns.
Prevention:
Protect your skin with a layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor before going out
Makeup can help too; anything that puts an extra layer between your bare skin and the wind
Cover as much skin as possible; use a scarf or mask to protect your face
Treatment:
Wash your face with lukewarm water
Avoid gel cleansers and scrubs; use cream cleanser instead
Avoid harsh skincare products, e.g. astringents, toners, exfoliants, etc.
Moisturize frequently
Use cold compresses to ease the 'burn'
You can also use OTC pain/inflammation relievers
Summary: Stay away from harsh ingredients like exfoliants, strong acids, toners, astringents, etc. If you have windburn, you want to put moisture back in your skin, not be pulling it out. I also recommend avoiding brightening agents because your skin will already be red and agitated from the windburn. You don't want to make it worse.
Use products heavy in lipids (oils), ceramides, NMF, and other barrier-strengthening ingredients, and hyaluronic acid. Beta glucan is another good active to look for. Use SPF if you're going to be outside because oils can increase risk of sunburn.
Read on for a more detailed explanation.
GOOD PRODUCTS TO USE WHEN WINDBURNED
Cleansers
Cream Cleansers
Cream cleansers are typically gentler than most other cleansers. They tend to have more lipids in them, which is a fancy way of saying fats and oils, and fewer ingredients that will strip your skin.
Try: Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser, Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser, Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser, Cerave Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser, Cocokind Oil-to-Milk Cleanser, Honest Beauty Calm On Foaming Cream Cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Facial Cleanser
2. Cleansing Balms & Oils
Here I am, back on my soapbox. Cleansing balms, AKA cold creams, are great for windburn. They're highly emollient and put stuff back into your skin rather than taking it out. Cleansing oils are good too. You will have a residue. Just let your skin absorb it. Do not double cleanse.
Try: Bliss Mighty Biome Pre/Post Biotics Cleansing Balm, Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil, Byoma Melting Cleansing Balm, Cerave Makeup Remover Cleansing Balm, Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm, Mad Hippie Cleansing Oil
Essences
Avoid toners and astringents. Essences are okay.
What's the difference? Essences, as in K-beauty, add moisture to the skin. Toners pull out dirt and oils. You don't want that if you're dealing with windburn.
I'd avoid anything that says it will brighten, tone, or make your skin glow. If you've got windburn, your skin is pretty red, and you don't want to use any actives like Vitamin C that will make that worse.
Try: Fresh Rose Instant Hydration Mist, Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Essence, Heritage Store Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist (not Rosewater Toner) or Rosewater & Glycerin Hydrating Facial Mist, La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water for Sensitive Skin Spray, Neogen Real Heartleaf Soothing Essence, Vichy Eau Thermale Mineralisante (Mineralizing Thermal Water) Spray
Serums
Stay with known hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, NMF, ceramides, etc. Focus on restoring skin barrier health.
Avoid brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, as these can cause increased redness and photosensitivity. Stay away from strong acids like AHAs and BHAs.
Try: Honest Beauty Stay Hydrated Hyaluronic Acid + NMF Serum, Byoma Hydrating Serum, Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum, Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum
Moisturizers
As above, focus on products with ingredients known for capturing moisture and improving the skin barrier. These include things like hyaluronic acid, lipids (oils), NMF, ceramides, beta glucan, and Vitamin E. Probiotics might also help.
Avoid skin brighteners like Vitamin C, strong acids (AHAs & BHAs), etc.
Try: Bliss Mighty Biome Ultra-Concentrated Pre/Post Biotics Moisturizer, Honest Beauty Hydrogel Cream, The Ordinary NMF + HA Moisturizer, buttah. Oil Free Hyaluronic Gel Cream, CosRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream, Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream, Good Light Order of the Eclipse Hyaluronic Cream, Kopari Moisture Whipped Ceramide Cream, Pacifica Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Cream and/or Lotion, The Ordinary NMF + PhytoCeramides Moisturizer, Sacheu We Occlusive Intense Overnight Moisturizer
Oils
Pretty much any oils you want to try on your skin will help. Oils are an important part of your skin routine, whether you're getting them from a cleanser or a cream, or adding them directly to your skin. I like to apply my cream moisturizer, then add a few drops of oil on top in the winter. It helps lock in moisture and creates another thin layer between your skin and the great outdoors.
The cool thing about oils is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on them if you don't want to. You can just go to your kitchen cabinet and see what's there.
From a previous post:
There are more common oils like coconut, olive, avocado, grapeseed, sunflower seed, sesame seed, and almond oils that you can literally buy at the grocery store. I did some research and chemically there’s no difference between what’s sold in a big bottle at the grocery store and what’s sold in tiny, more expensive bottles by wellness brands. You just want to make sure that whatever you’re purchasing is organic and does not have additives. The oils that are a little less common, which you probably won’t be able to find in the grocery aisles, include: apricot, marula, rosehip, argan, chia seed, pumpkin seed, carrot seed, shea oil/butter, castor, evening primrose, squalane, jojoba, and acai. Pricing on these can be all over the place. Some are more common than others these days, like argan, rosehip, marula, etc. Others are going to be harder to find or just cost more to make, like evening primrose, chia seed, etc. You should look up oils to use for your skin type, but here are a few articles to get you started. Everything You Need To Know About Face Oils | 8 Best Natural Oils for Healthy Skin
You can even use vegetable shortening in a pinch, which typically has a soybean oil base. Lots of soy used in skincare, although if you've read my other posts, I'm pretty iffy on soybean oil these days. I'm currently using a mix of equal parts olive, avocado, and carrot seed oils.
If you'd prefer to purchase a special blend from a skincare company, that's totally valid too.
Try: Good Molecules Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil, Byoma Hydrating Recovery Oil, Cocokind Chia Omega-3 Facial Oil, Honest Beauty Organic Beauty Facial Oil, Indeed Labs Squalane Facial Oil, The Ordinary "B" Oil, Well People Plant Elixir Replenishing Botanical Facial Oil

Unlock the Secrets to Glass Skin: A Simple Korean Skincare Routine Revealed!
In recent years, the Korean skincare routine has gained immense popularity worldwide, and for a good reason. Known for its effectiveness in achieving a flawless and radiant complexion, the Korean skincare routine is a step-by-step process that focuses on nourishing and hydrating the skin. One of the most sought-after results of this routine is the coveted "glass skin" look, characterized by a clear, luminous, and dewy complexion. This blog post will delve into the simple Korean skincare routine that can help you achieve glass skin and some recommended products to get you started.
Double Cleansing
Double cleansing is the first and most crucial step in any Korean skincare routine. This step involves using an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and excess sebum, followed by a water-based cleanser to cleanse the skin thoroughly. Recommended products for this step include the Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm and the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.
Exfoliation
Exfoliating your skin is essential to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, resulting in a smoother and brighter complexion. Opt for a gentle exfoliator like the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Pads or the Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off, which helps to unclog pores and reveal a fresh layer of skin.
Toner
Toning is a crucial step in the Korean skincare routine as it helps to balance the skin's pH level and prepare it for better absorption of subsequent products. Look for hydrating toners like the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner or the Son & Park Beauty Water, which boosts moisture and nourishes the skin.
Essence
Essences are lightweight, highly concentrated formulas that deliver hydration and nutrients deep into the skin. They are a vital component in achieving glass skin. Consider using the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence or the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, both of which are known for their skin-rejuvenating properties.
Serum
Serums are potent formulations that target specific skin concerns, such as brightening, anti-aging, or acne. For glass skin, focus on serums that provide intense hydration and radiance. The Laneige Water Bank Hydro Essence or the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum are excellent choices to incorporate into your routine.
Moisturizer
Hydration is critical to achieving glass skin, so investing in a good moisturizer is essential. Look for lightweight, non-greasy options like the Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb or the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream, which provide long-lasting hydration without clogging pores.
Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is crucial for maintaining a youthful and healthy complexion. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, such as the Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk or the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence.
In Conclusion
By following this simple Korean skincare routine, you can be well on your way to achieving the coveted glass-skin look. Consistency is vital, so stick to your routine and be patient, as results may take time. Experiment with different products to find what works best for your skin type and concerns. Embrace the Korean skincare philosophy of nourishing and hydrating your skin, and you'll soon be flaunting a radiant and flawless complexion that will turn heads wherever you go.

Hey w rizz (I look like ellie like but like actually, i can cook I speak Spanish I'll serenade u w taylor swift I'm really funny I swear give me a chance) (what's ur skincare routine)
BRO- why r you not in my DMs then??? with your pretty face reveal?? mommy???????
aand about my skincare!!
I use this four products and have only one rule: wash your face everyday
my skin gets oily pretty quickly which clogs my pores so I wash my face both morning and night (but mostly just before nap)
I use foam for washing, it is light, does not dry the skin much and washes well both the face and removes makeup. (NEOGEN on first picture)
once or twice a week I use a scrub, it who does not know how a stronger version of the facial wash, it can not be used every day. for a long time I could not find a good scrub that would not dry the skin so much, so I share my secret hehe (YADAH on second pic)
well, now the cream! I just recently bought the RAD Calming and Nourishing Cream and I can already say that I am absolutely delighted! it needs just a drop, it is quickly absorbed and it is best to apply it after washing, I prefer before going to bed. I have another one, bought it in winter and YOU WONT BELIVE BUT THAT SHIT TASTES LIKE STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM FR (YES I TRIED TO EAT IT and I’m not sorry), after it, the face smells very sweet, and edible ,,, (two last pictures)

I see you mention skincare a lot and I was wondering what out of the products you’ve tried is the one that you think is best for dehydrated skin?
First you need to assess the cause of dehydration, if its caused by overexfoliation and a damaged skin barrier or caused by a dry climate. Dehydrated skin needs water so think either humectants or straight up water like a thermal mist or flower/plant toner, like im from mugwort essence is a really popular one, anua heartleaf toner is popular too, avene thermal mist
If your dehydrated skin is caused by a broken skin barrier you should lay off the actives(aha, bha, retinol) for a while and focus on barrier healing, cicalfate and cicaplast are really great, biodermas cicabio cream is said to be good too
If your dehydrated skin is caused by a dry climate (this one is challenging) then you will have to focus on bringing water into your skin and locking it in with an occlusive or thicker cream. I personally find using light weight serums/essence bring more hydration to my skin than thicker textured serums/essence even if they have hyaluronic acid (your skin might be different though) .
Currently i use neogen real ferment micro essence and its one of my faves, you can also use a humidifier in your room/house. Ive also tried iunik beta glucan serum one winter and it worked really nice, niche beauty lab glycerin serum is lovely too but because of the thicker texture my skin still felt like it needed more but it might work for you, dr ceuracle kombucha essence is great for barrier healing, its a milky essence

Key Trends Shaping the Dairy Testing Market
The report "Dairy Testing Market by Type (Safety (Pathogens, Adulterants, Pesticides), Quality), Technology (Traditional, Rapid), Product (Milk & Milk Powder, Cheese, Butter & Spreads, Infant Foods, ICE Cream & Desserts, Yogurt), and by Region - Global Forecast to 2026" The global dairy testing market is estimated to be valued at USD 5.5 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach a value of USD 8.1 billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 8.2% during the forecast period. Increase in consumer awareness regarding the safety and quality of food products, stringent regulations imposed by the regulatory bodies, and increased in the global dairy trade, have been driving the global dairy testing market.
Download PDF Brochure @ https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=240885146
The milk & milk powder segment is estimated to witness the largest growth in the dairy testing market, in terms of value, in 2021
Among different types of dairy products, milk & milk powder segment accounted for the largest share in 2021. Milk & milk powder may be contaminated due to poor hygiene conditions during processing, storage, and transportation. Milk powder is a direct substitute for fluid milk; hence, used in varied applications, including bakery, dairy, and infant nutrition. As an after-effect of COVID-19 lockdown, an evident dip in sales and stockpiling of unsold milk powder has been plaguing the dairy industry.
The Campylobacter in the pathogen segment is estimated to account for a larger market share in the dairy testing market, in terms of value, in 2021
The most common pathogens in milk and dairy products include Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes, Yersinia enterocolitis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Yersinia enterocolitis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The contaminated milk or dairy product, upon consumption, can cause several diseases in human beings. Campylobacter is a gram-negative, spiral-shaped, and extremely motile bacterium responsible for food contamination and poisoning. The bacterium is found in the tract of warm-blooded animals such as cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, and goats, and in birds, especially poultry. In humans, campylobacter can cause diarrhea, cramping, abdominal pain, and fever
The rising demand for dairy testing in the European markets has created opportunities for dairy testing service providers.
The Europe region is the dominant market for dairy testing and is expected to experience the fastest growth only second to Asia-Pacific. The major producers of milk in the EU region are Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain. Together these countries account for around 70% of the total milk production. Globalization has increased the international trade of milk and dairy products and has had a major impact on global dairy supply. However, the increase in trade has resulted in higher risk of contaminated milk and dairy products reaching dairy producers and processors, and end consumers in distant markets due to instances of cross-contamination, exposure to toxins, microorganisms, and other contaminants. Manufacturers have been using dairy testing services to ensure safety and quality of their products and to comply to the international standards.
