A/N | The idea just came to me and I wanted to write it down, so I did. I hope you enjoy!

The shock everyone faced at the sight of you was priceless. If you were a stranger passing by, you would think they had seen a ghost pop out from the shadows from the way their faces contorted from exhaustion to pure shock.

It was midday, the harsh sun beaming down on everyone as they lunged at Sanemi in futile attempts to even graze him. It was impossible of course; but they didn’t have a choice, so they practically threw themselves at him, only to be knocked back like they were nothing more than troublesome flies.

Sanemi was the first one to hear your son's footsteps. He freezes, turning to face the loud stomps of your two year old. He runs to his father, tripping over his feet and stumbling to the ground and getting back up as if nothing happened. Not a second later he hears your labored breaths as you try to catch up.

His eyes soften the slightest bit as he walks towards the two of you. He doesn't waste a second before scooping Genji up and walking over to you. He hears the hushed whispers of the trainees behind him, disregarding it as he closes the distance.

“I’m sorry, I was in the middle of stitching up my kimonos and he just took off.” You start, hand coming over to rub your swole belly. “I couldn’t catch him in time, I promise I didn’t mean to interrupt your training session.” You huff, out of breath. 

He smiles, amused as you look worriedly. “They’re staring at me like I’m a witch.” You whisper, shrinking under their curious gaze. “Them? They’re not important, ignore the little shits.” He says, keeping your sons wandering hands from tugging at his hair.

“Well,” You smile, hand pressing affectionately against his chest. “I think it’s time for them to take a break. They all look dehydrated and it’s a good time to eat lunch.” You say, taking your

son in your arms as he babbles about nothing.

Sanemi sighs, thinking carefully about your words. He doesn’t want to let them go early, they’ve been pissing him off more than usual today; but he did want to spend time with his family. He groans deeply, turning back to the trainees with an unamused look adorning his face. “Get out of my sight, and make sure you thank my wife; she’s the reason you get an early lunch.” 

They scurry off almost immediately, shouting words of thanks and gratitude as they sprint out of the wind hashiras sight. “Now, where were we?” he asks, pulling the bow holding your braid together out of Genji’s mouth. “I was saying sorry for being so pregnant that I can’t keep up with our two year old.” You laugh, walking over to a rock to sit down.

The thought of the corps soon finding out about him having a wife and soon to be two kids lingers in the back of his mind. All that matters is this private little moment. 

All that matters is his family.

Card Set Hanakotoba

Recently I was discussing with my lovely friend @istoleyourboat about the meanings behind the flowers in this new card set, and I felt the urge to chronicle them somewhere! I thought you guys might get a kick out of it, too, so this seemed as good a place as any to put it.

So without further ado...

1. Hanako-kun - Queen of the Night

The Queen of the Night (月下美人) is a cactus flower that blooms just once a year for a single night. Because of this, the most heavily associated meanings with the flower are "transient beauty", "fleeting love," and "the urge to see someone just once."

The short-lived life of this flower feels quite fitting for our ghosty boy! I also like how the flower looks both beautiful and unsettling...all around a fantastic choice by AidaIro.

2. Nene Yashiro - Strawberry Blossoms

If you have paid attention to the Hanakotoba in TBHK before, then Nene being associated with strawberries should be nothing new to you. Regardless, the prevalent Hanakotoba for Strawberry Blossoms (イチゴ) are "love," "innocence," and "you make me happy."

The "you make me happy" one makes me want to kick my feet around and squeal a little. Isn't that cute!? I also feel the strawberry is especially fitting for Nene because it seems like something she would grow in her Gardening Club.

3. Kou - Clivia

Otherwise known by the names Bush Lily or Natal Lily, the Hanakotoba for Clivia (君子蘭) are "sincere," "noble" and "good-hearted."

I think this all fits very nicely with our resident good boy Kou, hm?

4. Teru - Bird of Paradise

The Bird of Paradise (ストレリチア) symbolizes "faithfulness," "magnificence," "a bright future" and "superficial love."

Even at a glance this flower really pops out at you, making it a great fit for the ever-impressive Teru. I really, really love this choice!!

5. Sakura - Hellebore

Otherwise known as the Christmas Rose, the Hellebore (クリスマスローズ) represents "reminiscence," "never forget me" and "notice my woes."

The way this beautiful flower seems to cast its head down makes it look almost sad. I suppose that's why it has such pitiful meanings associated with it!

6. Natsuhiko - King Protea

King Protea (キング��ロテア), also known as the Sugarbush, symbolizes "strength," "courage," "resilience," and "a king's quality."

If you notice, Natsuhiko always has a little crown-shaped tuft hidden in his hair, so AidaIro associating Natsuhiko with a flower that references royalty pleases me. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding him, but we can at least confirm that Natsuhiko is, indeed, strong and resilient.

(Edit: the flower might be a crysanthemum (菊) instead! Crysanthemums represent the imperial family of Japan, so the association with royalty is still present. The red crysanthemum is a symbol of love.)

7. Akane - Ivy

The plain, non-flowering ivy stands out in stark contrast to the other plants here, but that's because the hanakotoba for it is just that good. Ivy (ヘデラ) means "everlasting love," "I take this feeling to the afterlife," "faithfulness", and "marriage."

Like, if that doesn't scream Akane, I don't know what does.

8. Aoi - Hydrangea

Again, if you've been paying attention to Hanakotoba in the series, this will not be the first time you've seen Aoi paired with hydrangea. Regardless, hydrangea (アジサイ) represents "enduring love," "mystique," and "fickleness."

The hydrangea is also associated with rejection, more specifically the coldness of a person who rejects the romantic advances of another. It's just such a perfect Aoi flower, there's no wonder AidaIro is so attached to it.

PICOS SCHOOL DESIGN DUMP

Pico

So, I decided that my previous designs for a lot of these characters are going to be more-so their designs during the events of the Pico’s School games. So when they were kids. Like, some will be a bit different, but for the most part, that’s how it is. So then these new designs are them as adults.

When trying to figure out Pico’s design, I didn’t know how I wanted his outfit in this new design to differ from his previous. Cuz like, that’s already the perfect Pico fit. But then I realized “omg, it’d be so much funnier if I DIDN’T change it.” Cuz he is definitely the type of mf to be wearing the same clothes he’s had since middle school.

Like, Cass or Nin come back for a rematch, and they both look super different, and then they look at Pico and he looks NO DIFFERENT than last time they saw him.

Darnell

I immediately broke my rule with the previous designs with Darnell, cuz I just really liked the previous design’s outfit and was like “eh, imma use that for his adult design, and just change the kid design.”

I imagine he got that varsity jacket like, custom made, and it was like super fuckin expensive. But like, when he got it, he decided “wait, I don’t want the sleeves” and just ripped them off 💀

Can’t have long sleeves when you’re always working with fire ig.

Nene

I think Nene is the one I’ve drawn in alt. outfits the most. What can I say, I just really like drawing her and messing around with her clothes. So I had a lot of previous pieces of mine I could look back on for reference.

The main change that isn’t outfit related is her hair. I just decided to dick around and see what looked good, and landed on that. I think it looks pretty good, idk.

Also, gave her a WWJD bracelet cuz sometimes I forget she’s Christian and I thought it was funny.

Reminded me of this one stupid idea I had, featuring my very headcanoned version of the G-Squad:

Like, the G-Squad are doing their whole cult thing, worshipping the Peniliens, when the Pico trio burst in, and Nene says something like “THERE IS ONLY ONE LORD AND SAVIOR, AND HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST.”

And then they kick their asses, idk.

Also, here, them as kids. Pico just got spikier as he got older

Cassandra

She was actually the first redesign I made in this batch.

Main change: Beard. I just sorta wanted to make the Penilien duo more androgynous. I imagine that they don’t really care about transitioning that much, since they don’t have the same gender roles and stereotypes as humans. Just “I’m [insert gender here], that’s it.” Also, I just think Cass slayed with a beard.

I also wanted to incorporate shapes from their alien forms more into their human disguises. So I gave Cass these big sleeve things to sorta emulate the big bulky arms she has in her true form.

One of her pincers is also chipped. This comes from the fact that in Pico’s School, one of her horn-hair things is shorter than the other, and I wanted to find a way to incorporate that.

Damien

I don’t think there’s much to say here that I have already said while talking about Cassandra.

I imagine Damien does less to hide his alien features, since he has a huge superiority complex and thinks Peniliens are superior anyways, so like, why hide his true colors? Why hide what makes him greater than everyone around him?

So yeah, that’s why he keeps his tail out.

Nin

YIPPEE, HEAVYILY HEADCANONED CHARACTER TIME‼️‼️

So Nin differs with the whole “previous design is them as a kid” thing, cuz he doesn’t really age past his age in Pico’s School. Cuz bro dies.

(Also, quick HC timeline: Pico 1 and “Pico 2” (the conflict with the robo-kids) both take place in middle school, while what I call “Pico 3” (the conflict with the G-Squad) happens in high school. So that’s why Nin appears less child-like; he’s a high schooler)

So like, I hc that when Pico killed Nin, Nin pulled some necromancy bullshit and revived HIMSELF. Cuz idk, that feels like some bullshit Pico’s School would pull.

So now he’s undead. His hair also sorta resembles horns cuz it’s sorta to symbolize his devotion to the Peniliens. If y’all are interested in hearing all the HCs I have for the G-Squad (or just PS in general), I might share more at a later date.

He looks at you like you're insane for a minute, just searching your face for any kind of sarcasm... What's the catch?

He feels pretty bad taking your money, he insists that something small will do. Again, he's used to Nene draining the ever loving FUCK out of his bank account. He has no idea how this kept happening.. How did she keep figuring out his information??

He ends up just getting lunch with you. He'd rather just spend the time chatting with you. He's not big for matrialistic things.

And he may be reluctant to take your money, but he absolutely will take your food. Good GOD your cooking is good.

Also, take him to a shooting range! That's where you'll get the most fun. Although, pico doesn't do the safety precautions and probably gets you kicked out-

And, honestly? He'd bake with you. You two could chat recipes, he loves baking. Cooking too. Exchanging foods after you two both went nuts in the kitchen. Just uh.. Don't let him near the stove top. He gets a little trigger happy with the gas.

And his dream chill? Sitting in a park, setting fire to a tree and watching that shit burn. Hope you're chill with that!

Fullmetal Luminary Alchemist

Tenma siblings (16 & 17) but everything is so much worse! Also Toya (16) is Winry, but Toya and Tsukasa do not have a romantic relationship.

I didn't see any reason to change the armor visually, except things the siblings would change themselves (decoration basically) so the hair thing is separated and dyed pink at the tips to look more like Saki's hair and the loin cloth is frilly and decorated (both of these things Tsukasa did for Saki to help her feel more comfortable)

Instead of dead parents, both of Toya's older brothers were drafted and killed instead. Also Toya's mom is a surgeon (regular) so she helps him out with some stuff, but can only do so much since she isn't specialized in automail

Then there's Prince Rui Kamishiro (17) and his two shadows, Nene (17) and Mizuki (21). Later on, when he gets injected with Greed he becomes Avarui

The other Xingese emperor candidate whose come to amestris in search of immortality is Emu Ootori (14)! With a little rabbit friend in tow. She's a big fan of the Luminary Alchemist she's heard so many stories of!

Tsukasa’s CO is Colonel Shinonome managed by her loyal, ever-present Lieutenant Asahina . Ena is still called the flame alchemist, since she still uses flame alchemy as her specialty

The other members of the team are: Sergeant Azusawa (Breda), Warrant officer Hinomori (Falman), 2nd lieutenant Shiraishi (Havoc), and 2nd lieutenant Hoshino (Feury). And Ena's best friend is, of course, Lieutenant colonel Momoi (Hughes). Married to Shizuku with a beautiful daughter!

Finally in this lineup, we have Akito (16) as Paninya. Kinda,

It's a bit more complicated because he is also Ena's younger brother and she is our Colonel Mustang in this au-

So more exactly, he and Ena are adoptive siblings, both taken in by Madame Christmas. Mme Chris paid/called in a favor for Akito's Automail surgery and he's incredibly grateful to her for everything she and the girls have done for him.

That's why he started working at Ken's shop (where he got the automail) as an errand boy/ extra pair of hands. Ken is still a father figure to him in this au, so he's happy to work there and wants to pay back Ken too

Originally Ena was also included in those he felt grateful toward, the two were actually very close, but then she joined the military. Originally this wasn't a problem, but she was gone for a long time and when she got back she was basically a different person.

Akito tried to help or at least witnessed some of her worst moments once back (think the Gracia's pie scene) and he was horrified, by what the military had done to his sister, and innocent people, and what his sister had done too.

This caused him to form a deep hatred for the military, which turned to a grudge against Ena when she decides to continue and even climb the ranks in the broken system of the military

He starts adding pickpocketing to his ways of making money, especially from military folks when they show up, he likes the rush and it makes him feel vindicated to hurt anything military

This is of course how Akito ends up stealing Tsukasa's watch, cue first rush valley episode (minus childbirth) and by the end Toya ends up working at Ken's shop too, but as an apprentice automailer

Gay romance ensues, with a lot of Toya picking at Akito's automail and Akito suffering

Since An is Havoc in this au, she is originally working for Ena, but then gets injured and heads back to the shop to help out. Which is obviously pretty awkward with Akito, but they start talking it out over time

I think this is around the time Ena and Akito start rebuilding their relationship, using An and her good nature as a bridge, enough so that by the end Akito helps out with the coupe (not going to the fight or anything, just handling supplies they send to Team Ena and stuff)

But mostly obviously it's that you are his soft spot, he also definitely likes hand squeezes it a nice physical affection while also being secretive, whenever you two are watching movies and you start drawing something on Akito hand he just blushes and looks after a little before pretending he doesn't like it moving his hand away, but when you do it again he accepts it same with hair ruffles , Akito only questioned you once and it was your first week of dating then he stopped

Tsukasa loves it! He didn't get much attention as a child because of Saki and he's not bad of course, how could he be it's his sister and she needed the attention, though he personally adores how you act especially if he gets the affection after the show! He just feels happy and thinks he has done a good job performing, Tsukasa like Akito likes hand squeezes it's a simple sign of affection, and Tsukass also enjoys when you ruffle his hair! It makes him want to take even more care of them like triple more! He immediately notices how happy you are it's obvious with your shaking his hand honestly Tsukasa gets surprised when he noticed that you are unaware of being so damn cute!

Honestly Rui probably teased him a few times, and Emu is literally you guys no.1 fan as for Nene she thinks you a perfect match for Tsukasa

sharing some of my rui headcanons :]

i mentioned this in that rui gender poll from a while back, but i am personally a believer of any/all pronouns rui with gender that cannot be labelled whatsoever. i think he'd generally consider and present himself as male, but doesn't have many strong preferences about it. doesn't actively make the effort to dress "femininely," but he'd probably fuck with long skirts if given the opportunity!

and all of you know how much i base my personality off of this by now, but. aroace rui :) aroace rui who has always understood romance as a concept, a trope. he can pick up on romantic cues, but purposefully chooses to pretend they don't exist. the mere thought of him experiencing romantic attraction fills him with so much disgust he has to distract himself for hours. i'd ramble a bit more, but then we'd be here for too long..

i think he'd have really good sleight of hand! he's always had an interest for things like card/coin tricks, and picked up more after learning from kaito :) he always has a little trick or illusion up his sleeve and occasionally performs them for kids at phoeniland or just on the street!

despite having really good dexterity with his tools and tricks, he is terrible with sewing and needles. tsukasa has tried everything in his power to teach him, but nothing stops him from accidentally pricking himself.

incredibly susceptible to cold temperatures. is usually wearing a couple more layers than necessary

doesn't get sick often, but when he does, the illness hits him like a TRUCK. it takes him at least a week to recover. he's huddled up in blankets like a poor and frail victorian child, and he can barely work up an appetite. the kicker: he doesn't realize he's feeling Bad until somebody points out how horrible he looks. and that's when it settles

always needs something in his hand to fiddle with! super super good at spinning his pens and pencils (sleight of hand), and is often found twiddling with his longer strands of hair. he also has a bunch of miscellaneous screws and trinkets and trash in his pockets that he keeps to fidget with.

rui has intrusive thoughts (projecting).. most of them come from his deep fear of hurting others and anxiety regarding social perception and safety

this is already kind of canon i think but. whenever rui ever makes the effort to actually clean his room (shocking), he almost always gets distracted by something he finds, and soon enough, cleaning is no longer of his concern.

shitty handwriting. he CAN write neatly, but he just chooses not to

i think he'd be really good at game pigeon word hunt. and sudoku. and crosswords. all the word puzzles. and it pisses tsukasa and nene off a lot. emu is his worthy rival

sensitive teeth. can't bite into ice cream...

this is a given, but aside from theatre, i think he'd be super into other performance arts like ballet. he'd be really intrigued by how storytelling can be completely reliant on visuals and motions with no words and lyrics. ballerina rui au is also something i've brewed in my brain a while ago but the logistics are funny

his opinion on mint chocolate ice cream: taste is perfectly fine but he doesn't appreciate the chocolate chunks at all

weird sock collection. he will die if he doesn't have a funky pair of socks on his feet at all times. aside from when he sleeps probably

lots of unfinished word documents.. he's had a few aspirations about writing an actual novel instead of a script, but the ideas are like ping pong balls in his brain that interfere with his other priorities so he never actually gets much writing done.. one day he will though

that's all i can recall for now.. i'll make more soon if i think of more! this is also a humble request for any other rui headcanons you may have that aren't mentioned here.. hehehe

I don’t think rui would write a show with romance and cast tsukasa as the lead/himself as the love interest on purpose I think he believes in the separation of work and personal life a little too much for that. but I do think he would do it unconsciously & write characters that are pretty clearly based off of him and Tsukasa and 1) not realize this at all 2) not cast himself as the love interest. He’s like I don’t know why but this play just came really easily to me :) & tsukasa’s in the background tearing out his hair like What Does He Mean With This.

Rui: and I believe emu-kun should be cast as the love interest

Emu: (looks at tsukasa) (looks at rui) nuh-uh I think YOU should do it rui-kun :)

Tsukasa: (behind rui frantically signaling for her to cut it out) it’s a big role, and he needs to focus on directing! Right, rui?

Emu: (ignoring him) nenechan and I can help!! Pretty please? I think rui-kun will be super duper Kira Kira extra wonderhoy in this role!

Rui: hm… this show won’t be too technical, so it’s a good time to train you both on behind the scenes work… I suppose that could work, if that’s what you really want. are you both sure that’s alright?

Emu: yup yup I’m ready to learn!!

Nene: I don’t mind. I’m just happy I don’t have to be the love interest for him… (makes a face)

Tsukasa: excuse me??

Rui: Alright, it’s settled then.

Tsukasa: do I not get a say in this?!

Tsukasa: you told me you wrote this three days ago! You just got the role a minute ago!

Rui: - alas at the final moment my joy has been snuffed out by our tyrannical troupe leader… boohoo…

Tsukasa: 😑 seriously? I already started refining my character assuming emu would be in that role.

Emu: (clinging to nene) you made him cry tsukasa-kun!! Let him take the role!!

Nene: what a monster…

Rui: I suppose it was too much to ask for you to step out of your comfort zone… I just expected a star to be more capable of adapting to changes…

Tsukasa: of course I can! That’s not- (rapidly realizing there’s no way out of this that lets him keep any dignity) urgh. fine! Rui will play the love interest!

Rui: (immediately drops the fake crying bit) wonderful! Let’s work together and produce an amazing show!

Emu: yay!! Can we add a kis-

Tsukasa: (covering emu’s mouth) haha of course it will be amazin - EUGH emu do NOT lick my hand!!!!

More Tenma Siblings Headcanons from the top of my head

Ok this one's more hurt/comfort-ish than my last one

Tsukasa's first creation in terms of script writing and song is actually a really scuffy lullaby made when Saki first felt really bad in the hospital after THE show (the one that made Tsukasa want to become a star).

Tsukasa decided to put on his first self-made show with a song specially for her.

When Toya first came to them upset (specifically the "Never Give Up Cooking!" Flashback), Tsukasa puts on the exact same show for him as well. In his logic, it's because of how well it worked for Saki, but in a more outsider's sense, it's a Tenma initiation. Toya has no escape now. He's stuck as a Tenma.

While the song is really REALLY awkward and scuffed (he's literally a pre-tween leave him be), it becomes a staple between the three.

Eventually, as they grow up, the song does get less awkward with some tweeks in lyrics, rhythm, etc.

It was a bonding moment between them as well, song-writing together. It helped both Saki and Toya discover their absolute love for creating, just like how the song was Tsukasa's first step to creation.

It became a habit for Tsukasa to at least hum it to them when they're cuddling, or when he's comforting them. Toya came running from home and needs a place to stay? He runs his hands through his hair while voicing out the melody. Saki's gets a sudden hit of separation anxiety? She hears the faintest hum coming from her brother, who doesn't mind at all that she's clinging onto him so hard.

This results is both Saki and Toya humming the song whenever they're stressed. Saki sometimes get scolded in the middle of the test for humming (she didn't even realised she started). VBS silently wonders about the melody Toya sings before shows.

There's an area conversation between Emu, Tsukasa and Kaito, where Emu asks Kaito if the flowers always sing the same song. Kaito responds "No, they sing other songs. But they like to sing this one. This song you're always hearing is a song very special to Tsukasa" (or something along those lines). And Tsukasa snaps his finger and went "oh, so that's why it sounded familiar!"

Yeah. Yeah it's this lullaby.

Tsukasa has a bunch of blank memories from his childhood because of how often he suppressed his emotions,

(Fun fact! Suppressing so much emotions can cause amnesia! A really funny thing considering Tsukasa is canonically really forgetful <3)

But this lullaby is the biggest constant thing from his memories. Basically an anchor that his childhood was actually his if that makes sense.

Saki has separation anxiety due to being ripped away from everything she knew at a young age, and while she thinks she doing better now, she still gets a sudden hit of it randomly.

Days like these, she either asks Leo/Need to hang out, or ask Tsukasa or Toya if she could go with them to practice

The first time the entirety of VBS (-Akito since he's met her earlier) meet Saki, they're majorly confused on why she's there. They're also super confused on why this girl keeps glaring at Akito when Toya's not looking.

Emu is absolutely ECSTATIC that Saki's there. Nene and Rui seem to think having her there offers some sort of improvement too. (Rui's trying to get in her good graces)
