So I Don't Forget #1

going to start dumping any fire emblem related writing ideas in this blog so I don't forget them. special tags just for me lol

Anyway, I've got a bachelor's degree in rhetoric and sociology and I think it would be cool to write an academic research paper understanding the different routes of FE3H and how the rhetoric used in the storytelling of each route fundamentally impacts your understanding of the characters and story. It's not as simple as "edelgard bad" or "church of seiros bad" because different elements are revealed in each route that do not negate the truth of others; it's not like in one route, rhea is evil and in another she isn't. the facts of the plotline remain the same, but how you as the player engage with these elements changes your gameplay experience and the experiences of your units as well. And that translates into fandom spaces and how people engage with secondary media related to the game. anyways. dumping that idea here.

*Note that this same concept can be applied to Fates but Three Houses is a much better written game and is far more extensive so I'd focus on three houses but brrrr Camilla from Fates my love. anyways.

I actually had a thought a while back that the reason why Hopes doesn't have a hero class. It's because it's a statement that Shez can't be the hero of the story. No one really can be a hero, because that's the role Byleth is supposed to have and Shez derailed the story. Not only that, the games make establish male Byleth with the Hero Class in CS and Cipher (the female Byleth can't use it due to it being gender restricted). Adding to this is Byleth's post-TS paralogue, where they get the shield Rhea left behind for them. Heroes in Fire Emblem use both swords and shields.

...Hell, who else really fits the hero class in Houses? Every other unit in Houses that specializes in swords tends to go more into the Thief/Assassin/Swordmaster such as Felix or Yuri route if they're not gender-locked to it, if they don't specialize in other weapons. Heck, it even means that in Houses mechanically Edelgard can not be a hero while Dimitri and Claude can via the player's guidance.

I'd say EO is Billy's class, as Rhea's successor and Hero is just... doylist wise, a mandatory class they had to design, but that sucks too much that they dropped it.

Or maybe they planned to give it to some characters who didn't make the cut, like, idk, playable Indech or a Willy statue (instead of giving him the generic Holy Knight with a steel sword), idk.

But yep, it's weird that Houses basically designed a class that no one has (by default, because reclass is a thing), granted, given how the development of that game felt like me panicking because I only have three eggs and one onion to cook something for Christmas' eve, I'm more willing to buy the doylist argument here, than to think it was a deliberate choice.

“Damn you, woman!”

Nemesis huffed in frustration as he grabbed Sothis’ arm, hard enough that the armlet she wore fell off. The goddess turned and frowned at him. Emerald hues glanced down at the hand then at his face, to stare into those stormy topaz.

“Stop teasing me!” The man growled as he brought her in close. Before a response was given, he smashed his mouth to hers. That did warrant a surprised noise but to his surprise the kiss was returned.

Sothis moved away, just far enough to suck in a breath. “I am not teasing you,” she answered in a breathless manner. She can feel his mouth on hers from moments ago, her lips buzzing. She had no reason to. If it happened, it was purely accidental. But her next move wasn’t.

The greenette moved back in to kiss him, much gentler than his initial one. The hand on her arm slid down to instead grip her hips, hard enough to rip at the silken fabric. “Liar,” the brute managed as he pushed his large frame against hers, which resulted in her being pressed against the desk in the room.

Sothis hummed in turn and as if to properly tease him now, she hooked a bare leg around the man’s waist. The fabric rode up further, the deep slit not leaving anything to the imagination. This action ignited something within the warrior and he hoisted the woman onto the desk. He broke the kiss in favor of trailing hunger filled kisses to her neck where he began to work. An obvious bulge was pressed between the woman’s legs.

a loud gasp escaped that turned into a low moan. Jeweled fingers tangled in dark locks and pulled at the harsh bites to her skin. Sothis pushed Nemesis away when skin broke and ichor shone.

A low growl left him when he was denied. A mix of lust and anger shone on his scarred face. “You damn tease! Let me have you!” Their relationship wasn’t defined by any means but from the start, he had been lusting after her. This was the closest he’d gotten with her. And she dare string him along when his desire was kindled? His eyes darkened and a hand snuck in beneath fabric, and fingers pressed against dampened panties.

“Don’t you dare deny me when you desire this. When you desire me!”
