Albertina Walker (August 29, 1929 – October 8, 2010) was a gospel singer, songwriter, actress, and humanitarian.
She was born in Chicago to Ruben and Camilla Coleman Walker. She began singing in the youth choir at the West Point Baptist Church and joined several Gospel groups, including Pete Williams Singers, The Willie Webb Singers, and the Robert Anderson Singers. She was influenced by Mahalia Jackson, her friend, and confidante. She was popularly referred to as the “Queen of Gospel Music”, initially by such notables as the late Reverend James Cleveland and Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr, for her outstanding achievements within the genre after the death of Mahalia Jackson.
She founded The Caravans, enlisting fellow singers from The Robert Anderson Singers (Ora Lee Hopkins, Elyse Yancey, and Nellie Grace Daniels). The Caravans’ membership has included: James Cleveland, Bessie Griffin, Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, Loleatta Holloway, John McNeil, Cassietta George, and Delores Washington.
She is featured in the book entitled Who’s Who in Black America as well as other volumes related to the Golden Age of Gospel Music. She received several keys to various cities and was honored at the Chicago Gospel Festival where a bench bearing her name was placed in downtown Chicago’s Grant Park. The City of Chicago paid tribute to her by renaming 35th and Cottage Grove “Albertina Walker and The Caravans Drive”. She was conferred an honorary Doctor of Letters Degree by the Chicago Theological Seminary, an institution of the University of Chicago.
She co-founded the Gospel Music Workshop of America along with James Cleveland. She lent her support to many charitable organizations such as the United Negro College Fund, American Cancer Society, National Council of Negro Women, Nation of Islam’s Million Family March, One Voice: “A Fight Against AIDS”, NAACP, and Operation Push. In 1988 she founded The Albertina Walker Scholarship Foundation for the Creative and Performing Arts. Her foundation offers financial assistance to college students in the form of scholarships to further their education in the field of music. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Chatters That Matter Celebrating Autism Awareness Month with Hot Mike and Kia Shine from THE EMBC TV NETWORK on Vimeo.
Raised in Linden, New Jersey, part of the New York Metro area, bordering Staten Island, Michael Eric Buckholtz, (also nicknamed ‘Buck‘) an aboriginal Cherokee, officially, got his musical start, at 7 years old. His first instrument (at his father’s insistence on discipline) was the clarinet. Later, he developed a passion for the electric bass guitar. Michael’s mission, then, became to learn many other instruments and become proficient with the piano. In 1975, the family moved south to Macon, GA., the home of Otis Redding and Little Richard, continuing his musical development in the family band. In late 1989, he joined MC Hammer’s record label, Bust-It Records, distributed by Capitol Records, eventually writing and producing music for Hammer and many label mates. Officially diagnosed as autistic, Michael decided to author the book, “Autism Is My Universe“, as a way of sharing his personal point of reference living with autism while “Black“. Michael’s understanding of his autistic traits, as well as others, continues to evolve. He was invited, by ANCA Consulting, to British Columbia, Canada, for a book signing, to share his message about recognizing the importance of accepting autistic people. In 2012, Music Producer Hot Mike received Canada’s INAP “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award, along with a Canadian Parliamentary certificate of recognition. In 2016, he was featured in ZOOM Autism Magazine’s ninth issue. Michael is, also, acknowledged, in the New York Times Best Seller “NeuroTribes – The Legacy of Autism…”, by author (and good friend) Steve Silberman. Currently, he is a Member Board of Trustees with YICUNITY.org who’s mission believes individuals with disabilities should have the same right as non-disabled individuals to have access to a full range of available employment opportunities and to earn a living wage in a job of their choosing based on their talents, skills, and interests. This includes access to training and employment services to aid individuals with disabilities in obtaining gainful employment in a field of their interest and choosing. Hot Mike’s focus is on jobs centered in the music industry.
Today, Music Producer Hot Mike is, still, under contract through Warner/Chappell, as a composer, producing and designing music for companies, TV and film. You can follow Mike on Twitter at @OfficialHotMike. officialhotmike.com/ Nakia Shine Coleman (born October 17, 1975), better known by his stage name Kia Shine, is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer from Memphis, Tennessee. He is perhaps best known for his commercial debut single "Krispy", which is also the lead single from his 2007 debut album Due Season. He has worked with several fellow rappers, such as Mike Jones, Yo Gotti, Nelly, Jim Jones, among others. Kia Shine is co-CEO, alongside rapper Jack Frost, of Rap Hustlaz. Kia Shine won the Southern Entertainment Award (S.E.A.) in 2008 for best underground artist having sold over 200,000 albums with his independent label, Rap Hustlaz. His 2007 single "W.O.W." was the inspiration for the "wow" feature on the social media website HellaDoge, where members can earn Dogecoin for making posts and giving "wows" (similar to the "like" feature on other social media). Kia Shine is also an Autism advocate: "We’ve started a nonprofit because we’re autism advocates by default because our son Jameson was diagnosed with nonverbal autism. As my wife always says, when people look for their purpose or their philanthropy [they usually find it], but ours was thrown into our lap and we’ve taken the bull by the horns." Kia Shine and his wife Queen Coleman decided to spread their stories to help other families with autism. twitter.com/THEREALKIASHINE instagram.com/kinfolk_kiashine

From Nellie
[re Trump indictment] The district attorney, Alvin Bragg, is rip-roaring to go: he’s charged Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. (It is sometimes allowed to be said that Alvin Bragg was funded by George Soros, but only when New York mag and Soros want it to be noted in a positive way, but if it’s said with a vaguely negative tone then it’s a Fact Check: False.) Regardless, the case against Trump seems a little weak. The best way to get a sense of its frailty is to read a site that is otherwise thrilled with the arrest, like Vox.com—over there, even #resistance writer Ian Millhiser agrees that the case is, yeah, really weak.
→ My favorite New York City arrestee: Is not Trump, though we had some fun Tuesday. My favorite is Charlie Javice, the 31-year-old wunderkind founder of a company called Frank, which helped students with financial aid applications. Javice was on top of the world (or at least on the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 list), and in 2021 she sold Frank to JPMorgan for $175 million. But when JPMorgan started kicking the tires, they realized our girlboss had claimed the company had four million customers—but it only had. . . 300,000. It turns out she basically made up that four million number and a bunch of emails bounced when JPMorgan tried to reach the pool of people. I mean, let them cast the first stone, am I right?
This week, she was arrested on conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, securities fraud, you name it fraud.
If you’re like me and enjoy reading complaints, you might enjoy SEC v. Javice for gems like how she paid a data science professor to build her Potemkin village of student users: “In a series of messages, Javice guided the Data Science Professor in creating a list of fake user data, answering questions from him about how the data should look.”
Now she’s out on bail. But I think this arrest is foolish. If I were JPMorgan, I wouldn’t sue her, and here’s why: Javice sold her company for $175 million. But what did she pay the data scientist who made her entire fake company, filling it with fake activity? $18,000. He didn’t even get healthcare. If I were JPMorgan, I’d keep talent like that in-house. Charlie, come run The Free Press! ***
→ This is how democracy does abortion rights: Michigan Dems won back full control of the government for the first time in 40 years, and with that power they repealed an old and defunct 1931 abortion ban that was still on the books. The fall of Roe is forcing states to grapple with abortion through old-fashioned democracy, and Michigan is showing that it can be done and done well.
Across the country, in races big and small, abortion is proving to be a very powerful tool for Democrats, who have public opinion behind them. In Wisconsin, liberal Janet Protasiewicz won the empty seat on the state Supreme Court. Wisconsin’s had a near-total ban on abortion since Roe fell. By basing her campaign around her pro-choice stance, Protasiewicz beat the conservative candidate by 11 points. And now Dems have a majority on the court.***

***At 1:19 p.m. Thursday, [Loveland, Colorado] PD dispatch received a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the parking lot of the north Walmart location, 250 W. 65th St., according to the release. Police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a 27-year-old man trapped under a 2016 Chevrolet sedan driven by an 83-year-old Loveland woman.
The release added that rescue efforts were “unfortunately unsuccessful” and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. While the man’s identity was not released by the LPD, the department confirmed that he was an employee of the Walmart location and was in the process of returning carts into the store when the crash occurred.
Bob Coleman, the police department’s public information officer, said it is unknown at this time if charges will be filed against the driver.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, the release added; the department also said there were no signs of impairment and speed is not believed to have been involved.*** https://www.reporterherald.com/2023/04/06/worker-at-north-loveland-walmart-killed-in-parking-lot-crash/

$1.4M is the median?
Tech entrepreneur Bob Lee, who created the mobile payment service Cash App, was stabbed to death in a well-to-do San Francisco neighborhood — in Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s district — on Tuesday morning, authorities and loved ones said.
The 43-year-old dad of two, who formerly served as the chief technology officer of Square, was attacked in the city’s downtown Rincon Hill neighborhood at 2:35 a.m., according to San Francisco police.
Officers arrived to find the victim, later confirmed to be Lee by CBS News, with multiple stab wounds.***
Jake Shields, Lee’s friend, and a mixed martial arts champion, revealed Lee was attacked while he was walking.
“He was in the ‘good’ part of the city and appeared to have been targeted in a random mugging/attack,” Shields tweeted.
He later said Lee had moved out of the Democrat-run city, which has had constant problems with homeless people and drug addicts in recent years, because of how it has been changing for the worse.
He told NewsNation: “He did comment on San Francisco deteriorating, which is why he actually had just relocated to Miami.
The median house price in Rincon Hill is $1.4 million, according to realtor.com. *** https://nypost.com/2023/04/05/cash-app-founder-bob-lee-43-killed-in-san-francisco-stabbing/

Maybe let middle school go????
19-year-old William Whitworth threatened “to shoot up multiple schools and churches in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to an affidavit from the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s (DA) Office.”
Whitworth’s sister called the sheriff’s office to their home, reporting multiple threats Whitworth had allegedly made against schools in the area. Deputy Mike Watters asked Whitworth if he intended to shoot up a school, to which Whitworth nodded his head “yes,” according to the affidavit. Whitworth said Timberview Middle School, which he allegedly attended for fifth, sixth and seventh grade, was one of his “main targets,” but that he also intended to shoot up churches, according to the document.***
Whitworth offered to show Watters his manifesto, but in the process of looking for it police found several notebooks with drawings of desk setups and floor plans, including a drawing of a clock apparently to use as a detonation device, according to the affidavit. The notebook also listed the name of conservative Canadian activist Lauren Southern, calling her “pathetic,” and Donald Trump, whom he called a “con-man.” Police also retrieved a copy of “The Communist Manifesto” as evidence, according to the document.
Another notebook police believed to be the manifesto contained “a list of firearms and how to 3D print them,” “detailed lists of numerous named individuals to be killed and their indented casualty versus injury rate,” “information detailing the creation of improvised explosive devices” and “the Finalization of locations being Timberview Middle School, Prairie Hills Elementary, and Pine Creek High School,” according to the affidavit.*** https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/06/whitworth-colorado-shooting-threats-middle-school/

Florida teen murders
MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Two arrests were made after three teenagers were fatally shot and found in various parts of Ocklawaha, a rural Marion County community, last week.
Seventeen-year-old Robert Le'Andrew Robinson and a 12-year-old boy were arrested in connection to the crime and will be charged with first-degree murder, according to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods. A third suspect who is 16 years old is still on the loose. WESH 2 will not name the younger suspects due to their age.
Woods alleges the group of six teens, including 16-year-old Layla Silvernail, were together in her car when the murders happened. He emphasized, "she was there on her own free will."
“We had out there it was gang-related. We have nothing specific to say that it was a rivalry. However, in some shape or another, each were associated with a gang,” Woods said.***
At some point, the juvenile suspects turned on the three victims in what the sheriff described as a robbery. “These three individuals turned on our victims and murdered them. They fled the scenes and left a lot of evidence in their wake,” Woods said.
A witness heard gunshots at the time detectives believe the three teens were all murdered at one time, according to the sheriff’s office.*** https://www.wesh.com/article/florida-teens-murdered-arrests/43538177

The one time press admits carrying a semi-automatic rifle is legit
AUSTIN, Texas — A jury on Friday found Army Sgt. Daniel Perry guilty of murder for shooting and killing an Air Force veteran three years ago during a Black Lives Matter protest in the city, Perry’s attorney confirmed.
The two-week trial ended after a jury of eight women and four men deliberated for more than 15 hours. They found Perry not guilty on a second charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Perry faces up to life in prison. Judge Cliff Brown as of Friday had not yet scheduled a sentencing hearing.
Perry, 35, was assigned to Fort Hood and had been driving the 70 miles south to Austin to work a second job with a rideshare company when he encountered protesters in the city’s downtown at about 9:51 p.m. on July 25, 2020. Garrett Foster, an Air Force veteran, was among the protesters and legally carrying an AK-47-type assault rifle, according to the Austin Police Department. Perry told police that he saw Foster point the weapon at him, so he fired his own gun five times, killing the 28-year-old Foster. ***

Do we need a Michigan man tag?
Christian Katan Mansoor, 18, of Macomb Township was darting around in a silver BMW with flashing red and blue lights on Monday, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Around 11 p.m., Mansoor allegedly pulled up behind an off-duty Waterford Township police officer in Rochester Hills. Police said he was allegedly attempting to conduct a traffic stop.***
The off-duty officer said that Mansoor previously passed her, and she was suspicious when he pulled her over. After introducing herself, she asked Mansoor what precinct he worked for and his identification.
According to officials, Mansoor claimed that he was a Detroit police officer with the 12th Precinct, and told the off-duty police officer that he needed to retrieve his identification from his vehicle.
Mansoor evidently had no intention of returning with his ID. He reportedly drove away, but the off-duty officer continued the chase, following him to a trailer park in Shelby Township.*** https://www.foxnews.com/us/michigan-man-charged-impersonating-police-pulling-actual-cop

***Casie Bock, a 29-year-old woman who lived in the home, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with accessory to homicide.
Haskel Leroy Crawford, a 38-year-old man who was already facing homicide charges in nearby Jefferson County in an unrelated case, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Thursday.
Police originally received a tip on Monday that a 36-year-old man who has been missing since last summer was murdered inside a condo in the Denver suburb of Aurora. The caller stated that the victim was buried in a crawl space.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and found the victim entombed in concrete underneath the floor. Outside contractors are working with authorities on excavating the body, which could take through the end of the week.
Bock told police that Crawford, her ex-boyfriend and the mother of her two children, murdered their neighbor, 36-year-old Karl Beaman, some time last summer, according to an arrest affidavit. Crawford became convinced that Beaman was a police informant after the pair almost got caught stealing catalytic converters, the affidavit said. *** https://www.foxnews.com/us/colorado-police-find-missing-man-buried-concrete-clandestine-grave-arrest-two-suspects

How often to leopards change their spots?
*** D.C. police Chief Robert Contee recently observed that the average murder suspect in his jurisdiction has 11 prior arrests. This is evidence that the failure to impose salutary consequences on habitual offenders emboldens them and helps them graduate to worse and more violent crimes.
Crime, not incarceration, is the real enemy of public safety and human flourishing. It is true that incarceration is not appropriate for everyone who breaks the law. But for violent and repeat criminals, it is the only tried and true method of preventing all types of crime, ranging from burglary to mass shootings.
As we noted recently, incarceration is working wonders in El Salvador, where the abrupt mass arrest of more than 60,000 gang members and allies has made the world's most violent country safer than most U.S. cities. The United States doesn't need such a drastic measure, but it does need prosecutors and judges to put more violent and repeat criminals away for long periods of time. Prison systems are not good at rehabilitating people, but they are very good at protecting the public from the vicious behavior of their inmates. In the meantime, by imposing serious consequences, not necessarily incarceration, for less serious crimes, local jurisdictions can break the cycle, curbing the creation and emboldening of the next generation of long-term prison inmates.
That is what real reform looks like. It is as far as possible from the idea of letting more criminal predators loose on the larger population. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/crime-not-incarceration-is-the-problem

Florida gets real
Florida Senate Bill 1342, if enacted, would authorize D/P for child rape if the perp was 18 or older and the victim was less than 12.
Rape was a capital crime. Coker v. Georgia, 433 U.S. 584 (1977) recognized the long historical tradition of rape as a capital crime, but said "with respect to rape of an adult woman, *** a sentence of death is grossly disproportionate and excessive punishment.” States retained D/P for child rape.
Decades later, J. Anthony Kennedy & four friends said there was a consensus against D/P for child rapists. Patrick Kennedy forcibly raped his 8 y/o step daughter and inflicted, permanent, painful injuries on her reproductive organs. Despite Congress Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U. S. 407 (2008)
Congress enacted See Pub. L. 109–163, § 552(b)(1), 119 Stat. 3263 in 2005 making D/P an authorized punishment for military personnel convicted of child rape.
the bill providing the death penalty for child rape passed the Senate 95–0; it passed the House 374–41, with the votes of a majority of each State's delegation; and was signed by the President. J. Scalia, dissenting, Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U.S. 945, 129 S.Ct. 1 (Mem), 3
J. Scalia also noted,
the views of the American people on the death penalty for child rape were, to tell the truth, irrelevant to the majority's decision in this case. The majority opinion, after an unpersuasive attempt to show that a consensus against the penalty existed, in the end came down to this: “ ‘[T]he Constitution contemplates that in the end our own judgment will be brought to bear on the question of the acceptability of the death penalty under the Eighth Amendment.’ ” *** Of course the Constitution contemplates no such thing; the proposed Eighth Amendment would have been laughed to scorn if it had read “no criminal penalty shall be imposed which the Supreme Court deems unacceptable.” But that is what the majority opinion said, and there is no reason to believe that absence of a national consensus would provoke second thoughts. Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U.S. 945, 129 S. Ct. 1, 3 (2008)
If you get 2/3 of congress and 3/4 of the state to vote that D/P for child rape is abolished, could Florida plausibly try to pass this bill? Look at Art V. At the moment, you can say they have at least a shot.

The mother of a 6-year-old student who shot his first grade teacher in Newport News, Virginia, in January was indicted by a Virginia grand jury on Monday.
Deja Taylor, the mother of the unnamed student, was charged with felony child neglect and a misdemeanor of recklessly leaving a loaded firearm so as to endanger a child, according to Newport News prosecutor Howard Gwynn.***
The firearm legally belonged to Taylor. An attorney for Taylor said both parents were “committed to responsible gun ownership and keeping firearms out of the reach of children.” The attorney said they tried to keep the firearm used in the shooting away from the child, according to the Guardian.
The 6-year-old, who has a severe disability, badly wounded his first grade teacher, 25-year-old Abigail Zwerner, at Richneck Elementary School on Jan. 6. The incident occurred after school administrators were warned that the child possessed a gun and was in a "violent mood" at the school. The boy will not face any criminal charges.
The shooting occurred while Zwerner was sitting at a table. She had gotten into an argument with the student. Zwerner was shot in the hand and chest, and she spent two weeks in a hospital. She has since filed a $40 million lawsuit against the school board.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/courts/mother-six-year-old-shooter-virginia-indicted-grand-jury

Dying in Gangster’s Paradise
LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper Coolio suffered an accidental death from the effects of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine last year, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported Thursday.
The county agency also cited cardiomyopathy, a disease that makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood to the body, as a “significant condition.” Investigators also determined Coolio’s severe asthma and cigarette smoking played a role in his death.
Coolio’s former longtime manager Jarez Posey also confirmed the cause of death Thursday.
Coolio — born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., on Aug. 1, 1963 — died at the Los Angeles home of a friend on Sept. 28, 2022. He was 59.
Coolio won a Grammy for best solo rap performance for “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the 1995 hit from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film “Dangerous Minds” that sampled Stevie Wonder’s 1976 song “Pastime Paradise.”
Coolio was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Compton, California.*** https://www.fox10tv.com/2023/04/06/gangstas-paradise-rapper-coolios-death-fentanyl-caused/

Harsh order
A Fremont County District Court judge last week threw out a first-degree murder charge to punish prosecutors for failing to turn over information to defense attorneys — part of what the judge said is a pattern of widespread discovery violations by 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley and her staff.
In a scathing 21-page order, Judge Kaitlin Turner listed 20 cases over the last two years in which prosecutors in Stanley’s office have failed to turn over discovery information to defense attorneys as required by law.
The judge then found a similar violation had occurred in the murder case before her and ordered that the first-degree murder charge against defendant Joseph Tippet be reduced to a second-degree murder charge as a sanction for prosecutors’ misconduct.
“This pattern (of discovery violations) has persisted despite the imposition of many and varied sanctions against the District Attorney and even despite specific warnings about the apparent lack of oversight and supervision in the District Attorney’s discovery process,” the judge wrote in the order. “The District Attorney’s pattern of neglect reveals an urgent and serious need for the District Attorney to modify its discovery practices.”*** https://www.denverpost.com/2023/04/10/linda-stanley-sanctioned-discovery-violations-pattern-barry-morphew-complaint/

Colorado Springs shooter, 19-year-old William Whitworth
*** According to the affidavit, investigators found the manifesto, a dry-erase board with floor plans, and a list of names in a notebook.
Whitworth said the manifesto was four pages long and had "schizophrenic rants" on them. However, the affidavit states when deputies asked if she was schizophrenic, she replied "I hope not."
According to the affidavit, Whitworth was asked how much she knew about school shootings, and she stated, "Too much." When asked what she meant by that, Whitworth stated "There's a page in my manifesto and there's a bunch of mass killers."
On the dry-erase board, investigators noted it looked like a labeled floor plan of a school, with labels identifying the office, bathrooms, classrooms, and the different levels.
In two different notebooks, deputies found more floor plans, a drawing of a clock to use a detonation device stating, "Remove clock intemials and drive a screw into the desired detonation time on the face of the clock, and "Is this what they meant when they said making a mockery of the massacre?"
Whitmore stated she watched a video on YouTube on "how to do it" regarding the picture of a detonator.
Deputies obtained a search warrant of the home and found "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and more books with notes. Written inside one book had written inside, "Ways I want to die," with a list stating murder, burning alive, freezing, and drowning.
Another book had the following statements found inside, according to the arrest affidavit:
In short, a brief of the manifestos contents detailed:
A list of firearms and how to 3D print them
Detailed lists of numerous named individuals to be killed and their indented casualty versus injury rate.
Information detailing the creation of improvised explosive devices
The Finalization of locations being Timberview Middle School, Prairie Hills Elementary, and Pine Creek High School
According to the affidavit, one of the notebooks also had a list of various mass shooters, serial killers, politicians, and entertainers with commentary on each.
Below is how the names were listed in the affidavit:
Eric and Dylan: Losers
Adam Lanza: To smart
Isreal Keyes: Degenerate
Lauren Southern: Pathetic
Vaush: Terrorist
Donald J. Trump: Con-mam
Bad cops: Useless garbage
Stockholm, Name: Liam K.
Whitworth has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 5, 2023. The bond is currently set at $75,000.

Calling it tantra doesn‘t mean it’s not prostitution
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An El Paso County businesswoman convicted of pimping out multiple women over several years will not spend time in jail or prison.
In December 2022, 32-year-old Shirley King was convicted of Pimping, Keeping A Place of Prostitution, Prostitution, and Pandering-Arranging Prostitution.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced the former owner of Sutra Healing Center to four years of supervised probation. The sentence bans King from practicing hands-on massage therapy or "tantra" treatments for healing purposes during those years.
An informant told investigators that King gave massages out of her business located at the 500 block of Marquette Dr. in El Paso County with “happy endings” or sexual acts, but classified the interactions as “tantra.”***
Prosecutors said King would target women struggling with substance abuse and pimp them out. However, two of King’s former ‘employees’ spoke during sentencing in support of the business owner, arguing that they were not pimping victims.
Before her sentencing, King told the court she intends to work as a life coach, focused on healing people. https://krdo.com/news/2023/02/22/el-paso-county-convicted-pimp-will-not-serve-jail-time/

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A former attorney with the Public Defenders Office in Colorado Springs has been suspended from practicing law for 90 days after an investigation into his conduct with a former mistress. 41-year-old Christopher Melichar pleaded guilty to posting a private image for harassment, namely sending sexually explicit videos to his mistress's husband, as a form of revenge.
According to the narrative of the investigation into his conduct, Melichar was involved in a relationship with a married woman in August 2020, during his time as a public defender. The report says he received, took, and threatened to share nude pictures of the woman. The woman claimed she did not consent to the pictures being taken because she was too intoxicated to consent at the time.
After refusing to continue a sexual relationship with him, Melichar sent nude photos and a video depicting her giving him oral sex to the woman's husband. The husband alerted police and Melichar was arrested on misdemeanor charges.
After pleading guilty in May 2021 and being sentenced to 2-years of unsupervised probation in December 2022, Melichar found himself under investigation by the Colorado Attorney Regulation Counsel.***
Melichar's attorney, Adam Yoast, told 13 Investigates he and his former mistress have made amends and are expecting a child together in October. They felt the 90-day suspension was the best resolution all involved. https://krdo.com/news/2023/04/11/former-colorado-springs-public-defender-barred-from-practicing-law-after-revenge-porn-incident/

When you hate someone, you hate his family, you hate his friends, you hate everyone who met him
One man was shot dead and three others injured in a “targeted” attack outside a funeral home in Washington, DC, police said.
The shooting erupted just before 12:30 p.m. after mourners had left a service for a murder victim at the Stewart Funeral Home in Northeast Washington.
“It’s unfortunate that someone would be so brazen to do such an act, let alone at a funeral,” DC Police Chief Robert Contee said at a press conference.***
The funeral service was being held for 24-year-old Stephon Lamont Carroll, according to an online obituary.
Carroll was shot dead in Southeast Washington in the early hours of March 24, cops said. The gunman in that case hasn’t yet been caught.
A police officer had been stationed close to the funeral home at the request of the family, which Contee said was routine procedure for services of homicide victims.*** https://nypost.com/2023/04/11/several-people-shot-outside-dc-funeral-home-cops/

(Apparently it's only been one day since Nick came out to his mum "last night" - thanks to @indi-glo for that. I think the montage was misplaced in that case.)
"But I'd like to see [Isaac] participate more." Bitch me too tf
I'm too fucking old for this series, the parents are right on the money. Charlie's mum is a valid gingerTM
I like the family intro. Very Snazzy.
Me when I see Olivia Coleman: Oh wow, it's Olivia Coleman.
*while Charlie plays the drums* yes, play!
How did Ben and Imogen move that fast? Straight relationships aren't like that, I could've sworn.
SAHAR IS SA-HERE
Nick and Charlie are lucky Mr Farouk let them chat that long. Can they not call afterwards? Stressing me out, these kids
Nick, just shush Ben loudly. Or ask Farouk to switch seats.
I bet David would make a joke about Nick's "fairy" lights. Also him trying to rate Nick's gf is very scummy
"Like everyone knowing you as 'the trans girl'. Here I can just... be Naomi." I feel like that would likely happen again, depending on how well one passes.
I'm watching without subtitles so I have no idea what Tao's mum said. Regardless, no phones at the table.
"Because I still don't get quadratic equations-" Oh my god, you are going to fail. I cannot help this girl.
Okay, hindsight is a hell of a thing, but I would've told Imogen that he hurt Charlie a few months ago. It won't out him as anything but a prick.
I really like how Nick's distress was visualised.
Me seeing Nellie again: PUBBY
Nick putting on a Marvel movie is proof that Tao was right to be wary about rugby lads
Nick's panic that he was outed to a family member, so relatable :'-D
"You left a picture of you two kissing on my bedroom wall." That is gay tbf.
Nick's mum asking how David would feel if Nick went in his bedroom and David saying that he wouldn't care is so real. Shame it was background noise.
I'm on Charlie's mum's side, tbh. I like Charlie's dad too.
Tao's hair looks decent in the scene with his mum. I think it works better when it's not head-on.
There's definitely something to be said about Tao and his mum being outspoken while his dad was the calm one. That balance being gone is a great insight into Tao's own nature. I just really love that scene, I want to hug them both.
Charlie and Isaac just getting their fucking snacks only for Tao to bust in with all that: 😶😶

Tori already seems bored of being a 25 year old still at high school. Damn, I'd be too.
Exactly how much time has passed since S1E8 because they're in the same mixed-group Y10/Y11 (this makes sense since these are GCSE years)? How many weeks?
Imogen's dog didn't even do a full roll. Pathetic (I am being light-hearted, it's a cute dog).
Me at every non-Harry rugby lad that interacts with Nick or Charlie: (Mackenzie Zales voice) who the fuck are you
How long would Elle have walked with Tao had her mother never shown up. How long.
Ben is right. They are being very gay. They also talk very loudly in the locker room.
I would have shh-ed Ben very obviously but I don't know if guys do that.
I am happy to see Tao and his dumplings (TAO'S BAOS). Now let him punch racist Harry in the face.
Glad to see Isaac starting to have an arc but it could've started in S1.
How come only Elle and Tao were outside and only working on Elle's art GCSE? I get everyone except Isaac (maybe him too, possibly) would know to give them alone time but it just seems unnatural given that they were all in the front room and then those two just popped outside.
Honestly, Tao is allowed (all-Tao-wed) to be confused/put off by his best friend trying to kiss him. It's a kind of change that you need to talk about at the beginning of a relationship and they haven't even started it.
I'm curious as to how Elle's experience as a black trans girl factors into this but I doubt it'll be brought up.
If I needed to pee but my friend decided to dwaddle about trying to come out to me, I'd kill him. Imogen is a saint for that.
Imogen is right. It was very obvious. She is also very sweet and I'll protect her forever.
Elle, stop talking about trying to flirt with Tao. He's right there. Other people are there.
Tao, Nick and Charlie need to get off their phones and go to sleep.
