How do the bishops get along with their witnesses and mini bosses?
Drew out the witnesses because they're pretty interesting to me!! But I'll include a little blurb on the mini-bosses :]
For context, in my au I take the term "witness" very literally, as in the witnesses are someone who witnessed the crowning of a bishop.
The mini bosses were their most treasured disciples!
Yapping and art below the cut !!
Leshy and Agares are very close, having been childhood best friends after Agares was discovered. In her words, "I've known Leshy longer than he's been a man"
Valefar and Barbatos are, of course, his 2 most trusted disciples. Leshy met them when they were all teenagers, and they'd sneak around aiding him in his missions of chaos- earning them their status. He loves em, even if they make bad decisions sometimes. Amdusias is his most recent disciple, one the others are a little uncertain about. Leshy bites people who voice doubt, though, so no one says anything.
Heket and Bathin have quite the bond, and if you ask Bathin she'd refer to Heket as her older sister. If you asked Heket, she'd probably sock you in the face for looking at her funny.
Gusion, Eligos and Zepar are Hekets most trusted disciples, of course, with Narinder claiming that he and Heket had found the 3 as tadpoles while on a walk as kids, and they had just causally kidnapped them and brought them home. They love to shit-talk people together, and I can best equate them to a really tight knit friend group.
Astaroth was Kallamars' first spouse of many (I'll get into that in like 4 lines max), and would do ANYTHING for him. All witnesses were difficult to convert, but Lamb had to put Astaroth in a cell for like a week before Harborym managed to convince them to be nice.
Kallamars' head disciples are also his spouses- I've mentioned it in a post before somewhere. They all love to tease Heket for being the only bishop to figure it out, and she loves to threaten to tell Shamura about it. They're all extremely close, as you could expect. It's rare to see any of them walking around alone.
None of the bishops, none of their witnesses, and none of their disciples have ever met Shamuras' witness Allocer. Most believe that, with Shamuras' age, they might not have a witness, or their witness may have already been slain.
Shamuras' head disciples were their first 3 followers, and the 3 people who helped them end the era of 100 gods. Vephar is definitely the friendliest, being the one to speak to the other bishops and their disciples + witnesses. The group is stereotyped as being quiet and mystical, but occasionally one makes an inside joke and all of them lose it. In the formative years, with Shamura suffering from their injury, Focalor, Vephar and Hauras have been doing most of the smaller kingdom duties.
Narinders' witness is no longer a witness.
His old disciples were the first to be sacrificed. Narinder doesn't speak of them, and neither does anyone else.

THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT!
This is one of my delusional cotl theories, I worked about a few days for it so don't wait too much. It's very long, just so you know
Today, our subject is the bishops. Though in cult of the lamb wiki's story segment states a few events, no evidence and connection is shown. And considering that wiki pages are written by people, it's not a %100 correct.
Death of bishops
Ever wondered why Narinder is the only bishop you can make a follower before Mystic Sellers appearance? Or why don't the bishops end up with Narinder when they die? Let me tell you.
When we kill a bishop, they don't end in the death realm but end up with Mystic. That's why we can only get them back after being introduced to the seller. They own them.
And Narinder? He already lives in the death realm and if you notice, you don't entirely defeat him until the option segment, his life bar still having a bit of hp. You only hurt with him until he can't fight. When you choose to kill him, he then gets sent to Mystic for us to claim him later on.
Mystic's thoughts
"I recall Leshy. Prior to yourself, he was the last to bargain with me. Adept as he was, he rose quickly to the challenges of Godhood, aided by his siblings. Many were drawn to his chaotic ways."
Mystic Seller seems to observe and know everything that had gone through Leshy's godhood even moments of help from his siblings. Tho, not the first godhood.
"I am not inclined to emotion, the way your kind are. Though if I were, Heket would certainly inspire amusement. She was perhaps the most vicious of them. Wicked beast."
No matter how badly the Mystic Seller spoke of Heket's actions, they seem to find sadistic inspiration in her actions. They do not have characteristics such as emotion, but observation expands their world. Which is weird, because that's probably a look you'd wait for Leshy.
"It did not matter to Kallamar that his ears were lost, for he was never inclined to listen. Foolish though he may have seemed, he wielded the power of his Crown without discrimination."
We all know Kallamar's cowardice. But Mystic does not see this as cowardice and even interprets this fear, which has become a self-protection mechanism, as a strategy. Cause Mystic has no emotions and can't understand fear.
"Shamura and I did not barter much. In truth, they need little from me. Truly, 'twas shame what became of them."
Mystic and Shamura seem to actually talk and have a conversation unlike the other siblings Mystic talks about. And Shamura is the only bishop that Mystic sees higher, thinking that Shamura didn't need them at all.
"A toy for you. Benefactor, comrade, malignant foe... redemption or punishment, 'tis yours to confer as you see fit." Gifts you Narinder as a Follower in his exclusive Follower Form. (Without the immortal trait)
This section is important because Mystic doesn't say anything about Narinder's past. While they normally talk about an event that happened in his siblings' own lives, Narinder doesn't seem to mean much to them. They neither belittle him nor exalt him. Narinder is very unimportant to them.
Now, I'd like to think that Mystic were there. Before the whole argument, it wasn't only the 5 bishops. Mystic saw it, Mystic heard it. Maybe even lived with them. Raised them, even. Mystic Seller, is the creator of them. Yeah. I said it. God of gods. How else can you explain him just replace the very gods you killed and put them back in their purged realms? Or idk, carry the ex god of death by their little tiny winy legs? Literally posses the body of the new god??? Tho, it seems like they are not the same realms anymore as if those places were... Altered.
Shamura. Wanna talk?
Shamura is both refered to as the god of war and god of might, which are quite the opposite of each other.
War, is something that grows from misunderstandings, greed and not thinking straight, which isn't very fit for god of might. And well, that made me think... I think... The bishops didn't/was supposed to have these roles before their fight with Narinder.
"I am not what I once was. Though no longer wise, I am no fool."
Shamura is aware that they are no longer the god of might, yet something another.
So this might mean, before the betrayal, the bishops had opposite godhoods. Or were supposed to have these godhoods.
Kallamar = God of health
Heket = Goddess of abundance
Leshy = God of peace
This makes sense when you consider the people that follow them. Why would someone follow a god who just means nothing but trouble? Even in our cult, we teach people about death and after life, reassure them or teach them. We make sense.
"I introduced him to ideas of change; for my domain is knowledge, and it is ever evolving. An organic state of being for myself, but for him… most unnatural. Death cannot flow backward." -Shamura
This. That green? Yeah that one. That's when Narinder's betrayal happened. Shamura, showed Narinder that there was a way to change things, which Narinder ended up doing so. And what did he do? Death cannot flow backward, he tried to give life. Narinder, the only member in the family that probably ended up with such negative thing as being the god of death, tried to make life.
"Bonds of familial duty, turned instead to chains. Most voracious of appetites, curbed and contained. Most infectious of ideas cut off and cauterised before given chance to rot and spread. Cruel, verily. Alas, what other recourse was given? How does one kill Death? ... Alas. One cannot." -Haro
Haro also seems to confirm this. The infectious ideas said there are, or rather is, Narinder's wish to change. Narinder's idea to change his own godhood. Tho, why would the bishops be so against it?
Notice how Haro has a "fallen" crown? Haro, probably back in the day, was the owner/god of Darkwood at some point. His unused animation also looks a lot like Leshy's transformation animation.
Haro, is possibly the first god that tried to change their godhood. In return, he got punished by loosing his crown and getting expelled from his godhood. This would explain why Leshy is the youngest, because he was a replacement.
"But as millennia wore on, he grew discontent with his role. He began to question. He was gluttonous in his ambition. And in my imprudence I loved him. For it, I lost my mind. For it, he lost his freedom. Can you fathom such betrayal, Lamb?"
Shamura knew what happened to Haro. After showing Narinder that there was a way to change things, they regretted it. Shamura genuinely loved their brother, no matter if it was by blood or by creator. The idea of Narinder might end up like Haro was what made Shamura loose their mind. Killing Narinder wasn't a punishment, it was a way to protect him and the remaining ones. The betrayal Shamura say is not Narinder's hostile acts but rather the way he thinks even tho Shamura had warned him.
Now, i know. I said that Mystic knew it and saw it and blah blah. But Mystic were there after Leshy lost his eye, Heket lost her throat and until Narinder's imprisonment. We can understand this from their dialog of witnessing Leshy and Heket's godhood and them saying "It's a shame what become of them" for Shamura is their disappointment of knowing someone like Shamura have ended up like this (Explained at timeline section)
Haro what do you have to say?
"Eons agone, these lands were rife with gods and their adherents. What befell this pantheon? Alas. 'Tis the nature of beasts to forget, and of Gods to be forgotten. Mayhap they left. Mayhap they slept. Mayhap they devoured and were devoured in turn. Those few who remained spread roots, spun webs, molded this world to meet them and theirs. 'Twere a land of many Gods once. Hundreds. Now..."
(the ones below are theories I can't really prove)
1-Haro, was probably the oldest, along with Shamura, god. He might be one of Mystic's first creation.
2-Haro seems to be talking about fox. Or kinda refers to him. The fox is known for taking Ratau, eating him. So this also makes the fox, or people like the fox known and been around.
3-Hundreds of gods, he says. Currently, we only have 10 (At the bottom) So, there was a class fight.
A little thing about Narinder and the twins. Heaven and hell, does in fact exist in the cotl universe. You can see it in the ascension and sacrifice rituals. Going above and going below. Fly to heaven and dragged to hell.
Which means dead souls are being sorted. Considering the fact that Narinder is restricted to move anywhere, that job ends up with the twins. Baal, obviously with his kind and respectful attitude, works in heaven. Aym, on the other hand, is very aggressive and intimidating so works in hell.
Timeline
A hundred gods, roamed on realms. For various reasons, they died of or how I like to refer, ended up in Mystic's hands.
Mystic created Shamura, Haro, Kallamar and Narinder. Understood them, talked with them.
Allocer and Astaroth were given to Shamura then to Kallamar, to encourage them into godhood and cult culture.
Heket was created, tho wasn't crowned.
Haro lost his godhood by disobeying, altering. This lead to the creation of Leshy.
After creation of Leshy, Mystic was not there to attend and see Leshy and Heket stepping into godhood.
Shamura took care of his siblings and helped them into godhood. Tho it's questionable on how good they managed that.
Agares and Bathin was given by Shamura to Heket and Leshy, to teach them about the same culture.
Shamura introduced Narinder to idea of change. Narinder refused his role as god of death and tried to be god of life.
Shamura knew what would happen to Narinder if the crown giver, Mystic Seller, learned about this. This caused an argument, most likely because Narinder believed that Haro was judged unfairly. So, there it came "see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil, think no evil"
The siblings lost their original godhoods. "If that's my destiny, you're coming down with me" kind of stuff.
Leshy and Heket stepped into godhood by the help of Shamura and Kallamar to be able to protect themselves. (Their rapid transition to godhood explains why they were defeated more easily than Kallamar and Shamura. They are inexperienced gods. If you notice, after the battle of Heket, Kallamar's battle is actually surprisingly difficult and fast.)
Witnesses hid in respective realms.
Mystic Seller came back. Narinder was not present yet what he left behind was. He saw the other bishops. Mystic Seller knew Heket and Leshy as the gods they were know. Not as what they were supposed to be.
"Five points to a pentagram, five portents of doom, five siblings stood abreast, five gods and one tomb..." Shamura's summarizing of the whole story. Their family and how it doomed. How the remaining bishops and Mystic had to kill Narinder and trap him in after life, the gateway being his tomb.
Shamura learned about the prophecy after a few centuries or more. That lead to the geno¢ide of sheep.
The gateway/tomb of Narinder before defeating bishops. 5 chains, gray ones belonging to bishops and golden one belonging to Mystic Seller.
A basic classification of the types of deities that we have in cotl:
Mystic Seller: Creator, above gods
Mystic Seller's guards: Deities that exist out time and space and work along Mystic Seller, above gods
Narinder: God of death
Shamura: God of war (formerly god of might)
Kallamar: God of pestilence (formerly health)
Heket: Goddess of famine (formerly abundance)
Leshy: God of chaos (formerly peace)
Aym: Disciple of Narinder, demigod (guider of sinners)
Baal: Disciple of Narinder, demigod (guider of winners)
Haro: Ex god, currently a messenger
Chemach: Eldritch Goddess, One of the oldest remaining Goddess. [She (yes Chemach is a girl) has an Eldritch crown and the crown has eyes. Just like the bishops'. This makes her a god considering her ability to turn living into power, essence and remnant to be used for something else afterwards. (relics)]
Clauneck and Kudaii: Gifted with immortality possibly by their sister, or are gods.
Midas: Golden touch asshole king
The fox: Most likely a demon/god from underworld, considering his soul deals and Haro's dialog.
Ratoo: I can't class him but considering he is living without a whole ass organ and still stays alive, he isn't mortal
Nah, it's just what I think of course also, please check my witness theory and Possession too!
If you want to add to this theory, you can by doing a reblog. I'm preparing a crown theory too, so this is kind of a part one! If this gets popular, I might make a video for it, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I saw an old drawing where follower Nari had to serve drinks to the lamb. Is he, and the bishops when they become followers, made to be servants? Does the lamb eventually see them as "theirs" like they do with their regular followers?
I love that you saw that detail in the drawing of the challenge. I recommend that everyone take a look, there are several interesting things in those drawings.
But returning to your question, it's quite interesting what happened there with the Bishops when the option of them being followers was presented.
In another question I will answer in more detail what happened with Narinder at the start, but here I can say that The False Prophet had every intention of humiliating him as much as possible. BUT since this is inspired by my own playthrough of the game, my Narinder turn out to be so passive? I expected more insulting dialogue or something, but it was surprisingly calm and even cute pfff How does this translate to the story? Well, over time, humiliating him became more a game than malice, so although the cat is in a maid outfit, he works with the babies to "redeem himself", which is not so bad.
Leshy was the first to be brought into the cult and the leader didn't have much trouble putting him to work with the rest. As I said before, of all the bishops, Leshy was the least problematic with his previous existence, so it was easy for them to end up getting attached to the grumpy worm. For the same reason, they gave him the flower tunic and the golden skull necklace (although the latter satisfies the whim of keeping him in the cult forever).
Heket follows her brother in being the lesser evil of the rest, although it also responds to the insistence of ????? to do something with the bishops. Considering that each of them costs them one of their beloved followers, as well as the other two, they put her to work as soon as she entered the cult. Interestingly, the frog quickly proved to be a great help and the other followers were delighted with her strength. Again, the leader ended up getting attached and gave her armor (which was the only clothing she would accept) + the necklace.
The three immortals are under the "care" of a follower chosen for them. Narinder has to deal with being under the command of the Lamb, while the other two have companions who serve as a guide and as an interpreter respectively: Camellia and Mushu.
What will happen to Kallamar and Shamura? At the moment it's unknown, neither of them is scoring points to be rescued, although the idea of leaving the squid tied in the prison is tempting.

“There’ve been many souls that have come and gone from the flock, some are just more memorable than others.”
Decided to doodle some cultists I’ve come up for in fics, had in my actual game, or a cool idea i came up with on the spot. Oh and Sozo and Webber are here too :D This is by no means the entirety of the cult, and there may be future followers that stand out too, but for now enjoy these guys. Feel free to ask about them I guess lmao
I will be putting down my written notes under a cut since they’re so small and scribbly ^^;
Brother Tyr, head priest, he/him: The Lamb's 3rd closest. Very stressed despite doing his job for 200 years. Tries and fails to be a peacekeeper in the cult. Tyr and Nari argue a lot.
Brother Narinder, head mortician, he/him: Don't piss him off. The Lamb's spouse. Best source of info on the crowns and outside world. Can do any job around the temple and will. When the Lamb isn't around.
Sister Merbre, temple organizer, she/her: Helob loves her. The main reason the temple runs when Lamb is gone. Has a surprising realist view. Everyone loves her. Romantic at heart.
Yeon, general worker, she/her: Has to let loose in demon form or else. Together with Julno. Friends with Narinder. Seeking absolution from her past crimes. 'Encouraged' Narinder to court Lamb.
Tyna, assistant mortician, they/them: Cult's head goth. Runs the slam poetry night. Also does piercings and tats.
Nanaon, retired missionary, she/her: One of the Lamb's most faithful. Insists she's not that old and can still work. One of the few mortals to earn the respect of both Deaths.
Firyn, farmer, he/him: A worker. Great with people and plants. Born after the fall of the Old Faith. Leshy's companion. Doesn't know the horrors yet. People tend to underestimate him.
Pura, general worker, she/they: Likes Firyn. Likes to manipulate things to her benefit. Doesn't like Leshy. Doesn't realize what being an ex-bishop means. Genuinely respects the Lamb.
Almer, refinery worker, he/him: Shamura's friend. Easy going. Wants a big family. A good confidant. Gives great hugs.
Grayden, silk sorter, they/them: Shamura's friend. Quiet but a beautiful singer. A shy pushover, but will snap.
Julno, farmer, he/him: Came with the 'coward' trait. Still scared of the Lamb, and Yeon's 'bestie' Narinder. Together with Yeon. Doesn't know her murderous urges.
Poppy, she/her: Best friends with Webber, youngest of the cult. Brave and tenacious Webber, he/them: Best friends with Poppy, youngest of the cult. Gentle and curious.
Dr. Sozonius, researcher, he/him: Amnesiac. Lamb is helping him find home. Extremely well educated about biology. Does not like the spider stalking him, or the mushroom.
Keeper, record keeper, she/him: Face is always obscured. Hates the Dark. Doesn't talk about his past. Has a strange locket that ticks. Always smells of salt.
Joobre, refinery worker/tailor, he/them: Loves working with silk. Has tea with Berith. Likes gold jewelry.
Thorty, bartender, he/him: Fights with Nari a lot. Short temper. Best with the drunks.
Bregrear, smith, he/him: Quiet. Knows his way around weapons. Old hat at this point. Hopes to retire in peace.
Harbre, smith apprentice/missionary, any pronouns: Hot tempered. Looks up to Bregrear. Married to Bathin, chases off suitors neither of them like. Longs to master their craft. Protective.
Anar, miner/lumberjack, he/him: Distrusting. Hard worker. Doesn't exactly trust the Lamb, but willing to give the cult a shot. Starts fights.
Fun-Gui, researcher assistant, they/them: Weirdly obsessed with Sozo. Self proclaims as his assistant. Other mushroomos don't like them. Always goopy and dripping.
Hajal, traitor, she/her: Left the cult. Status unknown.

And now Heket's design for The God Of Five Crowns AU is done!
I'm actually super happy with how she came out! I'm gonna be putting together more elaborate outfits for her as well now that the story is moving into winter. I feel like Heket would work at the lumber mill because she gives off buff lumberjack lesbian energy to me and I'm running with it.
Ever since Narinder was chained up, she took on the roll of "Leader" in the wake of Shamura's brain damage. Unlike Narinder and Leshy, she is harsh on Kallamar but also knows when to lay off. She feels she has the right to be harder on Kallamar because she's often the one settling the fights he picks with others.
She visits the med bay frequently for treatments for her throat, and befriends Brenomar (a black bear follower who usually does her treatments), who like her brother Kallamar, knows all the latest gossip going around the cult and dishes out information to her that not even Kallamar knows. Especially pertaining to her siblings.
Sad Headcanon:
She feels incredibly guilty taking on the roll Shamura had before the incident, but did so because neither of her remaining brothers were responsible enough to fill the roll. She was genuinely crushed when she found out Leshy was killed, and even blamed herself for letting her little brother be the first to die. In her final moments fighting the lamb, guilt hit her again when she realized she'd failed Shamura; knowing full well Kallamar would turn against them in his cowardice once she was gone.

In defense of my wife…
Disclaimer: I use she/her pronouns for Kallamar. Why? That’s a transfemme lesbian squid and she told me that while I killed her with a warhammer.
I am also viewing this following essay through the lenses of the Bishops and their family and how they treat each other. This isn’t a defense of how they treat mortals, and isn’t about anything beyond Gods at all.
I understand why Kallamar would tell the Lamb to kill Shamura instead of her. I also think there’s more nuance to it than “omg she would sell out Shammy!” when Shamura is absolutely not blameless. None of the Bishops are. I’m the Bishops’ BIGGEST fan, but I’m not going to act like their family isn’t dysfunctional as all Hell. Now, let’s start from the top.
The age order from eldest to youngest is Shamura, Kallamar, Narinder, Heket, and Leshy. We can tell in the game that Shamura’s favorite was Narinder simply due to the fact they still love him, refused to kill him when we know it’s possible, and kickstarted an entire extinction of a species to ensure he would never be free- but that he would be alive.
x
From Narinder’s dialogue, we can deduce that he hates Kallamar the most.
“Kallamar was always a coward. This land is a better place now her pathetic, sniveling carcass is nothing more than a mound of rotting flesh.“
This isn’t elaborated upon, but his words after her death are downright the most vicious. Narinder says that his older sister was ALWAYS a coward.
Shamura also says this about Kallamar, and as the eldest they would’ve known her longer than Narinder has.
“Kallamar was always frightened of the Red Crown. Yes, fear made a coward of her.”
This implies that not only was Kallamar not always what we see her as, but that Shamura believes her to be afraid of the Red Crown itself. Yet, this is what Kallamar says.
“It seems you cannot be stopped by disease or hunger. And he sends you back from death stronger each time. Please know, it was not my idea to cast out the Red Crown! The other Bishops, my siblings, the blame lies with them. Please, I beg you, spare me. Kill Shamura, but do not send me to my death. Do not send me to him!”
Kallamar acknowledges that neither she nor Heket could stop the Lamb, and that she doesn’t believe she could win against them. That’s why she begs for mercy.
She states that locking Narinder up wasn’t her idea.
At this point in the story if you kill them in the canon order, Leshy and Heket are already dead. Kallamar throwing them under the bus does not matter, as she knows they are dead.
Lastly, Kallamar expresses fear over Narinder. The Red Crown isn’t what scares her. Death isn’t what scares her. It is Narinder himself.
x
Shamura is the one who made the call to lock Narinder up, as they directly state themself.
“Though no longer wise, I am no fool. I know the end draws near. I can take some comfort in confession. The blame hangs heavy 'round my neck. I introduced him to ideas of change; for my domain is knowledge, and it is ever evolving. An organic state of being for myself, but for him… most unnatural. Death cannot flow backward. It was I who had him chained. Forced into subjugation by the four of us.”
It was not a group decision. It was Shamura’s word, and their siblings obeyed them without question. They blame themself, as they’re the one who was letting him “explore” his domain. Since it’s implied that reversing death (for example, resurrection) is heresy, only then did they step in. I assume after this, perhaps Shamura plotted to chain him, Narinder discovered, and that’s why he struck first. Or he directly attacked due to Shamura and the others “turning against him”, and that’s why he was imprisoned. We aren’t told exactly.
All we know is the Bishops have injuries, but Narinder does not. There’s no way in Hell that he could take them on all at the same time, nor that he could beat Shamura or Kallamar. Both of them are more powerful than he is. You could argue that Kallamar wouldn’t fight back, but that would ignore her violence towards the Lamb (who she was terrified of). Shamura is the Bishop of War, and they wouldn’t have willingly let Narinder attack them. Heket sure as Hell wouldn’t have let Narinder get away unscathed if he attacked her head on. Leshy is the only one who wouldn’t have stood a chance.
This makes it seem like he stalked and attacked them while they weren’t aware.
x
So, we know why Narinder did what he did. He said he was betrayed. But we also know that it was Shamura’s idea to imprison him, so why did he target his entire family?
This I believe was out of spite for Shamura themself, as they were obviously devoted to their siblings.
They’re willing to fight the Lamb, knowing they’d be slaughtered, simply in the honor of the other three Bishops.
They kept Narinder alive because they couldn’t bear to kill him. They even brought two innocent children to him so that he wouldn’t be “lonely”.
They already know what’s to come, but they still show up to Anchordeep to send enemies the Lamb’s way just to buy Kallamar more time to live.
They always appear by their siblings’ sides when they confront the Lamb, save for Kallamar. They still are there though, just in the background.
x
Back to Kallamar. This squid could’ve hopped into the ocean and left. She chose not to, even though she was terrified. She doesn’t attempt to fortify the door to her temple. She flat out tells the Lamb where she’ll be. She has her weapons already on her by the time they arrive.
I just feel like if you don’t give a fuck, you wouldn’t do all that. Why is it just assumed that she is selfish and didn’t love her siblings? Because she was terrified and saying anything to avoid being sent to Narinder?
Would you want to be sent to your abusive relative who despises you?
Would you not feel a bit angry that your eldest sibling would choose to keep this absolute lunatic alive, even against common sense and the safety of yourself and your younger siblings.
Would you feel a sense of blind loyalty to someone who values your ABUSER over you?
Kallamar was afraid of Narinder before he ripped her ears off. Why is that? You aren’t just terrified of somebody for no reason.
The Lamb kills her younger siblings.
Kallamar knows she will be sent straight to him, condemned to eternal suffering.
Like what are we expecting from her? “Ah yeah, this is fine. I’m fine. I’m not upset at all that my enabler of a sibling chose an abuser over me, refused to put him down after he revealed himself to be unhinged, and forced me and the others into a wild goose chase concerning sheep. I’m not at all bothered that my baby siblings have been slaughtered and that I’m next. Me personally? I’m chilling!”
🙄 Y’all always on this “Narinder redemption”, WHAT ABOUT KALLAMAR? Why isn’t she allowed grace? The Bishops aren’t good creatures, but neither is their brother. We should acknowledge that and acknowledge the nuance.
This post was brought to you by my homoerotic devotion for Kallamar and my long history of living in an abusive, dysfunctional household.

Could I please see any ideas you might have on what an embrace from each Bishop would feel like?
Pairings: Leshy/Reader, Heket/Reader, Kallamar/Reader, Shamura/Reader, Narinder/Reader, Lambert/Reader. ( All separate, can be seen as platonic or romantic. )
Details: Some headcanons on what a hug from each bishop + lambert feels like.

Leshy
🍃- Bush boy has very cold claws and a very warm body, but in a way that comfortably balances his temperature so that its neither too hot nor too cold, very pleasant to hug. His body's moss adds a bit of texture, and if you pull his chest close enough, he's a bit wet. He can't stay still for too long and gets distracted very easily, so he won't be able to hug for long.
🍃- I'd say he's a 7.4/10 hugger. Would've been a 10/10 if it weren't for a bit of moist leaves and for the fact that he can't stay still for too long.
Heket
🍄 - Heket is interesting. She's very cold and it takes her a while to warm up. But when she is warm, its a very nice and satisfactory hug! She engulfs you fully and it makes for a very good feeling! When anybody catches Heket hugging you, they don't. Mainly because you are technically one with the robes.
🍄 - 9/10 hugger!!!
Kallamar
🦋- HELP
🦋 - He's a very awkward hugger, takes him a bit for him to give into the idea of physical affection. What if he dose it wrong? What if it's not good? What if you're disappointed?! Very nervous about it. But when he does hug you, it's actually very nice! He's very jittery and shudders a little while hugging you, but he's working on it.
🦋 - 8.5/10
Shamura
🔮 - A distinguished gentleman. They act very professional when hugging somebody and seem very experienced and cautious as to not make the experience uncomfortable for you. Shamura feels a bit cold in some areas, but warm in others. It all blends together when hugging somebody and it makes for perfect body temperature and their claws wrap around you with care.
🔮 - 10/10 hugger. I take no negative feedback.
Narinder
💌 - Very soft and caring hugger! An embrace from Narinder feels warm and comfortable. His fur adds to the comfortability and makes for a very soft pillow/blanket. He also purrs when hugging somebody when he's relaxed enough and it's very soothing and puts you to sleep instantly.
💌 - 11/10 hugger.
Lambert
🗡 - Turns out, wool is extremely soft and cuddly and a gift from the heavens. Feels very nice and soft to the touch, if you squish the wool, it does a little bounce before returning to normal and it's addicting to just squeeze their wool.
🗡 - 9/10 hugger.

Nice and simple, nothing too terribly fancy
Anyway reincarnation au Lamb. It's been 2000 years since they defeated TOWW and became god of death, sheep have migrated from other continents so are rare but not unheard of (most people will have never met one and ya know, ya don't just assume any sheep you meet is the Lamb...) and society has popped off. Their territory extends across the entire Old Faith lands, with cities and villages/towns throughout the neutral grounds they started on, Darkwood, Anura, Anchordeep and Silk Cradle (a more modern-ish society now, but they don't have things like phones or televisions and they're still a heavily religious/cultish society). Notably, Sleeping Hollow/Narinder's old territory is not included in this and is in fact off limits to the Lamb's followers (does Lamb have unresolved issues from their time serving Narinder? maybe).
They like having a "casual" form that most people won't look twice at, with the crown disguised as a pet so no one sees a sheep with a crown and goes "oh, it's god!" Sometimes they just want to go shopping and interact with people without having the other person kneeling at their feet, ya know? Only they're pretty bad at pretending to be a regular follower and anyone who has actually met "the Blessed Lamb" or owns more than a handful of brain cells recognizes them immediately. Narinder is neither, bless his heart. (Shamura puts it together immediately, but then forgets to say anything...)
There are still heretics out there, and in the wilds of the realms outside of city and town limits there are pocket societies still clinging to the old ways, but there's so few of them that they're essentially not a threat to the Lamb. This will come back to bite them (and the Bishops) in the ass when these heretics start realizing their gods are back (albeit Different™ and in need of Changing™) <3
I really wanted to give the Lamb wings, so they get wings. Thank you-
#cult of the lamb#justa arts#the lamb cotl#cotl au#Reincarnation AU#the crown is a bird. get it. CROWn......... I'll see myself out#I actually adore bird!crown I want to hold it in my palm#the Blessed Lamb is a partial transformation into their full god form#they don't (often) fully transform because it would be TERRIFYING to the average follower#also fun fact the 'casual' Lamb's bell is the original bell they got from Narinder#Once again it is 2:30 am I need to go to sleep

Because you said you love rambeling about lore and you are looking for excuses to talk about it redeem this cupon for one free lore ramble, any topic
OH YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT U JUST DONE
SIT BACK AND RELAX CUZ THE GOATS UNIVERSE HAS BEEN IN MY MIND THE WHOLE WEEK + SOME HEKET RAMBLING Cuz I got her a partner idea hehehe <3
LONG RAMBLING UNDER THE CUT!!! (btw bless chu I appreciate u <3 )
ABOUT CULT OF THE GOAT AU:
About the Purple Crown: Ive been seeing a lot of interpretations of Goat's Crown going around and honestly Id like to put in my cents: I dont think the Crown being purple changes who the owner was, because the eye shape is still the same as Lamb's Which brings me to think that, just like how in COTL everything seems to be colored after warmer/reddish colors, everything in Goat's universe must be following cooler/purpleish palettes What does that mean to me? That ALL the other Crowns are of different colors as well, maybe a colder one compared to their original ones
Im still thinking about what each of them would be here but so far I like to think that Yellow -> Ocean green?? Green -> Blue Blue -> dark pink? Purple -> Cyan/White
I think the Crown shapes would still be the same + what each Bishop's domain would be as well
About Aym and Baal: They were never offered to Narinder. Shamura didnt have that compassion. They were so mad at their brother that they couldnt bring themselves to consider his feelings for being banished. Neither did any of the other siblings, for they wouldve been too busy fighting off Old Gods and hunting for empowerment
So where are Aym and Baal? Theyre alive! With Forneus! And both of them are lil jerks as much as their mother Taught to steal, lie and fight, all in order to survive no matter what. The twins have already expressed wanting to go out and explore the world, but Forneus refuses to let her kids go, much for her own selfish reasons of them being the only things that make her happy in this fcked up world AND because, of course, she loves them. She knows how cruel the world has turned into, she does not want to lose them Aym and Baal never met Narinder, and Narinder never met them Maybe eventually, while Goat is out in a crusade, they shall cross paths........as enemies
About the Purgatory: This is still smtng I am speculating about, but what I have so far: instead of it being MS to tell the Goat to free the Bishops from their deserved-suffering, itd be them asking the deity if such thing was possible, because Narinder wouldve been feeling bad about it He believes that his siblings could change over time, especially now that the Crowns were relinquished by the Goats power, and so they are allowed to have that chance This would unlock many scenarios of the Bishops actively trying to take over the cult, run away or kill the Goat + their followers. It is smtng Ill let cook for a while more
IF ANYTHING Id just- leave them dead lol they wouldnt be redeemable in this world (BUT BECAUSE I LOVE MY SKRUNKLIES EQUALLY ILL TRY TO MAKE IT WORK-)
ABOUT HEKET: Ehehehe I accidentally started shipping her with my follower OC Astrid so we'll see how it goes
Astrid is someone who keeps to herself for the sake of others; she is not used to opening up and oftentimes believes her pain is not worth of complains compared to others she is caring for However, she is very much talkative, maybe as a way to make her forget her problems Whilst Heket she- well. She cant. Talk much it hurts like hell UASHDNJASMDK
SO WE HAVE A TALKATIVE BUBBLY GF WITh her mostly quiet butch wife that shes constantly having to change the bandages of <3
I have a dialogue set up for them which I shall get to drawing a comic for as soon as I am done with thIS CURRENT COMIC-
ANYWAYS thats the ramblings for now, HOPE YALL LIKE THE IDEAS bless u again for givng me a free pass made me rlly happy MWEHE,,!! 💜💜💜

Punishment.
Cult of the Lamb Ficlet because I lost control of my life again
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=⁂=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Lamb and their right hand cat, Narinder, walk about the cult grounds discussing plans for new buildings.
Kallamar and Saleos walk by, the former passively rambling outloud about schemes he will never actually go through with to the latter who just nods along, with the same reverence and eagerness a dog might have toward its owner. Kallamar seems to look at Saleos the same way one might be looked at by their housecat. As little good as they're surely up to, neither god of death pays them any mind, as they have proved to be more harmless together than apart.
Lamb chats to Narinder while sketching vague blueprints, “I saw you at your siblings’ house earlier, Nari’.”
Narinder grunts, “... And?”
“Don’t tell me The One Who Waited has forgiven them already?” Lamb teases.
“Of course not! None of my siblings have my forgiveness, nor will they ever. But, that spider is hardly the same person who betrayed me, not anymore. No point punishing the innocent. No point in letting what little remains of their talents go to waste.”
Narinder chooses his words carefully, the Lamb has probably already gleaned from his thoughts that he went to see Shamura, but maybe he could hide his intent behind ambiguity. This is just another facet of the countless indignities and adjustments he has had to go through after losing his Crown.
“Pragmatic!” Lamb smiles, complimenting the cat. Then, why do you think of guilt, Narinder?
Leshy bursts from the ground before Lamb, startling the young god of death. The worm bares his teeth, gesturing with his seeing eye cane, “Horrendous cruel beast! Why does Heket have to tend to both the farms and the gardens!? And is the head chef? EXPLAIN YOURSELF, IMMEDIATELY!”
Narinder rolls his third eye and picks up the blueprint Lamb had been working on, checking the shrine dimensions and blood plumbing for mistakes or minor improvements. It’s a skill that is easy to learn, but takes eons of practice to master.
Lamb looks at the worm with a wide friendly smile, unsure of his angle. His chaotic thoughts do not help. “Because, Leshy… She’s an ex-fertility goddess of harvest. I know it’s a lot of work, and she said she was the god of famine, but she seems to retain some power or knowledge of the opposite, so I think she can handle-”
Leshy throws his arms up, “SO DO I! I AM THE GOD OF NATURE! LOOK AT ME! I’M LITERALLY PART PLANT! Heket’s domain is merely domestic crops. Allow me to tend to the flowers and the trees, and I will grow them better than she ever could. Those camellias will have no choice but to obey me, FOR I AM THEIR GOD.”
Lamb tilts their head inquisitively, reopening the wound hidden under their bell collar, “Huh, so that’s why you look like that. I always thought you were the god of chaos?”
“Chaos is nature! Plants are not meant to be grown in ugly rows, so called ‘weeds’ are not meant to be pulled up, my hedges not meant to be trimmed into cubes. Nature is chaotic, it’s people who inflict their order upon it.” Leshy balls his fist.
“But, weren’t you also technically the god of order?” Lamb raises a brow, discreetly checking to make sure they’re wearing the blood red fleece, today. Or at least the robes they stole from Narinder.
Leshy produces a flower from somewhere, likely thin air, and uses it as a prop, “I am! Order is nature! Have you ever considered a flower? The intricacies and mathematical perfection of their petals, that I painted? The perfectly rehearsed dance of an ecosystem in balance? Nature is ordered, it’s people who inflict their chaos upon it.”
“Uh…” Lamb smiles, incredulously.
“What? That made perfect sense, right Narinder? The vile lamb must also be stupid.” Leshy says, rolling his non-existent eyes and throwing an arm around Narinder’s shoulder.
Narinder shrugs him off, not seeming to give a shit.
Lamb says, “Thank you for your concern, Leshy, but I think our current camellia output is sufficient. We really can’t spare another lumberjack, especially one as talented as you.~”
The green worm glowers at the Lamb, bearing his teeth. He turns and storms off.
Narinder watches his brother walk off. He turns to the Lamb, “Why did you put Heket in charge of sustenance? She is not above poisoning, or worse, you are aware of that.”
Lamb giggles, dropping the façade and rubbing their neck, “Because working with food torments her, now she can’t eat anything. Not if it’s still solid. She’s still much too proud to do a bad job, though. And I’m not worried about her poisons, anymore.”
Narinder says, “Oh. She always was a glutton, I suppose.”
“You think I’m being cruel, Nari’?” Lamb says coquettishly, licking their own blood and ichor from their clawed fingers.
Narinder’s three eyes narrow at the Lamb, “Cease your reading of my mind. And, yes, of course I do. However, I did not say it was a bad thing. She deserves it. I imagine that is also why you have Leshy cutting trees down, instead of growing them? Scary, how much of my vindictiveness has rubbed off on you, once so innocent... and, come to think, this is also probably why I was made your ‘disciple’, wasn't it?”
The Lamb gives him a sharp smile, “Ehehehe! Now, I’m starting to wonder if you can read my mind. A fitting punishment, yea? Always by my side. So close to the object of your desire, yet forever powerless to take it…”
Narinder’s face turns red and he gets a nosebleed. “I HATE YOU, Lamb! You are horrible and evil and vile, I’m leaving now.”
The three-eyed cat runs back into his hut.
Lamb mumbles to themself, obliviously, “Huh? He’s still thinking I’m cruel. He must really want the Red Crown back, I better keep teasing him with it!”
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=⁂=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
As Leshy retreats to a secluded part of the cult grounds with a bottle of ‘very good’ wine he stole, to brood over the Lamb’s refusal, he groans to realize that he’s unfortunate enough for Kallamar to have already been there doing the same thing.
Kallamar smiles and waves, beckoning Leshy to sit beside him. After a few moments of Leshy not reacting, he speaks up, “Hello, Brother! Sit down, sit down! Still living with that mortal cat?”
Leshy sighs as he does so, “Yes. Still living in Heket’s basement?”
“Just because she built a floor above mine doesn’t make it the basement. It’s a ‘cellar’…” Kallamar clarifies.
“Rrrright.” Leshy brings his bottle to his lips.
“You know, it’s funny how you only act like a normal person when you’re drunk. You’re so much more genuine, this way. I much prefer it.”
Leshy spits out his wine, “W-what’s that supposed to mean?! I’M ALWAYS NORMAL!!! … So, anyways, how’s Shamura doing? If you ever need help taking care of-”
Kallamar cuts him off, “Oh, could you? That'd be great. Saleos hardly ever has time to help. Shamura's condition is… well they haven’t been getting any less lucid. They can take care of most things themself, these days. That’s actually what I was about to mention. Narinder came by the house today. Was asking to visit them.”
Leshy’s hand tightens around the bottle’s neck, “What? You didn’t let him, did you?”
“Of course not. Heket would’ve had my head if I did.”
“Huh… Why?”
“No idea, I can never read the guy. Maybe he feels bad? He used to be very close to Shamura, can’t imagine he wanted any of this to happen.”
“Maybe… But why now? We’ve been living here for close to a decade-”
“Decades, actually. This year it's 28, for me. You've been here a lot longer.” The squid corrects.
Leshy sighs, “... ‘Decadessssss’. You know what I mean. Maybe that horrid little Lamb put him up to it. Seems to enjoy torturing us like that.”
Kallamar shrugs, “Shamura’s been asking about Narinder ever since.”
Leshy raises his tone, “Shamura doesn’t know any better. They don’t even understand what happened to them, half the time. Even when they still had the Purple Crown, they kept giving him ‘gifts’. As if nothing had changed.”
Kallamar swirls the red liquid around in his bottle, “I don’t know. You really don’t think it isn’t time to extend the olive branch? He’s in the same boat as us, now. To be honest, I don’t even blame Narinder. He did what any of us would have done in that situation.”
“That’s… surprising to hear from you, Kallamar.”
“I just wish I didn’t have to get caught up in the crossfire. And, isolating Narinder has only been driving him closer to the Lamb, somehow. They are our real enemy.”
Leshy rolls his nonexistent eyes, “Ah, there it is… I mean, I don’t disagree. I empathize with him. And I miss having him as a brother, before all of this. But, I don’t know if I could ever forgive him, not after all he’s taken from me. My existence is hell, because of him.”
“Isn’t that more because of the Lamb, Brother?”
“What? No. Don’t get me wrong, I despise the Lamb. But, it was Narinder who gouged out my eyes, who sicced that vile beast on me.”
“... so?” Kallamar raises a brow.
“W-what do you mean ‘so’? Look at me! What he did to me.” Leshy gestures to his bandaged face.
“He did the same to all of us, you don’t see me asking for pity.” Kallamar takes a drink.
Leshy laughs in Kallamar’s face.
“PFFHAhAHAHahah! NO! No-no, no, no. No. We are not the same. I will admit, Shamura received a far worse fate than I, though my own suffering outweighs that of everyone besides. Then, after mine, was Heket’s. Then Narinder’s. And only then, last of all, is you. He Who Waited merely tore off part of the outside fins of your ears, you are not even deaf, not completely… And, I don’t despise you for losing nothing, Brother, I detest you because you got off so easy because you were a coward then, and you won’t even admit it because you are a coward now.”
Kallamar shakes his head, “Lost ‘nothing’? I lost my crown, my cult!”
“That’s not what I’m talking about, but yes. You did, though I’m sure you cried and bitched the whole time instead of fighting like a man. But, it’s not like you were depending on yours just to hear. Or to speak. Or see.” The worm growls.
“You weren’t exactly blind until becoming a mortal. Didn’t you say you could see with the Green Crown’s eye?”
“That… that wasn’t the same! Didn’t you ever try looking through yours!? The Crowns see only truth, that isn’t the same as seeing. Beauty. Is. Not. True. Natural beauty was once all I cared about bringing into the world, it was what gave my existence meaning, what brought me happiness… For centuries, I haven’t been able to remember what flowers look like. I know their fragrance, their feel, their shape, but their color? I am told camellias are red, red like blood. What is ‘red’, Kallamar? The Green Crown did not give me the emotion of red, not the association of blood and passion, not the striking vibrancy, it merely informed me of the wavelength of photons bouncing off chemical bonds in their pigments and the chemistry and evolution of those biomolecules, and I don’t even have that anymore. ‘Dappled sunlight trickling down from the canopy of Darkwood onto a glittering stream between mossy rocks’, these are only words to me. I can no longer imagine it, as I can’t think in images anymore, only in words and concepts… Every time that I feel cool breeze through my leaflets carrying the perfume of camellias, all I can think of is that I will spend eternity never again knowing their beauty. W-whenever my cat gives me one, I…” Leshy’s lip quivers, he shakes his head.
His head drops into his hands, the worm mumbles, “What’s even the point of living anymore? I want… I deserve death. But this vile, horrid, cruel beast won’t even let me die. They know how I feel, their Crown must show them, they know how torturous this existence is for me! And still they stand there, mocking me, with that horrible sadistic smile. Acting like nothing is wrong.”
Kallamar stares at Leshy, his stitched brow furrowing. “How dare you, Brother? How dare you think that you have the right to hate me, when I already hate myself? H-how dare you think so little of yourself as to deserve pity from someone as worthless as me, when you’re still you? Do you have any idea how much I envy you right now, Leshy? Long before all this, even when you were but a wyrmling barely in control of your Crown, I still envied you. Because, you’re right. I am a coward, and a fucking idiot, not even the Blue Crown could fix that about me, because I’m also so fucking stubborn. I never deserved godhood. But it came so naturally to you, you’re so damn confident, and brave, and fucking cool looking! Everyone loved you for it! Your followers were inspired by you, drawn to you! My cult never even respected me, only feared me… Except for Saleos, he’s somehow worse… I should’ve been proud of you, as your elder bloodbrother, but as worthless and horrid as I am, I felt only jealousy… and loathed myself for it… If you think your greatness was taken from you, I never had any to begin with. If you’d even care.”
Leshy stands up, mouth downturned, the moss on his cheeks caked with wet ichor.
He punches Kallamar in the face.
The squid clutches the burst stitches across his face, “OW! What the hell, Leshy?”
Leshy sneers, “Ooh, you think you deserve pity for knowing you’re pathetic? Don’t you try to out-do my pain! Don’t you think you’re the only one that hates himself. If even you couldn’t tolerate your bullshit, why didn’t you just fucking man up and die!?”
Kallamar reaches for his bottle. Leshy hits him again. The squid falls back, over the log, and flat onto the ground.
The worm screams, “You think what the Green Crown did to me ‘looks cool?’, I’m a tree! You can pass as a normal squid. I have to tell people I’m an abomination, because I am. I’m a monster that devoured souls and families, and enjoyed it. And you think that was a good thing? You think they loved me for it? I didn’t even know what love was! Did you really think that I would feel better if I knew you only hate yourself because you weren’t consumed by your Crown, like me? Because you were still a person underneath it?! Do you understand how lucky someone like you is to have Saleos? How little you deserve his forgiveness, his love? After everything he sacrificed to you, willingly? And every day, you spit in his face!”
Kallamar curls up into a ball as Leshy kicks him repeatedly, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to, p-please…”
Leshy stops, tears dampening his bandages. “Now… Saleos is going to tend to your wounds, you’ll talk his ears off about this, and he’ll still be on your side… and I’ll go home, and my cat will tell me all about how much he loves that benevolent Lamb for saving him from Darkwood. Fr-... from the s-sacrificial altar... For vanquishing that evil god of chaos…”
Kallamar looks between bloody, shaking fingers, “H-he… still doesn’t know?”
Leshy sits down, wiping ichor from his hands, sniffling. “No. Of course not… I’m a worthless coward.”
The Lamb watches them from the temple window, with a horrible sadistic smile.

Crowns - Symbiotic or Parasitic? Thoughts
So like, I think It's pretty much established that its at least partially the crowns who create gods.
It takes worship and favor, we have the lore tablets telling how someone created the first gods and people like clauneck and his siblings. The owl has a crown, since they too are a god. Crowns and gods go hand in hand, forever.
But crowns can also make gods it seems. The Bishops all weren't godly to begin with, they found their crowns or the crowns found them. They might not have even been properly sentient before finding the crown, depending on how the game treats followers and their anthro forms in comparison to the more animalistic enemies, like the spiders in Silk Cradle.
It is possible the original god who made the gods and clauneck made the crowns as well? Either enough for each person created, or like, crowns to give to people who proofed themselves through worship and gaining one of their own?
Possibilities, possibilities. But in the end, one cannot go without the other.
So? Are the crowns good or bad for their godly hosts? Why are they like this? Because the red crown tells us they can speak, and they can push their hosts into a direction of sin specifically.
We can also see crowns digging down into a host god/godly being.
Chemach's Crown digs into her head, and is heavily implied to be a partial cause for her behaviors and obsession with the gods
Most notably because she isnt supposed to have a crown to begin with! Neither she nor her brothers are out right gods, more like, demigods with a purpose. And Clauneck nor Kudaai wear anything resembling a crown, if we dont assume Clauneck hiding one in his tent of a body
Yet in direct contrast we have Shamura and their crown, visibly showing it also dig into their brain.
Now we have two options as to why.
Either The crowns digging into their god host is just part of their nature. However, I dont personally feel like its that likely. Aside from a crown like the red crown being able to move freely and become various things, other crowns on damaged bodies dont even show hints of their tendrils like these two crowns do. See the more damaged forms of Leshy and Kallamar for example were both have flesh showing but the crowns dont appear any more dug in than usual, in Kallamar's case even only partially sitting on top. Seeing how visible Chemachs tendrils are even without any damage to her physically, I do think wed see at least a hint more.
So option 2 is that the crown is digging into Shamura to help keep their brain alive and functioning, similar to how the other bishops had their godly powers help them stay on top of their conditions (See Heket and her speaking) and how they are affected once turned into powerless mortal followers.
This does imply the crowns actively trying to keep their host alive, which does make sense. Without a god, it doesn't seem like the crowns can do much on their own. The bishop's crowns sit on pedestals in the cult and are in a vague maybe dead maybe dormant kind of implied state.
I don't think a crown could actively take over a god though through this. If the host dies, then the crown is out of anyone to let it actually do stuff with, and breaking and taking over a mind is not an easy process if we look at Chemach, since I don't think being chained and hanging up in a self-made temple of sorts is what that crown was going for while digging into her brain. Meanwhile, Shamura's, and through implication, the crowns of the other bishops, try to keep their gods as functioning as possible.
Its a win win if all goes well, you get worshiped as a god, gain power, the crown gains more power (possibly allowing for speech and movement to begin with), and if its of any further importance, the path towards sin, seeing how the red crown can actively shapeshift into a snake like form exactly mimicking the absorbed sin looks like.
So maybe "Sin" itself is what the crowns are made from and they set up a loop that keeps them to continuously receiving it? Or maybe its more of a primordial built in goal of theirs to be a service to the gods by their original creator.
How and what exactly crowns are is an entire mystery of itself for me, but a delightful one! And I do personally not see them as a potential threat to a god itself, unless the crowns have expansive personalities who could choose to just really dislike a fella they're stuck with.
I still have lore areas to explore in the game and pieces to find so who knows, maybe I'm just missing something in game which clears everything up, but until then, ill be happy with what I have.
I do hope we get more about them though. The clear distinction yet hand in hand motives of crowns and gods is just too fascinating.

Cotl Auuuuu
It’s modern time babeyyyy
* This au does take place in modern day but it technically “starts” in the late 90s bc it’s a Narinder and Lamb were childhood best friends au :))
* I honestly have the most ideas for when they’re in high school but I’ll get to that in a bit (also should say this was inspired by that one prom post from redcrowncafe where Lamb talks about their prom date who was an asshole and wishes they knew Narinder then so they could’ve gone with each other. Saw that and thought “okay but what if they did” and that spiraled out of control)
* I’ve yet to say that my personal headcanon for Lamb’s family is that they had two moms, and three younger siblings (a sister about 12 years younger, and 18 years younger twins; one male one amab gender-fluid). The twins don’t show up till Lamb is, well, 18 tho so they won’t come up much yet
* The Bishops (Bishop is just their last name here) are all foster siblings who have shitty foster parents. Shamura stays even a bit into their early 20s because of this since they don’t want to leave their younger siblings alone with those two. The foster parents’ were abusive in multiple ways, and they also kept any money the Bishop’s respective parents might’ve left for their offspring to themselves (spoiler: Shamura’s in particular were LOADED and so when the Bishops are finally away from these two they’re pretty much set for life). It’s after a particularly scary night where a two year old Leshy and a six year old Heket are threatened while Shamura and the parents are arguing that something in Shamura snaps and they begin to plan to murder their foster parents. Yay!
* I don’t have the details but they in fact /do/ kill them. Thing is they’re super smart about it and hardly any evidence can be traced back to them. It is a small town though so there aren’t too many suspects and overall the one who would have the motive and probable method would be Shamura (unless they wanna try and pin it of 13 year old Kallamar or 8 year old Narinder). Thing is, their foster parents? No one liked them. So no one’s gonna point fingers. The police try and press people to give a suspect but no one does. So the case goes cold. But, even though no one liked the two, murder is still frowned upon by most so the siblings move away.
* But BEFORE all that let me explain a bit about Nari and Lamb’s friendship: they met in kindergarten (idk why they’re in the same grade when I hc Lamb to be a year older but shhh) and while Narinder tried to act “cool” and “aloof” Lamb was having none of it and dragged him along on little kid adventures like playing in the mud and pretending to be power rangers. Also almost from the get go Nari had a little crush on Lamb lol. Since Nari and his sibs move away when he’s 8, these two knew each other for 3 years. Idk what all happens in that time. Like I said most of what I’ve thought up for this au (mainly about Narilamb) happens in their high school years. It is thanks to their play dates at each others houses that Lamb figures out that being nonbinary is a thing from Shamura and is like “Wait… Me too???”
* After the move, Nari and Lamb stay connected through letters and phone calls. They also send pictures of all kinds of things, mainly of themselves so the other “won’t forget what I look like!” Neither make many lasting friends, at least, not ones around the same age as them (Lamb befriends Ratau and his buddies. Narinder befriends kind library assistant Forneus and her two twin sons).
* Lamb is loud and proud about who they are, which unfortunately makes them targeted for bullying, though it’s not just for their gender, it’s also because of their - Idk a better word than quirky Sorry - personality and the rumors about their long distance best friend; there’s multiple rumors, like that he doesn’t exist (this comes from those who don’t know much about the whole Bishop family scandal) or that he’s a murderer, just like his older sibling (this comes from those that /do/ know, ofc)
* Btw over the course of these years they’ve been apart Nari’s crush has only grown and Lamb has also gained a crush on Nari themself
* OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY TIME FOR THE BIT I HAVE THE MOST OF AN IDEA FOR GET READY (it’s super cheesy and corny and honestly feels like a Disney channel original movie but this fandom could use a little more of that imo so let me live)
* So, I know some schools would let Juniors have their own prom. Let’s say Lamb’s school does that. They had been asked by some guy to be his prom date and figured “why not?” and accepted. Thing is the guy asked if they could buy his ticket, and being the nice person (yet to decide if this is also a human au or if they’re still all animals) they are they do so. The guy then just takes the ticket and tells them to get lost. Lamb didn’t like the guy but it still hurt to have their kindness taken advantage of. They tell Narinder all about it and admit they probably won’t even go to the prom, even though they already bought a ticket and outfit. Nari, who Lamb can’t see bc it’s just a phone call, is absolutely SEETHING.
* Now Narinder has a mission: Get a tux, flowers, and other gifts. Convince Shamura to let him go in his truck (yeah he drives a truck in this au, idk it’s just the car I imagined when I thought it up lol) and be away from home for a few of days (it would take about a day to drive there, then he’d want to stay for at least one or two, then another to drive back). Shamura is reluctant (that town holds a lot of bad memories and him being so far away when he’s only 16 is scary), but seeing the determination in his eyes makes them relent.
* He calls Lamb’s moms and lets them know his plan, but wants it to be a surprise. They both agree to convince them to go to prom even if they will be going alone, without letting it slip that they will have a prom date after all.
* Prom night comes around, and Lamb, who is dressed in a tux-dress combo, is confused as to why their moms, who were so insistent that they go, aren’t ready to take them? (Projecting my reluctance to learn to drive onto them here, so that’s why they can’t drive themself). Then the doorbell rings. They answer and see Narinder (who is now like a foot taller wow couldn’t tell that in the photos he sent) in a tuxedo holding a bouquet and corsage. He’s got a nervous smile on his face as he says “I know it’s a little last minute, but will you allow me to accompany you to prom?”
* Almost a full minute passes in silence, making Nari sweat and begin to regret doing all of this. Then he gets jumped by Lamb into a hug that topples them both to the ground as they scream “YES!!!”. Thankfully they aren’t hurt and their formal wear is alright, though they wouldn’t notice otherwise, their focuses only on each other’s laughter and presence.
* When he opens the passenger door for them there’s a basket of treats, jewelry and a black cat plushie. “Ohh, Narinderrrr! You’re making me feel like I’m royalty!” “You are, to me.” *pause as they look at each other in flustered silence* “A-ANYWAYS WERE SHOULD GET GOING RIGHT?” “OH YEAH YOURE RIGHT. Uh, help me up?” He helps them climb into their seat, close the door, and silently screams about how dumb that was (while Lamb is inside internally screams about how sweet that was and oh no they think they’re falling for him)
* They get there (Yeah I realized Nari doesn’t have a ticket but let’s say somehow there was enough for him to buy one at the entrance) and they’re having a good time (only barely noticing the looks they’re getting and the whispers of “Isn’t that one of the Bishop siblings? Figures Lamb would have to settle for a murderer to be their date.”), dancing, eating and drinking the possibly spiked punch. I’m sorry to say some hurt is about to happen
* They have a run in with the guy who tricked Lamb and Nari almost breaks the guys nose before Lamb pulls him away saying it’s not worth it. He’s about to disagree and say something embarrassing again like “maybe /he’s/ not worth it but /you/ are and he hurt you so he deserves to be punched” when a girl “accidentally” spills her whole cup of punch onto Lamb’s outfit. Everyone around them laughs and Lamb, barely blinking back tears, runs out of the building. Narinder growls at them all and runs after Lamb.
* He finds them curled up by a tree outside, and sits down next to them. He tries to comfort them but they sob out “Just take me back home.” He agrees to do so, but tells them to go wash up a bit in the bathroom while he gets something. As they’re washing up he knocks on the door and asks to come in. They let him and see he’s holding a box. He tells them he planned on giving it to them later after Prom for something else he had planned but figured they’d just go now since Lamb didn’t want to stay anymore. He hands it to them and says he’ll be waiting outside.
* Surprise! It’s another outfit :)) It’s a bit more cozy than what they were wearing before, but still fit for “royalty”. And a black crown with a big red jewel inlaid in the middle-front
* They get dressed and marvel in the mirror before going back out. Narinder’s heart skips a beat when he sees them.
* Idk what to put in between so let’s skip ahead to when they’ve arrived at a spot out in the open wilderness where it’s easier to star gaze. He sets up the trunk bed to be comfy and reveals he had a cooler and basket of food for them to have a night picnic under the stars.
* After they’ve eaten some, one thing leads to another, and then Lamb pulls Narinder into a kiss. They both confess and spend the rest of their time cuddling (until Lamb gets a phone call from their very nervous moms because of how late it’s getting and they’re not home yet lol)
* I have more ideas but to sum them up for now: The rest of this AU is just Narilamb long distance relationship angst & fluff. Eventually the Bishops move back to the small town and then it’s not long distance narilamb (and eventual leshycat and whatever else).
* I will say this: Another murder will happen, this time it’s Lamb who commits it. That’s all I’m giving y’all ;))c

if it is said that narinder did it while he was being imprisoned, it'd be word of god from the devs or in one of the lore tablets since from what i understand i think he did the "no more evil" and then got imprisoned for doing that
I have no idea!!! At this point I'm getting conflicting information! Some sources say the bishops willfully sacrificed their respective Senses to imprison him, others say Narinder's betrayal was his maiming of them and that led to his imprisonment, and here I am swearing I heard it said that the injuries happened while he was being imprisoned
The lore tablets are not all that helpful and neither is any of the dialogue. It's all super vague. At least of the dialogue in the Wiki (which we know is not comprehensive) and from what I can remember of the tablets.
All we really get regarding the injuries in dialogue is Haro's explanation of who got what ("Hapless Leshy , youngest of the five. T'was his eyes he lost. Temperamental Heket, with her throat cut neat. Cowardly Kallamar's ears, torn from his head. And Shamura, once the brightest of the five, 'till their skull was split") and that "The One Who Waits made it so." And we know that originally the Bishops wanted to kill him but could not do that due to. Him being Death ("How does one kill death? Alas. One cannot")
But this doesn't really tell us anything. None of the bishops explain it. The closest we get is Shamura's "It was I who had him chained. Forced into subjugation by the four of us." but even that neglects to mention anything about when the injuries happened
HOWEVER, there is this ONE lore message:
(screenshot yoinked from this video)
Transcripted:
"We've been hiding for days. I'm hungry, but I'm too scared to leave this place, though the earth on longer shakes. I didn't know the Bishops could bleed. The fifth... we dare not speak his name. Soon we won't remember it. But he waits. He will always wait."
I'm assuming this is a note from right after Narinder's imprisonment, and it seems the Bishops came out of that altercation bloody to some extent. Doesn't necessarily mean their Primary Wounds came from it, but at least Wounds!
But outside of that. I don't know!
#i should really join the discord and start combing through for lore drops. due to my insanity etc.#ask#cult of the lamb#and after checking the ancient tablets yeah they don't talk about the injuries at all#they're about the old gods n such

CotL Sins of the Flesh Spoilers Below!!!
Those who haven't played for themselves, beware.
So I haven't completed the update yet, and as hard as it is to find lore tablets (probably doing something wrong) it'll likely be a while before I do. Also a few bugs preventing me from completing a couple of achievements so there's that too, but let's talk about some of the stuff they added!
So first of all, I love the new cultist animations they added. I thought it was very funny that Shamura was the first one I caught reading. It's fun seeing them all hangout and just vibe in a way that isn't solely dancing in an annoying circle around the devotion statue.
I don't have strong feelings about cultists fighting each other, but I do think it's a fun addition with lots of neat fan fic ideas. They don't have to be drunk either. I think it's hilarious that in my save all of the bishops pretty much hate each other. Kallamar and Shamura are enemies (story idea maybe) and Leshy is enemies with every sibling except Narinder. Poor bush didn't get the memo.
Neither of these photos really show anything special about the update (besides "oh hey, they can get drunk now") I just wanted to share my silly squid husband being adorable making cocktails and sipping fruity little drinks. He's so damn cute istg. Didn't picture Leshy as a wino but it makes sense when I think about it. Can't really see it in the second pick but I love Shamura just chugging pints in the background.
So the sin stuff! This is the drum circle pictured above, but it's far from the only addition they made. As mentioned previously, cultists can drink now. There's also the mating tent which we all saw coming as well as several crown doctrines relating in a similar fashion. I don't hate it? Also don't love it? It's fun having a new mechanic, but it also feels like it distracts from the original gameplay and is just another resource to acquire and manage. It does make the cult stuff more fun and engaging, and the fact they made harvesting devotion from cultists easier helps, but going through dungeons no longer has as much intrigue and is more frustrating trying to balance.
Speaking of mating tent, can I just say that the new followers are absolutely adorable? They're so pretty and they start with a way higher level than just finding them in dungeons. I do still have very mixed feelings about children in a literal death cult, but the cuteness almost makes it worth it. Just... maybe don't breed the bishops. Iykyk
Ok, last thing I'm gonna talk about! This has literally nothing to do with the game itself. But personally?
I ship it
