nehir wasn't usually one to sneak behind their friends' backs, but she knew the exact reaction she would get if she told her best friend that she was spending some one-on-one time with their brother. it wasn't an ideal situation to be hiding in the first place, but after the two matched on tinder, there was simply no going back. after her friend had fallen asleep in their room, nehir quietly snuck her way over to their brother's room after getting a text from him, slowly opening the door before peaking in. "can i come in?" she whispered with a soft smile. / @gccdwitch

brooks' reassurance even was comforting in itself, even though nehir was supposed to be mad at him. she couldn't be for long, especially because she knew how much he was going through it. she nuzzled a bit more into his shoulder to thank him for his reassuring words, wanting him to know that he could talk to her about anything; there would never be judgment from nehir. she sighed softly once more at his concerns, nodding her head as she looked back up at him. "you're not the worst brother in the world, trust me-- the worst brother in the world wouldn't care as much as you do; it's clear you love sutton." she frowned slightly at the hole that could be left in her heart without sutton in her life anymore. she didn't like to think about it for long, but it was something she needed to reflect on with brooks. "no, but-- it was both of our decisions. if things end, it's my fault too. i just have to come to peace with that."

“You could never inconvenience me,” Brooks blurts out, immediate and earnest. Even if she doesn’t need the reassurance now and that’s not really the point of what she’s saying, he wants her to know as much; that even if he believes that he would inconvenience her, the same would never apply in reverse. Spilling his guts out like this is not easy and knowing Nehir is actually listening to him is both relieving and scary. He squeezes her hand tight in his own, desperate for the comfort to ground him, a small, grateful smile gracing his features for a moment. It might be a small gesture and yet, it means the world to him. “We’ve never had a fight this bad and it’s just so difficult. I hate it. I feel like the worst big brother in the whole world.” Nehir is right, he knows she is but it’s difficult to believe and there’s still the persistent question of what if? that keeps gnawing at his brain and making him uneasy. Brooks sighs heavily, gently driving his thumb and down the back of her hand. “But that sucks, too. Sutton love you a lot. You’re very important to her. I really hate that I could be the reason why your friendship takes a hit. That’s not fair to either of you.”
