Speedsters HC : Teeth shifting
I've thought about this recently while I was re-drawing my Wally West design, and I remembered I gave him braces at the beginning of his adulthood. If you quickly think about it and not acknowledge it, it isn't THAT of a big deal, it's just a personal character design.
I've decided to use my little nerd brain about it. Thinking about my own personal experience with orthodontics & some common knowledge about teeth. And I came with the conclusion that all the speedsters have or need retainers, braces, headgear (and other orthodontics stuff).
The simple reasons being, they use their speed at least once a day or more.
Because overnight your teeth shifts, but it's so unnoticeable until a dentist points it out (whether your teeth are crooked, your bottom or top teeth are way too forward, or your upper jaw got smaller). That's for someone that doesn't have super speed (connected to the speedforce). But for Speedsters, time can go faster for them, especially when they vibrate their molecules.
Instead of their teeth shift little by little every night, speedsters teeth shift so quickly (between 24 - 48hrs) that it's noticeable. so what? It's not gonna personally affect them for being heroes or their personal work. It does affect them, and it can even cause some gum diseases.
Any type of shifts that I mentioned (an over/underbite, crooked teeth, a smaller or larger upper jaw) can cause them issues eating, resting their facial features or more.
Now depending on how fast the speedster is, they'd have different types of oral treatment.
Example (with Speedsters who has treatments): Wally only wears traditional braces. And once his treatment comes to an end, he'll be wearing traditional retainers (wired retainers). Not that his teeth were THAT crooked, but he had concerning overbite. His teeth can shift back in less than a week if he doesn't wear his retainers (They're not permanent retainer, but he does have to wear them daily)
Barry, on the other hand, only has a permanent retainer (or bonded retainers if you will) WITH plastic retainers (you can have both). Barry's teeth are always going to be crooked, but not at a level where he needs braces.
Bart... Bart's teeth are so messed up due to not only his speed but also his accelerated aging. So he has to wear braces with forsus springs (elastics wouldn't work with him at all, just saying) BUT ALSO a palate expander (because of the rapid aging) & a headgear to sleep (yet again, rapid aging and his extreme speed but stopped wearing it for a while)
But this is my personal headcanon about the speedsters, don't take it too personal (in a negative way) if you don't actual visualize any of them with orthodontic methods. It's fine totally fine if you don't !! 👍🏾

Alright kids, let's talk about Speedforce lighting colors
Pre-Flashpoint, Speedforce lighting colors didn't hold much significance for speedsters. It was fairly simple: Red = Evil, Yellow = Good, and Blue = Unnatural drug induced speed
However, post-Flashpoint the lighting colors have become somewhat of a skill/speed indicator. Let's look at the visible light spectrum:
Light's wavelengths move at different speeds depending on the color, with infrared being the slowest and ultraviolet the fastest. Lightning on a speedster works pretty much the same way, with slower speedsters generating red lightning and faster speedsters generating violet lightning.
The color order goes like so from slowest to fastest:
Red<Orange<Yellow<Green<Blue<Purple
With white (the combination of all colors) being the fastest of all.
(Wally West, as confirmed by DC, actually has white lightning, it's just blue tinted)
However, it isn't always cut and dry. Skill level with the speedforce is also a factor. Two speedsters with the same top speed could have wildly different lightning colors if one was more skilled with the speedforce.
A great example of skill being a factor is Max Mercury:
Max possesses blue lightning due to being 'the Zen Master of Speed'. Max knows more about the speedforce than any other speedster. This means that despite his relatively average speed, he still has a very high ranking lightning color.
This can also be seen in Barry Allen who, while not increasing in speed, has increased in skill and this is shown by his lightning changing from red:
to yellow:
(fun fact: the white/blue speedster here is Barry from the future, who has clearly increased his skills as evidenced by the white/blue lightning)
The lighting is a quick way of assessing skill and speed on a page. Heck, even the different shades have meaning. Take this panel for instance:
It's easy to see that Avery's orange lightning (it was red not too long ago, good work Avery) means that she has more experience/skill/speed when compared with Wallace's red lightning. It's also clear that Wally is the fastest in the panel, but what about the two with yellow lightning?
How do Barry and August stack up? Well look closer at the yellow. It's two different shades. Barry's is a more gold color, while August's is neon with a tinge of green. This would make August faster than Barry, which is completely accurate and true.
(the hue difference is easier to spot in this panel)
Another note to mention is the Negative Speedforce. It actually works in reverse, with red being the fastest and violet the slowest. This is why Thawne, with red lightning, is on par with Barry. This color difference can be seen with Meena, who has yellow lightning when connected to the Speedforce
but violet lightning when connected to the Negative Speedforce!

One After Another (Cisco Ramon x Allen! Reader)
Chapter 1
Table of Contents
Part 1; Reader and Cisco meet their son from the future. Nora and their son admit to why they can’t go back to the future.
Request; Hi yes! Can I request a story? Or two long parts? Where the reader (Barry’s twin sister) and Cisco are married and reader is actually pregnant, and Nora shows up with a boy couple years older than her, and they reveal to be Barry and Iris’ daughter and the boy is reader and Cisco’s son, Dante? You don’t have to if you don’t want! Not forcing!
Tag list; None currently.
. . .
“Are you sure you dont want to know the gender?”
“I’m positive, Ralph,” You nod your head slowly, once, hands at your stomach and holding up your glass cup of (Favorite/Drink), “I mean, it’s not a big deal to me. We’ve already decided on names, Dante for a boy and Nora for a girl, simple,”
“But you guys could have a huge gender reveal party!” Ralph pleas, when Barry gets up to answer the door that was knocked on twice, “You could have party poppers, or have Joe dress up in a diaper!”
“I’ll kill you,” Joe threatens, and you snort, looking over your shoulder when two figures step into the living room, both darting their eyes around the living room as to scan each member of team Flash,
“I’m sorry,” Your brother rubs the back of his neck, brows pinched together as Cisco shifts in his spot beside you, arm along the back of the couch as his free hand held his wine glass- lucky, “Who are you guys?”
“I’m Nora,” The girl hesitates, hands wringing together, “Nora West-Allen,”
Before anyone can question on her last name, the boy next to her shifts, his eyes flicking to you, “I’m Dante,” You feel your chest tighten strangely, “Dante Henry Ramon,”
You feel Cisco cough on his wine, his hand behind you covering his mouth as he looks up at the young male, his brows pinched as his eyes then flicked to yours, “What?”
“I know this sounds super weird!” Nora tosses her hands in front of her, watching as her aunt and uncle stared at each other, before looking back up to her and Dante, “But we need your help,”
“I thought we were done with time traveling,” You sigh, tiredly, Cisco cocking his head in a “seriously?” motion, so you shrugged,
“What-what can we help you with?” Barry stammers, eyes narrowing slightly in thought,
“Dante and I were able to come to the past,” Nora explains, “Which is where we helped you destroy that satellite,”
“Wait, you’re a speedster?” Cisco points to Dante, your son forcing out a nervous laugh and a nod of his head,
“Great,” You murmur, so everyone looked to you, “I lose my speed and my son gains them,”
“Uh, you actually get your speed back after you give birth, Aunt Y/N,” Nora smiles, and watches as your lips pull upwards,
“Seriously?” You punch the air, free hand on your stomach, “Yes!”
“Okay,” Cisco shakes his head, standing up, “You’re telling me that the baby inside her right now,” He points to your bump, then raises his finger to Dante, “Is you?”
“Exactly,” Dante nods, “But I’m from 25 years in the future,”
“So you’re saying,” Barry runs a hand down his face, hand resting at his chin, “You’re my-our daughter,” He gestures to Iris, “And you’re my nephew?” Dante nods,
“I was named after both dads brother and Grandpa Henry,” He explains, looking to Nora, “Nora was named after Grandma Nora,”
“I see it as a win-win,” You grin, Cisco gesturing a hand out to you in disbelief,
“How are you so calm?”
“We’ve seen weirder things than this,” You remind, grasping the edge of the couch to stand, “Get me up, I can’t stand watching you drink wine while I’m stuck with (favorite/fruit) juice,”
“Why don’t we go to STAR Labs,” Iris speaks up, watching Cisco take your hand and raise you to your feet, allowing you to fully get a look at Dante, “We can figure all this out there, let you guys explain,”
. . .
“This is...”
“Weird,” Cisco finishes Barry’s sentence, looking to his brother in law who nods, both watching the two speedsters race around the speed lab, a mix of purple and yellow lightning blending with (favorite/color),
“Man I really miss my powers,” Your lips purse in a pout, hands curled under your stomach as your eyes easily kept up with the two speedsters,
“Can you really believe that’s our son up there?” Cisco murmurs, your eyes flicking to him, smiling at the grin on his face, “No matter how weird this is, it’s cool as hell,”
“I just can’t believe that we have a son,” You glance up to the running speedsters, “I was pretty sure Baby Ramon would be a girl,”
“Okay, we both know I was routing for a boy,” Cisco reminds, and you laugh, head tilting back with a grin.
“We need to be responsible with this,” Barry speaks up, your smile faltering as you look to him, “We need to find a way to send Dante and Nora back, and fast,”
“Yeah, I kind of agree,” Cisco purses his lips, “Even though this did ruin the “find out the gender at birth” scheme we were going for,”
Two figures speed to a stop behind you, your body turning to look to Nora and Dante both grinning at each other, them then looking to their parents in front of them,
“Okay guys,” Caitlin steps up, ordering the two to give her a hand, where she pierces their finger with a needle, “This is gonna link us up with your biometrics,”
“And these scrunchy things,” Cisco nods, moving in front of Dante to clasp the device around his wrist, “Is gonna analyze your connect with the Speed Force,”
Both teenagers nod as they both in sync look at their devices, grinning at each other before sprinting back around the speed lab,
“And what does it say?” Barry asks Caitlin, who types up the screen in front of her,
“A quick analysis of their DNAs show patterns that are familiar to all of you,”
“I knew it,” You nod, pursing your lips, “They’re our kids,”
“Well of course, Dante’s got my amazing hair,” Cisco twirls a lock of his hair, grinning when you shake your head.
“What about them being stuck here?” Barry continues, watching the quick interaction between his sister and best friend,
“Everything’s normal,” Cisco mutters, his own eyes on his screen as you move next to him, “They both have the speed force in their systems, they’re just... not going fast enough to open up the portal back to their timeline,”
Barry nods as his phone vibrates, glancing down with a short huff, “Damn, I was supposed to meet Singh at CCPD an hour ago,”
“Be safe,” You demand, your brother nodding before he speeds off, allowing you to look back up at the two speedsters, smiling lightly before looking back down to Cisco, his eyes looking up to meet yours before his hand presses to your bump, winking,
. . .
“I can’t believe I’m wearing the same tachyon enhancer my dad used to meet Supergirl for the first time,” Nora grins in excitement to her cousin next to her, who allowed Cisco to make adjustments to the same advice on his chest,
“I know, right?” Dante nods, gesturing to the device, “Mom had one too. But just the thought of them meeting Supergirl- cool as hell,”
“Alright,” Caitlin laughs, stepping back from Nora, “You’re both all set,”
“Did all these suits shrink?” The team looks up to Barry pulling at the bottom of his old Flash suit, your nose scrunching, “And why does it smell so bad?”
“Because it’s the one you used when you swam against King Shark, Uncle Barry,” Dante snickers, Barry nodding in realization,
“We should get going,” Barry presses his lips together as Dante and Nora frown to each other, Nora nodding in agreement, sadly,
“Then this is goodbye,” Dante says, clapping his gloved hands together as he glances to you, where you smile, softly, “It’s good to see you again, mom. I guess I’ll see you in a minute,”
“It was great meeting you,” You nod, “Even if it was six weeks too early,”
Dante laughs, glancing to Cisco, who holds up a pointed finger, “Answer this for me. Do I keep my long gorgeous locks even when I’m in my fifties?”
Dante holds up a finger to his lips, Cisco’s eyes widening in terror as he looks to his wife, where you laugh and snort against your hand, watching as Dante moved to the side of Barry Nora wasn’t at.
You wait, patiently, when the three speedsters rush off, looking over when Wally speeds up next to you, his hand at your arm, warningly, “Did they already leave?”
“Yeah, why? What’s up?” Iris asks, Wally shaking his head as he releases you,
“We have to stop them,”
Your eyes flick in alert to Cisco, flinching in alert to the explosion heard from behind the doors,
. . .
“Sorry I was too late,” Wally leans forward on his elbows, looking up to Nora on the labs bed, Dante and Barry both holding ice packs to their heads, “We got their Gideon to scan Nora and Dante’s blood samples,”
“Whatd she find?”
“Negative tachyons,” Wally sighs, your brows pinching as you glance to Cisco next to your chair,
“Negative tachyons?” Cisco questions, “So what, instead of speeding you up they slow you down?”
Wally nods, warily, Cisco frowning and huffing, “Well damn I was just joking, that’s a real thing?”
“Yeah. Ava and her team at the time bureau have encountered them before, but no one knows where they come from or how they’re generated.”
“Like Dark Matter for the space time continuum,” Barry nods,
“Exactly. They’re keeping Nora and Dante from entering the Speedforce,”
“Okay. I’ll work on this, you guys go help Ralph with the Gridlock crime scene,” Barry demands, ordering Dante and Nora to stay at the labs,
. . .
“We have to tell him,” Dante leans against Cisco’s desk as he watches Nora stare at the group photo of their family, his eyes staring down at the floor, “Uncle Barry at least deserves to know,”
“Nora,” Barry speaks up, so both Dante and Nora looked up at him, “What happens to me? In the future?”
Nora, Dante and Barry all stand in front of Gideon’s screen, the bright words, “FLASH VANISHES IN CRISIS,” shining in their faces,
“How long?” Barry orders, Nora tapping the screen so a new news article shined, saying, “25 YEARS LATER- FLASH STILL MISSING,”
Barry clenches his jaw, Dante clearing his throat, “You never come back,”
Barry glances back to look at him, then Nora, “How old were you when it happened?”
“I was born a few years before you vanished, I was at the age where I don’t have memories, but Dante, was,” Nora answers, shortly,
“Youre not stuck here, are you guys?” Barry realizes, Dante glancing down at his feet before looking up at his uncle,
. . .
“So you’re not stuck here,”
“No, we’re not,” Nora glances up to look at Iris, who sits in the seat in the corner of the West living room,
“So the reverse tachyons in your systems?”
Dante looks to Caitlin, “Were put there because of us,”
“Are you kidding?” Cisco asks, leaning on the couch beside Ralph, “Do you know how many credit card points I just blew just trying to get rid of those negative tachyons? I just bought a brand new spectral tachyeometer when I could’ve taken Y/N on our Fiji get away,”
“Why didn’t you guys tell us about this before?” Iris asks, “And why tell us when Y/Ns not here? She will be thrilled to know Dante gets to stay longer,”
“We can’t tell Y/N,” Barry instructs, Cisco looking up at him with pinched brows,
“And why not?”
Nora lifts her wrist to show the hologram of the same news letter from earlier, Cisco sitting up to read it more clearly,
“Barry never returns?” Cecile gasps, looking over to Cisco,
“Y/N doesn’t even know I disappear,” Barry explains, “And she can’t know. Not now,”
“And why not?” Cisco repeats, “You just want to throw it at her last minute as if we don’t know it’ll happen years in advance?”
“We don’t know what the news will do to her,” Barry reasons, gesturing to Dante, “She could go into early labor, complications can happen due to stress,”
“When uncle Barry does vanish later, mom falls into depression,” Dante tries, Cisco looking to him, “The realization of her losing not only Grandma Nora and Grandpa Henry, but uncle Barry disappearing, it takes a huge effect to her,”
“That’s why you came here,” Joe points to Nora, “To see your father,” Then Dante, “And your mothers brother before he vanished,”
“Well,” Iris stands up, Nora glancing up to her, “Looks like Dante and Nora will be able to train some more, after all,”
Dante and Nora look to grin at one another, Barry announcing to meet at STAR Labs in the next hour, “We’ll make an excuse as to why Dante and Nora are able to stay longer,”
. . .
“Babe? We’re home,”
You look up from the stove with pinched brows, stepping in the entrance of the kitchen so you see not only Cisco, but Dante,
“We?” You question, Dante pressing his lips together with a wave, “Were you not able to get him and Nora home?”
“Actually, yes,” Cisco nods, setting down his jacket, “But, Barry has decided to let them stay longer, train them more on their powers,”
“Will it not affect the future?” You ask, glancing up at Cisco when he moves up to you,
“Barry’s got it all under control,” Cisco nods, “Dont worry,”
“Okay,” You sigh, hands at his torso as you look to Dante, “Well. Welcome home I suppose. Why don’t you go get settled in the guest room, since, you know. Your bedroom is still a nursery,”
Your son laughs, nodding, “Yeah. Thanks mom,” You watch as he disappears down the hall, glancing up at your husband of three years,
“Mom,” You repeat, Cisco smiling as your eyes flash with warmth, “I’m never gonna get used to it,”
“Two more months,” Cisco reminds, hands slipping from your waist to your stomach, hands under your shirt, “And we get to meet baby Dante,”
You laugh, nodding, hands sliding around his neck to tangle in his hair, “I love you,”
“Mm, not as much as I do,” Your husband teases, leaning forward so his lips met yours, hand sliding to your back to pull you closer, so your stomach pressed to his,
You release a sigh against his mouth, smiling as you lean back, “C’mon, I made your favorite,”

Hey, so quick question. We talk about “the speedforce never dies” etc etc but Wally said he felt the speedforce dying in him as well. So what happened to him? Barry got his speed back but does the power of love connection rebind Wally back to the force too like??? I know he’s not in the picture but I feel for him and it’s not clear 😭
Somebody call Linda Park and send her Wally West’s way!
I think Wally’s connection with the speedforce is in tact now, because the speedforce has essentially been reborn, which means that Wally will be able to tap into the speedforce easily, I should think. Because the connection between the speedsters and speedforce was severed due to whatever happened in Crisis, but by Iris essentially ushering in the rebirth of the speedforce, I think this not only connects Barry back to his speed, but also connects Wally back to his speed. I do think, therefore, Wally has his powers back. This speedforce reborn of love is not a parallel speedforce (the ASF or the Negative Speedforce would be considered parallel speedforces or adjacent speedforces); rather, this is the speedforce, so Wally definitely should have his powers back. But I totally agree; I worry about Wally too. 😭
Plus, I’m always for spreading my WallyLinda agenda.

character name: Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson
codename: Agent 37
character age: 26
faceclaim: Cameron Cuffe
species: Human
status: Hero
occupation: Secret Agent
home earth: E19
biography
past:
Richard Grayson started his life as part of a loving family, he was the youngest member of The Flying Graysons, who toured with The Haly Circus. When the circus came to Gotham City, his family were the main attraction, which ultimately sealed their fate. Dick overheard "Boss" Tony Zucco, a well-known and feared crime lord, threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid protection money. The owner refused, and that night he watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending them hurtling to their deaths. He felt completely responsible, because he failed to warn his parents in time.
Dick was placed in Gotham's juvenile services system, on the grounds that social services was full. He got beaten up by a number of the inmates, and he was later sent to a Catholic orphanage, where it seemed he would stay until an unlikely guardian stepped forward. Bruce Wayne. Things didn't get off to the best of starts between the two, as Dick was still consumed by vengeance for his parents. One night he sneaked out of Wayne Manor to solve the crime on his own - only to run into Batman. After waking up in the Batcave, he was shocked to learn that Bruce and Batman were one and the same. Working together they proved Zucco's involvement in the crime and Bruce offered the Dick the opportunity to train as his partner. He accepted and chose the name Robin, after the nickname his mother gave him.
When Robin was 17, he was shot in the shoulder by the Joker, and this scared Batman into ending his career for good. Now completely independent Dick went to work with the Teen-Titans, leaving the Manor and moving to New York. Unsure of who he was meant to be, now he was no longer Robin, Dick turned to Superman for advice. The Man of Steel told him about a Kryptonian hero named Nightwing who protected the helpless and wanted a world ruled by justice.
As Nightwing, Dick spent the majority of his time with the Titans, Outsiders and then later, alone in Blüdhaven. He made firm friends with his Titans teammates and considered Wally West aka Kid Flash his best friend. When the speedster was lost in the battle against Abra Kadabra; Dick felt as if a part of him had gone along with Wally. He didn't fully understand the depth and meaning behind this huge sense of loss until much later. While in New York he was approached by Tim Drake and eventually helped him become the third Robin. When Batman was injured by Bane, suffering a broken back, Dick stepped up to fill in for Bruce while he recovered, developing a strong bond with Tim both as Batman and as an older brother.
With such a hectic Vigilante life, it was a wonder Dick managed to build any kind of civilian life, but somehow he did. Initially he went through Police Academy and joined Gotham PD before transferring to Blüdhaven. However, his desire for justice didn't match with the departments he was placed in, as both Gotham and Blüdhaven were rife with corruption. Dick made the decision to leave and re-skilled as an EMT, he was still helping people, just in a different way.
Batman was seemingly killed during his final confrontation with Darkseid, leaving Dick orphaned again. Bruce leaves a message for him pleading that Dick not take up the mantle of the Batman, due to his belief that Nightwing and Robin can protect the city as they are. Dick agrees with his guardian's last wish, until Jason tries to take the cowl for himself. Dick becomes Batman, with Bruce's son Damian as his Robin, until Bruce Wayne returns from the 'dead' (Tim had actually been right all along, Bruce wasn't dead, just missing).
Damian is murdered by The Heretic, which hits the family hard. Even though they didn't always see eye to eye, and he was constantly being ridiculed by the youngster, Dick is deeply grieved by the loss, being reminded forcibly of when they'd had Jason stolen from them. Bruce resurrects Damian with the chaos shard and things return to some semblance of normality for a while.
Shortly after this Nightwing is captured by the Crime Syndicate. They threaten to unmask him and hook him up to the Murder Machine which would detonate if his heart isn't stopped within a set amount of time. Batman tries to break him free, but to no avail and is forced to allow Lex Luthor to stop Nightwing's heart. Once he is revived, Bruce brings him home to the manor to recover in secret.
No sooner is Dick back to full health than he's out on another mission, this one more dangerous than any he could find around Gotham or Blüdhaven. Nightwing died on camera, the world thinks he's gone, giving Bruce the perfect opportunity to send someone he trusts undercover into Spyral, a spy ring he had been tracking for some time. Even though it means lying to his family, Dick does as his mentor asks and leaves the manor, heading to Europe and Spyral. Nobody but Bruce knows he is alive.
present:
Still with Spyral, Dick has been working alongside Matron to try and weed out all the corruption from the organization. Stumbling upon an experimental facility which tracked the Speedforce in an attempt to access it. Dick stuck around, working with the researchers in the hopes of finding a way to bring his childhood friend, Wally, back from the mysterious plane of existence. Successfully seeing the missing Speedster in the energy, the attempt to extract him backfires and instead sends Dick hurtling through to the other’s location. Stranding him on Earth 1.
positive traits: Resilient, Kind, Courageous
negative traits: Bold, Selfless, Secretive
para sample:
So far his plan of avoiding other participants in this experiment had gone well. He’d managed to pass through the Cornucopia again without incident; aside from stumbling over a coil of rope and two skyhooks that he hadn’t seen amongst the rocks. Now he was headed down a deserted tunnel, sparingly using his flashlight as up ahead he could swear he saw natural light. Faint, but most certainly there. Unless of course he was hallucinating. Which if he was honest, he wouldn’t discount totally. He was definitely lacking some Vitamin D after spending so much time underground.
This cave was very much preferable to the one where he’d refilled his canteen and bottle (with water, thankfully, not pee), no skeleton for starters and it didn’t smell like a sweet shop exploded. In fact, as he stepped further into the cavernous space, he actually felt almost at home. A familiar rustling came from above, and the somewhat annoyed chitter that followed as his light swept the roof caused a smile to come to his face.
“Hello everyone,” Dick responded to the bats, “nice place you have here.”
Moving forward, his eyebrows shot up in surprise as saw the tree, leaves upturned toward the distant sunlight filtering through the mass of bats at the cave’s roof. Further inspection resulted in him picking a rather odd looking banana. But it tasted fine and was a welcome break from fish. His curiosity kept drawing his attention back to the light far above and the temptation to climb up there grew stronger. It was a tough ascent, he’d have to use all of his skill and his new sky hooks, but would beat sitting around in guano.

Can u gif wally scene with nate in lot?
I’m late, but I’m here!
Do I just realized that Cecile is Barry’s defense attorney in The Trial of The Flash. Do you think that will be addressed this season, but with her as the DA bringing charges against him?
It would be a huge conflict of interest for Cecile to bring charges against Barry, and I can’t imagine she would ever work against him like that now that she knows he’s the Flash. Then again, the show doesn’t operate on real-world rules and the Thinker can manipulate people’s thoughts and actions. So perhaps Cecile could be convinced by him that Barry is guilty and be the DA in his case, creating angst for the West family. Or she could quit her job in order to become his defense attorney because she believes in him that much…
I just read a spoiler that Barry and Ralph will have a “shared, checkered past”. Interesting, I wonder if he already knows Iris too, since Iris/Barry have known each other for so long. I’m really excited about this season!
Thanks for pointing out this CBR interview, I hadn’t read it before.
“Like in the comic books, he’s a private investigator,” Helbing said. “Ralph has detective skills that rival Batman’s. We tackle his abilities, which are going to be fun to do in live-action. We’re altering his backstory a little bit. He and Barry have this shared, checkered past. The two of them don’t get along from the onset.”
Interesting. My first guess is that it’s another Tony Woodward situation, and Ralph was a bully in high school. I would say maybe he asked Iris out once, since Barry would hate that, but the writers don’t usually go there. Another option is that he has interfered in crime scenes before, making him someone Barry and Joe can’t stand.
Ok I asked someone else this , you might or might not have seen it, I wanted to know why the Samurai was faster than Barry? Was it the head start? Was I really the flying ? Are we supposed to guess that it’s all in slow motion when he is chasing the Samurai to when he saves Iris?
I personally thought it was slow-motion, but I assume the Samuroid was faster because of the head start. Barry caught up to him by the time he needed to, and I don’t think it was that long either once Barry started running. After all, Joe had to run/drive at normal speed and inform Barry of what happened while the Samuroid was busy flying Iris away - so that’s a pretty big head start.
Ok so I might be blowing this out of proportion but I noticed that when the team first see B in his scrambled state & Iris calls his name, he turns around and smiles at C@itlin & she smiles back, the camera lingers on them & lris has to keep calling his name till he finally looks at her. I keep seeing ppl point this out as an SB moment and I will admit when I first saw the ep. I was a little alarmed by it. Do you think one day they might kill Iris for real, do the trial storyline, and do SB?
I definitely didn’t read anything romantic into that, and I don’t think anyone who isn’t overly concerned with SB (in either a negative or positive way) would either. If the writers wanted you to see SB foreshadowing in something, it would be incredibly obvious. They are not subtle people, lol. So no, they will never kill Iris for real to do SB. Iris’ death is not even required for the trial storyline. What people don’t realize about Trial of the Flash is that Barry was actually guilty there. So yes, only a “dead” Iris would put Barry in the position of killing someone - even on accident. But our Barry already says he’s innocent in his speedforce ramblings, so it’s already a different story on the show.
Cisco/Caitlin is dead in the water, and even that is approximately 500% more likely to occur than SB.

The Flash 4x01 The Flash Reborn
Some of my thoughts and observations I’m writing between commercials
Please don’t read if you haven’t seen the episode!
Spoilers under the cut.
Iris leading the team! I really adore this. Fuck Iris West haters, she has so badly needed to do more, and I’m glad they’re finally bringing her more to the forefront. I adored Iris during Wally’s run after she came back from the future, sorta reminds me of that Iris. I haven’t read a lot of Barry’s original run yet, unfortunately.
Joe finally having progress with his relationship. That’s adorable.
Iris seems to really be struggling accepting Barry is gone. They all are, but her especially.
Peek-a-Boo! That was really nice, we haven’t seen her in a while. Wish it had been a bit more than just a chase.
Android samurai...honestly still don’t much care for it, but talk about an obscure comic reference.
Iris doesn’t want to try to get Barry back, which we already knew from spoilers. I can see why people would feel negatively but from her point of view, getting her hopes up would hurt more if it didn’t work and he really was gone. I mean, I get it.
Caitlin is back! Cisco went to a bar to get her help that’s she working in. She seems to be doing better mentally and emotionally. Who is that guy though at the bar? Hmm. They were looking at each other suspiciously.
Their attempt to get Barry back seemed to fail, and Iris didn’t like they went behind her back to do it. Barry came running out of the speedforce naked. That entire scene was funny.
They have him at the police station, with him writing what appears to be gibberish on the walls but I assume it connects to his advance thinking (I’m guessing based on Wally’s Thinker arc). He thinks incredibly fast, which is what DeVoe is after. He’s also speaking like he’s lost in time, I guess speedforce.
Brought him back to the labs. They got no idea what’s wrong. Still sticking with my theory his mind is moving so fast, he’s trying to adjust.
Samurai man is back. Wally went in Barry’s suit, which i LOVE but he lost pitifully and got stabbed in the leg.
Cisco and Caitlin moment. She’s still trying to put a wall between them.
They finally translated his code. “This house is bitchin’.” Okay then. Gotta be more there.
Joe shaving Barry...and he finally says something sensible and almost related to what is present day and about Iris.
Iris offered herself up to the Samurai after telling Barry to come get her. She knew it was the only way to stop the attack on CC. I love her.
It just occurred to me - I think these samurai are made by The Thinker. God. Captain obvious aware goes to me. Let’s find out!
Joe runs to Barry, pleading for him to save Iris. When he shouts, “Iris is going to die!,” BOOOOY his eyes go lightning and he BLASTS out of the fucking pipeline and I also think we got an answer to whether Barry can get out.
FUCK YES I KNEW IT! HE GOT FASTER IN BOTH HIS RUNNING AND THINKING THE SPEEDFORCE! THIS IS BADASS.
HE SAVED IRIS OF COURSE, YES! THIS SCENE I LOOOVE. Also CONFIRMATION! THE THINKER! “Welcome home, Flash.” as he removed the mask of the samurai. But how did he know!! Hmm...well he is The Thinker...
So it looks like Caitlin is going to be sticking around, I am so glad!
Sooo looks like Killer Frost was working with Amunet aka Blacksmith? Hmm And what’s going on with Caitlin? Questions...
Iris still looks unhappy? It has been a long time without Barry.
OH MY GOD THINKER!!! I LIKE HIS LOOKS!!! FUUUUCK!!! And BLACKSMITH!!!! THIS!!! IS!!! MY!!! SHIT!!!! “I’m thinking.” HEEELP

Future Barry is Savitar? I haven’t seen this episode yet but
MYLONGESTYEAHBOIEVER.MP3
Iris West doesn’t deserve what happens to her (which won’t happen, if the finale photos are any indication), but, let’s be honest Barry has spent the entire three seasons disrespecting Iris whenever he could: lying about his identity; flirting with her while she was with Eddie; beating up Eddie out of jealousy; lying about his identity; taking advantage of knowing she kissed him in one timeline to make moves on her in another; dropping the L-bomb on her on Christmas while she was with Eddie, instead of putting his feelings aside like he should have 10+ years ago and respecting the platonic dynamic of her relationship with him; lying about Mason’s death; lying about his identity; bringing Eddie into the Circle of Liars ( Eddie originally wanted to tell Iris, remember that, you guys ); fucking up so bad against Eobard that Eddie killed himself, depriving Iris of a natural dissolution to her relationship if there even was one; trying to get with another version of Iris while that Iris was unaware that that wasn’t her husband; starting Flashpoint and stalking Iris for three whole months instead of talking to her like a normal person; stealing her wallet from right next to her and convincing her she dropped it, instead of talking to her like a normal person; only helping Joe because he wanted to get with Iris and not a moment sooner; not helping Wally against the Rival when he was right there, resulting in Wally being injured and Iris almost losing her brother; ignoring the fact that Iris and Joe were estranged in post-Flashpoint for a good reason and forcing them to be together for his benefit; proposing to her not out of genuine love but because she was about to die soon and he wanted to “change the future” ( what, did he think Savitar respects honeymoons? was Barry going to use husband-status to convince Iris not to be in the area where she’d die? what? ); getting Wally trapped in the Speedforce via hypocritically being mad about Wally keeping secrets, resulting in Wally experiencing his personal hell for an untold amount of time; and other bullshit with the pretense of “saving Iris” ( almost letting people die, not bothering to apprehend criminals, using his friends as tools when convenient ). I know I’m missing a few instances but that’s off the top of my head. For at least the first two seasons he was running off of the fact that just because the byline on the future newspaper and their lives on Earth-2 said he’s married to her, that he’ll get married to her. Otherwise he’d been acting like a total fuckshit until that point. Last episode established he’s capable of disrespecting her wishes as a person post-mortem. He promised her he’d keep in touch with Joe and the team and not let her death set them apart, and then it turns out he did exactly that because his pain was too great. As if everyone else’s wasnt?
He absolutely deserves this reveal. This is the most logical conclusion I could think of to “Barry is a total ass to Iris and hurts her, hurts everyone around her using her as an excuse, and continues to do so unchecked, because he sometimes feels bad about it”. He's spent too much of this season pulling ridiculous stunts for his own benefit, prioritizing his pain over everyone else’s, going back on his word when he promises not to do [insert negative thing], and then feeling sorry for himself afterward when it doesn't work out. "I'm sorry" this and "I'm sorry" that, instead of just not doing the things he was clearly advised not to do, instead of actually caring for people and their issues. Then when he feels bad, there's at least one other character being the Writer's Mouthpiece and caping for him at their own expense, saying "Well, he's the good guy and he's sorry so it's okay, we've all made mistakes too". They forced Iris to be that Mouthpiece, and I’m pretty sure more than once, because Precious Barry Allen can never be called out on anything, and Iris only has negative feelings for One Whole Episode ( at most! ) before needing to forgive him because “true love, OTP”. Remember that ultimatum she put that if he lied to her again, their relationship would be over? That was the beginning of Season 3, IIRC. But even though Barry did lie to Iris between then and episode 16, Iris wasn’t allowed to make through on her words or have any sort of feelings except pro-Barry, so Barry broke up with her, leaving her visibly devastated. And then they didn’t even stay broken up. He just came crawling back with a song and she forgave him, because “true love, OTP”. They broke up for one week. Episode 19 is the first episode I've seen where Barry actually noticed the damage his self-centered behavior could cause other people. Having the villain be him down a darker path might cement for him the fact that he is constantly screwing things up and needs to stop sooner rather than later. Even his Future Self from 2056 realizes how much of an idiot he was, to have sent that message to the past saying "Hey, guys, don't trust me!" (paraphrasing). You know you fucked up when even your Future Self tells everyone how much of a fuck-up you are. Barry’s Flashpoint antics in particular put the Bad Future of 2046 ( John Diggle's death, etc. ) back on the table, and it brought the attention of the Dominators who tried to set-off the meta bomb, and, you know, that’s all pretty bad. So Barry absolutely deserves this reveal. Otherwise, how much sense does it make that up until now, only the women of the show, or the men of color in this show, were the only ones shown doubting their powers or being told they were better off not having them? Cisco only met Reverb for 10 minutes. Caitlin met E-2 Killer Frost and interacted with her for around the same amount of time. The both of them were immediately worried about whether having powers would make them turn evil just for having them. Despite having no proof that they themselves would lose control of their abilities ( and in Cait’s case, she didn’t even have powers to worry about until, you guessed it, Flashpoint ) they still feared the possibility. Yet Barry encountered 4 evil speedsters across 3 seasons and never once doubted that maybe his powers might make him evil or that he wasn’t meant to have them. Wally and Jesse only got their powers this season, and Jay made his proper debut in the season 2 finale, so it wasn't like their goodness was a balancing force throughout the show. Barry still met more bad guys with his powers than good guys with his powers. If anyone should’ve had the "I'm worried my powers are corrupting me" storyline, it's him. Wally became a speedster in Flashpoint, then when he knew about it post-FP, every character around him was telling him he didn’t need powers, he was better off without powers, that he’d get hurt, and it’s dangerous, and all this patronizing junk. Jesse got powers, and Harry came all the way from Earth-2 to get someone from Earth-1 to convince her that she didn’t need powers, she was better off without powers, that she’d get hurt, etc. ... Yet Barry lost his powers and his SWM ass got an entire episode dedicated to showing him as absolutely useless without them, and how much he needed to have them, and he was the best version of himself with them, as if he didn’t have other ways to perform good, like through the intellect he’s supposed to have as a CSI. That they all now have powers and act as heroes now isn’t the point. The point was the storyline around it-- the writers chose to write Cisco and Caitlin as “worried about their powers, because potential evil”, or have other characters express their opinions that Wally and Jesse were “good enough/better without powers” while Barry was written as “too good for self-doubt” and “the best with powers”, showing what they really think about a) “powerless” people, and b) anyone that’s not Barry. So, yes. Barry Allen absolutely deserves this reveal.
#anti barry allen#the flash spoilers#i need to actually watch this episode#hopefully they establish that iris doesn't ACTUALLY need to die#for Barry to become Savitar#he's just naturally an asshole who uses Iris as an excuse#that's perfectly in line with his writing so far tbh#long post

Spoilers uder the cut, because I couldnt live with myself with so much disappointments
You know what? I hate it, I hate that season finale (the Flash/season 3) more than I hated the Legends of Tomorrow`s one.
First, HR death in Barry`s arms, his death was not a surprise for me, not with all the clues that CW give us and the rumors out there, but shit, that was not fair!!! I meant and here please Iris West fans get out, the coldness of -Oh he die for me, thats okay, Barry come a hug me- I meant bitch!!! Please!!! at least say thank you HR, I dont fucking care if you say some lines in his funeral, he deserved more from you!!! He save your fucking life!!!
Second, the bazuca? seriously Savitar? I meant -again- not the best of the plans if you made Cisco works for you, he would and actually did betray you! He was never your friend! Not with everything that happen between Barry and Cisco after Flashpoint! And you can come here and tell me, oh but Cisco forgave him, and you know what, bullshit!!! Cisco may understand why Barry did what he did when he created Flashpoint, but that doesnt mean that Cisco forgive him!!! No sir, sorry, when did you actualy listen I forgive you Barry coming from Cisco lips? I could tell... NEVER!!!!!! So, great plan Savitar, no wonder why your dead now.
Third and Forth, -come home- from Barry to Savitar, and here I thought, yes they will be one person again, Barry would absorb somehow Savitar (and of course my wicked mind says, yes they would fuck, Savitar to Barry or Barry to Savitar or they would be vibrate or something!!!!!!) BUT NO THE SHIT THING THAT BARRY DID TAKING SAVITAR TO STAR LABS, no, no with all that had already happen!!! no after Savitar killed HR and try to kill Iris, and put everyone in danger! LIKE!!! COME ON BARRY, USE THE BRAIN THAT WE KNOW YOU HAVE!!!!!!!! But aparently he didnt use it and now STAR Labs turned to shit, and I have to wonder, who is going to pay for that? Is Thawne`s living trust that big? And here a have to make a big emphasis, is Barry living from that money? because he barely worked the last two seasons! So my theory that Barry is marry with Harribard still stands up, and I dont accepted negative comments here, let me live with what I have.
Fifth, Okay, yes, they bring back Harry, because we all know that Team Flash (?) needed him, yes, he is the truly mastermind, besides of HR, because no one think about looking for Savitar with the metal thing of Savitar`s suit, geniuses!!!!!!!! Really? REALLY????? Like oh let keep this like a fucking christmas decoration!!! But that was going to make me to go back to point one, so move on!
Sixth, Black Flash die like that? COME ON NOW!!!!! yes, yes, he was a zombie-speedster more that anything, but that was the thing!!!!!!! He was under the Speedforce control god damn it!!!! If that`s how CW thought of stoping him, well then there is nothing that Eobard (blond) could do right? Because he wasnt smart enough to think like -Uh, cold stop speedsters, so lets use cold to stop the Black Flash!! and oh! hi Snart, so before you betray me, after I give you your life back, help me out with this!- and then, oh the CW geniuses, let give them the explanation, cold vs speed, cold wins, and lets make Savitar said it so it sound cooler!!!!! SHIT, FIGHT ME CW WRITERS!!!!!!! COME ON BITCHES!!!! COME ON!!!!
And Finally, finally!!! the great end (part 1)!!!! Like I know that some of you are happy that everything ended, but like that? Okay, I liked that Garrick came out because he never belongs there, in the speedforce, so good, Jay is back, okay, but then? Oh just like that after everything Frost-Caitlin came back? just because some words from Cisco? when she was so sure of herself and her servitude to Savitar? and how Savitar says: yes, do it, kill me, you will become in me, and man!!!!!!! and then that bullshit of murder!!! like, BITCH!!!!! BARRY CAN STOP BULLETS!!! EVEN IF HE DOESNT SEE THEM!!! HE DID THAT IN SEASON 1, AND NOW YOU TELL ME THAT SAVITAR, A FASTER AND BETTER VERSION (never said good one, just remember the dark lord, he did great things, darker things but great at the end) COULD STOP A FUCKING BULLET? REALLY????????? NO, I DONT ACCEPT THAT, NOT NOW, NOT EVER!!!!!! FUCK YOU CW!!!!!!
And Finally, finally!!! the great end (part 2)!!!! SOMETHING ABOUT THIS WELLS? REALLY BARRY? REALLY? SHIT! NO, SORRY I CANT WITH SO MUCH HATE IN MY LIFE, AND THEN BARRY AND IRIS LAUGHING!!!!!!! IM GLAD THAT NEITHER OF YOU GET MARRY!!!! AND GOOD, IM GLAD THAT THE SPEEDFORCE TOOK BARRY AWAY, TAKE THAT IRIS WEST-ALLEN, and that shit of I`ve always been Iris West Allen? Bitch I remind you that you were about to be Iris -fucking West-Thawne, REMEMBER? Okay, i dont hate Wally, but what then? the show now would be, The Kid Flash? NOPE, SORRY, DO YOUR OWN SHOW WALLY, please!!!!
And that kiss? BITCH YOU DONT KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO SEE WHAT YOU CALLED THE LOVE OF YOU LIFE, AND REALLY I HAVE SEEN BETTER KISSES IN PORN MOVIES!!!! I MEANT MORE SENTIMENT IRIS! COME ON!!!!
--The only two good things I saw in this chapter was, one: Anything for you from Harry to Barry (Barrison, thank you very much) and My beautiful boy from speedforce-momNora to Barry. THAT`S ALL--
Fuck this shit, Im out.
#the flash spoilers#the flash#fuck this shit#bye#sorry for my bad english#i have never wrote so much#iris lovers this note is not for you#you have been warned

Kaede Kisaragi Watches The Flash S3E16 - Into the Speed Force
“Let’s do the timewarp again!”
"Savitar was right. This is all because of me, because of my weakness. Flashpoint. And because of it, everyone's lives have changed. Everyone I love is suffering. This has to stop. I can't let anyone hurt anymore because of me. No one else should have to pay for my sins. And they won't. Ever again."
Nice speech Bar, but you could've used it at the stinger last episode, don't you think? He tells Cisco to get the breach room ready. He's gonna save Wally. How? He'll return to the speed force. Joe knows it's the only way to save Wally, but he doesn't wanna lose both sons. HR does his usual thing, telling the team to whip ways to keep Barry tethered to reality so he doesn't disappear again. Cisco will design a cosmic tether. Julian will design a component to measure his vitals inside the speed force. And if the vitals fluctuate, they can drop him out of the speed force. Except Jessie wants to come with. HR says no, because...
"If your father finds out you were lost in some negative world, first one who'll get a broken schnoz will be me." "Negative world? So they got Mario on Earth-29?" "Yeah, challenge me."
I died XD Barry insists he needs to do this alone, and Jessie needs to protect the city. Before he leaves, he talks to Iris, promising he'll rescue Wally. She's not wearing the ring. She doesn't answer when he asks if he lost her. Joe tries to talk to Barry, who tries dismissing it, but Joe says this is not the time to dismiss it. Barry sourly admits he may have changed the future one too many times.
Cisco and Caitlin explain their tech they'll use to keep track of Barry to Julian, while also introducing Cisco's patented interdimensional bluetooth, Goldtooth. Uh huh, you totally were trying to charm Lisa Snart weren't you, Cisco? Soon, the time comes for the big mission. Barry gets a little kiss from Iris, tells her she loves him, she hesitates before replying. Cisco vibes Barry into the speedforce. He lets go of Barry... And he's off.
We start off at CCPD. Thunderstorm. He walks downstairs, all quiet. Calling out for Wally. Instead, he meets... Eddie Thawne.
Eddie questions barry on whether it really is his fault that Wally is trapped, saying he's in a prison created by future Barry. Eddie says 'they' are not going to be as accomodating to Barry's questions as they were last time. As it turns out, the speedforce does not like being lied to, and Barry lied when he said he'd gotten over his mother's death, the reason why it gave barry his speed back. But the Speedforce understood Barry only created Flashpoint out of anger for his father's death. Problem is, choices have consequences. And it cannot let Barry take more choices like that. Wally is a Flash. And he made a choice. And he'll need to live with it, like Barry.
Back to reality, HR has overdosed on expressos. Jessie brings Savitar's blade to Cisco, asking him to vibe him, now that he's out of speedforce. Cisco, wisely, asks what she'll do with that if she learns where he is. He refuses to help her, even though she shows little certainty on Wally being rescued quickly. HR was listening.
Iris and Joe are in the time vault, looking at the newspaper article still written by Julie Greer. Iris is showing second thoughts, feeling worried she took the wrong decision. Joe reassures her that he knows what she's feeling, that she doesn't know what is right and what is wrong. He tells her to look into her heart to find the answer she needs. Word of Joe. Praise be West.
In the speedforce, Eddie comments how Eddie almost had a different life. Married to Iris. Son to Joe. But then... Gunshot wound. Blood dripping. His only legacy is his death. Eddie questions again if Barry only came to save Wally. Barry insists that's the only reason. Eddie tells him to go through the doors to save Wally. But he'll need to outrun... the time wraith. Flash and wraith fight each other, Barry running into the elevator after passing through the wraith.
He exits inside STAR Labs. A baby's cry. Caitlin singing her daughter a lullaby. Ronnie Raymond enters the room. His turn to talk.
At the real labs, HR annoys the team by confusing Schroedinger with Schroeder. And insisting it's Charlie Brown who plays piano, because he can't play the piano on Earth-29. Alright then. Jessie vents angrily at HR's casualness, and they get back to discussing the blade, made of a material that is in constant flux in the inside, as if affected by an external influence. Jessie figures it could be trying to return to savitar's body. She tries to grab it, but HR stops her, voicing the hesitation of the group that she's pulling a Wally by being impatient. Julian, begrudgingly, agrees. HR puts his foot in his mouth by saying they'll fight Savitar "when the real flash returns". He goes after her to apologize, and she annoyedly points out she IS Earth-2's Flash, and she has fought many monsters. She tells HR off for trying to be Harry.
Ronnie rubs in how Barry is regretting another life he changed by being involved. Barry says he understands the speedforce's plan, to make him see all the people who sacrificed for the greater good... But Ronnie says they did it for BARRY, not the greater good. Just like Wally. Barry insists Wally was tricked and that he's here to take his place. Ronnie says there's another reason... He wants to sacrifice himself for Wally. They can't allow that. Because Wally's place is a hell of his own. Ronnie says he must leave while he can. Barry says no. He was warned... Cue Hunter Zolomon as the zombie Zoom. It hunts Flash as they fight on the hallways. It pins barry down as he tries to flee.
In real world, the telemetry is going haywire. Ronnie tells off Barry for speaking of sacrifice while he lets everyone bear his burdens. Barry admits he shouldn't have asked Wally to save Iris. Ronnie says the only way Barry can save Wally is by saving himself first. As his own body begins to rot, Barry grabs his lightning symbol and slams it on Zoom, exploding him. Cisco lost Barry's tether. How are they going to get them back now?
Barry wakes up in a hospital. Lightning still going outside. He sees Wally inside a hospital room. But the doorknob is frozen... By Captain Cold.
Jessie steals savitar's blade. HR is on her way, saying she fighting Savitar won't get Wally back, but her killed. And he won't move out of her way. So she punches him out cold. It felt oddly satisfying.
Wally is trapped in a time loop, like Savitar was before. Wally is reliving his most painful moment of his life... The day his mother died. Snart teases Barry for pretending he deserves this more than Wally. Barry says he's seen his hell. His future. Snart mockingly tells him to change the future if he dislikes it. Barry explodes, angrily saying he can't do that, he's not fast enough but Wally is, that is why Wally must be freed. Wally can save Iris. Snart mocks Barry for repeatedly telling one thing and doing another, not learning any lesson. Snart also adds that the REAL Snart sacrificed himself because of Barry's example. Because Snart wanted to be better. Selfless. A hero. Like Barry. Barry says he is no hero. That he's done fighting. Snart freezes him, saying THAT is the problem. If he thinks Iris' dying is hell... He's seen nothing yet. He is rescued by the sudden arrival of Jay Garrick.
Jessie Quick and the blade track Savitar. She finds him. Jessie tosses a speed lightning at Savitar, who just absorbs it and shoots back, sending her flying. He tries to summon the blade back, but Jessie is holding it. She asks HR (on the labs) to help her. He surmises that somewhere in Savitar's armor, he's vulnerable, so she should go for it. She uses the blade and stabs him in the neck. He flees.
Jay, the real Jay, was asked by cisco to help. But he gets blasted by Snart. Barry rushes in, using Jay's helmet to reflex Snart's cold beam. Barry says he's taking Wally, and he'd tells them to stop him if they can. Snart subtly smiles as Barry breaks the ice on the door. He comforts Wally, gently guiding him out... But Jay stays in the room, saying this is where he must remain for a while. Jay says a speedster needs to stay in Wally's place, and he owes Barry for saving him from Zoom. He says he's ran one helluva a race... But every marathon has a finish line. Barry needs to go and put an end to Savitar. By doing what he does best. Being The Flash. He gives his helmet to Barry so Cisco can track him. Barry promises he'll free Jay and give him the helmet back. Jay smiles as he says farewell to Barry. The hospital room closes.
Wally and Barry are spat out by the speedforce. Cisco and the team are stunned by Barry revealing Jay's sacrifice. Iris and Barry are left alone. He hugs her.
Barry tells the team of the speedforce's test. And how it was all to teach him a lesson. Saving Iris is his responsibility, no one else's. They'll rescue Jay when they beat Savitar. And Wally, he's gonna be shaken for a while, so Kid Flash will be benched for now. Wally and Jessie talk, him disbelieving she tried to fight savitar alone. Jessie says she won't repeat the mistake... back on her earth. Because she's returning to earth-3 (not 2), so she can take Jay's place and so she can avoid Savitar's mysterious plans for her. They tell each other they love each other, kissing.
Jessie is leaving. She apologizes for punching HR. She thanks HR for being a friend, hugging him. She says farewell to Wally, leaving through the breach open by Cisco. HR cheers the team up by pointing out that, if Savitar feels pain, then he is a man. And he can be beaten.
Barry comes home to meet Iris. Her ring on top of the table. He realizes what she's said, of not wanting to be just a girl who is saved. And he says it's impossible not to be upset by seeing her die. She says she gets it. It made her question whether he asked her to marry out of love or responsibility. But she now knows she doesn't wanna doubt why he marries her. She wants to be his wife. Barry tells her he loves her, but she was right. He proposed out of fear. Because it'd save her. Because Wally would save her. But now he knows he'll have to save her. Not by changing the future, but embracing it. Which means... He wants them to have some space for a while. He can't move forward like this. She tears up, understanding.
This could be considered both a return to status quo episode AND a plot advancement episode at same time. Barry learns another lesson (whether it'll stick remains to be seen), Wally learns a VERY hard lesson, Jessie leaves the team, and we get another selfless sacrifice from the most heroic of the Flashes, Jay. This episode was also a blast from the past in all possible ways, with five different dead characters returning (yes, I count the time wraith). The choice of voices were appropriate. Eddie was the friendly, compassionate voice. Ronnie was the rougher, more confrontational voice. And Snart was the voice that said 'screw it, let's rub it in, you won't take it other way'. Jessie's confrontation with Savitar, on other hand, serves only two real purposes: reveal savitar's humanity, and let her punch HR. Other than that, she was acting a bit... ungrateful to the team for worrying for her. But it's as HR says, she's a Wells, she's a hardhead. Biggest status quo, of course, is Barry and Iris being on hold. Which is good. Maybe after the season is over, they can get to dating, not rush back into marriage. Because this is really what they need right now, time. This whole thing will also probably take Iris away from constantly being around the team (something many of her detractors hate).
Nice subtle show of Julian's gradual growing closer to the team by him learning about their wacky past experiences. There's hope for our brit.
Next time, WE GOT MUSICAL ALARM!!!

Barry has a habit of running away from his problems. Iris also has a fear that because of that, he'd leave and never come back. I remember the worry she had when he was about to go to E2 for the first time. In 3x16, Barry went into the Speedforce to get Wally, but she was afraid that she would never see him again, which made her question about putting the engagement on hold. Also, why is nobody alarmed that Barry vanishes in 2024? 😕
They’re both also hilariously bad at confrontation, my poor bbs. But yeah, all someone Iris is mad at has to do is almost die, and she will come running back to them. You’re spot on about Barry running away from his problems, so hopefully he starts facing them head on after next week.
As for 2024, maybe that’s why no one is concerned? They’re like, “Eh, he probably ran back to save his mom again.” Or, “He’s probably creating a time remnant to fight Reverse Flash.” Or, “He’s apologizing to the speedforce again.” And so on and so forth, lol. He’s disappeared countless times while Iris only becomes Iris West-Allen once.
The NYT talked about one of the songs for the musical is a rendition of “More I Cannot Wish You”. Listening to the lyrics, it sounds like a song Millie’s dads would sing to her. Then the part about finding a true love that will gaze at her makes me look at Barry in one of those pics.
I saw @sunshinesunsethappiness‘s post on this and totally agree with her assessment. It sounds like the song Millie’s dads would sing when they accept her love for Tommy. So hopefully Barry helps ensure the happiness of dream!Iris, and in doing so realizes he may as well let himself be happy with real!Iris.
I honestly feel like the last episode was super rushed not only with WA stuff, but also with Speed Force blaming game, so that Barry would learn that only he’s supposed to save Iris. Some part of me thinks they did it because they received negative feedback over Wally saving Iris, so they had to come up with some stupid reasoning to revert it.
I agree that it was rushed, but not because of negative feedback about Wally saving Iris. The episode was written before 3.11 and 3.12 aired, plus I don’t think people were all that upset with it. Finally, any plan suggested halfway through the season is not meant to work out, I just think they were sloppy in how they went about switching plans.
I want the season to end happy tbh. I want Barry to defeat Savitar and Caitlin to be KF (I’m still team death to SL) and the ONE THING I WANT MOST is for Barry to get a new suit, go back in time, and stop S1 Barry from saving his mother because BITCH, YOU AIN’T WANT THESE PROBLEMS. - minute42
If the season doesn’t end happily, I’m rioting. We’ve been through too much morose angst for two seasons, let Barry have joy!!! And I’d love to see him go back and tell his past self no. I used to be 100% confident that would happen in this finale, and it still makes sense, but I guess we’ve moved so far from it that I forgot. Since the speedforce brought Flashpoint up again last night, though, I think you might be right.
