She has not just been raped and murdered, she was very much tortured and brutalized like Nirbhaya. It is all over the Bengali news. I don't understand why no one is talking about this.
A 2nd year Respiratory Medicine in a well known government medical college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India is found in a semi-naked state and the college/ hospital called it a suicide.
I'm a MBBS student in second year. After reading about her, what crossed my mind is the amount of times she would have felt this fear, before this worst fear of hers eventually materialized.
"A young resident doctor was found dead in the seminar room of her medical college in Kolkata. Initial autopsy report suggests possible rape and murder."
As all are saying,
She wasn't walking the street at odd hours. She wasn't wearing clothes that were provocative. She wasn't loitering in dangerous neighbourhoods.
She was a resident doctor, looking for a place to rest in her own hospital.
She had been on duty and had gone to rest in the early hours of Friday.
The one place which was supposed to guarantee her safety failed her, miserably.
Someone comes, rapes a female pg who is merely resting in a seminar hall because there is no proper place for her to rest, brutalized her and kills her. How did NO one know? The college and police initially call it a suicide. Excuse me? It is also being said that under pressure from local politicians, the Principal and Dean attempted to alter the post-mortem report. Autopsy confirms sexual assault.
What are the actions taken? One man arrested because his behavior seemed "shady". This is clearly not an act of one man. And this was a very well aware of and a well executed criminal act.
Also, all this happening in WB right when the situation of bangladesh is in turmoil and news of Bangladeshi Hindus being killed and tortured, seems wrong, VERY WRONG. Happening right before NEET-PG, as 24 lakh doctors prepare to write an exam on Sunday to be resident doctors, this news has wrapped us all in agony and rage,
What are they working so hard for? Why should they aspire to be in a system that ignores their basic needs? The minimum requirement of a workplace is safety. That should be non-negotiable.
This profession demands extereme hardwork, a lot of mental strength and Physical Assaults, harassment, low paying jobs with odd working hours with intense humiliation. Now its the worst of all seeing a bright mind losing her life in the most disrespectful state of all. This should never happen to any woman.
I'd also like to question why isn't any big media house covering this news, where are all the international news channels all this time.
What are the students in other medical colleges doing? This talks about their own safety and lives. What are the medical students across the world doing? It's time for us to stand for the most basic Human right, safety.
Yesterday when my roommate, an MBBS final year intern was heading for her night posting, I feared and prayed for her to come back safely. Thinking about it, in a few years I will also have night posting, I'll also return from my hospital duties late at night. I'll also have to go through the same fear, and I'll also have to keep praying that my worst fears don't turn into reality. So many female doctors, nursing staffs, other Healthcare workers, other working women, non-working women go through the same fear, probably multiple times a day.
It is a shame to be born in such a disgusting world and society, it is shame to witness such a brutal crime, and it is a shame to live in this fear daily.
Those RAPISTS need to be hunged infront of the whole natio...if needed burned alive. People should fear the idea of raping, more than getting raped.

moment of honesty — my physics is very weak. it has always been. and presently, class 12 physics just doesn't sit right with me. i seemingly understand all concepts, derivations and theories, and can solve direct formula based numericals but when it comes to conceptual or application based questions, my mind goes blank. and so, to cope with this, until my first set of exams back in june, my brain thought the best idea would be to completely ignore the subject till one week before exams. and yep, obviously that yielded the results i deserved. i scored disastrously in physics unit exam (the one that was held a few weeks back). i just barely passed (thank you god for not failing me) and trust me, this is a first. so now, after my parents and teachers telling me the same thing over and over again, i have realised that it is high time for me to do over in this subject and improve my graph. i don't even know how because i'm actually really scared of the subject but i just need to. i have like roughly a month until mid terms, and if this time i slack off, I'll pay by failing and i cannot let that happen. so i need to do this any how and i will do it.
molecular basis of inheritance [30 mins]
finished taking notes of d and f blocks [1 hour]
read the notes mentioned above [45 mins]

i call this au boringmatsu lol they’re literally just dudes trying to get by on this bitch of an earth!
au info:
oso - has 2 jobs, almost always wearing his work clothes, is in constant debt bc his many many many vices get the best of him, v much misses being a neet but the others are sooooo mean and make him contribute 🙄
kara - is constantly in between jobs, sadly tends to get fired when trying extra hard to impress on the job, helps ichi with house chores when he’s unemployed, still cringe just less so bc the job hunt leaves him too tired to be at full power lol
choro - salaryman, oso and (when possible) kara help with the family expenses (care for their parents, sending the youngest 2 to college, general living expenses) but choro is clearly the breadwinner, S T R E S S E D, graying early, he just wants a day off man!
ichi - homemaker, too intimidated/overwhelmed by the thought of getting a job or going to college, makes kara do all cleaning when possible (not the cooking tho he doesn’t trust kara to make something edible lol), can get obsessive over having things done right (mostly bc he doesn’t wanna give the others a reason to kick him out)
jyushi - college student, on the baseball team, aiming to go pro, struggling real hard with classes, you’d never know it thanks to his sunny personality but he’s v worried about flunking out and disappointing the family
todo - college student, cheated on his entrance exams and is now paying for it by drowning in schoolwork, still doesn’t really know what career he wants he just thought college would be the easier ~more fun~ option (he was wrong lol)
they’re just a bunch of potato boys trying their best lmao

hi y'all! good day, got a lot done in biology! did a satisfactory amt. of chemistry too, but kind of neglected physics unfortunately :( i'll try to wake up early tmrw and do numericals since that's a weak point that i need to get done with. mentally felt okay, also worked out so there's that :) i think it's slowly dawning on me that NEET is exactly 4 months away, so i need to get my shit together and buckle up lol. i'll be having exams till the 19th, so after that i'll try finishing up with the XI syllabus + XII syllabus (partially) if i can. (without compromising my understanding of important concepts)

Someone in my inbox (they asked not to tag them) asked me about the repost I made regarding Moumita case so I want to tell you all about it, both because I want more people aware of this and because this has got a lot of rage in me which I want to let out.
My dear followers of you have just some time to read this post and do as least as pray for the poor soul of Moumita and several others I'll talk about in this post after reading this I'll really appreciate. There are heavy mentions of brutal rape and assault cases so if that is too triggering for you refrain from reading.
So this thing happened in India (where I live) on 9th August. Yes that recent. Dr Moumita Debnath was a doctor in Kolkata at RG kar medical College which as far as my knowledge is is a Government College and hospital. To get into this college students need to pass neet exams which one of the toughest exams in the world. She was a doctor in practice. A few interns were running a sex and drug racket INSIDE the hospital. Moumita got to know about this and threatened to expose on social media and tell the authorities. She was unaware that the said authorities was also involved in the racket. She was troubled for the next few days including her new car being vandalized and making her work 36 hour shifts. One night as she was in the hospital on a shift ON DUTY as a DOCTOR, she was caught, held and raped brutally. I won't get into too much details because it is very disturbing and graphic but one of the offenders was a GIRL who helped the men by tying up Moumita. Moumita was raped and beaten up by over 10 people and in the end AFTER she was dead her corpse was assaulted again by a scapegoat who is later sent to jail (keyword, as a scapegoat).
Sadly the story didn't end there. Moumitas parents weren't allowed to see her body for 3hours after arriving at scene. The cause of her death was told suicide. The place where the incident happens was broken down under the name of renovation. The police and government were involved in the tempering of evidence since the interns were from very influential backgrounds. People began peaceful protests and went for candle march to demand justice for Moumita and her soul.
The government's replies? The CHIEF MINISTER of West bengal who's herself a WOMAN states that Moumita was a "characterless" woman , she had a body which would tempt boys , boys can make mistakes so it's okay (??????) , she had affairs and was pregnant (idek why this is related true or not) and that people should not protest and March and should instead just mourn silently.
Shame on her for saying this as a woman herself.
During this candle march one of the protesters (female) was brutally raped, beaten and killed for the sole reason that she was part of the rape.
Sadly this is not the only thing that is happening in India right now.
A 3yo was assaulted by her can driver in woods in Mumbai.
A man eloped with a woman and the woman's family gangraped the man's sister
A man in dehli is arrested for raping his own daughter for the past 2 years
A vizag man rapes a woman in public and the onlookers film her instead of calling police
85 year old woman in up does after being raped
A catholic bishop assaults a nun
And these are only the cases which came forward in news in the past few days just in the span of a week or two.
Men aren't blamed. Women are the ones questioned. Women's character's were judged. Women are the ones told to protect themselves. Where is a woman safe? When is a woman safe? How is a woman safe?
She is still unsafe wearing a doctor's coat, a diaper, a saree, a burkha, anything. She is unsafe in her home, in a hospital, in her school, in public, in her workplace, at night, in morning. No matter how much she fights back she is still unsafe.
And she is still questioned.
It's heinous. Not just the crime but how the public and government reacts to this. And these are just the crime that are known. Hundreds and thousands and who knows how many rapecase files are just buried. Many more than those are never reported. Marital rapes and date rapes aren't even considered criminal.
On 15th august, it was India's 78th independence day. But what are we, the women, really independent from? 78 years and women still don't have half the security and rights as they deserve. Yes, women are now "allowed" to work and study. But they are still getting assaulted at workplaces and schools, no matter how noble the profession or how you g the student.
And Today itself I get a message from the place where I live - a popular gated community which prides itself for 24/7 security that a schoolgirl (12-13 yo) who was in her school uniform was followed by a creepy looking man outside her home and catcalled her (I am not sure if physical harassment took place). Yes, it was dark but the girl was probably coming from a tuition or class. You know what our community head said? "Due to this incident we advice women and children from roaming alone on the street after dark." Something snapped in me and I just wanted to tell this gentleman how about we stop the boys from stepping foot outside after dark instead?
Now as I come to an end of my rage, I just want to tell everyone that this post is not to downgrade my country. I do not want people to think all indian men are harmful or anything like that. Men like that are everywhere. Do not label our country slurs without knowing all of it.
I do not expect you to do anything about this. If possible, pray for these poor souls and let's hope for our government to take some, any serious action regarding this issue.

Day 11/100 days of Productivity
12th-13th April, 2024
Academia
I watched a video on Concentration terms from a JEE channel to learn a trick. It's at around 50:00.
I watched this video on questions on Concentration terms but its not really NEET related.
I learnt about Frog from quick video lessons on Unacademy X. I also did around 20 questions, not enough though.
Watched about 25 minutes of this lecture on frog until the hyperrealistic amphibian actually came on the screen. I'll have to finish this tomorrow. The lecture is actually really amazing.
Watched 1 hour of physics lecture on Solids.
I did about 56 questions of Biology but couldn't count the correct-incorrect questions.
I did about 40-50 questions from different chapters in biology from the book that I was practicing from but haven't completed any chapters yet.
Watched 41 minutes of a lecture on Molecular Biology.
Watched a few short video lectures of Chemical Equilibrium on Unacademy X.
Non Academia
I started watching Era's tours. Watched 15 minutes of it only. It's 3.5 hours long. I'm gonna watch it either when I'm taking a long break or when I'm done with my exams.
Watched this video on game theory. Very fascinating. How being nice, but not a doormat is the best strategy you can have long term. This video was basically an introduction to game theory for me.
I'm also taking part in 20 days of April breaking the cycle challenge of @thelastneuron so, it's day 1/20 (technically its day 1/18).
Kharbuja season is here.
A lot of things happened on 12th, and the only thing i can share is that it was my periods and i just sat watched tv for the whole evening. But its fine. I'll have to compensate for that today.
I'm gonna try to give better than my best in this new challenge started by my friend. Since, it's about breaking a cycle, I'm gonna go out and break the cycle of mediocrity in my efforts. Lets do this!
-Tanishka.

130 Day Productivity Challenge!
7 April, 2024 - Day 107
Test day. Mentally taxing week comes to an end and I yearn to progress and thrive henceforth. I am willing to work towards it.
I revised the sums I found hard or doubted today in the exam and revised the formation of dinitrogen, oxygen, oxides of nitrogen and ammonia. I revised some GOC and solved the recent JEE PYQs based on it connecting to NEET.
Hope you day went well💛

hii!! :) this is astra! 🩵
i hope this doesnt come off as rude or offensive 😿 but you've mentioned that you were originally preparing for neet, right? welllll im currently preparing for jee & i was just wondering like if you knew like neet wasn't just the "✨️destination✨️" or like "✨️the ultimate goal✨️" of yours?? idkk did you ever have these doubts 😭? bec im currently having them & i actually wanna prepare for neet bec I've always been interested in it lol 😅 saurr like I just wanted to know if you ever had the doubts & stuff bec I really dont wanna waste my parents money & efforts haha <3
& I hope you have a great day/night!! :) & im extremely sorry if I come off as rude or insensitive 😞 :(
nono its cool!! its not rude or insensitive at all its a very valid thing to ask and I'm honestly in a better place now so its chill
neet was my mom's dream. she always wanted to have a doctor in the family, and well it didn't happen because my dad and all of my siblings including me are engineers now lol. but as soon as my first grade I've had like "oh axy's gonna give neet, they're gonna become a doctor" drilled in my brain to the point where like, I didn't really know anything else. I kinda wasn't allowed to think differently for my entire highschool yknow? I get what you mean by having doubts because I did have them when the stress of it all got to me but at the same time I shoved them deep in my brain because I was in denial, it was my mom's dream so I couldn't have doubts.
she did this with my siblings, and well it didn't work out for them, and it evidently didn't work out with me either because when it was finally time to give neet, I realized, oh I just. I don't want this. I'm going to be stuck with these subjects for the rest of my life, preparing for exams like this for years and years and. I don't care about it enough to give up the years I had for it yknow? its like when you have two choices, and you flip a coin for it and you realize which one you want it to land on while its in the air.
I guess you could say then all the money my parents put in preparing me for neet was a waste. I mean, it was, it very much was, my mother was very disappointed and we do not have a good relationship - we're kinda working on it? - but I also think its inevitable, unfortunately. I don't think you get a win win situation when deciding for careers, especially as a desi, because at least one person you care about will be heavily disappointed and money will be wasted.
I'm kinda not the right person to ask lol because I'm still not sure what exactly I'm interested in - i'm enjoying engineering but maybe its because I'm taking subjects entirely opposite to that of neet who knows - but if you know for sure that neet will be good for you and that you're not interested in jee then go ahead and try to make it happen man! talk to your parentals, start that conversation, see how it goes even if it hurts a little on the way.
I'm a lot happier now even if it was miserable planting that seed into my parent's brain. the passive-aggressive comments will come and the guilt will be painful but like, at least you're not doubting and dreading the rest of your future yknow?
I hope that makes sense lol and I hope you got the answer you wanted. I also hope everything works out in your favour and that you're happier for it :]🫂
good day/night to you too!
p.s - sorry for answering late lol I was swamped with assignments

Do I need another reason to hate this government?
Today I’m writing the entrance exam for med school (yes, I’m talking about NEET) and man these mfs have a fuck ton of idiotic rules:
- no patterned clothes
- no full sleeved tops (and if anyone does come with full sleeved shirt, security will not hesitate to rip the sleeve off)
- no earrings or any sort of accessories
- pants should not have pockets
How the hell does someone commit malpractice using patterned clothes??! What the fuck is this system
Almost everything I own currently is either full sleeved or patterned. Searched every nook and corner possible, and now I’ve settled with one of my dad’s t-shirts and some very unflattering leggings. I don’t mind it, but still this was too much trouble for something completely unnecessary. Also I’m too dumb to copy anything from anyone ever, so I’m not sure if I’m a real threat 😭😭😭
Another thing, reporting time is 11:00 am. Do you know when the exam is? 2:00 pm. Yeah. I’m spending a whole day at this place. Yay.
Believe me when I say I’m leaving this country as soon as I get the chance
#personal#kinda annoying that I had to get my period too#sorry for bitching about it#but this is SO stupid#and so unnecessary#seriously though#addie rambles again

Hey! I'm about to start my medical college journey & am a little confused about the books to read in the first year. Could you please help me? I looked thru your blog & it seems like at your uni they follow a pattern and timeline similar to the Indian medical system, so I thought I'd pop by & ask you for some advice :)
PS: Love your blog, really inspirational!! 🩵 I'm a ex-French learner myself & your posts really inspire me to restart.
Hey, first of all, congratulations and welcome to the Fraternity!
As for the books:
Anatomy
General anatomy : get the bdc or vishram singh general anatomy pdf or get the book from library once you are in college and give a read to important topics and go through the terminologies. You can read general anatomy now, before you go to college or during your foundation course classes
Gross anatomy : The preferred book by students is BDC but i read vishram singh. It has very easy to remember diagrams and things are given in points, i suppose you will feel easier to understand and remember. May be, you can go to a store and see both books and decide (goes for all the books, I'll write here about my personal experience only)
Embryology : Get a langman from senior or if it is okay, buy it too. It's an international book but quite good. You don't have to go through everything but the important topics. Vishram singh embryology is also nice. I got to know about it just few days before exam but it was nice. And please don't neglect embryology. Your friends and seniors will say that it doesn't matter, it does. I suppose i could have got distinction in anatomy if only i had read embryo properly since in paper 1, i couldn't write one answer at all. (Like distinction is not everything, it's just kind of an achievement that can boost you?)
Histology : we read IB singh and mostly, our class notes.
Osteology : Again, class notes. But i guess, poddar is being followed here. I had the pdf. So, see if your college has good teacher who teaches you well, take notes of the bones and revise them. Well, vishram singh gross books also have bone sections and its quite nice.
Physiology
Guyton is the best book. If it is possible for you, get that book either from a senior or from a store. Seniors will tell you otherwise most of the time unless you are in AIIMS or the top colleges. Don't listen to them. I regret not studying standard books, they are gem. But you have to start from initial days and again, make notes of important topics. For exam purpose, you can read your notes and Sembulingam. Thats a nice book. You can keep a pdf. We used AK jain too. But in case you are reading Guyton, making notes and using Sembu, you don't need it. And get the AK jain practical book.
Biochemistry
The standard books are Lippincott and Harper. They are review books. Other than that we followed Satyanarayan or Vasudevan. Satyanarayan is better for exams i feel. Since its like a note. You can keep one of them as physical book and other as pdf. Keep whatever pdf you get actually. And as you proceed, you will get to know about more study materials like Jambulkar. That's nice note but use that as a revision tool.
In our college, for practical in biochemistry, we real our practical copies only. So, i have no idea what other colleges follow for practical
Do join telegram channels, you will get whatever pdf you need and important topics. I will suggest you to read every topic but make notes or proper annotation of important topics and of course, revision of them.
