I like the idea of Otto having some very small, very silly tattoo he got in college when drunk one night. It's shitty, and he never got another, but it was either a heart on his arm with 'mom' (Ignoring it's not there in the movie), or a simple diagram of... I don't know, an atom? just some silly science concept

Possibly controversial, however: Harding. Either he has a simple tattoo on his inner wrist that states his blood type and i kind of like the idea he's allergic to something used in the medical field but not common. but just a simple informational tattoo in case he's in an accident

Andres. Senna's name on his heart. She doesn't know about it either, bc there'd be no reason for her to. I also kind of like the idea of something like this or this on his calf or inner arm, that he got as a reward for a team one year.

George Garea. I think he got something as a way to feel young before he and Ben got married, or they went and got some silly little lavender or pansy tattoo that matched and he'd look at it when he missed Ben.

I was wondering if this can count as csa? It doesn't always feel like it was bad enough? When I was 11(? Honestly don't remember exactly the age) I woke up because my brother's friend (he was something like 19-20) was in mine and my sister's bed laying next to me and he was watching me and asked if I wanted to watch TV with him so I said sure and so we watched TV on the couch for awhile and he pulled me on him and took my hand and had me touch him and I don't really remember anything else I'm not sure why it cuts off there but that's all i remember. Another time he said he wanted to teach me how to kiss so he took me in one room and kissed me but that's not like sexual in nature? He took pictures of me too but I don't remember what happened with them I just feel a lot of shame and disgust around myself because I guess I just let him do it and didn't stop him or say anything I just shut down and I don't even remember a significant amount of it so it couldn't have rlly been a big deal it feels like? I thought I remembered more events but I can't bring them to mind no matter how much I try thinking about it and remembering so maybe I just made them up?

I'm so sorry about what you've been through. You're not alone. Please know that making you touch him can count as CSA. While him "teaching" you how to kiss may not have been sexual, it's still unusual. If the photos he took of you were sexual, this could not only count as CSA, but NCCSA as well.

It's natural as a survivor to have feelings of shame and guilt directed towards yourself. But it's important to recognize that you did nothing wrong, and even if you "let him do it", that doesn't mean that what he did was okay. It's also essential to consider that you were a child, which means that your prefrontal cortex wasn't fully developed. This can sometimes make it harder to comprehend the gravity of the situation or do what you may have seen as the right thing, looking back now. Please remember that you did what you felt was best to survive in that moment.

It's also very common for abuse to trigger survival mode, which can cause survivors to freeze up or shut down. My college therapist shared with me this diagram, which explains the different states of (nonsexual) arousal as part of the polyvagal theory. Please remember that even if you went into freeze mode, you still didn't deserve what happened to you.

It's also natural for trauma survivors to experience repression, which is when our psyche compartmentalizes and hides certain memories that are deemed too intense or overwhelming to recall. It's possible that your inability to remember certain aspects of your experience could be explained by repression. Please know that you're not alone in feeling like you may be making it up, especially when your memories are fuzzy or otherwise unclear.

That being said, it's important for the sake of your mental health to avoid looking for memories that are actively being repressed. Prematurely retrieving repressed memories, especially without the mediation of a mental health professional such as a therapist, can jeopardize your sanity. Repression acts as an airbag between our mental health and trauma. In time, the repression may diminish and your memories may resurface when they're ready to be explored.

If you can access or afford it, a mental health professional such as a therapist can help you process your experiences, the feelings surrounding it, help you come up with some effective coping strategies, and guide you along your healing journey.

i rlly heavily associate yura ( from pafl ) with one of my qpp’s, and obviously i’m kt. that makes me think about the parts in both parties are for losers and kt’s official guide to coolness, where they share a bonding moment in that dinky restroom.

this is a long post about yura and why i love him so read at your own risk LOL

in parties are for losers, it’s yura leaning on kt for support, with kt holding him and comforting him as he tells her he doesn’t know if he’s lying or if he’s living a lie, to which kt tells him that the future is his to mold into whatever he pleases. he isn’t even sure if that’s something kt herself believes, but he believes her anyways. even though he’s the much older one, he ends up having to rely on her for support.

in kt’s official guide to coolness, it’s yura confronting kt about how she’s a monster ( literally, she’s a mutant on the run and it’s evident by the scars all over her arms ). but instead of calling her out for it, he tells her that maybe if they try talking to sanya’s brother, he’ll help them out. and just as kt believes him, yura asks her, “how bad is it?” to which kt brushes him off. but yura knows she’s just playing cool. she doesn’t want to talk about it, and yura doesn’t force her to. she apologizes

idk where i was going with this just that kt played such a big part in yura’s character development and we literally only got a couple scenes of her and yura together because they literally only spent like 2 weeks together but the fact that yura refuses to leave kt for dead in the zone the same way she didn’t leave him in that restroom when he needed someone to rely on just idk it hits diff yura’s come so far even if he’s made mistakes

like he knows he failed kt in that restroom. maybe he should have pushed harder, maybe he could have done something different, but now he’s going to stop at nothing until she’s safe and back with him. he wants to be the older brother to him that he probably couldn’t have been to anya because of their home life, and even in occam’s razor he’s shown trying to talk to her more ( even if it’s just to get info about dmitry )

at the beginning of the series he was just a troubled youth who loved partying and who thought he was just gonna waste away in some shitty town. but my favorite line at the end of occam’s razor is this particular troubled youth on the diagram, found his footing in saying “i need, therefore i am.” end quote. he knows no one else can save kt but him. he knows the only person that can makes things right is him. so he became what he needed to be- maybe not a hero, but a good, responsible person.

anyways tl;dr i love yura and i love pafl and i will wait however long it takes for ferry to drop the next pafl song because holy crap this series is so good

we watched 2 whole more eps but we’re abt to vacay so i better recap this biz now before i forget

ok so we finished the zoldyck arc and uhhhh gotta say we werent expecting like any of that to happen lol 

ok ill back up so we start w/killuas mom (i dont think we ever heard her name) confronting gon & co....and canary (i lov her) is not dead which i assumed but thank goodness. 

zoldyck mom was totally using nen. also she is off her rocker gotta say. tho that visor is super cool, albeit confusing - is it connected to a bunch of security cameras or something? how does she see all that shit? 

granpa is wild. his tunic thing that says ‘one kill a day’ or w/e is kinda hilarious, it reminds me of the ‘apple a day keeps the dr away’ saying...a murder a day keeps the....idk away????

i love that killua makes it abundantly clear that he couldve like escaped at any time lol. also tho why didnt he just escape....baby boy just leave 

killua getting all serious and threatening milluki if he messes with gon....my boys got it BAD

like....it was all over the place for me...first of all the ambiance was wack, the room lighting was weird and im p sure killuas seat was an electric chair??? and the dad was in a coffin thing..???? like....interesting aesthetic choices all over the place here 

also i see now where killua got his hair and also his catboy tendencies. the zoldyck catboy genes seem to trace back to zoldyck dad, who has kinda scary cat eyes 

also im guessing that the dad is the blood zoldyck and the mom is the one who married in. they sure seem to put a lot of emphasis on like, family legacy or w/e, but the two parents certainty go abt it in different ways 

the whole convo b/w killua and his dad was wild, it totally didnt go where i was expecting it to. his dad was weirdly chill while also being super intense? 

killua happily telling stories abt gon was so sweet....baby boy baby 

and his dad telling him ‘never betray your friends’ was rlly interesting...i wonder what his reasons were for saying that 

cause then he tells killua he can leave, and killua does, but then dad zoldyck tells mom zoldyck (i rlly need to find out their names) that he thinks killua will come back on his own time....inch resting 

i wonder if dad zoldyck made killua promise that bc he was trying to set killua up for failure - as in, he tells killua to never betray his friends, thinking that killua inevitably will & be distraught abt it, and then turn back to the zoldyck family when this happens. idk

also its interesting to me that zoldyck dad wants killua to lead the family someday. like, illumi is right there, hes the oldest and clearly dedicated to being an evil assassin, and he seems p good at it...i wonder why killua is the favorite....the grandpa (i think) did say that killua is Special(tm) which...yes he is a special baby boy i love him. i wanna see more zoldyck family flashbacks/interactions so we can see what led them to this point 

oh lord that reminds me of illumi briefly appearing in the killua flashback and hes just like, suddenly there, wearing some gay ass sweater....like ok dude did you just come back from the Evil Assassin Library or st?????

tangent but god its so funny seeing all these butler guys deferring to killua, an actual 12 yr old....i wanna see the hilarious and hijink-filled results of killua being raised as a rich spoiled assassin prince. thats a lethal combo thats gotta result in some wildly skewed perceptions on how things work, especially paired with gon ‘probably eats dirt for fun and sleeps in trees’ freecess

i doubt this is the last weve seen of the zoldyck family. i mean we havent even met 3 of them, and we barely saw the ones we did meet...idk when theyll come back but i suspect theyll be making some big money moves later on and fucking shit up somehow 

i think maybe illumi or someone will like, spy on killua sometimes to keep track of him. or theyll track him by other means

ill use the prediction corner to reflect on incorrect predictions so heres a few. i rlly thot killua was gonna be more edgy than he is but hes rlly just a good boy huh. like hes a gay baby assassin catboy but hes so cute and good too. he just wants to live his life and hang out with his tiny bf like... omg :’) 

also i thot hisoka held a totally different narrative role lbvahkfjhjjaksfl i thot he was like main villain guy....hes more like an annoying creepy clown dude who (probably) shows up a lot to bother the main cast. we’ll see, but thats what i think of him now

like i thought hisoka would be like p1 dio, where hed be/quickly become a powerful antagonist who would amass a bunch of followers/minions (when actually the only person he seems to hang out w/is illumi, and theyre more like equals than an evil guy/minion dynamic)...or like i thought hisoka would be very well known as a scary evil guy but nope he was just another participant in the hunter exam, albeit a weird freaky one whose rancid vibes everyone seemed to pick up on 

anyways actual predictions, i think hisoka is gonna be at heavens arena, which would be super funny. gon is like im gonna train to beat hisoka and he shows up to do that and hisokas just there like >;) hey

i think if i had to guess, the zoldycks will show up again (in a plot important way) at the end of the yorknew arc/before the greed island arc. i know basically nothing abt any of the arcs but i do know the order they go in so theres that

i do think illumi will show up earlier than the other zoldycks tho, since he seems to be out doing his own thing more than the rest. also we still really havent resolved the whole mind control thing that im still convinced of 

i think nen will finally be introduced/alluded to heavily in this arc...or like, characters will use nen and gon will be like whoa whats that 

i think killua knows what nen is...maybe? it would make sense since im sure all the zoldycks can use it (at least, we saw mom zoldyck use it, probably)

when i was in high school i never ever typed any notes. handwriting is super good cause it helps u remember better what ur writing, and it’s easier to adapt to what u need ur notes to look like. but then i started university and i had to summarize everything that happened in my country from 1860 to 2000 and i was like no, fuck it, i ain’t writing all that bc a) i wouldn’t have time and b) my hand would probably fall off. so typing it saved my life and i learned some stuff and i have a few tips so u can make the most out of ur typed notes!

is it convenient to type?

things u need to think abt:

the context where u’ll be doing it, e.g. in class sometimes it’s actually faster to handwrite if the class is disorganized so u can draw arrows, connect stuff on different parts of the page, make margin notes, etc, but sometimes the teacher speaks really fast and u don’t have time to jot everything down so it’s better to type. if u have time to write down most of the important things i recommend to handwrite. if ur in ur house or library both methods work the same; if ur in a coffee shop or sth probably best to type cause it takes up less space

how much time until u have to study them, if you’re making summaries/guides. if u got lazy and left it to the last moment (happens to the best of us), u’ll be better off typing. ifffff u have the time and ur willing to maybe it’s best to handwrite them bc it helps w memorizing

the subject and what’s gonna be important for the exam, so u know how it’s better to study. when i make summaries and study guides i always mix my class notes and book or other material i have. before u start writing them, go over both and try to think what u want ur notes to look like, if it’s gonna be important for them to be visual, have lots of arrows (in that case, better to handwrite, but it can be done in a laptop, although it may end up taking u more time in the end), or if they’re gonna be lots of bullet points and outlines, charts, diagrams (it’s easier to type these)

this is just a pro of typing over handwriting: u’ll be able to go back and modify/add/delete stuff. so if ur gonna be making study guides super in advance and in class the teacher goes back to topics u already included, u can add more info all the time without ur notes looking like a clutter of post it notes and covered in margin notes

tips and tricks

use shortcuts and make ur own shortcuts to replace regular symbols with symbols u don’t have in ur keyboard per se. u may need a little poking around whichever app ur using, or u can add them to the keyboard “replace” feature. for example, for mine i made -> turn into ⇾, >> into ↳, ^^^ into ↓ (u can tell i use lots of arrows). don’t be afraid to experiment and look through the symbols in ur laptop to see what u’ll find useful!

lots of abbreviations, and this applies to handwritten notes also. i have this bad habit, though, of cutting short long words and then not remembering the conjugation and getting confused when i revise them, so be careful with that (for example, in sociology i used “intern.” for “internalization”, “internalize”, “internalizing” and then regretted it)

if u want ur notes to have colour but don’t wanna waste colour ink from ur printer, u can use highlighters or leave blank spaces to write titles and subtitles with a coloured pen when u print them. but don’t actually leave it blank; write the word in white so u’ll remember what u were supposed to write later. take into account that of course ur handwriting won’t be the same size as the font. this applies if u want cute calligraphy titles, banners, drawings, etc. u can decorate ur notes as much as u want when u print them!

make good use of fonts but don’t overdo it, have a main font for the body and maybe a different one for titles/subtitles if u want

have a system where u use bold, italics and underlined for different things (terms, examples, important definitions, dates, whatever)

be creative in the use of space! use shapes, charts, the diagram function of ur app, anything ur comfortable using and that’s gonna be useful (don’t put in diagrams just bc they look cool if the info in it isn’t really important). but, again, don’t overdo it cause it may end up taking u more time than it’s really worth it

this is gonna sound super millenial, but sometimes emojis r useful in notes (i know i know) to make them more visual. like u can replace a word with its emoji (hand, person, tree, idk), use it on the side to symbolize what ur talking about (i used a bomb next to a part where i was writing sth about WWII), etc. don’t judge me for this please

use an app to block websites and other apps that distract you because that’s the downside of writing on ur laptop: ur laptop is right there. i’ll list some apps on the next part

software + apps

google drive: i’m in love with this. v useful if ur gonna be writing from different devices without downloading anything. also it’s cool that u can download and easily use lots of font. buuuut it doesn’t have many functions. make sure to enable offline mode because otherwise anytime ur wifi acts up it won’t let u edit

evernote: again lets u sync ur notes in many devices but u need to download the app in all of them. personally i prefer google drive but that’s bc i never rlly tried to get used to this one, many people seem to rlly love it

ur laptop’s default text editor: usually microsoft word for windows, pages for mac. i used pages for my history and sociology notes because i knew i was gonna do everything in my own laptop and found it super useful. it’s rlly easy to make charts, shapes, diagrams, and it’s super simple in a good way. i vouch for microsoft word as well, it has a lot more functions but at the same time it can get more complicated.

this isn’t for note-taking but i find it super useful and i urge u to download it if ur gonna be using ur laptop to write notes: f.lux changes the colour of ur computer display to be warm during night or when u don’t have light so u don’t strain ur eyes looking at the blue glow of the screen. it’s explained better in the website. it’s been a total lifesaver and has changed my life tbh

hey sorry to bother you but i was just wondering if you have any advice for someone who wants to start writing fic? anything like resources & software you use or tips for being motivated would be rlly helpful,, thanks!!

advice for starting fic ,,, let’s see here. i think the first thing to do is read around, and see what you like (and don’t like), and then write what /you/ want to see. personally, for droplets, i picked a very particular genre because i hadn’t seen it done before in the fandom (we had a lot of great college aus in the fandom at the time, but nothing slice-of-life set outside of school, so), but i don’t recommend writing something based around appealing to an audience. i don’t do that anymore, and it’s enabled my writing to become a lot freer, authentic, and more personal. so, step one: write what you want to read! and write for yourself! practice some good self-appeasement lol

other hot tips ,,, 

- editing happens later. it’s tempting to edit as you write, but honestly just try to whack out as many words as you can, when you can, because the motivation train is highly elusive in my experience. it doesn’t matter how raw and typo-ridden and full-of-holes that first draft is … it doesn’t matter. you just want to get that skeleton down on the page, that’s the fundamental hurdle

- don’t be too harsh on yourself! some people will be able to churn out fics like butter, and honestly good for them, but it’s ok if you can only manage a few fics in a year. write at your own pace, edit at your own pace, make piece with the fact some fic authors are fucking wizards or something idek. don’t worry if you need to take breaks and hiatuses or hit walls ,,, just go do something else and come back to a project later

- practice good fic etiquette … kudos and comment and reblog all the fics that you consume yourself. hopefully it’ll encourage people to do the same for you, because god knows acquiring feedback is like beating blood from a stone at times. don’t go in expecting it to be easy, because honestly it’s 99% good luck (1% clever marketing) to get a big audience. but you’ll always have /an audience/ and make sure to appreciate them lots and lots!

- planning is useful, but sometimes just flying straight into writing a fic works really well. i’ve done both. droplets is meticulously planned out, and that’s important for fics with heavy symbolism and nuance and literary devices, for fics that you want to be complex. but recently i wrote a malec sense8 fusion fic with absolutely no pre-planning, and that turned out really fresh and was very well-received by the fandom, so ??? figure out how much of you needs to be an architect, and how much needs to be a gardener. it’s likely you’ll be a mix of both, and that’s good.

- in terms of my drafting process, for droplets i have a lot of crumpled pieces of paper with spider diagrams for each chapter, which i then usually convert into a shorthand draft (5 - 20 pages handwritten) of chapter events in a chronological order, which then converts into a typed up first draft (1 page of handwritten notes usually converts anywhere between 500 - 4000 words depending on how brief i was being in my plan). then i do a full edit on the draft to get my second draft … so this is changing word choices, rephrasing sentences, playing with nuance and meaning and sound and rhythm, fixing the story elements, adding and removing scenes. then is the technical edit, which is where i typo hunt (i’m very bad at this), which leaves me with my third draft, which then undergoes a format edit, ready for publication :~) on a good day, i can whack out 1.5k words in an hour (those are rare), and it’s my editing process that dragss (a 20k droplets chapter will take, at minimum, 20 hours to edit)

- for motivation, the most useful thing is reading widely, and not just straight forward prose. i mean sure, read books, and read a lot of fic too, but always read stuff more lyrically minded, such as songs or poetry or verse. poetry is my personal #1 source of motivation. i also am immensely inspired by movies, so if i’m having a duff day, usually watching a good film will get me buzzing to write! finally, taking time away from writing is great for motivation … breaks are important, and you need to take time to refresh and rejuvenate between manic writing sessions. meditation works well for me, especially in terms of figuring out writing blocks or jumbled ideas i might have 

- i’m a Basic Bitch when it comes to tools i use ,,, i open up a google doc, write a sentence, then go play pokemon for 40 hours and forget i’m trying to write a new draft lol

- that being said, my good pal lars has recommended something called writeordie to me many times, which is a programme that encourages you to write or face consequences (which can range from annoying noises to no internet access to actually deleting your work if you don’t write fast enough lol). i also recommend using nanowrimo as a good starting point for writing big projects, although i’ve never actually successfully completed that either ,,,
