Me when the anime has the average protagonist and the popular love interest, the beach episode, the holiday episode, the school trip, the summer festival, sports carnival, swimming episode, eccentric best friends, the one character who's english VA is in another anime and that's all you can hear them as, the dramatic/traumatic backstory, the sibling/parent rivalry, and the fandom isn't problematic and doesn't argue about "characters interfering with ships".

Wonder if you would like the raven cycle books ..... Friends that are all a little in love with each other and that being a major point throughout all of the story to the point that the author said that them stopping being friends was genuinely the worst thing that could happen to them. Also you seem like the type to absolutely eat up the Blue and Gansey dynamic
Funny you mention that

guys. it took me two days to finally catch up and HOLY SHIT
WHAT A WILD ASS EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER
for the first 20 or so chapters i was living my best life thinking that through all the strife, the troubles, the tribulations scarian would stick strong
THEN BOOM
BIG B APPEARS AND I NEAR LOST MY DAMN MIND-
literally cannot wait to see where this goes, i know i joined the bandwagon near the end but know that 1) i was absolutely thriving when karlnapity appeared (i. i miss them so much) and 2) yall were not lying about this being a journey of scarian realizing polyamory existed as ksq, clethubs, and pops and his partners popped up BAHAHA
genuinely though this fic is absolutely amazing, an angsty-fun mix of sugar, spice, and everything nice as scarian tries to navigate the end of the world and i cant see where it goes next uwu <3
INDIE!!!! WE'RE SO GLAD YOU READ TAMN!!!!!! WELCOME WELCOME!!
I think you, more than anyone, were our target audience for the KSQ arc šŸ’œšŸ’™šŸ§” Getting to spend time with them again, and then hope they're off to better things the second they leave Scarian behind :')
BUT ALSO: YA LMAO, when you take out all the zombies and angst, TAMN is 300k of Grian and Scar going "damn, every single of version of poly is Not For Us." They systematically go through every permutation just to end up at "unfortunately, this would not fix us." (Scar may have two hands, but Grian is the ultimate Handful....)
Seriously tho, SO glad you're enjoying the fic, Indie!!!! The best part about getting into TAMN this far in, is that at this point it can't possibly get worse ;) šŸ”’

I just started rewatching Legends of Tomorrow. Iā€™ve never actually finished the show (I fell behind in early season 6 and just never caught up), and so much time has passed that I decided to start from the beginning. Iā€™m only in early season 2, but thereā€™s so much I had forgotten. I had always remembered season 1 as being the weakest seasons of the ones Iā€™ve watched, and somewhere along the way, my brain had equated ā€œweakestā€ to ā€œnot goodā€ but it really is a good season, I just think the other seasons are better once they really embraced the ridiculous (I cannot wait to reach the Beebo or puppet episodes). Anyway, Iā€™m really glad I decided to start a rewatch since I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it, and fingers cross that I donā€™t get distracted before I actually finish it.
oh man you're in such a treat when you get to season 7!! its definitly worth getting to s7 and when u do pls return and give me ur Thoughts
and yh exactly, i don't think legends was a bad show, it was just a show that got better once it found it's groove. especially as, at the time, it's sort of coming out of an arrow and the flash shaped gap and needed to find its footing. u cant go straight from brooding and dark on arrow to giant beebos yknow lol

What do you think Mineā€™s reaction to Masato / Aoki be like?
tbh they'd probably be. amicable. at the very least.
#snap chats#like they have similar values its just that mine's more openly depressed about his belief system and doesn't take pride in it like aoki#i talked about this before omg thats so funny... but yeah no aoki's more proud of 'how the world is'. prob cause he's 'on top' of it#mine begrudges the fact he needs material goods to be useful to people#meanwhile aoki's happy to exploit others if it means he advances. for the most part anyway#he only really starts to show some regret when confronted by ichi. and get the shit kicked out of him for twenty minutes#wait i was rewatching the cutscene and started to throw up cause i got reminded of me in high school again aoki you're 42 stop this#Back On Track Though. mine and aoki had similar pursuits: attain power to be loved thats the core of it in simple terms#they went about it differently ofc: for mine money was power and for aoki popularity was power. Both Very True TBH but anyway#mine realized that even with money his person wasnt valued#and aoki realized that even with recognition people didn't value his character. sins the arakawas. fcukin dummy#i mean aokis a jackass so no wonder but thats not the point of this. fuckfest of tags#they wouldnt be friends. aoki's incapable of friendship and mine would probably quickly recognize aoki as being power hungry#i think mine's been in enough business meetings And Knows Enough About Politics to recognize Professional Fakerism when he sees it#actually do you think mine'd be swindled by any 'kindness' aoki expressed like when kanda left him and he thought he just went to get help.#that shit was wack LMAO BUT REGARDLESS idk i have to go to class soon so im not gonna spend too much time thinking of this#if they needed to they'd just use each other for whatever purpose they needed the other for. idk why mine would need aoki tho#TLDR mine probably wouldnt think too differently of aoki compared to any other power-hungry freak#we can revisit this topic when. im not learning about JP history vjERJALKJ

for sleepover ask šŸ’Œ :
historical!au + bookstore!au
obi-wan (mullet!wan) is a quiet (but sometimes bitchy) bookstore owner. period piece. could be ye olde bookstore in medieval times, a bookstore next door to a saloon/brothel in the wild west, etc.
Tumblr media
Come Celebrate with Me!
6. Bookshop AU 1. Historical AU (Wild West)
Bookshop Owner!Obi Wan x Teacher!Reader
You were still rather new to the small town when you'd entered the small bookstore looking for materials that'd be good for your newly acquired teaching position. Upon entering the store itself gave off a first impression of being heavily disorganized and all over the place, but with closer inspection you'd noticed it was rather neatly organized just in the owner's own self appointed system.Ā
It was as you trailed your finger along several titles stopping to gently pull out a weathered copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, that you'd noticed a brush of movement, silent in every way but to the eye. Just barely seen over the top of a neighboring shelf, you'd spotted a person puzzling over the books in front of them, or at least it seemed that way with what little you could see of flickering eyes that seemed bluer than the sky outside and furrowed brows. You hadn't meant to watch the person, but each time you'd tried to pull your eyes away, back to the shelf in front of you, you'd found them drifting back to glance at those clear blue eyes. After the third time this happened, you felt an embarrassed frustrated flush heat the tips of your ears as you made yet another attempt to page through the copy in your hands, only managing to leaf through a few more pages before finding your eyes trailing upwards once more, only now your eyes met the clear blue as they'd finally noticed your own quiet movement.Ā
Fully embarrassed now, you watched with a bit of alarm as the person moved in your direction, the clear blue of their eyes now shining with curiosity. In only a few seconds he'd made his way to where you stood clutching Frankenstein to your chest like a lifeline once you got a full view of the man.
Clean. That was your first impression of him. His hair sweated back behind his ears and fell in soft waves to the very top of his shoulders. Shoulders of which you couldn't stop your brain from making an appreciative note were broad with strong looking arms and a full chest connected. He wore just a simple loose cream button down and brown trousers with a set of similarly colored suspenders, of which didn't seem to be doing much as they hung loosely around his waist, and what a waist it was.
Thoughts leading nowhere good, you startled and snapped out of your revelry, dragging your eyes up to meet his again, only pausing once to take in the pin secured to the not of his loose blue neckerchief, small and weathered bronze, obviously old and loved it was circular and printed with what looked like a set of wings with a star connecting both sides in the middle, it was quite beautiful in a plain sort of way.Ā
Once your eyes met again, you found a soft smile and crinkled eyes to greet you along with a just as softly accented, "Hello there."
Still embarrassed at your gawking, you cleared your throat and answered with your own soft, "Good afternoon."
The man unphased, and seemingly endlessly curious leaned forward, smile somewhat mischievous now, said, "I truly hope its not too forward, but I've never had the grace of seeing you around before, let alone in my shop, may I ask for your name?"
Stuttering out your name, you felt the heat return, but more as a simmering in your chest as you heard the man speak more, his accent a perfect compliment to the rest of his perfectly imperfect-ness. But the man, completely oblivious to your quiet replies, only smiles wider at you and bids you welcome to his shop once more as he introduced himself to you before asking, "And what brings such a fresh face to this part of the world?"
"Oh, I've, uh, I've been hired on to be the town's school teacher. I haven't come with too much and the books at the school building seemed a little worse for wear, so I'd thought I may come refresh the shelves, so to speak."
Brightening even more- you were almost certain he was partially made of pure light at this point, scared if he got any brighter you would no longer be able to look at him, and what a shame that would be- he pointed to the book still clutched in your hands.
"And a wonderful start to your new collection if I might say. A quite many lessons you can squeeze out of my dear friend Ms. Shelley for any age group, I believe," pausing he clasps his hands behind his back, getting a bit of afar off look to his eyes, one that lead you to believe he was deep in thought, before humming and asking, "Do you have any more books in mind you want specifically, because I'd be more than happy to help find anything as well as make any of my own suggestions."
At his offer you felt a bit of relief, and nodded just slightly, "I more so just came in to browse, shocked a store like your own would be in such a small town, but any and all help would be much appreciated Mr. Kenobi."
"Please, no need for formalities, they make me feel stiff and always seem too polite, just Obi Wan is fine. Well as long as you are comfortable with that, my dear."Ā
With his words, the never ending flush of heat returned once more, as you just nodded a but speechless following the pet names and in his earnest gaze.
After that he led you around the shop offering several more books as he told you a bit about the town and the people, but especially focusing on the children. He'd explained that he'd been holding a story hour for the younger of the town for the last few months and was quite overjoyed that the younglings, as he liked to refer to them as, were finally going to be receiving a proper education.
You truly hadn't meant to spend more than just a few minutes in the bookshop, and possibly only grab two or three books, but you'd noticed that as you'd stepped out of the building after nearly fight with Mr. Ken-, Obi Wan, over whether you were paying for the books or not- he'd eventually won out in just giving you the books, but was unaware of the pennies you'd dropped onto the table quietly by the door as you'd walked out- you'd noticed the midday sun had dipped down as the gold and red hues of sunset started to take over.
As you headed to the small home next to the school house, you felt a nagging sensation at the back of your head, and in turning, you found Obi Wan standing outside his door watching you walk away. Still close enough, you could see his lips turn up once more into a smile as he lifted his hand in a wave, which you returned both, before turning away once more.
The last thing you thought as you'd turned away was how his hair wasn't the sand blonde you'd thought it was in the low light of his shop, but in fact had a coppery hue which formed a glowing hole around him in the dying light of day.Ā

Every time with PPPPPP I keep thinking "am I reading too much into this" (-> probably -> who knows! -> no way to confirm now!). Today, I'm really impressed with how much the volume extras of volume 7 & 8 pack a punch despite them being really really simple. So I'm going to read (too much) into it again x_x
Volume 7 covers the end of the 4v4 piano battle, Chocho's death and its direct aftermath (ch 53 - 61).
After each chapter there's an extra page that's blank save for a stave with a single note like this, similar to the rings the sextuplets wear/wore:
Tumblr media
(excuse the crappy phone quality, this twitter thread by @/ppppppupdates has the extras from all the volumes pulled from the digital versions which are much clearer. I've linked to a few of them here and there).
The first note is C (Do) and the note moves up the C major scale with each chapter. To me, this came off as "very ominous countdown". You reach the end of the chapter, turn a page and BAM, the note's crept up again. It took me out of it for a second while still building suspense and still maintaining the flow of the story. The last note is B (ti/shi). This happens after chapter 59, which is when Chocho dies. So the scale was counting down (ok, up) to Chocho's death, where the chapter ends on a "pi-----"/"beeeeep" sound effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know the fact that the scale doesn't end on C probably has more to do with there only being 7 siblings + only 7 chapters preceding this moment, but I also like how the scale remains unfinished. Since the last note (B/ti) is the very unstable 7th degree in the scale my brain automatically wants the melody to resolve to C but it's cut short like Chocho's life is
(There are still two chapters in the volume after that but the extras are more like the previous volumes: Most of it is Sadame-centric, like the cover (little graphs depicting his ability, the acknowledgment page is a warped version of the electronics shop where Sadame and Meloli and the inside back cover is of Meloli and Sadame). Also, there's a conductor's baton for Furusu and the results of the popularity contest)
Volume 8 already immediately sucker punched me by having no one on this page. Then, in a break from the small drawings between chapters from previous volumes, each of those pages has a full-page portait of each sibling, starting with Reijiro, Mimin, Fanta (all smiling), then Sorachika, Don and Shikato and finally, after the final chapter-- a smiling Brilliant (?) Lucky dressed in the clothes he's wearing on the cover of volume 8.
The final extra pages are small items representing members of the Otogami family
Tumblr media
Rejiro and Mimin
Fanta + the three pairs of polyhedron earrings might refer to Sorachika, on an Shitako?
Sorachika (scarf), Shikato (apple) and Don (score)
Gakuon, though I think it also could be referring to Brilliant Lucky as he's also associated with the necklace and his portrait has him wearing it while Gakuon/Sorachika(?)'s hand reaches for it
Lastly, there's a melancholic acknowledgments page (a room almost completely empty except for a piano) and the back inside cover (depicting the end of a measure, quite a definitive "the end" imo)
Interestingly, none of the extras depict or refer to Mediocre Lucky (unless the final portrait is what would have been Lucky's final form after, idk, he and Brilliant Lucky accept each other). Maybe this is fitting because his only appearances in volume 8 are 1) passed out in the cemetery in chapter 64 and 2) in that rigid, almost caricature-like form in chapter 70 where he's banished to the darkness by Brilliant Lucky.
All in all I think these extras make the volume end on an even sadder note than chapter 70 did on its own. A lot of them just remind me of stuff that we won't get to see: A happy Brilliant Lucky never appears in the actual story-- the story ends with Brilliant Lucky lashing out in anger and rejecting Mediocre Lucky. And if that final portait is (Mediocre) Lucky himself, then it's also a version of Lucky that we never got to see-- Lucky didn't get this good ending. Even the personal items on the extra pages are split between "siblings Lucky has saved" and "siblings Lucky has not saved" (& Fanta): Arcs that we got vs. arcs that we never will get.

Vaughan unfolded for me all his obsessions with the mysterious eroticism of wounds: the perverse logic of blood-soaked instrument panels, seat-belts smeared with excrement, sun-visors lined with brain tissue. For Vaughan each crashed car set off a tremor of excitement, in the complex geometries of a dented fender, in the unexpected variations of crushed radiator grilles, in the grotesque overhang of an instrument panel forced on to a driver's crotch as if in some calibrated act of machine fellatio. The intimate time and space of a single human being had been fossilized for ever in this web of chromium knives and frosted glass
