some may wonder "why is désiré man version named marie-renée and not jeanne-désirée or something" well first of all you clearly did not pay attention to my other genderbends... unbelievable... and second of all the format of jean-désiré is boring first half, slightly more interesting and theme-related/ironic second half (what with désiré meaning desired, which she most certainly isn't but wants to be); marie-renée is the same format (what with renée meaning reborn, although that's a little less ironic and a little more true than désiré is)

You just said you don't write a lot about young reader because it's hard to find content to write about, but now i just can't stop thinking about little reader and Ned being around each other ahhhhđđ mimi please spoil us a little, maybe a snipet? a little one-shot đââïž
Remember the reader was basically the first test for Ned at being a father to a daughter. The reader taught him how to be a girl dad. Since she wasn't there for normal duties that highborn girls would have, you were there to learn from him so you were around him for his business a lot.
But you were the complete opposite of his sons, and the complete opposite it seemed, of the Baratheons he already knew. You were small, quiet, shy, and innocent. He would actually check in on you via Robb and Jon to see how you were fitting in as someone around their age, and encourage both of them to directly involve you more because you clearly weren't comfortable with inserting yourself into their circle as a friend.
They both wanted too, but Ned really gave both of them that push because he wanted to see you do well here. He didn't know if you were coming back after this stay, but he quickly became very attached to the idea and giving you as good of a time and learning experience as possible would help that.
Ned would be such a dad when you arrive. A bright smile as he hugs you, asking how the trip was and making sure you eat and asking about what was going on with you at home. Ned would honestly greet you like he was your dad that only got to see you every other weekend after the divorce. Especially when you were young and small.
You alone essentially prepared him for Sansa and Arya, and even then, he always still treated you like one of his own. You never knew about it, but in the raven sent to him by Stannis when you were sent there at 14, it did specify to Ned that part of what the worry was, was the Lannisters using their sway with Robert to arrange a marriage for you in their favour and he needed to keep you far from such things until he could handle the situation. Which in turn, Ned knew that now you were a teenager, more Northern boys would pay attention to you and basically did the same.
Just the intimidating dad behind your back glaring at the boy trying to flirt with you in the courtyard even though you dont realize it. Of course you'd complain to him that the boy was keeping you from your duties and how annoyed you were and he'd just try not to laugh because if by then you didn't realize how much Jon and Robb did the same thing, you certainly wouldn't realize Ned was looking out for you.
The more you opened up as a girl, the more everyone certainly noticed Ned smiled a little more softly and fondly more often. It was no surprise how easily he became to be the father his daughters knew they could always go to him with anything or tell him anything, because he had great practice in gaining the trust of you, the most quiet and reserved little girl he'd ever known.
Side note, Varys in his final visit to Ned in the Black Cells informed him that Ser Barristan had helped you escape, and you made it all the way to Robb as you both now were marching to war to save his. And it was one of the last moments of relief he had down there all alone.
His last image of you was you both being dragged apart down to separate cells, and he knew if he could possibly escape execution the liklihood for you was so much less and he had as much releif knowing you escaped, as he did in his final moments looking up to see Arya was not there to see it anymore. Which is a testament to how much he saw you as his own.

Yandere Halloween Prompts Day: Day 21
Word/Theme: Drown
Yandere! Jason Voorhees
A/N: I never specify what movie this takes place in as they are quite similar. But I will say this isn't undead Jason, this is more like Part 3 Jason.
Pairing: Romantic/Platonic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Female Darling, Yandere behavior, Murder, Stalking, Implied Kidnapping, Cursing.
Choosing to be a counselor was a horrible idea. Coming willingly to work at a summer camp that had rumors behind it was also a bad idea. But your friend insisted that working with them here would pay well.
It didn't pay well. In fact, you were only payed in blood and gore. Working with the kids was fun and nice until other counselors started going missing... including your friend.
"Just stay right here, I'll lock the door." You tell the kids in a cabin. You couldn't take long as you were scared for the kids well being too. You just needed to find a phone.
Camp Crystal Lake was damp from the torrent of rain. It was dark and hard to see, your flashlight making you able to see just about in front of you. You sigh, you remember a cabin office nearby with a phone in it.
"I just need to call for help... Something clearly isn't right." You weren't going to abandon the kids to look for your friend. That seemed like a stupid idea. You'd leave just long enough to call for some sort of backup.
Eyes stared at you from between the trees. An axe held firmly in their hands, dripping in a thick liquid. You thought you felt someone staring at you so you picked up the pace.
Jason was used to protecting his home. All the counselors here usually slacked off and never paid attention to the kids, especially when he was drowned. It was miraculous he even lived.
So he dedicated his life to vengeance. His mother encouraged him on it, after all. All this killing was also out of revenge for not only the drowning, but the death of his mother.
Oddly enough, he didn't feel you deserved to be slaughtered like the rest of the counselors in this place. You've done nothing wrong in his judgment. In fact, the kids seemed to be your first priority.
Watching you was almost...therapeutic. He almost actually envied how you treated the kids. He was never treated as such when he was young....
The cabin door is gently shut by you as you look for the phone you were searching for. Your breathing is ragged and tired due to the pace you were going. You were also wet and cold, but you shook it off.
"Not important now. The kids need to be out of here." You find the white phone sitting on a counter, pacing over to it briskly you dial for the police.
While hearing the phone ring you kept one ear open to see if anyone was there. If there really was a killer then they had to be around here somewhere. Most likely near you, now.
The police finally answer and you heave a sigh.
"What's the emergency?"
"I work at Camp Crystal Lake, it seems someone came into the camp and has been murdering counselors.... I'm trying to keep the kids safe, can you send some help?"
"Right away, Ma'am... could you stay on the phone?"
"...."
"Ma'am...?"
You're coughing, slammed against the wall roughly by your throat. The phone lay dangling off the counter and torn out of your hands. You struggle roughly but this person seems to have much more strength than you.
There is silence from the person in front of you. On closer look they seem to be a man with a hockey mask on. Your eyes drift to the axe.
It's soaked in blood. You can only fixate on it and pray he wasn't going to shove it into your chest. The grip around your throat was enough to keep you up, but not enough to crush your windpipe.
"No-" You gasp. "Don't do... this...!"
No response other than staring. Then, his head slowly tilted to the side. No matter how much you kicked at him he wouldn't budge. Nothing you did pushed him back.
Then there was a large bang. The man recoiled, groaning in pain before dropping you. Standing in the doorway was your friend, shotgun in hand.
Although they were bloody, you were just happy they were alive.
"(Y/N)!" They call, beckoning to you. Without missing a beat you run over. The man behind you stumbled to get up, looking back at you and your friend.
"Let's go! I called for help." You say, your friend waving you behind them.
"One more for the road...." They mutter, firing the shotgun once more. The shot collides with the man again before you followed your friend away from the cabin.
"Are we planning on just waiting it out now?" You ask, jogging with your friend back to where the kids were kept.
"Do we have a choice? That man's fucking insane! Look what he did to me...." They grunt, gesturing to their wounds.
"I get that...I'll try patching you up. Maybe we shouldn't be too near the kids. They'll be in danger." You offer, your friend nodding slowly.
"Let's at least keep their cabin in view, then." They suggest.
The rain continued to pour. It made looking for some place to hide even harder. You had a constant fear you'd run into the man who attacked you if you took a wrong turn.
You couldn't afford that. Especially because you felt your friend was going to be targeted because of their weapon. It was best to just keep out of sight now.
Shoving yourselves into yet another cabin, you sit your friend down before blocking the door. They hiss in pain, putting the shotgun beside them. You quickly scavenge supplies around the cabin.
"Here, I'll try what I can." Using fabric you tore off from your clothes and theirs, you began trying to stop the bleeding.
"God, when will they get here!?" They groan, you frown.
"Wish I knew, too. We're sitting ducks. Those kids included." You say, glancing out the window. Luckily the lights were off. "But let's try not to worry, you got anymore shots?"
"Maybe at least one? We need to make it count if that's the case."
"Right...I'll take it then. You should rest."
Everything was silent except for the roaring rain. Your anxiety told you someone was out there but you didn't dare get trigger happy. You'd need to wait.
....
The sound of an axe slamming into the door caught you and your friend off guard. You shove them behind you before taking aim with the gun. You wouldn't go down without a fight.
"Go get something sharp..." You whisper, your friend nodding and running off.
The door was no match for the strength of the man and his axe, you keep steady.
"Don't come any closer...!"
You warn towards the man, him stopping in the doorway. His head tilted again at your offensive stance.
"Any further step and I'll blow your damn head off, you heard me!"
It was a stand off. Neither of you did anything for the longest time. That was until the man took a step and you tried to fire.
*click*
"You son of a-!"
It was as if all odds were against you, once again being lunged at. You feel your back throb when the man shoves you against the wood wall. Arms hold your body tightly against it.
You were forced to be right up against the man. Your breathing becomes heavy when you realize you can't push back. It may be better for your friend to run.
"You stay away from her, man!" Your friend calls, stabbing into the man's back with a broken piece of wood. He grunts, releasing you only to deck your friend to the floor.
"No, no! Don't pay attention to them, I'm here! Focus on me!" The man only glances at you before returning his attention to your friend.
The axe he had raised, then came down quickly onto them. It happened before your eyes. Tears streamed down your soaked face.
The man then turned his full attention to you.
"You're going to kill me...go on...it's not like I can fight you...." What did you have to lose? You can't run anymore....
Slow steps approached you, you stay up against the wall.
The axe is dropped and arms reach out to grab you. It strangely isn't a violent grab, but rather gentle.
There were still no words. Just you and the man alone in the cabin. You didn't dare move.
Jason's mother had told him that you did nothing wrong. He could see that. You were just scared and protective....
There was no need to cry....
Sirens and lights were seen in the camp, the man letting you go and picking up the axe once again.
His work wasn't over yet...and you had to witness all of it and more.

NMJ bonding with child Wangji. Maybe a few times NMJ beat little LWJ in a spar and the time he knew little Wangji would one day beat him. Mostly Pre Cloud Recesses arc?
Of Few Words - ao3
The first time Nie Mingjue met Lan Xichenâs little brother, he thought he would be just like Nie Huaisang, so he picked him up and threw him.
âMingjue-xiong,â Lan Xichen gasped, clearly horrified. âWhat are you doing?â
Probably something forbidden by the rules, Nie Mingjue thought, and shrugged.
He wasnât good with words, was too blunt and too direct, especially for the Lan sect, and so over the past couple of weeks or so that heâd been here heâd found it was easier not to speak at all. Theyâd make whatever assumptions they wanted about him, no matter what he did; it was easier to just let them do that and work with that than it was to futilely strive to get them to actually understand him.
âEven if Wangji has done something to upset you, you may only assign him to do copying,â Lan Xichen told him, and Nie Mingjue was briefly surprised that his new friend had assumed he was angry before he remembered that everyone here thought he was angry all the time, so it wasnât actually that much of a surprise. âPlease keep that in mind. Also, I donât know if Iâve said, but heâs very reserved, so please donât take offense if he just points things out...oh, I wish I wasnât needed elsewhere this afternoon! Iâd much rather show you around myself, but as it is, heâll be showing you around this part of the Cloud Recesses in my place.â
Nie Mingjue grunted assent, and watched, a little desolately, as Lan Xichen disappeared down the still confusing twists and turns of the paths of the Cloud Recesses. It was all gardens here, carefully tended to maximize graceful tranquility, and he was sure he would have no chance of ever finding his way back on his own if left to it.
It wouldnât surprise him in the slightest if he was. The other Lan disciples hadnât really taken to him the way Lan Xichen had, much less a younger brother that the (rather reserved, by Nie Mingjueâs standards) Lan Xichen had described as reservedâŠ
Unexpectedly, a small hand slipped into his own, and he looked down in surprise.
Lan Wangji looked up at him, his cheeks flushed a little red.
Nie Mingjue instinctively smiled at him, charmed by the reminder of Nie Huaisang, then remembered that too much exuberance seemed to only disturb the Lan sect and struggled to get his expression under control. He expected him to start leading him around the Cloud Recesses without another word â he had overheard Lan Qiren telling his father that Lan Wangji wasnât much of a talker, very quiet, and to not expect much interaction with him â but to his surprise Lan Wangji did not move, looking at up at him thoughtfully, lips pursed as if he was considering saying something.
Nie Mingjue waited for his judgment.
âYou werenât angry,â Lan Wangji finally said. âWhen you threw me.â
Nie Mingjue blinked.
âNo,â he admitted, breaking his own informal vow of silence. âI wasnât. I thought you might enjoy it.â
Nie Huaisang loved being tossed around, whether up into the air or into bushes, headfirst shrieking into his bed or ass-first into a pool of water; heâd thought tossing little brothers around was what big brothers were there for. Sure, there was a small age gap â Lan Wangji was six, Nie Huaisang still not quite five â but he hadnât thought it would make such a difference.
Lan Wangji hummed thoughtfully. He did not speak for another long while, but Nie Mingjue was starting to think that that was just him chewing over his thoughts before forming them into words.
At last, he spoke again: âI did.â
Nothing afterwards. Hesitantly, Nie Mingjue asked, âWould you like me to do it again?â
Lan Wangji nodded.
This time, Nie Mingjue was a little more cautious: he threw Lan Wangji up into the air and caught him, trying to demonstrate that he knew what he was doing, that he could be trusted, and by the third or fourth time Lan Wangji was smiling. It wasnât quite on part with Nie Huaisangâs giggles and shrieks, but felt rewarding nevertheless.
Satisfied by his success, Nie Mingjue was about to put him down on the ground, but hesitated. âDo you want to ride on my shoulders?â he asked, and waited as Lan Wangji considered it.
âAnother time,â Lan Wangji decided. âNot today.â
Nie Mingjue nodded and put him down. Lan Wangji took his hand once again and, this time, led him around the way heâd expected from the start, pointing out various places and naming them in a quiet murmur.
Lan Wangji really wasnât much of a talker, a person of few words, but that was fine. So was Nie Mingjue.
-
It was a few days later that he came across Lan Wangji kneeling beside the training grounds and impulsively challenged him. He was getting bored of training alone: Lan Xichen was busy again, and the other Lan disciples had already made clear that they didnât want to have anything to do with him, the interloper whoâd pushed his way into their lessons by force.
It wasnât actually like that at all â his father had sent Nie Mingjue to learn here for the season as a gesture of goodwill, wanting to support Lan Qirenâs lecture series and make it clear that other sects should follow suit, to encourage Lan Qirenâs goal of eventually creating a safe haven for all the Great Sectâs heirs to come together and learn and build friendships while still in their youth â but Nie Mingjue knew that there was no convincing any of his wary Lan sect peers of that. Even if there was, he certainly couldnât do it, not with his clumsy tongue and scowling face and too-tall height that made everyone immediately assume he would resort to violence as his first and only argument.
So he trained alone and studied alone, or with Lan Xichen in the rare times when his friend was free, but it was boring, and anyway, he thought heâd gotten on pretty well with Lan Wangji the first time theyâd met. It wouldnât be a real spar, of course, not against a six-year-old, but doing the moves slow and mirroring a smaller opponent would force him to pay close attention to his own technique, which would pay off in the long run.
He explained this to Lan Wangji when the boy frowned up at him in what Nie Mingjue was starting to be able to identify as a silent question â he didnât use many words himself, just spat out âMirroring improves technique,â and saw that Lan Wangji understood the rest â and a moment later Lan Wangji nodded and rose to his feet, picking up one of the practice swords and taking a position opposite him on one of the fields.
Nie Mingjue started with a standard warm-up routine, unsure of Lan Wangjiâs skills. Supposedly he was the opposite of Nie Huaisang in this respect, too, startlingly advanced for his age, but Lan Qiren had also said something about him pausing his sword training as a result of some incident, not specified; his father had nodded in response as if heâd understood, which was very unhelpful to the eavesdropping Nie Mingjue, who didnât. Since he didnât know the background of the incident or when Lan Wangji had picked up sword training again, and more to the point wasnât inclined to ask since he knew that Lan Wangji wouldnât enjoy explaining, he just started out with the basics and went up slowly from there.
It turned out his concerns were mostly unnecessary â Lan Wangji was a bit stiff at first, maybe because of the kneeling heâd been doing, but he clearly had the basics down flat, and they were able to progress to something a little more interesting quick enough, trading very slow swipes with saber and sword.
Nie Mingjue didnât even notice that they had an audience until he heard Lan Xichen say his name in a strangled voice. He finished the follow-through of the move they were on, since stopping in the middle could be dangerous (not for them, not with training swords, but in the future, when it was real, and forming good habits now would help more later on), saluted Lan Wangji with his saber and was saluted in return, and then turned to look for his friend.
Lan Xichen was staring at them as if theyâd turned into ghosts, and there was a whole crowd of Lan sect disciples standing around gawking at them instead of doing their own training.
Nie Mingjue hunched up his shoulders, assuming heâd somehow managed to do something wrong again, and automatically stepped in front of Lan Wangji, blocking the othersâ views of him. âI challenged him,â he said bluntly, hoping to take the brunt of whatever punishment would need to be imposed here â generally speaking, heâd learned that the Lan sectâs penalties for being lured into misbehavior were less than the penalties for instigating it. âHe didnât seem otherwise occupied.â
âWangji,â Lan Xichen said, or started to say, but Lan Wangji was already turning to put away his training sword. He then formally saluted his brother and trotted away from the training field entirely.
Lan Xichen watched him go without stopping him, then turned to Nie Mingjue. âMingjue-xiong, how did you get him to fight you?â
Nie Mingjue blinked, confused. âI asked.â
âYes, but â how?â
âI asked him to train with me,â Nie Mingjue said slowly, not sure if he was missing something. âI pointed out that mirroring improves technique. He probably did it as a favor to meâŠlisten, do you need me to copy lines or something?â
âCopy lines?â
âFor whatever rule I just broke,â Nie Mingjue clarified, but Lan Xichen only looked more confused. âWas it because he was kneeling and I interrupted him?â
Everyone is staring at me again and I donât know why, again. Just tell me what it is that I did, impose the punishment, and I wonât do it again, I promise â but you need to tell me what it was that I did wrong first.
âMingjue-xiong,â Lan Xichen said, staring at him even more strangely now. âYou didnât break any rules at all.â
That was even weirder. âBut ââ
âWangji was kneeling because thatâs what he always does during training hours,â Lan Xichen said. âHe doesnât train the sword anymore.â
âHe â doesnât?â Nie Mingjue asked, now even more confused, and in his confusion forgot that he was in the Lan sect with their carefully thought-out sentences and myriad of prickly unwritten rules. âWhy not? Heâs so good at it! And he seemed to be having a good time, tooâŠlisten, I know your sect prizes musical cultivation, Xichen, and that itâs often one or the other, but thereâs really no reason he canât do both.â
He belatedly realized he was talking too much and shut his mouth, embarrassed. He shouldnât have brought up that subject.
After all, Qingheng-jun had been a sword cultivator with little interest in music beyond battle-songs  â still was, Nie Mingjue supposed, although he was in seclusion so much that it might as well be âhad beenâ â and Lan Qiren was an expert at musical cultivation, skilled in both xiao and guqin, but used his sword only to fly.  Theyâd been trained that way, complementary to each otherâs strengths â Qingheng-jun the attacking hand, Lan Qiren the supporting arm â which was a pretty decent plan right up until it had all rather been ruined when Qingheng-jun had for whatever reason retreated from the world.
âOf course,â Lan Xichen echoed, and luckily he didnât seem to notice the implied criticism. âHe should, of course, if he wants toâŠMingjue-xiong, Iâm sorry, I have to go again, I need to talk to my uncle at once. But you should feel free to challenge Wangji again â in fact, I would appreciate it if you did. Liu-xiong, can you tell Mingjue-xiong what Wangjiâs training hours are?â
One of the other Lan disciples nodded, and Lan Xichen flashed them both a thankful smile before disappearing again, even though heâd promised that his uncle only needed him for half a day and that theyâd be able to go down to visit Caiyi Town that afternoon.
As a result, despite Lan Xichenâs assurances, Nie Mingjue still had the distinct feeling that heâd done something wrong, but he really couldnât see what. Best not to think too much about it, he supposed.
-
By the afternoon, Nie Mingjue had retreated to the library to avoid being stared at. Heâd thought that the indirect sneers and silent rigid politeness that invited no familiarity was bad, but apparently it was actively worse when the Lan sect disciples treated him like heâd just turned into a performing monkey that had done a neat trick. They still wouldnât condescend to talk to him, of course, but they felt no issue staring or talking to each other about him â even though Nie Mingjue was sure there was a rule about not talking behind peopleâs backs.
Maybe it didnât count if you did it in front of their faces.
Nie Mingjue actually rather liked the library, despite the Lan sectâs general tendency to treat him like an illiterate ape that only knew how to swing a saber â even Lan Xichen had looked a little puzzled the first time heâd asked to spend the afternoon there, though of course he hadnât said anything out loud beyond reminding Nie Mingjue that they didnât have to go there and that it wasnât necessary to sacrifice his own enjoyment for Lan Xichenâs.
It wasnât his friendâs fault that he was brought up to prefer those were gentle and scholarly, Nie Mingjue reminded himself, even if it chafed a little every time that Lan Xichen automatically sided with someone who could express themselves better, someone cleverer with words than he; that trait was common to just about everyone at the Cloud Recesses, and at least Lan Xichen would eventually listen to him if he kept his temper under control and persisted in trying to make his point.
Nie Mingjue might wish that the Lan sect didnât view losing oneâs temper as an automatic forfeit of the argument â do not succumb to rage had been whispered in his vicinity more times than he could count, though rarely to his face â and he might think in his heart of hearts think that they were simply wrong in dismissing his viewpoint just because he felt too strongly about a matter to contain himself, but he was a guest here and he needed to respect their ways, conform himself to their customs, even if it upset and disturbed him to do so.
At least sometimes those ways and customs served him, including in the deliberate air of quiet contemplation in the Library Pavilion. There were separate rooms for private study, of course, but an emphasis was put on preserving the tranquility of the location, and it seemed that the Lan disciples at least knew enough shame to avoid coming to gawk at him from the door when he was there.
Deciding to entertain himself, Nie Mingjue picked out several books on military strategy utilizing musical cultivation â just because he was all but tone-deaf didnât mean he didnât appreciate the power of the Lan sectâs core techniques â and settled down for a nice afternoon of being alone.
Until, of course, he wasnât.
He was pretty absorbed in an analysis of altitude effects on range attacks for a while, deaf and blind to the outside world the way he usually was when he was reading, and then, perhaps alerted by some sound, he looked up to find that the sun had shifted position and also that Lan Wangji was sitting across from him with his own book primly laid out in front of him.
Nie Mingjue blinked and thought briefly about saying something. If it had been Nie Huaisang, he would have â some friendly jibe that Nie Huaisang would return in full measure, before they both settled down to enjoy each otherâs company in communal silence â but this was Lan Wangji, who was a Lan, and probably wouldnât appreciate it.
So he didnât say anything, just looked back down at his book and continued reading.
After a little while, there was a tug at his sleeve.
Nie Mingjue looked up. Lan Wangji was pointing to one of the words in his book â âFrivolous,â he said, assuming that Lan Wangji was asking for assistance with the more complicated characters the way that Nie Huaisang would have, albeit with much less whining. âMeans lacking purpose or value.â
Lan Wangji nodded, released his sleeve, and returned to his reading.
They carried on in this fashion for a while, quiet reading interspersed with occasional reading comprehension questions, and it was nice. Nie Mingjue could feel the stress of the day slowly sliding off his shoulders â more than just the day, maybe the whole week, the entire time heâd been here, or even before, when Nie Huaisang burst into tears at finding out his big brother was going to be leaving him behind. He would need to write to him again soon, Nie Mingjue thought to himself, and send presents; heâd been hoping to pick something up in Caiyi Town today, but then Lan Xichen had gotten busyâŠ
Itâd be nice if he could get him something from the Cloud Recesses itself, though.
âWangji,â he said before he could stop himself. âWhat is a present you would get for someone who likes pretty things?â
Lan Wangji blinked up at him, then frowned. Nie Mingjue was pretty sure that it was a thinking frown, though, so he just waited, and sure enough Lan Wangji carefully closed his book and stood up.
âFlowers,â he said, and held out a hand as if to help Nie Mingjue up.
Nie Mingjue long ago learned that when a small child offers to help you, you accept regardless of whether or not they were actually capable of performing the action in question â though with Lan sect arm strength, who even knew â so he took Lan Wangjiâs hand and scrambled up to his feet.
âFlowers?â he asked, a little dubiously. âI donât know if theyâd survive being sent by post.â
âFlower petals,â Lan Wangji clarified. âPressed.â
Nie Mingjue blinked, but actually, no, that sounded perfect for Nie Huaisang. Especially if he got them pressed into a bookmark or something.
âMy brother will love it,â he said enthusiastically. âDo you know where there are good flowers?â He knew himself well enough not to even try to make that sort of judgment call. âCan you show me?â
Lan Wangji frowned, and this one wasnât his thinking frown â it seemed sad, almost.
âYou donât have to,â Nie Mingjue assured him, but Lan Wangji set his shoulders in a look of fierce six-year-old determination and he nodded as if he was going to go to war. âReally, if you donât want to interrupt your reading ââ
âThe place is sad,â Lan Wangji said. âBut it has the best flowers.â
Nie Mingjue frowned. He could tell from the way Lan Wangjiâs little lips were firmed up in stubborn intent that there would be no stopping him, that he was determined to get Nie Mingjue the best flowers â truly, Lan Wangji was such a good boy, unlike that junior hellspawn and walking calamity named Nie Huaisang â but also that he thought it would hurt him to do so.
He didnât want Lan Wangji to hurt.
âDo you want to ride on my shoulders this time?â Nie Mingjue asked, and Lan Wangji looked at him in surprise. He shrugged. âSometimes having a different perspective on the same place makes it feel different.â
He knew he was butchering the explanation â he really wasnât good with words â but he didnât know how else to explain it.
He didnât know how to explain that he used to spend days and days looking at the place where Nie Huaisangâs mother had gone in to give birth and never come back out, equally drawn and repulsed by it, right up until the day he climbed up the gate of the Unclean Realm on a dare and by coincidence happened to see it when he looked down from that great height, only to realize that the place heâd thought of as dark and depressing and even haunted was just a room like all the rooms right beside it: he couldnât even tell it apart from the rest.
ââŠmn,â Lan Wangji said, sounding doubtful, but he hopped onto Nie Mingjueâs back when offered and scrambled up to sit on his shoulders, ducking his head to avoid the doorway to the Library Pavilion as they exited out the side door, and then he showed him the way to a nice looking cottage that seemed a little out of the way but which was surrounded by what were undoubtedly lovely purple gentians.
âWow,â Nie Mingjue couldnât help but say. âTheyâre very â purple.â
Lan Wangji poked him in the head.
âThey are! Very purple. Iâm sure Huaisang will love them to a ridiculous degree and that my father will write me angry letters about trying to sell him to the Jiang sect again ââ There was a very small snort from above his head. âIn my defense, he was really annoying when he was a colicky baby, and at the time I thought the Jiang sect were pirates.â
Another snort, this time less small. Somewhat disdainful.
âListen, theyâre âknown for their watercraftâ, right? It was a perfectly reasonable mistake to makeâŠâ
Lan Wangji didnât giggle the way Nie Huaisang did when Nie Mingjue clowned around for him, but he was smiling by the time he edged onto a nearby tree branch to get a particular blossom that Nie Mingjue had set his heart on, declaring it the fattest of all the flowers and thereby a necessary acquisition, and in the end they collected a full basket of the purple flowers, more than enough for a dozen pressed bookmarks.
The smile made Nie Mingjue feel like he accomplished something.
It was almost enough, even, to let him brush off all the stares they got as they walked back together, side-by-side.
-
Nie Mingjue reported to Lan Qirenâs study with a great deal of trepidation.
It only got worse when he saw Lan Xichen sitting there as well, and when Lan Qiren instructed his nephew to serve them all tea. Nie Mingjue was abruptly seized by the fear that something terrible had happened: that heâd broken some unknown rule and needed to be punished severely, that heâd failed all his tests, that theyâd decided he wasnât actually a good fit for the Cloud Recesses after all, that his father had been summoned to take him back home early in disgrace â
âYouâve been spending some time with Wangji of late,â Lan Qiren said.
Nie Mingjue nodded.
âYesterday, you presented the craftsman with a basket of purple gentians. Did Wangji show you where to find them?â
âYes,â Nie Mingjue said cautiously. âHe helped me pick them.â
Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen exchanged glances.
Nie Mingjue somehow felt even more nervous.
âWas I not supposed to take them?â he asked. âWangji said theyâre his motherâs favorites.â
Lan Xichen dropped his cup.
âXichen,â Lan Qiren said sternly, and Lan Xichen apologized and quickly cleaned it up. Luckily the cup had not shattered. âNie-gongzi, to confirm, Wangji told you that himself?â
Nie Mingjue nodded.
Lan Qiren stroked his beard thoughtfully. âNie-gongziâŠif I were to tell you that Wangji has not spoken to anyone in nearly six months, what would you say?â
Nie Mingjue blinked.
âHe also hasnât trained with the sword in that time,â Lan Xichen interjected.
Nie Mingjue opened his mouth, then closed it. He had no idea what to say.
âOur mother died,â Lan Xichen explained, his brow creased in misery and concern. âWangji didnât really understandâŠit took a long time before he understood that he couldnât see her any more.â
âOh,â Nie Mingjue said, feeling uncomfortable. âIâm sorry, Xichen.â
Now it was Lan Xichenâs turn to blink. âSorry? For what?â
âFor your loss? I mean, she was your mother, too, right?â It occurred to Nie Mingjue that she might not be, the way his mother and Nie Huaisangâs mother werenât the same, but he was pretty sure the Lan sect only allowed for one marriage, and the age gap between Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji was smaller than the one between him and Nie HuaisangâŠ
âYes,â Lan Xichen said. âShe â was. Thank you.â
Lan Qiren made a thoughtful sound.
âIf youâre asking if I did something to convince Wangji to come with me and do all that,â Nie Mingjue said, having finally figured out why he was sitting here having tea and being uncomfortable, âI really didnât. It may just be that enough time has passed for the wound to scab over.â
âPerhaps,â Lan Qiren said.
âI think he feels bad for me?â Nie Mingjue hazarded. âIâm not sure. Iâm still learning how to understand him.â
âThe fact that youâve realized that thereâs something there to understand puts you way ahead of most people,â Lan Xichen told him.
âWhy would he feel bad for you?â Lan Qiren asked.
Because your sect is full of snobs that all hate me.
âUh,â Nie Mingjue said. âI â have no idea.â
Lan Xichen frowned at him. âMingjue-xiong, âdo not tell liesâ is a rule.â
âSo is âdo not insult peopleâ,â Nie Mingjue said sulkily, and refused to say another word no matter how many ways Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen asked. Heâd already figured out that not talking was the best way to avoid getting into trouble â the Lan sect was much more insular than the Nie sect, with all sorts of restrictions about getting brought in, and he didnât have any confidence that expressing grievances would result in anything other than more shunning.
Eventually, Lan Qiren dismissed him, frowning, and Lan Xichen escorted him back to his rooms.
âIs it because you donât trust me?â he asked, and Nie Mingjue stared at him.
âWhat are you talking about?â he said. âOf course I trust you. Youâre my friend.â
âThen why didnât you tell me that there was something wrong?â Lan Xichen demanded. âAnd donât say nothingâs wrong, thatâs obviously a lie.â
âItâs because weâre friends,â Nie Mingjue said with a sigh. Most of the time, he forgot that there was an age gap between him and Lan Xichen â three and a half years, same as the gap between Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji â but sometimes it really hit home. âI donât want to make trouble for you. This is just a place Iâm staying for a little while, but you live here; after I go, weâll still be friends, but youâll still be stuck with whatever mess I make for you.â
Lan Xichen was scowling, his lower lip trembling a little, and Nie Mingjue cautiously reached out a hand to put on his shoulder, squeezing. He would prefer to give him a hug, but he didnât know if it would be welcome â heâd already told Lan Xichen that he himself was always open for hugs, but he knew very well that Lan Xichen was uncomfortable with too much contact.
âItâs all right,â he said.
âNo, itâs not,â Lan Xichen said. âWangji noticed that you were unhappy, and I didnât! What kind of friend am I?â
âYouâre a good friend,â Nie Mingjue insisted. âYou are. Itâs not about you. I promise.â
They still hadnât resolved it by the time Lan Xichen left him at his room. Nie Mingjue sighed, hoped that he hadnât inadvertently ruined everything, and went to sleep.
The next morning, he woke up when the door to his room opened abruptly with a slam that seemed, in his sleep-fogged brain, to echo throughout the entire Cloud Recesses.
âMingjue-xiong!â
ââŠXichen?â Nie Mingjue said, and rubbed his eyes disbelievingly. âDid you just slam a door?â
It wasnât really a slam. It was a small shove, at best.
âWhy didnât you tell me people were being mean to you?â Lan Xichen demanded, and Nie Mingjue stared at him. âI wouldâve made them stop! Really, I would have! I donât care if theyâre Lan sect and youâre not, they shouldnât be â I shouldnât be â making assumptions about you or pushing you out or â or â or anything!â
âWhere did you get all of this from?â Nie Mingjue asked, utterly at sea. He was right, of course, about the problems Nie Mingjue had been having, but he certainly hadnât known it last night before curfew and while, yes, it was only morning by the standards of guest disciples and not Lan sect members themselves â he got an extra shichen to sleep in while he adjusted to the earlier schedule, of which he generally tried to use only half â it still seemed a little implausible that Lan Xichen had managed to puzzle all of that out overnight.
âWangji!â Lan Xichen said, and threw himself on the bed next to Nie Mingjue and gave him a hug, a good proper one like the ones he used to get all the time back in Qinghe and which he missed rather terribly. âHe actually came and talked to us! With words! Well, a few words, anyway, but he hasnât said anything to Shifu or me for six months up until now. He said you were unhappy because of the other Lan disciples persisted in thinking that you were stupid and angry when youâre neither.â
Nie Mingjue felt warm inside.
âYour brotherâs smart,â he said gruffly.
âHe is,â Lan Xichen said. âIâm sorry if I made you feel like I also thought you were stupid and angry and nothing more than that. I know youâre not.â
âI didnât think that,â Nie Mingjue said, and it was mostly not a lie. âWeâre friends, arenât we? A friend wouldnât think that about another friend.â
âThatâs right,â Lan Xichen said, nodding firmly. âAnd friends donât let friends go around thinking they didnât do anything when they did something big â I still donât know what exactly you did, Mingjue-xiong, but you helped Wangji a lot, and Iâm eternally grateful.â
âThereâs no need for thanks between friends,â Nie Mingjue reminded him, the first rule of their friendship formed in the spaces between discussion conferences that neither of them had any choice but to attend, and Lan Xichen smiled.
âI know,â he said warmly, and Nie Mingjue felt warm in response. âBut Iâm going to abuse my privilege and ask you to keep spending time with him â with both of us, sometimes, but with him by yourself if you donât mind â so I think youâre owed at least one âthanksâ.â
âOh, I see how it is,â Nie Mingjue said, grinning. âYou just want a free babysitter, is that it?â
âIt is not! Mingjue-xiong!â
Nie Mingjue started laughing. Lan Xichen smacked him â lightly by Lan standards, no doubt, but it was a good thing Nie Mingjue was as strong as he was.
âI donât mind,â Nie Mingjue finally said. âI like your brother.â
Lan Xichenâs smile was as dazzling as the sun. âGood,â he said. âHe likes you, too.â

I didnÂŽt call you babe, I was asking what it meant
Itâs been a while since I posted a story, I apologize, IÂŽve been like crazy cause Iâm starting college this year and well, I havenÂŽt had time.
I finally watched Bill and TedÂŽs trilogy and of course I now adore them and have the biggest crush on Ted. I thought of this while rewatching the first movie today so here it is. In this story Lizzie and Joanna are saved by Rufus like in the movie, but they donÂŽt stay with Bill an Ted (they can still be a part of the band though).
Summary: When the guys go to London in the XV century, they encounter someone else who needs a hand.
Relationship: Ted x femreader, Bill x platonic!femreader
Warnings: none.
Oh you did it this time, you certainly did it. There was no way you would get away from this execution. You were being dragged by the guards, not that you would try to fight them at this point, you knew it was hopeless, but you werenÂŽt going to make it easy for them either.
The wooden door opened with a loud creak as the light from the outside blinded you. You could feel the change in the floor, from cold stone to dirt. You werenÂŽt precisely scared, you were hoping you would get out of this just like the past times but now they took you by surprise, and unlike the others, you didnÂŽt have an escape plan now.
You felt dozens of eyes on you, looking in disgust. Everyone here knew you at this point: the young girl with the weird accent that had no family and only knew how to steal. It was partially true, but of course there was more to you. You didnÂŽt bother trying to change their minds about you anymore, though.
-Aha! I encounter you again- yelled the king from his seat. You rolled your eyes at him and at the look of victory in his eyes. You really didnÂŽt want to give him the satisfaction of killing you, and you didnÂŽt want to die either.
As the guards settled you in place, you realized they were dragging two weird looking guys and tying them up next to you. They had clothes you had never seen before, and they looked funnily scared. The blonde one had a kind aura, he seemed sweet, and the dark haired one, as foolish as he looked, you had to admit was rather handsome. Well, you were clearly lying to yourself, he was beautiful.
-First time here, boys?- You asked with a giggle, still refusing to believe you were going to die.
-Youâve been in this situation before? Are you a ghost?- they asked at the same time.
-Iâve indeed been in this situation before, but I can guarantee IÂŽm not a ghost- you stated.
-Well, how did you get out? We could use some help ya know, babe- The dark haired said with a cute and confused look in his eyes. You flinched at the nickname, you certainly hadnÂŽt heard that before and didnÂŽt know what to think about it.
-Babe?- you asked.
-Yeah?- The same guy asked, waiting for you to say something else. His expression suddenly changed as if he had realized something- Wait, did you just call ME babe?- You swore he was blushing.
-No, I was asking you what it meantâŠARGH- you were interrupted by the burning sensation of rope around your neck. They were putting you all in position for the execution.
Behind you, you heard a man screaming nonsense âThey fell from the sky!!â âThis devilish red box!!â. He was being carried by a cart and was hugging the weirdest thing you had ever seen.
-This is it. Lord, I canÂŽt believe this- You were getting ready to face your destiny when you noticed there where only two executioners. Before you could even realize what was happening, the executioners cut the ropes that were holding you.
-Billy! Socrates!- The guys yelled while hugging the men. You then felt a hand on your shoulder and quickly turned, ready to punch who you thought was a guard.
-DONÂŽT- The cute boy said while covering his face.
-Come on, babe! Come with us, we can get you out of here- You didnât even stop to think about it, you just jumped to the cart and screamed your way through the town. You were speeding up more and more, and you were not feeling ready to die again, so as you passed a bridge, you managed to grab a rope that was tight to a wooden structure and pulled so it would block your persecutorÂŽs way.
-WOW That was excellent! - both boys said at the same time and then did a strange movement with their hands in the air while shacking their heads happily. They were definitely the weirdest people you had ever met, but you liked that.
As you reached the woods, the guys hurried all of you to get into the red rectangle. You saw the blonde guy going through a book and pressing some metallic thingies.
-Oh IÂŽm Ted by the way, and that is Bill, Socrates and Billy- Ted said while pointing at each of them. You blushed at his attention.
-IÂŽm Y/N- you said with a worried smile since the guards were getting closer.
-Y/N- Ted repeated proudly- Beautiful name for a beautiful lady- That made you blush even more, especially since you were pretty close to him because of the small space inside the red rectangle.
Suddenly all your surrounding changed and you could only see what seemed like infinite. You closed your eyes while screaming and hang on to the shirt of whoever was next to you. Spoiler alert, it was Ted. He didnât even scream through the time tunnels since he was too busy looking at you.
The red thing finally stopped and Bill asked you to stay inside. You didnÂŽt see much of what happened out there, you just heard Bill and Ted say: âBe excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!â. You didnÂŽt know what that meant, but they said it with such conviction you assumed they were wise words.
After the guys returned, you made more travels to who knows where and then finally arrived to what Bill and Ted called home. You saw TedÂŽs house and your head was now hurting with questions, but you understood Ted and Bill needed your help so you would ask everything after that.
They took you to a place called The Mall. It was huge and filled with people. You were looked at weirdly, but to you, the weird ones were all of them. Bill explained what The Mall was and Ted never left your side, he was at the end of the line, guarding all your new friends, but always made sure you were feeling safe.
They gave you a Slursy? Slusfy? Oh whatever, it was the most delicious thing you had ever tried, and Ted smiled so widely just by seeing how happy you were with it. He mentioned they would have to go get another historical figure that they had brought before, and you didnÂŽt want to be without them so you asked if you could go with them. They agreed happily.
You then met Deacon, TedÂŽs little brother, and before you knew you were at a place called a water park? You didnÂŽt understand so Ted took you to take a look and explain while Bill went looking for Napoleon. You got lost in TedÂŽs explanation by looking into his eyes, and he realized you werenÂŽt paying attention. He thought you were making fun of him in your head or that you thought he was an idiot. But what you blurted out (according to you, you said it in your head, apparently you didnÂŽt) made him see that wasnÂŽt at all what you were thinking.
-How can you be so cute and pretty?- The question was out before you could even think. You turned a bright red and looked at the floor, but Ted softly grabbed your chin and made you look at him.
-You really think that, Y/N?- His eyes were filled with so much joy, hope and a beautiful spark that you couldnât bring yourself to lie to him.
-Well, yes, of course I do. I mean, you literally saved me andâŠ- You werenÂŽt allowed to finish, a pair of soft lips in yours interrupted you midsentence, but of course you didnÂŽt care. You tasted and enjoyed every bit of it, just like Ted did.
-Okay guys, I found him⊠WOAH- Bill was carrying a man covered in a towel and was smirking at you both.
-DUDE- Ted said looking happier than you had ever seen him (and that was a lot to say).
-Awesome!- They both said and did what you now knew was an air guitar movement.
You headed back to the Mall and soon realized your historical friends had been taken to prison by Tedâs father. You didnât really understand what was going on, everything was new for you and Bill had to drag you as you stood astonished looking at a bicycle (not to mention how many questions you asked about the car). The guys decided it would be best if you stayed with Missy and Napoleon in the car, Ted specified he didnât want you to get hurt.
Missy asked you tons of questions and answered yours. She was really nice, and even though Napoleon was weird, he was really funny (because he didnât understand anything).
Finally Bill and Ted returned with the others and you headed back to the Mall.
You werenât a historical figure, so you got to watch the guyâs complete presentation from behind the stage and to clap like crazy when they finished. Ted had gotten you some clothes when you returned to the Mall, and you were the most comfortable you had ever been.
You decided to stay with them, but you did accompany the guys to leave the historical figures at their times, they ended up being your friends after all.
When you returned, Ted wanted to offer you to stay in his house, but he knew his dad wouldnÂŽt allow it, so you stayed with Bill instead. You saw Ted all the time though, and when they discovered that you could sing they immediately asked you to join their band and be the lead singer. You couldnÂŽt say no to TedÂŽs beautiful face, so you agreed, and of course their love for music was contagious and you were loving every new song they showed you. Rufus then confirmed you were a part of the band in the future, and so, thatÂŽs how your life in a different time began, and you couldnÂŽt love it more.

Hey I love your blog! If it isnât too much trouble, could you do one of the companions reacting to Sole getting an unsolicited dick pic?
FO4 Companions React to Sole Receiving an Unsolicited Dick Pic
So I know the ask said one of the companions, but I just did 'em all cuz I got carried away (as I always seem to). This was definitely an interesting one to think about, and suuuuper fun to write. Thanks for the ask!
I ended up doing a little scenario at the top that'll apply to all of the reactions, and just kind of give context for the fateful event to take place (since phones/the internet aren't really a canon element in FO, I put this scenario together instead.)
Given the nature of this ask, there's a just bit of NSFW under the cut!
Sole had woken up like any other day. Heading down the stairs of their Diamond City home to make breakfast, trying to be quiet in order to keep from disturbing their companion in the other room. However, as they passed their front door, they noticed something peeking out of the mail slot.
The paper isn't meant to come out until tomorrow...
Curious, Sole reached for the little white square of photo paper, and noticed some writing in the corner. There was an address and the words, "if you like what you see, meet me here tonight," accompanied by a little arrow pointing to flip the photo over. Their intrigue got the better of them, and Sole did as the writing suggested, turning it over for a brief second before immediately regretting it. They recoiled at the phallic image, their surprise evident in the small yelp they uttered in response to the sight before them.
They heard their companion stir from the other room, and then their footsteps sounded from behind as they approached questioningly.
"What have you got there?" They asked.
"Oh, it's nothing," Sole said, turning to face them, "just some mail, is all." Sole's words dripped with distaste, and yet... they felt an overwhelming need to share their unsightly discovery with the person in front of them.
"Wanna see?" They asked, mercilessly turning the picture so their companion could clearly make out the offensive image.
Cait:
*scoffs*
"What, they think that's somethin' te brag about? The damn thing's so wee, I almost couldn't make it out." She'd say with a smile, offering up her hand so she could take the picture and tear it in half. Cait effectively would make the decision for her companion in regards to the comment on the back of the photo. She knows this type of man, and she'd be sure that Sole wouldn't be meeting the asshole anywhere tonight. However, should she be able to sneak away while Sole is sleeping... Cait might just pay a visit to the specified location, where she'd surely give that asshole a piece of her mind, and at least one taste of her fist.
Curie:
Her eyebrows would furrow, and the synth would cock her head to the side in her confusion. Being locked away in a vault with three men for so many years, acting as their doctor, meant she had seen her fair share of the male sex organ. But now, Curie was confused, why did this man feel the need to send Sole a photograph of his penis? Was there something wrong with it? Did he want them to examine it? Sole was not a doctor...
"Why 'ave you received zhis, madame/monsieur? What does zhis man want from you?"
Once Sole explained, Curie would be quite upset by the concept.
"But... you did not ask for zhis, did not want it, and yet, he sent it anyway. Why would you want to meet someone like zhat? It seems very rude to me." She's still confused about it, and may ask a few more questions. Has this happened to Sole before? Does it happen often? Does anyone actually like to see such things when they are unprompted like this? If not, then why do these men continue to do it?
The scientist just wants answers.
Danse:
The soldier would physically recoil at the sight of the photograph, eyebrows raised high as he took in the image, before jerking his head and eyes away from Sole and the picture altogether.
"That-- that is highly inappropriate and an overwhelmingly vile display." He would say once he recovered from his initial shock, still refusing to look back towards Sole, "I suggest you dispose of that filth immediately. Why anyone would reveal themselves in such an unceremonious fashion is beyond me. You would do well to forget such graphic imagery. I know that I will certainly try."
He wouldn't even entertain the idea that Sole would go through with meeting the man behind the picture, but in the off chance that they decided to tell him they wanted to, Danse would spend the remainder of the day convincing them otherwise. He would almost be tempted to go to the location himself in order to lecture the man for his crude and inexcusable behavior, and blatant disrespect to his companion, but in the end, he decides that the man is not worth his time.
Deacon:
Ginger eyebrows would raise slightly over the frames of the glasses for the briefest of moments before he recovered his cool demeanor.
"Ah shoot, did the postman just put it right back into the mail slot? Didn't mean for you to see that, my bad. Here, I'll just deliver it myself."
The sarcasm was evident in his voice as he strode forward and plucked the photo from Sole's hand, examining it for just a moment, and grimacing a bit at the sight.
"Man, Dr. Rich Cockwood does not photograph well. I swear, it's bigger in person." He'd wink at them before glancing down at the picture again, scrutinizing blue eyes pausing to peruse the words on the back as he folded the paper up to put into his pocket. He'd quickly change the subject, trying to keep Sole's mind off the whole thing as he devised a way to sneak out that night and get some intel on the asshole who decided it was a wise idea to put Sole in this position.
Hancock:
*Squints*
"Oh shit. Looks like you've got an admirer there, Sole. " In his sleepy state, it took Hancock a minute to figure out what he was even looking at. Upon realizing that it was, in fact, what he thought it had been, he takes the picture from Sole's grasp and flips it around to glance at the back.
"Look at that, you've even got a date tonight. Must be somewhere romantic, I can tell this guy's old school." He nodded, flipping the photo over to glance once again at the offensive imagery on the front. "Yeah, real traditional, I'd say. Hmm... Mind if I tag along? Could be fun." There was a certain sort of glint in the ghoul's eye that made Sole's spine tingle.
Perhaps neither of us should go... Sole thought, noticing how Hancock's other hand toyed absentmindedly with his combat knife as he furrowed his brows at the photo one last time, before shoving the paper into the pocket of his coat. There was a certain sort of intent behind his actions that made Sole re-think even showing him the image in the first place. Hancock had killed people over less; that, Sole knew for sure.
MacCready:
"Ahh! What the heck are you doing?! I don't need to see that!" He'd squeeze his eyes shut just as soon as he was able to make out the photo, shoving his hands in front of him as though they would be able to push the image out of his mind.
"It's too early for this, what the heck is that guy's problem?" MacCready shuddered as he pulled his hands slowly from where they covered his eyes, glancing quickly at Sole before lowering them down completely, a relieved expression on his face as realized the picture was no longer in his line of sight. Noting his dramatic reaction, Sole considered toying with the mercenary a bit. They asked him what was wrong with the image, stating that perhaps they would pay this man a visit tonight. It had been so long since they had been out on a date, might as well go for it, right?
MacCready's eyes would simultaneously furrow, and widen at their words as he stuttered, finally finding his voice after a moment of shocked, choked silence.
"What?!" He exclaimed, "You're not seriously thinking of going, are you? That guy seems like such an ass-- Well, he just-- I mean..." He took a breath, and Sole had to bite their lip to hold back their grin. "Look, not that it's really any of my business or anything, but... don't you think you could do better than that guy? Like... a lot better?"
Sole couldn't hold back their grin any longer, but MacCready wouldn't meet their gaze. Instead he looked down at the floor, rubbing at the back of his neck with one hand, a nearly unnoticeable blush spreading over his cheeks.
"That guy just seems like a real jerk, and you? Well... Yeah, you deserve better than that, I think." He finished rather awkwardly, finally looking up to meet Sole's gaze before returning their coy smile.
Nick:
The synth would a have a brief moment of raised eyebrows as he took in the details of the photograph, and then the inevitable scowl of disappointment would spread across his face.
"You know, you'd think this guy would understand that no one in their right mind wants to see that particular... angle. You don't think that's his good side, do ya?" Sole would smile a bit at that, and as the synth turned to walk away from the offensive image, they told him about the writing on the back.
"Hey now, wait a minute. You're not thinking of paying this guy a visit, are ya? If so, that's a pretty poor decision on your part, I think."
Sole would shake their head, telling Nick not to worry as he fixed his inquiring yellow gaze on them. He nodded in response, seeming satisfied by their answer. In the next moment, a thought seemed to claim his attention.
"Hmm... I think I might just know the perp, actually. Ellie's got a few reports back at the office mentioning some similar events. Guess it's possibly one of the guards on night duty who goes around with these to see if he gets any takers."
Sole almost spoke up, but as they opened their mouth, Nick's words seemed to take their idea straight from their head. "On second thought..." He said, "You got any plans for this evening?"
Piper:
"Ahh! Blue! Why would you show me that!?" She'd physically cover her eyes with her hands, taking a few steps back and away from the picture for good measure.
"Look, I don't care what you do with it," she'd tell them, "just don't let me see it again!"
Sole would thankfully oblige, but before disposing of the image, they showed Piper the writing on the back. At the sight of the man's suggestion, Piper snatched the photo from Sole's hand, glaring at it furiously.
"Ohhhh no he doesn't. If he's sent crap like this to anybody else, I'm going to make sure no one falls for this."
And Piper kept her word, as the next morning's addition of Publik Occurrences contained a small piece written on exactly this subject, titled: To the Asshole who sent the Sad Little Picture to a Disgusted Citizen; No One Wants to See That! Sincerely, Everyone who has.
Preston:
"O-- oh! Um, that's-- okay. That's just wrong. Do you want me to get rid of it for you?"
Preston's face would wrinkle up in his clear distaste before bringing a a hand up to shield his eyes. When Sole had lowered the picture, he removed his hand, and looked them in the eye, refusing to pay the photo any more attention, but extending his hand out to take it from them so he could dispose of it properly.
"Are you... okay? I can't believe how rude some people are. Who would want to see that?" He'd flash a sympathetic smile at them, as he folded up the photo and prepared to throw it away. He didn't read the back himself, but if they told him about the words that were written there, he wouldn't even entertain the idea of Sole going, just shaking his head in disappointment at the man's poor and rude way of trying in vain to woo his General.
"Some people... The nerve. If you don't mind me saying, General, you deserve much better than that anyway."
X6-88:
His eyes would be locked to Sole's, but as they presented the photo to him, his gaze would fall to the image, and an ever so slight furrowing of his brows would take place above his silver eyes. A brief moment would pass, and X6's gaze would be back on his companion's face.
"Ma'am/ sir, why did you feel the need to show me this?" He's also quite confused, this was not a common occurrence in the Institute, and once Sole gave him an explanation, his expression would remain blank. For the most part, anyway. A small huff of laughter would escape him, prompting Sole to be the one giving him the questioning look now.
"If this filthy wastelander believes he can disrespect the future director of the Institute without facing consequences, he is sorely mistaken." He said, his gaze unbroken as he made Sole this promise, "Don't worry, I will take care of this filth at the specified meeting time and location. You will not hear from him again."
He doesn't necessarily intend to kill the man for his unseemly behavior; X6 is a courser after all, and he knew this man would be scared shitless if X6 were to so much as look at him the wrong way, but should the man make any... poor decisions in response to the courser's confrontation, well... certainly X6 can't be held responsible for the behavior, or the fate, of a mere stranger now, could he? Especially after his heinous actions.

--------------------------------------
You sat at the edge of your seat. Watching the clock above your teacher's head ever so closely.Â
âWhen you want to find the common di-âÂ
Suddenly the bell rang, interrupting your teacher from his final words.Â
âOh my bad, guess I lost track of time, anyways please remember to study for your quiz on Monday! I know it's a weekend, but save some time for academics!â said your teacher as your classmates packed up their stuff to leave.Â
Today was Friday, meaning it was the day you get to visit Kazutora at juvie for the first time after Keisuke's death, and your attempt. It was 3:30, and visiting hours started at 4 to 5 every Friday for inmates. Running to the metro takes about 5-7 minutes, and walking from the station to the actual juvie takes about 20 minutes, while the ride lasts up to 10, meaning you should arrive there at around 4:10. And there's no time to waste.Â
You ran out of class, ignoring your fellow classmates goodbyes. You held your book bag tight as you ran fast to the Tokyo station. Seeing you arrived just on time you jumped in just before the 3:30 o'clock train leaves to a different side of the district where Kazutora is being held. You held onto the rail beside you to keep yourself steady as the train started to move .Â
You felt scared but happy to see Kazutora. He most probably didn't know you would be coming, he probably thought you would at most write letters to him, like before, but again...Kazutora believes that you hate him now. You didn't know what you were going to say to him. Draken told you that he already visited him while you were in psychiatric hold for a bit, and he told you that Kazutora was planning on killing himself. Draken did not specify if he told Kazutora about your own attempt but you didn't worry too much because you were healing, and you now had hope. Â
Your heart was racing, as the train came to a stop. As the doors opened you ran, and fast. Dodging people to not hurt them and almost stepping on things you shouldnât be stepping on. You checked the time to see it was 4:01, and you still had about 10 minutes worth of walking/running to cover.Â
You were breathing heavily when the Juvenile building came into view. You checked the time again to see it was 4:11. You jogged to the doors of the building despite the fact that your thighs were burning from the amount of cardio you had just done.Â
It's all worth it.Â
You thought to yourself opening the doors.Â
Kazutora sat on the bed of his bland and colorless cell. He signed as he looked up at the ceiling light before turning his position to look at the side of the wall. He held his pillow tight. He knew it was visiting day, and his heart was anxious despite the fact that others had already been called to see their visitors, and there was still no call for him. He didn't even expect any visitors.
Kazutora didn't know if he wanted to see you or not. Heâs spent so much time alone in his cell thinking. He wondered if you had figured out the other reason for him stabbing his best friend, you could read people, but he knew you had a hard time reading him. He felt his heart ache. He was scared of the karma that would hit him because of it. Maybe not even Karma, but just some sort of punishment, for causing pain to the soul that cared for him so much, and for not being there for that soul when she needed it the most. Which... ultimately lead to your attempt, which Draken told him about during his visit. He shut his eyes as he remembered Draken's words.Â
âI donât wanna hear you say there is no point anymore. Because there is, and itâs kinda frustrating and irritating how you canât see it even though itâs right there. Sheâs in psychiatric hold right now because she was close to ending her own life. After Baji died, and you were taken away, Y/n couldn't take it anymore, and no one could see it because she just...she just kept it in, like you do. She was going to die on Bajiâs birthday if I wasnât there to make her throw up the pills she took. Her and I may not be blood related siblings, but I know sheâs been through a lot and has always gotten over it just fine, you know that...but this time...I got really fucking scared.â
Kazutora felt his heart drop to fucking hell at Drakenâs words. He felt his breathing stop as his mouth parted.
âI know you love her, I'm not sure in what way but I could care less about that. I know, Kazutora. All those times you came crying to the brothel, crying into her arms, begging for some type of help and she helped you, lended you her body for you to cry on, Iâd hear all of it. I know youâre hurting, but if you go, I don't think she will be able to live with herself. Sheâll blame herself for not being there for you like sheâs always been. Do you understand?â
He felt his body throb from literal physical pain. Kazutora was feeling and getting the punishment he deserved right then and there.Â
âYou owe it to her, whether you like it or not, to stay alive because she's doing the same for you. And once youâre out of here, you should finally grow up. Let her cry into your arms for once. Sheâs your best friend, right? Because she deserves for those efforts to be reciprocated. And you deserve to see what sheâs gone through because of everything that happened. Take care, Kazutora.âÂ
Kazutora was lost in his own mind, to the point where he couldn't even register that one of the guards was calling his name from the cell door.
âHm? Iâm sorry I wasn't...uh, paying attention. What did you say?â he asked sitting up nervouslyÂ
âYou got a visitor, kid. Câmon get up.â said the man unlocking his cellÂ
âA- visitor?â he said quietly getting up from his bed with shocked eyesÂ
It was already 4:15. Kazutora grew anxious at who his visitor could be. He was sure it wasn't you, your school is too far for you to make it here in time. There would only be a couple minutes to spare if you did try. Could it be Draken wanting to give him a word of advice? Or maybe Chifuyu.. Maybe Mikey? God, who could it be. It made him feel even more congested and trapped than before. Â
As Kazutora walked, he looked down at his feet avoiding people's gazes. He saw the backs of his fellow juvenile delinquents from the side of his eye. His heartbeat became stronger, and he felt it thumbing in his ears. God, he didn't know what to expect. He was just so...frustrated.Â
âHere, you have until 5.â said the guard, taking off his hand cuffs. His back was facing you. You grew anxious bringing your hands to rest on your things and skirt, waiting for him to turn around and look at you. You watched as he rubbed his wrists and sat down at the stool still not looking at you. You rubbed your hands together under the table separating you both, as the guard walked away to patrol. Your eyes followed the guard, not even noticing that Kazutora had turned to look at your face.Â
Kazutora felt his face get hot at the sight of you. You had a school shirt on, with a dark blue tie and a sweater vest, Your hair tied into a low and messy bun with some of you natural and dyed hairs falling out framing your face. He felt his whole body go warm as you turned your head and gave him a nervous smile as a small blush formed. He didn't know why he was scared to see you, because every time Kazutora had the chance to see you, he instantly felt better, no matter what.
You two, and the other inmates and visitors, were all separated by a piece of plastic with a vent to capture sound better. On the side there was a subsection with an opening to the other side where you could pass things through. Such as notes, toys, hygiene stuff, and extra. You brought your hands to the table holding them.
âHey...sorry Iâm late.â you said as you saw Kazutora snap out of his gazeÂ
âOh no I-, please donât be..â he said waving his hands frantically, clearly nervous
âI had to run about 2 miles to get here..â you laughed trying to not tense up
Kazutora felt⊠stupid, why would you do that? Just to see him? It just made him even more confused...confused about how he felt towards you.Â
âJust to see me? But..why?â he asked without thinking and just speaking, giving a regretful and embarrassed face after asking his question.
âHm? Oh well it's simple reallyâŠâ you said bringing your hands to rest in between your thighs on your seatÂ
âI know that I've told you that I don't like saying these words to people because it sounds like some sort of goodbye but itâs time I grow up from my past, and stop keeping things in..soâŠitâs because I love you... I thought that was fairly obvious but I don't wanna mess up like I did last time. I want you to know that I do love you and care for you.â you said giving him a closed eyed smile, this made Kazutora realize that you deeply regretted not telling Keisuke that you loved him more often when you two still had time. He felt his heart ache. He felt so guilty and gross.
âSo, Iâm gonna try and start saying that more often..â you said laughing to break the silenceÂ
Kazutora was still speechless at what you had just said. He couldnât seem to process it, and he wanted to say it back but for some reason he just couldnât. He was afraid that something else might slip out. He truly didn't think he was worthy of your love and care. It became quiet. Again.
âI made you a bento box with your favorite things, I made sure to put some extra meat. Cause you always used to ask for that when I would make bentos for study days with you and Keisuke. And donât worry! Itâs allowed and you can have the kitchen hold it for you till youâre ready to eat it for today's dinner, the guards said so. And the container is microwave safe! So you can warm up the entree section. Thereâs rice and BBQ meat, little octopus shaped sausages and sauce with it! Oh and a salad with sesame dressing on the side, and desert which is just mochi. Every Friday I'll come by, and give you the new bento and you'll just give me back the old one, so that I can wash it and so we don't have to waste stuff.â you said smilingÂ
Your hand dung into your bag, and you pulled out a wooden bento box sliding it halfway through the subsection, but Kazutora hung his head low. You smiled, trying your best to make things right, as silence grew loud again.Â
âI can also bring some mangas for you, I know you like shounen and also horror.. So I can buy some and give them to you so that you aren't bored! This week's shonen jump is good⊠Itâs about a boy who is trying to save his mom, and ends up traveling across lands, with close friends, to get this special potion that will heal her, but Iâll make sure to look for some good horror manga too...I know you like stuff about folk tales, that sound okay?â Â
Silence.
After a few minutes you spoke again.
âI decided to let my hair grow out cause I kinda miss having longer hairâŠThere's this really pretty girl in my class who has long blonde hair.. Like Emmaâs but longer and more wavy.. What about you? Anything you wanna do to your hair when you get out? Iâll take you to get it done-âÂ
Silence.Â
The time now at 4:40. Kazutora bit his lip out of frustration, refusing to look up at you.Â
âOh! What about I bring over a sudoku book, so you can work on your academics as well! I can teach you how to play, itâs fun once you get the hang of it. Or I can bring just a simple literature book, itâs really up to you, I think both are great.âÂ
Silence.Â
âMaybe markers so you can draw on yourself when youâre bored? I remember you doing that while I would tutor you and Keisuke. I can get big and small ones, and ones with different colors too. Also a sketch book, since youâre really good at drawing.âÂ
You were met with silence again. You felt your heart ache. Your eyes looked up at the clock and saw it was 4:47. You both were running out of time. About half an hour went by of your speaking, you giving a couple minutes in between waiting for him to speak back, but nothing. You clenched your hands into fists, biting your bottom lip as you looked down at your hands, resting on your thighs.Â
You felt a strong feeling in your throat, the feeling you get when youâre about to sob. You were so frustrated, and you were trying to keep a level head. It was hard and you just wanted to fucking cry.Â
âI- '' you said before closing your mouth realizing you were about to let out a whine. You didn't wanna cry, you wanted to say something but you were afraid that if you did, it would just come out as a sob. Â
âI know itâs hard on you-â you said holding back your sobs while still looking down at your hands, letting your hairs cover your faceÂ
âIf you donât want me here, I promise- that Iâm fine with that...but~â you said in between pauses keeping your sobs in, but your last word came out shaky making Kazutora shoot his head to see you about to cry.Â
He felt his heart ache once again.Â
 âBut pleaseâŠ.jus-just say something. Anything. At least acknowledge that I'm here.â you cried quietly while tensing up your shouldersÂ
Kazutora frowned. This was his punishment. Seeing you cry, and not being able to hold and comfort you like he desperately wanted to. He opened his mouth, but closed it soon after when nothing came out. Not even a squeak, or whine, or breath.Â
âI-â
You heard him say. You looked up with tears in your eyes seeing his face of desperation.Â
Kazutora wanted to speak so badly, there were so many thoughts in his head he just could not push one out of his mouth, and he was afraid he might say something he would regret. He wanted to respond to everything you asked him, add commentary, tell you that you looked pretty today, say thank you for the food you made him. Tell you to not waste your tears on someone like him. Say sorry for making you feel uncomfortable because of his silence. God he just-Â
âI love you-â he choked up and said in a louder tone causing your eyes to widen and mouth to part from shock at his sudden outburst.
He was avoiding your eyes as he spoke.Â
âI- thank you, thank you so much for the food! Really! And I would really love whatever and everything you bring me.â he said, quieting down towards the end. Â
âI...canât put my thoughts into words⊠and I donât wanna say something Iâd regret. All this time Iâve just been lost in my own mind. I just want you to know that..that I really am in- that I really appreciate you. I want you..to be here, and Iâm so...sorry for making you cry.â he said in between pauses of frustration and embarrassmentÂ
You felt your body get warm, your heart beat was strong and you could feel it in your finger tips and temples. You opened your mouth to say something before Kazutora spoke again.Â
âI..wanted to.. Wanted to help you...in just some way...after seeing you cry for the first time...with Baji in your armsâŠ.I shouldn't have stabbed Baji...I took the person you loved more than anything...away from you.. Because I was j- because I was so stupid, and still am. Even when youâve done...so fucking much for me...I- and I took him from you...I just donât get it⊠how can you have any empathy towards me anymore.. It doesn't make sense. I took so much from you⊠I killed Shinchiro, and I killed Baji. You loved them both...Mikey loved them both, why do..why do you even have any feeling towards me?â he said looking into your eyes with tears  Â
Your eyes softened at him. You took a small breath before saying-
âI thought I already told you why, Kazutora. I love you.âÂ
Kazutora felt a tear run down his cheek. He knew how much thought came behind those simple words.Â
âI donât need a reason to love you. Just like I don't need a reason to be hungry. Itâs just there, and will continue to be there, you know what I mean? Same thing with everyone I love.â you saidÂ
His breath hitched. The time now at 4:52.
âThe only difference is I was in love with Keisuke. I still am in love with him. Even though heâs not here anymore. I know you might think I love him and Shinchiro and Mikey because they saved my life and helped me. But I was only so little. I had no concept of it. So was Keisuke. So was Mikey. Keisuke had no reason to come up to little me while I was starving on the ground practically dying. He just did it. He was too young to understand love. You think he understood his feelings for me the second he saw me? Or even with Mikey or Shinchiro. Of course not. They were just focussed on saving my life at the time. We discovered the love that was involved later. Even if it was too late to say anything about it. It took Kei and I about...hmmm..5-7 years maybe...to understand what we felt toward each other specifically. It is different with everyone. The love is just there, itâll just be understood when the time is right. Like when your hunger just hits you. So when you ask me why I love you, or care for you, or forgive you. I just canât give you a simple answer, even if I wanted toâŠ.because there's so much. Too much.âÂ
Kazutora understood your words. He really did. It made so much sense to him and he just wanted to scream.
Why? Well..Â
âThe time will come where you believe that you're worthy of someone else's love and even your own, and even worth loving someone else yourself. So donât worry. Iâll wait. Iâll wait as long as it takes. Even if it takes all the time in the world, okay?â you said smiling at him leaving him with shocked eyes
âAlright times up! 5 o'clock!â yelled a guardÂ
âWell, I'll see you next Friday, okay? Iâll bring over some manga, oh! And don't forget the bento!â you said getting up from your seat as Kazutora did the same keeping his hands on the table as the guard came to cuff themÂ
âY/n I-IâmâŠâ
No. He canât say it. He can never ever say it. Why? And say what?Â
Because he will never be him. He can never be like him for you, and he was perfect for you. He was the one there for you. He had the time to love you. He was the one. He could never even compete. Not after what he did. Not after the jealousy and envy grew and brewed inside him towards him. He is filthy. Not worthy of your love. Right?Â
But someday, he desperately and genuinely wants to allow himself to be loved, and to love. Kazutora will forever be longing for that moment. And when he can love, and allow himself to be loved, he wants it to be with you.Â
But till that time comes..
âIâll...really be looking forward to it.â he said biting back his words and smiling softlyÂ
âLikewise.â you said smiling as you both parted your ways, at least for the time being.Â
------------------------------------------
Explanation/note: when i wrote this, i made y/n be a âfosterâ siblings with Draken and childhood friends with Mikey and Keisuke. << Reason being is because i gave her a backstory where she was neglected and ran away, hence her having a more naturing personality. Y/n and Keisuke were a couple till he died but Kazutora always loved Y/n so itâs a love triangle in a way? I donât know, but Kazutora grew envious of Keisuke in this ff which ended up being a motive to stabbing him during the fight, to which he later regrets and gets punishment for. Y/n in the story doesnât know that so thatâs why Kazutora canât accept her love for real because he doesn't know if Y/n will really forgive him after that, and Kazutora wonât be able to learn/accept love till he admits what he did. Holding in that secret, and being in love with Y/n makes him feel frustrated and act out. And obviously time is the theme of this whole story. Kazutora at the end decided to avoid his feelings because the way things are going right now fro the time being for him are fine because he doesn't believe he deserves anything more.  But that can only last for so long, so heâs gambling with his relationship with you. He thinks of it as his punishment for now, not being able to tell you how he really feels, and not being able to comfort you.
ANYWAYS hope you liked it, sorry if itâs confusing.Â

As many school days do, the day had dragged on at a painfully slow pace. Maybe it felt slower since it was Friday? The weekend was just barely in everyoneâs grasp, making the school work feel even worse. Waiting so impatiently for the last bell to ring, your eyes barely capable of being held open.
Finally, almost like a saving grace, it rang. The teacher wrapped up their talking, as if any of the students were paying real attention. All anyone was looking for were their final words of the week.
âThat sums it up. Alright, youâre dismissed- have a great weekend.â
Finally.
You grabbed your books, making your way to your locker, and tossing them inside. Yashiro and Kou were busy after school, so you grabbed your backpack, making your way towards the bathroom so you could give Hanako some company for a while. Though tired, spending time with him was always worth it. Suppressing a yawn, you pushed open the bathroom door, glancing to make sure the bathroom was void of any people, then calling for your boyfriend.
âHanako-san, are you there?â You joked lightheartedly, jumping onto the window seal, and sitting sideways- it provided just enough space for you to nearly lay down comfortably. It was strangely nice, as you glanced out the window, up at the sun that was drifting across the sky. It wasnât setting yet, but you knew it wouldnât be too long before it did.
â(Y/N)!â He said, practically collapsing on top of you, his head flopping onto your chest, legs landing on either side of you, arms doing the same. At that, you laughed, patting his head- or⊠his hat. But the intention was a headpat. âQuite the greeting,â You said, still giggling lightly. Hanako sat up slightly, looking at you as he sighed.
âItâs been a long day,â He said, removing his hat and placing it on your head. The previous time he did it was, similarly, when he intended to cuddle for a bit. He had placed it on your head, saying that it was uncomfortable, but heâd let you wear it âfor safe keeping.â
âIndeed it has. Anything in particular?â
âJust some particularly insistent mokke,â He yawned, leaning forward to place a quick kiss to your lips, then laying back down, making himself comfortable on your chest, before finishing his thought. âNothing a little recharging canât fix. Mmh, nope, thereâs nothing a chest pillow canât fix.â
You basically ignored the last comment, letting him get comfortable on top of you. Almost instinctively, you ran your hand through his hair, playing with the choppy locks affectionately. You took note of how comfortably his torso fit on the window seal. One of his legs dangled off of the side, the other was folded up, pressed between the window and your (rather squished) legs. And here you were- back bent a bit, as you were laying slightly down, but not fully. Your legs were brought up, open just enough for the remainder of Hanakoâs torso to rest comfortably. Yes, there was no denying it... He was tiny.
That thought made you laugh lightly, as you placed your other hand on his back. Your hand rose and fell with his steady breaths. Why did a supernatural need to breathe in the first place? You considered asking him, but⊠to be completely honest, you didnât feel like it. You were too tired to converse much more, your hand that was playing with Hanakoâs hair now resting atop his head.
âJust⊠we should make sure Iâm out of here before itâs too dark,â You spoke, after mustering up the energy. You didnât have any real reason to get home too quickly. Aside from maybe weirdos lurking in the darkâŠ
âHanako, did you hear me?â You added, looking down at the boyâs face.
âOh,â You thought, âheâs asleep. Already.â
You sighed, a smile forming on your face. âThen, before midnight will probably work.â
Shutting your eyes, you let the barely-there pressure of Hanako on you comfort you further. The silence was pleasant, the only sounds being the world outside of the window. A few more moments passed before you also drifted into a pleasant sleep.
---
You woke up slowly, trying to pinpoint where you were as the groggy confusion muddled your half-asleep brain. Looking down, you saw Hanako, and instantly felt safer. You were at school.
âHellooooo~,â Hanako sighed, wrapping his arms under your back and pressing his face into your chest. âHiiii,â You spoke, voice gravelly from just waking up. The warmth of the sunset could be felt against your skin, and you smiled at the fact that the day wasnât quite over.
Shutting your eyes once more, stretching instead of sleeping this time, you decided that staying until it was dark would be fine. Despite the uncomfortable-looking position, you were too comfortable to want to leave sooner than you had to.
Plus you werenât sure how well youâd get home with the feeling that often came with taking naps. Hanako was clearly feeling the same, as he sighed once more, mumbling into your shirt.
âHm?â You questioned, ruffling his hair lightly, then smoothing it back out.
âI love youuuuu,â He said, placing his arms crossed on your chest, then resting his head on his arms.
âI love you toooooo.â

Inseong
" Babe I can't figure out why the bluetooth speaker isn't working." You pouted.
" It was working fine when I used it in the morning. Ah! Yes. Maybe the charge is over. When was the last time you charged it?"
" I don't remember" You answered sheepishly.
" Try charging it my dear."
" Okay babe. Or should I call you 'Google' because you're everything I've been looking for."
Sighing in disappointment he looked down, shaking his head sideways.
" What! That wasn't so bad! "
" Do you really wanna know? "
" No." You stuck you tongue out at your boyfriend.
" You're cute"
Youngbin
" And then she went on about her vacations to Hawaii and the number of times she's been there. It was so annoying because all we were talking about were active volcanoes. There's one in Hawaii too and that's how-"
" Binnie you aren't listening to mee!" You whined.
" Sorry. You're just so cute it's distracting."
" Aish stop." Blushing, you pushed his chest lightly.
Chuckling he pulled you closer.
" Go on then. Continue your story."
" But you aren't paying attention." You smiled.
" I will now!" He gestured you to carry on with your story.
Jaeyoon
" Chocolate cake!! "
" From your favorite bakery too." Jae quipped in as you stared at your gift in awe.
" I wish someone looked at me the way I look at chocolate cake." You said sighing.
" I can look at you like that." He said engulfing your body into his, making you giggle.
" I meant in a way of wanting to completely devour it."
Smirking he gave you a knowing look. Biting his bottom lip, he leant down to kiss your collar bone. Gasping you try to push him away.
" I wanna eat my cake!" Laughing, you succeeded in pushing him off.
" But what about my cake?"
"JAE!"
Sanghyuk
Standing around the most boring people you huff in annoyance. Why did you have to wait here of all places to be picked up for your date. Just when you were about to check your phone, you saw him, the only star in your sky. Sanghyuk.
He looked around, clearly not able to find you. With mischief in mind, you placed your hand around your mouth, in an attempt to amplify your voice.
" You must be one hell of a theif because you stole my heart from across the room!" You said loud enough for everyone, including your lover to hear as you pointed your gaze and hand towards his direction.
Blushing furiously he walked over to you so fast he probably would've sprained his leg if he hadn't been careful.
" Hello lover." You raised your eyebrows smirking.
" As much as I love you I don't think this is a place for a very loud proclamation of love." He said, a smile dancing on his lips.
Shrugging you grabbed his hand made your way out, passing many jealous and judgy eyes.
Juho
" Babe babe babe!" He said rushing over to you from the group of people he was talking to.
" Is everything okay? Did you get that producer's number?" You asked.
" I did but that's not important."
" Okay what is? Did you forget the gift envelope?" You questioned disappointed.
" Noooo. That's not it. They may ask us time leave soon."
" What?! Why?"
" Because you are making the other people look bad." He finished smiling brightly.
" Aish. Really Ju?"
Grinning in triumph he kissed the top of your head, taking your hand to lead you to the dance floor.
SeokWoo
Typical. Of course they had to move your favorite cereal on the top shelf. Getting on your tippy toes you almost reached the box when you saw a hand, one all too familiar hand, reach up and take the box down for you.
" Is this what you wanted?" He asked smirking slightly.
" Are you a tower? Because Eiffel for you." You flirted looking up at your boyfriend.
" No I'm just really tall" He said cutely not knowing how to react to your compliment.
Grinning you take the box from his hand and put in the shopping cart. Looking around the aisle, noticing that no one is there you wrap your arms around your tall beauty. Looking up at his face smiling when he reciprocates the gesture you lean up to kiss him.
Yoo Taeyang
Waking from your nap, trying to figure out where you are, you realize that you are in your boyfriend's bed. Your thoughts interrupted when a sudden pang of pain grew in your head.
Great. A headache after a nap is just what you needed. Getting up to pee, your change into pajamas and venture out of the room towards the kitchen.
Might as well make coffee to control the headache from becoming a migraine. Stopping dead in your tracks at the entrance of the kitchen, you notice your lovely boyfriend standing at the stove, unmistakably making you coffee.
Looking up at you, after feeling stared at, he offers you a soft smile and a hand to take so you can cuddle into his side.
" Did the sun just come out or did you just smile at me?" You asked with a small smile that only he can bring about in you when you have a sore head.
" That's the oldest one in the book!" He said laughing as you hid your face in chest.
Youngkyun
" Oo babe check out these new jackets my mom sent!"
" Did she send me any?" He asked.
" No." You giggled as you tried one on.
" How does this look? It's kinda like the professional but not so professional type blazer. Don't you think?"
" It's lowkey casual. Try this one." Trying on the one he suggested you thought it was of a bigger size than yours.
" It's too big on me." You pouted.
" But you look nice in it. Like a baby."
" But the point is to look hot. Hot and beautiful too." You informed him.
" You know what you would look really beautiful in?"
" What? Is it in one of thes-"
" My arms." He said dramatically opening his arms. Rolling your eyes in playful disbelief you threw a nearby jacket at him.
Chani
" This is when he picked out his first tree all by himself." Chani's mom said pointing to a picture in the album that is situated on your lap.
Groaning he hid his face in your neck. Giggling you pet his head. Hearing the cooker whistle Chani's mom went to the kitchen.
" How come there isn't even one picture with you on top of a tree. I thought that's where angels were." You whispered to his ear. Lifting his head with a smirk he replied,
" Because I am the devil."
" Oh! Makes sense I guess. I mean, you are as hot as one." You winked.
" Ayy no!" He exclaimed blushing as you silently snickered knowing you won.

Hold Me Tighter ||3||
Pairing: Bucky x Reader
Summary: Peter and reader have a talk and Bucky overhears.Â
Warnings: Swearing I think? A big of angst, fluff, Buck jumping to conclusions bc heâs a soft dummie...
A/N: Hej hej friends, itâs been a bit since iâve posted something. My life has been wild and though iâve been working on various things I have yet to complete said various things. Hopefully posting this gets me back into the groove. Please enjoy and give me feedback as its very much appreciated!! <3
Part ||1||Â Â Part ||2||
~~~~~~
âDo you have an ace?âÂ
âNope, go fish,âÂ
âDo you have a crush on Bucky?âÂ
You almost drop your hand full of cards on the ground as the words leave the man's mouth.Â
âWha-Peter!âÂ
âWhat? It kinda looks obvious, on both sides, but itâs like you guys or holding back or something,â Peter shrugs nonchalantly as he plucks a card from the deck before laying down another set of matches.Â
You pout, âWhy are you so good at this game?âÂ
âAnswer my question first,â He laughs lightly while playfully nudging your shoulder with his fist.Â
You and Peter had been the ones left at the tower while the team was on their latest mission. You felt grateful for the company, or at least you did before he started asking questions while he taught you how to play various card games. The pair of you sat facing each other, legs crossed and knees almost touching as the deck of cards sat in the middle.Â
âI dunno⊠Maybe?â You could feel the fire in your cheeks and ears as you answered, forgetting to ask if Pete had a card and taking straight from the deck instead.Â
Peter smiled widely and set down the few cards he still had, putting his full attention on you, âThatâs great, Y/n! I think he likes you too! Why havenât you guys gotten together yet? You spend like every day with each other when Bucky isnât on a mission. He even cooks for you all the time and Iâve never seen him do that with anyone-âÂ
âPeter, it's not like that. Iâm pretty sure he just thinks of me as like⊠A charity case or something. Heâs helped me a lot since Iâve gotten here but it was solely because he felt obligated too. Kind of like when you find a puppy on the street,â You set your cards down to the side as well, using your free hands to nervously tangle your fingers together.Â
âThat's ridiculous! Y/n he calls you pet names all the time, he carries you around, I even saw him kiss your cheek before he left!â Peter points an accusatory finger at you.Â
Your eyes widen in shock and you stutter before responding, âWhy are you paying so much attention to us? Itâs weird how much you notice...And besides, lately he hasnât really been the same. He tells me that heâs always busy with training or meetings or something, and I get that it happens, especially with what you guys do! But it just feels like heâs been avoiding me lately,âÂ
âThe whole team has noticed! You guys have done almost everything but make it official,â The man sighs exasperatedly before leaning forward and pressing his forehead against yours, a silly habit the two of you developed for serious conversations, making you giggle a bit before pushing back, âYou should talk with him about it dude,â
You keep your forehead pressed against Pete's, sighing quietly before responding, âI just think⊠If he doesnât feel the same way, then everything is going to change. He wonât want to spend time with me anymore, or talk to me, he wonât wanna watch movies with me⊠He just- he wonât be able to think of me as more than just the silly mutant thatâs been obsessed with him for as long as sheâs known him,â Your face had scrunched up into a scowl as you thought about what life would be like without Bucky by your side.Â
âHey, hey, hey! He wonât do that, I promise. Bucky isnât like that, heâd never just start to ignore you or think of you as some obsessed girl. Itâs obvious he cares about you a lot, and I think it would be good for both of you to talk about it,âÂ
âI wouldnât even know where to start-â
âStart with how you feel, put it all out in the open,â Pete says confidently.
âThatâs crazy!â
âHow is it crazy?âÂ
âI canât just go up to him and say, âHey I donât know if youâve noticed but Iâve been deeply enthralled and have wanted to be with you since the first time we met!ââÂ
Peter was about to respond, but a deep voice interrupted, âY/n?â
You and Pete pull your heads apart and gape at the tall brunette standing in the doorway, his eyebrows pulled together in a frown and his eyes full of confusion. âBucky I-âÂ
He puts a hand up before you can continue, âI um-I gotta go shower. Sorry I interrupted you guys,âÂ
You sat frozen on the floor as Bucky quickly made his exit, Peter switching his gaze between you and the now empty doorway. âOh my god-â he muttered in absolute bewilderment.
âWh-what just happened? What should I do? Oh my god he hates me! Heâll never speak to me again-âÂ
âNo! No, no, no itâs fine! Just a misunderstanding! You need to go after him and clear it up,â Peter tells you, hurriedly standing up before grabbing your hands and helping you stand. âYou need to tell him everything Y/n. *Everything.*âÂ
You nod your head in agreement, starting for the doorway, âThanks pete, Iâll see you later,âÂ
Peterâs response doesnât quite register as you quickly walk down the maze of hallways, trying to find the fastest possible route to Buckyâs room. Your heart felt like it was pounding hard enough to escape your chest.Â
You let out a yelp as you suddenly hit a wall, âOh hey kid, you seen Barnes yet? He was lookin for ya,â Tonyâs hands are on each of your arms to steady you as he begins to ask how your week with Peter went.Â
You canât focus on any of his questions, solely focused on fixing the mess you had made.Â
âKid? You okay?â Tony steps closer to you, his overbearing father coming out as he reaches up to check your temperature, âhmm maybe we should get you to med, you feel a little hot,âÂ
âTony Iâm fine-â You try and back out of his grasp but he holds onto you firmly.Â
âHey if youâre gettinâ a fever we want to catch it quick-âÂ
âI donât have a fever, please-âÂ
âCâmon, itâll only take a minute,â
âOh my god, goodbye!â You huff out before pushing Tony away from you and using your power to disappear from the hallway.Â
Tony lets out an annoyed sigh, âIf you get anyone else sick youâre the one whoâs taking care of them!â he shouts into the empty space.Â
You however, had already popped up outside of Buckyâs door, your hands clenched into fists of stress and nerves. Your right hand went to open the door but when you tried to twist the handle it didnât budge.Â
âFriday can you let me in?â
âMr. Barnes has specified to not be bothered for the time being,â The AI responded simply.Â
You let out a huff of frustration, âOkay well itâs either you unlock the door and let me in or I just pop up in there, soâŠâ
There was a moment of silence before you heard the quiet click of the door unlocking, making you smile victoriously, âThank you, Friday,âÂ
Bucky was still in the bathroom with the door closed when you had entered his room. You took a quick look around before deciding to sit on the bed and wait for him to be done. Your fingers began to tangle and pull at themselves in a stressful manner and you couldnât help the tight feeling in your chest. It only got worse when you heard the running water turn off and the sound of Bucky drying and dressing himself.Â
When Bucky opens the door, the both of you freeze in place, eyes locked on to each other for what felt like ages.Â
Bucky is the first to break eye contact and move, âI thought I told Friday I didnât want any visitors,â he mumbles quietly, going over to toss the damp towel in his hands into a laundry hamper.
âI uh- I told her I would just pop in anywaysâŠâÂ
âShouldnât invade people's privacy like that, kid,â his cold tone made you cringe, âcanât start abusing your power like that,â
âListen Bucky, I came here to explain-âÂ
âYou donât gotta explain anything to me. I saw what I saw, itâs not a big deal,â he interrupts you and avoids your eyes as he begins to unpack from his mission.Â
âExcept I think you might not understand entirely-â you begin only to be interrupted again.Â
âNo! No, I get it. Pete is a good kid, good morals, good background. I can see why youâd like him, it makes sense,â Buckyâs voice was clearly stressed as he spoke and it just made your chest tighten even more.Â
âBucky no-âÂ
âHeâs closer to your age, you have a lot in common, spend a lot of time togetherâŠâ
âWhy is everyone interrupting me today?â you groan out in frustration before getting up off of the bed and walking over to the disgruntled man.Â
You move to sit on the other side of the duffle bag he continues to empty, still avoiding your eyes. You let out a huff of annoyance and quickly grab hold of Bucky's hands, bringing them to a pause.Â
âKid, I gotta unpack-â
âNo. Not until you let me say what I need to say. Without interrupting me,â You state firmly.
Bucky visibly clenches his jaw, giving you a small nod to continue, âYou didnât hear me say those words to Peter-âÂ
âYes I di-â âWhat did I just say? No interruptions!âÂ
Bucky sighs, âSorry,âÂ
You take another breath before restarting, âYou didnât hear me say those words to Peter. You heard me telling him about what Iâd say to someone else,âÂ
Buckyâs face scrunches up in confusion as he replays your words in his head, trying to put the pieces together, but failing. âWho were you going to say-âÂ
âYou! Ya big dummy. I was telling Peter what I would say to you,â You blurt out with a breath of exasperation.Â
Bucky shook his head, as if to try and wake himself up from a daydream, âAre you serious?â
âYes! Of course I am, Buck. I- Peter said that it would be good for the both of us if I admitted my true feelings for you, and I didnât know what I would say, so he suggested that I just flat out tell you, andâŠâ You trail off, hoping the older can figure out the rest on his own.Â
âAnd thatâs when I walked in? When you had figured out what exactly youâd say?âÂ
âMore or less, yeah,â you answer quietly, giving Buckyâs hands a gentle squeeze to try and bring even more reassurance.Â
âWhy were you so close to each other?â You looked back up to Bucky, a smile gracing your features as his gaze finally met yours.Â
âBecause we were having a serious discussion. Isnât that what everyone does?â You ask, brows slightly knit in confusion.
Bucky chuckles and shakes his head, âNo I think thatâs only you two,âÂ
âOhâŠâÂ
The two of you sit in silence for a few minutes, mulling over what youâd like to say next and trying to organize your thoughts. When Bucky didnât say anything for a while you decided to continue on, âSo um...Do you maybe uh-maybe do you feel the same way? About me?â
Bucky doesnât even wait a beat to answer, âOh my god yes! Yes Iâve felt the same way for ages, doll!âÂ
Your eyes widen in disbelief as you take in the new information, âYou have?â
Bucky nods his head, a smile on his face as he looks into your eyes, âSweetheart Iâve been head over heels for you since I first caught you in midair,ïżœïżœ he chuckles.Â
You grin at Bucky and feel the familiar flickering of your powers take place, knowing your emotions were much too strong to stop it. Within the blink of an eye you had popped out of existence and popped right back up into Buckyâs lap, making him fall over in a huff of laughter.Â
You wrap your arms around his neck and bury your face into the softness of his hair, âWhat gives then you goof? Why didnât you say anything?âÂ
Bucky wraps his arms around your waist and gives you a tight squeeze, âOnce you started gettinâ the hang of your powers and began training with the rest of the team, I dunno⊠It felt like you didnât need me there for you anymore, I didnât want to risk holding you back from making new friends and connections,â Your heart split in two hearing Buckyâs explanation.
You pull your face out of his lovely smelling hair and stare into the soldier's pretty blue eyes, âThatâs silly Bubba. You would never hold me back! Youâre the reason why Iâm so comfortable around everyone now. You gave me the strength to get out of my comfort zone,â Bucky grinned at your words and shook his head, mentally chiding himself for being so foolish.Â
âMâsorry lovie, I guess I got in my own head about everything. Almost messed it all up too because I got so upset when I saw you and Peter,â Your chest swelled with happiness when he calls you one of your favorite nicknames, knowing the two of you were back to normal.Â
âItâs okay! I can understand why you thought what you did. But I promise Iâve only ever been deeply enthralled with you,â You laugh and push your forehead up against Buckyâs, making him let out a deep melody of chuckles.Â
âDoes this mean I donât have to hold back anymore? I can love on you as much as I want?â Bucky pairs his question with an affectionate nuzzle in the crook of your neck before looking back up into your gleeful eyes.Â
You giggle and brush your nose up against his as you nod your head, âYou coulda done that before,âÂ
Buckyâs hands move from around your waist to your thighs, easily lifting the both of you up from the plush carpet, âMânever lettinâ you go ever again. Gonna hold on real tight, sweet girl.âÂ
You keep your arms wrapped around his neck and try to pull Bucky closer, burying your face back into the crook of his neck and breathing him in. He moves the two of you over to his bed and flops down onto it, pulling the both of you under the covers and tangling his legs with yours. The two of you stay like that for what feels like ages.
A perfectly content tangle of happiness and relief.Â
okey dokey! I'm gonna be a father!
Requesting pregnant reader scenarios, wanna see more of the guysâ duality balancing domesticity and impending fatherhood, and running the world, ya know đđŸđđ€đ Just throwing the idea out there since you said we could. Yâknow things like âIâm trying to leave to set up a meeting but her back is sore & she wants ice cream so one of u needs to suddenly be available. nowâ & other things ig. I imagined Ty Kun, John Jae or Kun in as leader & probably hc or jaemin as the wife-sitters (lol)
Since you didnât specify the unit,I did this with the few members from hyung line. This got so long that I ran out of ideas so let me know if you want me to write for some other members. though j incorporated your ideas but i based it on the concept of them managing the treats in both hands. This is my first time doing reactions so leave some feedback if you wish! Have a nice day everybody.
(7 members) Ft. Taeil, johnny, taeyong, yuta, ten, jaehyun + kun
TAEILÂ
"Let me message you back!" Taeil whispered into the phone and raised his body to observe your sleeping form. Your head was securely resting on his arm and he let out a relieved sigh as it was one of the few Lucky days when you were not thrashing around in your sleep. Day after day, you were getting uncomfortable with your heavy belly and all he could ever do was keep you company in your frustrations. He couldn't risk waking you up so he tried his best to complete the task in the painful position. He fidgeted with the phone for it was impossible to handle a 6 inch of metal device with one hand. Struggling with the grip for a few more seconds, he finally managed to send johnny a message regarding the inquiry.
Ask tae He has ab eztra key 2 my ofice.
Maybe he should turn his autocorrect on for situations like this!
Thinking his work was done, he locked the phone. just when he was about to put it on the nightstand on a blind guess, it vibrated again!Â
John: He is out! You need to come asap.
He stopped to watch out for any movement from your side and when there was none, he shifted to his phone again.
Nt my pblm.Â
He couldn't understand why johnny was being so persistent when everyone was under strict orders to not call him after 10 p.m unless someone was dying!
John: Jungwoo is in trouble with police. I need his fake ID!
Taeilâs scoffed a bit too loudly causing you to stir. He paused in his actions only to continue when he noticed your even breathing. Weighing the options, he concluded that Jungwoo must have forgotten to pay for the food again or something like that otherwise if it was work related then johnny would have been screaming at his door and not through the phone.
Not his 1st time. dw too much. Jst send him some food so he wont cry like last tym.
He deserved that much punishment! With that he switched the device off and wrapped his arm around your waist, returning to the warmth he got to experience only at night times.
JOHNNY
You were on edge since the day you got yourself tested. You could blame it on the suddenly changing hormones or the never present johnny but one thing was sure that you were missing him more than ever. Johnny on the other hand, avoided going back home for the sole reason of finding himself incapable of taking care of you and his dangerous job. Thatâs why he had assigned hendery to be at your beck and call. He was a medic and since the other medical emergencies could be handled by xiaojun and renjun, hendery had no problem in spending some time with you. His company was full of funny stories of other members and silly jokes. Despite his endless efforts to distract you, the thought that your daughterâs father was missing the growth of his own child always remained at the back of your head. You couldnât understand how all of a sudden his workload had increased so much that he barely had any time to even see your face let alone talk to you for a few minutes. But all your worries vanished the day he returned and sarcastically ordered hendery to show his donkey self out of his house to never come back again.
âI managed to prepone some important weapon dealsâ, he bowed gracefully to acknowledge his own achievements, making you chuckle at him, âand Iâve been rewarded with three months of holidays so I shall be spending these months making up for the lost time and creating new memoriesâ he completed, kissing your forehead.
"I never said I need you 24/7. A few hours at most would do John" you said, knowing how his absence would affect the black neos.Â
"Yeah. But then I realised what if my baby girl mistakes hendery for her father. Can't let that happen now yeah!"Â
Masked under jokes, you were very well aware of the real reasons behind the toil he had subjected himself to! It was all for you and your baby girl and you knew he would do it again and again even if it meant the end of his life!
TAEYONG
 From sharp cold deadly glare to the dragon tattoo that adorned his neck and arms, fellow criminals had every reason to fear this man. His name, in the underworld, screamed cursed royalty. But that was Lee taeyong, leader of black neos.
The taeyong standing right in front of you, struggling with multiple boxes of boards was anything but scary. Cladded in baby blue hoodie and black boxers, he was reading the manual, knocking down the structure again and again as he repeatedly found something missing from it.Â
"Leave it tae. I can complete this later on. Come and eat now." You whined and suggested while taking bites from the creamy pasta he had prepared earlier.Â
"what do you mean i can complete this later on. Do you find me incapable of making a crib?"
Yes you did!
But that was not the answer you could give when he was clearly trying his hardest. It was indeed baffling as to why the man who could assemble a weapon with his left hand was unable to join the pieces of a crib with both!
"No tae. You were out for three days so maybe you are just too tired to concentrate!" You explained in the politest way possible that clearly didn't reach him properly. He let out an audible gasp at what felt for him to be the accusatory tone.
"Eat your pasta and watch me complete this in half an hour! You'd regret saying that to me!"
Why was he the one with mood swings?
Just like other bubbling thoughts, you gulped down this one too and nodded enthusiastically, giving him a thumbs up as if you would never doubt his capabilities.
But you knew, he might have started the task but he was surely not going to be the one to complete it!
YUTA
âHow about sakura?â hyuck suggested. Looks of disapproval were exchanged across the room and sound of mark hitting hyuckâs arm resonated in the living room.
âCliche!â jaehyun laughed.
âYes. We aren't naming our daughter sakura and that is final. Sheâs one of a kind and her name should also be!â you announced your arrival in the room and sat on the floor, making yourself comfortable between yutaâs legs. He wrapped his arms around your belly before leaning his neck to greet you with a sweet cheek kiss.
âYes. What y/n wants, y/n gets. No sakura!â he held his one hand up in the air, forbidding any further discussion on the name.
"That's not fair!" Hyuck whined only to be dismissed by a wave from you.
"Just because it's not hyuck's choice doesn't mean that you have got right to choose by yourself. The baby is a part of this family so we get to decide what's best for her!" Ten exclaimed loudly getting everyoneâs attention.
âHow about ayaka?â kun suggested, entering the room with a trolley full of snacks. As the recommendations poured in, the snacks were passed to everyone. Days like these were rare and from the past two months, these rare days were spent daydreaming about the very first child in the black neos house.
âAkira? Itâs quite universal you know.â mark joined in, reading the meaning of the name in different cultures and languages.
âHaruâ
âNo kai!âÂ
Somewhere in the conversation, yutaâs hands had travelled from your tummy to your sides. He knew the little brushes of his fingers had started to work on you as you swatted his hand away with yours. It only encouraged him and he tickled you on your sides more and more, getting the desired reaction. Your body being more sensitive and responsive than usual, you wiggled in his arms and squealed loudly enough to get everyoneâs attention. Suddenly his hands stopped as he heard a whiny shout.
âWhy are you bugging her?â hyuck hollered, âcanât you sit still for once? Let her breathe for a freaking second. You wanna tickle! Tickle me. Come tickle me but Donât bother her!âÂ
You were aware of hyuckâs sudden outbursts of protection for you but this was truly something new! And you new tickles were not the reasoning behind his irritation. Sakura was!
âLe-letâs play a gameâ, kun interrupted before haechanâs frustration would land him into some trouble with the elder, âweâll write all the suggestions into paper and whichever y/n chooses would be final. How does it sound?âÂ
Everyone hummed along to the idea. Looking over at Hyuck, you noticed a sudden glint in his eyes that spoke trouble. He was clearly planning something evil and until it was all fun and games, you had no trouble for his intentions.
âSince when did you get a bodyguard hmm?â yuta whispered, planting another wet kiss on your right cheek.Â
âYua.â you said.
âWhat?â
âWe are naming her yua! When are you gonna tell them that iâve already decided!â leaning backwards, you said in a hushed voice meant only for his ears.
âWhen they are tired enough to play any more games. Till then, letâs have fun. Look at hyuck, heâs surely gonna cheat and mark and renjun are going to strangle him.â yuta chuckled against your ear, making you laugh again. Life was good!
TEN
âXiaojun! Xiaojun! Show yourself you good for nothing potato!â you winced at the volume of tenâs voice. Even though he was outside the room, his vocals were irritating. But you held your tongue from scolding him as he was the only one you could rely on at the moment.Â
âXia-
âDid bella bite you again? why are you shouting at-â xiaojun squinted at the wall clock and adjusted his glasses, âat 5:30a.m?â
âHalf of the world is up you hibernating bear! y/n is craving ice-cream. You know better than to refuse her so go to her. Your service starts right now.âÂ
Xiaojun scoffed and remained glued to the stairs. Ten raised a brow questioning him but instead of answering him xiaojun came up with one of his own.
âAnd why arenât you going?âÂ
âSwitchblade prince is called so I gotta go. I donât think you want her to wait!.â
Xiaojun groaned when ten shot him a wink and left the living room. Of course he had no trouble in tending to your demands which as a medic, he understood very well but tenâs cockiness wasnât something he was ever ready to handle.
ây/n! What does our prince wanted to eat this early in the morning?â he smiled at you, plopping down on the edge of the bed.
âApples and bananas.âÂ
âI meant what ice cream flavour do you want?â
âIce cream? Who said ice cream? I want bananas.â you answered him, confused at his confusion!
It was only then that xiaojun realised that switchblade prince was never called in the first place. Ten had fled. Due to fruits! He was contemplating as to what extent he should be manipulating tenâs words while telling you about his betrayal when you spoke up.
âUmm. i guess we can eat mint chocolate as well. Iâll eat a banana chocolate sandwich first then we can both watch a movie and finish the ice cream. What do you say?â
Ok! Maybe revenge could wait. Ice cream would be a priority here!Â
JAEHYUN
If your husband was cocky, you were seriously too many steps ahead of him and it has taken only 10 days for jaemin to realise that you were just jae's cup of tea and no one else's, at least not as a 4 months pregnant woman.Â
"Why are you sitting on the floor?" Jaehyun laughed at jaemin sprawled on the floor like a toddler.Â
"Noona screamed at me" jaemin mumbled, hiding his face in his neck.
"Oh jaemin! Why did she do it? Were you teasing her again. You know that she doesn't take sarcasm too we-
"No. She threw up the food i made for her and that too thrice since yesterday. I got angry so i told her to eat up or else i won't be making anymore for her. She threw the pillow at me and ordered me to never talk to her again! I mean it's not like i was showing real anger! She's hungry since yesterday. If she won't eat up then she'd be sick. What did I do wrong! Now I made her favourite pasta and she won't open the door for me."
Jaehyun sighed and crouched down to jaemin's level. He knew your emotions weren't in your control anymore but jaemin wasn't wrong either. He was just doing what was right for you and unintentionally, you had ended up hurting the poor boy. Jaehyun patted jaemin's hair before he told him to inform taeyong about his possible absence from the upcoming meetings and activities.
"You can't do that." Jaemin said the obvious.
"Do you want her to eat or not!" Jaemin frantically nodded at him before running off to the main office.
Heating up the pasta, jaehyun made his way to your shared bedroom in black neos.Â
"Baby open up it's me!" He knocked at the door and hearing his voice,you immediately opened it.Â
"You are here!" You exclaimed, feeling beads of moisture in the corner of your eyes.
"Aww. Now is not the time to cry." He cooed, entering the room with the tray. Placing it on the coffee table, he turned around and hugged you just the way he missed you.
"I'm sorry for being occupied and only coming back at night. But I'm here for a few days so let's get you all happy like a seal!" He laughed, ruffling your hair.
"I-i yelled at jaemin for no reason." You confessed not being aware that he was already filled in by the younger boy.Â
"You wanna apologize?" You nodded as he squished your cheeks in his hands and leaned in to kiss your pouty lips.Â
"Later on! Now's the time for evening lunch and getting this food in your tummy without it backfiring!"Â
You laughed at how smoothly he eased your worries. After eating properly, you apologised to jaemin which he accepted but not before crying like a little boy he was!
Bonus :
KUN
"Yangyang what the heck are you doing near y/n. I told you to keep your meaningless books away from her!" Kun felt like his blood pressure would shot up anytime soon.
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh really? What's the book that you are reading to her?"
"How to walk like a pro when you are only 2 months old! I want the baby to be high class like me."
Kun's hands found refuge in his hair as he groaned at the boy. Now he needed to read all the books that could possibly reverse yangyang's teachings.
"There is no such book available."
"Yeah that's why i wrote it by myself. Pulled an all nighter but when the baby would start walking at only 2 months of age, you'd thank me!"
Hey guys!!! Thanks to our lovely anon/blog historian, Soupy, we now have a recorded history!! Blog lore, my beloved. I'll try and start adding in our new things too, but to any newbies out there, come take a look :):):):)
About the lore for this blog, i cannot remember everything, but i can do something about the cursed asks lore and history, since i just scrolled all the posts in the tags!
31 Jan 2021: an anonymous send an ask asking what people actually mean when they tell a ship if "pedophilic". This start a big number of asks about real survivor and how fucked up is fandom water down the word, purity culture, and consequently story time about harassing people in fandom for purity culture.
1 Feb 2021: someone speak about how much fucked up fics helped them. This probably opened the possibility of cursed asks. The same day, someone other send an ask about a terrible person known for harassing people about the sexuality of a character. The person is called "train fucker".
2 Feb 2021: anonymous point the attention on the train fucking thing. The cursed ask tag is created.
In the following hours, always in the cursed ask tag, people discover the fandom was Death Note and the guy was apparently in real attracted to trains and planes. Hell break down, memes are created.
History is made.
One of the characters will later become protagonists of the tag already existed. PKD already was knew since the 22 Jan 2021, when they sent an ask about the color asks and you had the intuition the tags he was probably someone with a piss kink and the tag "chronicles of piss" was created.
Cursed ask history part 2:
At this moment on time,the tags is still not clearly used. One of the First post tagged as such, the 9th Feb, is an anon answering to the ear fucking conversation about micropenis, while all the other posts are not tagged. The day after PKD enter the cursed asks tag, while the others ask still stay out of it. People start sending the stories they read.
12 Feb Hagrid/Hedwig fics are discovered. Owl fucking anon appear. Someone suggest a friendship between them and mlp guy.
Also mlp pony guy is a lore being who did not appear before in the #cursed asks, but already had their history in the simpler ask tag and in the previous cancel scale period, that we could call the ancestor of #cursed ask.
The First post tagged as cancel scale is from the 2nd Jan 2021. It was an anon answering your post of the same day "alright guys scale 1-10 how screwed r u if it ao3 history and bookmarks get released".
This is the gold era of this blog lore. The philanthropist, wound fucking discourse, rpf bdsm and mlp guy (with the first ask behind paywall) appeared during the first month and a half of the year, mixing at the end with the cursed ask tag.
Cursed ask history part 3:
The philanthropist appeared the same day #the cancel scale started. With their iconic "i am a shameless philanthropist and so my bookmarks are public. I eat dead doves for breakfast. Come on down to the buffet y'all! You want some wound fucking? 8-yr-old omega abortion? I got you fam, watch me scramble these eggs" they left a forever sign in this blog. Still to this days asks are written to know if they are good. They obtained a 12/10 in the cancel scale.
Wound fucking discourse started, also the same day, by CB answering "is that where the wound fucking comes in??" At a ask about vivisection and medical experimentation. Discourse about what classify as a wound and how it works continued trought the day.
Rpf bdsm is thought to have beat the philanthropist with their mix of rape, underage, incest in a foursome, huge age, rpf tentacles and, mostly, someone getting turned into a pickle and his partner fucking himself with it.
This also started a string of asks about people being transformed in object used for sex.
Rpf bdsm would appear again later that day to specify the pickle fic was a rpf.
Cursed ask history part 4 (i think? Already lost the count)
Mlp guy. The one and only. Always in the terrible 2 Jan 2021, they first appeared in the tags of an answer to a marvel ask. #Hey HEY mlp guy #u know who u r #i'm afraid to look at this ask #like yeah we saw some shit tonight but this blows that outta the fuckin WATER #y'all would dead ass have to pay me to post it
Someone noticed the tags and asked about it, and a strong sexual tension between everyone and the unpublished mlp ask started. Someone ended up paying, cause the ask was later published as last post of the day and terrorized every follower of the blog. It was published as screenshot of the ask, and is not even put in the #cancel scale.
MLP guy stayed so in the apex of the cursed asks for some months, till the Pokémon ask by soupy was published the 9th may 2021, taking home a 15/10. MLP guy made a Tumblr profile, @therealmlpguy, in retiliation, and reblogged answering with a new terribly cursed fic. CB have still not voted it, so who have the worst cursed ask is still in question.
The day of #cancel scale the blog fanficmemes lost many followers, but the story was, as we know, not finished.
Cursed ask history part 5
I like to stay an half cryptid of this blog, so i will not tell my blog of origin, but i can tell you I am Soupy. Also i need to know if i am actually considered a cryptic of the blog and if i need to make a lore post about myself XD.
This is starting to get hard cause i cannot reread what i already sent, but the end of the tunnel is near.
We already told about owl fucking anon in the cursed ask tag, but their story is a bit more longer. The cursed ask was actually their big return, and they are probably one of the most proficious lore making, having also a part in the creation of the PKD legend. They should really have their own tag.
How? Well.
The 17 Jan 2021, when the big part of the cancel scale was done and the elders of the lore created, they sent an anon ask about what the cancel scale made them remember. It was a fic, red when they were ten or eleven, about someone fucking an owl while the owl was on their period. Consensual, and apparently the authors were two teen girl who write only character x owl. Their mom proofread. CB answered with their profile picture, edited so that it red "i can't believe it's gotten even worse!" Instead of "i can't believe it's not canon".
This post created, if we want to say, PKD, cause their first ask, that assigned them piss kink, was yes about the color asks (that, in case someone does not remember, was CB asking what colors people assigned to them), but had as explanation "if you keep posting stuff like the owl period whatever". So the owl fucking anon indirectly created, the 22 Jan 2021, PKD.
Owl fucking anon continued their ascension to lore of the blog.
The 12th Feb 2021 sent an ask were they were surprised someone had found Hagrid x Hedwing fics, and than sent anther 9 parts ask about the story of how they red lot of cursed shits thanks to an old tumblr blog that had the links, and how from there they found an author who only published Hagrid x Hedwing, and how that introduced them to FF smut.
(it is also discovered they are only 15, baby, please, i am noone to talk with the shits i red at the time but i hope you are ok).
They are now consacrated in the memory of the blog.
Cursed ask history part 6
Before continuing with the history of the cursed asks, is now time to finally give a small talk about PKD. We know how they originated, but how they become so famous?
Probably is the fact they appeared so many time during the last months. Being it for cancel scale, cursed asks or just normal asks, they continue to give us company with their exploration of piss kink fic. Is true they soundly negate having the kink the first months, but after lot of memes and people speaking about it, the 25 Apr 2021 they finally admitted of having the kink,and discovered it reading an a/b/o Captain America fic.
I would suggest to read all the posts, but they stopped being tagged halfway through, so is half in the specific #chronicles of piss and half in the #cursed ask
Cursed ask history part 7
The big lore is finished, and now only the later history stay.
#cancel scale posts and #cursed asks post lived side by side for some days. The owl fucking one of the 12 Feb was actually the last cursed fic published in the cancel scale post, leaving the tag only for some history reference later.
#cursed asks saw the appearence of every type of cursed possible to thought, with scat and nipple fucking between the different tags. At the start there was no specific day chosen, but later, for CB schedule reasons, Saturday was assigned as cursed ask day, and some week later it was moved to Sunday.
And here we are, today, to see what other cursed things we will bring in this world
Cursed fic History part 8
The cursed fic History have been covered, but i still think is important to talk about some of the before time tags that created the good ecosystem for the creation of #cursed ask.
The most famous is #the lube discussion.
It started the 23 Aug 2020, when CB wrote a post about FF using the word "supple" in smut without the thing being actually supple. In the tag, they added #also #that does Not work as lube.
Some anon asked what was being used as lube, that was answered with "one was peanut butter. I will not discuss the other". This started the bug lube discussion, were everyone talked about what they continingly see used as lube when it cannot be used as lube.
Between the classics soap and blood, we see some more daring one as mud, yogurt, aloe vera, years, milk, hot sauce and the more intersting, cannoli (have no idea if they are talking about the cream you put in cannoli or some american thing i don't know).
Nothing reached cursed material, but it put the first seed for the blog.
#blog lore#my dearest soup#my response to your first letter will be posted swiftly#I got distracted bc I forgot that we donât know each other irl#and I was gonna press some flowers for u#(theyâre still being pressed but Iâll send a pic I forgot that I canât send real flowers over text#but again thank you so much for doing this#also I really wish I wouldâve tagged shit better#maybe I wanted to go back and reread chronicles of piss#but nooooooo I just had to forget about it halfway through#anyways here we go#cursed asks#the lube discussions#chronicles of piss
A Bench And Piece of Parchmentâs Length Away
requested: yess
Cedric Diggory x Ravenclaw!Fem!reader (i just noticed you hadn't specified fem! or not in your request so youâd like me to change it please let me know ill be more than happy to do it!!)
Summary: Cedric likes Y/n, a lot. But every time he tries to talk to her the universe just seems to have other plans, maybe this time he's found a loophole...
Warnings: mentions of vomitingÂ
Word count: 2571 (i got a tad carried away)
This one is sO cute I really love this one, thank you for requesting
â§â§â§
The first time Cedric tried asking you out didnât go over so smoothly. It had been a month or so before the Yule Ball and he needed a date, naturally you were first to come to mind. The Hufflepuff had harbored an intense, often even painful, crush on you ever since McGonagall pulled you up in front of the transfiguration class as a âmodel studentâ. That was third year, now halfway into his sixth, he had to do something about his feelings.
You were sitting with Cho Chang, a housemate of yours, and he couldnât help but think obviously the universe wanted this to happen because why else would you be sitting, practically alone, just waiting for him to come sweep you off your feet.
He had gotten a bit too cocky.
It was on his way to you, stepping with the utmost swagger, that he noticed Lee Jordan also seemed to be sauntering in your direction and he was significantly closer than Cedric was. Suddenly his walk seemed to lose all of its swagger and he picked up his pace, glaring at the Gryffindor.
Cedric still had hope when Lee reached you first, maybe he wasnât going to ask you to the ba-
Why were you smiling?
You were being polite right? Thatâs it you were just polite, he still had his chance.
Not nodding, why have you started to nod your head?
Cedric knew he shouldâve turned around but he just couldnât, his feet wouldnât let him. His was within earshot now and people had noticed him, he couldn't just turn around now.
â-love to go with you Lee.â
Oh how he wished heâd just disappear, transfigure into a leaf or something and get carried away by the wind.
And Merlin, now you're turning to look at him
Think Cedric
Thin-
âCho!â He all but shouted, gaining the attention of not only you and Lee, but also anyone else within a five foot radius.
âCedric, you alright?â Cho smiled up at him kindly.
That was how he ended up asking Cho Chang to the Yule Ball. He felt terrible about it, really, Cho was beautiful, and she was smart, and kind, but she just wasnât you. Cedric had rushed away from the scene so fast, rather embarrassed, he failed to notice the way your mood had dropped and the look Cho gave you after Lee had left.
--
From that point on he was sure talking to you just wasnât meant to be, now preferring to watch you from the sidelines. It was a rough week for him following the Yule Ball when Lee seemed to always be just right beside you, luckily Cedric hadnât had to endure it long.
It was a sunny Wednesday, rather warm, when he got his bright idea. He and his group of friends had been lounging, quite ungracefully, at a bench in the courtyard. It was only when you walked over to them that he popped looking a bit disheveled, his robes a tad askew.
âHey Y/n.â He put on his most charming smile.
You met his eyes and Cedric swore you grew more beautiful by the day.
âHi Cedric, sorry to bother but I left my book under the bench yesterday. I just wanted to grab it and Iâll be out of your hair.â
Cedric realized what had happened immediately. They had sat on your bench, well not yours, but there was an unspoken agreement between you and your friends that this bench was the bench youâd all meet at and now he had parked his own behind on it.
âOh, oh, right.â He was quick to reach down and grab your book scolding himself in the process. He shouldâve known it was your book, let alone your bench, he had only watched you sit on it and keep your book under for picking it up on your way to class the next day (lightens the load he presumes) for months now.
He handed you the book and it seemed as if a lightbulb went off. You left your book here, in the courtyard, it was perfect.
Cedric was up, probably most of the night, writing his letter to you. His dorm mates having retired with grunted goodnights, not really caring who he was sending what seemed like a novel of a letter to.
Three broken quills, five pieces of parchment thrown in the rubbish bin, and one ink bottle spill later...he was done. He sealed it carefully and placed it under his pillow hoping heâd catch at least a few hours of sleep before lessons in the morning.
--
It was like clockwork really. He made sure his friends avoided the bench, watched as you strutted your way to the bench, met with your friends before your next lesson, and just before leaving, you hid your book behind one of the thick legs of the bench.
Perfect
He told his friends to go on without him, heâd dropped something and heâd be just a moment. His look around your bench with a feigned expression of curiosity and frustration was enough for his friends to believe what he was saying, or they didnât have the heart to tell him he wasnât that great of an actor. Either way, they let him be.
Cedric worked quickly, he pulled out the book from its hiding spot with a small smile, heâd make sure to hold your books for you when (he was certain it was destined) you fell in love with him. He tucked his letter behind the front cover and placed it back into its spot, waiting for you to come grab it in the morning on your way to History of Magic.
--
This morning had been rough for you, your tie did not want to cooperate and now sat crooked enough to drive you mad, and to make matters worse you were late to your History of Magic class. You had grabbed your textbook from under the bench, it was thick and you always hated carrying it hence, the bench, and grumbled your way to class. Upon arrival you were regretfully informed of your five minutes of absence, luckily Professor Binns was feeling generous and let you off with a warning.
You plopped down into your seat and threw open the cover of your book with some dramatics, but you werenât expecting the book to retaliate and spit an envelope into your lap. Â Professor Binns assigned reading from the textbook and you were quick to get it done before you examined the letter further.
The front of the envelope was bare, not a scratch of ink present which only ignited your curiosity. Fumbling, you finally got it open without drawing any attention to yourself and unfolded the letter. The handwriting was neat, uniform, and without a doubt, belonging to a boy.
Dear Y/n,
I hope this letter finds you well, and Merlin I hope it doesnât rain or else this would be a mess. If everything has worked in my favor, and I pray it does, and you are reading this then I would like you to know how incredibly captivating I find you. Youâre quite the sight, I must say, but more than that you are kind and witty. You are smart and confident, in the best, most attractive way possible.
Iâve watched you a lot, wait, no that sounds awfully creepy. I swear Iâm not some old prat, or one of the professors. What I was meaning to say was that Iâve admired your beauty from afar for quite some time and it seems as though anytime I try to talk to you face to face things never seem to go as Iâve planned them, so Iâm hoping this letter is a bit like a loophole.
Regardless, beauty, grace, and brains like yours deserve to be not only noticed, but complimented. And with the barrier of this parchment, I am not as nervous to tell you, but Iâve fallen in love with you, all of you. I do hope one day Iâd be able to hear the same confession fall from your lips in my direction.
All my love,
Badger
Suddenly, your morning wasnât so bad. Your stomach felt very airy and your face hot, you looked around to make sure no one had noticed just how flustered you became. Luckily, no one did and you were able to put the note into your bag discreetly, just before class was over.
On your way to your next class you thought about who it could be, Badger, what an awfully unique name to go by. The gears in your brain start to turn, it had to be a clue, but what did badger have anything to do-
Hufflepuff.
Your secret admirer was obviously a Hufflepuff and your heart leaped at the idea of it possibly being Cedric Diggory. You had strategically picked the bench where your friends meet you to be the one closest to where he and his friends would usually hang out. Of course you two had talked on a few occasions but he always seemed a bit reserved around you, a flirty remark or two (if you were lucky) and that was it so clearly it couldnât be him. But oh how a girl could hope.
The next few weeks went on the same way, every Wednesday youâd get your book in the morning and youâd find a letter in it. Each one having a small clue as to who it was, the first one being the pen name Badger, next it was â...my family is quite small, just me and my parentsâŠâ , then you got â...youâre my lucky charm, you know? If I see you in the stands during a quidditch game, I just know weâll winâŠâ , the last letter, however, was the reason you were so quick to get to your book today.
â...Iâve decided to just go for it Y/n, I canât stand not being able to talk to you face to face any longer. In the next letter find my name...â
He had put his name in this letter and you were more than excited to see who it was. You had tried to pay attention, really you had, but the person was just far too sneaky.
And Cedric was proud of it. He had watched you open each letter at the bench, every Wednesday, for the last few weeks. He had gotten very good at hiding the letter in your textbook, some days heâd levitate it into the book, other times heâd bribe some first year to slip in his letter while he watched from afar. Â
He was tired of being so far, finally deciding to just go for it, but his stomach couldnât handle watching you rush to todayâs letter and open it far quicker than he's ever seen you open one. Cedric was nauseous with nerves as he quickly rushed to his next class, mumbling out an excuse of having to ask his professor about something.
You tore open the envelope, no time for sentiments now when the name of your secret admirer was just beneath your fingertips.
Dear y/n,
neRve wracking, isnât It? if You happen to miraCulously harbour an ounce of the feelings i dO for you, meet me at this benCh tonight duRing dinner. if you fail to show, I complEtely understand and will hold nothinG against you, please donât feel obliGated to do anything for me.
all my love,
baDger
Of course he wouldnât make it easy, now forcing you to wait until you could get a piece of parchment out to write out all the letters, undoubtedly they also happen to be in the wrong order.
Professor Binns was as monotone as always, his lecture droning on so you found it an opportune time to find out who this mystery man was.
D R I Y C O C R I E G G D
You huffed, quill ready to decipher the letters that just had to be out of order.
GREG YIRDCOCD
Your hand was quick to scratch that one out.
EGGY CODDIRRC
Well that canât be right
A quiet groan passed through your lips as you set you quill down, eyes going over the letters again. You looked around subtly before you decided to try your luck, it seemed like it would fit.
CEDRIC
You paused, there was no way it would work.
DIGGORY
It fit stupidly well, Hufflepuff, quidditch, only child, stupidly charming and boyish handwriting. The only part not making sense was that they were to you. Of all people he was writing to you. The gasp left your lips and it was far too loud to go unnoticed by the class.
âSorry, sorry. I just⊠get really⊠into the lesson.â You said awkwardly, Professor Binns not buying it but he couldnât find it in him to really care all that much.
You shrunk back into your seat, hands getting sweaty. You were meeting him⊠tonight.
--
The air was brisk as you made your way to the courtyard, you chewed at your bottom lip as you thought about Cedric Diggory sitting there waiting for you. The negative thoughts were being pushed away, he just wasnât the type to play a prank this mean...was he? Or maybe it wasnât him at all, those twins have been rather quiet lately.
The thoughts seemed to dissipate as you saw him, you were still a few pillars away and he was sitting on the bench looking at the grass so he hadnât seen you yet. He was wringing his hands together as his knee bounced, he was nervous. The notion made your heart flutter and a small smile appear on your lips, but fueling you with confidence as you walked closer to him.
Cedric was beyond nervous, and if you didnât show up within the next ten minutes he was sure that he was going to puke into the bushed to his right. Fortunately for him, he lifted his head to see you walking toward him, a beaming smile on your face and just like that, maybe he didnât need to be so nervous after all.
âY/n, you cam-â He was cut off, really glad he hadnât gotten sick.
Once you reached him, overcome with the feeling of not wanting to be so far anymore, you pulled his head down low enough for you to kiss him. Cedric was quick to act, having been waiting for this moment for a while now, and wrapped his arms around your waist tightly. With no room left between the two of you, Cedric deepened the kiss as he felt your hands run through his hair and tug at the ends. And he for sure thought he was dreaming when he pulled away, reluctantly himself, and watched as your lips trailed after his. He couldnât help but lean back in, capturing your lips again in another kiss before pulling away.
âI love you, Ced.â Your words were whispered with a smile and his brain went fuzzy.
He smiled big, eyes crinkling as he looked at you, lips swollen, and breathing just a tad quicker than normal.
âWell, thank Merlin for that or else you wouldâve been sending very mixed signals, darling.â
His hand came up to brush some hair away from your face as you laughed.
âI am completely, irrevocably, in love with you, Y/n.â
wax feathers // melting sun
summary:Â
He canât be serious. You squint. Diavolo offers you a playful grinâinnocent and boyish. Holy shit, heâs serious.
(Diavolo catches your eye and you come to realize that angels arenât the only ones at risk of falling. Itâs the beginning of the end.)
warnings: mc is wearing a dress, but pronouns arenât specified.
The sight of the Demon Lordâs Palace is one that never grows old. Itâs a vision straight out of a dark fairytaleâblack stone walls that crack open the waxy full moon, branching off into a vertical maze of arching bridges and twisting towers. Golden light spills out of the glass domed ballrooms, swallowed up by the black maw of sky.Â
Itâs ancient. Humming with an energy older than time itselfâsomething powerful. Forbidden and curious.Â
In your more rational moments, you think you should be afraid. That you shouldn't tryâshouldn't wantâto get too close. To the palace. To the golden boy within.
Itâs a bit too late for that.
You glance briefly at the party goers, hoping to catch a glimpse of Lord Diavolo. Heâs nowhere in sightâall around you are demons of all shapes and sizes, horns and scales and sharp teeth gleaming in the golden lights.Â
The fruity fragrance of alcohol pierces through the savoury scent of food, pulling your attention to a long table, stationed near the enormous champagne tower. An enthusiastic Beel has settled himself in and is already tearing into an impressive spread of food.
In the edge of your vision you see Asmo, prowling nearby and nursing a flute of Cristal Acid Champagne. Sinking his teeth into his first target of the night: a flustered waiter who is very quickly losing interest in their job, clearly more taken with the prospect of Asmoâwell, ah, taking them. Across the way, a brunette woman in magenta chiffon is eyeing the two of them in a very brazen manner, and you canât help but make a face when Asmo beckons her over with a grin thatâs all pearly-white teeth and unspoken promises.
The Avatar of Lust isnât the only one attracting attention. This isnât your first rodeo at the Demon Lordâs palace, but with the way demons are openly ogling you, it certainly feels that way. Unless you want to get swept up into a dance with a stranger, you need to find one of the brothers in the next five secondsâ
âYouâre here!â booms an awfully familiar voice, and you pivot, heart jumping in your chest, yards of sky blue satin twisting with you. Diavolo stands before you, arms spread wide, grin shining bright as the sun. He swoops in for a hug, and in an instant his arms are around youâenveloping you whole, crushing you against his left boob and all but knocking the air from your lungs. He pulls back after a moment, holding you at an armâs length to admire you. âYou look stunning.â
Heat travels down your neckâyou nervously smooth down the fabric of your dress. "I think Asmo did well in the outfit department.âÂ
âBetter than well,â Diavolo says, and your breath catches in your throat. His voice is a low timbre, rich like honey and twice as sweet and oh what you wouldnât give to drown in it.
But, you notice it thenâmusic. Light and airy, swelling slowly into something buoyant and thrilling.Â
Whatever you were going to say to Diavolo dies on your tongue as a few couples stride past, and you peer around him to see whatâs going on. Between the gaps of the crowd you catch sight of couples dancing, twirling around the dancefloor in a colorful, well versed harmony.
âHm?â Diavolo notices your momentary lapse of attention and looks back over his shoulder. âOh, I see. Iâm quite fond of this waltz⊠Dance with me?â He smiles, and holds his hand out to you, palm up.
Your eyes widen, and you think, Oh, shit.
Dancing. Waltzing. In theory? Simple. But in realityâŠÂ
âIâm not very good,â you confess.Â
âNo worries. Iâll lead.â he says.
Briefly, you wonder if this is allowed. The idea is a striking oneâyou, weird little human that you are, dancing with the Prince of Hell.Â
This has to be a breach of conduct, surely. The Devildom is rife with customs that you havenât fully grasped, and even more that youâre simply unaware of. One little dance canât hurt though⊠probably. You are one of Diavoloâs exchange students, after allâit would be weirder if he didnât pay you any attention. Right?Â
After all, Lord Diavolo is the one pushing for good relations between all three realms, so spending time with you in a public setting would probably be good for appearances. Yes.
Ugh. You sound like Lucifer.
Diavolo looks amused by your hesitancyâhis molten gold eyes dazzling.Â
Warmth. Like the sun.Â
You think of Icarus. Of wax and feathersâof a light heart that knew nothing of fear.Â
Youâre supposed to be having fun.
You slip your hand in Diavoloâs own, much larger one, a smile tugging at your lips. âAlright.âÂ
He beams at you, and your heart flutters within your chest. Thereâs no time to dwell on itâheâs already tugging you towards the other dancing couples, feet moving in time with the music.
Diavolo stands directly in front of you and gently guides your left hand up his right arm, laying it just below his shoulder. Your fingers thread nervously into the soft black fur of his shawlâyouâve known for some time now that the future king is a beefcake, but holy hell is he dense. His right hand comes to rest firmly in the center of your back as he takes your free hand securely into his own. He pulls you closer. You have to tilt your head up to look at him.
He makes you feel so small.
âReady?â Diavolo asks.
You nod, pushing your shoulders back and your chin up.Â
Youâre a little stiff and a tad clumsy. Diavolo takes it in good stride, thousands of years of experience making up for your woeful lack of. Youâre so focused on where your feet are going and trying to not get tangled up in your skirts that you donât notice the curious observers around you.Â
Diavolo murmurs instructions for you, counting in time with the music. You donât have time to be embarrassed, focused as you are on not stepping on the princeâs feet.Â
...For a third time.
As if he can read your mind, he cheerily says, âYouâre catching on fast! Why, youâve only stepped on my foot twice!âÂ
Thereâs a teasing lilt to his voice that raises heat to the tips of your ears.Â
Out of the corner of your eye you see Lucifer, who most definitely heard that and is now gawking at you like youâve chopped off your hand and hurled it at him. You know in your heart that youâre going to get an earful later. Phooey.
You squeeze Diavoloâs hand, only a little bit accusingly. âI did try to warn you.âÂ
He makes an agreeable mm sound. âWell, youâve got me there.âÂ
He pauses thenâeyes shining like heâs got the winning hand. âLetâs try something else, yes?âÂ
He stops moving, and you with himâhe leans in close, whispers into your ear.
You blink, once. Twice.
âWait⊠seriously?âÂ
Diavolo nods. âMhm."
He canât be serious.Â
You squint. He offers you a playful grinâinnocent and boyish.Â
Holy shit, heâs serious.
Well, in that caseâŠÂ
You step onto his shoes, this time on purpose (itâs free real estate, baby), and now youâre moving. Gliding. The song swells into something bright and joyful, and a laugh bubbles past your lips when he spins you in a wide circle. You feel like a child againâa bit ridiculous, excitement thrumming through your veins and a lightheadedness that leaves you intoxicated. Weightless. Free.Â
You could stay like this for hours, you realize. Part of you wants to, even.Â
All too soon, the music begins to fade. Diavolo spins you to the edge of the crowd and slows to a stop. A bit regretfully, you take a step back, the sudden lack of his warmth stinging bitter cold and hollow in your chest.
He smiles, thenâpresses soft lips to the back of your hand and murmurs, âThank you for the danceâthe first of many, I hope.âÂ
You melt, a bit.
Diavolo burns like the sun and you knowâyou knowâthat to stand by his side, to feel his warmth on your skin and to bloom in his lightâyou will pay a certain price. Plucked feathers and waterlogged lungs.
You wonder if Icarus regretted it.Â
Your eyes stray for a moment, gaze passing over Diavoloâs shoulderâlocking with red-onyx ones.
You smile.
âI would like that.âÂ
Be Quiet (Harry Potter x Reader) SMUT
Request: Can you write a story where the reader (Slytherin) and Harry fall in love with each other and have their first time (smut pls!) and at the same time Sirius and the reader find out thatâs sheâs his daughter? Xo
Pairing: Harry Potter x FemReader
Warnings: Smut, very slight mentions of death, unprotected sex
Word Count: 2389
A/N: I forgot to specify the readerâs house! đ Also I didnât do a whole lot of set up, letâs pretend their slightly older in Order of The Phoenix and this is set in when theyâre staying in Siriusâ place? -S
âââââââââââââââââââââââ
(Y/N) rapped quietly on the door, she supposed knocking on the door at all kind of defeated the purpose of trying to be quiet, so she abandoned her efforts and attempted to open the wooden door with minimal squeaking. âHarry? Are you up?â
Harry was quick to appear and open the door for her to come into the room. Honestly, he felt kind of bad, because it had been his intention to come to her. She had just beat him to it, but he supposed that wasnât too surprising; she had always seemed to be more sure of herself than Harry had. âYeah, come in. I was just about to go look for you.â
She didnât need to be told twice. Harry was probably her best friend...or maybe Hermione, but that would only because she couldnât share EVERYTHING with Harry (despite her desire to do so). She plopped on the bed and let out a sigh, a dramatic, but justified one. âThis is a lot, right?â
âItâs a bit much sure⊠not entirely bad though?â Harry knew immediately what sheâd been referring to. A bombshell for sure. One thing they had been able to bond over was the fact that she grew up without her parents, Harry was thankful that she had a much more loving and tolerant aunt and uncle though. She never knew who her father was, and her mother had died around the age of 3. She knew who her father was now though⊠the notorious Sirius Black.
(Y/N) knew that she had been kept in the dark for her own good. Most people still thought the man was a murderer and she knew her aunt and uncle just didnât want her to grow up knowing that they shared the DNA. âI mean I guess not⊠Sirius is cool and all.â It definitely sucked that his name hadnât been cleared to anyone not in the Order, but while not seemingly knowing a lot about what he was doing he seemed eager to try as much as he would be able to.
âI feel like Iâve been lied to my entire life and I get why they did it, but I wish I wouldâve known.â (Y/N) sat up and laid her head on Harryâs shoulder. Heâd sat down beside her after sheâd laid back. âI suppose nothing really changes that much though.â
He could definitely relate to some extent. Harry constantly felt like he was playing catch-up, and he was always a step behind everyone in knowing about himself and his life. âRight.â
A silence fell over the pair. Harry wasnât sure what (Y/N) was feeling, but he felt content. She always had a way of making him feel that way. Hermione kept pushing him to say something, and as much as he wanted to he always found a reason not to do so. Now for example would be incredibly inappropriate, she was already so overwhelmed it just wouldnât be fair to add the weight of his feelings for her onto her shoulders.
âCan I ask you something completely off topic?â
âAnything.â
âDo you like me?â (Y/N) felt bad for blurting out the question. Now probably wasnât the time and that probably wasnât the best way to go about it, but at that moment it seemed like the most appropriate option.
Poor Harry was happy he didnât have a mouth full or butter beer or pumpkin juice because there was no doubt that he wouldâve probably spit it all over the bedding and the floor. He used to say that they were close enough that she could never surprise him, but that clearly was a lie. He often wondered if she was a Legilimen, because she seemed to have some sort of innate ability to read his mind. She also knew when he was lying to playing dumb probably wouldnât be too much help in this situation, âUh...yeah. Hermione says it's bloody obvious.â
(Y/N) chuckled and smiled, even though he wouldnât be able to see it, âShe says the same to me if it makes you feel any better.â
âYou fancy me?â Harry always had a small suspicion, he didnât think that Hermione would be constantly trying to get him to confess his feelings if she thought it would end badly, but still he had his doubts.
âYou might be the chosen one, but you can be pretty thick sometimesâŠâ She sighed and lifted her head from his shoulder. When he turned to see what was wrong she just planted a soft kiss on his lips. He immediately melted into it, he didnât need to be told twice to kiss her back. Heâd been thinking about doing it so long that it just seemed second nature.
Their foreheads stayed pressed together even when the urge to break away to breathe came. Her eyes were still closed, but Harry kept his open (he just needed to make sure this wasnât a dream). âWould it be too soon to say that Iâm in love with you?â
âI donât think Iâd use the word soon at all.â (Y/N) teased with a soft laugh.
Harry pulled the girl back in for another kiss, the second was even better than the first (which he hadnât previously thought to be possible). She tasted like mint toothpaste, which probably now his favorite flavor as his tongue swept across hers. (Y/N) wrapped her arms around him, an act partially meant to pull him closer and partially meant to keep a grip on him so that when she laid down heâd come tumbling down with her.
Her back hit the mattress with a soft thud, and she found herself mildly impressed with Harryâs ability to gracefully follow her. His body resting between her legs and his hands on either side of her head. She wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled herself further into him, earning a small groan. Her lips curled into a smile against his skin, and she set herself on a mission to elicit a similar reaction, but not before whispering to him, âYou have to be quiet, apparently my dad is in the other room.â
Harry rolled his eyes at her, but soon found himself forgetting what sheâd said. Instead he was more focused on the feathery light kisses being trailed down from his cheek to his neck. He took a deep breath when she began to kiss his neck, her ministrations on the skin a new and very enjoyable experience. He didnât even notice her hands sneaking under his shirt. He shivered slightly from her cold hands, but relaxed into her touch when she ran her palms across his chest and torso. âWhatever youâre doing for Quidditch is clearly working.â She hummed into his ear.
Harry chuckled and leaned up, pulling his shirt over his head and then helping her out of hers. He was kind of shocked by how not nervous he was. There was just something about her, he doubted there was anything in the world she could do to make him think less of her and he just had a hunch she felt the same (or least thatâs the way she made him feel). There was little light in the bedroom, but he could still see her (barely, but he could). He hadnât even thought about the fact they were in her pajamas and she probably wouldnât be wearing a bra⊠she definitely wasnât and he felt his voice catch in the back of his throat.
âThis is the part where you tell me how good I look.â (Y/N) whispered playfully to him. She worried that perhaps she mightâve been ruining the moment with so much talking, but she also knew that Harry was aware she liked to make jokes to ease her own nerves. He was often the only one not taken aback by the sometimes poorly time sentiments.
âYouâre bloody gorgeous.â His voice held no trace of jest and he didnât even give her a chance to respond before he went back in for another kiss. The kiss was chaste, because honestly he wanted to give her a taste of her own medicine. When his lips met the skin of her neck (Y/N) found herself having to bite the inside of her cheek to keep her voice down. However, whenever he dipped lower and found her chest the action was futile. A sharp gasp tore through her throat at the new sensation and when to shower her breasts in kisses she no longer found holding back a moan a possible option.
The sound was like music to Harryâs ears and he began to crave hearing more like it was a song stuck in his head. He switched between her right and left nipple, carefully trying to pay the same amount of attention to each one, and he only found himself willing to stop whenever she rolled her hips upward and brushed herself against the erection he was now painfully aware of. To be honest, he wasnât quite sure what was exactly expected of him. He definitely wasnât entirely stupid on the subject, he knew WHAT happened, but maybe he was skipping an important step in the foreplay that he wasnât aware of. He didnât have much time to think too much about it, because (Y/N) wiggled out from under him. He wouldâve been worried that heâd done something wrong, but when she began to shed the rest of his clothes those thoughts abandoned his mind. Really the only thoughts left in his head was her⊠and how she looked. Completely bare. In front of him. Merlin, he wasnât sure there was ever a sight more beautiful and he doubted heâd ever be able to think of anything else.
âCare to join me?â (Y/N) hoped she wasnât being too forward. This really was probably too soon⊠theyâd just had their first kiss not even an hour ago and now she was lying on his bed completely naked. Sheâd been imagining this for far more than a few hours though. It was definitely not a fleeting thought⊠well it wasnât to her. She hoped Harry felt the same.
âOh! Yeah!â It occurred to him how lame it mustâve been that he was just sitting there looking at her and he quickly shed his left over layers too. Now they were both naked, and still just staring.
âThis is okay with you right?â She drew closer to him again, careful not to touch him until she was sure that he also wanted this.
âYes.â He thought she was bloody insane to even ask him that, but he wouldnât say that to her (at least not right then).
That was all she wanted to hear, (Y/N) kissed him again, but this time it was different. It was full of anticipation and desire and their lips just moved together instinctively, because they were both too focused on the feeling of their bodies being pressed together.
This time (Y/N) didnât have to pull Harry on top of her, this time he carefully laid her down and hovered over her. The tip of his cock brushed against her core and he was worried that heâd lose it right then and there. She whimpered and raised her hips to meet him. Their eyes locked and there wasnât a need for words to ask permission or any questions. They both knew this was exactly what they wanted. Harry reached between them and drug the tip of his cock across her folds, his eyes closed when he slowly began to press himself into her.
Immediate pleasure washed over Harry and to put it bluntly it was far better than any late night with his hand. (Y/N) felt it too, not quite as intensely as she was still adjusting to the foreign feeling of being so completely stretched by him. The thought alone made her shift her hips. He was trying not to give into the desire to just completely ruin her, the thought had crossed his mind more than once if he was being honest and now that he was presented with the actual opportunity he was doing his best to be a gentleman.
âHarry,â He had always enjoyed hearing her say his name, and this was no exception. It was at least 10 times better when it came out more of a moan than an actual word, âMove already.â
He grunted a bit at the order, but obliged nonetheless. He pulled out slowly and then resheathed himself in her again. Each time a little faster and every little whimper or moan that came from her lips egged him on ever more. It didnât take long for the somewhat uncomfortable feeling to completely disappear and soon her weak noises became a little louder. Harry wouldâve been happy to have her screaming his name, the noise echoing through the hallways, but she was right. Her father was in the other room, as well as other people who would not approve of their display of affection.
âWe have.. To be.. Quiet⊠remember?â His sentence was broken up by the thrusting of his hips, unable to find enough concern to completely stop his movements. Knowing he was right (Y/N) roughly kissed him. She wasnât entirely sure that it would keep the noises at bay, but it was the only thing that she could say would have the potential to work at the moment. She was getting close, she could feel something like a spring in her body being twisted tighter and tighter with every thrust and then POP. A wave of relief and pleasure erupted through her body and a moan that sounded more like a strangled sob was let out. As cliche as it sounded, it completely undid Harry and he held her close, his face buried into her shoulder as he found the same pleasure she did and his hips stilled.
âHarry?â
âYeah?â
âThat was my first time.â
âMine too.â He answered honestly.
âWeâre pretty good at this.â She let out a quiet laugh as Harry pulled himself out of her and collapsed on the bed. She laid down beside him, her head resting on his chest.
âHonestly⊠I think we could go for a bit more practice.â
The Witcher: The Games vs the Books part 2 â Characters and Accents
So, I've already talked at length about the relationship between the Witcher books and games, but how well they captured individual characters is its whole own subject â and youâd better believe I have enough thoughts on it for a whole extra post.
Andrej Sapkowski's skill for creating vivid and engaging characters really is so much of what brings the books to life, and no matter how much work an adaptation might put into worldbuilding and plot, it's the characters you've really got to nail to get the long-time fans on board. Especially when youâve done what the games have, framing themselves as a direct continuation of Sapkowski's story. Nothing invites comparison to your source material like basically forcing fans to read the original novels to understand even half the backstory alluded to in-game.Â
So how did they do? I can only offer my opinion â characterisation is necessarily going to be a lot more subjective than just telling you what plot points the games contradicted outright â but like any fan, I have opinions in plenty.
Of the main cast, I feel Yennefer is the character they've captured the best. They've done just as well with some supporting players â I have no real complaints about Dijkstra or Phillipa, for example, who are favourites of mine in both games and books. For the main players though, Geralt and Regis seem to be the ones who's differences I'm most inclined to forgive, whereas I don't feel like they've done Ciri justice at all. Book!Geralt is much less of a smartarse, for one thing, whereas Book!Ciri is much more of one. But if we're talking about the differences, Iâm afraid we really need to start with Dandelion.
Dandelion
For all the genuinely good work the games do with characters, old and new, I don't think I can overstate what a disservice the they've done Dandelion, who I could not stand in TW3, but is now one of my favourite book!verse characters. Alas, Dandelion is a prime example of something the Witcher games really don't do well: camp. Being the archtypical bard, Dandelion is about as flamboyant as any enthusiastically-heterosexual man can be: you should be able to spot this guy by body language alone, he should be flouncing around and he should talk like a spoiled noble auditioning for Shakespeare. Book!Dandelion is over-the-top and ridiculous and just so much fun, and I loved him well before I'd even really gotten into the rest of the books around him.
Here's just a bit of dialogue from one of his first appearances, to give you a sense of how he and Geralt play off each other.
The  bard  seized  the  fingerboard  of  his  lute  and  plucked  the strings vigorously. âHow would you prefer it, in verse or in normal speech?â âNormal speech.â âAs you please,â Dandelion said, not putting his lute down. âListen then, noble  gentlemen,  to  what occurred  a  week  ago  near  the  free  town  of Barefield. âTwas thus, that at the crack of dawn, when the rising sun had barely tinged pink the shrouds of mist hanging pendent above the meadowsââ âIt was supposed to be normal speech,â Geralt reminded him. âIsnât it? Very well, very well. I understand. Concise, without metaphors. A dragon alighted on the pastures outside Barefield.â
Though TW3's Dandelion certainly looks the part, you have to go hunting through art from the Gwent cards to find much that comes close to really capturing his personality (see left pic below â though even there, a Dandelion who'd voluntarily break his treasured lute is a very hard sell). Though a lot of fanart does better (right-below â credit goes to Tatiana Ortaliz).
But as poorly as the games capture his flamboyance, they're not that much better when it comes to taking him seriously. TW3 left me thinking he was all talk and no substance; the books make abundantly clear that he really is renowned enough to be welcome in courts across the continent. Though he often overestimates what he can talk himself out of, he isnât stupid either: he's lectured at Oxenfurt, spied for Dijkstra, and then there are the moments where the frivolous playboy mask slips and you realise he's sometimes much better at understanding people and relationships than Geralt will ever be (which is honestly kind of funny considering how many of Dandelionâs relationships end with plates being thrown at him from an upper story). He's not at all above mocking Geralt when he deserves it either (and especially his personal and relationship issues) â Geralt will happily mock him right back.
We never do learn how they became friends (I'm pretty sure the incident listed in the wiki is just the date of their first expedition together, not their first meeting), but Geralt just doesn't form lasting friendships or romances with anyone he can't have an intelligent conversation with. And Dandelion is a damn good friend to Geralt â one who, despite being a helpless, squishy little bard, will keep Geralt's secrets under torture, or will follow him into Nilfgaard in the middle of a war simply because you don't let a friend make a trip like that alone. (Seriously, I donât ship it nearly as much as some, but hot damn there is some material in here if you do.) In short, it's basically inconceivable that he'd leave an amnesic Geralt wandering around Vizima alone, as he does in the first Witcher game â which is the kind of thing I can mostly forgive as a gameplay conceit, only it doesnât really get better from there.
Heâs also supposed to be blond, something I donât think is technically specified until fairly late in the novels, but 100% what Iâd been picturing since his first description as a man in a colourful bonnet with cornflower-blue eyes (letâs face it: Dandelionâs hair isnât the only thing about him that screams âblondâ). Itâs a shame no-one from the games to the show to the novelsâ cover artists seem to have noticed â but at least there are some fanartists out there who were paying attention (credit for these goes to Asphaloth, Ghostcupdraws, Hvit-ravn (tumblr deleted), 94355 and itsmespicaa).
As for the games? Well, I cannot speak to how Dandelion came across in the original Polish, but I think it speaks worlds about the priorities of the English version that they didnât even bother to cast someone with a halfway-decent singing voice as their master bard. There are isolated moments of dialogue that come close to sounding like book!Dandelionâ mostly in Witcher 2, which comes closer to capturing the spirit of the books than either 1 or 3, or his attempts to convince his captor he's a disguised noble when you rescue him TW3 â but his voice actor is just painfully ill-suited to the role.
Geralt
Geralt fares much better than Dandelion, though heâs still a little hard to square with the Geralt of the books. Book!Geralt spends a lot more time sulking, just to begin with: he sulks because his job is complicated and gets him no respect, and because the world is unjust and unfair â and, most of all, he sulks because Yennefer has dumped him again. He also gets mocked for sulking, and usually deserves it. Book!Geralt is generally a lot more taciturn and a less prone to making smart comments just to have something to say â arguably because in book!Geralt's world, making smart comments often ends at the gallows, or at least with some corrupt official making your life much harder. Book!Geralt's world kind of sucks, and he's just got to put up with it.
As much as he often plays into the expectations of being an uneducated monster hunter, he's also got a more of an intellectual streak than youâd guess. He may prefer to stay out of politics (because damnit, his job is to save people from monsters, not people who are monsters), but he attended school at Nenneke's temple and has even taken classes at Oxenfurt academy, and there's a lot of thoughtful nuance to his opinions â his speech to Ciri about why he can't in good conscience take a stronger stance against the Scoiata'el contains a wealth of historical perspective, just for one example. Even his smart comments tend to be, well, somewhat smarter in the books.
Book!Geraltâs explicitly a lot younger than Yennefer â around 50 is the usual estimate, falling far short of the 100-ish the games suggest (the scandal of having a man fall for â gasp! â an older woman clearly didnât bother Sapkowski one bit). You donât see nearly as much "I'm getting too old for this" from book!Geralt, who's really not that old by witcher standards, and is apparently still hunting monsters long into his future. I'm also a little annoyed by the way they play off his hatred of portals like he's a grumpy old man who doesn't like mobile phones, when his distrust originally came from having seen the gruesome deaths that result when portals go wrong. This is not to say Book!Geralt lacks other ordinary human flaws, however â twice in the last two books of the main saga, he gets severely sidetracked after his ego gets the better of him (in the adulation he receives after being knighted, then after arriving in Toussaint), and it's quite some time before he properly gets back on track for that whole rescuing-Ciri thing again. Heâs also pretty hopeless when it comes to romance and relationships â breaking things off gracefully is really not in his skillset.
So why does game!Geralt not bother me more? Well, he's the main player character of a game franchise, and one who has to carry the experience largely solo. Some adjustments for genre are pretty much inevitable in that position. He's certainly fared better than Meve, for example, who's been softened far more from her book characterisation for her PC role in Thronebreaker. Then there's the whole amnesia thing â it's easy to believe that sort of experience would change a man â and if he doesn't sulk so much as he used to, maybe he's grown up a bit. Geralt's also in many ways the straight-man of Sapkowski's Witcher universe â there largely as the reliable centre for other, louder personalities to play off. But I expect the real bottom line here is that I do still like game!Geralt enough to forgive him a lot of what he lacks.
The books never do describe Geralt as being very attractive â something book-based fanart often tries to reflect. The point has been made before that the rather-alien-looking Geralt of the first game (left pic above) is probably a lot closer to his book-description. However, the main distinguishing factor youâll see in book-based fanart is probably the ubiquitous headband, which genuinely is what book!Geralt wears to make his hair behave (the example on the right above comes from Diana Novich).
All that said, if Sapkowski really wants me to believe that nearly so many women are eager to jump into bed with him, Iâm going to have to shallowly assume our witnesses are unreliable on this front, and Geralt is at least as attractive as Witcher 3âČs take on him. Nothing else makes sense. *g*
Regis
Regis varies mostly in that book!Regis is a lot more smug, sometimes verging on obnoxious â and a lot keener to make fun of Geralt (who generally deserves it). But then, Regis is old and wise and superpowered enough to dance rings around most everyone else â can you blame him? By Blood and Wine, Regis' overconfidence has been recently smacked down hard after his near-death-experience at the hands of Vilgefortz, and that kind of thing could knock some chips off anyone's shoulder. Throw in the fact that with Dettlaff, we have a situation not even Regis could make light of, and the changes to game!Regis make a certain amount of sense.
I do feel it's a bit of a shame that the vocal direction didn't work just a little bit harder to capture some of Regis' smugger side, or emphasise that his long-winded philosophising on human behaviour is supposed to sound a bit pretentious. This is actually something I suspect they were going for a few times in the script, but which didn't come through in the dialogue quite the way it was meant to. Still, again, I'm sure I'm biased by the fact that I like game!Regis far too much to find much fault in what they've done with him. They've done a lovely job capturing his friendship with Geralt too.
Looks-wise, there's a tendency in book-based art to portray Regis with long hair (even some pre-Blood-and-Wine Gwent art did so â see the two pics on the left above, from Gwent and early B&W concepts. The right-most pic is cover art from the books). I couldn't rightly tell you where long-haired-Regis comes from, though â perhaps it's described more explicitly in the original Polish, or perhaps it comes up in passing in some passage I've forgotten, though it may just as well just be a fannish meme.
The books do describe him as looking rather like a tax collector, slim, middle-aged, with an aquiline nose, prone to wearing black, and his hair as 'greying' or 'grey streaked', so presumably somewhat younger-looking than the game would have it. The hammer-horror-esque sideburns are likewise a game-verse addition, though I do like the look they went with â it's distinct from Geralt in a way that making him another long-grey-haired man wouldn't have been, and that's probably the point.
Being the hopeless Regis fan I am, I have quite the folder full of different fanart takes on book!Regis, so have a selection â art here is by gellihana-art, justanor, greysmartwolf, Nastyaskaya, NatalyLanier, beidak, natalliel, ellaine and afternoon63. For what itâs worth, I feel beidakâs (bottom pic, second from the left) comes the closest to what Iâd have pictured personally, based on how heâs first described.
Ciri
I find it much harder to rationalise the changes to game!Ciri, who I didn't exactly dislike, but found stuck too close to the role of generic-macguffin-girl-who-just-wants-to-be-normal to be very interesting. Having read the books, not only do I much prefer book!Ciri, I'm not sure I can emphasize enough how much the game did NOT prepare me for utter gauntlet of whump and misery that girl survives in the last four titles. Book!Ciri is a character who works for me mostly because of the same flaws the game mostly strips her free of â TW3 makes some token noise about how you can't tell her what to do, but sheâs an utter little royal brat when we first meet book!Ciri, and itâs so much of what brings her to life. She throws herself into her witcher training with the enthusiasm of a kid going completely native, but still revels in getting to be girly for a change when Triss first arrives at Kaer Morhen. She hates Yennefer at first, but soon bonds with her just as strongly as she ever did with Geralt, picking up some of Yennferâs haughty mannerisms along the way. And then she gets thrown through a portal and lost in the distant wilderness, and the whole world comes down on her head.
The build up to the first time Ciri actually has to kill someone is intense... and things only get worse from there. Steadily. For another couple of novels at a stretch. Seriously, a major caveat that pretty much has to go into any rec for these books (and I will absolutely rec these books) is that Ciri's story gets heavy. So heavy one finds oneself using phrases like, "that time that one guy died of his wounds on top of her while semi-consensually feeling her up was honestly one of the less traumatic incidents in the period."
By the end of the novels, Ciri has nearly died of thirst, been beaten, tied up, dragged around the country as a prisoner, run with bandits and killed innocent people for the fun of it, done fantasy-cocaine and got a tattoo, fought off more than one attempted rape, been drugged, lain for multiple nights next to an impotent elf who completely fails to impregnate her, watched the bodies of her friends and girlfriend being mutilated in front of her, and did I mention where she got that scar? She has survived hell, and it is absolutely a testament to her own strength that she somehow comes through it and puts herself back together at the end. When Geralt finally arrives to rescue her, what matters most isn't that her ordeal is over, but that she finally knows she hasnât been abandoned by everyone whoâd ever loved her after all.
The Ciri of the books is fierce and wild and arrogant, but she's learned her morals from the best, and she holds onto them until she can't, then picks them back up again when she can, and above all she survives. For all that her story turns arguably too much of the last two books into a slog of misery, oh boy does it pay off at the end. And that's probably about as much as I can say about her Big Moment in the last book without spoiling too much, so suffice to say that by the end of the saga, Geralt has pretty much become a supporting character in Ciri's story, not the other way around. (Seriously, youâd be surprised how few chapters of the last two books heâs actually in.)
Finding art which captures the aspects of Ciriâs character and history which are missing from the game has turned out to be pretty hard, though the fanart above from her bandit phase takes a decent crack at it (credit to Loles Romero and NastyaSkaya). I do rather like that one shot of her on horseback beside her girlfriend too, which comes from Denis Gordeevâs illustrations for the novels (below).
How much of this does TW3 get across with her portrayal in the game? Well, she's still pretty headstrong, I guess. And they let you give a 'sorry, I like girls' answer in one bit of dialogue, so they remembered her girlfriend existed. That's nice. But game!Ciri still has a kind of wide-eyed innocence that book!Ciri lost years ago, while book!Ciri is a little force of nature in ways the games hardly even hint at, and that's a really shameful loss.
You'd think, with a character so young, it ought to be easier to imagine she's simply grown up since we saw her last, but so much of what's changed about Ciri feels like a step back rather than forwards. I can shrug off Geralt and Regis' differences and still enjoy their game-verse-selves, but Ciri leaves me genuinely disappointed.
Iâd say the official art that comes closest to capturing book!Ciri is that one portrait of her as a very grumpy young child (right above). Some of the early concept art (left above) feels a little more like it has her attitude, though sheâs rather too yellow-blonde â not to mention too pretty. I think it also bears pointing out that Ciri isnât really supposed to be the kind of beauty she is in the game â even before she gets whatâs meant to be a seriously ugly and disfiguring scar. (Fanart below by justanor and bobolip)
But of course, the male gamer fanbase canât be expected to give a fuck about a girl they wouldnât want to fuck, so game!Ciri must be generically gorgeous. Le sigh.
Triss
I suppose I should at least touch on Triss, too, though she's a very odd case. She's so out of character in the first Witcher game that I am wryly amused that the biggest thing they arguably do get right is that taking advantage of Geralt the moment he showed up with amnesia is... pretty well in-character for her (look, I gotta be honest here, I'm not much of a fan of Triss in any of her incarnations).
The second game does a much better job with her â she actually feels like book!Triss, she has some good dialogue, we're finally dealing with some of her conflicted loyalties to the Lodge and to Geralt â though by the third, her characterisation has been so softened into âthe nice oneâ that none of that potentially meaty conflict is ever resolved, or even really mentioned. Perhaps there's more buried in the Triss-romance path, which I've never bothered with, but the writers seem to have just given up on dealing with anything that might make her look less than wholly sympathetic. Heck, we hardly even get a clear statement about why she and Geralt broke up between Witchers 2 and 3.
Even speaking as such a not-a-fan of Triss, I promise there is more they could've done with the character the books give us. There's her ongoing trauma in from the Battle of Sodden, where she was injured so badly she was memorialised as one the dead: the 14th of the hill. There's her furious impatience with the neutrality of both the witchers and the Lodge: Triss has fought and died for a cause, and is ready to do so again. The second game sort of gets into this, but by and large, the games really aren't up to tackling the moral complexity of having such a theoretically-sympathetic character as Triss, who was still broadly willing to go along with the Lodge's plans to pair Ciri off and get her pregnant as soon as possible â her own wishes be damned. No, instead, Triss has conveniently left the Lodge before the rest of them go spiraling into abject villainy in the second game, clearing all that messy grey stuff out of the conflict.
Of course, the really big unresolved plot point still hanging over book!Triss is how badly she needs to terms with the fact Geralt's just Not That Into Her, and never has been â but since the games want Triss to be a serious romantic option, that's definitely not getting the resolution it could've used.
Book!Triss also pointedly avoids any outfit with a plunging neckline because her chest is covered with the ugly scars she received in the Battle of Sodden, something the games did not have the guts to reproduce. In a more confusing note, the books do consistently describe her hair as 'chestnut', which we'd usually think of as meaning 'brown' â though it turns out the games actually may not have been wrong to make her a redhead, since in Poland 'chestnut hair' apparently mean dark red hair (google some pictures of actual chestnuts, and you'll see why). Still, the firy-red-haired Triss of TW3 who wears nothing but plunging necklines remains a bit of a stretch, however you slice it. Once again, TW2 gets her best (and I must say, gave her the nicest outfit) â though even here she's conspicuously unscarred in all her sex scenes.
(Leftmost pic above is official Witcher 2 art, whereas Triss-with-scars fanart comes to us â once again â from nastyaskaya)
Shani
Shani sort of falls into a similar category as Triss as someone who isn't terribly well-served by any of her appearances, given that both exist in the first game largely to compete for Geralt's attentions. But I can't honestly say I find Shaniâs portrayal in the Hearts of Stone expansion to be much better â the degree to which either version exists solely to fall all over Geralt is a bit painful, especially given that their relationship in the books is limited to a single, undramatic hook-up. Book!Shani really only appears in a couple of chapters: we meet her as a medical student friend of Dandelion's, who's been surreptitiously selling pilfered university supplies to fund her degree, then later see her again in the final book, where she proves herself as a battlefield medic during the climactic Battle of Brenna. She's pragmatic to a fault, and I really can't see her as the type who needs Geralt to point out to her that her patient is dead, for example, or who'd subject a guy with Geralt's problems to such an extended feelings-dump as you'll get out of her during the wedding.
Shani is a reasonably logical book-character to bring back, if only because sheâs one of those who explicitly survives the ending, but for my money, "serious contender for Geralt's affections" is just not a role she works in.
Anna Henrietta
The duchess of Toussaint, Anna Henrietta, is another case who differs more from her book counterpart than you might think. In the books, the duchess is by far the least competent of the (pleasantly many and) various female leaders and rulers we meet â she comes across as rather young and naive, and every bit as absurd as everyone else in the ridiculous fairy-tale duchy she rules. She is, for example, most displeased to learn that Nilfgaard's war against the north is ongoing (something her courtiers have carefully avoided mentioning in her presence), because she'd long since sent the Emperor a stern note demanding he brought it to an end. She promptly has one of her ministers sent to the tower for misinforming her, and demands the others prepare an even sterner note for the emperor, which will surely do the job.
After Dandelion (inevitably) cheats on her, she has him repeatedly sent to the gallows, only to change her mind and send him a reprieve at the very last minute each time. Picture yourself a much younger and prettier version of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, and you've about got her general vibe.
Blood and Wine sort of waves at this part of her character when she first speaks about Dandelion, and again in suggesting there's a widespread feeling she lacks compassion, and once more as she proves utterly immovable on the subject of her sister. But the generally sensible and insightful woman you deal with for most of the main story is a far cry from her book-verse characterisation. Thatâs a bit of a shame, because I feel like there's a lot more they could have done to blend the two versions of her. Still, itâs hard to argue the duchess we get suits the story being told around her.
Other characters
Much as I love Yennefer, Dijkstra and Phillipa, I don't really have much more to say about them because I feel the games have done such a good job. The Yennefer of the books gets to show a lot more depth and complexity simply because she has more scenes and more space in which to do so, but when âthere isnât more of herâ is your biggest complaint, the game is officially doing pretty well. I could certainly gripe her about how âdresses in black and whiteâ seems to have been taken as âdresses in black with maybe a trace of white trimâ, or how Yennefer and Triss seem to be the only sorceresses in the world capable of wearing pants, when Phillipa (just for one) is in sensible menâs clothing the very first time we meet her, but thatâs getting into serious nitpicking territory.
(Not that Yen canât look amazing in outfits with more white â art by Emily Caroll, theclashofqueens, BarbaraRosiak, and cosplay by greatqueenlina)
Vesimir, Lambert and Eskel, Geralt's fellow witchers from the School of the Wolf, fall into a similar category for me â though we spend far less time with them in the books, everything we see of them in the games feels like a fairly logical extension of their book-roles. Vesimir is somewhat over-played as the old fogey, and his death is painfully cliched, but the impact on the characters and Kaer Morhen still hits home â and the games do some especially great work expanding Lambert into a much more complex character. To my mind, the only shame is that more of the book-original characters didn't get the same treatment.
Who have I missed? There's Avallac'h, of course, but I think I've got him pretty well covered by that last post. Zoltan, perhaps inevitably, has had his personality largely flattened into 'generic dwarf', with nothing better to do than hang around Geralt and Dandelion. You wouldn't know Book!Zoltan was apparently incapable of turning away women and children in need, for example â even human women and children with the chronic inability to say thankyou for his help. Or that he eventually admits to Geralt that the luggage he and his friends are carrying comes from a decidedly unsavoury source for such a supposedly charitable, upstanding guy. Yes, even Zoltan gets to be a morally complicated character in the books â who knew?
Speaking of dwarves, pleased as I am that Yarpen Zigren gets remembered in TW2, he's an odd one to talk about, since even in the books, he appears to have had a substantial personality transplant between his two main appearances. Yarpenâs a largely comedic figure in The Bounds of Reason short story, where he cheerfully admits to having considered letting his men knock down a particularly pompous aristocrat and piss all over him to teach him a lesson, but heâs evolved into a studious voice of reason against the scoiata'el by Blood of Elves. TW2 doesn't do a particularly good job of capturing either version, which I suspect probably bothered me more than most people â I liked the later book-incarnation of Yarpen immensely (and not even just because he's one of few ever to really call Triss out on just how much she needs to stop misreading Geralt's friendship as anything more than it is). His chapter in Blood of Elves packs a hell of a punch.
On the subject of accents
I do have to wonder if I'd have warmed up to characters like Triss, Shani and Dandelion (or even Letho) more if they'd only had halfway decent voice actors. It's not just that none are exactly leading the talent at the acting part of the job, it's that their American accents stick out in TW3 like a sore thumb.
Geralt mostly gets away his own US accent by dint of being the very first character we meet, so we've gotten used to the way he talks long before we notice how he stands out â hell, maybe that's just how they talk down in Rivia (hilariously, book!Geralt eventually reveals he's not even from Rivia, but simply picked the place and taught himself the accent so he could feel a bit less like the abandoned foundling he is, which only gives us yet more excuse for why his accent might sound a bit weird). More importantly, Geralt is meant to stand out, to be the outsider wherever he goes, so having him sound like no-one else fits the character.
But neither Triss or Dandelion are "of Rivia", and by the time they show up we've had dozens of hours in a game where literally everyone else sounds British, or Scottish, or Irish, or vaguely-eastern-European in the case of the Nilfgaardians. So why do these weirdos sound like no-one else on the continent?
The short answer seems to be that every character with an American accent in TW3 is someone who had an American accent in at least one of the previous games, which were way looser with their casting and had enough incidental American accents around that they didn't stand out. Clearly, by TW3, consistency with prior games has been prioritised over consistency with literally anything else weâre hearing.
Gaetan is an exception to the rule as the only new character (at least that I caught) with an American accent â presumably because between Geralt, Eskel, Lambert, Berengar, and Letho (and cohorts), some sort of 'witchers have American accents' rule has been pretty well established (another random American-accented witcher shows up in Thronebreaker, just to underline the point). We're going to mostly ignore Jad Karadin here, since his British accent is presumably a recent affectation to go with his new identity, and so makes sense.
This still doesn't really work though, since Lethoâs school is all the way down in Nilfgaard (land of the Eastern European accents), while the oldest witcher from Kaer Morhen (Vesimir) is the one guy with a British accent. He sounds nothing like any of his students, despite the fact he's logically the guy they ought to have learned their accents from. So the logic falls in a heap however you slice it, and I'm thrown right out of the game.
With TW3 as your intro to the series, it feels almost as if characters like Triss and Dandelion have been assigned American accents because they're just too important to be saddled with the same pedestrian British accents as everyone else, which did nothing to endear them to me. The only one I eventually warmed up to was Lambert, and then only because he's just such a bitter asshole that he eventually goes full circle and comes out the other side (somewhere around when you've heard his miserable backstory, then gotten drunk together and told him how much you love him, man). Gaetan similarly snuck in under the same clause â American accents clearly work better for me in this series when attached to characters you're supposed to find pretty insufferable on first impressions.
Some final notes
To conclude, it seems only fair to throw in a quick nod to some of the more memorable book-characters who don't appear in the games. Neither Mother Nenneke (Geralt's sort-of-surrogate mother) or Vissena (Geralt's biological mother) ever appear either, alas â Vissena doesn't even merit so much as a Gwent card, which seems quite the wasted opportunity.
Milva, Cahir and Angouleme â the three remaining companions of Geraltâs who died alongside Regis but who were not so easily resurrected â naturally donât appear. But nor are even really mentioned in all the games, which seems rather less than they deserve after giving their lives to Geralt's cause.
Cahir and Angouleme do at least have pretty badass Gwent cards to their names, though I am properly offended that Milva (who has the dubious honour of being my very favourite book character who doesn't ever appear in the games) is stuck with a card of her freaking death scene â which not only gets the scene wrong (believe me, there was no grimacing and gripping the arrow buried shallowly in her chest for poor Milva), but doesn't even bother to get her hair the right colour, for fuckâs sake. Basically, Milva was a stone cold badass and absolutely deserves better. #justice4milva
One can only guess how I'd have felt about some of these characters had I read the books before playing the games â I am obviously biased towards forgiving changes to characters whom I liked in their game incarnations, regardless of how they compare. Still, I think it does speak wonders that there still all these characters who suddenly made sense only after I'd met them in the books.
Even if only for Dandelion and Ciri, I can only dream of seeing a bit more of the book-original characterisations make it into the collective fannish consciousness. There's nothing wrong with getting into the canon purely based on the show or the games, but having read Sapkowski's novels, it's no longer any mystery how they spawned this massive franchise. That the saga wasnât even fully available in English until well after Witcher 3 was released â a solid couple of decades late, and long after it had already been translated into Russian, French, German, Spanish and more â is a real shame. For once, itâs us in the anglophone world whoâve been missing out: these books deserve so much more than to be thought of as a footnote to the games or the show.
