More Kokichi and Miu! I know K1-B0 is winning the poll but this made sense to me as a kind of preamble to that bit of exposition. Something about pieces of the people you've cared about staying with you.

So. Does Miu have a tattoo?

She's currently drawing it on with a marker every morning. Helps keep up morale while she focuses on building an entire android body from scratch. The machining on the parts alone is a pain in the ass, no matter how well you've mapped out the mechanisms. Hard to prototype with mostly-custom parts and very little patience.

Tendency to Stack Things on Other Things (boxes, cup-stain on those boxes from setting drinks there while he draws on the floor, totes of miscellaneous items that make the room harder for not-him to navigate, beginnings of a Laundry Chair)

Probably sleeps in that chair more than the actual bed-he-does-not-make, thus it also being where he hoards soda from the cafeteria (it's right in front of the whiteboard, which isn't in frame but is there)

The horsehead goes under his pillow when he isn't there (unless he's presenting his room to be found after his possible death, of course, in which case adjacent his 'this-is-not-a-will' he also makes his bed)

and then imagine the reveal at the end that the new "rantaro" is actually another loony danganronpa fan who was selected from a surprise casting call, who was then brainwashed to be the exact character that rantaro was. rantaro was recast, essentially. idk wouldn't that have been fucked up and cool. imagine the characters having to deal with the implications that not only are they fictional characters with personalities that were determined by a group of writers, but that they can be replaced by instilling that exact personality onto any other warm body. bruh idk I think that's kinda sick. I kinda wanna write an ndrv3 fix it fic but god my brain ain't good enough to write a dr game. idk how to come up with those complicated ass murders

like imagine they DO successfully pull off the ritual to bring rantaro back to life, but he's a little... off. he's a little shorter than the others remember him, and his hair is a slightly different shade of green, and was his voice always that low? but he has the exact same personality, he remembers everything up until his death, and he knows things that no one but the real rantaro would know. without a doubt, a person has just come back from the dead. holy shit.

long time no liveblog! i diverted my writing brain to finishing several wips and graduating high school, plus i got more into toh and genshin, so it’s been a while since i had the energy for this series. but today i’m back with the iconic ✨saiou salon scene✨ and very excited to be!

-alright, here’s the obligatory disclaimer: i’m going to be interpreting kokichi as initially intending to go through with the mercy kill plan. this is not the only valid interpretation. the most fundamental thing you have to understand about kokichi to analyze him is that he’s a microcosm of NDRV3 itself - he’s a catbox, the “embodiment of a lie”, completely up for interpretation. (i’m honestly not too fond of this as a writing decision, but that’s neither here nor there). if you interpret him as intending to sell out gonta from the beginning: cool! good for you! do not send me hate asks please.

-”oh, wait! now that we’re alone, i wanna tell you something.” “...what is it?” “you’re really useful.” “huh?” kokichi rlly said ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ 😭 at least use a DIFFERENT manipulation tactic bro cmon

-”so, how about you stop hanging out with dumb ol’ kaito, and be *my* friend instead? i think i can be useful to you, too...y’know? i can help you save everyone. and you wanna save everyone, riiiiight?” he NEEDS shuichi on his side to win the trial, and he’s fumbling it because he can’t keep a lid on his petty, childish jealousy. incredible. 

-”...shuichi saihara.” i can’t take his anger seriously with the little red chibi face...i wanna squish him...

-”nee-heehee...aw, i got rejected. but i won’t give up that easily. when i find someone i like, i’d do anything to get them to notice me...even strangle them.” the translation for this line is...rough. first of all, he doesn’t say ‘like’. he says a word only used ONE other time in v3 - when maki confesses to kaito. it’s a very serious way to say you love someone and rarely used irl. (he’s also completely alone, talking out loud to himself, and spent the entire last chapter of the game yelling about how much he hates lying to oneself. it’s hard to convince your audience the serial liar is being truthful this time, okay?!). second of all, the strangling - this is another catbox thing! in japanese, it’s ambiguous whether he’s strangling the one he loves or letting them strangle him...which is near-impossible to convey in english, so NISA went with the boring option and just chose whatever made kokichi seem scarier. booooo!!

-god, miu’s body discovery fucks me UP. i’m glad they don’t make you investigate the corpse up close, i’m not sure how long i could take staring at that awful expression.

silly reasons!!!! he’s so fun to draw and i like putting him in many many outfits bc he looked good in all of them / LOOK AT HIM. HIS STUPID LITTLE STARE. HE DOESNT GET IT. WHATS NOT TO LOVE. he gives me cute aggression

angst reasons!!!! I ACTUALLY HATE THE WAY HIS WRITING WAS HANDLED OH MY GOD. i swear i’ve considered just reclaiming this dude like just stealing him as my oc and rewriting everything aside from his backstory like his roles in game, his arc, etc because i do not have faith in whatever moron was on crack that day they wrote out the chapter 3 trial. i love him bc ohhhhh if he could have been handled better by the writers then he could’ve been something so good😞😞😞 also the fact his character is never treated with any sympathy in game, what happened to him is treated as an icky thing taht by association makes him an icky individual when in reality he’s perfectly capable of not the perfect candidate of not even a redemption arc. those would take time that they don’t have. a realization arc, it would have been SO. GOOD. if it turned out in ch3 since it was already HINTED AT AS A POSSIBILITY that if there were two killers then the second one would be let free, and he could’ve been that second one and therefore survived. and then by the end of the game he slowly comes to realize that what happened to him was just not right. it didn’t even have to be a full redemption arc just all they had to do was treat korkeiyos backstory with just the tiniest smidge of sympathy and they couldn’t even do that. his character makes me feel many emotions.

he actually fills me with so many emotions man. what do you MEAN the only thing he was TAUGHT AND THOIGHT HIMSELF ABLE TO DO WAS KILL AND THEN. HE GOES OUT. HE GOES OUT PROTECTING THE MAN HE CALLED AN ENEMY. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE WAS ALWAYS A PROTECTOR AT HEART. HE PROTECTED HIS FRIENDS IN THE SLUMS. THATS HOW HE MET DAZAI. AUGH. WHAT THE FUCK MAN. WHAT DO YOU MEAN. WHY DOES HE HAVE TO HOLD SUCH AN ANGRY FESTERING GRUDGE TO THE POINT WHERE THE ONLY THING TO FIX IT IS VALIDATION FROM THE MAN WHOM HE HATES MORE THAN ANYTHING FOR THE SIMPLE FACT HE GETS TO THROW AKUTAGAWA AWAY LIKE CRUMPLED PAPER AND GIVE ALL HIS ATTEBTION AND LOVE TO SOMEBODY WHO IS CONSTANTLY JANGLED LIKE KEYS IN FRONT OF AKUTAGAWAS EYES AS “BETTER THAN HIM”. WHAT DO UOU MEAN. this little THING man. makes me feel TOO MANY THINGS. the fact i heavily relate to him and his character developments as well, literally just shoot me straight in the heart right now he’s already torn it out. little babbyyyyyyy .of mine. i firmly believe he deserves a good little nap and to realize there’s people who care for him and who can give him the validation he horridly craves so deeply if he can only let go of that need to be good and enough in somebody else’s eyes. he’s definitely changed and developed a lot as a character. i really need to reread bsd, even if purely for his chapters. also i love love love everything that’s been done with his character <33

Qi Rong aka Night Touring Green Lantern from Heaven Official's Blessing

Silly reason I love him: he's deranged and crass which is fun to see in comparison with the other characters and how the fuck did he of all characters become a father?

Angst reason I love him: he's an abandoned child who while yes, has done horrible things and hurt people, he's someone who's needed a hug and someone there for him for him. His name literally means 'face of sorrow' and much like how Mu Qing's name meaning hurts... it hits hard

As a result of him being one of my favourites: I wrote a whole oc who's his best and only true friend because I thought it would be funny but now they're an actually deep and meaningful friendship to the point she is now helping care for his son
