Stanford and Fiddleford vocal stim with each other. It'll just be dead quiet and suddenly
"Meep moop"
"...meep moop"
":D"
fiddleford doesn't ever use the proper names for tools. he expects ford to know.

There is something utterly delightful about finishing a project in such a way as to make it look unfinished. I’ve had the stitching on the piece done for a few months but hadn’t decided how I wanted to display it, so it’s just been sitting (lol).
Finally decided yesterday to go this route and frame it in the hoop “as is”, and added a round of blanket stitch around the edges of the fabric to finish it, and every time I have look at it since it has made me laugh, so I consider that a success!
Original pattern is by Snapdragon Stitches (pattern link here).

all fun and games having an autistic mum and an ADHD dad until your mum can't fathom why you're disorganised and can't just Get On With Things and your dad thinks you're fussy, peculiar, way too sincere and a humourless fun sponge 😞
#“all fun and games” like we don't drive each other loopy lmao#gah i don't want to be mean i just feel like sometimes people act like being around only ND people is amazing and healing#and it definitely can be for sure but sometimes it is just extra difficult#particularly as my mum only realised she was autistic 2 years ago#best of both worlds with audhd#jem saying things#ok to rb btw but i hope it doesn't breach containment and get misinterpreted by bad faith tumblrinas#nd stuff#my dad is a real dick regardless btw

Work with your brain, not against it
I find that when I'm at home and I can work with my brain (as opposed to against it like is required of me at work), I can still get things done and I'm considerably less exhausted and more satisfied at the end of the day. Truth is... following the dopamine and letting yourself get distracted enough times will eventually bring you full circle to being distracted BY the thing you were initially distracted FROM. Plus you got 38 other tasks started in the meantime. And let's be honest here, starting is often the hardest part. So.. WIN WIN! So don't get frustrated when you can't focus. (If you're working... Save the frustration for when you're on company time LOL) Roll with it.. And you'll eventually roll right back around!

sometimes I think I didn't display that many signs of autism as a child. and then I find an old folder of papers labeled "Lists Folder". Full of just. blank sheets of paper filled with little cramped columns of just...items I thought were interesting? Or names of products I made up? (also other lists of things but there's like at least fifteen of these) Man I forgot how much I liked lists as a little kid...
#mine#nd stuff#see I don't feel like I did the categorization of special interests things#because my special interests were things with very specific categories that I could engage with in very specific regimented ways.

The "!!!!!!!!!!!!" means I'm kicking and screaming and doing all kinds of stim just to get the excitement out of my body in the most nonverbal way. Please understand that I am too happy for words. Thank you.

ive been watching on youtube videos about recent financial events such as collapses of crypto related firms, or WeWork, andif the video is about a company with a prominent charismatic figurehead the comments will have at least two people pathologising said figurehead (always narcissism).
i find that pathologising always detracts from any systematic factor that would have aggravated the situation at hand.
many of these people are rich white individuals (and people with disabilities or religious affiliations that are stigmatized would be outliers), have connections that allow an easy access to capital or regulatory ignorance, or in adam neumman’s case, live in a culture where alcoholism is normalised.
pathologising the criminal (or just individual, some of these people arent even convicted) removes any accountability they or the people around have over the situation, demonizes mental illness and ignores the system(s) where the situation happened. in summary, helping nobody in any manner save furthering stigma against mentally ill individuals while giving yourself, the pathologiser, some measure of control over the situation and a moral pat on the back.
#mine#this is bothering me so much#esp the frequent use of narcissism and related terms#anti psychiatry#npd#nd stuff#why study psychiatry when some bloke can dish out a npd diagnosis in 5 mins for someone they dont like
