Hudson and Rex S02E08 - Game of Bones
LARP episodes should be boring. This episode wasn't boring to me. It kind of got burned with repetition but it's an okay episode.
"Are you wounded? I have my healing salts". I don't think this can be fixed with healing salts, buddy.
Obligatory "I hate that they've never done a Halloween episode" comment. Or Christmas. Or really anything aside from a Mardi Gras episode, which... You're not New Orleans or Rio de Janeiro, okay? Why would you choose Mardi Gras instead of Halloween, and for a creepy serial killer episode too? Never mind, I'll expand when we get to S04E15.
Rex: I'm doing my fucking job, pay attention!
We're already past the point where Charlie should wonder, "Why am I getting all these weird cases all of a sudden?"
Jesse is loving this one.
"Without getting into specifics about Half-things or Borgs" "Halflings and Orcs?" lmao
Hallelujah, he finally noticed that Rex is not looking for a bone to chew on.
"He's not a dog, he's my partner" is way less ridiculous than the one time we had a dog on NCIS that was in the Navy, and Gibbs was like, "That's not a dog. That's a Marine", all serious and stone-faced. Believe me. I mean, I get it, they are super helpful, and can often do what humans in law enforcement cannot (for example, bite suspects). But those lines...
Tell him! Also, I think S2 is the season where Charlie brought Sarah the most coffees. Unless it's S5. I've already missed some of these exchanges so I can't check.
Billie the Reaper from Supernatural!
I'm going to assume that the Lodbrock was something this show came up with.
Geeky excitement.
Classic "trying to hide ancient artifacts to avoid losing the land or to avoid stalling construction" case. This isn't sarcastic. I'm Greek, we find ancient stuff everywhere.
What even. Put that tongue inside.
Huh, they had the sword actually buried inside the pillar when Charlie broke it with the hammer. I mean, you can totally add it later.
me: Oh no, no, no, don't you dare raise that sword in the air!
I haven't watched Merlin's Apprentice. Is this a reference? Did they ever find the Excalibur there?
Yes, of course it's a great idea to parade a priceless ancient artifact for the purpose of causing shock and awe when arresting a killer.
This is such a Scooby Doo moment lol
Why didn't you guys dress up? Come on!
Thank you, Jesse. And Rex.
Nice song in the end.

part one
pairing: jay halstead x hailey upton
while chasing a lead on their homicide investigation, jay & hailey find an abandoned baby on christmas eve. as to not have the baby spend it's first christmas at family services, it's up to jay & hailey, with a little help from will & the rest of the team to take care of it.
“jay, you’d make a really hot dad.”
(inspired by ncis episode)
part two || part three || masterlist
warnings: swearing, fluffery
it’s december 24th and their day starts off normal, just like any other day.
it was cold and snowing and hailey had never hated chicago more than she did in that moment (but it’s her home; she wouldn’t ever give it up). she beat jay into the office (she’s usually the first one, being an early bird and all), but he showed up with coffee and a smug smile. their downtime doesn’t last long, as voight assigns them to chase down a lead on their double homicide. this particular case had been dragging on with few breakthroughs and they were getting ready to ship it off to homicide, but voight wanted to take one last crack at it.
hailey leaned against the far wall while jay knocked on the apartment door. “william bradford, open up; chicago pd.”
they hear nothing but silence and jay rolled his eyes, repeating his earlier words.
“another dead end,” hailey mumbled, grabbing her phone to update voight.
jay nearly followed her lead and turned around but a noise from inside the apartment stopped him. “wait, did you hear that?” he turned to look at hailey and placed his ear against the door.
“no?” hailey looked confused.
“i heard something. it sounded like…” he knew it sounded farfetched, but he swore he heard a cry. with his ear up against the door, he’s able to hear more cries; he swallowed harshly at the familiarity of a baby’s cries.
from her new position closer to her partner, hailey clearly heard the baby’s cries. “jay, does that sound like a baby to you?”
jay doesn’t bother answering her; he moved back and sturdily kicked the door down. that’s usually one of his favourite parts of the job, but he can hardly focus on that as the baby’s cries multiply. hailey pushed past him and headed in the direction of the screams; it lead them to a dark bedroom in the back of the apartment. upon entering, they find a beautiful baby boy, who looked no more than a year old, lying in her crib with a red face from screaming.
jay is momentarily frozen because this young, defenseless child is here all alone, but hailey moved into action. she scooped the baby into her arms and cradled him against her chest, whispering soothing nothings against the baby’s head. it took a moment but the baby’s cries subside into whimpers.
hailey turned to look at jay with wide, watery eyes. “jay,” she started to speak, but her voice broke. she wanted to say more but she can’t; there’s something about cases involving children that affects them all deeply, on another level. they are innocent and defenseless, and hailey is still stunned someone would leave a baby all alone like this.
jay doesn’t need hailey to explain; he understood. he dropped an arm around her shoulder and held her for a moment as she held the baby who is now staring up at her with a transfixed expression.
“come on,” he murmured, pulling her elbow gently. “let’s stop at the hospital and will can make sure he’s okay.”
🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
voight decided to meet them at the hospital. after hearing what his detectives found in the apartment, he couldn’t not go out and make sure the little guy was alright.
“talk to me,” he directed his words at jay, who is casually leaning against the wall. hailey is peaking through the doors, watching carefully as will examines their newfound baby.
jay snapped out of his thoughts quickly. “we knocked twice; nothing. i heard crying so we made entry. found the baby in his crib, unharmed and no sign of any guardian around.”
“any id on the mother?”
jay frowned. “not yet. i have ruzek looking into it.”
voight nodded. “alright, we’re kicking this case off to homicide; too many dead ends. merry christmas, halstead,” he smirked.
“sarge—” jay is on high alert, prepared to protest.
of course voight was expecting it; he knew exactly who his detectives were. “i want you to stay with this baby until we figure out who he belongs too.” jay’s eyes widen; he loved kids, but babies are incredibly fragile and a massive responsibility. “upton; you too.”
hailey snapped her eyes to voight as if she hadn’t been eavesdropping their entire conversation. “want us to call dcfs?”
voight paused, looking through the glass doors at will, who is finishing up with his examination and smiling at the little guy. “tomorrow is christmas eve,” he replied gruffly, “i’m not letting that baby spend it’s first christmas at family services.”
he turns to leave, but jay and hailey are still confused. “wait, then where are we taking it?”
voight smirked. “you two found him; he’s your responsibility now until you find the mother.”
“what?” jay stammered, his eyes widening at voight’s demand.
“you better hope ruzek pulls through and finds that mother,” voight remarked in response, already halfway out the door.
before either have a chance to properly process what voight said, will knocked on the glass sliding door and motioned them inside. “find a name for this little guy yet?” will queried, as he picked up the baby from the checkup table.
“we have literally no information,” hailey replied sadly, “don’t even know who the mother is yet.”
will frowned as he bounced the baby on his hip. “well, on the bright side, the baby is perfectly healthy. a little malnourished, but nothing some formula can’t fix. do we need to call family services?”
“uh,” jay scratched the back of his head, “voight told us not to actually.”
“since we found him, he’s our responsibility until we find the mother,” hailey added, watching will’s amused face. “he doesn’t want the baby’s first christmas to be at family services.”
will can’t help but laugh out loud; the baby in his arms giggled in response. “i’m sorry, but voight put you in charge of this baby?” he directed his sassy remark at jay, who looked offended. “is he aware that is the worst idea he’s ever had?”
“i’ve dealt with babies before, will,” jay rolled his eyes, but he really is nervous to handle a baby on his own.
will nodded, snickering as he passed the baby onto hailey. “oh yeah, sure, my bad. because we’ve had so many children in the family.”
“shut up,” jay groaned. “plus, i have hailey. she has nephews.”
hailey nodded. the baby is calm, sleepy and slowly dozing off. “yeah, i do. i’ve babysat them many times.”
“have you ever babysat them overnight?” will inclined with a raised eyebrow.
hailey’s lips formed an o. “no…” she noted warily. “how bad can it be?”
will is so amused, he can’t stop himself from bursting out laughing. “oh, you two; so unbelievably naive.”
“stop being an ass and promise me you’re coming over later,” jay snapped, but his green eyes are pleading. if anyone can take care of a baby healthily, it’s his attending physician older brother (even if he will tease jay about this for the remainder of their days).
will laughed and knocked jay on the shoulder. “yeah, i’ll be there. but until then, good luck you two!” he sent them a cheery smile before exiting the room (a little too happily, if you ask jay).
the baby in hailey’s arms was fully asleep now; she raised an eyebrow at jay. “your place?” he just stared at her in response.
“well, your house has stairs,” he deadpanned. “stairs are bad for the baby.”
hailey bit her lip in amusement. “stairs are bad for the baby that can’t walk?”
“you never know,” he rolled his eyes. “and in case it wasn’t clear enough, you’re spending the night at my place.”
“how can i say no to such an inviting offer?” she replied sarcastically, but jay was so done with will and hailey’s teasing. “oh relax,” she answered (she can read him so well). “we have to pick a name.”
jay’s eyebrows furrowed together. “what are you talking about? his name is jay.”
hailey rolled her eyes, and if her hands weren’t full, she would have smacked him. “that’s cute, but no.”
“i actually had a better idea,” jay noted, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “i was thinking alvin? i don’t know; it might be too much, but it was just a thought.”
hailey’s heart felt like it swelled three times its size. “jay,” she breathed softly, “it’s perfect.”
he smiled warmly. “okay, great.”
“do you think will has an extra car seat or supplies? we have to stop by the district first,” she expertly doesn’t mention how kim and vanessa keep blowing up their group chat with requests to see the baby. “also, even though voight says this is our responsibility, i’m not sure if that means we don’t have to finish our work day.”
jay shot her a questioning expression. “i’m sure he’s still expecting us,” he grieved in response to the second part of her statement. “and i’m pretty sure they have some supplies in storage, unfortunately.”
he knew enough from what will had said in the past that parents who lost their newborn babies in the hospital sometimes don’t want to take their things home because the pain is too much. so they leave them at the hospital and it gets recycled to other moms who aren’t as fortunate to buy such products.
“you good?” he prodded, his eyes flickering down to alvin sleeping peacefully. “i can go find will and meet you at the truck?”
hailey nodded. “yeah, that sounds good.”
she watched as jay walked away in search of his redheaded brother.
“and so our adventure begins.”

tiva fanfiction author recommendations plz I need some good tiva to read
OKAY SO
This has been sitting in my inbox for a couple of days because I had to think SO HARD about my favorite authors and I was sure I would forget some of them. I started reading fanfiction almost ten years ago, so a lot of the titles and names have been lost in my memory by now. There are some more recent stories (which the authors are active) and the ones I get back to reread, so I’ll list those. Some works are still in progress. Here are some of my favorite tiva stories in no particular order:
Christmas Meeting by @beatrixacs [M, 368,073 word count, in progress]
Christmas 2015. Prague, Czech Republic. An unexpected meeting between two former co-workers after more than two years from their parting in Israel that will make them realize that their feelings towards each other are stronger than before. But will they do anything about it? And what does the future look like for them? AU Season 13.
Kissing Deal by @beatrixacs [M, 247,815 word count, complete]
Tony and Ziva are posing as a married couple in a hotel for a week to keep an eye on another married couple that is involved in their last case and to find some evidence against them. As a part of marital necessities they make a deal about kisses. Will they finally find their way to each other thanks to it?
a crawl to cross the distance by @benditlikepress [M, 6,258 word count, complete]
Tony and Ziva’s first date ended up happening 15 years after they first met, 5 years and 7 months after their daughter was born, and just over a month after they were reunited for good.
leave before the lights come on by @benditlikepress [M, 9,049 word count, complete]
The night before Ziva is assigned to NCIS, she crosses paths with one member of the team in a bar. Set between Kill Ari Pt 2 and Silver War.
That We May Forgive by @justkindaoverhereobsessing [G, 12,875 word count, complete]
Ziva's second pregnancy is nothing like her first (makes a comparison between Tali’s pregnancy and a second child in the DiNozzo family)
We Are an Ocean by @justkindaoverhereobsessing [M, 120,164 word count, in progress]
The first time they sleep together, it's easy. It makes sense, partners transitioning to friends and maybe friends with benefits. Letting emotions in, though? That might be a different story (tiva sleeping together and the repercussions of it throughout the episodes)
Heat wave by jelenamichel [M, 24,685 word count, complete]
What was it they said about excessive heat having an effect on a person's ability to think clearly? A heat wave in DC brings the tension between two agents to boiling point.
Famiglia by jelenamichel [T, 83,903 word count, complete]
When DiNozzo Senior's health takes a hit Tony finds out about long-kept secrets and lies. His life begins to change as his two families collide, and he battles with who he wants to be versus the man he seems destined to become.
I See You by @storywriter30 [T, 8,491 word count, complete]
And suddenly, it is the Fall of 2009 and he is seeing her for the first time again. All of her strength, all of her scars, all of their history, lay bare in front of him (Tony finds Ziva is alive in Paris).
The Liaison by @hundan [E, 28,470 word count, in progress]
Some days it's hard to remember why it is you do your job, this was highly evident today for Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo. When he left Gibbs, his boss, in the motherland to take a overseas deployment to Israel he thought the whole thing would be an experience of a lifetime. Maybe he was wrong, but maybe he was right. AU
The Past Forgotten by @hundan [T, 75,315 word count, complete]
"I'm sorry, I don't know you" Tony said, simply. Like that one single comment hadn't ripped her heart out and stomped all over it. She was his partner, she's not meant to be forgotten by him of all people.
Hoping for Happiness by @jaelke421 [M, 265,887 word count, complete]
Tiva romance. Chronicles their transition from friends to something more. Departs canon after Child's Play. Warning: Mention of rape and torture.
Cold Tiles and Warm Air by @factoffictionwriter [M, 3,658 word count, complete]
But staring? It just wasn't her thing. Touching, kissing, stroking… these were all forms of intimacy she could get behind. But leave her to look - just look, not touch - and she typically grew antsy. Or worse: Bored. Tag 11x02. Bitter Sweet.
Family Second by @factoffictionwriter [M, 26,865 word count, complete]
Alternate ep 13x24. The team gets ahold of Ziva before the mortar attack. Follows along with the storyline of the episode for the most part. A true to character AU of sorts.
holding on (and letting go) by @thewintersoldierdisaster [G, 1,322 word count, complete]
Tony and Ziva are reunited again. Set in S17.
Cool Hand Luke by @thewintersoldierdisaster [G, 1,959 word count, complete]
Tony and Tali spend Ziva's birthday in Paris.
Of Plenty by Strawberry Shortcake123 [M, 28,748 word count, complete]
While celebrating their reinstatement as NCIS agents, Tony and Ziva drink too much and go too far. They decide to put the night behind them- until Ziva finds out that she is pregnant.
Treasure Map by @belletylers [T, 11,285 word count, complete]
"Tony had always considered himself fairly good at finding people who were missing. Especially if those people were Ziva." Tony and Tali go to Paris, searching for Ziva after the events of 13x24.
A Helping Hand by @loudlooks [M, 16,928 word count, complete]
Ziva comes up with a creative solution to help Tony, who refuses to take painkillers after injuring both arms.
Something I Left Behind by @aksannyi [E, 5,894 word count, complete]
This is a missing scene from Past, Present, Future, which explains how Tali came to be. Yes, the M rating is there for a reason. This is angsty, given the nature of the episode it comes from.
Under Pressure by @aksannyi [E, 4,338 word count, complete]
She didn't need to kiss him then, but she did, and suddenly they were no longer pretending. Tony and Ziva learn a lot about each other while they're under cover. Tag to 3x08, Under Covers.
Treading Water by Mechabeira [T, 191,744 word count, complete]
"You can still swim, can't you? You're going to have to tow her in, DiNozzo. We aren't going to let her just tread water."
There are so so so many more great authors out there, so I’ll list their FF.net and AO3 pages (the ones I can remember): Zays, jae-vous, brightblue, Anonymous033, Strawberry Shortcake123, AliyahNCIS, quotelation (@quotelation), McGeekle (@mcgeekle), LittleSammy, pro-bee (@pro-bee), xoxonessie (@xoxonessie), alacarton (@ahtlolevad-fics) and MANY OTHERS THAT I SURELY FORGOT (for that I’m sorry, but I tried my best).
Please feel free to fangirl with me about all those stories (haha I’m always opened to that) and to click in their accounts to see more great ones!! I just linked some I like most, but there are authors who wrote about 20-50 tiva stories with the same quality I linked it here. Be sure to check their profiles out!!
ALSO IMPORTANT TIP
From someone who loves tiva fanfiction, the works about it are scattered throughout more than a decade, so there’s A LOT (a lot, no joke) of good fanfiction both on FF.net and AO3. Some of the authors are still active on Tumblr, and if you like someone’s type of posts, try to ask them if they wrote something (what I love here is that most people active on the fandom eventually turn into writers) or even if they haven’t I’m sure they would recommend some great ones!
I hope I could help you somehow, and I’m sure Anthony DiNozzo and Ziva David will still have a lot of new authors to cherish them, their story is not over yet.
thanks, anon!! xoxo Sofia
#tiva fanfiction#fic rec#sofia rambles about fics#i'm sure that are many many many more that i didn't include because i'm dumb#and forgot about it#that i sure love#but i really tried to bring some good ones#anyway thank you for the question anon!!!#this made me see HOW OLD I AM#following these two idiots since god knows when#THEY HAVE MY HEART OK#ask

#Bull - Season 5, Episode 4 “The Ex Factor” Episode Review
"TAC BRACES FOR AN UN-JOLLY CHRISTMAS WHEN BULL AND BENNY REPRESENT MARISSA AND HER ESTRANGED HUSBAND IN FEDERAL COURT WHEN THEY’RE CHARGED WITH MONEY LAUNDERING AND FRAUD" -- Spoiler TV (2020)
Hello and Welcome Longtime followers and Bull Fans; I hope you are well and healthy still during this crazy period, wherever you are located in the world; as this review is going to be the last review for the 2020/2021 tv Season for Bull, I would like to see comments and predictions of what you want to see in 2021 S5 of Bull and so with that let's dive into the final review of 2020 for Bull, Season 5 Ep. 4 of Bull deals and tackles with the “The Ex Factor” – TAC braces for an un-jolly Christmas when Bull and Benny represent Marissa and her estranged husband, Greg (David Furr), in federal court after they’re charged with money laundering and fraud connected to Greg’s restaurant. As Bull and Benny defend the divorcing couple together so the prosecution can’t use them against each other, they search for jurors who will believe Marissa did not know about Greg’s business dealings. Also, as Bull and Izzy prepare to baptize Astrid before the Christmas holiday, they reach an impasse regarding what they want from their renewed relationship (SpolierTv,2020) So let’s dive into the next section of the development of key characters of the episode.
Key Character Development of Episode 4 of Season 5 of Bull This week on Bull, we got to see how they develop the characters overall forward and develop the relationships of certain characters. Let's get into the characters that were a key focus of this episode. 1. Marrisa
So finally, we are getting development in characters that we have not seen since S2 or S3, and this episode highlights what has happened with Marrisa and how she has to fight to get a discovery from her ex-husband and to find out that he has been in a money-laundering scheme with this restaurant, we finally get to see Marrisa in a different light as we are used to having Marisa at TAC watching the screen, it good to see a change in the dynamic of the show
2. Benny
As Bull's Closest friend, we get to see Benny go through the emotions of having him to decide Bull and Issy getting married again and how he was there for Bull, with his truth bombs of wisdom about Issy and his relationship with her before and after the decisive and also get to see more of the context of how Benny and Bull became the close friends that they are today 3. Issy
This week, the Bull writers have finally started to work on Issy. How her feelings are about the divorce and the miscarriage and also what her love for Bull is, and throughout the previous seasons on the show, we get little to no context of information about her character and so this episode for me is one of the best episodes of development for Issy after her introduction episode back in season 1 of the show. I think that she has come a long way from the sort of not relying on Bull to being in a fully committed relationship with him; I will dive into the relationship part further into the review.
4. Bull
In Season 5 of Bull, we have finally got to see MW's soft side, which we have known since the days that he was on NCIS. This episode proves that we need to see more of this side of Bull, as most of his relationships crave this, like with Benny and Issy and his Baby Girl; this episode gives us, bull's side to the story of his feelings was before the divorce, and after the situation happened between the two. I feel that we are going to into a period on the Show of Bull that will be more of a toned-down Bull, that we get to see his emotions, which we will start to seep into the cases that he develops and represents at TAC. The Key Relationship Development That Happen in Episode 4 of S5 of Bull - Bull and Isabella (Issy)
Now with the major cliffhanger of the show, with these two tying the knot again, this episode gave the audience a much-needed glimpse into this relationship as they have been through a lot of ups and downs as a couple. As they are new parents to Baby Bull, we finally get to see some of that love they have for each other again, beginning to rise again. As I have mentioned in my previous reviews of Bull, this relationship needed to be explored more as this couple has been in the past. As through the show's seasons, the writers have eluded to there is more to the story of with these two. P.s. I want to see more of these two together. -Marisa and Her ex-husband
After we get to see the happy couple of the show in Bull and Issy, we show season 5 episode 4 's storyline relationship. We get to see how these two loved each other and placed the trust in each other. Also, we got to see the downfall of the relationship and the lack of communication between them and Marrisa, making sure she has to do everything in her power to make sure that she is protected herself. The resolution of the case was a straightforward point. But I but we see the development of them having Christmas dinner together. To me, which is a little bit of a double edge sword when It comes to their relationship. I hope that the writers start to make sure that Marrisa starts to have more of a relationship with herself and her friends. Bull and Benny
We are back with these two again; in this episode, we get to see Benny dropping the truth bombs of wisdom when it comes to Bull and Issy's relationship as he has been there the whole time from the beginning of the relationship to the breakdown and the reemergence of the relationship, I love FR & MW's scenes together this episode, as it was a bull and Issy focused episode, we finally to get to see the other side of. Benny, as we only get the professional side of Benny in most episodes, and with the changes in Benny's life, I think that we are going to explore more this relationship and Bull, Marrisa, and Benny
This episode was the Christmas episode with a crazy storyline. Still, It had a great development of this relationship and how MW, GC, and FR's performance of this relationship between the characters we are drawn to make sure that they are a brother and sister type of friendship and willing to support her innocence to the end. I hope in S5 part b in 2021, we get to explore these relationships between them, as Benny is getting Ready to move on to a new job soon. Bull and The Tac Team
This episode of Bull gave us a small glimpse of the team in action as the episode was more based on the relationships mentioned above in the review. But I hope in season 5, part B of Bull, and I hope to see more development of the team and the team in action as best it can be achieved in the current world events. The Defence strategy of the case, As this was the last episode of 2020 for S5 of Bull. I was hoping to see a good defense strategy, so we got the following, as the case can be tried as a strong defense with both wife and husband, so there is control of the case's narrative. But I did not see any jury selection for the case. As the team was focused on the case at hand, we got to see a small moment. The best and weird, wacky and worst moments of Season 5 of episode 4 of Bull Best Moments 1. The Production Crew did a great job as always 2. The relationship development of some of the characters that were well needed 3. Benny's Truth Bombs of wisdom 4. The twist at the end of the episode 5. Benny and Bull doing everything to protect Marrisa from the charges
6. GC's performance in the witness box in the courtroom
Weird, Wacky, and Worst Moments of the episode 1. The scene when Benny and Bull are talking about Bull's Christmas present for his sister 2. The scene in the church and Benny is looking awkward 3. The resolution of the court case for the episode 4. I wanted more of TAC in action as we were missing some of the characters as it was a Bull and Issy based episode 5. The scene that I found weird and wacky was the scene before Marrisa testified in court, and they are all in the car together talking Overall thoughts and opinions on Episode 4 of Bull S5 Episode 4 of Bull S5 is a Christmas episode for 2020 as we got to see how the relationship development is going for some of the show's favorite characters. Overall, the episode was full of beautiful and sweet moments and weird, wacky moments that the show is known for. This gave the audience something to be added to the canon of the show, and I like the writers decided to have Issy proposed to Bull as it can be seen as her commitment to the relationship and her love for Bull. I can't wait for S5 part b of Bull to dive into more of these two as I can see them having a long engagement. Also, I loved the juxtaposition of the storylines of relationships on the show, with Marrisa and her ex-husband. It gave the audience some of the struggles that they faced over time. And then eventually the break down of the relationship. Also, in the episode, we got to see Benny dropping his truth bombs of wisdom when it comes to bull and issy, but the one downfall of the episode was that it had limited interaction and the TAC Team's development. I hope that Bull writers in 2021 tackle more of the development there with some of the major characters presented on the show. The Overall Rating for the episode is a 7/10 As this is the last review of 2020 for Bull, as I am writing this review, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy New year of 2021. I will be back in 2021 for more recaps on S5 of Bull episodes, but until then, let me know what you like to see in the rest of S5 of Bull in the comments section below. Again Merry Christmas and Have a Safe and Healthy 2021. From the Woman Who Writes TV Reviews

what is your favorite season of 2? “season twoooo. magnum and higgins as partners is actual perfection”- @chasethesun18 (this was a great description so i saw no reason to change it)
how long have you watched 1? the past 8 years of my life have been spent watching the reagan family. what a clan.
how did you become interested in 3? my dad was obsessed with the original 5-0 so when the reboot happened my parents wanted to watch it. i loved the whole ohana vibe from the show so naturally i got into it.
who is your favorite actor in 4? hmmm... i love mark harmon because gibbs is so classic but emily wickersham and wilmer valderrama are amazing as well
which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5? this is hard. blue bloods was my life for 6 years but mpi has it now so..... 2? BUT ALSO jlu was my childhood.
which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3? 1 (blue bloods) because i’ve followed it more consistently and for longer than 5-0
if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? hmmmm... i guess sloane because i feel like our personalities are the most similar.
would a crossover between 3 and 4 work? i think so! too bad 5-0 is over now though. we do know that they exist in the same universe tho so an ncis 5-0 team up would be epic.
pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? danny and baez i guess? i can’t decide if i ship them or not. i love them both individually and i wouldn’t be super pissed if they became more than friends.
overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5? this is hard. jlu had better storylines in terms of contingency, but i think 5-0 had more character focused storylines.
which has better theme music, 2 or 4? magnum pi!!! i listen to their theme song soooooo much!!!!

Scorpion Season 1
I have watched Scorpion several times and thought I would post about each episode, favourite moments, quotes, thoughts questions I have!
This will be heavily quintis based as I love their relationship ❤
Not done this before so here goes.........
1.01 - one of the best pilot episodes I've seen was hooked from the start. Loved seeing the relationships from the beginning Happy and Toby had chemistry from the start
Sneaky cameo from the real Walter o'Brian, caring Paige, OCD Sylvester, Cocky Toby, Insensitive Walter and Snarky Happy
Question: is that how Eddie runs or does he run like that as Toby always makes me laugh?
Favourite scene - server scene with Happy and Toby it showed Toby's unique profiling skills
Favourite quote Happy " I hate you" Toby "no you dont"
1.02 - start to see the characters back stories Toby with his gambling, Walter and Megan, Happy being abandoned and remembering it and Cabe and the loss of his daughter
Happy seemed jealous of Toby keeping current with his ex fiancee
Toby bites his nails when he is nervous or worried you see it for the first time in this episode
Favourite scene - happy and toby in the truck talking about love
You see Happy sharing personal details with Toby starting to show the depth of their friendship
Favorite quote - Toby "Earl knows his way around a hoagie"
I love that Sly gives his pay cheque away money isn't everything
Loved meeting Megan bought out a softer side of Walter
Wished Toby was at the BBQ instead of gambling think he realised it was ok to move on from Amy
1.03 - meeting Merrick for the first time who doesn't like Scorpion
Happy assaulting a Marine is hilarious
Happy feeling up Toby to take money is a good insight into their future
Happy and Toby reading together is so cute
Favourite quote - "be determined to have a great day and you will"
"Mensa please there are pornstars in mensa"
Favourite scene - end scene Scorpion is a family like a Cyclone
1.04 - Walters interpersonal skills in this episode are seriously lacking from how he speaks to Toby to his flippant dismissal of the card dealer
The way Walter speaks to Toby is out of line gambling is a risk one Walter wanted Toby to take how is it his fault he lost the money. Walter said some hurtful things to Toby it must of hurt to hear them from his supposed best friend
First sign of Toby's attraction to Happy when he makes a comment about having worse views when following her in the vents
Favourite scene - Happy and Toby zip lining to the casino showed happy's skills she made it look so easy and the start of Tony saying 'oh my........'
Favourite quote - "I'm like a blind man at a peep show what's the point"
1.05 - I love this episode get to be introduced to Mark Collins and see Happy truly angry and Toby starting to understand how to help her
Favourite quote- "if this nuclear powerplant doesn't melt down the team might"
Favourite scene- the end scene with the look between Toby and Happy
To me this episode is the starting point of Quintis from the note passed between them to Toby defending Happy to Collins to 'that look' between them at the end. I think that look is when Happy starts thinking of Toby as other than a friend
Question - do you think Happy kept the note? I like to think she has a keepsake section of a toolbox and things like the note goes in there
1.06 - I like how this episode switches between the physic evaluations and the story. It shows how the team all rely on Walter and how much respect they have for him
I feel like Walter uses his lack of emotions as an excuse for his actions
Quick cameo from Hetty from ncis - the dress on Paige looked amazing
This episode also sees the start of Tony's obsession with Happy dressing up
First introduced to super fun guy Sly's love for the action hero is a great character arc
Favourite quote-"you cant make an omelette without breaking a few eggs" or "just starting to see the scope of what's to be done"
Favourite scene-Toby getting crushed by wine bottles gets me everytime
1.07 - The team meets Drew, Ralph's dad the first of several interlopers into the team
Toby's keen perception skills pick up Happys feelings on not knowing her dad. Happy shreds Toby's finding but obviously regrets it and puts it back together
Seeing how much the guys care about Ralph and the impact of Drew coming back is really sweet
Favourite scene- Toby listening to 'Brandy' and singing in the car. Downloaded this song myself love that this show opened my eyes to new music
Favourite quote- "I'm gonna slap it like ot owes me money" or "I'm so turned on" or "serious as a pink freen and dont call me Shirly, BAM that's how you do it Cabe"
1.08 - why does Toby seem so excited to go into a crime scene?
Toby working up the courage to ask out Happy is a very 'normal' fear it puts him out of his comfort zone
Toby in a suit looking fit!
Question - how do you think Happys date went? I like to think she calls Toby after as it went so bad that they meet and go for pie or something
Favourite scene- Paige singing Kat has a really beautiful voice
Favourite quote- Paige"so him jumping the fence" Toby "he's meditating"
1.09 - this episode gives you a back story to Cabes character and his strong family values
Walter has a surprising EQ moment giving cabe the letters Rebecca wrote
Favourite scene- there wasn't one scene in this episode that stood out for me but Robert Patrick's acting definitely was the best of the episode
Favourite quote- "dear lord thank you for this gift"
Walter seems alot more in tune with his emotions and understanding other his relationship with cabe grew during this episode
1.10- probably my favourite episode of season 2
Loved seeing Megan and Sly interact and there friendship develop
Happy must be starting to feel safe around Toby to fall asleep on his shoulder and let her guard down
Walter doesn't know how to process peoples emotions of grief
The end Happy and Toby scene shows Happy needs time and in her way asks Toby not to give up
Favourite quote- ' I'm Happy' ' and I'm dying but you don't see me telling everyone'
Favourite scene- Happy and Toby on the rocks where Toby is sorting Happy's ankle. Toby is being truthful about his feeling and Happy is not sure how to react so they default to there defense mechanisms of wise cracks and putting up a shield
1.11 - I hate to love this episode any episode where Sly is hurt shouldn't be such a good episode but seeing how each member of the team deal with his injuries gives a real insight to their characters
I would of really of liked to see Toby tending to Sly at the scene he always deals with these emergency situations well
Love Megan...... just saying
I like how Toby walks to Happys truck like being by her possessions soothes him
In so many episodes Toby supports Happy and provides comfort in his own way but on this episode Happy is there for Toby when he is struggling to process the events
More scenes with Toby in his underwear please 🔥
Favourite quote- 'I'm taking a minute' ' we dont have a minute' 'I'm taking one any way'
Favourite scene- the end scene where the team are reading comics around Sly bed
1.12 - there are not many episodes where I actually like Walter but this is one of them what he does to save the boy is amazing and shows he doed have feelings
One of the few if only episide I dont like Sly when a kids life is at risk his insecurities should take 2nd place
Love Christmas episodes even with Black sabbath
Does anyone notice Toby putting his hand on Happy's shoulder in the cave to comfort her
Happy always listens to Toby may not seem it at the time but you later find out she has like going to see her father
I wonder if Toby and Happy spend Christmas day together I would like to think they meet and grab a meal at Kavalskis or have a take away
Toby watching Happy leave the hotel room he knows exactly where she is going I often eat h the background scenes more then the main ones
Favourite quote- ' I watch you work sometimes' 'thank you for making this creepy'
Favourite scene- Ralphs present and where Paige gives out her Christmas ornament gifts so many funny quips
1.13 - 1 step forward 2 steps back with Walter this episode shows his naivety with Ralph
Happys face when Toby said he was going to use the van as a make out hut with a lucky lady is it a jealous face or a will that lucky lady be me face??
I love seeing behaviourist Toby just as much as the daft funny one
El Gaupo loves this Sly is hilarious
Favourite quote- 'your no good with your hands, your a spiller'
'I'm rocking so much adrenaline right now my blood is basically redbull'
Favourite scene- this is actually a deleted scene from the dvd out takes happy teaching tobyvto break into a safe and Toby showing her digital surgery shows them wanting to understand each other more
1.14 - love how the genius cannot fathom the text message could be a genuine love messsge
Another jealous moment from Happy the look on her face when Toby ask if the lady owns a catsuit very amusing
Walter looks so uncomfortable talking to Fatima even with Paige in his ear he is clueless
Toby and Happy both looking like they have made an effort in their looks in this episode perhaps for each other??
Question anyone notice how Happy and Toby always stand next to each other or offer yo work together??
Favourite quote- 'did they rush Mozart when he wrote a sonet'
Favourite scene- happy scaling the building 'because she's Happy freaking Quinn'
1.15 - Walter has very selfish view on Ralph potentially moving to Portland he thinks he is the only one who can help Ralph
Toby's skills shine in this episode his facial expressions are hilarious but he manages to stay serious to deal with the situation
Favourite scene- another episode I dont really have a favourite scene it's an ok episode not much Quintis storyline
Favourite quote- 'it's cold hard metal yet so delicate and beatiful' - anyone else thinks Toby is talking about Happy not what she has made
'Andrew' 'its drew actually' 'and Drew is short for what exactly Michael'
1.16- this is a turning point episode for quintis Happy realises Toby is truly interested in exploring something more with her and Toby realises Happy values their friendship and just needs time....... like half a day till the end of the episode lol
Love Paige's outfit would love to be able to pull that off
Favourite quote- 'love can be misspelled and messy it just needs to be given a chance'
Favourite scene- the almost kiss obviously- Happy finally letting her guard down reaching out to hold Toby's hand and almost kissing
I like to think Happy and Toby went out for drinks after - not a date but maybe to talk or Toby to talk and Happy to sit stoically
1.17 - the is a lovely Melvester episode it really shows the love develping between them and the last scene dancing us lovely
I find Walter particularly arrogant in this episode wanting to prove something
Toby's eyes following Happy as she walks up the plane small looks and actions between them hint at a developing relationship
Anyone notice how close Happy stands to Toby when he is sat on the counter they are definitely touching she may even be leaning on him
Toby is so worried about Happy he literally stands by the door waiting for her to come back
Favourite quote- 'a very embarrassed person I just got kidnapped by 4th grader'
'I'm dangling a human being by a bed sheet that is my status'
Favourite scene- where the team are waiting to see if the kid does runner everyone doubting Toby and his skills only to be proven he was right and profiled the kid accurately
I'm actually changing my mind the scene between Walter and Sly is really moving and shows how much they love each other
I always like to think what would happen with the characters after and between episodes at this point I think Happy and Toby would be spending alot of time together after the trips grabbing a beer and pizza getting to know each other away from scorpion
1.18 - an ok episode introduces ferret bueller the team pet
Happy's face when Toby stops the doctor from injecting Walter obviously likes tough Toby making a stand
Favourite quote- 'are we judging people on their past resumes as you were a departmental Santa to help pay for college'
Favourite scene- the kiss...... comes as a shock to us and Toby, he us clearly surprised doesn't know what to do with his hands. If you listen carefully you can hear toby hum in the kiss clearly enjoying it. Happy also doesn't want it spoiling by Toby's analysis hence telling him to shut up
1.19 - Toby leaves his hat behind doesn't want yo loose the present Happy bought him
Happy annoyed at Toby for trying to protect her she has been independent for so long having someone care enough to risk his life unsettles her and she doesn't know how to deal with it
First time Toby really admits how he feels even though he gets an extinguisher in his face Hapy knows what he is trying to say
Song at the end by the old 97's another great song not heard until watching this series
Favourite quote- I'm the gambling expert we be dating
Favourite scene- the last scene with Happy and Toby on the roof they dont even look where the paper plane goes they are going on a date!!
1.20 - oh dear poor Happy poor Toby what an idiot!
Toby being nervous is so cute but poor guy sleeping through his date bad move
I think that Happy wasn't quite in the right place to start dating Toby what he did was stupid but not unforgivable I think she wanted an excuse and she was too scared to get involved and risk getting hurt or risk their friendship and this gave her the perfect excuse to stop it before it went any further
Even when she is mad at him she still wants the closeness by standing next to him and he is the one assisting her on the bus
The fact Happy still calls him Doc 'her name for him' shows she still cares her anger is a defense mechanism because she finally opened herself up and she got hurt something she didnt think Toby would ever do even though it wast intentional
Favourite scene - Toby talking to happy in the bus opening up about his past and his insecurities
Favourite quote- probability theroy dictates you cannot predict the future with absolute certainty but this is an exception there is zero chance she will accept your appology
1.21 - not overly keen on this episode Walter was extreme in his reaction to Cabes secret especially considering his big secret!
Happy is still annoyed at Toby yet she walks over and keeps standing close to him when in the garage
Anyone notice how their actions start to mimic each other - both standing hands in Jean pockets it's like they are in sync with each other
Favourite scene- watching this episode makes me realise there is no favourite scene but it is a great backstory to the next episode
Favourite quote- 'lying billionaire says what'
1.22 - poor Walter doesn't deal with abandonment or trust issues very well
Toby is amazing saving Walter's life without actually touching him
Happy offering for Toby to come babysit with her, she's thawing towards Toby friendship is getting back on track
Favourite quote- 'that dont have the brain power of me with a hangover and him when hes sleeping'
Favourite scene- I love this whole episode keeps you gripped to the edge of your seat
Recap on Season 1
Favourite Episode - there are several which make my top episodes the episode in Bosnia, Love Boat but I think 1.19 is my favourite high action surrounded by fire with so.e lovely Quintis moments
Favorite Scene - Quintis first kiss a moment which had been building fir several episodes
A great first season building all the characters back stories this is my best season for Paige she is still genuine I feel as seasons go on she looses who she was.
I love the Megan and Sky story 2 damaged persons one physically one emotionally finding love
Walter I cant gel with the character I know he is the leas but I find him condensing and arrogant (I'm sorry not a popular opinion I'm sure)
Quintis- this season is all about building their backstory to their relationship they are both emotionally damaged by their pasts. They start as work colleagues and friends, grow to best friends who learn to share and rely on each other and stronger feelings develop.
Toby realises his feelings first and is more open and honest about them, Happy is slower on the uptake and reluctant to be a thing more then friends as she doesn't want to risk what they have. Eventually she gives in to her feelings that kiss and arrange a date. Things dont go well and she quickly retreats back to Angry Happy. After such a close ckmall with Walter I think she realises life is too short and seemingly forgives Toby asking him to babysit with her..... what happens then is left to our imaginations - I like to think they go back to the garage Toby needs someone with him that night to prevent him gambling and Happy knows this. He struggles saving his best friends life not being able to physically help. I think they talk like old friends Toby doesn't push it as he knows the time isnt quite right and they have a night if beer, pizza and chat
Let's see what Season 2 brings .............

The Complete List of Gibbs Rules - NCIS
Special Agent Jethro Gibbs and His Rules
On the TV show NCIS, Jethro Gibbs provides words to live by in the form of Gibbs Rules. There are many different Gibbs Rules, some are based on being an agent like rule #9 - "Don't Go Anywhere Without a Knife". Others are based on being in the Marines like rule #23 - "Don't Mess With a Marines Coffee, If You Want to Live". Some are based on life like rule #44 - "First Things First, Hide the Women and Children". At one point, Dinozzo revealed there were seven rules that dealt with lawyers, to date, we've only heard one of the seven. In season 3, episode 4, Zeva ask Gibbs how many rules he has, and Gibbs states 50. In the final episode of season 7, when Gibbs turns over rule #13 and writes rule #51. Since then, Rule 69 was revealed, indicating, the fearless NCIS leader has been adding to his list. In total only 35 of Gibbs rules have been revealed. At first, it was thought there were only 50 rules, however, as the seasons have gone on, there seems to be a growing number of rules as the latest rule 73 was revealed in Season 16.
The Complete List of Gibbs Rules - 1 thru 25
Gibbs Rule #1 - "Never Let Suspects Stay Together" Gibbs Alternate Rule #1 - "Never Screw Over Your Partner" - No one is sure why the writers had two Number 1 rules, however, they probably weren't keeping track at the time. In NCIS Season 8, Episode 11 (Ships in the Night), Magee acknowledges that there were two Number 1 rules when Gibbs decides to break Rule #1, Never Let suspects stay together. Gibbs Rule #2 - "Always Wear Gloves at a Crime Scene" Gibbs Rule #3 - "Don't Believe What Your are Told, Double Check" and Gibbs Alternate Rule #3 - "Never be Unreachable" Gibbs Rule #4 - "The Best Way to Keep a Secret, Keep it to yourself" - Corollary 1 to Rule #4 - "The 2nd Best Way to Keep a Secret, Tell One Other Person, if You Must" Corollary 2 to Rule #4 - "There is no Third Best" Gibbs Rule #5 - "You Don't Waste Good" - Season 8, Episode 22 Gibbs Rule #6 - "Never Say Your Sorry" Gibbs Rule #7 - "Always be Specific When you Lie" Gibbs Rule #8 - "Never Take Anything for Granted" Gibbs Rule #9 - "Never Go Anywhere Without a Knife" Mentioned in Season 8, Episode 9 Gibbs Rule #10 - "Never Get Personally Involved on a Case" - Jethro burned this rule in Season 16, Episode 13 Gibbs Rule #11 - "When the Job is Done, Walkaway Gibbs Rule #12 - "Never Date a Co-Worker" Gibbs Rule #13 - "Never Ever Involve Lawyer" It is also mentioned that there are 7 rules that involve lawyers. DFYcontent 5 years ago That's like asking which one of your kids you like best ;-)The one that springs to mind right now is Stakeout (5x12). Loved the crime, the team interactions,... just a very enjoyable and fun episode to watch (again and again).
anonymous 6 years ago when Abby and Ziva slap each other
anonymous 7 years ago #37 has been revealed. Tony gave McGee Gibbs's coffee......#37 never mess with a marines coffee. And then of course they mentioned something about "dead man walking" :D
GrowthSpark 7 years ago Thanks for pulling all the rules together, I hear them on the program and often wonder if they are duplicated as I don't keep track. I just love the NCIS humor.
grannysage 7 years ago Kate: What did Ducky look like when he was younger?Gibbs (smiling slightly): Illya Kuryakin.I'm a David McCallum fan. This is a great lens.
ssalunkhe 7 years ago Thanks for sharing the lens. I would love to live my life by Gibbs rules.
DesignedbyLisa LM 7 years ago I was looking for this list! Thanks for keeping track.
Nightcat 7 years ago This is awesome, I was hoping a list of his rules would come out some day. Angel Blessings!
Nancy Tate Hellams 7 years ago from Pendleton, SCI loved seeing these 50 Jethro Gibbs Rules. I love all the NCIS episodes and have probably seen each of them at least 3 times. I can't think of my favorite right now.
MyFairLadyah2 7 years ago Love this show - Can't think of a favorite episonde/moment - Nice Lens!
AUTHORTom Fattes 7 years ago from Naperville, IL@Gail47: Our whole family gathers around the TV on Tuesday nights to watch NCIS. Kids must have their homework done first though, Dad's rule #2.
AUTHORTom Fattes 7 years ago from Naperville, IL@ijbgraphics: Yep, I think that was at the beginning of season 7. We've been watching each season in order.
ijbgraphics 7 years ago when they go to rescue Ziva and Gibbs snipes the terrorist :) Nice lens btw
Gail47 7 years ago Tony and Ziva in Paris - those to actors have great charisma! Love all of NCIS and have watched every NCIS on USA there is. Family knows when "Gibbs" is on, I'm rarely available. Wonderful lens.
anonymous 7 years ago I'm glad to find your lens. I now know what to get my sister-in-law for Christmas. She is the biggest NCIS fan in the state of Alabama. She DVRs every episode and watches them over and over. I didn't know there were NCIS tee shirts...I've put this lens in favorites and will have to get her one for Christmas...she will love it! Cool lens!
Nathalie Roy 7 years ago from France (Canadian expat)I love his grumpy character on NCIS. I think the best scenes are when he is interacting with Abby.
APackageAtTheDoor 7 years ago We just recently started watching NCIS, and I think what hooked me was a scene from one of the first episodes I saw, "Twisted Sister" about McGee's sister. It's a scene with Gibbs, Jenny and Abby. Abby starts imitating Gibbs and Jenny and then says something like, "The kids don't like it when the parents argue." My jaw just dropped and I howled with laughter. I knew I was going to love this show!
bernie74 lm 8 years ago Oh My, there are just too man to choose from. I could sit and re watch them all. But I must admit I do love the episode where Tone and Tim a caught and Tony is injected with truth serum and they find out that Ziva is still alive. and the look her and Gibs exchange when she is being recued is awesome. But there are many others
AUTHORTom Fattes 8 years ago from Naperville, IL@anonymous: I had to go back and look at the episode again because I had originally marked it as Rule 16. After watching the episode I did verify it was Rule 16.
Jen 8 years ago from CanadaI love Gibbs Rules and Head Slaps (though these seem to be dwindling). Twilight is the episode that sticks out and S.W.A>k. I also like the McGee heavy episodes. He's my favorite character. Rule 3 and Rule 8 seem similar to me. I wonder if they noticed that in hind sight.
anonymous 8 years ago Gibb's Rule #14 was revealed in the last episode of this season (May, 2011). Tony said:"If the suspect has the upper hand - break it."
TeacherSerenia 8 years ago I dont have any favourite NCIS moment but I love any moments with Abbey or McGee in them. I think they are both very smart. I hate DiNozzo always puttin McGee down - especially when he calls McGee Probie - that is just plain nasty.
Wednesday-Elf 8 years ago from Savannah, GeorgiaI love ALL NCIS episodes and have many favorite moments. But my favorite 'Line' was said by Tony - "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got!" The many NCIS fans in my family quote that line to each other frequently, in appropriate moments. It should be a Gibbs RULE! :)Gibbs Rules are a part of NCIS that I look forward to in each episode. Keep waiting to hear more. Such fun to read them altogether here. And, am absolutely crazy about the 'bloopers' - hadn't seen them before! Good job putting this together. ~~A SquidAngel NCIS fan is leaving a Blessing~~ Read the full article

Directed by: Suzanne Saltz is directing her first episode after working as the show's first assistant director or second assistant director since the start of season two.
A goodbye and a hello behind the scenes.
Guest stars of note: Azie Tesfai returns from "Queen Pin" as King as does Lester Speight at Max "Champ" Champion; David Meunier as Barris Stone; Dan Feurriegel as Angus Reeves; Lawrence Adimora as Mark Nichols; Weston Coppola Cage as Walker; Michael Rivera as Eddy Davis; Lara Clear as Sasha Channing; Antoine Williams as James Brigham and kudos to Bruce Thomas's agent for getting him credit as "Bruce Thomas as LA District Attorney Frank Gibson" from "Queen Pin" without physically appearing in the episode except in the “previouslys” and in a newspaper article photo.
Our heroes: Learn a lot more about Hidoko, cryptocurrency and how Sam spent some of his downtime.
What important things did we learn about:
Callen: Meeting with the ATF about Anna. Sam: Spent some time likely recovering from his own traumas with King. Kensi: Chronically late to the party. Deeks: Thinking about buying a bar. Eric: Figures out Sam's tracking device scheme. Nell: Dumpster diving instead of Deeks. Mosley: Proud of both Sam and Eric for doing excellent work. Hetty: Owner of a kevlar leather jacket.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: Doesn't want Deeks touching him. Sam: Switch again. Kensi: Going to kill Deeks for seeing 'Star Wars' without her. Deeks: Has some cryptocurrency burning a hole in his pocket. Eric: Calling ambulances for Nell, LAPD for Deeks. Nell: Very up on cryptocurrency. Mosley: A little miffed Sam put Hidoko in danger. Hetty: Out today.
Who's down with OTP: With no scenes together other than King's arrest, the Kensi and Deeks chatter is more Deeks talking to Callen about doing something else besides being shot at by terrorists for the safety of a future little Deeks.
Who's down with BrOTP: With no scenes together other than King's arrest, Callen hung around mostly comfortably with Deeks who offered to be his Cop Friend, Lawyer Friend and Friend-Friend while Sam spent some great time with Hidoko. This mix and match worked well.
Any pressing need for Harm and Mac: Not today.
Today in Harley: Great Harley episode and if they spent season nine building up this interesting character who is as smart as Nell and badass as Kensi just to have her possibly be the person who died at the start of "Ninguna Salida" – that will be another disgraceful storytelling choice.
Fashion review: Medium blue button down shirt with the double pockets (feh) for Callen. A rare non-black henley for Sam to start this episode- this one is brick red. Kensi is in a light blue-grey long-sleeve shirt with black horizontal stripes. Black tee for Deeks (more of that please). Dark blue plaid short-sleeve shirt for Eric over light grey tee. White dress with medium grey vertical stripes for Nell with vertical stripes with a black blazer for Nell. Black dress with little gold butterflies for Mosley. Grey long sleeve sweater for Hidoko. I'm sure Hetty looked smashing at home.
Later in the episode, Sam and Hidoko are in all black with black leather jackets – fashionable and in the case of Hidoko, one of Hetty's jackets. Nell gets her own version of Artie as she goes homeless in the field.
Music: "Hey Mama" by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats is playing the Callen/Deeks bar scene.
Any notable cut scene: No.
Quote: Sam: "As much as we'd like to believe it everything isn't black and white. Nobody's all good or all bad. We all have flaws. We all have virtues. Comes down to choices." Hidoko: "My husband used to say that. I was in Afghanistan, and I got summoned by my CO. The next thing I know, I'm being flown to a nearby combat support hospital in Kandahar. When I got there he was in he was in really bad shape. Something came over me, and I proposed to him right there. I was so scared. Someone called the chaplain, and he married us right there on the spot. He died shortly after on the table." Sam: "I didn't know." Hidoko: "You know, I may be out of line, but I think it's okay to feel. You perform like a superhero, but you cannot forget that you're human."
Anything else: Near the port in San Pedro, two armed, masked men push their way into a rundown warehouse. There are a series of servers in this building. An employee tells the robbers they have no money. The robbers are there for something specific and pistol whips the employee. The robbers want the keycodes. Playing dumb, the employee pretends he doesn't know what the keycodes are and gets shot in the foot for his lie.
Taking the robbers to the back of the warehouse, the employee opens the safe and gives the men the keycodes. When they are loaded into the robbers' phones, a second employee arrives with a gun calling for James. A gunman is shot, the employee is executed by the other gunman. The second employee tries to get closer to the gunmen but the healthy gunman pushes a wall of servers knocking the guard to the ground. The gunman flees after killing the second man, leaving his wounded cohort begging for help.
Sam is signing off on some paperwork when Kensi arrives. She's so excited. She just finished the "Cynical" podcast in the car and she can't believe everyone didn't figure that the mom was a twin. Sam and Nell do not look happy. Realizing she may have spoiled the podcast for them, Kensi apologizes tor the lack of spoiler warning. Nell disagrees – spoiler alerts for podcasts they recommended a year and a half ago aren't needed. Sam tells Kensi she does this all the time – comes in with old news or old stories and then gets upset when they're not excited. He feigns excitement before telling her she's chronically late to the party.
Kensi pretends she's not bothered but she is. And she isn't asking either of them to see "Star Wars" this weekend. Not a problem – Sam and Nell both saw it. Sam isn't sure it is still in theaters. Kensi doesn't care. She is going to see it with Deeks. Nell says "Deeks?" and Sam shakes his head 'no' at her. Kensi is not happy Deeks saw "Star Wars" without her. She wants to kill him but she can't because he left for work before she even got up. Eric arrives with news. Callen is talking to ATF about Anna. Eric can tell everyone more about Deeks up in Ops. Kensi pulls Eric aside – did he see "Star Wars". Nell tells her they all saw "Star Wars".
Eric reviews the robbery at the cryptocurrency farm in San Pedro. The thieves wound up with $10 million in bitcoin. The left behind gunman survived. Kensi asks how did they steal the bitcoins – security video playing is of the shootout. Eric and Nell chuckle as they explain how bitcoins weren't physically stolen – the access codes were.
The captured gunman was Mark Nichols. He was treated at UCLA and released to NCIS's custody. He's in the boatshed. Security video near the warehouse shows Sasha Channing and Angus Reeves, known associates of Barris Stone. Sam knows Barris Stone – the European Pablo Escobar. Law enforcement does not have a record of Stone entering the US. Sam thinks if Channing and Reeves are in the US, Stone is in the US. Sam sees this as an opportunity to arrest Barris and shut him down for good.
Channing is on security cameras at a downtown café. Deeks is watching her and Callen is on his way. Sam wants Kensi to interview Nichols – take Nell. Nell asks Sam what is he going to do. "Something I hoping I wouldn't have to," Sam replies.
Mosley tells Sam whatever he's planning is risky. Sam pulls up newspaper article about Frank Gibson, the disgraced DA and his partner King. Sam thinks using his Switch alias will get him close to Stone. Mosley is worried because DA Gibson was killed right after his trial. The Switch alias could be burned. Sam says they're not sure Stone killed Gibson, Mosley isn't sure he did not. Mosley wants Sam to talk to King, who has been under strict supervision since her arrest. Mosley warns Sam about ways to get around that supervision. Hidoko arrives – Mosley is sending Hidoko out with him. Callen has enough on his plate and Hidoko needs to experience.
Callen joins Deeks in the taco truck. Channing is just hanging around the coffee shop, Deeks tells Callen as he patiently stares at him. Callen wants to know what's wrong. Knowing that Callen often confides in Sam, Deeks assures Callen that he's there for him. Callen obviously thinks Deeks is being weird. Deeks feels the same since Callen hasn't said a word about Anna shooting Sokolov. Callen said he's still trying to make sense of things. ATF has not questioned Callen – he thinks not a good sign. Cop!Deeks tells Callen not to worry about it, these things take time. Lawyer!Deeks tells Callen to come up with a story and stick to it. Friend!Deeks tells Callen to follow his heart because what he does will have a lasting impact on Anna. Deeks puts his hand on Callen's shoulder. Callen mentions that Sam never touches him. Deeks thought he was trying too hard – almost nailed it though.
In interrogation, Nell recites Mark Nichols's extensive criminal record. Kensi wants to know who hired him for the robbery. Nell, Kensi tells Nichols, is very smart and it won't take her long to figure out who hired him. Make things simple, give up your partner who left you to die. Nichols explains that the last guy crossed the man who hired him got a gallon of sulfuric acid forced down his throat. The boss filmed the entire event – watched the guy cook from the inside out. Nichols tells them the only thing he can do is convince the boss he kept quiet so he will be killed quickly.
Sam and Hidoko admire themselves in the wardrobe area mirror. Hidoko is wearing one of Hetty's favorite jackets according to Sam. Hidoko will take special care of it. Sam gives Hidoko an expensive watch, explaining that looking the part is all in the details. Sam talks about King. After she was shot, she suffered a stroke from blood loss. She was in a medically induced coma. She has had to relearn how to walk.
Sam admires post-arrest King. She testified against DA Gibson and laid out all of Stone's business affairs knowing that it could all end badly for her. She was given a lighter sentence and relocation. Sam needs to check with her to see if his Switch alias is still viable. Hidoko wants it to be – she loves what she's wearing.
Deeks just bought some Ethercoin, the next big thing. Callen isn't going to throw his hard-earned money on that. Sitting in a taco truck isn't something Deeks considers hard. Callen thinks casinos, racetracks, backyard dice games are all equally good investments as Ethercoin. Callen doesn't understand the value. Deeks sees value in its demand. Callen calls it the fear of missing out. Deeks sees his investment in Ethercoin increase so he buys more. Telling Deeks he can't stay at his house when Kensi throws him out for spending all their money, Callen has a good laugh when Ethercoin crashes. "Vanilla Ice, the pet rock and Ethercoin at $200 – what are three things people thought were here to stay." Sasha Channing leaves the café with Callen and Deeks following.
Sam and Hidoko pull up at a farm in the middle of nowhere in a fancy SUV that is a favorite of Hidoko's. Sam walks up to King, who is sitting on a chair on the porch (symbolism much?), reading a magazine. There is a cane nearby. King greets Sam and looks at Hidoko by the SUV – "new me?" she asks. King tells Sam she misses the city. It is too quiet where she's staying. The only things that were tolerable was when Sam visited.
King asks Sam why did he keep coming to visit after he had the info he needed. Sam tells King she knows why. She does. The two share genuine "I miss you"s as King struggles but is able to get out of her chair. She walks with a slight limp and a leg brace but moves well. Sam calls King by her given name – Dana – which she has hated for her entire life but it sounds better when Sam says it.
Sam and King arrive at a small outdoor loveseat. They snuggle. Sam asks if she told anyone about Switch. King is offended – after all they shared, Sam spoke about his wife's death – but Sam needs to know. She was not going to jeopardize her cushy deal. She didn't say a word – not that she could – but she wouldn't. Sam is all she has. Sam tells her Barris Stone is in the US but assures her she is safe. As Switch, Sam will find him first.
Sam asks if there is anything King can remember about Stone. She does – when something went wrong during a deal, everyone met by the old shipyard in the harbor. Sam asks for the address. He promises King he has her back.
Kensi and Nell return to Nichols. They asks to help Nichols with Stone. They can put him in witness protection or they can put him in prison where he can deal Stone's people. Nichols gives up Sasha Channing and Angus Reeves and eventually Barris Stone. He gives up his partner – the guy who left him for dead for free: Eddy Davis.
In their SUV in an indoor parking lot, Sam and Hidoko are trying to figure out how they are going to approach Stone and his people. They have to give them something. Hidoko notes that Sam seems close to King. It is complicated for Sam. He respects what she's gone through. Hidoko believes Sam has been through a lot too. Nobody would blame him, Hidoko starts but Sam cuts her short. Not everything is black and white, he tells her. Nobody is all good or all bad – everyone has virtues and flaws. It is all about the choices made.
With a bit of a crack in her voice, Hidoko tells Sam her husband use to say the same thing. When she was in Afghanistan, she was called in by her CO. She's put on a helicopter and taken to a combat support hospital in Kandahar. Her husband was badly wounded. She proposed on the spot – she was so afraid. A chaplain married them on the spot. He died in surgery. Sam tells Hidoko he didn't know. Not wanting to offend Sam, she tells him he performs like a superhero but he can't forget he is human. Sam chuckles.
Hidoko asks if Sam believes King. He does, he has to. Switch is their best chance of getting to Stone. A large man walks nearby – he is what Sam and Hidoko are waiting for. Leaving their vehicle, Sam as Switch holds up the jewelry store guard – Champ – from "Queen Pin". Champ thinks there are rules against stealing from a man twice. Sam and Hidoko wind up with a case full of fake necklaces and watches as well as Champ's weapon.
Switch wants the real deal from Champ. Hidoko uses a telescoping baton on Champ's leg to get his cooperation. Putting his hand in his shirt pocket, Champ pulls out a small baggie of diamonds. Champ warns there will be another time where he takes care of Switch. And that could be now as a couple of men in suits start shooting at Sam and Hidoko. Everyone exchanges gunfire with Sam and Hidoko getting away with both the diamonds and the knowledge that the Switch alias is viable.
Callen and Deeks make themselves comfortable at a country bar. They are waiting for Eddy Davis. Deeks likes the bar – makes him reconsider his career choices. He'd like to hang out all day "at a fine establishment" like the bar. Callen is less than enthused about the place. Deeks loves it – there are darts, pool, drinks and that sticky film on the fake wood floors. Deeks admits he's has his eye on a place on the east side of LA. Callen is surprised – to buy? Deeks tells him it has been abandoned for years. Callen thinks that's a sign. Deeks believes it is – it has been waiting for him. Callen asks how Kensi feels about being married to a bartender. "Mixologist" Deeks hasn't told Kensi. Callen is stunned and isn't sure Deeks is serious. Deeks is serious.
Deeks says that planning for the wedding has him thinking. How many more times can he and Kensi cheat death? Callen thinks it is Deeks's nerves speaking. Deeks disagrees – he's planning for their future. They've been lucky so far. He wants a family, kids. Callen tells him Sam made it work. Michelle proves Deeks's point. That isn't a conversation he ever wants to have with a little Deeks. Callen doesn't believed living their lives by playing things safe isn't living. Deeks agrees but thinks there is a lot of daylight between safe and what they do with terrorists trying to kill them. The bartender arrives with beers. Callen toasts "little Deeks and fewer terrorist." Callen and Deeks rarely have scenes together and when they do, they're pretty good. I understand the selling points are the bromance and the romance but this relationship could be more.
Kensi is in overwatch with her sniper rifle in a warehouse next to the old shipyard. Nell is in homeless gear looking for cans. Kensi tells Nell how proud Deeks would be. "Dumpster diving with Deeks, I'm into it," Nell shares. A nearby dumpster is about as close as Nell can get to the old shipyard. Kensi sees Angus Reeves and two guards but not Barris Stone.
Sam tells Hidoko to stay cool and follow his lead. Sam is stopped by a large British bodyguard. Sam makes a move to his pocket – getting the bodyguard to draw his weapon – before gently removing the diamonds from his pocket. The diamonds should buy a few minutes of Angus Reeves's time. The bodyguard suggests just taking the diamonds. Hidoko makes a joke and the tension drops. After they are search, Sam and Hidoko follow the bodyguard into the shipyard's building.
Mosley walks into Ops. Eric explains that Sam (GPS tracker #02, white), Kensi (#08, yellow), Nell (#13, teal-blue) and Hidoko (#09, green) are all around the shipyard while Callen (#11, Carolina blue) and Deeks (#07, orange) are at the bar. They can't find Eddy Davis. Mosley thinks Davis could be spooked. He killed two people.
Sam and Hidoko are brought to Angus Reeves. He doesn't know Switch or CJ (Hidoko). CJ tells Reeves if he did, they weren't doing their jobs. Switch tells them "the two idiots" Eddy Davis and Mark Nichols couldn't pull off a simple robbery. Switch tells Reeves that Nichols was planning to run with the keycodes and bring Switch with him, "but I don't roll like that." Switch offers the services of his organization. CJ explains that the diamonds represent the $500K they bring in every week. From San Diego to San Francisco, Switch has everything locked up. Reeves is impressed, "especially for a federal agent." Sam yells "no" as the British bodyguard shoots Hidoko and the second guard pistol whips Sam.
Nell goes running into the shipyard building firing her weapon. She takes out the door guard but his forced behind a forklift. Nell can see Sam being moved. There are more guards coming from the back. Kensi and Nell team up to take several of them down but Sam is dragged to a van. Kensi tries to shoot at the van but is afraid to hit Sam.
Nell enters the building and sees Hidoko on the ground. She calls to "Beale" that "Harley" has been hit, send an ambulance. Kensi runs in just in time to see Nell unzip Hetty's leather jacket – it is lined with kevlar. Nell is looking for Sam but Kensi tells her he's been taken. Hidoko gasps and comes to. She is hurting but she's worried – they knew Sam was a federal agent.
Eric is searching traffic cams for Sam with no luck. The news gets worse when he tells Mosley that the farm where King was staying was attacked. She's gone. "That bitch," according to Mosley, set him up. Eric is worried he won't be able to find Sam. Mosley gives him a really good pep talk about being the best at what he does. She believes in him.
Sam comes to – his hands are duct taped. In the van is "Dana" who Sam wants to talk out of what she's doing. What she has been doing – King tells Sam she sold out only a few of Barris Stone's very expendable people who were in that position as a fail-safe. If anyone was arrested – they were going to be named. Sam tells King he believed her. She says it is business, not personal.
Callen wants to come in but Mosley says he has to get the keycodes. Deeks notices Channing is moving. Callen wants this end of the deal shut down so he can find Sam.
Sam is brought into an empty apartment to meet Barris Stone. Stone paid off the guards protecting King and the ones who didn't want the money were blackmailed instead. Sam tells Stone that he'll never get away with killing a federal agent. Stone wants to send a message to the government – remind them they're dealing with him. Sam is brought into the bedroom. There is a chair and a camera set-up.
Eric calls Kensi who puts him on speaker for Nell and a just checked out by the EMTs Hidoko. Looking at the screen – Eric has five phones at the shipyard – Kensi's, Nell's, Hidoko's, Sam's which was left behind when they took him and one he can't identify. Kensi checks out the SUV, knowing Sam would have a fail-safe. He does. There is a burner in the console. Kensi sees something on the phone. She wants a helicopter. Eric sends one – Mosley is pleased.
Callen and Deeks watch Sasha Channing take the keycodes from Eddy Davis in an alley behind the bar. Channing pulls out a gun and tries to kill Davis but Callen yells "Federal Agents". Channing decides not to get shot but Davis runs. He's tackled by Deeks. Once they confirm they have the keycodes, Callen wants to rescue Sam. Deeks tells Eric to send in LAPD.
Stone paints the word "FED" on Sam's cheek. Saying that he's cutting edge for using social media, Stone wants to execute Sam online. King asks to shoot Sam instead and Stone agrees. Big mistake – she shoots Stone, Sam takes Stone's gun and shoot the Angus Reeves and the bodyguard. Sam is able to rip the duct tape off his hands. King has a cloth to clean Sam's face.
King wants to finish off Stone – it is the only way she can be free. And the only way she can be with Sam. Sam stops her. King argues they belong together and Sam agrees. But he can't run away from who he is. The police and NCIS arrive. Sam confesses that when they were cuddling, he put a tracker in her leg brace. When King asks how Sam was sure she wouldn't kill him, he admits he wasn't. He trusted her.
The front door is kicked in. King does not want to go back. She puts the gun down and kisses Sam. She kisses him before pushing him away. She grabs the gun and makes a move toward the team. Sam talks her out of using the gun. He holds her as Deeks cuffs her.
Kensi catches Sam up as Sam plays with the pricey watch he gave Hidoko. Stone survived surgery, Callen and Deeks are processing Sasha Channing and Eddy Davis. Hidoko arrives. She has bruised ribs that she thinks will leave her sore for a week. "Try three," Kensi advises. Hidoko wants to thank Hetty for the jacket. Sam tells Hidoko to rest – she earned it.
Sam is alone with Mosley, taking Switch's earrings out. Mosley chides Sam when they're alone for putting Hidoko's life in danger. Sam says he did what he had to do. King was the only one who could get them close to Stone. Sam said he used his instincts. Mosley thinks he used his heart. Mosley understood he played outside the lines but he did good work. Mosley promises to help King as best she can but Sam needs to figure out what she means to him.
What head canon can be formed from here: Sam and King. Hidoko's history. Kensi, Deeks and the little Deeks.
Episode number: 19 – start of the final third of season nine. 211 overall.

Complete Genre: Fanfiction, Mystery, Drama, Humour, General, Action Warnings: N/A
Tony couldn't keep the yawn from stretching his mouth open.
He heard Ziva chuckle before he even saw her. "Late night, Tony?"
Tony swatted some police tape out his way. "Good morning, Miss David. And yes, I was busy going through some more episodes of my show."
"What do you call it in English? Binging?"
"Binge-watching. And no, if I were to binge-watch it, I would be done with the entire show by now." Tony looked around the building where they were all called in. Ugh. "I'm so done with this place," Tony complained. "What I'd do to be watching Monica strip down to those cute, pink bikini bottoms."
"Monica?" Ziva laughed.
"Yeah, she's a tiger," Tony explained. "Just had a fight with Kiara last episode. Punched her lights out."
"How wonderful," Ziva mused.
"Hot," Tony agreed. "Hey, where is everybody?"
"Gibbs and Abby are in Tarsibo's office, and McGee is coming in right now."
Tony turned to see McGee shuffling through the doors.
"McGee!" Tony greeted. "Look at you! Last one to arrive."
McGee gave him a cheeky grin. "Unlike you, I've never been here. Didn't exactly know my way."
Tony glared at him. Way to rub it in.
"I thought with your degree in technology," Tony said, "You would have been able to use a GPS just fine."
"I don't know," McGee said, "I kind of liked my drive."
"I rolled down my windows," Ziva shared, "The breeze felt quite nice."
Tony gave her a look that he hoped conveyed his disapproval. What a liar.
"And it appears that we are all here," Ziva said.
"This looks familiar," McGee commented.
Tony turned once more to the entrance.
"NCIS," said a blonde girl, showing her badge and I.D. to a cop.
"NCIS, huh?" Tony said, looking over the group of four.
"Looks like they had a rough night," Ziva murmured.
"Grover looks pretty down…" McGee frowned.
Tony couldn't help but agree. The nervous, nerdy, usually chatty agent seemed very despondent. A contrast to Agent La Rue, who was in a different, perhaps worse, state and spirit.
"Hey, La Rue," Tony said, "Don't go contaminating the crime scene! What did you sleep in, a sandbox?"
"Listen, punk," La Rue growled, shaking some more sand off her, "The crime scene is the office. Besides, why don't you clean yourself up? Jeez, look at you. Eye boogers and, gross, a drool line."
What?! Ziva and McGee snickered as he quickly checked his reflection. Holy-!
"Drooling in your sleep is a very natural and, in fact, a healthy occurrence," Tony defended while scrubbing at his face.
Percy enthusiastically agreed. Tony didn't know how to feel about that.
Lima gave a sigh. "It's really not. Where's Gibbs?"
Ziva answered her before Tony could argue her first statement.
"This way."
Ziva opened the door of the office to reveal… a mess. "Woah," Tony breathed.
"Good morning, everyone!" Abby greeted from her place connecting extension cords.
"Abby, I think you got a little carried away," Tony said.
"Not at all, Tony," Abby said, "I wanted to test all my new blacklights, and this is a perfect time as I can just test this whole office in one go."
"Your blacklights?" Tony asked. He spotted Gibbs standing a little ways off, watching Abby work. "Morning, Boss," Tony said.
Gibbs gave a noncommittal grunt and sipped at his steaming cup of coffee. Coffee… Not for the first time, Tony played with the idea of asking his boss to share his drink.
"Hey," McGee said, nudging one of the lights, "I recognize this one. You got it a couple years ago."
"How can you tell?" Tony asked him.
"The sharpie skulls," McGee answered.
"Are all of these blacklights yours, Abby?" Ziva asked.
"No," Abby said a bit more defensive than normal, "Three are from the lab."
"I count eleven," Lima said.
"What do you need with nine blacklights?" Tony asked.
"That would be eight, Tony," McGee corrected.
Ugh, it was too early to be doing math.
"I think the collection is wonderful, Abby," Ziva said.
"Thanks. Good thing there aren't any windows; makes the job easier. Lights!" Abby called, dramatically.
McGee shut the lights off.
And there wasn't much to look at. Almost every inch of the room, the walls, floors, and ceiling were dark. It wouldn't have made Tony nervous if it wasn't for the few patches of the wall that did glimmer.
"I'm not seeing much glow around the place," Underwood said.
"Maybe he cleaned with some bleach," Abby suggested, shaking a bottle. She went up to the walls and started to mass spray. The walls sparked very briefly with each spray. Tony didn't know what that meant, but he certainly didn't like the way Abby started to spray more frantically, running to different areas in an obvious attempt to get different results.
"Abby?" Tony asked softly. "What is it?"
Tony didn't like the way she looked at him. Now, he really wanted to sucker punch Tarsibo.
"It's…" Abby said, hollowly. "It's all blood."
There was a moment of silence as everyone in the room digested the words the scientist said.
"That's a lot of blood," La Rue commented. Tony wanted to snap at her lack of tact.
"Abby," Gibbs called.
"I'm fine, Gibbs," Abby said, answering his unspoken question, "Just surprised and…" Abby heaved a sigh, "I'm going to have a lot of work going through all of this."
"I'll call in, Ducky," Gibbs told her, "See if he can help you."
"Thanks."
Tony turned the light back on and started to look around the office.
"Did you find anything, Boss?" Tony asked, opening some empty drawers.
"Nope," Gibbs said.
Tch, which meant that everything they had was already back at the garage. There was no trace of the swords or shiny coins. Marko probably took them all with him.
"How about the dumpster?" Tony felt a bit lightheaded at how innocently Lima suggested that. "There might be some evidence that Tarsibo wanted to discard and hoped that the garbage would haul it away."
"Hm," Gibbs hummed, his lips already curled in a devious smirk, "That is true." He rapped on a door next to him that Tony had barely noticed. "I think this would lead us outside," Gibbs said, "But it's locked."
Lima frowned. "Locked from the outside?"
"That's strange," McGee said, "Maybe he just didn't use it much."
"Seeing as the video in the main entrance didn't see him leave," Ziva disputed, "this has to be the one he used."
"Alright," McGee said, fiddling with some tools, "Let me just pick the lock."
"Or we could just break it down," La Rue suggested as she marched towards the door. Gibbs moved aside as the girl kicked the door down. Literally.
Tony hoped Abby wouldn't mind the large boot print she now had to deal with.
McGee gave Agent La Rue a deadpan look. "How efficient."
"You bet on it."
Ziva took a step outside and blinked in surprise. "Not what I was expecting."
"Check. It. Out." Tony gazed at the lines of cars hidden in this back area. "Look at this. Now, this is a collection. Man! Nice Chevrolet- must be from the 60s!"
Underwood let out a huff. “They’re just a bunch of gas guzzlers.”
Ziva let out a grunt as Tony pushed her from his path. "Oh! Sweet!" He pumped. Tony slid his hand across a retro, red Plymouth. "Oh," he breathed, "What a righteous Fury. A pure classic."
"Should we leave you two alone?" Ziva teased.
"Let's not," La Rue huffed, "Don't want to scar Abby when she brings her blacklights out here. Place would light up light a Christmas tree."
Tony ignored her. Although, he sent a worried glance when Underwood choked on thin air.
"We're going to have to run plates," McGee sighed.
"It can't be that bad," Percy said as he eyed at the parked beauties with appreciative eyes. Tony knew he had promise.
"That will be something for when we get back to base," Lima said, moving them on till they got to the dumpsters.
And for a bit, they all just stopped and considered the hulking metal bin.
"So," Lima said first, looking at her team, "Any volunteers?"
La Rue crossed her arms and looked dead on at her boss in defiance. Underwood was practically begging, saying something about his nose being too sensitive. And Percy was trying to scoot his way out of Lima's eyesight.
Tony's eyes latched on the green-eyed agent. "I think this would be a great learning experience for the probie."
Tony felt a spark of accomplishment ignite in his heart as both McGee and Ziva looked up. But they were not his focus…this time. Now, he had a new friend that he made over the last day, and Tony just had to involve him in the DiNozzo welcome.
"Jackson," Tony clarified, "Come on, probie."
Percy's eyes widened as everyone turned their attention to him. "Me? Probie?" He looked at Lima in distress but slumped in obvious dismay at her lack of defense.
Tony mentally cheered as Percy clambered up and into the huge can. That is until Lima showed her true ability. Not in defense but in retribution.
"Percy may need some help," Lima said, "Why don't you join him, Agent DiNozzo? You are his senior."
"S-sure, but-"
"You've done this plenty of times, Tony," Ziva said, which McGee rapturedly agreed to.
"What was it you said?" McGee said. "You would never use your 'superiority' for personal gain?"
The snarky nerd even used his fingers to air quote. Tony mimicked him, making sure to nail his derpy face.
"Yeah," Percy said lowly, "I'm sure you've been in the garbage plenty of times."
'Excuse you?'
"Get in there, DiNozzo," said Gibbs.
Tony sighed in defeat. There was no going against the Boss. He had been sent on his fair share of dumpster diving missions, but even though he was a senior agent, Gibbs kept on pushing him back in.
"Alright," Tony grimaced, trying not to breathe too deeply. "Let's see what we have here." He ripped open a garbage bag and casually dumped its contents. Percy yelped when most of the trash landed on him. How was Tony supposed to that the wind would pick up at just that moment?
"I got a ton of shredded documents," Tony noted, picking up the slim cuts of paper, "but they just look like vehicle and business stuff. Got some water bottles. And check this out," Tony lifted a couple of bags and napkins. "Looks like a logo I recognize."
"The Drowsy Owl," Ziva read.
"There is a whole bunch of stuff from that place in here," Percy said, digging a little deeper. "Guess he really liked the place."
"Bag it," Gibbs ordered.
"Uh, which ones?" Jackson asked.
"Everything," Gibbs and Lima said in time.
Tony grimaced. Oh no, they have started to become one!
"Looks like Ducky is here, Boss," McGee said.
Gibbs nodded, "Keep going through the place."
"Keep up the good work, boys," Lima threw behind her shoulder as she left with Gibbs.
"I should grab some popcorn," La Rue considered once the two squad leaders were out of hearing distance.
"When I was younger, one of my favorite snacks was Klik," Ziva shared, "Especially the chocolate-covered pretzel ones."
"Hm," Clarisse hummed in contemplation, "those sound pretty good right about now, too."
"How about you try helping?" Percy asked sardonically.
"Nah, I'm good right here in the audience," Clarisse jeered, "And don't forget to stuff yourself in one of those trash bags once you're done."
Tony winced at how casually cruel she was to her coworker. There was no doubt going to be another argument between the two, as he saw Percy tense. Tony sighed internally. This was not going to be pretty.
Underwood seemed to be thinking along the same lines, nervously saying, "I'll go jot down those plate numbers."
Tony watched enviously as the agent practically ran away, wishing he could as well when the arguing finally started. Ziva was downright egging them on. Hopefully, he could get out of this dump.
-Ανναβετη-
'Sorry, Percy,' Annabeth thought, not sparing a glance even as the sounds of an argument brewed over. She had to get someone who could spot pieces of evidence, not that she doubted Percy's ability, but he wouldn't have even thought about the implications of shredded paper or the products from The Drowsy owl. Agent David had a sharp eye and mind, and Agent McGee would diligently stay and do whatever his boss told him to do to the best of his ability, no matter how enthusiastic he was not. DiNozzo would find what he needed to, then pull rank when Gibbs had left. Clarisse would ensure that by just being herself.
She trusted Percy to find what she had really put him there to search for.
"I'm going to speak to Kahale's C.O." Gibbs told her, "He'll be able to give us more insight on Kahale's apparent assignment, or at least have an idea on who might have sent him."
Annabeth frowned at Gibbs's obvious assumption. "What if this wasn't a mission he received?"
Gibbs gave her a look. "A mechanic would be uncovering this mess by himself in just a few days of being home?"
Annabeth sighed. Welcome to the life of a demigod. But she couldn't just tell him that. "We shouldn't cross it off," she said simply.
He scrutinized her for a moment, before nodding. "I want to speak with the owner of the bar, too," Gibbs continued. "Repeated connections to the bar aren't looking good for him."
"You think the owner is involved?" Annabeth asked. Clarisse had told her that the bartender didn't seem like the type. Maybe he had tricked her.
"We shouldn't cross it off," Gibbs repeated.
Annabeth considered her own words that he threw at her. It was a solid way of thinking, for sure. "Well, you are going to have to hold out on hitting the bar," She told him, "It has not opened yet. Might as well talk to Michael's Commanding Officer first."
She watched as the older investigator shrugged in response, then pull off the lid of his large coffee cup to frown at its contents, or more likely its lack of. Already grumpier than before, Gibbs said, "Let's see what Ducky's got."
"Good morning, Jethro, Agent Lima," Ducky greeted, clambering out of the van.
"You got here pretty quickly," Gibbs said.
"Yes, I was already on the way, having wanted to be at the site of these gruesome murders," Ducky explained
"You went through the tapes, Duck?" Gibbs asked.
"Well, not all of it, I'm afraid. Underwood has given me quite the number of video clips, I haven't had time to go through all of them."
Annabeth made sure not to show anything other than sympathy on her face. "Sorry, Ducky, there were a few years on that tape."
"Yes, full of the man's vile actions."
And that was with all the editing Grover, and she did. There were several clips that Ducky did not receive. Although giving Ducky video that showcased usage of divine weapons wasn't a problem, any obvious displays of powers or mythical creatures had been easily cut out and replaced, thanks to Daedalus' laptop. Grover had taken it pretty hard, though. There were some satyrs, nymphs, and a demigod or two that Grover recognized.
"What did you get from them?" Gibbs asked.
"There is no particular type of person that he targets. They may be young or old, a woman or a man, they could be armed or defenseless. Some he lets live, while others not. He can be rightly called a psychopath, a very murderous one. His killings are random," Ducky said.
'Not random,' Annabeth thought, 'Only when he's hungry.'
"Great," Gibbs sighed, "Did you get anything from the kids' profiles?
"Hm, they are very interesting. I wonder what deeper connection they share with our Staff Sergeant."
"You don't think they are just normal kids?"
"Honestly, Jethro! They were wielding weapons!"
"Not what I meant," Gibbs said, "Are you telling me they may be in on this whole thing?"
"Take a closer look at this image here," Ducky told him, "There is a marking on their forearm. The image is unclear, but it is obviously not a natural mark that they both just happen to share."
"Gang activity?"
"Or…"
"'Or,' Duck?"
"Or they might be part of these Mexican Cartels."
His postulation threw Annabeth off for a second. She could kind of guess how he could come to such an idea, but she really couldn't see two teenagers, far from the border and with no links to a Mexican background, would all of a sudden be part of these cartels. Even if they weren't demigods.
Gibbs also seemed to dismiss the idea. He said, "Cartels don't send kids to do business."
"No," Ducky agreed, "but they do send them to kill."
Gibbs shook his head. It seemed he had reached the same conclusion as Annabeth had.
"There is a possibility," Ducky continued. "I've been over both of their records. ADHD, Dyslexia, hardship in academic and social life, reports of violence, one or both parents dead or missing."
Typical demigods then.
"Not in Wisconsin, Ducky."
Annabeth felt a bit disappointed if that was how Gibbs was derailing this idea.
"Sergeant Kahale was from Maryland," Ducky retorted, "And he displayed all of the mentioned traits. If not hitmen, then perhaps coyotitos or reclutadores. But this man could have easily accumulated a reputation."
The doctor turned his gaze on Annabeth, who had to shake her head, admitting, "Sorry. I don't know much on Mexican Cartels. But I have to agree with Agent Gibbs, it doesn't seem likely."
"Hm, very well. It is not my job to solve the crime," Ducky sighed, before continuing with his reports. "There were a few instances of victims who shared the same circumstances of owning those unique blades that the Staff Sergeant and the children, Mr. Swaller and Miss Hibashira, possessed. What's interesting is that all, except for Sergeant Kahale, and that exception can be argued, all the victims were children."
Annabeth tried to guess what was going through Gibbs's head. After all the evidence that had been revealed to the mortal investigators, victims using celestial blades was expected.
"I fear Abigail is going to be very busy, with the added work of identifying the victims. The families will have to be notified." Ducky lifted an eyebrow at Gibbs, "Have the guardians of those children been told?"
"Not yet," Gibbs.
"Well, it'd be best to do so quickly. Don't go questioning them too hard," Ducky said, fixing Gibbs with a peculiar glare, "They have just lost their children and will all be strongly affected."
"I know, Duck."
Annabeth pondered at the shift in tone of the conversation. And she came to the realization that she really didn't know who the mortal investigators really were. She remembered last night. An empty house with hidden rooms and an obviously unused upper floor. What had Agent Gibbs gone through in his mortal life, outside of solving Navy crimes?
Maybe letting Gibbs call up the victims' families, several of which may be in the know of the divine world, was not the best idea. But if she could do it… and if she could hook up her laptop with whatever program these feds had…
"I can work with the families," She suggested, coming up with an idea. "I'll just need access to facial recognition and the database."
"I'll still have to speak with them," Gibbs said.
"Fine," Annabeth said, already anticipating that, "But this way, they could have time to process the news before you start on them."
Gibbs thought a bit before disappointing her, "I'll need you on this one, if you can get more hints at Greek cult stuff, we could maybe start putting some connecting lines. Get Underwood on it."
Annabeth held tongue before she ranted at him for calling her life a cult. She simply nodded. She could work with that; she'll show Grover how to connect with the federal programs.
"We'll leave you and Abby to take all the samples you need, Duck," Gibbs said, leading Annabeth away.
"Joy," she heard the Medical Examiner grumble.
"Head back to HQ," Gibbs told her, "We'll talk to the C.O, directly. See what he's like."
'See'? Annabeth wondered how they would do that, she doubted Gibbs or his block of a computer could handle a face-time conversation.
But before she could ask, he had moved away and was gathering up his team. She smirked as she saw DiNozzo had already left Percy alone in the dumpster can. There were showers back at NCIS, or so she heard.
She hurried to collect her own company.
"Did you find anything in there?" She asked Percy.
He glared back at her. "No. And thanks a lot, by the way."
"Hey, barnacle boy," Clarisse growled, "We couldn't just let the mortals find drachmae, and they already have a celestial bronze dagger. Let's not give them another."
"Oh. Sorry."
Annabeth sighed. Clarisse had always been quick to realize Annabeth's strategies when they worked together. Percy just relied on his instincts and improvisational skills. It's something that Annabeth had grown to admire and work into her plan making.
"What did you find, Grover?" She asked her satyr friend.
"Um, the cars don't have a smell of monster in them. But they are really old. I think they belonged to Tarsibo's past victims. He must have been here for a really long time."
"Hm, and we just drove him out of his home," Annabeth thought aloud.
"If this general was a Son of Ares like you said, then he is either cowardly or drawing up the power to beat us right back," Clarisse said.
"I said he might be a son of Ares," Annabeth corrected, "But I agree, just letting us kick him out is not something Ares would approve us. But cutting losses and waiting to bring down the hammer is."
"You think he is going to bring the Mexican Cartels into this?" Grover asked.
Annabeth thought back to Michael's notes Abby had sent her. "He confirmed that the Reynosa cartel is involved in the shipment of weapons and suspects Sinaloa's involvement. I didn't find much on them, but I really doubt Tarsibo is going to ask for Cartel help on this. However, the weapons dealing Monster Donuts chain is somewhere he might go to. We really need to find it."
"Yeah," Clarisse agreed, cracking her knuckles, this morning's pounding doesn't cover DiNozzo's insistent jabbering. Not to mention, Ziva is good and is a good match with DiNozzo."
Annabeth nodded at the information that Clarisse implied. "But they are buying our cover stories?"
"Yeah, good thing you fleshed it out, they have gone deep into it and are still searching for more."
"I can't believe they haven't found me all over the internet yet," Percy said.
Annabeth smiled, "They don't have to go onto the internet if their database has all that they need."
"When we head back, Gibbs wants to call up the C.O. with me and have a chat with him. Clarisse, I want you to listen along." It would be good to have another demigod's opinion on the Commanding Officer.
"What did Dr. Mallard have to say?" Grover inquired.
"That we did good last night," Annabeth said, "And I'm going to need your help so we can communicate to all of the victim's families. You are going to have to convince either Agent McGee or Abby, the forensic scientist, to hook up Daedalus's laptop so it can access all the programs and databases they use for facial identification."
"So, how am I going to do this?"
"I'll show you on the way there. Let's go."

Hawaii Five-0 Boss Previews Season 8 Shake-Up, How Team Is Dealing With Losses: 'The Dynamic Has Changed'
By Matt Webb Mitovich / September 26 2017, 2:58 PM PDT
Traditionally, it’s CBS’ NCIS and Criminal Minds that sustain the shocking cast shake-ups. This fall, though, it’s Hawaii Five-0 that will look most different to longtime viewers, bidding adieu as it has to original cast members Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, while adding three new series regulars in Being Human‘s Meaghan Rath, Salvation‘s Ian Anthony Dale (returning as Kono’s husband Adam) and newcomer Beulah Koale.
With Season 8 arriving this Friday at 9/8c, TVLine presents veritably all of our Fall Preview Q&A with showrunner Peter M. Lenkov, who surveys Five-0’s processing of this double departure, sets up the new hires, teases a “very emotional” backstory for a veteran team member and more.
TVLINE | When the season opens up, how fresh will Chin Ho and Kono’s respective exits have been? Has time passed? Is the team at the acceptance stage? I don’t think anybody has accepted it; I think they’re still sort of in that period of trying to accept the fact that the team has changed. The dynamic has changed. There are a couple scenes where they do reference them and how much they’re missed, but they are happy for where they are in their lives and stuff.
TVLINE | Will it have turned out that Chin Ho and Kono happened to leave at the same time? Or after Kono left to chase the sex traffickers, did Chin take the San Francisco task force job weeks later? Chin accepted the job off screen, and Kono was already gone by then. I would imagine that in our world [the cousins] probably had many conversations about it while she was on the mainland and he was in Hawaii.
TVLINE | How would you differentiate the way we meet Tani (played by Meaghan Rath), a hotel lifeguard, from how we first met Kono back in the day? On paper, the scenarios seem similar-ish…. The difference is that Kono was in the police academy on the verge of graduation, and Tani was kicked out of the police academy. Where Kono was more of a by-the-rules kind of cadet, this woman is not that by any means. She’s more the McGarrett, the female McGarrett.
TVLINE | And under what circumstances do we first meet Junior (Beulah Koale)? Junior literally is two hours fresh of leaving the military when he shows up at McGarrett’s doorstep looking for a job. He had heard about McGarrett through Navy SEAL friends and had heard about the task force and is looking for a purpose. And that starts this relationship. It’s not like Five-0 is looking for people. He has to sort of earn…
TVLINE | Steve doesn’t immediately say, “Sure, come on board.” No, he sends him to the police academy to go through training. He says, “If you graduate, I’ll find a spot for you.” But it’s not that easy because Junior has brought back some stuff from serving that doesn’t make it an easy transition.
TVLINE | What is the Case of the Week for the premiere? We burn down the island! We set fire to the island. I mean, we’ve done everything else! The idea is that Duclair (returning guest star Randy Couture), this pyro that we’ve had in a bunch of episodes, ends up getting out of prison — and it’s an interesting story how he gets out of prison. We’re pursuing him when he ends up going inland and starting a fire to get away from us, and it gets out of control and becomes this massive wildfire. It’s moving from the central part of the island to the outside, so if you’re looking from the water you’re just seeing this big trail of smoke coming out, like the whole island is going to be on fire.
TVLINE | Adam being a part of team, as has been reported, is somewhat logical — he’s got the skills, he knows everyone, he’s a good person…. But there is the sticky wicket of how someone with his checkered past can be an official part of Five-0. Is that addressed? Here’s the thing: When he first comes back to the show, he’s not involved in any case work. But ultimately there’s this big storyline involving organized crime and that’s when he comes in, because that is a world his father was in, and he knows a bit about. So he sort of becomes the head of this task force within the task force, looking into organized crime to identify the new players. We’re utilizing his expertise and his knowledge of that world.
TVLINE | As importantly, what’s his point of view on Kono’s absence? Is he angry…? Yeah, he’s angry, he’s bummed, he’s disappointed….
TVLINE | How does he rationalize it? That this is her legacy, what she’s doing. That what she’s doing is the right thing for her to do, and when she’s done with it she’ll be back and they’ll be able to put all this bad stuff behind them and start a family.
TVLINE | What fun or interesting dynamics are you seeing in dailies so far? The thing that’s really fun is Danny and McGarrett, who have talked about opening a restaurant. A big part of last year and this year is talking about people’s legacies and what they leave behind, and they have talked about going into business together. So they start this side project that is a lot of fun for them to be doing. It’s a long-term thing — and who knows, the way they’re sort of going at each other and given their different points of view with regard to building this business as something to retire into, it may never even happen. Because it’s just one hurdle after another.
TVLINE | Or… to save Alex O’Loughlin’s weary knees, the show transitions into a multi-camera workplace sitcom about them running a restaurant. [Laughs] Yes, down the road. Yes. Many years. Season 15!
TVLINE | Any personal runners for any of the other characters? There’s a fun sort of Christmas episode that Danny and Charlie are front and center on…. Grace is still dating Will, Grover’s son…. And we have a really great, very emotional story for Grover this year, where we’re going to see what really got him to move to Hawaii. We sort of hinted at it a couple of years ago, but we’re going to see that story unfold.

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme originally from Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things I have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on my blog.
Hey you all, I’m so sorry for being absent these past few weeks. I haven’t been in my writing mood for a couple of months, but I been completely absent the past few weeks… So I’m gonna give you a recap of how these past 3 weeks have been for me…
So I started the week, 3 weeks ago, with going back to my speech therapist again. Yes, I stutter and yes, it will never go away completely… No big deal for me, but the techniques I learn there, help me in my daily life. I also went to the doctor’s for the pain in my right calf muscle.. He didn’t see anything, gave me painkillers and said it would go away… I got a bit irritated again, because it was blue, swollen and that’s the answer I almost always get.
School that week wasn’t very excited, I didn’t have a model so I had to train on my exercise head again. Did break my own record in doing a perm. We have to roll a complete perm in an hour max, and I did it in 50 minutes, my record was 52 =]
Thursday I had my last Taekwondo training before my exam on Friday. It was good to go over everything I had to do like kicks, techniques and walking my daeguk. Afterwards we went for a drink in town. It was really fun to socialize with the group and build my friendship with them. They told me the sweetest thing!! They said I was a really good and fun addition for the team =] To hear that makes me feel really good. I’ve lived in this area for three years now and still haven’t got any friends. So it really did do me good =] I’m happy to have found that group of people and really like them =]
So Friday was the big day for me. My first Taekwondo exam. It was really tough on my stamina hahahahah… I did make a few dumb mistakes. Like with the sparring part, I don’t have any protection yet, so I kicked against an elbow, it hurts like shit, and guess what… a minute later I kicked with my other foot against the other elbow.. So it gave me two very blue feet, a few bruises on my arms and shins and the worst part to tell you guys… Before sparring I had to show kicking techniques on pillows my friend [she’s a black belt] held up. But she held up two for a jumping kick and because of my calf muscle I calculated my jumped kick to land on my left leg. But in the heat of the battle I had to do a double jumped kick aaaaaannddd landed on my right leg… So I have a tear in my MCL- or more commonly known as my inner knee ligament [just found that out last Tuesday by the way] – I felt it snap and had to spar after that… whoops… But all in all it was worth it and I passed!! Check out the picture above!!
That weekend we visited mu aunt and her wife. I was sore, bruised and tired, but most of all sad… It was the first time being there and Simba not greeting us… She was their dog and child.. She was 14, but 4 in spirit… I got the news while doing groceries the weekend before. It broke me, I grew up with Simba. Think about it she was 14, I’m 24 years… So that was a weird and emotional weekend….
After this busy week it got boring and painful… I couldn’t go to Taekwondo for a while [that while ain’t over yet, sadly] and that made me miss my friends and my two occasions of getting out of the house in the week… It also screwed my schedule.. I just got used to working out twice a week, and that made me feel good.. Now that’s gone for a while and that makes me sad and restless.. I feel stuck in my house, especially with my knee… So no Taekwondo, a lot of job hunting and school this week was with my exercise head again. This wasn’t for the fact I couldn’t find a model, but because we got a colouring demo and a test run with water mixed with a hair mask on our exercise heads…. It was a lot of information, but exciting to start colouring other’s hair =]…
Then the real fun began.. Hello to having a fucking fever for four days =/ it was good for my bingewatching as you can see from Thursday through Sunday hahahahaaa… So that wraps up the first two weeks…
So last week was kind of exciting for the family. On Monday my father-in-law got a new pacemaker. That’s always a tricky thing in my opinion… But it went very well and he’s doing better after having the surgery.. So the rest of the week was me limping, me job hunting, me doing a mini makeover with a haircut on my model [and she’s going for another haircut and a perm in april woohoo], me giving my father-in-law a haircut after the hairdresser didn’t do a great job and asked me to do it. He was happy with it and so was I. I haven’t had training in cutting a man’s hair [will cover it in the second year] and he was my first male haircut =] I’m glad I can learn from the saying ‘Monkey see, monkey do’ hahahaha..
Today was a slow day. Had a tough night sleeping.. Because of the stinging pain in my leg and my bf woke me up twice. He couldn’t sleep so the first was because of the light of the TV [my mask had slipped from my eyes] and the second time because he felt like eating Oreo’s and ripping the package. And I can guarantee you, plastic ain’t silent xD So I had a tough time falling asleep again after the Oreo incident and that kept me up for 45 minutes again… Finally fell asleep and got some more hours luckily.. But I’m still tired as shit and so today wasn’t a very quick day… Watched some Grimm episodes, prepped some review posts to finish them – hopefully tomorrow – and made fresh tomato soup… Guess what.. I forgot my soup veggies =/ the most essential ingredient… So I had soup with meat and pasta today and will buy the veggies and add them tomorrow hahahaha… I am glad I finally caught up with my blog again and have the motivation to write my reviews again… Not in the same speed as before, but I’m getting there..
So I hope you have had a great time and will have in the coming week =]
XoXo Felicia
So because of all of the above, no posts since my last Sunday Post =[ But I’m trying very hard to do some posts next week and catch up with my Top Ten Tuesdays. I hope I can do them all, but I’m not going to promise anything. My game hasn’t been good the last few months and it’s taking me a while to get it back. I hope you will forgive me for posting so little, but as I’ve explained in the Life section of this post, life ain’t easy these days…

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 11 Review: Joyride
Alas, still no Hetty.
But the usual elements of an OSP holiday episode were present on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 11.
There was a fairly easily solved case of the week, leaving time for the personal interactions that make this series so much fun.
This year's festivities got moved offsite because Special Prosecutor Rogers was being a stick in the mud about people drinking around firearms.
Since the episode started with a Marine reservist shooting up a Christmas-tree lot, maybe, just maybe, he had a point.
Let's talk about Rogers. He's not adding much to the dynamic, other than making Eric even more tightly wound than usual.
Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 10 Review: Heist
Yes, he's less annoying than he was when first introduced on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4. But just marginally so.
Still, this revolving adult supervision (it can't be called leadership) among Kilbride, Ochoa, and Rogers gives me hope that Linda Hunt will soon be able to come back as Hetty, maybe as soon as after the holiday hiatus.
If that wasn't the case, wouldn't the powers that be have settled on a new unit chief by now, halfway through the season?
At least the substitutes haven't been outright obstacles for the team, unlike, say, Mosley. So that's a plus.
They also haven't interfered with the pairings upon which the series was built: the bromance between Sam and Callen, the cutesy couple Deeks and Kensi and the brainy couple Eric and Nell.
Mosley broke up these couplings far too often, implementing change for change sake. But that doesn't mean that shaking up things occasionally is a horrible idea.
One example would DeChamps filling in again for Callen, just like she did on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2.

I once thought that she might be Sam's next great romance. I've since decided that Sam is one of those widowers who doesn't look to date again after the great love of their lives dies.
Sam and DeChamp have decent chemistry. They shot the breeze about their holiday plans and seemed genuinely interested in each other's lives.
Sam welcomes her like the cousin from out of town with whom he enjoys spending time. Only instead of drinking beers at a barbecue, they're tracking down criminals.
Or, in this case, hunting down the victim of criminals. Bad enough that Garza was already dealing with PTSD. Now he got drugged for his knowledge of waste-management procedures as well? Talk about adding insult to injury.
The whole scheme seemed pretty convoluted: Stalk an employee to find out when expired drugs were to be destroyed then steal the truckload of drugs especially for the geniuses who parked the loot right near the drug dealer's home, while he's having a party.
Little wonder the whole takedown took about five minutes, including the time for punchlines.
But hey, this was yet another occasion where the case was incidental. The two Marines fixed the damage they caused while drugged, no harm no foul as far as their military careers, and Garza's girlfriend was there to support him. Peace on Earth, goodwill to men, etc., etc.

Eric and Nell did what they've been doing most of this season, working around restrictions imposed by the chief pro tem while helping out the teams in the field. It seemed odd that they weren't making their usual elaborate holiday plans until Eric sprung that complete Old English dinner at Yosemite on Nell. That felt right.
The running joke was Deeks poaching food for the OSP holiday party at his bar. I don't know why he was so freaked out. As long as the booze was flowing, any decorating or culinary deficits would be overlooked.
Deeks' impromptu toast to those who couldn't be there was touching. It was especially telling that Mosley wasn't on his list.
One who wasn't there was Callen, sitting watch at Anna's bedside.
I'd always wondered how Callen and Anna had seemed to unravel. Granted, relationships aren't his strong suit, but their drifting apart just didn't seem organic.
Also, like Arkady, I didn't understand why he didn't cover for her in her shooting of Sokolov. If he had backed her up, that ATF investigation would have gone nowhere.

Is there some professional reason she wants to be in prison? There must be. Otherwise, why subject herself to the abuse that she will continue to receive as a former member of law enforcement and Arkady's daughter?
At least Arkady seemed to have come around on how Callen feels about his daughter so that he and his tovarish are on good terms again.
Now, after the hiatus, let's hope that Hetty comes back and the series gets out of the holding pattern in which it seems to be.
To catch up during the hiatus, watch NCIS: Los Angeles online.
What's Anna up to? Do you want to see more of DeChamp? Did this episode have enough holiday for you?

You must be excited to find out Santa Baby was going to be used in the holiday episode this week on NCIS Los Angeles?
-So excited!
How did you find out the show was using the song and have you had any of your other songs used on TV or film before? -Well, I ‘m here in NYC and was in this wonderful new chicken and waffles candy store, aptly named Sugar and Plumm, having a great hot chocolate waiting to see the tree lighting at Lincoln Center. It was such a beautiful night and contemplating how good things are… And voila, there’s an email forwarded from my label, sent by Mark Wike (Music Supervisor for NCIS LA).
My father, who passed away earlier this year loved CBS. And I recorded Santa Baby when I lived across the street of CBS. It was CBS residuals that financed the song, as Santa Baby’s original intent was as a personal Christmas gift. That was 15 years ago to the day. Finally, to have the song, that’s been so revered by fans worldwide since 2000, come back and be the backdrop to Holiday romance on CBS’s NCIS LA… Cool, right? And yes, thanks for askin’, I do have other song placements.
This song has been covered by some iconic singers like Eartha Kitt and Madonna. How did you decided to interpret the song and put your own spin to this Christmas classic?
-I recorded Santa Baby as a gift for a very special person in my life, Jack Nicholson. Have always loved that song, as so many do, thanks to Eartha. The radio DJ, Michael Mann (then 102.3) in South LA made me a cassette tape of her version. Decided to record it and another, Someone To Watch Over Me, as gifts that went on a Christmas card CD. That was 1997. Then Santa Baby went viral in 2000. This version, perhaps because it was sung from the heart, has oft credited to Marilyn Monroe. (Well, that and illegal file sharing. ;-).) Ironically, this version has become the standard for today’s artists.
What’s coming up in 2013 for Cynthia Basinet that you can tell your fans about?
-First, I have my debut full length jazz CD, The Standard, just out. Second, have a fantastic new single, Eventually, out early in ’13. Third, get to tour and act more.
Thank you NCISLA mag for sharing Santa Baby with your fans!
Thanks Cynthia! We appreciate you taking the time out to speak with NCISLA Magazine!
Here’s Cynthia’s version of “Santa Baby” for our readers…

NCIS: Los Angeles Season Eight Rewatch: "Payback" The basics: The search is on for Kensi. Written by: Jordana Lewis Jaffe, who wrote or co-wrote “Honor”, “Patriot Acts”, “Dead Body Politic”, “Paper Soldiers”, “Unwritten Rule”, “Big Brother”, “Iron Curtain Rising”, “Exposure”, “Savior Faire”, “Beacon”, “Defectors”, “Exchange Rate” and “Black Market”.
Directed by: Terrance O’Hara, who directed “The Only Easy Day”, “Brimstone”, “The Bank Job”, “Borderline”, “Tin Soldiers”, “The Job”, “Backstopped”, “Crimeleon”, “Blye, K.” Part Two, “San Voir” Part Two, “End Game”, “Paper Soldiers”, “Descent”, “Ascension”, “Fish Out of Water”, “Blaze of Glory”, “Command and Control” (episode 150), “Matryoshka” Part Two and “Belly of the Beast”. O'Hara has directed some of the show's key episodes.
Guest stars of note: Erik Palladino is back from "Under Siege" as CIA Officer Vostanik Sabatino as is Kurt Yaeger as Sullivan / CIA Officer Ferris, John M. Jackson appears from nearly nine seasons of JAG and a guest shot on NCIS as Retired Admiral A.J. Chegwidden, Elizabeth Bogush returns from "Cancel Christmas" as Joelle Taylor, Teddy Lane Jr. as LAPD Officer and Anzu Lawson as Hitwoman. Our heroes: Find Kensi, find the mole and find a friend from the mothership's mothership. What important things did we learn about: Callen: Betrayed by Joelle. Sam: Outraged by Sabatino's betrayal of his family. Kensi: Drugged, tied to a chair with a psycho wielding a saw and yet was the one with the true power in the room. Deeks: Puts the blame squarely on Hetty. Eric: The voice of calm for Nell with Kensi missing. Nell: Crime scene investigating. Granger: Bad Ass through and through. Hetty: Figures out Joelle is the CIA Officer Joelle but just a little too late. What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: Dad. Sam: Able to toss Deeks across a room with ease. Kensi: Back to Bad Ass Blye. Deeks: Able to toss a chair across a room with ease. Twice. Eric: Toned pollicis brevis muscle. Nell: Field work becomes her. Granger: Happy everyone survived. Hetty: A ray of Sunshine according to AJ. Who's down with OTP: Deeks was all about rescuing Kensi, not waiting for Sullivan/Ferris to finish his threat before Deeks neutralized him. Eric was a reassuring voice for Nell in Ops when Nell was worried about Kensi. Who's down with BrOTP: Not a lot of time for this today with Callen and Sam but the Eric-AJ bromance is off to a great start. Any Hanna family mentions: Michelle and the kids are all a key part of Sam's interrogation of Sabatino. Sabatino's affection for Michelle shown here made him a good choice for "Unleashed".
Fashion review: Callen, Sam and Deeks are still wearing what they were in during "Hot Water" and "Under Siege". Kensi and Eric are wearing what they wore in "Under Siege". Nell is in a blue dress with a black blazer. Granger remains in a hospital gown. Navy blue suit with a dark pattern for Hetty. Music: None. Any notable cut scene: None. Quote: I got three:
Ferris: "Stop smiling." Kensi: "Why? I thought you liked my smile." Ferris: "Yeah, well, you're creeping me out." Kensi: "Aw. This really is personal to you, isn't it? I mean, look, payback for what I did to your leg, I get that, trust me." Ferris: "And on that note…" Kensi: "You wanted, you wanted me to choose you over Deeks, didn't you?" Ferris: "I figured if I could hurt you in more ways than one, why not?" Kensi: "Or maybe spending all those months in Afghanistan with nothing but a horse between your legs kind of got old?" Ferris: "Sweetheart, you were a job." Kensi: "Maybe. Or maybe I made you feel like losing your leg didn't matter." Ferris: "I was just playing a role." Kensi: "Interesting, 'cause you're about to cut off my leg off, and I'm not even buying it."
Deeks: "He's not giving us anything." Hetty: "He may not have anything to give us." Deeks: "No. No, I can't live with that." Hetty: "You might not have a choice, Mr. Deeks." Deeks: "That is awful rich, Hetty, considering you're the person that put her in this position in the first place." Joelle: "Uh, maybe I should go." Deeks: "It's not enough you get your whole team locked up, now you go and kill every single person who might know where she's being held?" Joelle: "I'm just gonna step outside." Deeks: "(To Joelle) It's okay. Sit down, sit down. It's okay. (To Hetty) I'm gonna be perfectly clear about this. If Sabatino doesn't know where she is, that means she's in this all by herself. You understand what that means, right? If anything happens to her that's on you." Hetty: "Now, do you feel any better?"
Granger: "Jones." Nell: "Assistant Director. Uh Granger." Granger: "Field work suits you."
Anything else: Linda Hunt is back with the "Previously on NCIS: Los Angeles" duty. Granger is stabbed, Kensi is kidnapped. Sabatino is the mole according to Sam. Carl Brown thinks his face is the last think Hetty will ever see. Hetty blows up the warehouse. Sabatino is found. Sullivan is Ferris. Ferris is threatening to cut off Kensi's lower leg.
Ferris is cutting up furniture to scare Kensi. She's smiling – almost laughing at him. He wants her to stop smiling. She thought he liked her smile. No, she's creeping him out. Kensi realizes all this is really personal to Ferris. She understands being angry about losing his lower leg. He fires up the saw but Kensi keeps talking. She thinks Ferris wanted her to choose him over Deeks. Ferris makes about crack about hurting Kensi in more than one way but Kensi keeps at it. All those months in Afghanistan, alone with his horse just got old. Ferris tries to sell that all of this payback is a job but Kensi isn't buying it. Maybe, she tells him, that she made him feel like losing his leg didn't matter. He claims it is a role but she says she's not buying it (Awesome Kensi scene – the person with the power is the one who is tied up and not the one with the power saw).
Nell arrives in Ops with an energy drink for Eric. As he downs it, she asks if he has cracked Sharov's phone. He hasn't but his computer beeps. It was a burn phone with four numbers. The first number is Sabatino, the second number is the masked man Hetty shot. The third phone is also at the garage. Nell is worried that Kensi was somehow being held in the garage but Hetty didn't see her and she could be crushed in some rubble. Eric tells her this is not how the story ends. The fourth number is located in a church in Koreatown.
Ferris's phone rings. He says Kensi can't come to the phone but he can take a message. Callen tells him to give up or he'll wind up like the rest of his crew. Ferris isn't interested. Callen says Ferris needs to tell Kensi they're coming for her. Callen hopes that forces Ferris to change his plans. It does – he drugs Kensi and puts a hood over her head.
At the church in Koreatown, Deeks arrives seconds before Callen and Sam and is moving into the church. Callen and Sam slow him down – he can't just go running in there without a partner. Deeks thinks they're making his case for him. Callen says they're going in together. Sam is worried that Deeks is too close to this. He's losing focus. Deeks tells them he hasn't lost his hearing. Callen takes the main part of the church – no Kensi. He makes his ways to the stairs behind the altar. He is in the back of the church's basement. Deeks is in the front of the basement. Sam has gone to the church's second floor.
Callen sees a woman with a hood over her head tied to a chair. She's making grunting noises, trying to move in the chair. Callen calls to her and then Sam and Deeks – he has Kensi. But this woman is wearing a plain white top, not like Kensi's striped henley. Callen cuts the hood off, it is taped around her head. Sam and Deeks arrive with Deeks telling “Kensi” they're getting her out of there. When Callen removes the hood, Joelle is there with tape over her mouth. Deeks asks about Kensi. Callen warns her removing the tape is going to hurt just. As he keeps apologizing, Sam asks if anyone hurt her. Deeks wants to know where Kensi is. Joelle never saw Kensi – someone hit her car and when she looked at the damage, she was thrown into a van. Callen is gently asking question – Deeks is not. Joelle thinks she was drugged- she doesn't know where the man went. Deeks runs out of the room while Joelle hugs Callen.
In interrogation with Sabatino, Hetty demands to know where Kensi is. Sabatino doesn't know. Hetty demands to know where Ferris is. Sabatino doesn't know but knows Kensi and Ferris have history. Before he realized what he who the rouge team was after, Sabatino was trying to take Ferris and Sharov down. "I'm on your side," Sabatino tells Hetty. He wasn't pulling the strings, he doesn't know where Kensi is and he wants these guys arrested as badly ask Hetty does. Hetty thinks his "utter lack of creativity" is such a disappointment.
The interrogation room door flies opened wtih a very angry Deeks there. "Where is she?” he asks and as Sabatino tries to say he doesn't know, Deeks hits him so hard he falls off the interrogation room chair. Tossing that chair across the room, Deeks reasks the question. "Where is she?" is punctuated with a punch between each word. Hetty offers a half-hearted "Mr. Deeks" to get Deeks to stop. Sabatino tells Deeks he can pound him like a piece a meat all he wants – he doesn't know where Kensi is. A rather grim Sam marches into the room. Deeks rears back to hit Sabatino again but Sam tosses Deeks across the room with the same ease Deeks threw the chair. Sam says "enough" as Sabatino rolls around on the floor in pain.
Sitting with her cup of tea in interrogation, Hetty is listening to Sabatino explain how her team needs to control their emotions – especially Deeks. Hetty thinks Deeks is showing more grace than she expected. Sabatino tells Hetty this isn't personal but Hetty says "the hell is not." She wants to know where Kensi is. Sabatino has no idea. Deeks is in the main room of the boat shed. He is picking a fight with Sabatino on the screen. When Deeks tells Sam he wants to go in, Sam won't let him because he's picking a fight with Sabatino on the screen.
Callen brings Joelle to the couch in the boat shed. He has someone picking up some Nutella. Joelle is pleased he remembered. Callen apologizes again – Joelle should have never been involved in this. Deeks apologizes as well. He was expecting Kensi. Joelle tells them both it is OK. Callen told her what is going on – she understands. Callen gets an update from Sam and Deeks, including Deeks's questioning on Sabatino. Callen thinks they're going off book on this one but Sam doesn’t think there is a book for this. Callen wonders if the CIA will go for a trade – Sabatino for Kensi but that only works if Ferris calls them. Per Callen's request, Nell is looking for evidence in the church
At the church, Nell shivers – the creepiness of the place is getting to her. Decapitated toys, bad '70's carpet. Nell tries to walk through Kensi and Ferris's last moments in the church. Callen calls, Ferris has to change his plans and move Kensi but leaves his phone behind so the team thinks he's there. Kensi is gone, Ferris is gone but Joelle is already there. Nell doesn't understand that since Joelle's timeline had her abducted earlier in the day. She was already in the church when Kensi arrived. Nell is worried that Kensi was never there. That the team doesn't know what she's been through or where she is since she was grabbed.
As she leaves the interrogation room, Hetty wants some good news. Granger is stable is the best Callen can do. Hetty wants Kensi news but Callen only has that Nell is still looking for evidence. Hetty tells Callen to use his instincts since Sabatino is a parasite.
In interrogation, Callen circles the table – which Sabatino thinks is cute. "I don't know what you want to say that I didn't say to Rumpelstiltskin." Callen has one question – how did Sabatino thinks this was going to end. Sabatino admits in cuffs sitting across from Callen wasn't the plan. Callen wants to know if Sabatino thought he was going to be the hero. "Wouldn’t turn it down if they were offering" was Sabatino's reply. Wondering where's the upside of taking down a government agency, Sabatino explains it is his agency, the CIA.
Sabatino figures out the only reason anyone is talking to him is because Ferris hasn't been in touch with NCIS. Ferris has gone underground if (a big if) Kensi is still alive she's with him. Sabatino thinks he's the only one who can get Ferris to come out again. Callen says no and then no thank you. NCIS will find Kensi another way. Sabatino thinks turning his offer to help down is a big mistake. Ferris is sick. He found this rouge team and likes working for them for reasons other than love of country. Callen wants to know about Ferris, Sabatino explains he's a man you wouldn't leave alone with your sister.
In the main room of Ops with Joelle sipping tea near a big jar of Nutella, Deeks turns off the video feed. He doesn’t think Hetty should have left Kensi alone – she wasn't ready for this. Sam warns Deeks not to go there. Hetty didn't have a choice. Deeks says Hetty didn't protect her. Kensi's isn't ready, she isn't herself and this happens. Sam has faith in Kensi – "She's going to make the bastard pay."
Ferris wheels Kensi into a house under construction. He tries to wake her – "we're home."
An angry Sam walks into interrogation. Callen asks Sabatino when did he find out NCIS was a target. After Sabatino admits later than he would have liked, Sam asks about the spyware in the e-mail he sent to Kensi while they were in Afghanistan. Sabatino tells them he was used. "Was that before or after you sent Tahir Khaled to my son's school?" Sabatino denies any involvement in the attack on Keating – he was working on the rogue team in the CIA for two years. "If Hetty hadn't sent Kensi to Afghanistan, none of this would have happened." Since NCIS interference cost the rogue team money, they decided to end OSP to protect their operations. Sam asks why Sabatino didn't warn them. Sabatino admits the first time he knew the CIA was going after NCIS was when he saw Hetty with Carl Brown in the garage. The rogue team never told Sabatino much, they didn't trust him. "Does anyone?" Callen asks.
Sam tells Sabatino he's giving Michelle a bad name. Michelle was in the CIA with Sabatino. She was the reason Sabatino was invited to dinner at the Hanna household. She was the reason Sabatino met Aiden and Kam. "She vouched for you." Sabatino is unmoved, telling Sam to ask Michelle about the rogue team. Sam warns Sabatino that he is already on thin ice, "don't make me smash your head through it." Realizing taunting Michelle was a mistake, Sabatino assures Sam he'd never do anything to hurt his children or Michelle or anyone on the team. Callen makes a snide remark about Sabatino wanting to help them and he says he does – and the team has to let him.
In the main room of the boat shed, Deeks throws another chair. This one hit the wave runner in the boat shed's sun room and startling Joelle. Hetty arrives and turns off the feed from the interrogation room. Deeks is pacing and furious. He tells Hetty that he can't do this – Sabatino isn't helping. Hetty tells Deeks he may have to live with this – Sabatino may have nothing to tell the team – Deeks may not have a choice. Deeks unloads on Hetty. Explaining how it is awfully rich that Hetty is talking about choice when Kensi was put in her current position by Hetty's choices, Joelle wants out of the room. Deeks keeps going, explaining how Hetty got the whole team locked up and then killed everyone who knew where Kensi might be. Now Joelle really wants out of the room. Deeks tells her to sit down, it is OK. Turning to Hetty, he makes it "perfectly clear" that if Sabatino doesn’t know where Kensi is, Kensi is out there alone and if anything happens to Kensi, that's on Hetty. Hetty dismisses is righteous anger, asking if unloading on her made him feel any better.
Taking photos at the church, Nell tells Eric she found a black case. Eric is walking from Ops to the first floor asking about the case. When Nell opens the case Ferris used to move the power saw, she tells Eric he doesn't need or want to know. Eric asks if it is empty. Nell says it is and that's not a good thing. Looking around the room, Nell sees wheelchair tracks – explaining how Kensi was moved if she was in the church. Eric sees AJ Chegwidden walk into Ops just as he was getting to the area between the bullpen and the little couch set-up near the wall. Eric says "beard" which completely confuses Nell. She's returning to Ops.
Eric orders Chegwidden to put his hands up, get on his knees and cross his ankles. "That isn’t going to happen," Chegwidden tells Eric. The Admiral tosses Hetty's ID card to Eric after he asks how he got into the building. Hetty asked him to come. Eric thinks the Admiral may be mocking him about how secure the building is. Chegwidden is but sort of isn't – "take the compliment." Eric checks out Chegwidden’s – "two D's" – background and is impressed. They instantly bond on gaming and shared body part humor. Saying he knows OSP is in trouble, AJ wants Eric to get him up to speed.
Leaving interrogation, Callen asks for Joelle, who is freshening up. Sam notices that things are a little frosty between Deeks and Hetty. With no word from Ferris about Kensi, Sam asks Callen what he wants them to do. Since Michelle trusts him – though Sam reminds Callen that Michelle has been away from the Agency too long to know Ferris and the others – Callen will do the same. That earns a "really" from Deeks. Sabatino knows a CIA safe house where Ferris could be holding Kensi. Deeks thinks Sabatino is walking them into an ambush. Hetty is pro-Sabatino for now. Callen asks about Granger, who Hetty has made special precautions to make sure he's safe.
A young woman walks up to Granger's hospital room. Passing herself off as a visitor, she wants to sit with Granger and hold his hand. There is a police officer outside his room but the officer is friendly - as much protection detail as guard duty. He recommends talking to Granger, "they say sometimes they can hear you," as he lets her in. Once in the room, the woman shuts off the equipment monitoring Granger's vitals. Granger, by the way, is still handcuffed to the bed. Pulling out a hypodermic needle, she moves to the other side of the room and starts to inject something into Granger's IV fluids line. Granger shoots the woman in the neck before pulling out the IV needle from his arm.
Eric is giving Chegwidden a full tour of all the cool tools in Ops when Nell walks in. Nell knows "Admiral Albert Jethro Chegwidden" by reputation – SEAL, Commander of JAG, Hetty's friend. Eric's tablet beeps with news of the shooting at the hospital. "You people are a mess," Chegwidden says. "Welcome to NCIS: Los Angeles, we be crazy," is Nell's reply. Chegwidden orders a full security detail on Granger and the boat shed along with security footage of the shooting along with a full workup on the dead shooter. Asking where Hetty is, Chegwidden is told "we don’t' know" by Nell and "the boat shed" by Eric, who changes his answer to "we don't know." Chegwidden cancels the security detail to the boat shed – he'll go there instead.
Callen, Sam, Deeks and Sabatino pull up outside a rundown small home. Sabatino answers no to Sam's question about being there before. Callen's doesn't think it is the place. "Either you're trying to get us all killed," Callen says, "or it was a set-up," according to Sam. The four men enter the building – Callen and Sam through the front, Deeks and an unarmed Sabatino in the back. It is a meth lab. Kensi is nowhere to be found.
Hetty hands Joelle some tea with honey. Grateful for NCIS's kindness and hospitality, Joelle tells Hetty she feels so much better. Hetty explains that NCIS isn't always kind. She's also surprised Joelle fells so much better since most of her team is dead. Joelle gasps. "You have a tell, Officer Taylor." Asked how long she knew, Hetty tells Joelle not long enough. She also says Joelle's betrayal of Callen will not go unpunished. Joelle explains she didn't want to hurt anyone, just keep an eye on Callen. She got dragged into this and broke up with Callen when she couldn't lie to him anymore.
To Joelle, this seems like a good time to leave. Hetty, however, wants her to stay. Joelle claims ignorance – she knows nothing about the problems between NCIS and the CIA. She's just teaching the children of foreign dignities and diplomats – keeping an eye on them. "I'm not cut out for the wet-work." But she sort of is when she pulls a gun on Hetty. When Joelle promises to take good care of Callen, Hetty tells Joelle she's already in his rear-view mirror. Joelle can't shoot Hetty. AJ, however, can hit Joelle in the back of the head with one of the boat shed's oars.
Kensi isn't waking up and that angers a jumpy Ferris. When Ferris pulls her head up, Kensi gives several closed-mouth coughs. Ferris thinks she's faking but Kensi is still unresponsive. When she starts to choke, he slaps her across the face. Blood comes from her mouth and the coughing/choking becomes more intense. Yelling she's not getting off that easy, Ferris tips the wheelchair down. On her back, Kensi is still coughing. Ferris picks up a knife and cuts Kensi's left hand and leg free before dropping the knife. When he drops it, Kensi kicks Ferris in the head, sending him half-way across the room. Picking up a nearby box cutter, she frees her right leg but not her right hand. Ferris comes after her but gets his prosthetic caught in the wheel chair. Kensi tries to stab him in that leg but only cuts his jeans.
Ferris kicks the wheelchair, knocking the box cutter from Kensi's hand. As she stretches to reach it, Ferris comes with a small sledge hammer and tries to hit Kensi with it. She moves away from it but also the box cutter. Kicking Ferris in in the nom de plumes and then the chest once again, she knocks him into a wall. Retrieving the box cutter, she frees herself and starts to struggle with Ferris. The two trade punches with Kensi slashing him across the abdomen with the box cutter. She has this fight won when an armed couple – a man and a woman – enter the room.
Hetty and AJ are joking over an unconscious Joelle. Hetty feigns concern Joelle is dead but AJ says he didn't hit her that hard. Maybe. Could go either way. AJ throws some water on Joelle, who wakes up with a headache. Hetty questions Joelle about Kensi and Ferris as Callen, Sam, Deeks and Sabatino walk in. Callen rushes to Joelle's side, asking what happened. AJ warns Callen to stay away and Hetty agrees – "step away from CIA Officer Taylor." Callen is shocked, Sam is angry, Deeks says "Oh snap" while Sabatino sighs, "And I'm the bad guy."
Arriving at the hospital, Nell goes right into Granger's room. The NCIS security detail replaced the friendly cop. "Jones," Granger says to Nell, who corrects herself when she first calls him "Assistant Director" but changes it to "Granger." He tells her field works suits her. Nell is there for the shooter's bag and mostly the phone. Since Granger is supposed to be resting, Nell is going to make it quick. Taking Tim and Nancy, the NCIS security detail, to the dead body, Nell asks them to form a wall while she uses the dead woman's fingers to access the phone. When the thumb and index finger don't work, the ring finger does. Nell is looking at phone numbers and text messages.
Callen and Joelle trade accusations about who lied to the other. Callen doesn’t think his lies were the same as Joelle's – he was trying to protect him. Joelle said she was trying to protect Callen and after a while, she couldn't keep doing it. Callen forgives her for lying – it is part of the job – but not for the betrayal. She asks him if he can forgive himself for all the times he betrayed other people. Leaving interrogation, Callen runs right into Sam. Sam asks if Callen wants to talk and Sam is relieved when Callen says no – "I'd be worried if you did." Callen mentions that Sam introduced them and Sam was waiting for that. Sam said they were all fooled, they are human. Callen just thinks they were sloppy.
Callen's phone rings. Nell sent Eric the info from the dead woman's phone. The phone number she has for Ferris in the one they found in the church. Nell also found a text message chain that matches two contacts on the phone. Those phones are at the same home in Studio City.
Promising to end Ferris, Kensi is struggling as she's being re-tied to the wheelchair by the male henchman. Ferris has a cloth held to his wound. The woman's phone buzzes. She shows Ferris a photo that excites him. It is a picture of Granger dead in his bed. The Not-Ferris male team member has his phone buzz. Passing it to Ferris, it is a picture of Hetty dead.
Pulling up to the Studio City house, Sam and Deeks are going in the front, Callen through the side. Sabatino asks where is he going? Nowhere – Deeks handcuffs him to the SUV's door. Inside the house, not-Ferris tells the others they have company. Ferris orders the two of them to go. He's got Kensi and his power saw.
Callen picks the side door lock, Deeks picks the front. The men enter simultaneously. Sam takes not Not-Ferris rather quickly. The woman gets behind Callen as he enters a room. When she starts firing, Kensi yells for Deeks. Callen orders Deeks to get Kensi. Callen takes out the woman after Deeks leaves.
Deeks kicks in the door where Ferris has Kensi. Ferris is holding the power saw to her neck. As he starts to speak, Deeks has had enough and fires two bullets into Ferris's head. Deeks is upset Kensi is bleeding but she explains she bit her tongue. She's fine. Kensi and Deeks hug. Callen walks in and asks about Kensi but Deeks says "Dad, get out of the room." Sam joins them and Kensi tells both Callen and Sam to get out of the room. Telling Kensi she scared him, Deeks winds up carrying Kensi out of the house. Outside of the House, Callen and Sam find a Sabatino free SUV. They're also not sure if they're done with the mole.
In Hetty's office, she thanks AJ for coming on such short notice. He thinks with what's going on in DC, LA looks a lot saner these days. Asking about Granger, Hetty tells AJ that better people have tried to kill him – including AJ. "I was young and he was stupid." Chegwidden thinks it would be a hell of a thing of Agent Orange is the thing that kills them.
Callen does to his dining room set (gift from Joelle) what Ferris wanted to do to Kensi.
At the hospital, Granger asks Hetty if he is dead (and this is so sad). Hetty tells Granger that everyone is safe and she'll tell him about the mole later. Hetty wants Granger to go back to sleep. He said he had a dream about a buzzard circling him. "Don't be a smartass Owen."
What head canon can be formed from here: Kensi was right – she was ready to go back to work and proved it over and over again while she was held captive. The cold turn to the Deeks-Hetty relationship. AJ and Eric playing "Uncharted: Lost Legacy".
The picture on top of this is its own head canon - after months of rehab from what could have been a career ending/life changing injury, there needs to be three CIA staffers, two armed, to keep Kensi captive and not after she stabbed another.
Episode number: 15 for season eight, 183 overall.
