A portrait of your fated lover

Group 1
Cards : Agate - Find your solid ground, Knight of pentacles, Treat yourself eat what you want, Underworld, Newborn butterfly, Majestic stag " I honor my self worth by asking for what I want."
There's a predominance of Earth energy in this spread, especially Taurus energy. I also picked up on Venusian energy so Libra may be significant as well. This person's energy feels very feminine. I think it is safe to say that this person is a lover by nature. They are very caring, kind, generous on a daily basis but those qualities will be even more highlighted when they are with you. They have a very empathetic nature as well. Their sensitivity shows in the way they talk and in their gestures. They walk very slowly, their touch is deliberate and careful, their tone is reassuring and warm. They are very encouraging and supportive of others as well. I feel like your trope with this person would be friends to lovers. Connection to and through music seems very significant. Music could be part of their hobbies but it could also be their job. They need time to trust people but once their mind is made, this person does not back down until they get what they want. They have a steady and secure approach with relationships. They take the time to get to know the other and make sure that both partners are on the same wave length because they value stability and authenticity. When they are dating, they are in for the long run. They're not interested in short term connections. This person is family oriented and also career oriented so they would appreciate a partner that is respectful of their goals.
They definitely are a foody ! In the past, they may have struggled with their body image and physical health. They could have struggled with eating disorders. But now, this person is very conscious of what they eat. However, they do not deprive themselves of what makes them happy. They've worked really hard on their sense of worth and can now proudly say that they love themselves. They've gone through an important transformation in their life. This could have involved a physical glow up. But I feel like their mental state changed drastically as well, as I get the impression with the underworld card that they overcame a period of depression. With the energy of the stag, I feel like this person has stepped into their true power after many trials. I also pick up on the fact that they feel grateful for these challenges because they're aware of the role they played in their progress. They learned how to set their boundaries and ensure that their needs are met. They may have been neglected in past relationships.
They enjoy spending time alone in nature to get back to their center. If in the past they used to be surrounded by many people, they learned the hard way that sometimes being alone was better than being in bad company. This person now values their alone time and makes it a part of their routine. Speaking of routines, their energy feels quite organized and stable. This person likes for things to be explicit. They like to know in advance what their schedule will be, what people expect of them, what resources do they have and so on. Unpredictability may scare them. Physically, I feel like they're quite tall and fit. They put a lot of work into their health and their appearance. They dress aesthetically. Their physical traits are natural for the majority : they don't dye their hair, they likely do not have any piercing or tattoo, if they've had any surgery it isn't something that is appearant and it was likely done for health purposes only. They may not wear make up or if they do, they use very little amount of product. I get a very clean vibe from this group. Honestly, I feel like your person could be modeling for an ad. For some of you, that may be part of their job. Anyways, they are definitely good looking and I feel like you'll particularly enjoy looking at their face. They may have straight hair with bangs that hide their eyes. They may like to wear hoodies and beanies or caps a lot. I feel like their fashion style is rather genderless. What stands out the most is how clean and tidy it looks all together. They may go for a casual chic vibe more often.
This person has a very romantic vibe. They could mostly show affection through physical touch, acts of service, gift giving and quality time. Though they may be very artistic and don't have any difficulty communicating in their daily life, I feel like in an intimate setting they have a hard time finding their words. They may not say "I love you" very often but their actions will show you without a doubt that they do. They'll bring you your favorite food when you're feeling a bit down, surprise you when you least expect it because you deserve it, anticipate your needs, make significant gestures to help you on your journey. Their love feels slow and steady. They'll build a cocoon around you that you'll never want to leave because of how safe you feel in it. You'll never have to fear this person's reactions or wonder whether they're faking it. Everything they do is very genuine and deliberate. If they tell you they like you, they mean it. If they gift you something, they meant to. They don't have any second thought, any ulterior motive than to take care of you, nurture you and love you wholeheartedly.

Group 2
Cards : 8 of pentacles, Chrysocolla - Be your own mama, I've got superpowers, The Observer, Sturdy crab, Eternal roots "Guidance is available to me now. I know that angels, ancestors and spirit guides are always at hand. I do not walk alone.
Okay, this is definitely my psychic / healer group. This person is a good mix of Earth and Water energy, especially Taurus, Scorpio and Cancer. This person has a hard time looking at themselves in the mirror. They struggle with their body image and they are not comfortable with showing their body. They are very modest and this could also be because of their cultural background. They are a hard worker to the point that when they're up to something they have a hard time stopping. They may stutter or have a hard time finding their words in public settings but in private they can be pretty elaborate. This person had to grow up very quickly and parent themselves. They could be working in a medical field or a position that requires them to care for others : teacher, paramedic, massage therapist, psychologist and so on. They use their hands a lot or they have the ability to provide healing through touch. They may also do a lot of manual activities as a hobby. They could have the ability to read into energies. This may or may not be a conscious thing. This person is possibly religious and/or interested in the occult.
They have a hard time trusting other people. They have a sturdy shell that not many have been able to see beyond. This person is alone most of the time. They have a hard time making connections. They may struggle with ASD. This person could be neurodivergent. They need a lot of quiet time to recharge. They could also struggle with mental health issues. This person has been through a lot, that's for sure. And despite all of that, they are the kindest and sweetest person you'll ever meet. In group settings, they tend to be like a mother. They cater to everyone's needs exept their own. They encourage and compliment others, make sure everyone's eaten and drunk their water, that everyone's had a proper sleep and is feeling good. But they forget themselves in the process. Physically, they have rather long hair. They can be quite curvy but I feel like what stands out the most about their appearance is that they hide behind a lot of clothing. They wear oversized clothes or clothes that aren't revealing. They may layer clothes a lot. If they wear skirts or dresses, those are quite long and flowy so that it doesn't stick to their body. Even in Summer, this person is covered up. This person masks a lot of their true self in public. This could be litteral in the sense that they wear an actual mask in public, maybe for health purposes for some. But it could also be metaphorical in the sense that they wear things or act in ways that is not relevant to who they are as a person. This is likely a defense mechanism and they may do so because they feel pressured. Of course, it could also mean that this person wears a veil in public.
In connections, I feel like they show their affection in all ways. They have no problem changing love languages to adapt to their partner's needs. This person feels like a chameleon a little. I think this could be related to their ability to mask certain aspects of themselves but also to their high levels of empathy. I am not given many details about their physique but more about their personality so it could also mean that looks don't matter to them. They also feel very balanced in their feminine and masculine. It could be possible that this person is gender neutral. I see a lot of green on the cards which relates to heart chakra energy. So this person has a lot of heart that they put into everything they do. They are a very genuine person that only wishes to love and be loved. Their shell isn't easy to crack but once you've earned their trust, you can be sure that they will treat you like royalty. They are 100% a giver and tend to be on the submissive side. In that sense, they feel a bit similar to group 1's person. Family is important to this person. They may wish to have a family of their own in the future. Like group 1's person, they are not into short term connections. They date for the long run. They look for a partner that can be understanding of their shadows and will not run away when things get difficult. This person is dealing with an abandonment wound. In past connections, they were mostly left out and never chosen. They may have been bullied as a child. This person is extremely loyal and dedicated to their lover. You will never have to doubt about this person's dedication and intentions.

Group 3
Cards : Copper - Energize your whole world, Strength, Hierophant, Do what you love, Cunning fox, Forgotten arch "The more I honor my inner light the more I brighten the world. I choose to shine."
This group gives of fire and earth energy, especially Taurus, Leo and Sagittarius. There are two things that are striking about this person : their eyes and their voice. They are smart AF. If you were to debate with them, you wouldn't be able to win. They are very convincing people. And also very charming. They ooze confidence. This is someone that is very active physically, both for health purposes but also for fun. They are very passionate, bed time included. They are also very funny. They make a lot of snarky comments and sexual inuendos. They speak and type really fast. They cannot stay still. They have many interests and can pretty much do anything. They're an all rounder and a fast learner. They are very skilled and popular among their peers. They have core values that they would defend no matter what. They cannot stand injustice. This stems from past experiences, including romantic ones. They could have been cheated on by ex partners. This person may have been told quite frequently in their life that they were "too much", "too loud", "too noticeable". Which may have birthed a lot of resentment in this person as well as anger issues.
Physically they are quite bulky and impressive. They intimidate people just by their looks. There's something about them that's very warm. It could be because of their fashion style, their shining smile or their incredible charisma. They are intense. Not only because they are constantly on their guards and ready to fight but because their personality is complex and they have a lot of depth. This person may be religious. Or at least they're very traditional. If they define themselves as a man, they may be a bit of a machist. They have a very dominant energy. I feel like they're the type to believe in that alpha/beta/omega dynamic between people. And they want to be perceived as and embody that alpha energy. They come off as very masculine in their energy. So they may struggle with expressing their feminine side more. This person is likely to show affection through actions than words. They are definitely sensual and kinky. They have a lot of stamina. They are stubborn AF. But they're also incredibly uplifting and inspiring. This person is the type that would push their partner to be the best version of themselves and help them embrace their own light. I feel like they would challenge their partner, tease them a lot, bring out the more competitive side of them because they themselves are very competitive. They aren't afraid of depth and shadows so if their partner had any rocky past I feel like this person wouldn't mind. They're the "only matters the here and now" type.
This person has a very curious mind and I feel like that applies sexually. They may like to spice things up quite often. They may enjoy spicy food and boosting their stamina with certain herbs deemed as aphrodisiacs. They could believe in superstitions. Again, I get a very committed vibe from this group. If this person dates someone, they do it with the hope that it will lead to something long lasting. They are the most likely to commit very early on in relationships. They do not like to dwell on the past. I also feel like very early on this person will make you feel like royalty. They definitely pamper their partner and spoil them. Even though they may not be into PDA, I feel like this person will deliberately at times use physical touch to show others you are off limits. They definitely are the jealous and possessive type. They may be a bit rigid at first in connections and they need to be sure their partner is as serious as they are if they want to be able to release the need to control.

I paid $5 to access séamus malekafzali’s latest substack on palestine, here’s the full text,
It is easy to be lulled into a state of complacency, even with military occupation.
Israel’s occupation of Palestine has gone on longer than many of us on Earth have been alive, now going on 75 years. The levels of that deplacement, blockading, and violence have ebbed and flowed over years and decades, but that hand around the neck has always remained, even if how much it constricts has a tendency to loosen and tighten. Over 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israel this year in its occupation. News bulletins of them dying, oftentimes teenagers, come up through the headlines of Palestinian newspapers and channels as often as the weather. These deaths at the hands of Israeli security personnel are not isolated incidents, with soldiers materializing on roadsides and at checkpoints as unfortunate coincidence. They are constant spikes in the waveform of an incessant low-grade hum of humiliation, imprisonment, and destruction that has made daily life a forced agreement to constantly exist on the precipice of death.
This framing is not meant to be a tired retread of the conflict between Israel and Palestine or the nature of the Israeli occupation. This is meant to be a bulwark against the inevitable framing of this latest battle unfolding around Gaza, as it will appear in the Western media in the days to come.
There is a tendency, a deep-set one, to report Israel and Palestine as two countries that are on roughly the same playing field internationally, as you might report on a war that might involve Israel battling against a place like Jordan or Egypt. This kind of coverage obscures how deeply interlocked Israel’s military operations are with the fabric of the Palestinian society.
In the West Bank, settlements and checkpoints have made Palestinian land into a kind of comical archipelago, where in addition to being separated from Gaza by a huge land border, they are also separated from traveling to communities only a stone’s throw away from them without going through significant anguish. In Gaza, while no Israeli soldiers walk the streets, all their land borders are essentially sealed, their ports almost completely blockaded. Israel’s continued occupation has been so pinpoint and precise that its planes have gone as far as bombing bookstores, and its restrictions did not let up even when the COVID-19 pandemic reduced one health organization to carrying only as many tests of the deadly disease as could fit in a car.
This is not a matter of moral justification; one does not need to constantly busy themselves with having to make a full ideological conversion before understanding this. This is a matter of cause and effect.
What is the logical expectation, regardless of politics, ideology, culture, and creed, when a population of people is thrust into conditions that can only be described as an open-air prison, where every individual is a criminal in the eyes of the military occupying power regardless if they pick up a rifle or not, because there is supposedly always the threat that they will one day?
These are the basic conditions that have preceded the initiation of Operation al-Aqsa Storm this morning. As dawn broke on the morning of October 7, only one day after the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, Hamas’ military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, launched a military operation of unprecedented scope in its history. Hamas fighters would not only attempt to enter Israeli territory proper with ground troops, already in of itself an intensely bold action (though not without precedent in the past decade). This operation would be a combined incursion into Israel by both land, sea, and even air. Ground forces would cut the border fence into settlements surrounding Gaza, speedboats would make landings in southern Israel, and fighters from a newly-inaugurated paraglider division would fly over the border fortifications and then further inland.
Threats of an invasion of Israeli territory proper have been a staple of speeches from Hamas and Hezbollah and groups like it for years. There was a long-standing perception by outside observers that it was fanciful. An intentionally lofty piece of propaganda that fires up supporters while the real military wheeling and dealing is done under far more subtle and controlled terms, as with most militant organizations. After all, no Israeli-administered town, the ones occupied in Palestine during the initial 1948 war, had ever been taken in any war against the Jewish state since its creation, even by a combined force of multiple Arab national militaries.
That notion now can no longer exist.
At sunrise, Hamas fired a gigantic barrage of rockets into Israeli territory, a staggering 5,000 in the first wave alone. As Israeli military and police forces were distracted by fires and rocket destruction in residential areas of the country, Palestinian forces in Gaza proceeded to make their primary move.
After the sun rose, Hamas cut through the border fence surrounding Israel and sent both fighters on foot and on motorcycles into Israel. Images released by the group seem to tell a story in frozen figures. Israeli soldiers, strewn dead, caught by surprise, one having even rushed out so quickly that he put on his military gear but no other clothes except his underwear. An even grimmer story could be found in one of the IDF military dormitories, where an entire room full of soldiers had been massacred, only having perhaps seconds earlier gotten the alarm that Hamas had breached the perimeter, many of them seemingly mid-way through getting out of bed.
From there, Hamas made unprecedented move after unprecedented move. Hamas fighters moved as far north into Zikim, built on the former Palestinian village of Hiribya, and moved as far east as Ofakim, built on the former hamlet of Khirbat Futais. The Erez Crossing, for years the only legal border crossing that Israel operated with the Gaza Strip, came under full Palestinian control. Sderot, a city where Israelis had once gathered on couches dragged to high peaks to watch the bombardment of Palestinians, now found themselves facing down Palestinian fighters in their own streets.
An additional shock would come in Israel’s initial response. Amidst cataclysmic scenes like hundreds of ravers in the desert near Gaza fleeing on foot, neither the Israeli president nor the prime minister spoke in those early hours in the morning.
The Israeli high command, despite the continuous insistence of Palestinian factions that they would one day attempt to take the fight into Israel itself, had become complacent. They, like many observers of Israel-Palestine, believed the occupation they had constructed could go on forever, unburdened by the need to adapt. Israeli soldiers after all were now more used to sniping reporters and unarmed protesters than engaging in military conflict. Entropy was what was propelling the military occupation complex of the Jewish state, not a wholly active effort.
Despite an ungodly amount of Western military equipment, highly advanced anti-aircraft systems programmed to shoot down thousands of rockets, an international reputation for tenacity and strategic knowhow, and multiple victories against Arab nations again and again and again, all of it ended up being useless against a Hamas fighter flying in on a box fan and a parachute.
This failure is two-fold, and both are closely related. One is the expectation that things could go on as before without addressing the root of the issue (that being a military occupation of an entire state), and the other in expectation that those being occupied had no capacity to learn from experience how Israel’s military strategy operates, people who could then going on to capitalize on that knowledge.
There is a fundamental flaw in the perception of Western powers toward the Middle East in general and Arabs in particular that because the groups fighting with Israel or the United States are irregular, bereft of highly professional uniforms and dedicated gigantic military headquarters, that they do not have the same ability to strategize and to confront the forces that are occupying their countries. Flashes of how faulty this thinking is rear their head again and again, from Iraq to Afghanistan and everywhere in-between and around, but still the idea, unspoken as it may be, remains that they are fundamentally unequipped compared to the might they are fighting against. But Hamas has military strategists of its own, ones that understand the asymmetric situation they are dealing with, and ones that understand what the actual capabilities of Israel are, versus what their perception is.
The perception of Israel’s invulnerability versus what has actually been displayed today could not have been more different. Instead of being forced to immediately pull back, in essence making today a raid, Hamas has instead actually contested several Israeli settlements, which are still being fought over at time of this writing many hours after the initial incursion from Gaza began. A single Israeli soldier captured and held in Gaza used to capture the Israeli imagination for years; now there are believed to be not only tens of soldiers captured by Hamas, but tens of Israeli civilians as well, all now being held within the Strip. Hamas has also brought Israeli military vehicles back into the Strip, the novelty of working IDF equipment now under Palestinian control a source of celebration within the territory. Over 100 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the first day of Hamas’ attack, and nearly 1000 injured, a shocking early casualty count in an ongoing conflict where casualties on the Palestinians’ side are usually far more lopsided.
Israel’s response so far to Hamas’ operation has been to escalate rhetorically, with Netanyahu now calling this a war, and escalating its usual military strategy with Gaza, with carpet bombing now on an intense, concentrated scale. At the time of this writing, almost 200 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in only a few hours, with that number expected to rise significantly in the days to come. Already, news has come in of Israeli planes having leveled Gaza’s second-largest building, the Palestine Tower, which housed a plethora of media offices, in scenes reminiscent of Israel’s bombing of another tower block of media offices in 2021 that infamously took out the local bureau of the Associated Press.
As fighting continues into the night in ways never seen before since 1948, the question remains: after all these decades, why now?
The ostensible justifications of what the clincher was that sparked this operation are innumerable, but two appear to be most clearly illuminated: the recent increased activity of far-right Zionists at the al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem (hence the name of the operation itself), but just as well the indications that the Saudi Arabia and Israel may be close to a normalization deal, which would be the largest such development in the Abraham Accords yet. Hezbollah mentioned this operation as being a “message” and a “decisive response” to Arab nations pursuing the idea of normalization with Israel. Still, it is important to recognize that pinning the undertaking of a completely gigantic operation of this scale as just a simple message to Saudi Arabia would be reductive. As the Los Angeles Times’ international correspondent Nabih Bulos says of the matter:
“To pretend that Hamas did this to be a spoiler of KSA-Israel normalization is just downright epic in its navel-gazing nonsense.”
What is important to always return to is that eternally governing line above everything: the low hum of constant occupation, and who has been causing its spikes. Israel’s government, its most far-right in its history, has been on the warpath almost immediately from its inauguration, with figures like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, now thrust to the forefront, doing everything large and small to provoke a Palestinian response. The hope is that the inevitable Palestinian response can mobilize the Israeli society, that it can be swiftly defeated by the Israeli military, and that the Israeli state can use such an opportunity to impose its sovereignty over what little of Palestine governed by Palestinians remains, and perhaps even what lies beyond it.
But that formula relies on the Palestinian side only accepting being provoked, themselves having no strategy of their own outside of firing rockets and yelling on television. Military occupation breeds a feeling of annihilation, but that annihilation is enclosed with it inevitable feelings of rabid and desperate hope, inspiring within irregular groups desires to try things never tried before. These are not always guaranteed to be successful: one may look at Aleppo when rebel groups managed to come together and break the siege on the city in the final stages of the battle, only for it to fall in the months to come anyway. Nevertheless, there is a real perception within Israel, communicated out to the world by its media and by its intelligentsia, that it is a nation on the verge of internal collapse, brought to the precipice by far-right forces it has let fester for decades without envisioning its eventual conclusion.
What does looking at how Israel is faring now communicate to Palestinian factions in Gaza? What do young people in Gaza, who make up 47% of the Strip’s population, imagine might lie ahead for them as they see these events unfold? What does a Hamas fighter imagine might be possible when, as the writer Josef Burton says, he exits a 25 by 7-mile space he’s never left in his entire life?

Tarot and the Ilvermorny Houses
In recent years, I have learned more about Divination, the art of looking into hidden parts of the past, present, and future using one’s own inner eye guided by certain magical tools. Throughout my studies, I have come to realize that there are certain parallels that can be drawn between the suits of the minor arcana in Tarot and the houses at Ilvermorny. Each of the suits – Coins, Swords, Cups, and Wands – is often associated with a different area of life, much like the four individual “parts” of a magic user often associated with each Ilvermorny House. It is from this approach that this essay will attempt to further explore the nuances of the Ilvermorny Houses and their admittees.
Wampus — Coins
Wampus is known as the House of the Body, and the tarot suit of Coins is associated with the physical realm. The Coins deal primarily with finances, work, physical health, and anything that may belong to the realm of the five senses – what we can touch and hold. Thus, if this exploration holds any merit, we may see Wampuses grounded in the physical world, concerned primarily with what is happening in real time, what they can control or influence with their direct action.
The House of the Warrior may at first glance seem tied to the classical element of fire, but instead, think of the Tarot’s way of aligning Coins with elemental Earth. After all, a warrior is perhaps the most likely to be grounded in the physical realm as one who enacts changes in their world through their physical actions. In addition, much of the imagery in the Coins represents the agricultural cycle – planting, tending, and harvesting one’s crops. Similarly, Wampuses may view the world as a fertile landscape from which abundance may spring forth with the right tools and their own hard work. This suit also contains a warning not to get too caught up in what you can perceive with your bodily senses that you fail to remember that there are things beyond that which you can see.
With this interpretation, Wampus may lend itself to literal fighting and farming, but also to nature, activism, business, public safety, law, skilled crafts, athletics — fields where people understand the value of getting their hands dirty when necessary.
Horned Serpent — Swords
It is said that Horned Serpent is the House of Scholars and the Mind, and Swords are no different — this suit represents thoughts, ideals, and rationality. Its imagery represents a mind constantly at work, healthiest when it allows itself time for rest but prone to overactivity which may lead to restlessness and anxiety. So too may Horned Serpents find themselves capable of great feats of the mind, so long as they care for themselves by allowing themselves time for recovery and rejuvenation.
Swords also represent the element of Air. This may seem counterintuitive considering the Horned Serpent is a water-dwelling creature; however, may it be remembered that Air represents not only thought but (perhaps more importantly) communication, the air that passes out of our lungs to give us voice. What drew Isolt Sayre most to the Horned Serpent was its ability to communicate with her. So too we may find those sorted into Horned Serpent House to be interested in communication, the conveyance of one’s ideas and thoughts to others through verbal, written, or visual means.
As such, we will find Horned Serpents among top academics, including theorists, historians, and other scientists, not to mention those among the greatest of communicators, such as writers, orators, politicians, linguists, and actors.
Pukwudgie — Cups
The suit of emotions and intuition seems quite fitting for the House of the Heart. Emotions are our inner reactions to what may be happening in the outer world; they are a bridge between the two realms. This is also represented in the Cups’ relation to intuition — humanity’s innate ability to understand the world around us to some level without the need for conscious thought. The Cups’ imagery is at times the most fantastical of the suits, and the subjects are sometimes depicted doing something seemingly illogical, taking a leap of faith in hopes for better things to come. Pukwudgie is also the House of Healers, which makes great sense when one considers that all wellbeing is deeply connected; when one’s emotional health is poor, their physical health will be adversely affected, and vice versa.
The Cups also represent relationships and interconnectedness of every kind through their connection to the element of Water (after all, Water is necessary for every form of life on earth, and touches sea, earth, and sky in its ever-turning cycle, bridging the gap between the three worlds). The imagery of the Cups represents how our innermost feelings and intuition may affect our bonds with those around us — romance, friendships, family, and other partnerships. This also expands beyond inter-human relationships to our bond with the Earth itself.
It should be no surprise, then, to see Pukwudgies in every area focused on relationships, intuition, and mending broken things — healthcare, psychology, counseling, environmentalism, spirituality, hospitality, and diplomacy.
Thunderbird — Wands
The suit of Wands is the suit of passion and creativity, perfect for the House of Adventurers and the Soul. One may notice that much of its imagery revolves around merchants and fighters, which could be seen as the purview of Wampus; however, one must also remember that Thunderbirds above all else are those who take risks and set off to new places in search of excitement and adventure. Thunderbirds often feel a strong need for novelty, movement, progress, and expansion.
Wands also represent the element of Fire — interesting, perhaps, for a house whose mascot spends so much of its time in the air; on the other hand, what is lightning if not fire flashing in a storm? The Soul is complex and individualistic, and it desires to be known and to make itself known; there is a flame inside that demands to be let out so that it may shine. Thunderbirds often cannot help but try to make their mark on the world, whether for good or ill. The imagery of Wands is a reminder that fire can bring warmth and safety as well as chaos and pain. Strike a match and guide it to where it should go, and you bring light and life to even the most desperate; lose control, and you and those you love will get burned.
So, Thunderbirds may find themselves leaning towards fields in which they can best make a difference, make their mark, or find the necessary dynamism: the arts, teaching, activism, philosophy, entrepreneurship, innovation, and exploration.
Final Thoughts
As the reader may have noticed, there is overlap and nuance in what I have just described, as humans cannot be divided into neat boxes. Any vocation will find a strong foothold in any house. For example, a politician should be a scholar of philosophy and history, but they should also desire to heal people through the policies they write and support. A dancer certainly has great passion and creativity, but they are also grounded in their own body and the physical world around them.
There is something to be said too, about the interconnectedness of the Houses, the Tarot, and the wholeness of a human. Just as every House has overlap with all the others, every suit of the Tarot will bleed into the other suits, and every person has a body, mind, heart, and soul. We may tend to gravitate towards one part of ourselves, but we should not do so at the expense of the others.
Above all, remember the motto of Ilvermorny School: “As a family, united we stand.” Each member of the family is unique, and together we are stronger than we could ever be apart. Grow into who you are, and find the people who will support and uplift you and have strengths where you may not, and work together to make the world a better place.

The Practical Magic of Witchcraft Today
Forget the stereotypes of witches as cackling old crones or aloof, robe-wearing mystics chanting in candlelit rooms. Witchcraft in the modern era is as diverse as the people who practice it. Today’s witches are accountants, artists, baristas, engineers, parents, students, and everything in between. Some wear their witchy identity proudly on their sleeves, while others keep it quietly tucked into the corners of their lives, surfacing only when the moment calls for a touch of magic.
So, what does witchcraft look like today? Let’s dive into the practical, down-to-earth side of this ancient and evolving practice and explore how modern witches weave magic into their daily lives.
Everyday Magic: Spells for the Modern World
Witchcraft today isn’t about grand rituals (though those are still fabulous). Instead, it often takes the form of small, intentional acts that fit seamlessly into daily life. These acts of "everyday magic" can turn the mundane into the magical. Here are a few ways witches work their magic in practical ways:
Morning Rituals: Starting the day with an intention-setting spell, like charging your morning coffee or tea with energy for productivity, protection, or peace. Stir clockwise for positive vibes, counterclockwise to banish negativity. It’s like a magical espresso shot for your day.
Kitchen Witchcraft: Cooking isn’t just a chore; it’s an alchemical process. Modern kitchen witches infuse their meals with intention by using herbs and spices with magical correspondences. Basil for prosperity, cinnamon for love, and garlic to ward off negativity. Bonus: it also makes dinner extra tasty.
Green Witchcraft: Tending to plants becomes a spiritual practice for green witches, who see gardening as a way to connect with the earth. Houseplants are cared for not just for aesthetic reasons but also for their energetic properties—lavender for peace, aloe for healing, and ivy for resilience.
Charm Bags and Talismans: Many witches carry small charm bags filled with herbs, crystals, and symbols to attract luck, love, or protection. These little bundles can be tucked into a purse, pocket, or car for a magical boost on the go.
Everyday magic is about integrating spells and intentions into daily routines, reminding practitioners that magic isn’t confined to rituals—it’s everywhere, waiting to be tapped into.
Self-Care and Mental Health: The Magic of Mindfulness
Modern witchcraft has a strong focus on self-care, making it especially relevant in today’s fast-paced world. Rituals like cleansing baths, meditation, and journaling help witches stay grounded, centered, and emotionally balanced. Think of it as spiritual therapy, but with more candles and fewer awkward silences.
For instance:
Cleansing Baths: A warm bath infused with herbs, oils, and a sprinkle of salt can be a powerful way to wash away stress and negative energy. Lavender, chamomile, and rose are popular choices for relaxation.
Meditation with a Twist: Modern witches often incorporate visualization or mantra work into their meditations, focusing on specific goals or energies they want to bring into their lives. Instead of just "clearing your mind," you’re actively shaping your energy field.
Shadow Work: This modern buzzword is essentially self-reflection with a magical twist. Witches explore their subconscious, confront hidden fears or flaws, and embrace personal growth. Journals are often the tool of choice for documenting this journey, with prompts that delve into the dark and light sides of the psyche.
This blend of mindfulness and magic is one of the most transformative aspects of witchcraft today, offering practitioners tools to navigate life with clarity and purpose.
Eco-Witchcraft: Living in Harmony with Nature
Witches have long been associated with nature, and that connection is more important than ever in today’s world. With the growing focus on sustainability, eco-witchcraft has become a central theme for many modern practitioners.
Ethical Sourcing: Modern witches are becoming more conscious of where their tools come from. Crystals, for example, are a favorite magical tool, but many witches now prioritize ethically sourced stones to avoid contributing to environmental harm or exploitation.
Seasonal Living: Many witches align their lives with the rhythms of nature, celebrating the changing seasons through sabbats (seasonal festivals like Samhain, Yule, and Beltane). These festivals remind practitioners to honor the cycles of life, death, and renewal.
Activism as Magic: Today’s eco-witches combine their love of the environment with activism. Spellwork for environmental healing, rituals to protect endangered species, and even magical protests are all part of this growing movement.
Eco-witchcraft is about more than just practicing magic—it’s a lifestyle rooted in respect for the earth and a commitment to making the world a better place.
Crystals, Tarot, and Tools: The Staples of Modern Witchcraft
While traditional witches may have relied on cauldrons and broomsticks, today’s practitioners have an expanded toolkit of magical items. Here’s a glimpse into the modern witch’s arsenal:
Crystals: These sparkly stones are a staple in modern witchcraft. Amethyst for intuition, citrine for abundance, and black tourmaline for protection are some of the most popular choices. Whether used in grids, carried in pockets, or placed around the home, crystals are a go-to for channeling energy.
Tarot and Oracle Cards: Divination is a key practice for many witches. Tarot cards, with their rich symbolism and history, are a popular tool for gaining insight and clarity. Oracle cards, often more freeform and thematic, offer an alternative for those looking for a different vibe.
Candles: Candle magic is simple yet powerful. Each color corresponds to a specific intention—green for money, red for passion, white for cleansing. Lighting a candle becomes a sacred act, transforming a mundane flame into a beacon of magical energy.
Herbs and Oils: Modern witches still rely on nature’s pantry for their magic. Herbs like rosemary (protection), sage (cleansing), and chamomile (calm) are staples in many practices, while essential oils offer a more concentrated way to harness these properties.
These tools are often personalized to fit a witch’s unique path, proving that magic isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s as individual as the person practicing it.
Witchcraft as Empowerment: Embracing Your Inner Magic
Perhaps the most significant aspect of modern witchcraft is its focus on personal empowerment. At its core, witchcraft is about taking control of your life, channeling your energy, and manifesting your desires. It’s a practice that encourages self-discovery, self-expression, and self-love.
For many, witchcraft is also a way to reclaim power in a world that often feels overwhelming. It’s a reminder that we’re not helpless; we can shape our reality and influence the energies around us. Whether through spellwork, meditation, or activism, witchcraft gives practitioners the tools to take charge of their lives and embrace their inner magic.
Community and Connection: The New Witchcraft Renaissance
Modern witchcraft is thriving, thanks in part to the sense of community it fosters. Online or offline, witches are coming together to share knowledge, support each other, and celebrate their craft. From digital covens to local meetups, this sense of connection is one of the most powerful aspects of contemporary witchcraft.
In a world that often feels disconnected, witchcraft offers a way to reconnect—not just with others, but with nature, the universe, and oneself. It’s a practice that bridges the ancient and the modern, the mystical and the practical, proving that magic is alive and well in the 21st century.

Reading a Birth Chart 101: The Complete Guide,
Part 2: Every House Has its Own Smell
glossary: the planets, planet rulership over the signs, elements (water, fire, earth, air signs), modes (cardinal, fixed, mutable signs), the houses and interpretation basics

last time, we spoke about the sun, moon and rising in all the different signs. through this, we slowly started to build an understanding of the 12 zodiac signs and planets.
today, we will learn about all the planets you can encounter in a chart.
they are:
sun- father, ego, self
moon- mother, internal reactions to external events, emotions, processing
mercury- intellect, communication, verbal expression, outward expression
venus- love, beauty, art, pleasantries, attraction
mars- passion, drive, movement, anger
jupiter- expansion, growth, generosity, the good natured father
saturn- difficulties, perseverance, hard work, the disciplining father
uranus- sudden changes, reform, activism
neptune- collective consciousness, dreams, spirituality
pluto- transformation, rebirth, power
the 12 astrological signs are ruled by these planets:
aries, ruled by mars
tarus, ruled by venus
gemini, ruled by mercury
cancer, ruled by moon
leo, ruled by sun
virgo, ruled by mercury
libra, ruled by venus
scorpio, ruled by pluto/mars
sagittarius, ruled by jupiter
capricorn, ruled by saturn
aquarius, ruled by uranus
pisces, ruled by neptune
aside from being ruled by planets, the signs can be divided into elements and modes
elements of signs:
think of what you imagine when you hear fire, water, earth or air.
fire is warm, it can be a spark or a flame, it can burn houses down or light them up.
water is fluid, it flows or bends to fit in any container, it cleanses you but also rains on you.
earth is solid, you sow seeds into it and with time it gives you results, it gives you ground to walk on.
air is everywhere, sometimes it’s the wind that blows heavily or the slight breeze that cools you down, it comes and goes.
fire signs: aries, leo, sagittarius
earth signs: taurus, virgo, capricorn
air signs: gemini, libra, aquarius
water signs: cancer, scorpio, pisces
modes of signs:
cardinal- leadership, initiative, charge
fixed- routines, stable, stubborn
mutable- adaptive, curious, dual
cardinal signs: aries, cancer, libra, capricorn
fixed signs: taurus, leo, scorpio, aquarius
mutable signs: gemini, virgo, sagittarius, pisces

The Houses: Part 1- Angular Houses:
(a/n- there are different house systems in astrology (whole sign, placidus, etc. we will get into those later). currently we will be talking about the significance of houses and the energies the planets dispose to them)
for these next examples i will be using whole sign:
remember when we talked about the rising sign or the ascendant? in astrology that will be your first house- AC, the sign opposite to it will be your 7th house or your descendant- DC, the 4th house is your imum coeli and the 10th house is your medium coeli/midheaven
imagine that the house system is a story unfolding within yourself, coming into full circle, this is how it starts:
1st house- your disposition, how you are seen, the start of your being, appearance
2nd house- your face, self esteem, your possessions, your hidden talents
3rd house- your siblings, communication, learning styles, short term travel or short distance travel
4th house- the deepest part of your chart, your home life, sensitivities, what is familiar to you, nurture and mother
5th house- your childhood, creativity, inner child, playfulness, ego, self, romance
6th house- your routines, work environment, work ethic, surroundings, cleanliness, health
7th house- shadow self, how you are when you get comfortable with people, what you seek and how you behave with partners/ people.
8th house- deeper levels of intimacy, your secrets and desires, the transformations you go through in life, shared wealth
9th house- seeking higher knowledge, higher education, spirituality, philosophy, government, law, travel
10th house- career, public image, professional environment, fame, the highest point of ur chart
11th house- working together, collective revolution, social organizations, friendships
12th house- subconscious pain, esoteric experiences, spirituality, sleep, dreams, escapism

Putting it All Together:
what happens when you first enter someone’s home? it’s different. not what you are used to. sometimes it can seem familiar.
that’s how the planets work in the different houses.
reader, you have an understand of the 12 zodiac signs, the planets and the 12 houses. now it’s time to put it all together.
here is an exercise for you.
take any planet- for example, mars. think of what it stands for.
now think of all the twelve zodiac signs, imagine how they would act according to the action of the planet. how would the dreamy pisces behave in mars? or the balanced libra? it must be easy for the fiery aries, right?
now, imagine those planets in the houses. the fiery aries mars but it’s in the homely 4th house, the compromising libra mars but she is careful with her public image, since she resides in the 10th house
what about the emotional cancer? how does she love? and if her love is in the 9th house is it emotional bonding through spiritual healing?
congrats, you have learnt the first few steps of intuitively reading a chart. you will get the hang of it!
i suggest reading blogs and posts like “venus in the houses” “pluto in the signs” or even the astro notes/observations here in the community. now that you have a basic understanding, you can further extend your knowledge!
good luck on ur reader journey, see u soon! 🤍

Learning Self Worth 🌿
A post about Self Health
•
When we have a knack to hold experience after experience that every time we're shown kindness, given attention, shown a feigned sense of empathy, handed flowers and it burns to the ground,. We come to one of two conclusions. It was our fault, or it was theirs., and after a point, whichever or both, you grow a lack of trust. In your judgment, in your willingness to try again and experience that familiar hurt. That sting. That Stab.
Wanna know why it hurts? You wouldn't have done it to them like that, or not as knowingly without change.
Pain is pain. To love is to be vulnerable. You can not have it genuine without both those and this truth. Even the right fit will make mistakes.
The point is, we are all ALWAYS learning. Always. No matter whether we wait for the right algorithm in a pause as the world continues around us or we go with a pace to maintain as the blood flows. Don't let what happened at that time and that time and that time stop you from experiencing today how you want, need, and deserve. Today isn't that time. You never ever ever have to go back to that time or that time..
Today is your time, and you Can discover new times with someone you deserve. Someone who is patient with your heart. Someone who doesn't see the big picture after it's gone because they're celebrating all of it in the very real excitement and sometimes struggle to balance that within the Now. With you in the Now.
There is so much beauty in the world.
Like Beaches? Humans go there.
Like Nature and Parks? Humans go there.
Like Bookstores and Libraries? Humans go there.
Sure, youll have your crabgrass laden field time and again,. Don't give up chasing those wildflower hills. The open skies. The laughter. The whimsy. The love of love.
Don't give up on your heart because someone else couldn't hold it right. Take the time you need to evaluate how you want it held now, and take the time you need with someone to discover their intentions and efforts to match. If they can't wait, if they can't do the time to LEARN and find the things about you that make you brilliant in YOUR eyes., if they can't take the time to appreciate what makes you you, or for you to have time seeing them for who they are, Really Who they are.. Let them go have less somewhere else. They aren't ready for you. Not the other way around. Small morals don't lead big dreams. Small excuses will never set sail to the ocean of big possibilities.
Your Pace Is Your Own, but Set One.
Even if that means you're not into dating again, even if that means you're not into Boys™️ again.
Even if you decide to wait x time before you feel you've allowed yourself adequate time to be okay for you and prioritize you and get back to you, before even considering another Dip into that big ocean.. just do what makes you feel Happy. You deserve that. At the end of every day. With or without someone.
You deserve to be Happy. Because you Do.
No excuses about back when, not deserving..this and that..no.
Today is today, and you are still Living Organic Matter. That deserves peace, sunlight, hydration, a chance to journal to the moon in night,. The right PH in the soil of your planted surroundings.
You deserve that, because painful as summer was, then,. In scortching your earth and wilting your leaves.. fall is upon you,. A chance to shake off and drop all the weight of those things,. Let them fall as leaves do to the ground and fertilize the life again after frost has thawed and melted in. Give the warmth a chance to hold your shimmer a while., to see it feed your roots.
Breathe. Today, you're here for you. 🌿

Full Name: Yvonea
Species: Revenant/Earth Elemental Hybrid
Age: Appears late 20s (actual age unknown)
Realm: Outworld (formerly Edenian grove exile)
Affiliation: Independent (formerly aligned with Outworld Royal Court)
Role: Assassin • Botanomancer • Spirit of the Verdant Blight
Appearance
Yvonea bears the appearance of a deadly nymph forged by nature itself.
• Skin: Pale with a faint olive-green cast; smooth with subtle, natural-looking vein-like markings that glow faintly when her power surges.
• Eyes: Vivid, unnatural mossy green with slit pupils like a serpent’s or flower’s core.
• Hair: Flowing, dark crimson-rose waves with subtle green streaks, like blood on leaves. Often adorned with thorns or budding blooms woven into strands.
• Build: Feminine hourglass; sleek, strong, with a graceful and serpentine movement style.
• Attire: Her outfit is made from organic, plant-like materials:
• A tight-fitting, living bodysuit of leaves, petals, and vines clinging like armor across her chest and legs.
• High-cut, asymmetrical sides, thigh-high leaf-wrapped boots, and an open back with vines snaking along her spine.
• Thorned vambraces, and a collar of blooming black roses.
• Signature Detail: A blossomed flower in her sternum blooms and wilts in rhythm with her powers.
Personality
• Core Traits: Seductive • Calculating • Mournful • Coldly Compassionate
• Yvonea is a creature of emotion tempered by nature’s cruelty. She speaks softly but with deadly clarity, often poetic and eerily serene in tone.
• She harbors resentment for mortal kingdoms that defiled her sacred groves, but she protects the innocent if they show reverence.
• Despite her calm exterior, she’s vengeful — especially toward deforesters, tyrants, and sorcerers who seek control over life.
• Relationship Dynamics: She has a mysterious, magnetic allure. She unnerves even Outworlders like Mileena and Rain, but oddly, animals and elementalists trust her.
Abilities
Combat Style: Botanical Assassin | Agile & Precise | Trap-Oriented
Primary Abilities
1. Verdant Grasp – Vines shoot from the ground to grab or slam opponents.
2. Venom Kiss – A blow that injects a deadly spore, causing staggered damage.
3. Thorn Burst – Unleashes an AoE ring of razor-thorns around her body.
4. Petal Step (Teleport) – Melts into a whirlwind of petals and reappears mid-combo or behind opponents.
5. Seed of Ruin (Counter) – Absorbs a hit and plants a spore bomb on the attacker.
Passive Traits
• Regeneration from Soil – Slight health regeneration while standing on natural terrain.
• Pheromone Presence – Weakens opponents’ guard temporarily after close contact.
Fatalities
1. “Garden of Agony”
Yvonea kisses the enemy on the lips — a vine roots into their mouth, exploding with growth as flowers erupt violently from their eyes, chest, and throat. Their body collapses into a grotesque bouquet before wilting.
2. “Thorn Bloom”
She summons thorned vines from below that pull the opponent’s limbs in opposite directions, stretching them until their body splits. A large thorned rose blooms from the remains, which she plucks and sniffs before dropping it.
Brutality (Example)
“Fertile Soil”
After a combo-ending kick, Yvonea causes the opponent’s body to decompose into vines and mushrooms while she turns away and murmurs, “Ash to ash.”
Backstory
Yvonea was once the spirit guardian of Edenia’s hidden Grove of Stillroots, a neutral territory protected by ancient elemental rites. But after Edenia’s fall and multiple conquests by Outworld and Earthrealm, her grove was desecrated. Seeking vengeance and balance, Yvonea was resurrected by nature’s will itself—half elemental, half revenant.
Now, she walks between realms, neither fully alive nor dead, restoring nature’s order with bloody, botanical vengeance. She answers to no king or empress, though she has occasionally allied with Sindel for strategic reasons. Her true loyalty is to life itself… and its terrifying power to reclaim all.

Unpopular Opinion-The AHS Seasons Descend Through the Circles of Hell In Order
Murder House is obviously limbo. The souls can’t move on, they’re trapped in an entrance to hell.
Asylum is often labeled as fraud for the hidden identity element but actually the second circle of hell is characterized by storms like the one from Nor’Easter. Everybody is there because of some kind of lust, whether it’s Lana for women or Arden for Mary Eunice, or Timothy Howard for power.
Coven could easily fit the bill for greed. The cold mud that characterizes the third circle is actually represented by the characters who are continually dying & being brought back, into the cold ground as it were.
Freak Show is clearly about greed & exploitation. The souls of one side battle another in contests, in this case the freaks versus the town of Jupiter & social attitudes.
Hotel is about Wrath. John Lowe is trying to enact god’s wrath on earth. Alex is angry at John for losing Holden. Sally is angry at Iris, Iris is angry at Sally & Elizabeth. The souls in the sixth circle bite one another which is why the theme is vampires.
Roanoke is about Heresy, the colonists turned from their puritanical beliefs to worship the pagan gods of Scathatch. They had little choice due to hunger & violence but now they can’t move on just like the sixth circle.
Cult is the 7th circle of violence. Violence against thy neighbors, the cast is literally neighbors. Violence against thy self like the women working against their own health & safety to be part of this cult & also the common thread of cults & suicide. There’s also against god, art, nature which is seen in things like “sodomites”.
Apocalypse is the 8th circle exemplified through Michael who has horrible impostor syndrome about being the anti christ & his foil Cordelia who has the same doubts about her role as Supreme. The whole plot is actually a false premise that starts out appearing to be survivors in a shelter before jumping to Coven. There’s also Mallory pretending to be a normal college girl when in reality she’s the next Supreme.
1984 is circle nine, camp redwood & the lake are a stand in for the frozen lake from the bottom of hell. So it’s a lake frozen in time, due to an event that occurred there. There’s ongoing back stabbing, they’re betrayed by Leslie Grossman or Billie Lourd, that’s the theme.
It’s easy to confuse these elements unless you also take into account the punishments for each sin. Like literally Shelly looses her life due to Arden attacking her during a storm. Or know the lay out & can recognize the lake.
So it’s just going right down the list.

Man’s Own Character No Ground of Peace

by Horatius Bonar
If God testify against us, who can testify for us? If God’s opinion of man’s sinfulness, his judgment of man’s guilt, and his declaration of sin’s evil be so very decided, there can be no hope of acquittal for us on the ground of personal character of goodness, either of heart or life. That which God sees in us furnishes only matter for condemnation, not for pardon.
It is vain to struggle or murmur against God’s judgment. He is the Judge of all the earth; and he is right as well as sovereign in his judgment. He must be obeyed; his law in inexorable; it cannot be broken without making the breaker of it (even in one jot or tittle) worthy of death.
When the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of the soul it sees this. Conviction of sin is just the sinner seeing himself as he is, and as God has all along seen him. Then every fond idea of self-goodness, either in whole or in part, vanishes away. The things in him that once seemed good appear so bad, and the bad things so very bad, that every self-prop falls from beneath him, and all hope of being saved, in consequence of something in his own character, is then taken away. He sees that he cannot save himself; nor help God to save him. He is lost, and he is helpless. Doings, feelings, strivings, prayings, givings, abstainings, and the life, are found to be no relief from a sense of guilt, and, therefore, no resting-place for a troubled heart. If sin were but a disease or a misfortune, these apparent good things might relieve him, as being favorable symptoms of returning health; but when sin is guilt even more than disease; and when the sinner is not merely sick, but condemned by the righteous Judge; then none of these goodnesses in himself can reach his case, for they cannot assure him of a complete and righteous pardon, and, therefore, cannot pacify his roused and wounded conscience.
He sees God’s unchangeable hatred of sin, and the coming revelation of his wrath against the sinner; and he cannot but tremble. An old writer thus describes his own case; “I had a deep impression of the things of God; a natural condition and sin appeared worse than hell itself; the world and vanities thereof terrible and exceeding dangerous; it was fearful to have ado with it, or to be rich; I saw its day coming; Scripture expressions were weighty; a Saviour was a big thing in mine eyes; Christ’s agonies were earnest with me; I thought that all my days I was in a dream till now, or like a child in jest; and I thought the world was sleeping.”
The question, “Wherewith shall I come before the Lord?” is not one which can be decided by an appeal to personal character, or goodness of life, or prayers, or performances of religion. The way of approach is not for us to settle. God has settled it; and it only remains for us to avail ourselves of it. He has fixed it on grounds altogether irrespective of our character; or rather on grounds which take for granted simply that we are sinners, and that therefore the element of goodness in us, as a title, or warrant, or recommendation, is altogether inadmissible, either in whole or in part.
To say, as some inquiring ones do at the outset of their anxiety, I will set myself to pray, and after I have prayed a sufficient length of time, and with tolerable earnestness, I may approach and count upon acceptance, is not only to build upon the quality and quantity of our prayers, but is to overlook the real question before the sinner, “How am I to approach God in order to pray?” All prayers are approaches to God, and the sinner’s anxious question is, “How may I approach God?” God’s explicit testimony to man is, “You are unfit to approach me;” and it is a denial of the testimony to say, “I will pray myself out of this unfitness into fitness; I will work myself into a right state of mind and character for drawing near to God.” Anxious spirit! Were you from this moment to cease from sin, and do nothing but good all the rest of your life, it would not do. Were you to begin praying now, and do nothing else but pray all your days, it would not do! Your own character cannot be your way of approach, nor your ground of confidence toward God. No amount of praying, or working, or feeling, can satisfy the righteous law, or pacify a guilty conscience, or quench the flaming sword that guards the access into the presence of the infinitely Holy One.
That which makes it safe for you to draw near to God, and right for God to receive you, must be something altogether away from and independent of yourself; for, yourself and everything pertaining to yourself God has already condemned; and no condemned thing can give you any warrant for going to him, or hoping for acceptance. Your liberty of entrance must come from something which he has accepted; not from something which he has condemned.
I knew an awakened soul who, in the bitterness of his spirit, thus set himself to work and pray in order to get peace. He doubled the amount of his devotions, saying to himself, “Surely God will give me peace.” But the peace did not come. He set up family worship, saying, “Surely God will give me peace.” But the peace came not. At last he bethought himself of having a prayer meeting in his house as a certain remedy. He fixed the night; called his neighbors; and prepared himself for conducting the meeting, by writing a prayer and learning it by heart. As he finished the operation of learning it, preparatory to the meeting, he threw it down on the table saying, “Surely that will do, God will give me peace now.” In that moment, a still small voice seemed to speak in his ear, saying, “No, that will not do; but Christ will do.” Straightway the scales fell from his eyes, and the burden from his shoulders. Peace poured in like a river. “Christ will do,” was his watchword for life.
Very clear is God’s testimony against man, and man’s doings, in this great matter of approach and acceptance. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done,” says Paul in one place (Titus iii.5), and “to him that worketh not,” says he in a second (Rom. iv.4); “not justified by the works of the law,” say he in a third (Gal. ii.16).
The sinner’s peace with God is not to come from his own character. No grounds of peace or elements of reconciliation can be extracted from himself, either directly or indirectly. His one qualification for peace is, that he needs it. It is not what he has, but what he lacks of good that draws him to God; and it is the conscienceness of his lack that bids him look elsewhere, for something both to invite and embolden him to approach. It is our sickness, not our health, that fits us for the physician, and casts us upon his skill.
No guilty conscience can be pacified with anything short of that which will make pardon a present, a sure, and a righteous thing. Can our best doings, our best feelings, our best prayers, our best sacrifices, bring this about? Nay; having accumulated these to the utmost, does not the sinner feel that pardon is just as far off and uncertain as before? and that all his earnestness cannot persuade God to admit him to favor, or bride his own conscience into true quiet even for an hour?
In all false religion, the worshipper rests his hope of divine favor upon something in his own character, or life, or religious duties. The Pharisee did this when he came into the temple, “thanking God that he was not as other men” (Luke xviii.11). So do those in our day who think to get peace by doing, feeling, and praying more than others, or than they themselves have done in time past; and who refuse to take the peace of the free gospel till they have amassed such an amount of this doing and feeling as will ease their consciences, and make them conclude that it would not be fair in God to reject the application of men so earnest and devout as they. The Galatians did this also when they insisted on adding the law of Moses to the gospel of Christ as the ground of confidence toward God. Thus do many act among ourselves. They will not take confidence from God’s character or Christ’s work, but from their own character and work; though in reference to all this it is written, “The Lord hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them” (Jer. ii.37). They object to a present confidence, for that assumes that a sinner’s resting place is wholly out of himself, - ready-made, as it were, by God. They would have this confidence to be a very gradual thing, in order that they may gain time, and, by a little diligence in religious observances, may so add to their stock of duties, prayers, experiences, devotions, that they may, with some humble hope, as they call it, claim acceptance from God. By this course of devout living they think they have made themselves more acceptable to God than they were before they began this religious process, and much more entitled to expect the divine favor than those who have not so qualified themselves. In all this the attempted resting-place is self, - that self which God has condemned. They would not rest upon unpraying, or unworking, or undevout self; but they think it right and safe to rest upon praying, and working, and devout self, and they call this humility! The happy confidence of the simple believer who takes God’s word at once, and rests on it, they call presumption or fanaticism; their own miserable uncertainty, extracted from the doings of self, they speak of as a humble hope.
The sinner’s own character, in any form, and under any process of improvement, cannot furnish reasons for trusting God. However amended, it cannot speak peace to his conscience, nor afford him any warrant for reckoning on God’s favor; nor can it help to heal the breach between him and God. For God can accept nothing but perfection in such a case, and the sinner has nothing but imperfection to present. Imperfect duties and devotions cannot persuade God to forgive. Besides, be it remembered that the person of the worshipper must be accepted before his services can be acceptable; so that nothing can be of any use to the sinner save that which provides for personal acceptance completely, and at the outset. The sinner must go to God as he is, or not at all. To try to pray himself into something better than a condemned sinner, in order to win God’s favor, is to make prayer an instrument of self-righteousness; so that, instead of its being the act of an accepted man, it is the purchase of acceptance, - the price which we pay to God for favoring us, and the bribe with which we persuade conscience no longer to trouble us with its terrors. No knowledge of self, nor consciousness of improvement of self, can soothe the alarms of an awakened conscience, or be any ground for expecting the friendship of God. To take comfort from our good doings, or good feelings, or good plans, or good prayers, or good experiences, is to delude ourselves, and to say peace when there is no peace. No man can quench his thirst with sand, or with water from the Dead Sea; so no man can find rest from his own character however good, or from his own acts however religious. Even were he perfect, what enjoyment could there be in thinking about his own perfection? What profit, then, can there be in thinking about his own imperfection?
Even were there many good things about him, they could not speak peace: for the good things which might speak peace, could not make up for the evil things which speak trouble; and what a poor, self-made peace would that be which arose from his thinking as much good and as little evil of himself as possible. And what a temptation, besides, would this furnish, to extenuate the evil and exaggerate the good about ourselves, - in other words, to deceive our own hearts. Self-deception must always, more or less, be the result of such estimates of our own experiences. Laid open, as we are, in such a case, to all manner of self-blinding influences, it is impossible that we can be impartial judges, or that we can be “without guile” (Psa. xxxii.2), as in the case of those who are freely and at once forgiven.
One man might say, “My sins are not very great or many; surely I may take peace.” Another might say, “I have made up for my sins by my good deeds; I may have peace.” Another might say, “I have a very deep sense of sin; I may have peace.” Another might say, “I have repented of my sin; I may have peace.” Another might say, “I pray much, I work much, I love much, I give much; I may have peace.” What temptation in all this to take the most favorable view of self and its doings! But, after all, it would be vain. There could be no real peace; for its foundation would be sand, not rock. The peace or confidence which comes from summing up the good points of our character, and thinking of our good feelings and doings, or about our faith, and love, and repentance, must be made up of pride. Its basis is self-righteousness, or at least self-approbation.
It does not mend the matter to say that we look at these good feelings in us, as the Spirit’s work, not our own. In one aspect this takes away boasting, but in another it does not. It still makes our peace to turn upon what is in ourselves, and not on what is in God. Nay, it makes use of the Holy Spirit for purposes of self-righteousness. It says that the Spirit works the change in us, in order that he may thereby furnish us with a ground of peace within ourselves.
No doubt the Spirit’s work in us must be accompanied with peace; but not because he has given us something in ourselves to draw our peace from. It is that kind of peace which arises unconsciously from the restoration of spiritual health; but not that which Scripture calls “peace with God.” It does not arise from thinking about the change wrought in us, but unconsciously and involuntarily from the change itself. If a broken limb be made whole, we get relief straightway; not by “thinking about the healed member, but simply in the bodily case and comfort which the cure has given. So there is a peace arising out of the change of nature and character wrought by the Spirit; but this is not reconciliation with God. This is not the peace which the knowledge of forgiveness brings. It accompanies it, and flows from it, but the two kinds of peace are quite distinct from each other. Nor does even the peace which attends restoration of spiritual health come at second hand, from thinking about our change; but directly from the change itself. That change is the soul’s new health, and this health is in itself a continual gladness.
Still it remains true, that in ourselves we have no resting place. “No confidence in the flesh” must be our motto, as it is the foundation of God’s gospel.

Early morning light filters through a quiet studio as calm breathing fills the space. A practitioner flows effortlessly through their poses, grounded and supported by sustainable equipment. This serene image captures the essence of modern wellness a holistic focus on physical strength, mental clarity, and environmental harmony. As yoga and Pilates continue to grow in popularity, so does the demand for conscious, high-quality gear. This article explores the benefits of choosing sustainable Yoga & Pilates Supplies Online and the role of mindful materials in enhancing one’s wellness journey.
The Growth of Online Wellness Tools
The digital era has transformed how people access wellness products, making it easier to find curated Yoga & Pilates Supplies Online. From mats and blocks to straps and apparel, an online shopping experience allows individuals to select equipment that fits both their personal needs and values. For beginners and experienced practitioners alike, online access eliminates geographical limitations and provides a wide array of options with detailed product information. These platforms often emphasize ethical sourcing, material transparency, and customer education, aligning with the values of health-conscious consumers.
Why Conscious Gear Makes a Difference
Choosing the right tools for yoga or Pilates goes beyond comfort it involves intention. Consumers purchasing Yoga & Pilates Supplies Online now often seek eco-friendly materials, ethical manufacturing, and long-lasting quality. Durable, non-toxic equipment not only ensures better performance but also contributes to a healthier planet. As daily practice deepens, users benefit from gear that supports proper alignment, provides stability, and complements the body’s natural movements. Sustainability in wellness is no longer just a trend; it is an integral part of how individuals engage with physical and spiritual routines.
The Rise of Sustainable Yoga Mats
In the evolving landscape of wellness products, the Organic Cork Rubber Yoga Mat stands out for its functionality and eco-conscious design. These mats combine natural cork, known for its antimicrobial properties, with rubber that offers a non-slip foundation. The result is a mat that supports balance, reduces environmental impact, and maintains hygiene. Practitioners benefit from a surface that enhances grip even during intense sessions, making it ideal for both yoga and Pilates. This shift toward sustainable choices demonstrates a collective movement toward aligning health practices with earth-friendly living.
Durability and Design in Everyday Practice
A key reason many practitioners invest in an Organic Cork Rubber Yoga Mat is its exceptional durability and comfort. The mat resists wear even with regular use and provides the cushioning needed to protect joints during floor-based exercises. Its design also reflects a clean, minimal aesthetic that fits well into both home and studio settings. Users appreciate that this material remains firm under pressure, unlike foam alternatives that may lose shape over time. By combining performance with sustainability, these mats represent the intersection of mindful living and functional design.
Integrating Wellness into Daily Life
Wellness is most effective when it becomes a consistent part of life. By selecting the right supplies and creating a dedicated practice space, individuals can build routines that support long-term physical and mental balance. Whether attending virtual classes or practicing solo, the right environment enhances motivation and comfort. High-quality gear like an Organic Cork Rubber Yoga Mat ensures that practitioners stay safe and grounded throughout their sessions. Consistency, supported by thoughtful choices in equipment, reinforces personal goals and fosters a deeper connection between mind, body, and surroundings.
The Role of Materials in Personal Health
The type of materials used in wellness gear can significantly affect user experience and health. Products containing harmful chemicals or synthetic fillers may irritate the skin or release toxins during use. By contrast, organic and natural materials reduce the risk of exposure and promote a cleaner practice. This is especially important for people with sensitivities or allergies. Investing in responsible products is not just about environmental impact; it’s also a proactive approach to self-care. Consumers are becoming more informed, prioritizing products that align with both personal and planetary wellness.
A Sustainable Future for Wellness Practices
As more people incorporate yoga and Pilates into their routines, the demand for responsibly made products continues to rise. Companies offering eco-conscious Yoga & Pilates Supplies Online play a vital role in shaping the future of the wellness industry. Their focus on ethical sourcing, biodegradable packaging, and renewable materials supports a cycle of health that extends beyond individual use. This movement reflects a broader awareness of how daily choices affect both personal well-being and global ecosystems, creating a more sustainable foundation for future generations of practitioners.

Why Hiking is the Perfect Mind-Body Workout
Hiking is more than just a stroll through nature; it is an exceptional exercise that benefits both the body and mind. Whether trekking through forest trails, scaling mountain peaks, or walking along a coastal path, hiking offers many health benefits. From enhancing physical fitness to boosting mental clarity, hiking provides a full-body workout while offering the chance to connect with nature. This article will explore why hiking is the ultimate mind-body workout.
Physical Health Benefits of Hiking
One of the primary reasons people embrace hiking is the physical health benefits it provides. Hiking is a weight-bearing exercise that engages various muscles and joints, helping improve endurance, strength, and overall cardiovascular health. Regular hiking can significantly improve aerobic capacity and lower the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.
As you hike, your body engages lower and upper body muscles. With each step, your legs, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes, work together to propel you forward. If navigating rocky terrain or steep inclines, you’ll activate your core and stabilizing muscles. This makes hiking a full-body workout that helps tone muscles and build strength over time. Walking on varied terrains can also challenge your balance and coordination, enhancing your stability and posture.
Mental and Emotional Well-Being
While the physical benefits of hiking are well-known, its impact on mental and emotional health is equally significant. Nature has a calming effect on the mind, and hiking in the great outdoors provides an escape from the stresses of daily life. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can reduce cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress, leading to an overall sense of relaxation and well-being.
In addition to reducing stress, hiking has been shown to improve mood and alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. The combination of physical exercise and natural surroundings can trigger the release of endorphins, the body’s "feel-good" chemicals. These endorphins help enhance mood, boost self-esteem, and create a sense of accomplishment. Whether hiking solo for some introspection or sharing the experience with friends, hiking provides an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life, allowing your mind to reset and recharge.
Connection to Nature
Hiking offers a unique way to connect with nature. Unlike a visit to a park or a brief walk around the block, hiking takes you deep into natural environments where you can observe wildlife, enjoy beautiful landscapes, and appreciate the simple wonders of the world around you. This connection to nature can be deeply grounding, fostering a sense of awe and appreciation for the planet.
Nature walks provide more than just scenic views—they also offer sensory experiences that engage all the senses. The sounds of birds chirping, the smell of pine trees or fresh grass, and the feel of the earth beneath your feet can help reduce mental fatigue and improve your connection to the present moment. For many people, hiking provides the perfect opportunity to practice mindfulness, staying focused on the sights, sounds, and sensations around them while leaving behind distractions.
Social Interaction and Connection
Hiking can also be a social activity, making it an excellent way to spend time with family, friends, or even strangers who share a love for the outdoors. Whether it’s a weekend hike with loved ones or joining a hiking group, the social benefits of hiking cannot be overstated. Hiking fosters connection, communication, and shared experiences that strengthen relationships and create lasting memories.
For those who enjoy hiking alone, the solitude can offer its own set of rewards. It provides time for personal reflection, introspection, and mental clarity. Whether in the company of others or hiking solo, being outdoors offers a valuable opportunity to step away from screens, distractions, and daily life stressors, allowing you to engage in meaningful conversations or connect with yourself on a deeper level.
Boosts Creativity and Problem-Solving Skills
Another unique benefit of hiking is its ability to boost creativity and improve problem-solving skills. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can improve cognitive function and greater creativity. The quiet and peaceful environment encourages the brain to think more clearly, fostering fresh ideas and innovative thinking.
When hiking, physical exertion and exposure to natural surroundings often stimulate the brain, allowing for improved focus and creativity. Whether walking to clear your head or to get away from the pressures of work, many people find that the time spent on the trail sparks new ideas or solutions to problems that had previously seemed insurmountable. The slower pace of hiking allows for reflection, enabling you to process ideas and thoughts that may have been overlooked in the rush of daily life.
Improves Sleep Quality
Many individuals struggle with getting restful sleep due to stress, anxiety, or poor sleep habits. Hiking can be a natural remedy, helping to improve sleep quality and duration. Combining physical exercise, fresh air, and exposure to natural light during a hike helps regulate the body's circadian rhythms, which are crucial for sleep regulation.
By spending time in nature and engaging in moderate physical activity, your body experiences a reduction in stress and mental fatigue, leading to better sleep at night. Hiking also helps tire out the body healthily, promoting more profound and more restful sleep. Additionally, walking outdoors exposes you to natural sunlight, allowing the body to produce more melatonin, a hormone supporting healthy sleep cycles.
Flexibility and Adaptability
Hiking is a versatile activity tailored to different fitness levels and preferences. Whether you're new to hiking or an experienced trekker, trails are suited to every skill level. From short, easy nature walks to challenging mountain hikes, the beauty of hiking lies in its adaptability. You can choose the difficulty level, duration, and terrain type based on your goals and fitness level.
Additionally, hiking can be done year-round, with different seasons offering unique opportunities to experience nature in various ways. In the spring and summer, hiking allows you to enjoy lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers, while fall brings crisp air and colorful autumn foliage. Winter hiking provides a different perspective, where snow-covered trails and frosty landscapes create a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Hiking is the ultimate mind-body workout that goes beyond just physical exercise. It provides a comprehensive health experience that enhances physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance. Whether seeking to improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress, or simply spend time in nature, hiking offers many benefits for individuals of all fitness levels. By connecting with nature, boosting creativity, and fostering personal and social connections, hiking provides an opportunity to grow, reflect, and rejuvenate body and mind. So, grab your gear, hit the trails, and experience the transformative power of hiking for yourself!

Why Barefoot Shoes Are Changing the Way We Move
Over the past decade, there has been a growing interest in returning to more natural ways of living — eating whole foods, spending more time outdoors, and rethinking how we move. One important part of this conversation is footwear. Specifically: barefoot shoes.
At first glance, barefoot shoes might seem unusual — minimal soles, wide toe boxes, and almost no padding. However, these design choices are intentional and based on how the human body evolved to move.
What Are Barefoot Shoes?
Barefoot shoes are a type of minimalist footwear that allows your feet to move and function more naturally, similar to being barefoot, but with protection from the environment.
Key features include:
Zero-drop soles: No raised heel, which promotes better posture and alignment.
Thin, flexible soles: Let your feet feel and respond to the ground.
Wide toe boxes: Allow toes to spread, grip, and stabilize.
Minimal cushioning: Encourages the body to use its natural shock absorption (muscles, ligaments, joints).
The idea isn’t to go without support entirely, but to remove unnecessary constraints so the foot can operate as it’s designed to.
Why Consider Barefoot Shoes?
1. Foot Function and Strength
Conventional shoes often support the foot to the point of weakening it. Arch supports, narrow toe boxes, and cushioned soles can lead to underuse of foot muscles. Over time, this may contribute to issues like plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or poor balance.
Barefoot shoes encourage natural use of these muscles. As a result, many users report stronger feet, better arch integrity, and improved balance over time.
2. Joint Alignment and Posture
Raised heels shift your center of gravity forward, altering your natural posture. This can put extra strain on the knees, hips, and lower back. Barefoot shoes, with their zero-drop design, promote a more upright and neutral posture.
3. Proprioception and Ground Feel
One overlooked benefit of barefoot shoes is the increased sensory feedback. When your feet can feel the texture of the ground, your brain receives more information about your environment. This boosts balance, coordination, and stability — especially important as we age.
Are Barefoot Shoes Right for Everyone?
Not necessarily. While many people benefit from the transition, it’s not always a quick or easy change. If your feet have been in structured shoes for most of your life, the muscles and tissues may need time to adapt.
Tips for transitioning:
Start slow: Begin with short walks or indoor use.
Strengthen feet: Incorporate exercises like toe spreads, calf raises, and barefoot standing.
Listen to discomfort: Soreness can be part of the adjustment, but sharp pain is a signal to slow down.
It’s also worth noting that some individuals with specific medical conditions may need guidance from a healthcare professional before making the switch.
The Bigger Picture: Reconnecting with Natural Movement
Wearing barefoot shoes isn’t just about changing footwear — it’s about rethinking how we interact with the world. Our feet evolved to move on natural terrain, to feel the ground, and to guide our bodies through a full range of motion.
Barefoot shoes create space for that kind of movement again, not by doing more, but by doing less — removing interference so the body can function as designed.
If you’re exploring barefoot shoes, look for quality materials, proper fit, and brands that prioritize both foot health and environmental responsibility. Groundz, for example, incorporates grounding principles and natural materials, which can add another layer of connection between the body and the Earth.
Final Thoughts
Barefoot shoes aren’t a trend — they’re a return to something more fundamental. As with any meaningful change, the shift requires awareness, patience, and a willingness to listen to your body. But for many, the results speak for themselves: stronger feet, improved posture, and a deeper sense of connection — both to the ground and to one’s movement.

Vastu Shastra for home is a historic Indian science that focuses on designing living spaces to promote defined power, peace, and prosperity. Rooted in the alignment of natural factors and cosmic principles, it offers guidance on the proper placement of rooms, entrances, and utilities to ensure stability in daily life. In today’s rapid-paced international environment, adopting Vastu Shastra for home has become more vital than ever to create a tranquil and lively environment.
Why Vastu Shastra for Home Matters
Vastu Shastra for home ensures that each corner of the house contributes positively to the well-being of its occupants. It helps in channeling herbal forces like daylight, wind, and magnetic fields, which are vital for mental readability, physical health, and emotional stability.
A Vastu-compliant home regularly experiences improved relationships, economic stability, and overall happiness. By following its points and guidelines, owners can reduce negativity and increase harmony in everyday life.
Vastu Tips for Main Entrance and Rooms
The main front is considered the gateway for strength and energy. According to Vastu Shastra for home:
Main Door: Should preferably face north, east, or northeast. Avoid entrances facing the southwest.
Living Room: Best positioned in the east or north direction to acquire adequate natural mild.
Kitchen: Should be in the southeast path, governed by the element of hearth.
Bedroom: Master bedrooms are considered best in the southwest direction, at the same time as youngsters' and children's rooms may be inside the west or northwest.
Bathroom: Ideally positioned within the northwest or southeast direction, however, they do not have to share a wall with the kitchen or mandir.
Role of Colors and Materials in Vastu
Colors play a key role in improving Vastu Shastra for home. Use mild sun shades like cream, mild blue, and white to attract peace and serenity. Natural materials, together with wood and stone, bring grounding energy, making the home experience extra rooted and secure.
Avoid dark sunglasses in bedrooms or purple in meditation rooms, as they could disturb the natural stability and peace of the space.
The Importance of the Panch Tatva in Vastu
The concept of panch tatva — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space — is the foundation of Vastu Shastra for domestic. Each path in a domestic corresponds to one of these five factors. Ensuring that these factors are balanced facilitates preserving the herbal flow of electricity.
Earth (Prithvi): Governs stability; aligned with the southwest.
Water (Jal): Linked to the northeast, symbolizing clarity and purity.
Fire (Agni): Southeast; fuels ardour and power.
Air (Vayu): Northwest; drives movement and communication.
Space (Akash): Center of the house; represents openness and attention.
Balancing these elements through placement, shade, and design creates a holistic and nourishing environment. Ignoring them can bring about power imbalances, main to strain and fitness issues.
