I find it so funny that the whole "enemy possesses your friend and forces protag to fight them because the protag doesn't want to hurt them" trope would NEVER work with fairy tail

My Headcanons with 100yq
Let me start by saying I love fairy tail. It was my first shounen anime that I sought out on my own. (One piece, Naruto, and Bleach just came on when I was little and watching toonami). It is, to this day, one of my favorite shows of all time with Lucy Heartfilia being one of my favorite characters of all time.
So, on to the headcanons.
Lucy and Natsu have an undefined relationship. They call each other their partner and let people take it how they will because they don't even know. Their relationship is so much more than being in love or working together. They would die for the other and pull the other back from the brink of insanity. How can you label that? They have a blind trust in the other and that's all that matters.
Wendy has received some lasting effects from being trapped for 7 years and that's why it appears she hasn't grown much despite being the age for multiple growth spurts to have hit. Her body being in hibernation for so long has left her stunted almost. She's the only one who is was a young child when it happened and is the only one who looks relatively the same after all that time.
It also doesn't help now that she has the power of Irene in her body now as well. That much power isn't helping her at all either. Most of her energy goes to keeping her power in check, not allowing her to grow much.
Erza has almost somewhat dedicated Lucy to be her "right-hand man" while she leads the group. Yeah, it's technically Team Natsu, but Erza and Lucy are the ones who do a majority of the work that isn't fighting. Erza is in charge of the group as a whole, ensuring that everyone is safe, healthy, and on track. Lucy is in charge of the map, finances, and helping with other information.
Natsu and Gray are the weather regulators. If they go somewhere that's too hot, Gray takes over. If they go somewhere too cold, Natsu takes over. That's their main job aside from getting food when they aren't nearby any towns.
I personally believe that they all have some sort of chronic pain or lingering injuries from their fights in the past.
Erza tends to hurt just about all over, but mainly gets head aches due to her eye strain and all the concussions she's sustained.
Natsu doesn't usually hurt too badly, but his scars always bother him whether they're itchy, throbbing, or something. His problem usually lies with his heart. Having died multiple times tends to fuck it up.
Gray has a similar issue with his scar. He also tends to feel very tight in his muscles due to how cold his natural body temp is after learning devil slayer magic so it takes him awhile to get out of bed in the morning. (He loved when the town was underwater because he could easily climb out of bed with no problem)
Wendy usually deals with sore muscles and an odd tingling in her hands and feet. They concluded that it's nerve damage from the Face she and Carla took care of.
Lucy gets random hot flashes from rewriting the book. She also still has scars from it, but they're super faint. You really only see them when she's standing in the sunlight. She also just has really bad knees and ankles but absolutely refuses to wear any shoe without a heel.
Gray and Natsu get under stimulated a lot when they're just travelling, so they make it a point to spar whenever they have a moment. It usually ends with them both getting scolded for going a bit too far.
Lucy still has her little quirk of wanting to collect more keys so anytime they travel somewhere, her first thing to do is find a magic shop and see if they have any. Most of the time she can't. A lot of shop masters tend to say that after the Grand Magic Games, celestial wizards started sprouting up out of nowhere, eager to learn more.
I want to believe that Wendy told Erza about Irene. Wendy felt a lot of guilt keeping it from her so after about a week that they first set out, she told Erza. Erza was more worried about what it meant for Wendy than anything cause wtf my mom that died is living in my basically little sister. It took Wendy a while to explain that it wasn't actually Irene, just her power.
Gray tends to space out whenever they're resting. No one really knows where his mind goes most of the time, but occasionally, he'll get the smallest smile and they'll know it's Juvia he's thinking about.
And for just a bit of Nalu angst, Natsu had a hard time looking at Lucy for a while. He knows Lucy takes a lot of pride in her looks so now that she has scars all over her body, he blames himself for them. She told him multiple times that they don't bother her and she takes a lot of pride in them herself. The scars are proof that she saved Natsu and that's all that matters for her. They slowly started to fade so now, he struggles to watch her stand in the sun. Lucy knows this and tends to make him look at her so he knows it's okay.

Assorted Fairy Tail headcanons
Put under read more because it got surprisingly longer than I thought...
Criss, don't look, this has spoilers...(ᵕ—ᴗ—). Also unrelated, this is my favorite Loke gif. Look at his dumb face scrunching up.
Tumblr media
Apparently, Loke can purr. Gray was the first person who found out about it and then he told Lucy. They both think it's cute and funny and they never fail to bring it up whenever Loke is around.
To continue upon the purring thing, Loke just acts like a cat sometimes. You know how cats fluff up and hiss when something spooks them? Loke does that too, his hair; which is already spiky, just spikes up even more. He also does that slow blinking thing.
During winter, Happy curls up around Natsu's neck more often, squeezing himself into his scarf. It was cute when he was a hatchling, but now that he's gotten a bit bigger, it's a bit of a hassle. Natsu doesn't mind though.
Jellal is the unwilling president and founder of "People who have a crush on Erza Club", members include Lucy, Mirajane, Minerva and Kagura.
Levy enjoys braiding Gajeel's hair. It's kind of a stress reliever for her.
Whenever Gray's hair is slicked back, he avoids any and all reflective surfaces. He looks way too much like Silver with his hair done like that and losing his father for the second time still hurts for him.
This probably doesn't even count as a headcanon, but Kyoka and Seliah were a thing and they were definitely getting freaky on there.
Lucy just knows a bunch of random things and has a bunch of random skills. Yes, she knows that the space between the eyebrows is called the glabella and yes, she's apparently good at fencing.
Laxus absolutely hates the cold. His coat is for both for fashion and to keep him warm.
If there's a "People who have a crush on Erza Club", there's one for Lucy too. Members include, Natsu, Loke, Gray, Juvia, Lisanna and Yukino.
Gajeel cannot handle summer. He hates summer with a passion. "It makes me feel like I'm melting," he claims.
Gray kissed Loke once, just to see what it's like and what the fuss is about. One accidental make out session later, Gray finally understood why. He wouldn't mind doing it again, but he's not saying that out loud.
Bickslow just moans for no reason at all. At the most random times. Freed hates it so much.
Sometimes, people find Wendy perched atop the weirdest places. As long as it's high up, there's a chance that Wendy is there or has been there. It's just her thing and Charle had given up trying to stop her.
Gray and Lyon are each other's bisexual awakings. Gray when they were kids and Lyon when he got his ass beat by Gray in Galuna Island (after much thought, of course).
Mirajane and Freed have a gossip night sometimes where they just break out the fancy wine and share the wildest things they've heard around in the guild. Mira hears a lot of it and Freed is way too observant that he notices too many things.
Mest has been at Lahar's grave more than he's been at the guild. (The tragic yaoi between them was surprising, but not unwelcome. I need more of that.)
Levy curses at people in foreign languages, Freed is horrified whenever he hears her. He's secretly sworn to never get on her bad side.
Since Lyon can do Ice Make with one hand, I'd assume that Molding Magic users can use their magic with other parts of their bodies like their legs, etc. While not as stable as the standard of using both hands, it's more efficient and are sometimes used for quick escapes. Well, anyways, Lyon can use Ice Make with his tongue. He can't create anything bigger than his own hand and certainly not anything as grand or powerful as his Snow Dragon, but it's useful enough. This totally not because I want to kiss Lyon on the mouth with tongue and then he makes ice while doing so and it'll feel cold, but it'll also feel really good. Definitely not even though it would be really sexy, ahahaha, I don't know what you're talking about.
Minerva takes cooking very, very seriously. No one is allowed in Sabertooth's kitchen when she's cooking and absolutely no one should disturb her while doing so. Anyone foolish enough is going to walk out of that kitchen horrified.
Yuka tries emulating Jura's "wise and serene wizard" look with his eyebrows since he can't grow a beard. It's not working, he just looks goofy, as said by Chelia and then Lyon.

Anyone else miss when Fairytail used to take it self seriously? Back in the early manga days, Mashima went absolutely hard on the world building. Establishing rules and keeping power scaling consistent somewhat; even having darker themes to the show. Characters had more emotional weight to them, with them actually taking each other seriously.
Tumblr media
This moment, there’s no tears involved but you can tell how much impact it has on the characters. Especially Gray. Natsu doesn’t kick Gray to the side and takeover the fight in a comedic way, in fact he even tells Gray to use the spell if he wants to. He’s not smiling, there’s no exaggerated goofy expressions. Instead his expression is the focal point of the panel, we see the conviction in his eyes. That he means what he says, he doesn’t want his rival at the time, Gray to die. Yet in this moment, he turns away entrusting Gray with the choice. But this time he’s reminded that there are people who will be affected by his decision to use the spell or not. Without the use of any tears, we can feel how hard this moment hits for Gray. Someone who has felt like he never deserved to live in this world. The arc take itself seriously and we see Gray remember Natsu’s words. They hold value to him and he chooses to fight for himself as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In these panels, we focus on his expression. There’s real stakes in these fights and this was back when there was no healer too. We get to see real wounds and what happens when wizards take on more than they should. They get hurt. We even see this in the first trip Natsu and Lucy go on together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see the guildmembers lives are taken seriously, that there is real consequences to them going on jobs. That being a wizard is dangerous, theres so much camaraderie and emotion shown in the early manga we really get a feel for just how much of a family Fairytail is to each other. They’ll even scale a snowy mountain littered with monsters just for the slim chance to drag them back to magnolia town. Betraying their pride to admit to their rivals they care. Aka Natsu and Gray. But you know what was great about it? It wasn’t all dark Fairytail knew when to be funny too, there was many light moments. Fairytail has always been fun goofy adventures but it knew when to take itself seriously.
Then we have 100yq…
Tumblr media
This is supposed to be a serious moment. Lucy was literally burnt. Natsu’s arm is torn to shreds, we see his eyes wide and sweat trailing down his skin. This is obviously not a comedic moment. So tell me why… instead of getting to focus on the characters feelings and how this may affect them. We get this…
Tumblr media
There is no detail to the expressions, their very simplified and cartoony. And we also have, Lucy being treated as fanservice… again. But the worst part about it is this is so out of character for Natsu. The way he looks at Lucy here, its as if she’s a bother to him. He completely disrespects her and downright sexually assaults her. They dumbed his character down to… this. This is the same Natsu that shed tears at the idea of Gray dying for his sake, the same Natsu whos blood boiled to see Erza scared, the same Natsu who took on an entire guild because of the unfair treatment to Yukino.
Yet he can’t even treat Lucy fairly here. This is something the old Natsu would not do, it’s so out of character. And Lucy is out of character here too, the old Lucy would’ve punched him square in the jaw for trying this.
In fact in the past she even threatened to leave the team because she thought he was only having her on the team for her blonde hair.
Lucy isn’t afraid to hold him accountable and we see Natsu reassure her feelings and take them seriously.
Tumblr media
If this was 100yq her feelings wouldn’t have been taken seriously. They would’ve been played as a joke, they would’ve said something like. “What do you mean it could’ve been anybody? You’re the only girl in the guild with blonde hair, I doubt Laxus would wanna do the job.”
But Natsu didn’t say something like that, we see Lucy’s conflicted expression at knowing he chose her because of her personality. And we’re shown that her feelings here are serious. Whereas in 100yq we don’t even get to see her face/reaction to his careless disregard of her burns. All we see is the side of her face, all the focus is on her chest for the joke.
Bonus Last point. This here is an exact example of what I mean. The serious weight of this situation we get to see clearly. Their expressions are the focal point, were shown this is a moment with weight to its whereas in 100yq the panels focus is on Lucy’s chest. We were robbed.

I have said it before and I will keep saying it forever, laios and erza would fw each other so hard. Laios's favorite food is cheesecake and erza contemplated eating a bear that one time thats all the confirmation I need, autistic coded armor wearers go absolutely crazy.
As for the others natsu and senshi would be a hardcore duo bro one dude who loves cooking another dude who loves eating not to mention the eternal stove that is natsu to senshi. Gray and chilchuck could bond over being sick of all this bullshit and Lucy and marcille would be besties because they are both so similar it physically hurts me not to mention Wendy and falin because healer and OFC happy and izu because cat lmao

Gruvia Week Day 6 - Agony
Author’s note: l know it’s very late but hope you enjoy ^^ /// hurt-comfort
Summary: This takes place in a “possible” or more likely “alternative” future where Juvia and some of the other members joined Team Natsu in Elentir, and White Priestess needs a stone formed by Selen’s magic’s remnants in order to stop Elentir from exploading.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“YOU ARE NOT GOING.”
Whole guild stopped and turned their head to the entrance, where annoyed Juvia stormed in followed by raging Gray.
“DO YOU HEAR ME. JUVIA. YOU ARE NOT GOING.”
Water mage suddenly came closer to him and speaked in a composed voice:
“Do you have a better idea then, Gray-sama?” This shut his mouth for a second.
“No” he said, greeting his teeth. “But sacrificing yourself is not an option too”
“IT IS AN ACCEPTABLE RISK” she brust out with frustration. Guild shooked by another shock wave. Had Juvia Lockser yelled at her beloved Gray-sama??
Gray could have been shocked too if he wasn’t in total rage. How could she even thought about doing this to herself! What’s worse was that he knew Juvia enough to know there was no turning back when those determination sparkes settled in her eyes.
Erza was the first one pulled herself together. She separated water and ice mages whos was looking at each other in a silent war. It was so weird seeing them like that..
“What’s going on?” Erza asked in a commending way.
“Juvia found a way in,” she started excitedly but continued more irritated “and made the mistake sharing her plan with Gray-sama first, thinking he would be supportive-“
“It’s a suicIDE MISSION” Erza warned him with a look but she had a bad feeling about this. There were a few things that could piss Gray off this much.
“Juvia realised there is an underground riverhead near here which rises to the surface around Black Moon Mountain and goes beyond it’s foot!! Juvia can sneak in using her water body, get stone samples and sneak out just as she get in!” She dropped the bomb which caused different reactions from her friends.
Natsu cheered happily “That’s perfect Juvia!” while Levy whined “Juvia!!?” in terror. Erza was rubbing her forehead, evaluating the idea. Lucy and Wendy were looking hesitant while Gajeel was shaking his had in approvement. Erza started:
“ I don’t know Juvia...There is so many things could go wrong? Sending you there alone is just...” Her words calmed the ice mage who was about to rail Natsu. His lips curled up a bit. He turned to Juvia, opened his mouth to say ‘see?’ when Erza continued:
“But I can’t think of any other way.”
“WHAT? YOU’RE APPROVING THIS?”
“Gray-sama Selene don’t know what stones can do. There won’t be any protection around the area. Riverside is maximum one minute away from magic remanence. And this is a take and run mission, Juvia can always run back if somethings go wrong-“
“You. Can’t. Know. That! We have absolutely no idea what Selene knows nor don’t. You can’t know if there is an extra protection. You can’t know her or her minions suddenly won’t feel like using the area. What if they catch you? You’ll be alone in there Juvia! We won’t be there in time if something goes wrong-“
“Gray you’re speculating-“ Erza started but he cut her short angrily
“These are not speculation, possibilities!”
“Gray she is very well capable of doing this. None of us wants to send her alone but this is our best shot.” Lucy explained in a considerate voice.
“And Juvia always had been good at sneaking. Phantom used her as a spy a lot of time.” Gajeel commented in a similar voice. Which somehow drove ice mage even more crazy.
“ I know she’s strong and capable but I also know she’s not immortal like she likes to think!”
This caused an awkward silence because everyone was aware he wasn’t entirely wrong. It was a dangerous mission with a high potential of disaster.
“What are you suggesting than Gray-sama. Should we let a dimension of people die just because it was a little dangerous for Juvia?”
“No.. but we can find another way-“
“But we couldn’t and time is ticking.” He kept his silent while examining everyone.
Lucy, Wendy and Levy were still hesitant yet accepted the situation. Natsu was confused. Gajeel was giving approval. Erza had warmed up to the idea. And lastly, Juvia was heartbroken yet determined.
His heart tightened. He knew she would do it anyway, even the whole guild would be against it. Anger he’s been desperately holding on since she told him about her plan was fading. Giving it’s crown to the actual emotion, fear. His eyes started to burn.
“Are you going to go?” He asked,
trying to keep his voice calm and straight.
“Yes”
“Fine.” he said taking a few steps back. “If you want to kill yourself, do it. But I won’t stay here and watch it.” Then he left as fast as he came.
With his exit everybody took a deep breath. Juvia felt her eyes getting filled with tears. It was their first fight. She knew his actions were fueled by worry yet this knowledge didn’t ease the pain in her heart. Erza pulled her into a hug, mumbled:
“ You know he acted like this because he cares about you a lot, right?” while caressing her hair.
“Juvia knows but it doesn’t make it any easier..” She left Erza’s arm with a last squeeze and dried corner of her eyes. She didn’t want to cry this time.
Natsu was still looking where Gray left. He was very confused. “What’s wrong with ice princess? It wasn’t like him at all.” he verbalised his confusion.
Lucy felt her eyes twitched in annoyance. “Of course It’s too much for you to understand” she grumbled as she walked to Erza and Juvia. Left even more confused Natsu behind her.
“He is not entirely wrong tho Juvia.” she sat down in front of her. “You have no obligation to put yourself in such danger.”
Juvia shook her head. “I’m doing it of my free will. Let’s stop talking about weather should i do it or not and start talking about how to do it.”
After that they made backup plans for every bad scenario they could think of. Which was a lot since Levy was a doomsayer. They thought about what tools she should took along, when she should leave, how long she should stay inside and other details until dinner time.
As they went onto the details it got more believable that this misson was doable. So at dinner everybody was in better mood, they were still worried, of course, but relaxed enough to laugh a bit.
As time went on and her leaving time, which was a little after it got dark,came closer; Erza hesitantly asked:
“Ehem Juvia.. are you sure you’re okey leaving without saying goodbye to Gray? We can found him if you want-“ She shook her head rapidly.
“If his stubbornness is more important than farewelling Juvia, there’s nothing to say.” She said determinedly. But couldn’t hide the pain crossed her heart. She had hoped he would come. She had thought he would come.
“And it’s almost time to go too, Juvia should get ready.” She got up with a determined smile. Looked around the trusting faces she called family and continued with a even brighter smile. “See you later, everyone.”
This time, it was Lucy who pulled her into a hug. Followed by Erza whom followed by Gajeel whom followed by Levy and a moment later whole guild was touching their one and only water mage, cheering and exchanging assuring words.
She exited from the hall followed by echoes of her friends voices. Her smile faded as she got closer to the bigger building they used as an inn. Fully aware that she would spend her remaining time suppressing her disappointment. Thinking about how stupid her ice mage is on a dangerous mission wasn’t a good idea.
That’s why she felt suprised, angry and euphoric at the same time when she saw him sitting on the floor, in front of her door. His eyes were covered by his hair. He was playing with his finger like he always did when he’s nervous. She slowly took last two ledder while her lip curled up.
When she stood in front of him, for a second he ignored her. Continued playing with his fingers as he looked down. Then slowly hugged her legs. Hid his head from her sight and mumbled:
“I’m sorry, I overreacted.” His voice was hoarse like he’d been cried a lot. “ It’s just.. I-I might not..” he squeezed her legs harder, instead of finishing his sentence. Juvia lifted his chin despite his resistance and looked into his eyes. They were red and swelled, confirming her suspicion. He’d been cried. A wave of affection passed through her veins.
He saved himself from her grip with a blush and burried his face to her legs once again. Her hands went straight to his hair, carresed it with compassion.
“You might not what?” her voice came out more eager than she intended.
“I might not be over the Invel incident...”
No shit, she thought as she kept her silence for him to say more. But mentally she was literally jumping. They were finally having this much needed conversation.
“It’s just.. I hold you in my arms as your heart slowed with every beat Juvia... There were blood everywhere a..and I was leaning on you, to feel your breaths but I...I couldn’t-“ he stoped once again when his voice broke. They stayed in that position one or two minute. He slowly continued. whispering this time:
“I saw the world without you, Juvia. And I can’t afford living in it. I can’t”
She slied into his arms and sat down on his lap, pulled his head to her breast as he wrapped his arms around her.
“Gray-sama do you remember, while we were fighting against eclipse dragons, we had a vision that Gray-sama was...gone.”
He lifted his head just for a second. “I do..”
“Well, Juvia does too. She had many sleepless night over that. Waiting him return from missions were literally torture. She even pucked out of anxiety once when he was late. She wanted him to choose safer jobs, no, she wanted to lock him in case.
“She blamed herself a lot too. For being so weak, so careless..” Gray lifted his head again, to object this time but she stopped him.
“Then one day, you stepped on Natsu-san’s scarf while he was hiding under the table to prank Lucy and didn’t get up for a while.” She chuckled to annoyed growlings he made. His nose had broken that night.
“And at that moment she realised she couldn’t destroy every hidden scarfs standing his way. So instead of waiting some bad thing to happen her beloved Gray-sama and missing her chance at the process; she decided to enjoy every moment they had together until separation was inevitable. And hope that day won’t come for a long long time.”
He was looking her with a complex expression. A small smiled formed on his lips a moment later. Now it was his turn to pull her into his chest. “ I can try that” he said softly. Then his expression hardened a bit.
“But you still have to promise me you will drop the mission if some out of plan situation occurs.”
“She promise she will be reasonable.” He sighed and said
“Fair enough. And I will break into if you won’t return till sunrise.”
“Juvia will definitely return then.” She looked outside “To be able to keep her promise she needs to get ready now” His lips curled down immediately. Like a kid whose candy has taken away from him.
She pinched his cheeks near his pouty lips with a reassuring smile before going into her room.
Approximately 10 minutes later she came out wearing tights, small backpack and one of his shirt she owned while they were living together. That cheered him up a bit. She offered her hand to him:
“Let’s go down to others.” He hold her hand but stayed still instead of gettting up.
“I don’t want them to see me like this,” showed his eyes “Would it be okey if we say goodbye here?”
She kneeled in front of him and hugged him tightly, whispered:
“See you later, Gray-sama.” And pulled back quickly, feeling his intention of keeping her in there another half an hour.
She was just about to get up when she felt his grip on her armed, followed by a sudden kiss on her cheek.
“Good luck kiss,” He said while his grin got bigger as her flushing got deeper. “Now go!”
He ambivalently watched his girl left for an extremly dangerous mission; stumbling and smiling like a silly.

I was bored so here’s some hc’s
I have a lot surprisingly so a lot of these are coming off the top of my head
-Laxus does not have good eyesight in the eye with a scar because that's where the lacrima was implanted. But he can still see out of it, it just gets blurry sometimes.
-If you had a lacrima implanted in you, there's gonna be a scar where it was implanted, and depending on what type of magic it is determine's the shape.
-Laxus's mother was born without magic and had the same thing happen to her but she was 16 when she had it implanted in her hand, she also had asked to have one and Laxus didn't.
-Laxus was born without magic thanks to his mother being born without magic too.
-When you get a lacrima implanted in you, depending on what type and how strong it is, depends on how sick you get. It's a counterbalance so people won't always get lacrima's implanted in them. The day it was implanted you get very sick as the body's reaction to an overwhelming influx of magic in your system, it happens every year in the same day it was implanted but the first time is the worst.
-"This is what I get for being emotionally slutty," Loke probably looking back on some kind of event.
-Loke with freckles!
-Loke sleeps when he's bored.
-Lucy suffers the worst writer's block ever and can't seem to ever get out of it no matter how hard she tries(I feel you girl).
-Plue really likes candy.
-Happy got Lucy a little frame that said "Life is better with cats" for her Birthday and despite how much Happy annoys her sometimes she keeps it on the desk she writes on and treasures it dearly.
-Do not let Erza play whack a mole or the games where you have to throw balls at clowns or vases you have to knock down to win a prize.
-Or let the dragon slayers play any driving game in general.
-Horror movies do not scare Aries, a lot of things do, but not horror movies.
-Mira really likes candles, but always gets them when they're on sale.
- Gray once got banned from a strip club after being mistaken for one of the strippers.
-Juvia could literally kill someone if she wanted to since our bodies are made of 60% of water but has no idea. She desires to learn more about blood magic if she so desires but hasn't.
-Levy wants to study rune magic but procrastination is her worst enemy, also people trying to attack the guild interrupting her every time she tries to cracks open a book to try and learn it. She's stopped trying to learn it in fear that if she tries someone will start attacking the guild again.
-Gajeel & Juvia and Gray & Loke are very underrated friendships that need more attention.
-Natsu chugged hot sauce and didn't even flinch. (A friend of mine did that and they scare me.)
-Lucy carries around a box of matches just in case Natsu wants a snack whenever they go on missions.( which is a lot of the time, a lot of her money has went into buying matches, she's had to go to plenty different stores to buy some because she's scared the clerk will think she's up to something and explaining it will only make her seem more suspicious.)
-Technically demon slayers are just exorcists but with more violence.
-In a human au Gray was an exorcist once.
But in normal Fairy Tail he takes side jobs on getting rid of demons from ordinary houses or other places which pays a lot.
-The wool Aries can make, can make really nice jackets. She's made jackets using it, but Loke stole it cause he likes comfy things in general.
-Loke actually needs his glasses, his glasses double as both sunglasses and normal glasses(someone I know someone who has the same type of glasses, I also wear glasses so.) due to being in Earthland too long, certain things started deteriorating like important sense's thankfully it wasn't on a major scale but on a longer one but it can't be fixed.
-Due to his eyesight deteriorating he has better hearing.
-Loke and Evergreen are nearsighted, Levy is farsighted.
-Ivan named Laxus because Laxus looked so much like his mother it only seemed fair.
-Laxus has an aunt who's his mom's sister. He talks to her through letters because she lives across the sea.
-"My little dragon," was a nickname that Laxus's mom gave him after he had gotten the dragon lacrima implanted in him against her wishes since if they were to do it, she wanted to do it when he was 16 like her but Ivan thought 8 was a much more appropriate age. (It was not). The only one who knows of this nickname for him is Makarov, his mom, his aunt, and his dad.
-His dad once used the name in a fight against him and he wanted to punch him so bad.
-If Mira were to swear she'd put sailors to shame.
-Erza has horrible road rage.
-I refuse to believe that Loke has two sets of ears, he does not have human ears and lion(cat ears?) ears at the same time just lion ears while in his celestial form and humans ones in his human form. He wears the piercing he used to wear on his human ears on his cat ears when in said celestial form, or outfit or whatever.
-The car ears(I'm calling them that now) are actual ears, you'd be surprised how many people try to pull on them in thinking that they aren't only to be pleasantly surprised that they in fact are. He likes to be pet behind them whenever they are there and he doesn't have regular human ears.
-He also despises chokers/collars with the very soul of his being. He might hiss at you if you bring one even close to him that's how much he hates them.
He doesn't even have a reason to he just hates them.
-Erza sometimes refers to her guildmates as "Feral children".
-Dragonslayers cannot whistle if their life depended on it.
-Loke knows French because most of his masters were in the French Court meaning it was mandatory for him to learn it. (I refuse to believe anyone with common sense would date him with that haircut he had in the human world, looked like something a 5-year-old would draw on a stick figure in an attempt to draw hair).
-Levy knows French, Arabic, and a few other languages.
-She fucks with people by talking to Loke in French and making them think that they're talking about that person why they aren't.
-Mira tried to learn French, she failed very badly since she kept forgetting the parts before the word and kept messing it up.
-The dragon slayers can purr when happy, growl when mad, and whimper when sad.
-The same thing applies to Loke but mostly because he's an overgrown cat.
-In order to date someone at the guild if you aren't in it you have to get Erza's blessing/asking her if it's alright since she's kinda the older sister and also the first one you wanna tell.
-Loke does not blow-dry his hair after he washes it because it just poof's up and there's no way to fix it other than to wash his hair again and look like a drowned cat for an hour or two. Though his hair is very soft after he washes it and it properly drys and isn't wet.
-Celestial spirits can dream, but their dreams consist of looking back on old memories from an outside viewpoint.
-Freed says "Let's have another round tonight" very unenthusiastically when drunk, just that sentence, no other sentence, just that one, only when he's drunk.
-Loke's good with finances along with fashion because one of his previous master, Valeria, pushed her financial work on him as a 'learning experience'.
-Loke was also offered a modeling job before and Lucy is super pissed since he of all people can get one but not her. (In the human au, he actual does modeling)
-If Mira and Loke were to team up it'd most like to be to help people in the guild get together.
-They would succeed.
-They both also like wine.
-Loke and Erza are bi, Mira is pan.
-Upon learning about this, Juvia considered Loke a love rival, be assured her that he was none and that he'd give her some advice to trying to date Gray because Gray and romance don't go well if she kept quiet about it.
-Gray ended up figuring it out and still holds it against him.
-Loke does not like being compared to a cat, he despises it so Gray as the best friend he is does exactly that.
-The two of them have blackmail on each other, and Gray often drags Loke into watching horror movies knowing he absolutely despises him with the very core of his being.
-Gajeel will fight anyone who hurts his best friend, Juvia.
Or anyone who hurts his guild but Juvia is different since she's been with him since they joined Fairy Tail.
Natsu once grabbed a pan straight out of the oven and horrified everyone in the room.

Hi, I hope your doing okay😊, Could you write sfw and nsfw headcanons whole team natsu in a relationship with a fem s/o? Thank you!
Hi there! Sorry this one took me so long I had a hard time with the SFW headcanons. The NSFW ones are a bit longer hope you don’t mind. Also like my last poly team natsu post this one sort of left out wendy just cause she’s a kid.
Tumblr media
SFW:
- So you never once thought that you would be able to manage getting one partner not to mention 4! Yes honey that's correct, 4! Gray, Natsu, Erza, and Lucy. And dear Celestial King did you love them.
- You go on all together dates, then sometimes threesome dates or just one on ones. But you were all together and very happy!
- All 5 of you being in a relationship sometimes made things just a little more complex. For instance anniversaries. You all had one anniversary together and then a one on one anniversary. Your individual anniversaries usually happened on days where something special happened in your bond with each other.
- When you went on dates with all 4 of them they might take you to see fireworks or on a picnic or to do something as a group. When you just went with one or two of them it ranged depending on who it was picking the activity.
- Lucy liked calm dates to a coffee shop or on a walk around the city to shop. She was into lowkey things because her chaotic life in Fairytail left her very little time to be chill. You guys would often read together or cook and eat a homemeal. If you wanted quiet time she was the person to go to (although Natsu regularly interrupted your fun).
- Erza was somewhat laid back with her approaches of dating. She had these visions of what a perfect romantic day would consist of almost like a little girl dreaming of her future. You found it adorable… until she started beating up people for ruining her picnic. She often took you to dinner at fancy restaurants and to festivals in town where she would buy way too much stuff. If you guys stayed home you would probably try on her armor cause she insisted you looked amazing in it. Training dates too where she would teach you to use all sorts of swords.
- Gray wasn’t really the ‘take you out on a date’ type he was more of a ‘spontaneous hang out’ person. He’d probably show up in your apartment claiming he was bored and no one else was around and play a board game with you. Sometimes he would be waiting for you outside so you could walk to the guild together. He wasn’t interested in setting up a time and getting all dressed up just to see someone who you’ve already seen in sweats and a stained t-shirt a thousand times. But occasionally on special occasions like individual anniversary days he would take you dancing in a nice setting or to a fancy dinner where he bought you a dress the day before hand and slipped a bracelet on your wrist when you arrived.
- Natsu was the most adventurous with dates so far. He wanted to go on a job as a date then get dinner at some crazy all you can eat buffet afterwards. Or you guys would climb a mountain to find some crazy creature just so he could fight it. He took you out to eat a lot but it was mostly a lot of him stuffing his face and you talking about whatever you're interested in. He was a surprisingly good listener when he eats. Sometimes dates would be chill and calm like when he and Happy go fishing while you lean on his back and fall asleep. Speaking of Happy, the little blue cat usually accompanied you guys on your dates but when you went home he flew off to spend time with Carla or Lucy. At home you guys would probably talk, sleep, he would make a mess and be his general upbeat self.
- You weren’t the strongest wizard alive and you certainly couldn’t beat your lovers but you could usually hold your own in a fight. Not that your baes would want you in a fight. The four of them happen to be extremely protective, with you and each other. So expect to get very little action time. They’re just so scared to lose you or that you’ll get hurt. Sometimes it's kinda funny but at the same time you don’t want to be treated like just some kid that can’t defend themselves so at the very least they could let you fight your own battles. They agree that you should be able to fight for yourself and even offer to help you train. It’s been a while since that ridiculous protective mode kicked in for any of them (and you) but if you or one of them were to get hurt then it would be the end of times for whoever caused it. (ok not really but there would be repercussions).
Spicy time ;)
NSFW:
- Sometimes a fivesome is a bit too much to deal with so you often break off into groups of two or three.
- When having sex with Natsu he likes to make it fun and often likes to singe your sheets a bit, liking how the smell of smoke mixes with your own. His heightened sense of smell makes it all the more fun since he can literally smell when you like something and just how much. He’s always gonna find the sweetest spots on your body and it’s a guarantee that you’re going to cum more than once. He wants to exhaust you. Natsu loves the afterglow and finds that lying with you afterwards completely at ease is his favorite part of the whole experience.
- Kink wise he’s probably into praising you as you ‘take control’. Natsu’s not really the type to be into harsher play, he’s seen his friends hurt enough and wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he was the one to seriously hurt them. An exception would probably be bruises in the shapes of his hands right around your hips. Instead of being extra rough and kinky he switches things up a bit by letting you take the reins. Although if you tease him too much or he gets the feeling that you're forgetting who's really in charge he’ll quickly flip things around and remind you that he’s the top in the relationship.
- Grey is different in the way that he doesn’t mind if you get mouthy or tease him a little. He finds it entertaining when you're on top since you're so submissive like when you're out of bed and he could easily take control. So he has no problem laying back and letting you ride or suck him and chase your own pleasure however you please. But his favorite way to have you is with you on your hands and knees as he fucks you fast and hard.
- For gray’s kinks I imagine that he’d be pretty kinky, but only for some things. Gray would probably be into being tied up and trying to break free. He would also love it if you choked on his dick and it would especially turn him on when there are tears of pleasure and overstimulation in your eyes. He likes to be edged and edge you for hours till either of you finally get your release.
- Erza is actually soft when it comes to sex which she prefers to call it making love. She believes that it’s an opportunity to be intimate and close, to be vulnerable and expose yourself to another. It’s a high form of respect and she wants to treat you with respect. Slow sensual kissing, comforting massages that turn into more, slow grinds and hands everywhere. Having sex with Erza isn’t about kinks or doing a quickie, it’s all about you. Erza wants to worship you in every way possible and occasionally she’ll let you worship her too.
- Lucy on the other hand can go either way. Sex can be calm and sweet and meaningful, or it can be fast and rough and simply about pleasure. She can be a top or a bottom depending on the situation. With slow sex she likes to top because it really gives her a chance to show how much she loves you. When it’s rough though she could top but really actually likes being a bottom.
- This girl is kinky af! She’s into just about everything with some probably obvious exceptions. Bondage? Absolutely! Tie her up, bend her into different positions, overstimulate her to the point of tears. Public? Sure. Although she probably wouldn’t do it on a stage, a quick closet session where you’d have to hold your hands over your mouths to keep quiet would be thrilling. Toys? Yes! She will wear a collar for you and she will also sit at the guild all day with a toy in her. Her favorite kink though? Degradation/dirty talk. Pretty sure that has a bit of voice kink mixed in but it doesn’t really matter since she’s crying out as she cums anyway. She wants to be called a dirty slut as you pull her hair and finger her. She wants you to whisper all the things you’ll do to her in her ear. She can’t help but love the fierceness in your tone and the fake hardness in your eyes.
- All together sex is usually more fun but also super overstimulating since your all receiving several people's attention at once. You can’t bring yourself to mind however as you always feel satisfied in the end. When it’s all five of you together it’s usually just vanilla sex but occasionally some dirty stuff slips under the radar. You usually act as a bottom/switch in these occasions only ever really conscious enough to find pleasure for yourself. The rest is just a haze of bliss that comes then takes forever to leave when you're done (not that you mind however).
- Aftercare is very important to all of them and is crucial for all types of sex. They simply won’t allow you to sleep on sticky sheets or covered in cum. Most of the time you’re to out of it to really care but once they come to they move you to the (large enough to fit 5 people *wink* *wink*) bathtub for a nice relaxing bath while they change the sheets. They then often join you and cuddle until drying off and making your way back to the fresh bed.

The rest of the week flew by in a blur of flirty texts, silly Snapchats, and a sushi date on Tuesday evening. Now it was Sunday, and Natsu and Gray were standing in the entrance to the basement, holding hands while Sting raised an eyebrow at them.
“Finally!” He grinned. “Glad my subterfuge worked.”
“Shut all the way up,” Natsu grumbled, waving his notebook in Sting’s direction. “You’re an asshole.”
Sting picked up a Skittle from the bowl in front of him and tossed it at Natsu’s forehead. “I’m an asshole that got you a date,” he insisted. “I believe what you meant to say is ‘thank you.’”
Natsu rolled his eyes before turning to Gray and kissing him on the cheek. “Ignore him,” he said quietly, smiling at the pink flush that crept across Gray’s face. “He’s always a dick.”
“I know,” Gray said, laughing at Sting’s mock outrage behind Natsu’s back. “But he’s also right.”
“See?” Sting kicked Natsu’s ankle as he let go of Gray’s hand and settled down at his spot at the table.
“And how long did it take you to decide to ask Rogue out?” Natsu asked, setting his dice bag on the table and raising an eyebrow at Sting. “Six months? Seven?”
“Over a year,” Rogue interjected from his spot at the end of the table. “Technically we knew each other for almost three years before he said anything.”
“Look,” Sting started indignantly, but was saved from having to explain himself by the arrival of Erza. Everyone immediately sat up in their chairs, organizing their character sheets and pulling out dice as she dropped her books on the table.
“Are we ready?” she asked as she settled down in her chair. The excited look on her face made Natsu grin, and he could see the feeling was mutual when he looked around the table. “Everyone remember what happened last time?”
“We freed the prisoners,” Gray said, tapping his pencil against the sheets of paper where he kept his notes. “But the summoning spell went off anyway, and we were—”
o.o.o.o.o.o
“—too late.”
The demon’s horns breached the portal, tearing through the reddish miasma as a foul black smoke filled the air. The stench of brimstone and burned flesh followed it and Gray coughed, covering his mouth with his sleeve.
“C’mon,” he said, grabbing Sting’s arm and nodding toward the wall. Natsu and Rogue were back by the door, herding the last of the prisoners to the stairs. Natsu turned around and made eye contact with Gray across the roof. His expression was grim, and he was pressing his hand over his side where a reddish stain was spreading through his robes.
“We can’t let this thing get out,” Sting insisted, pulling his arm out of Gray’s grip. “If it makes it through the summoning circle, we’re fucked.” He gestured to the lines of blood that had been painted along the rooftop. The sight of that – and the pile of corpses that were lying next to the tree – made Gray’s stomach churn.
“I can’t do much else,” he said, flexing his fingers as he dug deep for his magic. The well of power that usually surged through him was barely there. “I don’t have any offensive spells left.”
Sting looked back to Rogue and Natsu, then hefted his greatsword and turned back to the monster. “We have to do something. I’ll keep it busy; you take care of those three. If you can take them out, it should weaken this bastard enough to kill it.” He gestured to the three cultists standing by the portal before saying a quiet prayer under his breath and charging toward the demon.
Gray couldn’t help but stare in awe as he watched Sting’s charge. Brilliant white light burst from his blade as he swung it at the beast, gouging through its tough hide and causing it to howl in pain. The magic made Sting look holy and ethereal. Rogue appeared next to him – the dark to Sting’s light – keeping the creature distracted while Sting swung at it again.
“Hey.” Gray turned to see Natsu standing beside him, still holding his side and breathing heavily. “We’ve got those guys, hey?”
“You’re bleeding,” Gray said, reaching out to grab Natsu’s wrists. Natsu shook his head and pushed Gray’s hand away.
“I’ll be fine. We don’t have much time.” He nodded at the group of cultists, who were starting to move toward them. “I’ve only got a fireball left,” he admitted. “That won’t take all of them out. You?”
Gray shook his head. “I can portal us out of here and that’s about it.” He looked down at the bag on his hip, quickly trying to think of anything that could get them out of this mess. The only thing he could find was the dagger at his hip, and he didn’t have much faith that it would get him very far.
“Wait a minute,” Natsu said. “I have an idea.”
o.o.o.o.o.o
“What would happen,” Natsu asked slowly, staring at his spell list, “if we cast a fireball inside a cube of force?”
Erza raised her eyebrow at him from behind her screen but didn’t answer.
“I hate that look,” Sting said. “It either means this is gonna be great, or we’re absolutely fucked.”
“I’ve got a plan,” Natsu insisted.
Rogue scoffed as he took a sip of his iced coffee. “If it’s anything like your last plan, we’re gonna TPK right here.”
“We’re not all gonna die,” Natsu insisted. He pointed to an item in his character’s inventory – the Cube of Force. Gray wasn’t sure where he’d picked it up, but he’d only seen it a few times before. Pressing a button on one side of the magic cube summoned an impenetrable forcefield around the user, keeping them safe from all magic spells coming from outside. Or, Gray supposed, trapping them with a spell inside.
“It’s fifteen feet on each side,” Natsu said. “We just gotta trap all three of them in there and toss a fireball inside before they activate it.”
“Why would they do that?” Sting countered. “You’re just gonna throw the cube to them and say ‘hey, press this magic button, it’ll be fine?’”
Natsu hummed, then looked up at Gray. “Do you have the ‘suggestion’ spell?” he asked. “You could try to compel them to do it.”
Gray nodded. “That won’t work if we try to get them to hurt themselves, though.”
“They don’t know it would hurt them. You’d just be suggesting that they push the button on this very fancy cube that’s being thrown at them. It could be a jack-in-the-box for all they know.”
“We’d have to be within thirty feet for that,” Gray said. “If it doesn’t work, we’re kinda fucked.”
“We’re fucked anyway if we do nothing,” Natsu countered. “Do you—”
o.o.o.o.o.o
“—trust me?” Natsu’s expression was sincere as he gazed into Gray’s eyes.
Gray nodded slowly, digging into his reagent pouch and pulling out the necessary ingredients for the spell. He crushed them in his right hand, taking a quick peek at Rogue and Sting over Natsu’s shoulder. Sting looked exhausted and battered, wiping blood out of his eyes that dripped from a deep cut on his forehead. Baphomet’s hide was stained red and covered in deep gouges, and the demon roared as Gray watched Rogue clamber up onto its back and stab both daggers into its neck.
“Ready?” Natsu’s voice pulled Gray’s attention back, and he looked down to see Natsu holding out a bloodstained hand. Gray took it, squeezing it tightly before turning back toward the cultists.
“Ready,” he said quietly.
“Catch!” Natsu shouted, tossing the cube at the cultists as they charged forward. The leader stumbled to a halt as he caught it out of instinct, staring down at the strange object with his brow furrowed.
“Suadeant,” Gray whispered under his breath as he took a step closer, still gripping Natsu’s hand tightly. Sweat dripped down his forehead and the back of his neck, and his heart pounded as he stared down the cultists. “Praecepta mea.”
The cultist looked up at him, eyes wide, and Gray’s chest flared with hope for a second. Then the man’s lip curled up in a wicked grin, and he shook his head.
“You think you can fool me with your cheap tricks?” the man shouted, tossing the cube to the ground with a snort of disdain. “I am Ezrael, he who summoned the Prince of Beasts, the Horned King. I will not be deceived by the likes of you.”
“Fuck.” Natsu’s palm trembled against Gray’s. “Shit, fucking, fuck.”
“I can get us out of here,” Gray said, taking a step back and holding out a trembling hand. The air sparked and glimmered as a dimensional portal began to form. “We can’t do anything else – just fireball them and hope for the best.”
“It’s not gonna be enough,” Natsu said, tugging at Gray’s grip on his hand and looking across the battlefield. Rogue was on his back in the dirt now, still conscious but breathing heavily, with his arm at an unnatural angle. Sting stood against the door that the prisoners had escaped through, sword shaking in his hands as he fought against pain and exhaustion. “Sting’s gonna die unless we kill them.”
Gray looked on helplessly as Baphomet took a step toward Sting and hefted its enormous glaive in one hand, then brought it down in a powerful arc. Sting parried the blow, dropping to one knee as he fought against the might of the enormous beast. Baphomet knocked the sword from Sting’s hands, sending it clattering across the roof as it wrapped its claws around Sting’s neck and lifted him into the air.
“I’m sorry.” Natsu squeezed Gray’s hand and let go, giving him a regretful look.
“For…” Gray trailed off, one hand still casting the dimensional portal, the other trying to take Natsu’s again. Natsu shook his head, then surprised Gray by leaning in and pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
“For this,” Natsu said softly as he pulled back and gave Gray a sad look. Then he shoved Gray as hard as he could, knocking him back through the portal.
o.o.o.o.o.o
“What the hell?” Gray stared at Natsu, who was looking at his dice with an uncharacteristically solemn expression on his face. “Can I make a Strength check to counter that?”
Erza nodded and Gray rolled, cursing when his dice landed on an 11 and Natsu rolled an 18.
“What are you doing?” he asked Natsu. Sting and Rogue were also staring at him with twin looks of surprise.
“Saving you,” Natsu said. He kicked gently at Gray’s ankle under the table. “The plan didn’t work, so either we all die, or one of us does.” He looked up at Sting. “If I take the cultists out you can kill it, right?”
“I do only have… sixteen hit points left,” Sting admitted. “If I can get one good hit in, I might be able to banish it. I have to do fifty points of damage in a turn, but if it drops me and I can get my sword…”
“Well,” Natsu said, pulling out a pile of six-sided dice to roll the fireball’s damage. “Hopefully this works.”
o.o.o.o.o.o
“Natsu!” Gray’s shout was cut off, and he had no time to react as the magic ported him away, carrying him safely across the rooftop until he was crouched next to Rogue. He watched with horror as Natsu turned and ran toward the cultists. “Natsu, no!”
Natsu ignored him, dodging the first cultist and dropping to his knees to pick up the cube. He turned and gave Gray one more soft smile before pressing the button.
“No,” Gray whispered. The walls of force sprang into life, trapping Natsu in the cube with the cultists. All three of them were still for a moment, staring at Natsu in disbelief, and then the bright light in his hand expanded into an enormous ball of flame.
The explosion was eerily silent, muffled by the magical forcefield. It filled the cube in brilliant shades of orange and red, engulfing everyone inside in Natsu’s raw power. An enormous wave of magic exploded across the rooftop, washing over Gray and Rogue on its way to Baphomet.
“No,” Gray whispered again as the cube began to dissipate. The flames slowly died out, leaving behind three charred corpses and a pile of smoldering robes.
“Sting!” Rogue’s panicked shout snapped Gray out of his haze of grief, and he turned to see Baphomet stumble forward and release its grip on Sting’s throat. Sting fell to the ground on all fours, gasping and choking for air. His sword lay on the ground, just out of reach.
Gray stumbled to his feet, keeping an eye on Baphomet, who was still dazed from the death of its summoners. He darted toward Sting, grabbing the hilt of the sword and dragging it across the ground.
“Get up,” he said, grabbing Sting’s shoulder and pushing him to his knees. Sting coughed, then sucked in several deep breaths before nodding and reaching out for his blade.
“I’ve got this,” he said, voice hoarse. “Get behind me.”
Gray nodded, still dazed, and scrambled back against the door as Sting hefted the sword in both hands and murmured a few quiet words. The length of the blade burst into brilliant white flames that flickered as Sting took a deep breath and charged.
Gray watched with a deep sense of relief as the blade sunk directly into Baphomet’s chest. The demon howled in pain, swinging wildly at Sting, who dodged the blows and drove the blade deeper.
“Protero!” Sting shouted as another wave of holy magic radiated from him, spiraling out from the sword and creeping across Baphomet’s skin. It quickly engulfed the demon, growing brighter and brighter until—
o.o.o.o.o.o
“The holy magic and your deadly blow are enough to rip through the magic holding Baphomet to this plane.” Erza looked around the table, giving each of them a significant look. “As the tether that binds the demon dissolves and it disappears, a heavy silence settles across the rooftop. The shouts and screams of battle are gone, and all you can hear is the wind blowing through the branches of the horrible, flesh-like tree.”
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Sting swore, dropping his head into his hands and exhaling. “That was intense. I was sure we were all gonna d—” He caught himself, looking over at Natsu, who was staring at his dice with an uncomfortable expression on his face. The spot on his character sheet to track his health read ‘Hit Points – 0/93.”
“You’re not dead yet,” Rogue said quickly. “Sting can—”
Sting shook his head. “I’m out of healing spells,” he said regretfully. “I used my last slot on that banishment. And we’re all out of healing potions.”
“Yeah, and this is my last death saving throw,” Natsu said. He glared at his dice. “I failed the first two, so if this one fucks up…” He looked up at Gray. “I’m dead for good.”
o.o.o.o.o.o
Gray groaned, pushing himself to his feet and trying not to focus on the aches that crept across his body. He still felt dizzy but managed to lock his gaze on the motionless pile of robes on the other side of the rooftop.
“You’re bleeding.” Sting’s voice was muffled, and Gray blinked at him, still trying to clear his head. “You should sit down.” When Sting’s hand landed on Gray’s shoulder, he pushed it off, shaking his head and taking another uncertain step forward.
“I gotta…” He trailed off, looking back over at Natsu’s body. “I…”
Sting’s expression twisted into guilt as he followed Gray’s gaze. “Shit,” he whispered. He looked down at Rogue, who had managed to shuffle himself against the wall of the building. Rogue nodded, gesturing for them to go to Natsu. “C’mon,” Sting said, grabbing Gray’s arm and wrapping it around his shoulders.
Each step across the rooftop ached. When they finally reached the charred circle where the fireball had gone off, Gray dropped to his knees. Sting helped him to roll Natsu onto his back and Gray brushed pieces of singed hair out of his face. His forehead and cheek were badly burned, and his arms were blistered, and Gray stared helplessly at his chest, willing it to move.
“You idiot,” Gray managed through the tears that were starting to form. His throat was thick with smoke and emotion. “You stupid fucking… we could have figured out something else.” He ran his fingers down Natsu’s arm and took his hand, squeezing it gently.
“He saved us,” Sting said gently. He was crying too, tears making tracks through the dirt and blood on his face. His hands trembled as he pressed them to Natsu’s chest, but his magic only flickered dimly. “I can’t heal him. I’m sorry.”
 o.o.o.o.o.o
 “Here goes nothing.” Natsu picked up his twenty-sided die – bright red, flecked with gold – and shifted it between his fingers a few times before tossing it into the center of the table.
The room was eerily silent as the dice rolled. Gray’s chest was tight with the emotions of the roleplay – despite it not being real, the thought of Natsu sacrificing himself for everyone made him desperately sad.
“C’monnnn,” Natsu whispered under his breath. The dice spun once more, then landed next to Gray’s coffee cup – on a 20.
 o.o.o.o.o.o
 “It’s not your fault,” Gray reassured Sting, who slumped down onto his knees as well. “It was his cho—”
Natsu’s hand twitched in his.
Gray looked down, eyes widening as Natsu’s fingers trembled, then weakly wrapped around his own. Natsu’s chest rose with a shallow, shuddering breath, and relief and joy flooded through Gray as his eyes slowly fluttered open.
“Did…” Natsu’s voice was raspy as his gaze tracked from Sting to Gray. “Did it… work?”
“Yes,” Gray squeezed his hand tightly. “Yes, you stupid fucking idiot. Don’t you dare ever do anything like that again, you absolute moron.” The angry words were tempered by a wet laugh of relief. Gray ran a thin layer of ice across the burns on Natsu’s face and arms and he sighed in relief. “Can you move? We should get out of here.”
“Ugh.” Natsu took another shallow breath and tried to push himself up on his elbow. When he wobbled unsteadily, Gray put an arm around his shoulders and helped him up.
“I’m gonna go get Rogue,” Sting said. “I’m glad you’re alive. Thank you.” He squeezed Natsu’s shoulder, giving him a grateful look before heading back over to the other side of the roof.
Gray pulled Natsu as close as possible, being careful to avoid his wounds. “You’re an idiot,” he said again. “I thought you were dead.”
“I thought I was too,” Natsu admitted. He sighed and leaned forward, pressing his forehead to Gray’s shoulder. “I’m glad I’m not, though.”
“Me too,” Gray whispered before nudging Natsu’s chin up and kissing him.
Natsu made a soft, happy sound, returning the kiss and gripping Gray’s robes as tightly as he could. “Gray—”
“Shut up.” Gray shook his head and kissed Natsu again. “You’re not dead and neither am I so just shut the hell up and kiss me.”
 o.o.o.o.o.o
 “Gaaaaaaaaaay,” Sting whispered, laughing as Natsu punched him in the shoulder. He was still looking at Gray with pink cheeks and the widest smile Gray had ever seen.
“You all make your way slowly down the stairs,” Erza interrupted, “supporting each other as you limp back out into the forest. The dark clouds begin to part as the sun breaks through, filling you with hope and warmth. Despite your wounds and your exhaustion, you are content, knowing that your quest was fulfilled, and you saved the world from a hellish nightmare.” She closed her notebook with a flourish. “And that’s the end of that campaign!”
“That was awesome,” Sting said. “I can’t believe we all survived.”
“Barely,” Rogue added. “Pretty sure my arm was about to fall off.”
“Hey, at least you didn’t get blown up,” Natsu said indignantly.
“I believe that was your choice,” Rogue said, laughing. “And you got a kiss out of it.”
“Worth it,” Natsu agreed.
The rest of the evening was spent laughing at each other and retelling the best parts of their adventures, and by the time everyone was ready to leave, it was almost one in the morning.
“Hey.” Natsu caught Gray’s hand as he started to head upstairs after the other three. “Do…” He hesitated, looking at the floor. “Do you wanna stay? I mean, I can drive you home if you want, of course, I just thought—”
“Yes.” Gray waited until Sting, Rogue, and Erza were up the stairs before pulling Natsu close and kissing him. He ran a hand through Natsu’s hair, brushing his messy bangs out of his face and bumping their noses together. “But this time we get to sleep in your bed instead of the couch.”
Natsu laughed, kissing Gray’s cheek and nudging him upstairs. “Deal,” he said.
Once everyone was gone, it didn’t take long to get ready for bed. Gray yawned as he shifted over, letting Natsu curl up next to him with his head resting on Gray’s shoulder. He made a soft sound as Natsu slipped a hand under his shirt, tracing gentle circles on his hip.
“I’m glad Sting invited me to play with you guys,” Gray said quietly, tipping Natsus chin up to kiss him again. Natsu sighed contentedly and cuddled closer as he ran his tongue along Gray’s lower lip.
“Me too,” he murmured between kisses. “And I can’t wait for the next adventure.”

Note
Oooo, #7 please!
Yaaaas! I could scream about my OTPS until the end of time. Keep in mind that these are kinda normie, and more interesting ships of mine fall under the alternate question of rarepairs, so if you’re interested, someone ask ;)
Number Ten- Roxas and Xion
Tumblr media
Kingdom Hearts is one of my all-time favorite game series. I actually began with Days, and Roxas has had my heart ever since then. Roxas and Xion’s relationship is just so pure and devoted, and it just has me some kind of way.
Number Nine- Renzo Shima and Izumo Kamiki
Tumblr media
(Ugh, there are no good GIFs of the two of them, so ignore Rin standing there like a moron and focus on my beautiful pink-haired boy and his purple-haired girlfriend).
The manga could still go many ways at this point, but ever since their initial interactions, I just loved the idea of the two together. Kamiki is so serious and no-nonsense, while Renzo is just all-nonsense. Absolute perfection. Kamiki’s arc in particular had me feeling some kind of way about them, urgh, my heart!
Number Eight- Gray Fullbuster and Juvia Lockser
Tumblr media
Want to talk about made for each other? These fools. I could write a thesis just on the ways they’ve grown as characters just by interacting with each other. I mean, we’re just practically waiting for Gray to confess his love to her any chapter now! Juvia has matured a lot from “crazy stalker” and honestly, you go, sis. Their love is so deep and pure and it just makes me want to cry. I love them.
Number Seven- Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia
Tumblr media
Ugh, another match made in Heaven. I could go on for days. Any implications of romance aside, their relationship is still so deep and loving and meaningful that it just brings a tear to my eye. You want to talk about ultimate trust and devotion? These two, right here. They are the literal definition of ride or die. My heart.
Number Six- Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga
Tumblr media
Though the writing ultimately failed them, I still love this ship. Potential-wise, they are gorgeous. Two cute beans being cute together? Holy shit! Plus, I love that Naruto is an inspiration to Hinata and I love to think that he encourages her growth, and honestly, Hinata is the ultimate partner for him. He needs someone who can stand behind him and be a source of strength when he begins to doubt himself. They lift each other up in their own unique ways, and it’s just magical. Plus, they are so shy and domestic. Goals.
Number Five- Gajeel Redfox and Levy McGarden
Tumblr media
“You’re small, so stay beside me”? FUCKING ICONIC. To be honest, I always fancied the two based on the subtle hints Mashima gave us, but when that arc hit, man, I was on this ship for life. Then the kiss when he was drowning? The tearful confession when he thought he was going to die? Ugh, man, I’m in my feels. “The big, buff grumpy man is soft for his small wife” is the ultimate trope, confirmed.
Number Four- Sanji and Nami
Tumblr media
Honestly, most of the reason I like this ship is just pure aesthetic. I mean, look at them. Beautiful couple. Of course, at the heart of it all is how they treat one another. Sanji and Nami have such subtle, interwoven, masterful nuance that it’s hard not to envision some kind of connection between them. I love them!
Number Three- Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket was the first anime I ever watched in entirety and the first manga I ever read. I was so excited to hear it was remastered for its anniversary, and that the anime would hopefully span the length of the manga! Honestly, this romance defined a generation. The way Kyo falling in love with her is just so masterfully written that it just makes me soft. God, my heart.
Number Two- Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro
Tumblr media
This one snuck up on me. Before the infamous chapter, I fancied the two; their interactions were fun and aesthetically they’re an interesting combo, but that scene? Kaminari looking into the distance as he thought of the person most important to him, and it was her? Fucking blastoff, man, right up here. I love them so much it hurts. I want nothing but good things for them. I’m crying.
Number One- Shikamaru Nara and Temari
Tumblr media
Ultimate OTP. I will ship them in Hell. The most well-written and nuanced relationship in Naruto and I will die on this hill. They are just such a combo, two dorks who know nothing about love but somehow bungle into it anyway. The looks. The words. The subtlety of blossoming feelings all beginning with mutual respect. Perfection. 100,000,000/10.
Honorable mentions: Roy Mustang x Riza (FullMetal Alchemist), Sora x Kairi (Kingdom Hearts), Uryu Ishida x Orihime Inoue (Bleach), Ichigo Kurosaki x Orihime Inoue (Bleach), Erza Scarlet x Jellal Hernandez (Fairy Tail), Ban x Elaine (The Seven Deadly Sins), Katsuki Bakugo x Ochako Uraraka (My Hero Academia), Izuku Midoriya x Ochako Uraraka (My Hero Academia), Shoto Todoroki x Momo Yaoyaorozu (My Hero Academia)

-----
It wasn’t what he wanted to hear.
It opened the path to dreams and fears Natsu thought he had shoved deep inside to rot and be forgotten.
“There’s this really good job, and it’s out farther than I’ve traveled before; I think it’s a good chance to find Aquarius!”
How could something sound so positive and be so horrible all at once?
“Awesome! Let’s get Happy and go already!”
“Uhmm… about that…”
The fire in his belly was drenched to soaking embers with the fewest of words.
“You’re not coming with me.”
Just a few months after the war. A few months of tepid peace, rebuilding and settling down into a pattern many hadn’t enjoyed in what felt like years. The Alvarez War was not a long one. It would not go down in the history books as a 100 years war, but the survivors certainly felt aged. Time slowly crawled away, eroding the burdens and worries with tiny chips from a well-worn chisel. Many Guild Members fell back to their routine as if nothing had changed.
Others… looked upon the rest of their life with a newfound goal. Lucy had been hiding away in her apartment, diligently writing every chance she could. When she wasn’t, Lucy was at the guild, staring at the newly added Job postings with an intensified interest. Many times Natsu offered for them to head out, leave Magnolia for a few jobs- revert back to a pattern they could be comfortable with.
She denied them each time. At one point, Happy even claimed she was ‘avoiding’ them, and while that thought forced a frown from Natsu, Lucy had denied it fervently.  However, seeing her eyes gleam, excitement pulling just beneath the surface, threatening to explode while fingers all but pinched and crinkled the request in her hands, Natsu realized the truth.
Lucy wasn’t avoiding- she was planning.
“Hah- good one Lucy,” He forced out, laughing at what he hoped to be a joke, “But we’re always a team, and teams go together!”
Her silence screamed volumes. Shoulders tensed under the weight of his own arm as Natsu leaned on her, desperately trying to find the lie in her words. There was none.  Sheepishly, she pulled away from his proximity, guilt suffusing her features now that he could look at her better. Folding the request, Lucy stuffed it in her purse, bottom lip pulling beneath her teeth as she nibbled worriedly against it.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. They were a team, now more than ever! Even if Erza, Gray or Wendy didn’t come along (but of course they should if available-), they were supposed to do all their jobs together! Isn’t that what things were culminating to for all these years? Didn’t Lucy used to wait for him to be ready for jobs so they could go together? Didn’t he and Happy always find the ones with rewards that would best help her with her rent? That was how things went, and how he had always expected them to go.
“I’m not kidding.” Her tercid tone froze him better than Gray’s ice ever could, smile dropping as he stared.  Natsu could hear the tapping of her foot against the hardwood, echoing above the den of chatter in the hall. If he hadn’t been distracted by the strange words falling from her mouth, he would have noticed all present were creening their heads over, desperately trying to listen in.
“I want to do this for me.” Lucy pressed on, sighing as if all her earlier willpower had drained. “I’ve already talked to my landlady about it and she’s willing to put a stop to my rent payments. Just as long as I do a downpayment before leaving. I can do that. And then I won’t have to worry for months!”
Months? She was talking as if- Natsu’s mouth felt dry and a low whine escaped him, “You’re talkin’ like this job is gonna take ya’ forever, Lucy-”
“It is!” Lucy snapped, pointing a finger at him, “No offense, Natsu, but my world does NOT revolve around you. I have goals, plans! And I intend to see them through. This job isn’t supposed to take a long time, but it’s in a good place to search for Aquarius and that’s exactly what I intend to do! Alone.”
The icy tone in her voice was throwing him off. Why did she sound so bitter, so angry? There were many reasons Natsu could come up with (all revolving around the separation she suffered from breaking her key), but not a single one explained the treatment he was currently getting. Had he… done something to upset her?
Eyes glanced to the telltale marks of an old corruption spidering up her arm and Natsu’s stomach churned. Though Gray had protected her from the Book of E.N.D. the slight hints of damage were still there. While he didn’t want to consider how his own weakness could have caused those damages, Natsu was realizing that maybe he had more to own up to.
“Look, Lucy, I-” how could he even explain this uncomfortable feeling in his chest? She was strong enough to take care of herself, that he knew, but leaving for months? Where he couldn’t be there in case she needed him? Where they couldn’t laugh and tease or just enjoy the life they had now that the biggest threat in their lives was over?
“I don’t get why ya think ya can just leave me alone like that.”
Those were not the right words to say and Natsu was unprepared for the bitter dam he’d broke loose.
Lucy had gone silent, jaw open- looking as if she’d been slapped. Blinking her eyes rapidly, she struggled to form words, Natsu’s own had fallen from his lips without truly thinking about it and he crossed his arms stubbornly. Since they helped bring the Guild back together, after all they fought and struggled for, she was wanting to just… run off on her own? He didn’t like it. He didn’t have a way to explain why it left a bad taste in his mouth, but it did- and he saw no reason why he shouldn’t say so.
“.... You,” She seethed, voice gutterral, rising in volume as she took a step forward, right into his space, poking a digit into his chest with so much force, he almost stepped back. Pink brows rose under the fringe of his hair as Natsu stared in shock,  not expecting the absolute rage in Lucy’s eyes, “-Inconsiderate. JERK!”
He stepped back then- forced to by her hand shoving him, advancing against him as he realized, too late, what he had done. Tears were glistening in the corner of her eyes. From sadness? Anger?  Natsu couldn’t get a read on the fluctuating emotions as her pointed nail dug briefly into his skin through the fabric of his jacket.  “Oi- Lucy! Hold up there- “
She interrupted, “Don’t you TRY and calm me down!” She finally backed off, dark gaze turning towards the rest of the guild, many of the eavesdroppers glanced away sheepishly- whistling to themselves. Others (Like Mirajane and Erza) goggled from their locations with wide, disappointed eyes. Lucy didn’t seem to notice. Not then. And she wouldn’t for awhile. “Don’t you remember what I told you back in Amefurashi Village? How I felt during the entire YEAR you had left?!” Her voice was shaky and it lost its loud tempo with every word, cracking when she released the explosion bubbling at the tip of her tongue. “You don’t get to tell me if I can leave you alone or not. I don’t care what’s happened since then. You don’t get to say that. Not now. Not. ever.”
Natsu felt his mouth run dry, his blood cold. It wasn’t a feeling he was used to, but the wind had been knocked from him by Lucy’s words as his eyes darted back and forth between her and the guild around them, unsure of what he could say. Yes, he remembered Amefurashi Village. The bitterness in her tone when she had snapped at him for his unthinking words against Gray. Juvia had interrupted their moment of tension, but that didn’t overlap his memory. The look on Lucy’s face was all he needed to cement it into his mind.
Not only that, but the memory of her forlorn expression as she slept, finally relieved to see him and Happy again, with only a wall of all her attempts for contact to keep her company. Those memories came hand in hand and Lucy’s reminder stole all words from him. In that moment he realized just how far he had overstepped. “- Lucy, I didn’t mean that-”
She cut him off with a finger pointing to his nose, practically hissing in her rage. “You know what? I don’t want to hear it!”
The click-clack of her heels echoed through the hall. Lucy turned from him in one fluid motion, her words stabbing him like tiny knives with each stomp against the wood floor. The silence in the Guild was palpable, interrupted only by the slam of the doors, as she made her exit. The walls shook and every interloper took in a breath, their gazes falling on Natsu in bafflement.
“You really stuck your foot in a pile of it now.” Macao mumbled, scratching his neck awkwardly.
“Ehh, you shouldn’t worry too much about it,” Wakaba joined in, “Girl’s like to blow up, but they get over it quickly enough. Even my wife- “ He was silenced by a sharp elbow to his ribs from Macao.
Natsu barely heard either of them. His head was buzzing from Lucy’s words. It wasn’t her anger that floored him. Oh no, he could handle that- he could accept her frustration.  This wasn’t just anger or a bomb exploding to calm down later. He had seen what no one else had, the glitter of pain in her narrowed eyes. The hint of water shining in the irises before she forcefully blinked them back as she turned away. She hadn’t stomped off from her anger. Lucy had left to hide her tears.
He had hurt her. Natsu had hurt Lucy. He felt like vomiting.
At first, Natsu considered chasing after her, already stepping forward to start his pursuit- but a quick snap of his name from Erza, froze him in place, jaw clenching tight as his teeth ground together. It was hard not to continue, his clenched fists were testament to the inner struggle to rush after his best team mate and make everything right again, but how?
“While I absolutely believe she deserves an apology,” Erza said, moving to his side , her voice was harsh, angry and Natsu didn’t blame her, “I don’t agree with you charging after her like this. Give her the space she obviously wants and think for a change, won’t you?”
Natsu didn’t have it in him to argue the jab. His energy deflated, eyes meeting Happy’s from the nearest counter. The blue Exceed had barely begun eating the fish he’d been given, worry and hurt distracting him. With a noncommittal shrug, he moved to sit by his flying partner, shoulders sagging as a puff of steam blew from his lips. It would have been so easy to turn around and challenge Erza just then, but the idea was an old one, something he’d done often in the past to release emotions he dared not speak out loud.
Often he would release his anger, sadness, inner fears and loss of hope, into the brawls he instigated and joined. It was a quick release that refreshed him and reminded Natsu that his heart was still beating, that he and those around him were still alive. He could shovel his concerns and what had bothered him and others under a thick rug in his mind after a good fight- finding other ways to bring smiles to his and everyone's faces.
How often had he been kicked from Lucy’s apartment, suffered a loss or grew angry at some random enemy mistreating her, only to turn around and fight Gray and Gajeel to calm down- ? How often did he return to Lucy with a goofy grin, jokes and crazy antics to distract her and reassure her that everything would be okay? Too often. He couldn’t count the times on his fingers. (Not even his toes for that matter.)
“Way to go, Flame Brain,” Gray said from behind, voice cold and taunting. “I’d have punched you if I were Lucy. How stupid can you get?”
Natsu knew what Gray was doing. The insult was well-deserved, but also done with purpose. It was the very invitation Natsu often took and needed, but rather than stride through the wide open door of Gray’s challenge, he merely tilted his head to glance at his fellow mage and frowned. He didn’t have the energy. Not now. It had seeped through his bones the very moment Lucy had slammed the door.
“Gray,” Erza snapped, causing the other mage to freeze in place, “Not.now.”
“Uh- yeah, right. Sorry!”
Natsu’s answer was to slam his head against the counter and groan.
-
The day had looked to be a good one. With a bright sun, hardly any clouds and perfect wind to keep a person cool. With the sun just below the horizon and stars starting to blink out in the sky, the mood was a complete one-eighty.  Erza hadn’t allowed Natsu to leave until she was certain Natsu knew what he wanted to. (“There will be NO bothering Lucy if you’re going to speak thoughtlessly again!”)  It was hard to be patient, and while he craved the distraction of a good brawl, Natsu had listlessly sulked at the bar instead.
Now, he wondered if he needed a few more hours to sulk before he ventured into Lucy’s apartment. Coming up to the building he could recognize blindfolded, he readjusted his scarf and grimaced.
“You know you can just try in the morning, Natsu.” Happy said. He stood at Natsu’s feet, his own frown on his face while he glanced towards Lucy’s window. “I’m sure she’ll be willing to forgive you then! Oh, we can even bring her a gift!”
That could possibly work, but Natsu had a feeling he knew exactly what sort of gift Happy had in mind.
“A big fish!”
Yup.
 Despite the low mood, Natsu grinned. Count on Happy to help even just a little. Kneeling down to pat the Exceed on his blue head, he shook his head and tilted his gaze towards the window he often climbed through. “I don’t think that’s gonna work this time, buddy.  And I think I’ve avoided this long enough.”
“What do you mean?” Happy blinked owlishly, but Natsu didn’t give an explanation. The two had been through so much and stayed by each other the year he had traveled. Above everyone, Happy knew and understood his fears and intentions, but that understanding could only go so far.
“Don’t worry about it.” Stretching, he rolled his shoulders and pointed towards his goal. “Think you can get me up there? Probably best you don’t stay for this just in case, but I’ll send ya’ a signal when the coast is clear!” “Aye, sir!” The rustling of magic to unfurl his wings was swift, and with well-timed practice, the two were in the air and elevated to the window of Lucy’s bedroom. So many times she had told him to use the door and there had been a few times he had actually listened - when he got there first.
Most of his window attempts were done just to tease her after her initial complaints, at some point, his blonde partner had stopped complaining and often expected his entrances. Today, he hoped for similar. Natsu had never feared she would lock the windows on him before, but the worry niggled into the back of his brain. It would be far too easy to bust it open if he’d been out for more reasons to anger his partner, but this was a mission to clear the air, not exacerbate their issues.
Natsu felt relief surge through him as the window clicked open. She hadn’t locked it after all! Exhaling, he lifted his thumb to happy and waved him off. With a whispered ‘good luck!’, his partner flew  off in the direction of the guild and Natsu steeled himself for the true challenge of the night. He slid the frame upward and quickly moved in, careful not to rustle the mattress or knock items over.
He was surprised not to find her at her desk. Even more so stunned at the amount of papers littering the floor, some crumpled and others torn. Lucy had never been one to be messy. (That was his job!)  Natsu’s stomach churned at the realization that his actions caused such a change in her own routine and he quickly examined the rest of the room, trying to pinpoint his teammate’s location.  The lights had yet to be lit, casting dark shadows over the furniture and he clicked his tongue.  “ - Lucy? Are, are ya’ here?”
He could smell her, but figured he’d ask. The sudden sniffle from the front of her couch caught his attention and slowly, a disheveled blonde peered up from the cushions, eyeing him with narrowed eyes.  “Go away, Natsu.”
He almost stepped back through the window, but closed it behind him as he began his trek across the room. She told him to go away, and many times in the past he had ignored such orders until she’d thrown him out. Age had told him to take her words into account more often, but the fact that she hadn’t barred his entrance was all the communication he needed.  Lucy would be willing to talk.. If he only had the right words.
“I wanted to-” He began, fumbling over his words, “I just wanted to say that…. Uh- I didn’t mean to, that is-” Where had this rambling come from? Snorting, he took another step towards her and muttered, “I wanted t’say sorry.”
A heavy silence filled the air. Lucy’s eyes stayed focus on him as she kept her face pressed against the back of her seat. The low-light had made features hard to distinguish at first, but now Natsu could see the puffiness and redness in her gaze. She wasn’t at present, but he knew tears had stained those cheeks some time ago. It doubled the tumultuous sickness in his stomach and he struggled to swallow.
Finally, Lucy moved, turning her back to him to settle herself into the cushion. She didn’t repeat her earlier order and her fingers drummed along her arms impatiently. With a huff, Lucy said, `` - do you even know what you’re apologizing for?”
Oh he knew, but it made his throat thicken all over again- as if a ball had been lodged into his throat, suffocating the five inside, smothering him. Why were emotions and words so difficult to say?
“You don’t do you?” Lucy’s voice cracked, he couldn’t see her face, but Natsu could picture it as if she were standing before him. Her words came out in waves, full of emotion- anger, sadness, just at the cusp of spilling out. “You just think, you can waltz right in here, apologizing and things are going to go back to normal so you can tease me again and have a grand ole time, but you’re wrong! Not this time. We can’t ALWAYS pretend things aren’t upsetting us, you know!”
She was rambling, giving Natsu the answer to his earlier thoughts. Lucy had always rambled when upset, embarrassed even, but Natsu could hear the rise of tone and knew everything he intended would be kicked out the window if he didn’t act fast, but what could he do? What would he do?  What… what would Lucy do?
Natsu had always been better with actions than words and he crossed the floor in a few steps, hearing Lucy’s words, but not processing them as he moved. In a flurry of movement that sent the tassels of his scarf swooping over her blonde head. His arms encircling her shoulders from behind, cut off all complaints as she choked on her words. Her scent was overpowering, with his nose pressed against the back of her ear, feeling the softness of her hair.
“I- .. Natsu-” Lucy swallowed, tried to find more words as her face slowly began to turn a few shades red, “What are you doing?”
“I’m sorry.” He said. His tone absolute. It wasn’t enough. He knew it wasn’t, but the firmness, the fact he wasn’t crawling on the floor in an attempt to make it funny, deviate with humor,  this was him: serious.
“Y-you can’t just h-hug me and make it all go away,” She hiccupped and Natsu realized the emotions were spilling over again, but he chose not to notice. Lucy was embarrassed and confused enough, without his teasing. His grip only tightened, a gentle squeeze as he lowered his voice.
“I know.” He said. “It ain’t like I think this is enough, I just… I really suck at this, Lucy, and I’m not sure if there’s anything I can say t’make it better.” He was sure going to try despite his doubts. “I remember everything ya’ said back then. Ya’ looked so,” Bitter, hurt, annoyed, “I HAD to leave then. At least I thought I did.”
There were many nights he wondered if he had made a mistake. It wasn’t often that Natsu questioned his decisions, usually trusting his gut decisions to lead him down the right track, but after his return? Guilt ate at him like a virus, but he had shoved it away the same as he had done for every negative feeling he had felt for years. How could he be strong if he let things get to him? How could he be dependable? The one Lucy and everyone else could always count on? Back then, he felt there was no other way and even now, breaking through his own inadequacies made his words jumble over themselves.
“No.” Lucy answered, she sniffled and wiped her eyes. “You didn’t. You could have stayed. You could have been honest or- or… did more than leave me a note! You have no idea how long I looked for you that day! How much I WANTED to go too and you- !!!”
She fell silent, biting back her words as she untangled herself from his arms. It left a strange sensation of emptiness within him, but he didn’t try to pull her back. Lucy was turning to face him, the extent of her emotions plain on her face. Red cheeks from tears and embarrassment he first noticed, but her bottom lip was quivering, constantly being gnawed between her teeth. It took everything in his body not to lean further to pull her lip down, saving it from the assault. Now wasn’t the time.
“You already know I lost Aquarius,” She stated, arms crossing while her shoulders quivered. “You know how important she is to me, Natsu. What ALL my spirits mean to me. And I.. I- … “ Her tears dribbled down, dripping off her chin and an almost frantic, tragic whine issued with her next words, “I broke her to save you! To save Everyone!”
That was it, the dam of strength, the final resolve. It bashed against the hammer of her words and she sobbed, covering her face from the force of her tears. “I wasn’t strong enough and had to-to… do that to her, and you just.. You .. left and I was so.. So…”
Natsu knew without her having to finish: Alone.
He licked his lips, attempting to dislodge the words on the tip of his tongue. Her words were like blows striking against him, but with a fierce glare, he jumped over the couch, grasping her shoulders to regain her focus as he hissed, “Lucy! You’re not weak. You took on Tartaros by yourself and saved all our asses! I wasn’t there for it, but I knew it when I came to. I just knew it. Don’t blame yourself for that!”
Accuse me. I’m the one to blame. I’m the one who left. I’m the one who ran. “I’m the one who wasn’t strong, I couldn’t protect you. I couldn’t protect anyone- I couldn’t save my Dad!” When did his own tears start to fall? They stung his eyes, burned like his fire, but he forced his gaze on her, refused to blink.
He couldn’t save Igneel. That was the truth. He had to stand there and watch as Acnologia ripped his father in half. Even after the death of the Dragon King, the pain and the memory stung like a thousand knives, it took his breath away. Inhaling sharply, his fingers lost their grip, falling loosely to his side. Natsu could hardly see the look on Lucy’s face through his blurred eyes. “What… what good was I t’anyone like that Lucy? I keep.. I keep goin’ through it over and over again, but there was nothing I could do. And if I took ya’ with me? Then I’d want to go home so much more, want to goof off, not take things seriously, I couldn’t.. I… I didn’t think I was good enough to be anyone’s partner then Lucy. I-”
I made a mistake. I know I did.  “I didn’t realize how stupid I was until I came back- I still don’t know if I’d do anything different, but I know I messed up, I know I did- but…”
A softness of slim digits interrupted him, reaching out to straight his scarf before Lucy’s face crashed against his chest, fingers digging into the fabric like a lifeline. She was in his arms again and he wasted no time in holding her close. This was a comfort. This was something they both needed, and he sucked in more air, matching Lucy sniffle for sniffle. He hated crying. Hated showing emotion. He hated seeing her cry even more.
“We’re both stupid.” She mumbled, but no explanation came. Not then. Emotions spilled between them then. No words, only the comfort of each other as their bodies slid to the couch- grips tight around the other as they released the pent of feelings they had buried inside their hearts for over a year.  It was a new experience for Natsu- having only unloaded his full emotions to Happy during their times away from the Guild, but with Lucy? Somehow, the release felt somehow… cathartic. Like a rubber band snapping back into place after being strung tight for too long.
When their tears dried, sobs settled and breaths grew even, Natsu and Lucy were tangled together on her couch. Partially laying atop him, Lucy breathed into his neck, and his legs felt stiff from the awkward angle, but he kept his hold against her. The room had grown darker, bringing the silence of night down upon the room, but he could light the room later.
Absentmindedly, his fingers ran through her golden locks. It was a soothing sensation, one that calmed him. Lucy’s body relaxed at the movements and she sucked in air she couldn’t claim through her earlier sobs. With the well of their emotions now emptied, the explosion changed to a weariness that threatened to put the two to sleep.
“Lucy?” Natsu broke the silence, fingers pausing in their movement as he stared at the ceiling so his eyes could adjust to the light.
It took her a moment before she answered, as if the edges of sleep were fighting to keep her quiet. She didn’t bother moving her head, certain he’d hear regardless. “Mmm, what is it?”
“Please take me and Happy with you.”
She stiffened and the room grew tense again. Natsu bit his tongue, suddenly anxious. Instead of snapping as he expected, she pushed up to look him in the eye, tired eyes waiting. “Why?”
More words, but he’d already emptied himself out. What more could he say? He wet his lips, eyes flicked to the wall and back again as he wiped his palms on the cushion beneath him. “It hurt being away from you.” He admitted, cheeks heating up against his will, “and you were upset too. I just… think-” words she had spoken years ago sprang to his mind and he jumped on them, “I think it’s better when we’re together.”
Was it unfair? Perhaps, but he meant it. Meant it as much as she on the day she had spoke those words. He didn’t doubt she felt the same. He was positive she did, and the way her lips finally curved into a small smile assured him of that.
“You know, I wanted to go alone so I could try and get stronger and finish my book,” She said, blowing a strand of hair from her face. It fell back a moment later and she frowned. “I don’t know if I’ll find Aquarius when I go, but I want to believe I will. I didn’t just decide to go on my own to spite you or anything.”
“I know.”  Natsu said. He reached up to tuck the strand behind her ear, gaze faltering. “If you’re sure you don’t want me and Happy with you, fine. I’ll accept it. I just…”
Like her, he didn’t want to feel alone. With the guild, the rest of their team, he was never truly alone, he knew that. Just as Lucy had her spirits, but somehow things felt duller, less bright, when the three of them were apart. He felt it, but did she?
She flopped against him, the tips of her ears bright red, but the sudden movement took the breath out of him. Natsu tilted his head and waited, wondering if this lack of response was her way of denying him again. He would relent, if that was the case, but he wasn’t the greatest at reading her, especially in moments like these. Just when he was about to accept the silence as an ‘I’ll answer in the morning’ and close his eyes, Lucy gave her answer.
“Okay.”
“What?” Even with great hearing, that didn’t mean he could always trust what he heard.
Lucy huffed, a soft giggle breathing against his ear. “You both can come. - but I lead, got it?”
Exhilaration filled him and he laughed- relief echoing into the room like a heated balm. His chest heaved from his boisterous cackle and his arms settled around her once again. Later, she might struggle away from him in embarrassment. Morning would come and they’d be just as they were before- best friends, with maybe a hint of more, maybe not.
For now, they just were- and Natsu couldn’t be happier.
“You’re the boss.”
Both dozing off, emotions and energy spent- Natsu took one last glance towards Lucy as her breathing grew even, face tilted to reveal the flushed, puffy cheeks. He readjusted them both for his legs to fit over the armrest and yawned. Unfortunately, just as sleep was about to take him, he peeked one eye open towards the window and realized he hadn’t signaled Happy as he said he would. Natsu was sure his partner would chew him out for the transgression come morning.
He spared another, tired glance at Lucy and figured it was worth it.

I’m Gonna Put a Spell on You
@thewritingstar Part two of your @kuroshironekoserver secret Santa exchange piece!!
summary: Witch Academy AU. Juvia is frustrated that her relationship with Gray hasn’t gone anywhere since they had started dating and plans to fix it with the help of Lucy as the holiday season sweeps over the school. However, these two young witches have no idea of the consequences that come with love spells. Fluff & comedy & hurt/comfort pairings: Gruvia, Nalu, BROtp Luvia (julu) part 2 of 7: Incantation Accident:
Lucy finds out just how finicky magic can really be as the situation gets progressively more... bright when Natsu is around :)
When Lucy had finally returned to her chambers that night, she had fallen asleep almost instantly. Though, the blonde barely felt like she had a wink of sleep. Part of her knew that it was because her and Juvia had stayed up too late - the two girls not coming into their dormitory until the sun was just about to peek its head over the horizon - but there was something different about this exhaustion. Her eyes stung as the light filtered into the room, her shoulders sagging as a weight rested on her shoulders and her magic could barely even offer up a spark.
The witch was absolutely drained.
Reluctantly, Lucy pulled herself out of bed to the dining hall, quickly clipping on her familiars vessel to the loophole of her belt. Most mages could form the entity of the soul of their familiar before them or had their familiar come to them in a physical form. Every skill level of witch and wizards was different as well as their familiars.
Lucy frowned as she felt Plue through her magic. The blonde could still only bring her life-long companion to her if she used an inanimate object. She was stuck at the basic level of familiar magic and the thought of it always irked her.
Natsu never missed a beat when he saw that look take over her features, telling her that it wasn’t her fault - She hasn’t been exposed to magic like the other students. Yet, Lucy always felt her mood deflate when the subject was brought up. Even if her father had forbidden magic from her when she was younger, she should still be able to conjure up Plue’s spiritual form.
The young witch shook her head as she saw her friends gathered at the end of the furthest table, not wanting Natsu to offer her another one of his ‘talks’. The dining hall was practically empty, but they still kept their own spot that they had sat ever since they had started at Fairy Tail Academy. Though, there were a few more spaces filled around them now, it still felt like that first day when Lucy had gravy splattered all over her robes and in her hair by Natsu and Gray.
Erza had apologised immediately and then the two boys had followed suit - with a fierce glare sent by their fiery friend to help them get on with it. The rest was history.
The blonde waved to the girls, a wide grin spreading on her lips as she took her seat beside Juvia, quietly whispering to her partner in crime. “So, did you make it yet?”
Her friend barely even looked at her, her blue eyes trained on Gray and the glass beside his breakfast. The raven haired teen was resting his head on the wooden table. He always took the longest to finally wake up.
“Yes,” Juvia murmured, her hand shooting out to grasp Lucy’s as soon as the young witch sat down. “ Juvia couldn’t sleep so she went straight to the gardens. I.. I poured it into his drink when he wasn’t looking.”
Lucy’s brown eyes widened. “Has he drank-”
“Yes,” Juvia cut in, “As soon as he sat down, but h-he just put his head on the table.. Does… Does Lucy think its failed?”
She frowned, her eyes slipping to the boy across from them who had still yet to greet her. “I’m sure-” Lucy started but she was cut off as two arms encircled her, the scent of ash and cinnamon filling her nose. She sucked in a short breath.
“Hey Lucy.” A familiar voice breathed from beside her ear and goosebumps began to rise on the back of her neck. “Nice of ya to finally get up and join us.”
“N-Natsu,” she stuttered, heat flushing her cheeks a light pink. The arms tightened around her chest as he gave her a light squeeze causing the blonde to squirm in his hold. “How many times have I told you about personal space,” she cried and his soft chuckle filled her ears before her best friend finally pulled away.
Natsu ruffled her blonde hair. “Yeah, yeah. Respect the bubble and all that. I got it.”
“Then,” Lucy growled, “Why do you insist on breaking that bubble?” She turned in her seat, her brows narrowed as she scowled at the boy who had his arms crossed behind his head. He was already grinning down at her, his uniform disheveled much like the rest of his appearance. His shirt was crinkled and had ridden up his stomach to reveal tan skin and his robe had been loosely thrown over his shoulders.
However, that wasn’t what made the young witch's jaw go slack.
“Come on, Lucy. Lighten up would ya,” he teased, but she had no response.
She blinked. Then again. She even rubbed at her eyes, but she still couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Natsu’s smile faded. “Uh, Lucy-”
“W-Wha… What,” she sputtered. Her brown eyes still couldn’t believe what she was seeing. It was impossible. “What happened to you?”
“Luce, are you ok?”
Lucy ignored him, his voice faint as she still struggled to believe what she was seeing before her. “You’re.. You’re glowing!” She nearly yelled as she pointed at him.
The rest of the group turned to face her, except for Gray who kept his head down on the table. Usually they were used to this morning routine of flirting, as they all called it though Lucy refused it was anything of the sort, yet the blondes outburst had all heads turning to face the duo.
Natsu raised his hands in the air, a pink eyebrow rising as his face twisted into confusion. “Whoa,” he called out, “Are you sure you woke up on the right side of the bed this morning? You’re acting weirder than usual.” The mage laughed nervously, his green eyes looking to his friends for help as Lucy shook her head.
“No. You are definitely glowing, Natsu.” The blonde looked at her friends. “Tell him guys.”
The table all stared at Natsu, then to Lucy and finally offered each other a nervous look. They were hesitant as she waited on their response and the blondes face slowly became more desperate the longer they all stayed silent.
“Bunny girl has finally lost it,” Gajeel laughed and then yelped, his hand coming up to rub his arm as he glared at Levy beside him who kept her eyes trained on the blonde before them.
Lucy felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to Lisanna who sat on her other side. “Lucy… are you sure you’re okay?” Her blue eyes were full of concern as she looked at her friend and Lucy narrowed her brows.
“Yeah, Lu,” Levy piped up, “Maybe you should go see Porlyusica.”
The young witch shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut. “I’m fine.” She looked back up to Natsu, to the illuminating glow that surrounded his entire body. It reminded her of an angel in movies where an ethereal light would surround them. Except, this was real. She could see it plain as day.
“Is Lucy sure she got enough sleep last night?” Juvia whispered from beside her as their friends all looked at her as if she was crazy.
“I.. I’m not- He.. He is.” Lucy fell over her words as she tried to comprehend what was happening in this moment. It was true that she was tired, but Natsu… She couldn’t be seeing things. Lucy had stayed up countless of times and last night was no different apart from her drain in magic after the-
The witch froze in place.
“Love a sleeping violet lay.”
Her heart skipped a beat and her palms started to sweat, the dread making her stomach feel like a void.
“Eyes still covered and wander.”
Her brown eyes widened and she shook her head. She refused to believe it. Those words weren’t meant for her.
“Show thy love to thee. Shine the star and open thine heart.”
Lucy looked up at Natsu and the shine that was definitely coming from the boy. Her lips parted as she fisted her robes to stop her hands from shaking. It couldn’t be.
“To illuminate the one tis meant for me.”
Her mind flashed to when Juvia had spoken the incantation that she had found. To the magic that had hung thick in the air and how she felt the spark shoot up her spine. The signs were all there and yet, she refused to admit it. Her brown eyes turned glassy and she bit the inside of her cheek to try and keep her emotions in check, but her cheeks were already turning a harsh red.
“This… This can’t be happening,” Lucy whispered. She tried to concentrate on her breathing, her chest felt so tight that she couldn’t take in enough air. The only thing ringing in her mind was the last line of the spell. She knew exactly what it meant, but it couldn’t be. Not him. He couldn’t be… her soulmate.
“Lucy.”
She blinked and the tears that had built up in her vision cleared before slowly sliding down her cheeks. He was knelt right there in front of her, his hand cradled her cheek and his eyes swam with… fear?
“Just tell me what’s happening. I can fix this.”
She stared at her best friend. His green eyes never left her, his lips pulled into a frown as his thumb wiped away one of her tears, and the glow around him seemed to shine even brighter.
Lucy pulled away from him, shaking her head as his words turned into white noise. “I-I can’t...” she whimpered, standing up from her seat. Natsu reached out for her, but she was already running out of the dining hall.
“Lucy!” Natsu shouted, ready to go after her. Though, Juvia quickly placed a hand on his chest.
“Leave her, Natsu-san.” Her blue eyes were cold and the mage visibly shrunk back as he remembered just how scary Juvia had been when she had arrived from Phantom Lord. Though, he still pushed, refusing to let her stop him from going after her. Even if the witch did freak him out.
“She needs me!”
“No,” She cut in and there was an audible gasp from the table of their friends. Juvia eyed them, watching as Gajeel placed a hand over his mouth in shock. “It is Juvia that will help her now. Just… wait for her when she’s ready.”
The witch offered him an apologetic look and Natsu opened his mouth to counter her, but she had already begun to walk away - leaving the table of friends in an uncomfortable silence.
“I should go after them,” Levy murmured.
“I’m coming too.” Lisanna nodded at the petite girl, the two quickly scurrying after their friends.
The rest of the table sat, pushing food around with their forks as they didn’t know what to do. No one could offer up anything to say. They had all seen their fair share of problems as the years had gone by, but never something this.. Strange.
Natsu continued to stare after where his best friend had retreated in tears.
Gajeel looked at his friends in thought, red eyes piercing each of them before he crossed his arms. “Don’t worry. Juvia has got ya sorted.” He nodded to himself, seeming to verify his own statement.
Though, no one paid any mind to the teen, their eyes turning to Gray.
“Ju…” He groaned from where he was face down on the table, “Juvvii…”
The friends looked at him surprised, seemingly forgetting he was there after what they had witnessed with Lucy and Natsu.
“Ju… Juvii… Juvia..” His voice was strained, muffled as he spoke into the wood.
Natsu turned to the raven haired mage, his eye twitching as Gray seemed only to be finally waking up. If he couldn’t go after Lucy then he would find a way to vent his frustration and that was on his rival-friend-enemy-guy-thing.
“Oi, Fuck-wit,” he called, “Ya girlfriends not here so shut up before I shut you up with my fist.”
Though, Natsu nearly fell on his butt when Gray shot up unexpectedly, his dark eyes were wide as he desperately looked around. Natsu’s eyebrow raised and both he and Gajeel stared at their male friend in pure, utter bewilderment.
Gray’s eyes watered as he finally stopped searching and his fingers bit down into his palm as he shook. “Where is she,” he cried, looking directly at Natsu, “Where is Juvia-sama?”

Top 50 NaLu Anime Moments {Pt 3}
I am so sorry it took me so long to write this! This week has been a roller-coaster to me, especially since Tuesday. I got so busy, and every time I would log into tumblr, I would only look at my dashboard and have absolutely no energy left to write. Without any further delay, let me show you guys the rest of my top 50, and today we’re covering moments 30 through 21.
Part 2 can be found here.
30. “I’ll be lonely, you idiot!” (Ep 265).
Tumblr media
This moment still makes me so emotional. Like... i’ve said this before on my previous top 25 moments, so there’s nothing much to add, but I love this moment because it shows how much Lucy began to rely on Natsu. How much she needed his presence around her, despite always kicking him out and scolding him. And then to lose all that? Just like that? To be filled with such a huge sense of security, the certainty that someone will always be there for you, and to have that ensurance taken away from you? That must’ve hurt. That must’ve broken her heart and it’s no wonder she’s so upset with Natsu when he comes back (again, I get why Natsu had to leave and I’ve already given my thoughts on it, but I also get Lucy’s side) and must’ve stung extra harder bc she’d just lost Aquarius, something she also never thought would happen. But yeah, this is why I like this scene, despite it being sad. It was great character development for Lucy, showed the development in NaLu, and it also pushed the ship forward by giving if conflict and separation, which only resulted in bringing them closer in the future. Also, I also like how Natsu only left a note to Lucy and no one else. She really is his most precious person, along with Happy.
29. “Let’s save the tears for when we win.” (Ep 159).
Tumblr media
As a big sucker for moments where Natsu comforts Lucy, this one’s gotta be in the list. Despite being in a team of 5, despite her whole guild being there, only one person came to pick up Lucy and lift up her spirits and that was Natsu. It could’ve been anyone, really. Erza or Gray. But Mashima thought (and I agree) Natsu would make the most sense, because of how deep the NaLu relationship runs, to showcase how they’d grown even stronger since Tenrou Island, and it worked! Natsu, who’d once called Lucy useless to her face, coming up to her and telling her she was amazing, even though she lost? Lucy, who was always so annoyed with Natsu and his fighting, looking up to him with tears in her says saying “i’m all fired up”? That’s the kinda development we strive for.
28. “You’re Lucy of Fairy Tail, aren’t you?” (Ep 23).
Tumblr media
I swear, this ship makes me want to scream. And here we come back to a time when Natsu and Lucy were still growing as a team, and still didn’t know each other that well, but already had so much faith on one another. This, I feel, is the first time (after, you know, the tower jump) where it showed that they actually cared and understood each other, mostly Natsu, in this case. Everyone else told Lucy not to cry, not to blame herself because of what her father did, meanwhile, Natsu merely reminded her of who she was. Where she belonged to. And like Lucy said later in the arc, she believed her mother would want her to follow her heart and do what she wanted, and this was probably the first time someone other than Layla showed Lucy that her choice was hers to make, and hers only. Like i’ve said before, what Natsu said, what he did for her here, helped shape Lucy into the person she is today, as well as it’s what also helped Lucy to start relying more on Natsu emotionally, whereas she relied mostly on him physically, to protect her.
27. “Lucy!” (Ep 303).
Tumblr media
This moment... is much lower on my list here, whereas it was so high on the first one, but that’s mostly because my opinion has changed, as well as new moments have arrived that I loved much more, and some other moments too I now realize I took for granted, and took a high spot in my list. But nevertheless, it’s still a very special moment. And despite my problems with the animation, I have to admit that I like the desperation in Natsu’s eyes as he holds onto Lucy for dear life, after almost losing her (big sigh bc we know what happens a few eps later); and he even forgets about the other people around them: Mest, Brandish, even Happy! I like how she came first here to him, how he didn’t even hesitate before grabbing her. Now, how he came from that position to groping her boobs with all his might later, I can’t even explain, just... you know... Mashima.
26. Natsu and Lucy versus Jacob. (Ep 299).
Tumblr media
Listen, this... this is one of the funniest fights I’ve ever watched on anime. While I like the pacing better on the manga, I really liked the execution of it in the anime, and hearing Natsu and Lucy’s “dirty talk” was one of my dreams coming to life, lmao. Natsu and Lucy once again showing how great they are at teamwork, and why they work so damn well together, how their thoughts align and how their trust on each other plays a huge deal on their victory. Plus, hello, it’s this moment which gives Mavis the inspiration to defeat Zeref, so it’s an extra big moment, i’d say, despite being severely underrated. Still on topic, I liked how when Lucy was undressed in front of him, Natsu was like “how is this supposed to be hell?” and say what you want, but just because he didn’t blush didn’t mean he wasn’t enjoying that view.
25. “Thank you for protecting our future.” (Ep 187).
Tumblr media
Not really a NaLu NaLu moment, but still a very sweet NaLu moment. In case you don’t know (and for that reason, you should not be reading this list), the one in the picture is Future Lucy, and what makes this moment so special is that, even though that’s not present Lucy, it’s still his Lucy. He trusts her word completely and understand she effort she’s made, and all the horrors she’s been through, and he kneels down to the ground, craddles her head and presses his forehead to her, to express how grateful he is for what she’s done, and to show that he appreciates her, even if she’s not from his time. And this must’ve meant so much to this Lucy, because she lost her Natsu; she watched him die (the anime even does a little flashback), and she is back at the warmth and the softness only one person could give her, and she thought she’d never have that again. And then there he was, right in front of her, still the same man she’d always known. Still believing in her. Also, a small bonus: present Lucy is watching all this with a sweet smile and a soft blush on her cheeks.
24. “Don’t worry me like that.” (Ep 310).
Tumblr media
And now we’re back to me wanting to scream because of these, bc hey... look at this! How come these two f*ckers started a goddamn a relationship and not even realize it? Like, it’s not even possibly platonic at this point in the story! There’s no friendship that can explain this, especially when it’s purposely being parallel with Gruvia, a canon romantic ship, and especially because we know what led up to this moment. And then you have Lucy holding onto Natsu, so relieved that she found him and squeezing him closer to her, despite not knowing what happened to him or what he’d just done, and Natsu whispering her name, listening to her voice once again when he thought he’d never listen to it again, having her so close to him when he thought he’d lost her... and you want me to not ship that? You want to tell me that’s platonic? I can’t even. I literally can’t even. That’s all I have to say about this.
23. “I want a piggyback ride.” Drunk Lucy round 1. (OVA 4).
Tumblr media
While I love Lucy jumping on Natsu and wiggling her body onto his during the christmas ova, I have to admit this moment here has a special place in my heart, which makes it higher on the list. Maybe it’s because it was the first time we saw Lucy drunk, and was still a time when we started to really get NaLu moments, and Lucy’s feelings were still 50/50 to us, and then you get this, and Drunk Lucy is all f*cking over Natsu; she has hearts around her when she’s happy because she saw two Natsus, she makes him omelet (how? idk) and wants to feed it to him, is upset when she thinks he rejects it, wants him to make her purr... this alone should tell you a lot, is all touchy-feely with him, and basks in how warm he is, with her eyes closed. And Natsu, my boy... you coulda just run. You didn’t have to stay there and you didn’t have to obey her, lol. I bet he was freaked out because Lucy had never given him this much attention before, so he didn’t know how to deal with it. Always nice to see some Lucy > Natsu action, so let us all thank Mashima for the existence of Drunk Lucy, who makes this more possible than regular Lucy bc she lives in denial, lol.
22. “Beautiful”. (Ep 73).
Tumblr media
A classic moment, and one that is immensely loved within the NaLu fandom, and rightfully so! Not only is this the most beautiful tree i’ve seen in anime, but also gave so much more depth to Natsu and Lucy’s relationship, despite being a simple omake. I’ve mentioned this before, but after Phantom Lord arc, there was very little development on NaLu, and most of their scenes together were reapeats of things we’d seen before: them reuniting after the team is separated, working together to solve it, reuniting again, trusting each other, yada yada. Very nice, but still, mostly just friendship and nothing that really stood out. This moment here, where Natsu uproots a tree for Lucy just because she was sick and couldn’t come to see it, then putting it into a boat so it could float all the way over to the front of her house... can be seen as a platonic gesture, and probably was made with that intention on Natsu’s part, but the thing is, these kinda things only happen with them. Yes, Mashima could have given this moment for someone else like Erza or Mirajane, or even Wendy, who was new to the series and probably didn’t even know about this: so why didn’t he? The answer is quite easy, and y’all know it. Development. Growth. Natsu was upset Lucy couldn’t come and join them, didn’t even crack a smile during the whole festival, but he wanted Lucy to be able to, even if he didn’t get to see it. He wanted to make her happy. That’s very special of him, and I think there was already a little of romance there, he just didn’t know what it was, so he just followed his feelings and went for it. Okay, enough gushing and analysing, time to end this list.
21. “What do I look like to you?” round 1. (Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry).
Tumblr media
Please, don’t kill me for not having this on top 10, I wanted to put it there, because HELLO, LOOK AT THIS PICTURE, I NEED 911, I- HOW CAN THEY STAND SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER! MY BOYFRIEND SAW ME GIFFING THIS AND ASKED “IS HE TRYING TO KISS HER” AND I JUST FREAKED OUT, SOMEBODY SEDATE ME! Mashima, what were you trying to do with this? Were you trying to kill us? Like, why does Natsu want to know what he looks like to Lucy? And why he’s gotta stand so close to her that their noses are brushing, just to ask her this? AHSIAHSJJAOSJAAKA, I KNOW THE ANSWER, BUT I STILL NEED ANSWERS! Okay, I was able to calm down a little. I really truly love this moment (love dragon cry in general), and I love how Wendy interrupted them and knew immediately she’d walked into something intimate, the poor thing, lmao, I wish that was me. But really, this is just Natsu taking any excuses he can to stand super close to Lucy even when it doesn’t make sense, because we all know he’s just got it real bad for her.
Will try to post part 4 tomorrow, but no promises. My baby niece is staying over and she takes up all of my free time, lol.

Tenrou Island
*sorta spoilers?*
Laxus comes back to save the day
We were in awe at Hades’ magic power. We’d thrown so much at him, and not even a scratch! The air around us began to vibrate. Hades let out a loud yell, and Wendy just fucking Disintegrated.
“Believe me when I tell you that was a mercy kill, she got off easy. From this point forward, each of your deaths will be more gruesome than the last.” Hades explained.
“What’d you do to her?!” I spat in the old man’s direction.
Natsu shook his head, “This can’t be happening!”
“It’s okay everybody! I’m fine!” A voice reassured us.
Looking up, we say one of Lucy’s spirits, Horologium, hanging onto the ceiling, Wendy safe in side.
He explained what had happened and wished us luck before poofing off to the spirit realm.
“Well Makarov’s Fairy Tail is certainly entertaining.” Hades mocked us.
“Are you telling me you know Gramps?” Natsu asked.
Hades told us how he was the guild’s master before Makarov and Natsu being Natsu got worked up over it, throwing himself headfirst at Hades. That action causing Hades to beat our asses. I managed to stop a few of the magic bullets he shot at us with some webs, but it didn’t help.
When the barrage stopped, we were sprawled across the floor, to tired and injured to move. Seeing this, Hades went and rambled about the Guilds original intent  and how Makarov was his greatest mistake, all the while beating Natsu’s head into the ground.
We helplessly watched as he tormented the pinkette, beating him lower and lower before going for the killing blow.
“Stop!” I shouted.
“No, don’t kill him, please!” Lucy screamed, in tears.
The air around us filled with static and Hades’ raised arm was struck by lightning. Suddenly, standing there, in front of Hades, was a ball of light.
“So this is the fossil that took out Gramps?” I knew that voice. “Interesting.”
“It’s Laxus!” Gray smiled.
“Isn’t he the master’s grandson?” Wendy asked.
My heart stuttered in my chest, it’d been so long since I’d seen him.
“I see, so you’re a blood relative of Makarov.” Hades said. Lightning flashed around Laxus’ form.
“Pathetic, you guys got beat so bad you look like a bunch of tattered rags.” Laxus scoffed.
“No kidding,” Natsu smiled, as my eyebrow twitched. Glob, he was such a prick.
“Laxus what are you ding here?” Erza asked, try to push herself up
“Came to pay respects to the first Master,” He explained, “I used to be a member of Fairy tail too, ya know. I only planned to stop by Mavis’ grave so this is a big surprise.”
“I didn’t expect to run into the second guild master. I have an idea, since you’re here,” Lightning began to form around him, “Why don’t I dig a grave for you too!”
“To think Makarov would be burdened by such a pretentious grandson,” Hades mocked, “It’s a shame really.”
You could feel the magic power in the air build before Laxus shot around him, managing a few blows and throwing the old fuck across the room.
“I’m impressed, not only with your magic power, but with your courage as well. I didn’t know the boy had more than one pawn of Gildarts’ caliber.”
“That reminds me of something the old geezer used to say, ‘whenever you face a tough enemy, it doesn’t matter how strong they are. Standing up to them is what’s most important.’“ Laxus said, “Ain’t that right, Natsu?”
“Hell yea,” Natsu grinned. By now i had managed to drag myself to a still sparking cable. I put my hand around it and began sapping what energy I could. It wouldn’t be much, but it would get me on my feet.
Hades scoffed at what Laxus said, calling it the weak man’s excuse. “Let’s see what you’ve got,” He taunted.
Laxus smirked and stepped forward, “With pleasure.”
He let out a lightning dragon roar, blowing Hades back a bit, and they exchanged attacks.
Hades hit him with extremely powerful attack, but it did next to nothing. Lucky for me it went off in close proximity and I was able to siphon off quite a bit of magic power.
Laxus burst from the spell’s explosion and kicked Hades in the back of the neck, bringing his foot down hard, plowing Hades’ face into the ground.
“To think, that was only one leg.” Laxus started, “I still have the other one. And both my hands, not to mention the rest of me. If I combine them into one attack, it’d be a hell of a lot stronger than the kick that just took you down... You wanna try me?”
“You talk big, but I can’t bla- Agh!”
While Laxus distracted him, I’d managed to get on my feet, sling a web to the ceiling and swing my foot into his obnoxious face, taking some of his energy with me. I pushed off his face and land next to Laxus.
“I fucking hate when they won’t shut up.” I blew some hair out of my face, still wobbly.
“Bitch! You can’t beat me!” Hades launched at us and Laxus Charged back at him.
“Just watch me!”
After a large explosion and exchanging some heavy blows, they separated and Laxus fell to one knee.
“I knew you were full of bravado, but I didn’t expect you to fall so soon,” Hades scoffed.
“Ya know, I’ve traveled almost anywhere,” Laxus laughed, “All over this world of ours. But this is the first time I’ve ever met such a monster. I’ve got a, long way to go.”
“What are you saying!?” Natsu screamed and as I leaned against a wall, my heart clenched. He was about to try something stupid, I could feel it in the air.
“I’m glad I could help you come to that realization, Laxus was it?” Hades was still glowing with magic power. “But this is the end, prepare to die!”
My eyes widened as the spell charged.
“I realize I’m not a member of Fairy Tail anymore, but this guy took out my grandpa, so I’m allowed to take revenge, right?”
“Of course you are!” Natsu shouted.
“Just don’t get yourself killed dumb-ass!” I yelled at him.
I could see a smirk form on his face before he lit up and sent all his lightning to Natsu.
The force from the transfer sent everyone flying, pressing me up against the wall. Without even trying I absorbed some of the excess energy. As the smoke cleared I watched Laxus fall through the hole he’d made onto the deck bellow.
“Laxus!”
Natsu lit up with lightning and became, for a short period at least, a Lightning-Flame dragon.
“An electric charge?” Hades asked.
“I gave him all my magic power.” Laxus managed.
I rolled my eyes, stupid. Effective? yes. But still incredibly stupid.
“Why did you give it to me?!” Natsu asked. “You know that I’m weaker than you! So why me? Why not Ceruli?!”
“It has nothing to do with who’s weaker or stronger. He wounded Fairy Tail’s Master,” Laxus explained, “It’s only right Someone with the guild’s emblem takes him down, and we all know you’re the one who put the most fight in for that.”
“Give him hell.”
Natsu clenched his jaw, “Okay.”
Natsu looked absolutely feral. Fire and lightning swirling around him. He let out a scream and his fists went to town on Hades’ face.
While that terrifying fight was going down, I slid down to where Laxus landed. He saw me and smiled and I had to resist the urge to smack him.
I started giving him magic energy,
“What the hell are you doing?!” He managed to grab my wrist.
“Making sure you don’t die here!” I growled, shaking his hand off. It wasn’t enough for any major spells, but it was enough that he could somewhat move his limbs.
During one of Natsu’s particularly violent attacks, I managed to put of an energy shield around us so we would get fried.
“Where’d you learn that one?” Laxus chuckled with a wince.
“Not long after we kicked the Oracion Seis’ asses.” I groaned, my magic power already running out. “Natsu had better hurry this up!”
After Natsu managed to blow a hole in the side of the ship, taking a good chunk of the island with it, Hades still got back on his feet.
“You may have knocked me down, but I’m not out.” He said as he got up. “Makarov seemed to have raise some very powerful children, despite his flawed philosophy.”
As he raised to his full height, he healed completely. The bastard even pulled out a spell he’d been keeping in his back pocket. Well... Technically it was under an eye-patch but, potato tomato.
Then he started monologue-ing! If I hadn’t been so weak I’d have slit his throat on principle. He was going on about ‘Zeref’ and primordial magic, ugh.
“He’s creating monsters from the debris!” Gray shouted.
I watched the beasts grow larger and, like everyone else, I was terrified.
But then Natsu gave a rousing speech about knowing our limits and growing stronger, and i don’t know if it was the speech or the adrenaline pumping through me, but I was ready to kick this guy’s ass. I managed to push myself to my feet and face the demons in front of me.
“LET’S GO!” Natsu yelled, and we all charged at the monsters.
One of the blasts hit the ground nest to me and I wrapped my hands around it. It hurt like hell, but I managed to siphon a LOT of magic power from it. I grabbed a web, flung it at the ceiling and used it to swing up with the rest of them.
I swung at one of the monsters, ripping through it, taking most of it’s energy.
I was nearly pulsing with energy, but my stamina was still low, swinging took less so it was my best chance at staying in the fight.
We managed enough of a gap for Natsu to land a hard right hook.
Hades was baffled by this and the monsters began to crumble.
As they disappeared, the ground began to shake as the Tenrou tree became righted. And as the tree became whole again, our emblems started to glow, and our magic power was restored.
I went for the finishing blow, but Hades blocked me and blew me back with a hard kick to the gut. He’d completely lost his mind, that much was obvious.
“Stay back!”
I don’t know when had gotten back on his feet, but he was, and he was headed for Hades.
“Don’t touch my girl!” He punctuated his shout with a punch to Hades’ face. “Get him!”
Hades hit him with a blast of magic energy, knocking him back down, but the rest of us were already charging the lunatic.
We threw everything we had at him, and he went down again and again, til he didn’t get back up.
When it was over and the sun came up, Natsu let out a triumphant shriek, “YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! FAIRY TAIL IS THE GREATEST!!!!!”
Then of course, Happy, Carla and Lily came running up, the rest of the Grimoire Heart running after them. I was the only one with magic energy left so I went to stand but someone beat me to it.
“Stop right there!” It was Gramps and the rest of Fairy Tail, battered and bruised, but ready to fight.
I let out a sigh and fell back to my knees, not missing the glare Makarov was giving Laxus. This could get interesting.
The Lackeys of Grimoire Heart fled without a second thought, leaving us to fix up our wounded, which was everyone.
I was sat on a rock a few feet away when Makarov tore into his grandson.
“‘I’m proud of you for coming back’ IS THAT WHAT YOU EXPECTED ME TO SAY?!” He yelled, “HOW DARE YOU SET FOOT ON TENROU ISLAND AFTER I KICKED YOU OUT OF THE GUILD? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?? YOU’RE STILL EXPELLED, YA KNOW!”
“Jeez, you’re gonna have a heart attack, old man.” Laxus grumbled.
As Levy tried to calm the master down, Laxus was bombarded by a hug from the Thunder Legion. I laughed at the tearful reunion as Laxus tried to shove them off.
~~~~
Thanks to the boost from the blessing being restored, my body was able to mostly heal itself in record time, so I helped Laxus bandage up.
I didn’t say a single word, I just sat in front of him and started patching him up. It was silent for a few moments until he tried you to talk.
“So uh.. I-”
“You’re an idiot.”
“Ah jeez, not you too-”
“You almost killed yourself today, do you get that?!” I snapped. “You’re a big, dumb idiot that nearly killed himself!”
“Cerul-” He reached for my hand, but I pulled away.
“No!” I shouted, “You could have died today, Laxus! What would I do then? Huh?”
“Do you know how worried I’ve been for the past year?” I cried, “No letters! No messages! No- NOTHING to tell me whether or not you were alive!”
“I’ve been out of my mind worried! Then you show up and do something so-so... So Stupid!” I poked him in the chest, tears were streaming down my face.
“Hey, come on, come here,” He gently pulled my into his chest, “I’m sorry, I should’ve written, I just... didn’t know what to say.”
“Don’t ever do that again!” I sobbed into his chest.
“I won’t, okay? I promise.” He pulled me close and stroked my hair, “I promise I’ll never make you cry again.”
A gruvia (alight) angst with this, “Wait! Please— I’m sorry, just— wait.”
Ahhh, were you testing me, anon? Because this one was tough! I hope you enjoy it anyways! :)
Are you Happy?
          It had been a quiet morning. Gray was expected home in the afternoon, from a job he had hurried away on with Erza and Natsu. So Juvia had spent the morning fretting over how she might tell him her news. She tried to keep herself busy by cleaning the kitchen, and tidying the bedroom, but once that was done she was full of nervous energy.
          She was scared of how he might react, scared that… he would freak out or… maybe he wouldn’t say anything at all. She tried to imagine the best scenarios. She was usually good at that—at imagining the most positive outcomes. But for some reason, today it was all the negative things. She couldn’t get them out of her head, and she wanted to be in the right state of mind for when Gray finally got home. So she settled on taking a walk to the guild.
          The guild was as loud as it always was. The moment Juvia stepped beyond the doors she was bombarded with the noise. Someone was laughing raucously in one corner, a brawl might have been beginning in another. Juvia tried not to pay attention, she moved straight towards the sight of a familiar broad-shouldered figure.
          Gajeel was sitting closer to the bar. When Juvia slipped into the seat next to him his expression seemed to soften—as if he was greeting a younger sister. He smiled a little. “How are you feeling?”
          Juvia nodded. “Juvia is nervous.”
          “It’s gonna all turn out fine, you’ll see,” he offered her a reassuring grin. “Otherwise, let me know and I’ll beat some sense into ice-brain.”
          “Gray-sama would… Juvia believes that Gray-sama will be happy.” She whispered, “Juvia… hopes.”
          Gajeel paused, and then gently set a hand on her shoulder. “He will be.” There was sincerity in his eyes. “You’re both going to be fine.”
          At that moment the doors of the guild burst open and Lucy stormed in. She looked absolutely furious. Behind her, the two boys followed, screaming at each other—almost as usual, but… there was a different sort of rage in Gray’s eyes. Juvia hadn’t seen him look this upset in a long time.
          “If you hadn’t been a complete asshole,” he snarled, “Maybe we wouldn’t have utterly failed!”
          “Me?!” Natsu roared, “You’re the one who flipped on that guy!”
          “I was trying to make sure Lucy didn’t get kicked across the room, you imbecile. You’re girlfriend, and I’m the one who’s got her back—”
          “I can protect myself!” Lucy screamed, “Shut up both of you! If you weren’t so busy fighting all the time, maybe we actually would have accomplished the job.”
          Juvia stared, stunned, at the scene unfolding before them. “Uhhh…” Gajeel frowned, leaning on the table. “It looks like it’s been a bad day. Maybe you should wait until tomorrow.”
          ***
“Gray-sama,” Juvia whispered, wringing her hands. It had been a few hours since the incident at the guild—but Gray didn’t seem to be doing any better. He hadn’t stopped pouting since Juvia managed to drag him home. She had tried to get him out of his bad mood but nothing seemed to be working. Her stomach was in knots, but she prayed that maybe… just maybe… her news would make him happy. It was her last resort, and she was terrified. She felt like she was going to throw up. “G-Gray?” He glanced up.
          “What?” He flinched a little. Maybe the word came out a little harsher than he meant it to.
          “J-Juvia wanted to surprise you when you got home.”
          “I don’t know if now’s the right time,” he said, glancing away, “I’m not exactly in a good mood.”
          “B-but… Juvia wonders if this will cheer you up. It’s good news! It…” she trailed off. He didn’t seem to really be listening. “Gray?”
          He blinked. “I… I’m sorry.” Then he stood suddenly, as if he had too much pent-up energy. “I can’t do surprises right now, Juvia,” He turned towards the door, but Juvia reached out and grabbed his hand, clutching it in hers.
          “Please…” She felt tears welling up in her eyes. Gray turned, eyes wide.
          “Juvia?” Then he frowned, “I’m not really in the mood for baked goods or scarves right now. Can’t it wait until tomorrow?”
          Juvia blinked, and then she felt her face grow hot. She bit her lip, and glared up at him. “This isn’t about baked goods. Juvia is pregnant!”
          “W…” Gray froze, eyes wide. “What?”
          Then she stood. She stood so fast she felt her blood pressure drop, and suddenly the room was spinning. Gray was saying something—or stuttering over some words: “W-wait! Please, I’m sorry—wait…wha—” The room was still spinning, and she took a step forward towards their room, but her knees buckled and she collapsed towards the ground. “J-Juvia!” Gray caught her, eyes wide, face as white as a sheet. “Juvia! Are you alright?!” She took in a shuddering breath and then burst into tears, gripping his shirt—still trying to decide if she was furious or just hurt. Gray stuttered over another question, but then just shut his mouth, gently pulling her close in his arms.
          “J-Juvia wanted it to be perfect!” She sobbed, dropping her head against his chest. “Juvia wanted to surprise you, Gray-sama, b-but…”
          “I’m sorry,” he whispered, “I ruined it. I’m… so sorry. I shouldn’t have been in such a horrible…” she felt him tense. “I’m so sorry, Juvia.”
          “Juvia hoped that… that the news would be happy.” She said, glancing up, wiping away her tears. Gray stared down at her, his eyes searching hers as he wanted to make sure it was true—as if he wasn’t quite sure this was all real.
          “You’re… you’re really…?”
          She nodded, smiling through her tears. “You’re going to be a father,” she breathed, still clutching his shirt. Gray let out a breath.
          “I…” He shook his head, disbelief still on his face, “I… I’m going to be a father. You’re… you’re pregnant.”
          She nodded, “Yes… are… are you happy, Gray?”
          “Happy? I—” He laughed, and then his smile dropped away and he frowned. “I really messed up. God, I am so sorry—”
          “Are you happy?” she asked.
          “Yes, I… I’ve never been happier,” he whispered, “But—”
          “Then Juvia is happy!” She said. “Forget about the past. Lets just move forward.”
          “Forward.” He nodded. And then he laughed again, pulling her up into his arms. “I love you. Promise me you never doubt that.”
          “Juvia promises,” she breathed, leaning over to kiss him.
Thanks for reading!
heyyyy lovely! it's me again~☆ since I'm getting pretty excited with fairy tail atm (although I'm gonna be really sad when it finishes airing) I was wondering if you could pretty please do platonic headcanons between gray and lucy? I like their relationship as it is in the show a lot but I just wish I got to see more of it~~ 💖 you're doing such an awesome job with the blog! have a lovely day~~~☆♡
Hey lovely! Thank you so much for the request, and for the sweet words!! Just an FYI, I don't usually do character x character pieces (which totally isn’t your fault, btw. I went back and looked at my Guidelines, and I didn’t explicitly say I only did character x reader, so that’s on me!!) Since you were so overwhelmingly polite and kind, I'm going to make an exception just this once! 🙂 Just for future reference, I only do character x reader, and I’ve amended my Guidelines to show that very clearly. Hope you enjoy!!
_______________________________________________
Gray and Lucy are one of my favorite friendships in Fairy Tail, to be honest. I've loved it since day one, and as you mentioned, I don't think we got to see nearly enough of it!
Even from what we got to see, they were always with Natsu and Erza or the other guild members. However, I'll be expanding upon what little we've seen, so keep in mind that this is my interpretation lol.
Honestly, Gray's a real sweetheart when he wants to be. Like Natsu, he's got a lot of passion for magic and Fairy Tail, and sometimes (cough cough MANY times) that boils over. But when it's all said and done, Gray just loves his guild and the members that make it up. That includes Lucy.
Their friendship is built on mutual trust and companionship. Ever since Lucy joined the guild, she and Gray have been comrades. I can definitely see them getting along extremely well, even to the point where Natsu comments on it.
And you know if that boy takes time to notice something, it's definitely a thing. Dude's got a head full of rocks sometimes (jk jk I love you, Natsu!)
I don't see it ever being romantic. At all. That would be weird. Instead, I see them as more brother and sister.
Lucy is a kindhearted person, and she cares deeply for Fairy Tail. They're her family. While she didn't grow up in the guild like many of the others or come into their ranks at a young age like Gray, she's become so attached to them.
Because they both have a deep and emotional side, I can see Gray and Lucy spending a lot of time together outside of their jobs or other guild activities. I mean, the gang's always at Lucy's house anyway, but I see Lucy being the one to actually invite Gray over from time to time. They talk about anything and everything, even offering each other advice when needed.
Don't get me wrong: these two can brawl it out, too. Seeing a Celestial Wizard take on an Ice Wizard in a training duel? Um, yes, please! I can't even imagine how awesome that would be. Gray versus Lucy: the match of the century. Definitely an event worth selling tickets for!
I also see them being very willing to razz the other for just about anything. Playful bickering and snide comments about each other? 100% yes! Playing pranks on each other and messing around constantly? Absolutely! While they are kind and considerate to each other, what’s a sibling-like relationship without a little heckling?
Just like everyone else at the Fairy Tail Guild, Gray and Lucy have had to face hardships as well. There's hardly a time when they're not having to save the world from some crazy Wizard or maniacal magic cult or even the Magic Counsel. They both carry the weight of their parents and guardians with them, and both have lost a lot.
Because of this, Gray and Lucy lean on each other a lot for support, both in battle and outside it. As does everyone in Fairy Tail, actually, but I really see these two as being very sibling-like. Their attitude is very much, "I can talk crap about them all day long. I can fight them any time I want. I can pick on them and prank them day in and day out. But the moment you talk bad about them or try to hurt them or make them cry? You're going down, buddy!"
I don't know, I just really love their friendship, and I'm really sad it's always glossed over! I mean, sure, we get bits and pieces here and there, but I would have loved to see more of Gray and Lucy together, even if it was just a little more than what we got.
