Tooth decay
He almost wishes he didn’t recognize him. He wishes he had been a bit faster in drinking his drinks and putting his memories away into a stupefied box. He wishes, certainly, that he had chosen any other bar along the street rather than this one—but then again, how was he supposed to know? How was he supposed to guess this guy, out of all the other guys in the whole wide world, would walk into the same bar he’s in? Fuck. The world is supposed to be bigger than this.
Uncomfortable, he grimaces as he swirls around his empty glass the last drop of his rum and coke, the very last drop, that sits at the bottom. He’s got choices. Two, at the very least. He could stay, and play dumb, and keep racking up his tab that he’s going to wince when he’ll get to the paying part. He could leave, and not have to play dumb, and not have to strain his already strained wallet. Sure. Those are the two most obvious options, of course. Because there’s the third one right there, at the tip of his fingers that keep holding onto his empty glass that he pretends isn’t empty just so that the bartender can ignore him for a little longer instead of asking if he’ll have something else.
The third option is the one that sucks the most: he could stay here, and not play dumb, and face the metaphorical elephant that walked into the room, and—
“It’s you,” Nathan says, of course he says that, just as he comes to an abrupt and almost violent stop right next to Hal’s side. There goes his good ol’ Jordan luck, acting up again.

THE FLASH #341-350 (SERIES FINALE)
JANUARY - OCTOBER 1985
BY CARY BATES, JOHN BROOME, CARMINE INFANTINO, FRANK MCLAUGHLIN, JOE GIELLA AND CARL GAFFORD
SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)
While the Flash's trial gets underway, the Rogue's Gallery brainwashes Big Sir into again attacking the Flash.
The Flash's face and Big Sir's mind are repaired by Solovar and the inhabitants of Gorilla-City, and both team up against the Rogue's Gallery.
The Flash learns why his lawyer, Cecile Horton, hates him: because she thinks he failed to stop the murder of her policeman father at the hands of Goldface.
Kid Flash testifies in court that the deadly force the Flash used against Professor Zoom was not necessary.
In the 25th century, the police track a criminal to the EXP-7 building in the Central City complex. They try to stop them, but fail to prevent the perpetrator from using a time-transporter to leap into the time-stream.
Back in the 20th century, the trial of the Flash continues. District Attorney Slater subpoenas Kid Flash to testify to the fact that the Flash could have pursued an alternate means of defeating Reverse Flash without killing him. The Flash's attorney, Cecile Horton, tries to rebuttal, but things look grim for the Scarlet Speedster.
Later, a mysterious super-speedster breaks into the Central City police precinct and steals computer data relating to the Rogues.
That evening, Cecile Horton spies on the Allen family and is convinced that Barry Allen is actually the Flash. The following day in court, she is forced to pursue a new tactic in her defense. She tries to convince the jury that the Flash had a strong motivation for killing the Reverse Flash. The Flash realizes now that Cecile plans on unmasking him in front of the entire court. She does just that, but as she pulls back the Flash's mask, she finds not Barry Allen' face but a man with short, choppy, black hair staring back at her.
The Pied Piper almost escapes from the asylum in which he is an inmate, but is recaptured by a man who appears to be the Reverse-Flash.
Captain Frye visits the home of Cecile Horton. He tells her that he has just been attacked by the Reverse Flash. Horton is unconvinced that Reverse Flash is alive, but Frye is adamant. After relaying the news, he goes off to prove his accusation.
Meanwhile, the Reverse Flash (very much alive) attacks the Mirror Master at his new citadel. He shatters all of his mirror weapons and quickly takes him down.
Later, a cat burglar breaks into the hotel room of jurist Nathan Newbury. There is more to Newbury than meets the eye, and he hypnotizes the thief into turning himself in.
Captain Frye visits his brother Dwight who gives him an upgrade to his pacemaker, enhancing his physical prowess. Frye decides that the only way to prove that the Reverse Flash is still alive is under the costumed guise of Captain Incredible.
Reverse Flash continues targeting members of the Rogues Gallery. His next victim is Mark Mardon - the Weather Wizard. He later takes down Captain Cold on a rooftop.
Captain Incredible discovers him, and faces off against the Reverse Flash. Reverse Flash kicks him in the jaw, sending him reeling from the roof of the building. Fortunately, the real Flash arrives just in time to save Frye's life. Frye tells him that he now has proof that Reverse Flash is still alive.
Captain Frye convinces the Flash that the Reverse Flash is still alive. The Reverse Flash meanwhile, continues to round up all of the Flash's known adversaries, including Captain Boomerang and the Rainbow Raider. At the Central City Courthouse, jurist Nathan Newbury proves to be more than he seems as he transports the entire jury through the timestream to play witness to the day that the Flash allegedly murdered the Reverse Flash. The Reverse Flash discovers Newbury's manipulation of the timestream and sends the jurors back to the present. Taking Newbury's place, he convinces the other jurors that the Flash is guilty. At the reading of the verdict, the jury finds the Flash guilty of second degree murder.
In prison, the Flash is visited by Nathan Newbury, who reveals to him that he came from the future to make certain the verdict was correctly innocent, but that a man who impersonated him caused the jury to vote for conviction.
The Flash and the Rogue's Gallery must defeat Professor Zoom to set the time-line back on its proper course, after which the Flash has a reunion in the 30th Century with Iris's parents--and Iris.
REVIEW
It’s nice to think that Flash (Barry Allen) had a happy ending, even if it was only for a while. And it was fitting that the man that gave him all his tragedies, managed to also give him that piece of heaven.
This story was extremely decompressed, especially for 1985 standards. But despite the angry fans, I believe that Cary Bates did an amazing job with the character. Maybe he knew at some point that Barry had no personality and decided to give him all the problems anyone could have. And there are no magic solutions in general (except for that special ending in the 30th century), Flash is technically guilty, even if he is later absolved.
There are also many twists here. I was convinced that Nathan was Kadabra, but then that issue happened and I realized there was something else going on... but I thought to myself... how likely it is that Iris would re-incarnate in a bald fat male accountant?
The twist with the fake Reverse-Flash also reminded me of The Flash (2014) season one, when I was convinced that Tom Cavanagh was doing Abra Kadabra (it made more sense, as he seemed to have his powers, like that mind control thing). But then again, both are from the future, and Kadabra doesn’t really have powers.
I also think Bates had to do the best he could considering what was going on behind the curtains. The last issue came out at the same time as Crisis #8, so it must have been a very emotional months for Flash fans. He also left the Rogues in good terms with the Flash, this would be a very important plot for the next Flash.
But the rogues are padding these issues as well, with many pages dedicated to them being trapped. I think those stories could have been tighter.
The trial is the main event, and it doesn’t disappoint. It is really good. But again, it is good if you can read two year’s worth of comics to read just one story. I wouldn’t have been this good with the story had I reviewed issue by issue over the course of two years.
I give this arc a score of 8

A total of 250 domestic players have put their names forward for the Men's Draft including 21 England internationals. Tom Banton, Liam Dawson and Olly Stone will all be looking for new teams while Joe Clarke is the highest-priced domestic entrant with a reserve price of £60,000.
The eight teams have already retained a number of players after the first year of the competition with 42 slots open across the teams in the Draft. Of these, 17 will be filled by overseas players and 25 by domestic players.
All teams retain a right-to-match for players who were contracted to the side last year. Rob Hillman, Director of Event Operations and Head of the Men’s Hundred said, "It’s fantastic to see so many of the world’s top players wanting to play in The Hundred.
Despite the ongoing global challenges caused by the long-term impact of the Covid and the hectic international cricket calendar, the Draft list guarantees The Hundred will be serving up some thrilling cricket this summer. Any fans signed up at thehundred.com will be able to snap up their seats from 5 April."

118 The Last Defender Written and Directed by Nathan Allen, Puzzle Design by Sandor Weisz for The House Theatre of Chicago at the Chopin Theatre. One day out of the blue, while I was working on another project and waiting to go to Miami (coming up) I got a call from Nate Allen, asking me to do a thing for him. He was writing and directing a show - similar to an escape room - which was going to be an environmental installation in the Chopin basement called The Last Defender. I would play Dr. Truman Heston, Chief Engineer of the Ballistic Systems Division of Central Systems Command, and inventor of M.A.D.A.I., the Mutually Assured Destruction Algorithmic Intelligence, a computer linking together sensor and satellite data, that begins a 60 minute countdown to a fully automated launch at the first detection of enemy launch activity. The Defenders would have 60 minutes to confirm the launch or prevent retaliation. So I would go in and shoot on video for the day, basically explaining the game and then would pop up on screens, to warn or congratulate the defenders. This was complicated by two things. One - The Chopin rented out the basement space the day before to Empire, so the entire thing had to be disassembled and reassembled up to the last minute on both fronts. Two - I had been growing a beard since July for the upcoming remount of The Hammer Trinity in Miami and Nate just wanted a mustache. I attended my step-mother’s funeral in that ridiculous beard. But since Nate was directing both shows, the ole broom pusher it was. FYI - I have yet to play this game. I was so intimidated that people would look to me for answers since I was in the video, that I have never participated. But it’s reopening soon! You can come see me in it Chicago Board Games Cafe! #retrospective #2016 #thehousetheatreofchicago #thelastdefender #nathanallen #sandorweisz #chopintheatre #drtrumanheston #madai #mutuallyassureddestructionalgorithmicintelligence #centralsystemscommand #blackrabbit (at Chopin Theatre) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8d77ReJl58/?igshid=5il7ud8rppi8

hi there, ho there! it’s your girl c, back at it again with another muse ~ for those of you i haven’t had a chance to plot with or talk to in the past, i also play ansem && monty ! feel free to hmu if you wanna plot or anything!! okay so enough about me, here’s some info about pippa under the cut!
* | pippa carstairs is the youngest child of thomas and elizabeth carstairs. she is a muggleborn witch. her father is a businessman who works closely with the government doing contract work and her mother was a lawyer before leaving her firm to be a homemaker. she went back to work in 86 and currently works at a firm in essex, uk, where the family lives. thomas travels frequently for work and often takes the family with him during the summers.
pippa has three older brothers - nathan (23), lucas (21), and jacob (18) and lives with her parents in ingateswood. it’s a posh neighborhood, very affluent families live there, and she attended private school with other children in their family’s social circle up until she was 10. she was poised to go to westcliff once she turned 11 but surprise, she’s a wizard. she was not happy about being a wizard. seeing as (as far as they knew) no one in the family had ever been a wizard, a representative of the school was sent along with her letter to explain things. it was only once she’d seen professor mcgonagall turn into a cat before their eyes that she’d truly understood. while the family was hesitant at first — magic scared them — they only wanted the best for pippa and decided she’d go. she cried for days and spent the majority of the summer crying and dreading going to hogwarts. she had friends going to westcliff and couldn’t imagine being away from them.
her first year of studies, she was very withdrawn from her classmates and resentful. she didn’t feel like she was any good at being a witch and was angry that she’d had to leave all of her friends behind as she’d been quite popular in her primary school and fully intended to go to westcliff at the top of the social pyramid. now she had to start all over again, knowing no one, and her blood status was something some despised her because of. she spent the entire summer next pouring over her text books so she wouldn’t fall behind, discovered makeup, and came for her second year a force to be reckoned with. she might not have wanted to be a witch but she was going to be a damn good one - and find ways to twist things into her favor.
pippa is kind of a jerk. she doesn’t understand quidditch because - hello, where are the cute uniforms like muggles have? gross. she’s also offended by the lack of cheerleaders and has been lobbying since day one to make that happen. so far, she has been unsuccessful. pippa is very unique when it comes to her style and resents having to all dress in the school’s uniform. she does her best to accessorize to make herself stand out, never wanting to fade into the background.
even though she’s kind of testy, she has a big heart. she would do anything for her friends and will be the first to stand up for them if anyone was getting on their nerves. she’s been known to snap the ends off someone’s broom, or shred their robes, if word gets out that they’ve said or done something to her friends. she’s also very blunt and isn’t afraid to tell people what she thinks of them. her mouth has gotten her in trouble from time to time but it hasn’t smartened her up over the years.
she was made prefect in her fifth year and is the current head girl at hogwarts.
