HOT TO GO! II Niamh Charles x Reader
masterlist I word count: 1026
a/n: hi, it's based off this request here, have fun. <3
Usually the atmosphere in the dressing room would never be this relaxed right before a London Derby.
But this was a friendly against Arsenal. And it wasnât even in London. So the tension and explosive nature of such a game were slightly subdued.
You slipped your sock on and pushed your shinguards down while simultaneously humming to âHOT TO GO!â which was playing in the background.
Niamh was right next to you, tying her shoes. Her jersey hung right behind her, and alongside it, the bright yellow armband with the big C on it.
You smirked: âNice armband, Captain Charles.â
She looked up. Her gaze shifted from you to the captains armband and back to you.
âThanks.â Her voice rose at the end, making it sound like a question. Still, her cheeks blushed in a subtle pink.
Smiling, you leaned over and pressed a kiss to her cheek. An inconspicuous way of showing how proud you were of her.
âUgh, canât you two be less couple-y for once?â, Erin groaned from the other side of the room, her face a grimace of disgust.
âWeâre not doing anything! At least I donât.â, Niamh protested and pointed innocently at her chest.
Nathalie laughed: âThen get your girlfriend to behave.â
You rolled your eyes in a playful gesture: âOh come on. This was all innocent.â
Niamh turned to you with one eyebrow raised and her hand on your thigh: âIgnore them, babe. Erinâs just jealous and Nat wishes Aurora was still on her team.â
âWHAT?!â, they both said in unison.
You smiled at you girlfriend, knowing it would annoy your two teammates: âYou might be right about that.â
Erin shook her head, visibly annoyed: âLetâs go warm up, Nat. Or else Iâm going to puke.â
Giggling, you watched as the two left the dressing room.
âCome on, you two lovebirds need to warm up as well.â, Zecira reminded you. She was clearly biting back a grin.
Niamh got up, ready to follow the others outside as well but she patiently waited for you while you slipped into your shoes.
âSorry, love. Blame it on the Chapell Roan songs they played. They got me in this certain mood.â, you apologized with a wink and pressed yourself into her side.
âCome on. As captain I canât be the last to the warm-up.â, Niamh smiled.
You let go of her and nodded: âRight. Especially not on a derby day.â
Side by side you entered the pitch for the warm-up, doing your exercises.
âGirls, get ready! The game is about to start.â, Millie called across the pitch, repeating the instructions from the coaching staff.
While everyone went back into the dressing room to switch from their warm-up shirts to their actual football jerseys, you used the break to run to the bathroom.
A tradition that was part of every game for you. But this time you were lost in thought, still repeating the chorus of that song in your head.
âReady!â, you announced as you walked back onto the pitch, high-fiving your teammates.
Once you reached your girlfriend, she just looked you up and down: âNice Shirt.â
âWhat? Shit?â, you cursed when you realized you were still wearing your warmup shirt, your skin turned pale despite the tan from the summer vacation.
The horror and embarrassment were written all over your face. Â Before you could think any further about what to do next your feet started running.
âJersey to go for y/n.â With a huge grin on her lips Lucy threw your jersey at you which you pressed relived to your chest.
âThanks.â, you mouthed gratefully as you quickly put the new third kit on.
âEveryone ready now?â, Niamh wanted to know, still looking pretty amused by what just happened to you.
âYes, everythingâs sorted out.â, you assured her.
âLuce, weâll never let y/n forget that this has happened, right?â, Millie bumped her shoulder against the brunette defenders one.
âNever.â, she agreed smirking.
âYou two arenât as quite as you think.â, you intervened, wishing a hole on the pitch could swallow you whole to save you from the awkward situation.
âYou know you deserve it.â, Lucy kept teasing.
âThat was so embarrassing.â, you muttered hiding your burning cheeks with your hands while you were getting ready for the group photo.
âStop thinking about it. This could have happened to everyone.â, Niamh tried to cheer you up, putting an arm around your shoulders encouragingly.
The two of you and the rest of the team waited for the photographer to frame this memory. After that was done, everyone was beginning to move again, eagerly anticipating the start of the derby.
âRight, but I just know that itâll haunt me in my dreams.â, you admitted.
âThatâs what you get for flirting with the captain.â, Millie threw in with a wink.
âY/n?â, Niamh immediately approached you after the referee blew the final whistle.
âYes?â, you looked up, feeling her gaze linger on you.
âGood game.â, your girlfriend congratulated you beaming.
âThanks, another derby win for us and you didnât play bad either.â, you commented cheekily.
âOh wow, nice of you.â, she chuckled.
âI know.â, you laughed.
âAt least I didnât forget to put my jersey on.â, Niamh reminded you.
âCold captain, what about the it-could-have-happened-to-anyone-talk from earlier.â, you pouted playfully.
âI take that back. I only said it because you seemed embarrassed.â, the defender declared.
âYou can sleep on the floor tonight.â, you gasped, pretending to be offended by her thoughtful gesture.
âOkay, and you can make sure you never forget your stuff again.â, she countered promptly.
âFine.â, you agreed.
âAre you done now?â, Niamh asked, her hand resting on your back while you made your way to the changing rooms. The heat hasnât dropped down yet, and the sun still shone strongly on both of you.
âI am time to go to our room with no shirts on.â, you announced.
âI can tell youâre not the biggest fans of shirts.â, your girlfriend remarked smiling.
âYou know itâs still hot so they can go.â, you decided bluntly, referring to the song from earlier, but also the temperature which was making the thought of nothing on very delicious.

Jealousy, Jealously
Nathalie Björn x Reader
Summary: You and your best friend have always been close, but lately, thereâs a tension you canât shake. After a heated argument, you both realize that the feelings youâve been hiding for so long might be stronger than you are willing to admit. As the distance grows, you canât help but wonder if your connection has always been more than just friendship.
Word Count: 2k
Nathalieâs eyes widened in excitement when she heard Sonia pair you two up during practice to do the warm-up together. Youâve never gotten paired up since so many other girls are on the team. The chances of getting paired up with your best friend are slim to none. She gives you a smile that you quickly return as you jog up to her to get started on warm-up.
âHey, Nat,â you say.
âHey, Cap. Canât believe we got paired up together! That's a first,â she laughs.
âI was just thinking that Sonia has a grudge against me. She never pairs me up with you, and she knows how much I love you, like, come on!â
Nathalie whips her head towards you. You immediately want to correct yourself, not wanting Nathalie to get the wrong impression because you didnât mean it that way. Donât get it twisted; youâve had more than just friendly feelings for Nathalie for years, but you wouldnât want her to know because the very high risk of her not liking you back and the fear of you ruining your friendship is too strong.
âWhat?â you say, pretending to be confused by her look.
âShe knows you're my best friend and never pairs me up with you.â
Nathalieâs facial expression flashes a look of disappointment so fast you donât know if you imagined it. You mustâve, though, because thereâs no way Nathalie would like you like that.
âOh, come on,â Nathalie starts to laugh awkwardly. âHow can you say Sonia doesnât like you when she made you Captain? That doesnât seem like âgrudgeâ behavior to me,â Nathalie laughs.
âOk, I guess thatâs true.â You smile. âI wanted to talk to you about this weekendââ
You get cut off by Nathalie. âOh great, I did too! Iâm excited we planned this. We havenât hung out together in forever since weâve been so busy! So, since the movie is at 6:45, I thought we could meet at the theater at 6:10pm to get popcorn and candy and watch the previews for upcoming movies like usual. Then we couldâ"
You cut her off like she did to you. "No, Nat, Iâm sorry, but I actually got asked out on a date yesterday, and she wanted to go to dinner this weekend. Can we reschedule? The movie will still be in theaters next weekend. Maybe we can go then?â
Nathalie responds, âWell, we have a game next weekend. Thatâs why we planned it for this weekend. I canât believe you're ditching me to go on a date with some girl youâve never even met. This'll probably end up nowhere like your dates normally do.â
Her response immediately takes you aback; you can tell she didnât mean to say that last part out loud based on her facial expression. Nathalie isnât one to snap at you. She is usually always playful and fun. To see her react like that, especially to you, was beyond weird and has never happened in your years of friendship. You expected her to agree to reschedule and maybe even wish you luck on your date, but not shame you.
You scoff at her. âWow, tell me how you really feel. You know what, Nathalie? This seems to me like youâre jealous.â
Nathalie automatically tenses up and seems to freeze in place.
You continue. âYouâre jealous that I have a life outside of football and actually date.â
She relaxes but still looks mad.
You continue. âYeah, they usually end up nowhere, but at least I get asked out. Where are the people lined up to go out with you, Nathalie?â
Nathalie rolls her eyes. âReal childish y/n. I just think itâs really nice that you would make plans with someone when you already had plans with me. What kind of friend does that? Then you cancel on me at the last minute, too? That is so rude.â
âWhy do you care so much if I go on a date?â you say.
âIâum, itâs not the date part that pisses me off; itâs the fact that youâd cancel this last minute on me for a shitty reason.â Nathalie flushes at her own words.
You then say, âIt is a perfectly good reason, Nathalie; youâre being unreasonable. We donât live far from each other, and the season is going to end soon. We'll have tons of time to hang out the whole break. Also, like you said, most of these dates donât go anywhere, so why are you so mad?â
You are getting angrier now because this argument has been going on long enough, and you donât want Sonia to see you guys arguing. It is doubtful that she isnât aware of it because of how loud your voices have gotten and your other teammate's eyes already on you and Nathalie.
âI honestly donât know, and quite frankly, I donât care,â Nathalie says and continues, âItâs just very frustrating to me when we donât hang out because of how busy we are, and you cancel; itâs rude.â
You interrupt her. âI know, Nathalie, youâve given me the same reason three times andââ
A whistle blows, quickly interrupting you.
âOk, I'll let warm-up go on for an extra 5 minutes for you two, but you guys have been bickering long enough. I tried to let you guys handle it by yourselves, but obviously that didnât happen,â Sonia says. âYou can figure this out on your own time, but Iâve got a practice to run.â
Nathalie looks at you and says, âThis conversation isnât over.â
Sunday (a few days later)
You missed Nathalie. You ended up canceling your date with the girl you were supposed to go out with yesterday, the day you got in the fight with Nathalie, because you have been sad about what happened with your best friend. You only really agreed to go on a date with the girl to get over your feelings for Nathalie in the first place.
It sucked pining over Nathalie knowing sheâd never feel the same for you, and now that it seemed, since you havenât talked in days, which was the opposite of normal for you two, that your friendship was probably over, that maybe you could finally get over your feelings for her. Maybe? Probably? You didnât know. You just hoped so.
It was horrible pining over someone who didnât love you back, and it would be even more terrible if you werenât even friends anymore because of a stupid, petty argument, so not only was there no love, but now there was hostility added to the mix of feeling that Nathalie felt for you. You and she have never been in a fight before; that just wasnât your friendship. It was weird to open your phone and not see text messages from her asking how your day was going so far or seeing her reply to your text messages. You haven't texted her since the fight. Still, it was different and not a good different either.
You are in your room, aimlessly scrolling through the channels on the TV, when you hear a sudden knock at your door. You ignored it since you assumed it was just a salesperson and werenât expecting anyone.
About a minute later, you hear the knocking again, followed by your doorbell ringing. You pick up your phone to see what time it is; it reads 6:08. You get up to see who is at your door. You look out the peephole to see Nathalie standing there. You havenât talked to her in days, so you are nervous about seeing her. You open the door slowly.
âHi,â she says. You notice she has something in her hand.
âI brought dinner; I thought we could eat and talk if thatâs ok?â She smiles shyly at you. You return the shy smile and say
âOh! Um, yes, of course, come in.â You open your door to let her in.
âWhere are we eating?â Nathalie asks
âIn the living room is fine,â you say.
âOh, special occasion.â She chuckles, âWe never eat there; itâs usually the patio or kitchen table.â
Then, you both walk to the living room to sit on the couch, and Nathalie puts the food on the table in front of the sofa.
âI just thought we could be a little more comfortable while we talk, and you always tell me how much you like my couch, but then say how I need new house chairs, so I always thought you were hinting you wanted to eat in the living room, so here we are.â You smile.
Nathalie flushes at your comment.
âNo, I never meantââ
You cut her off before she could fully start. âNathalie, itâs okay. I'm messing with you,â you reassure her with a soft smile.
She lets out an exhale, and you see her relax. âI came here because I wanted to apologize. I did not like how I treated you a few days ago. I am very sorry that I said all those things to you. I did not mean any of them. If you want to go out on dates, that is not my or anyone else's business, so I am very sorry for how I reacted. I was very out of hand. And I also came because I need to tell you something,â Nathalie says.
You smile and say to her, âI donât care about that stupid date; I just miss you. I canceled it because I was still upset about what happened between us,â you say, âand I wanted to apologize too,â you say. âI think I handled the situation very poorly, and our friendship will not last if I do that again. I should not have canceled on you at the last minute. That was so rude of me and poorly done on my part. And I accept your apology.â You smile at her kindly, âAnd is everything ok? What did you want to tell me?â
âI also accept your apology,â Nathalie says as she smiles.
But she still looks nervous, and now itâs making you anxious. You sit with Nathalie, staring at you, trying to avoid her gaze; you're the first to break the silence.
âOk, Nathalie. Can you please just say whatever you need to say? Youâre making me nervous.â You laugh awkwardly.
Nathalie looks up at you and begins to speak. âI tried so hard to ignore how I felt because I didnât want to ruin our friendship, but itâs worth the risk of finding out if you feel the same,â Nathalie says.
Your heart starts to race; is she saying what you think sheâs saying?
âI love you. I donât know how or when it happened, but it just did, and I donât know what will happen if you donât feel the same, so if you donâtâoh god, Iâm rambling. This is so embarrassing. I need to shutââ
You press your lips to hers. She opens her mouth in shock, and you sneak your tongue in. She moans into your mouth in pleasure. You pull her onto your lap, and she straddles your waist, one leg on each side of your thighs. You both continue to make out after getting into the new position. After about a minute or two of making out, she pulls away and says
âSo does this meanâŠâ She blushes.
âI love you too; I have for a while. Itâs kind of funny; I had the same reason for not telling you I have feelings for you.â You say and smile at her, then pull her back and start to kiss her again.
You are more than happy to have Nathalie in your life. She was brave enough for the both of you, and youâll always love her for that.
