Kerstin Casparij x Reader
Everything feels right
Tumblr media
Summary- You and Kerstin have a day off. Ft kiwi
Inspired by- “Sunsetz”- cigarettes after sex
Word count- 1983
A/N- I love Kerstin Casparij, not proof read cause I’m lazy
——————————————————-------------------------------------
The morning sun poured through the blinds of your shared apartment, casting stripes of light across the room. Kerstin let out a dramatic groan. “Can you turn the sun off?”
You sighed, leaning into her side, grateful for the warmth. Kiwi, ever the morning diva, had settled at the end of the bed, cocooning herself in the blanket.
“Sadly, I can’t turn off the sun. But you should be thankful it’s even shining today—after all, it’s usually just rain here.”
Kerstin shot you a teasing look. “Trust me, it will rain eventually.”
“Whatever you say, my love.”
“Why’d you say it like that?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Like what?”
“Like you don’t believe me.” Her tone was mock-serious.
“No, I do believe you, it’s just—” You sighed, struggling to find the right words. “Go back to sleep”
Kerstin huffed and buried her face deeper into the pillow, her hair spilling across the fabric like liquid gold. “I can’t sleep with Kiwi licking me like I’m a kitty cat,” she mumbled, glancing at the cat, who had resumed her grooming ritual.
“Alright, alright, you chuckled. “How about I get up and make breakfast? You stay here and battle the sun.”
Kerstin peeked out from her pillow fortress, a sleepy smile breaking through. “What are you making?”
“Waffles, with those blueberries we bought last week?”
“Only if you promise to share,” she replied, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
“Deal. But first, I need to wrestle Kiwi. She’s not going to let me leave this bed without a fight.” You swung your legs over the side of the bed and stretched, glancing back at Kerstin. “Are you ready to face the day?”
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress her grin. “Fine, but don’t take too long. I’ll start drafting my rain predictions.”
You scooped up Kiwi, who protested with a series of soft meows. “See? She’s on my side,” you teased.
“Sure, as long as she gets her breakfast first,” Kerstin shot back, tossing the covers aside and sitting up.
“Alright, breakfast brigade, let’s get to work!” You made your way to the kitchen, a warm sense of contentment wrapping around you as the sun poured in. Even if Kerstin was right about the impending rain, you couldn’t help but feel grateful for moments like this—where everything felt just right.
You shuffled into the kitchen, the floor cool beneath your feet. As you put Kiwi down so you could rummage through the cabinets for the waffle maker, you could hear Kerstin’s soft laughter behind you.
“Just look at you, already on a mission,” she called, her voice playful. “Who knew you’d be such an enthusiastic chef at this hour?”
“Hey, a chef is only as good as their ingredients,” you replied, grabbing the flour and sugar. “And I’ve got a secret ingredient today—love!”
“Oh please,” she scoffed, but you could hear the smile in her voice. “Just don’t burn the waffles.”
“Not a chance! You’ll be the one to burn the toast next time,” you shot back, glancing over your shoulder to see her trying to suppress a yawn.
You plugged in the waffle maker, and its comforting hum is a backdrop to the quiet morning. Kiwi followed you into the kitchen, weaving around your legs as you measured the ingredients. “Alright, little chef,” you said, bending down to scratch Kiwi behind the ears. “You’ll have to taste-test once I’m done.”
Kerstin leaned against the counter, a coffee mug now in hand. “This is the life,” she said, taking a sip. “You, me, and Kiwi, battling the forces of nature with breakfast.”
“Exactly! The perfect defence against any day.” You mixed the batter with a flourish, the sweet scent already filling the air.
As the waffle maker started to steam, you turned back to her. “So, what’s your plan for the day? Besides predicting the weather?”
“I was thinking of going for a walk” she replied, her eyes thoughtful. “Maybe explore that new park? I hear it has a beautiful pond.”
“Sounds perfect! We can take Kiwi with us.”
Kerstin raised an eyebrow. “You think she’ll enjoy it?”
“Sure! She can pretend she’s a majestic tiger stalking through the grass.”
“More like a spoiled princess, if you ask me,” she laughed.
Just then, the waffle maker beeped, and you carefully opened it to reveal a perfectly golden waffle. “First one’s done!” you announced, beaming. You plated it up, adding a handful of fresh blueberries on top.
“Now that’s a masterpiece!” Kerstin said, eyes wide with delight.
You grinned as you handed her a fork. “One bite and you’ll be ready to conquer the world—or at least the “rainy” day.”
Kerstin took a bite, her expression transforming from anticipation to pure bliss. “Wow. You might just have a future in gourmet breakfast!”
“Thanks! Just wait until you see what I can do with toast,” you joked, sliding another waffle into the maker.
As the aroma of fresh waffles filled the kitchen, you felt that familiar warmth in your chest. No matter what the weather brought later, these moments made it all worthwhile. You were ready to take on anything—together.
You flipped another waffle into the maker, the soft sizzle filling the kitchen with the promise of more deliciousness. As you turned back to Kerstin, you noticed her watching you with that playful glint in her eyes.
“What?” you asked, wiping your hands on a dish towel.
“Just admiring my talented chef,” she said, leaning back against the counter with a smirk. “You might have to cook more often.”
“Only if you promise to be my sous-chef. I can’t do this without my trusty taste tester,” you replied, raising an eyebrow playfully.
“Deal! I can handle the coffee and moral support,” she said, lifting her mug for emphasis.
“Ah, the critical roles,” you chuckled, shaking your head. “But seriously, I’m glad we’re having this lazy morning together. It’s nice to just enjoy each other’s company.”
Kerstin smiled, the warmth of the moment settling comfortably between you. “I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just us and our little routine.”
With the next waffle ready, you plated it up and added a sprinkle of powdered sugar, then set it down next to the first one. “Breakfast is served!” you announced dramatically.
Kerstin’s eyes sparkled as she took in the spread. “Now that’s a breakfast worthy of a sunny day!”
“Let’s see if it lives up to its reputation.” You grabbed your own plate and joined her at the small kitchen table, the sun streaming in and illuminating the room.
As you both dug in, the waffles were met with satisfied hums and laughter. Kiwi, sensing the excitement, hopped onto the table, eyeing the plate with keen interest.
“Not for you, Kiwi,” Kerstin said, playfully shooing her away. “You’ve got your own breakfast waiting.”
“Yeah, you can’t have gourmet waffles; it’ll ruin your delicate palate,” you added, grinning.
After finishing the first round, you both leaned back in your chairs, feeling pleasantly full. “What now?” you asked, glancing out the window, where the sun was still shining brightly.
“I guess it’s time to suit up for our adventure,” Kerstin said, her eyes dancing with anticipation. “I want to see that park.”
You nodded, the idea filling you with excitement. “Let’s grab some snacks for the walk. We can have a mini picnic by the pond.”
“Great idea! And don’t forget to pack some treats for our little princess,” she replied, pointing at Kiwi, who had curled up on the table, looking unbothered.
After a quick clean-up, you both gathered your things—snacks, water, and a couple of toys for Kiwi. As you headed towards the door, you couldn’t help but feel that this day, with its mixture of sunshine and playful banter, was going to be special.
“Ready for an adventure?” you asked, glancing back at Kerstin as you opened the door.
“Always!” she replied, her smile radiant as she stepped outside, the warm sun bathing you both in its light.
With Kiwi trotting happily beside you, you set off toward the park, ready to embrace whatever the day had in store. No matter the weather ahead, this was the perfect start, and you knew it was going to be a day to remember.
The walk to the park was filled with laughter and easy conversation, the kind that only deepened your bond. Kiwi pranced ahead, exploring the world with her usual curiosity, darting between blades of grass and stopping occasionally to investigate a particularly interesting leaf or twig.
“Look at her go!” Kerstin said, chuckling as Kiwi paused to sniff a flower. “She thinks she owns the place.”
“Of course she does. She’s a queen in her domain,” you replied, feigning seriousness. “We’re merely her loyal subjects.”
Kerstin laughed, and the sound danced in the air, mixing with the gentle rustle of the leaves overhead. The sun continued to shine, warming your skin and filling you with a sense of contentment.
As you reached the entrance to the park, the lush greenery unfolded before you. Children played in the distance, their laughter mingling with the chirping of birds, while a gentle breeze rustled the leaves.
“Look at that pond!” Kerstin pointed excitedly. “Let’s find a spot near it.”
You made your way over, and soon you found a cozy patch of grass, the perfect spot for your mini picnic. You set down the blanket while Kerstin unpacked the snacks.
“Careful with those!” you warned as she pulled out the sandwiches. “We don’t want a rogue Kiwi attacking the food.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan.” She set the sandwiches down safely and pulled out a small container of treats for Kiwi. “Here you go, princess.”
Kiwi immediately perked up, her eyes widening with excitement as Kerstin sprinkled a few treats on the ground. She dove into her feast, a picture of bliss as she munched happily.
You both settled down on the blanket, enjoying the peaceful surroundings. As you took a bite of your sandwich, you looked over at Kerstin. “This was a fantastic idea. I’m glad we did this.”
“Me too. It’s nice to just escape the usual routine for a bit,” she replied, her gaze drifting to the shimmering water of the pond. “And look at the ducks! They’re so cute!”
You both watched as a family of ducks paddled by, the little ducklings trailing closely behind their mother. “Aww, they’re adorable,” you said, smiling. “I love how everything feels alive today.”
Kerstin nodded, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “And just think—this is all happening because we decided to make waffles.”
“See? Waffles are the key to a perfect day!” you joked.
After finishing your sandwiches, you leaned back on your elbows, soaking in the sun. “What do you think we should do next? More exploring, or just relax here for a bit?”
Kerstin tilted her head, considering. “I think we should just enjoy the moment. Maybe we could do some people-watching?”
“You’re such a weirdo, people watching really? Great idea though!” You turned your attention to the park around you, taking in the sights and sounds.
You spotted a group of kids playing tag, their laughter echoing through the air. A couple was strolling hand in hand, lost in their own world. An elderly man fed the ducks, a warm smile lighting up his face.
“This is perfect,” you said softly. “Just being here, together.”
Kerstin turned to you, her expression thoughtful. “You know, it’s moments like these that make me realize how lucky we are.”
“Agreed. No matter what happens, I wouldn’t want to share this with anyone else.”
She leaned over, resting her head on your shoulder, and you both settled into a comfortable silence, letting the peacefulness of the park wash over you. At that moment, with the sun shining and the world bustling around you, everything felt right because everything was right.
