The Human-Amphibia of Munger    This is the story of those people, who are forced to lead an amphibian life for their survival. Talking about Munger, one of the famous, yet deprived districts of Bihar. Situated on the bank of one of India's prime rivers - The Ganges, which flows across most parts of Bihar. Additionally, In terms of natural resources, these rivers do play a crucial role in shaping the economy of the state either from extraction/mining of raw materials like sand or with its marine life resources - like fishes, crabs and whatnot. Travelling through one of the river embankment areas of Munger, I got the opportunity to meet these boatmen. They shared their beautiful story of livelihood. Or to - say it without sugar-coating, they shared how they are battling for their survival. These boatmen generally have to spend most of their days & nights on these rickety wooden boats. In order to catch a fair amount of fish, that can be sold in the local market before the day ends. And like every undefined supply chain of India. They also have to suffer from the fluctuation in price and revenue. Describing it further, They say monsoons bring out more fear every year. It's not advisable or safe to be in the water, which directly affects the income. You rather choose to go hungry than die trying. But the positive side of it is - that every rain ensures the recovery of fish and other animals in the river. Adding to this one of the oldest boatmen says - "I have spent more time in the water, than over the land". of-course it was an overstatement which he must have expressed in a gust of flow.
