"Very few people really know African cultures in depth, due to their diversity, often foreign to our continent, getting to know them up close becomes difficult for a large percentage of the globe. That makes the image manipulation process easier and with it the transmission to the viewer. I work on the concept of individuality and loneliness. This is how I came to the African masks and these characters. The special sparkle in their eyes, the way they live, the marks and lines on their bodies leave their traces and denote their belonging." Suri girls having fun in a river where they were panning for gold. They walk for days from Kibbish to get there and arduously pan and separate the grains of gold from sediment. The Suri live in the Northern Omo valley and are closely connected to the Mursi in Mago National park and the Kapicho in South Sudan. They are pastoralists pursuing a subsistence and sustainable life in an area which, until recently, was very isolated.
