You Can Always Come Home to Me

On April 23rd of 1997, Gwen is on Easter vacation with her mums Sherri and Angela alongside her older brother Nate at the Bahamas, but Gwen only wants to be with Nikki right now; but Nate is too busy moping over Jay and Leia as well because he also missed his boyfriend and girlfriend with him.

"I missed Nikki so much." Gwen said to Nate, feeling lost and hopeless without Nikki by her side and Nate replied back to Gwen "I know what you mean Gwen, I miss Jay and Leia in my arms while we are on vacation but at least have fun together and avoiding our mothers kissing together in front of us." Gwen and Nate shudders over the thought of seeing their mothers kissing in front of them.

Nate and Gwen were busy having fun at the Bahamas; going to the pool and having splash fights as siblings tend to do and also once they got back to Point Place; Gwen hugged Nikki tightly and said to Nikki with a dopey grin on her face "I missed you my funyun." Nikki replied back to Gwen with a smile on her face. "I missed you too my funyun and you can always come back home with me." Nikki and Gwen hugs each other so tightly and never let go of each other ever again apart from Nate, Jay and Leia who were busy giving Nate cuddles and kisses after missing him so long too.

I am disappointed at the series cancellation, but can’t say I am surprised. The writing has been on the wall for a while, and Netflix gonna Netflix (cancel an up and coming series with a dedicated fan base after a handful of seasons, just as it’s hitting its stride).

I never, ever thought a T70S reunion or reboot would happen and so I am so happy and grateful for every unexpected moment we got (even if I wish we got more). The headcanons and the fanfic will live on, forevermore.

What I think realistically will happen

We''ll spend at least three episodes of Leia and Nate being weird around each other and will eventually come clean once Jay gets to suspicious.

Before that I think Jay and Nikki will talk about how strange Nate and Leia are acting. I also think we''ll get a scene where Gwen tell Leia she needs to hurry up and choose.

We know that Donna will be in featured in a few episodes, maybe we'll get a mother/daughter talk about the love triangle.

Worst case scenario Jay will catch Nate and Leia kissing, which would blow up the friend group.

Now I can't imagine the drama lasting that long, because well, it's a comedy show. But I do think the friend group will be heavily altered in someway

Anything thing I’ve come to notice is Leia actually says she expects her and Jay to be together forever like her parents. That should be a bigger part of her character than a mention in response to her and Jay having sex. If that’s an expectation she’s placed on herself, it should have come up before she had sex with Jay. So far, what we’ve seen, Leia has a very open and comfortable relationship with her mom and her idea that she’d marry and fall in love with the first boy she dates should have come up in season 1 when Donna blows down the door with contraceptives for her daughter. It should have come up when she was having conflicting feelings for Jay and Nate, it should have come up when Nate and Leia were found out, it should have come up when Leia and Jay get back together, it should have come up when they were at the forest(?) party and Jay was going to tell Leia he loves her but she finds out he’s said it to many other women before, it should’ve come up when they decided they were ready to have sex together. An expectation of relationships and partners and what they mean to you especially when it’s something as big as “my parents were high school sweethearts and boy/girl next door that’s how I believe love works and how it’ll work for me” isn’t something you mention in passing especially at 15/16 and Leia is played naive and optimistic enough to be doe eyed and open about these hopes she has for romance.

You know, I’m all caught up on T9S now and I have major mixed feelings about part 3. I loved all the callbacks to T7S and I thought this part was actually funnier than the other two BUT I was perfectly content conveniently forgetting that they made Jay Jackie’s kid and I’m so mad that they brought Betsy in to remind us of that. I’m also pretty pissed off that they made Betsy a Laurie 2.0, there is NO WAY Brooke “Genius” Rockwell would ever raise her daughter in a way that she would behave that way. And yes that’s a slight jab at Kitty and Red (they were just too lean on her). I’m also kinda miffed they ignored that Midge left Bob and they hadn’t been together for 20 years? There were plenty of openings to make up a story about where she was or to say that she passed like Tanya Roberts, with the whole attic thing and Bob getting lost in the past and then Donna being torn between going to California with Eric like hello we have no reason to believe Midge ever left California after the show ended, why was that all ignored? Speaking of ignored, Betsy saying “except for those three weird years in the middle” in response to Jay saying his parents are still together was another piss off. And here I am wishing the original cast wasn’t a bunch of dickwads and we could have more cameos, there were so many good windups to some and because the cast are literal criminals and demons we couldn’t have any of that! But I am glad they brought Gwen’s dad in person, I was getting upset with the headcanons that she was Hyde’s daughter. Anyway, I guess there wasn’t much zenmasters in this post but I love them and they deserve justice.

A/N: I decided to make Cassie their family friend instead of their actual cousin to go along with the story.  But there might be a story twist a bit, but I'm still figuring it out. Nothing too dramatic kr anything, just who her parents r and stuff.

    We were back in Forman's basement playing uno. I was swinging my leg that was over my thigh and saw Ozzie place all his cards down.

  "Ozzie, boo that's not how you play. You're only supposed to drop one card." I frowned, confused as to what he was doing.

   He looked at me with a slight glare on his face as I gulped.

  "Excuse me?" I rolled my eyes at the boy and sighed.

    "Cool basement." Gwen said as I sat down in a chair next to the light skinned girl.

   "Yea man, it's dope." I agreed, I adjusted my sunglasses that were starting to fall when I tucked a piece of red hair in.

  "It's a dump." I took a swig of my cola that was resting on the table.

   "Ozzie man, manners." I hissed, but he just rolls his eyes at me.

   "Ozzie and I met last year in detention. Tell her what you did." Gwen said, getting excited. 

   "Chill out bro, you're gonna burn a hole in that chair." She slapped my hand, and I just gasped dramatically at her.

  "You didn't!" She just rolls her eyes at my dramaticness.

   "I told my math teacher his wife was cheating on him. She was making out with some guy at IHOP." I laughed, I would always laugh whenever Ozzie would tell us this story as Leia looked over at me like I'm crazy.

   "That's horrible." Leia said as I took another sip.

   "I know, IHOPE." He scoffed.

   "She could have done it somewhere else. Why iHOP? The lamest date ever, man. You know, maybe the government had something to do with this man. I mean, my old man would tell me some shit about them." I said, as Leia gives me a weird look.

  "What does the government have to do with ihop?" I just shrugged at Leia's question, not knowing the answer to her question.

   "I don't know, man." I laughed.

  The door to the basement opened and revealed my boyfriend, Nikki, and Nate.

   "Babe!" I jumped into his arms, my legs wrapping around his waist as he quickly caught me with a low grunt.

  "Ugh, please don't make out. I think I might gag." I rolled my eyes, but I kissed him anyways.

   "You will not believe what we found." Nate said he looked like a kid in a candy store.

  "You found a keg?" I asked.

    "Bro! You ruined the story, man!" I give him a fake pout as I dropped my feet back to the ground and ignored Nate's wines.

   "You don't get excited like that unless it has something to do with beer. And like I said, if it's a story about how you found a keg, I'd like to hear how you, my dear friend, how you found it." I skipped towards the couch, with Jay's hand in mine as I made him sit first and plant myself on his lap. 

   "Now, tell me. How did you find this tap?" I pat my lap waiting for Nate to start his story.

    "Because if this is just you telling us the story of you eating a McRib again, then I will be disappointed in you." I joked, as Nate looked at me with a scared look on his face.

   "Hey man, I thought it was gone forever!" I rolled my eyes and picked at the chip black nail polish on my nails.

    "Aw, you were scared, babe?" I groaned in annoyance, tilting my head back that was now resting on Jay's shoulder.

   Jay pats my stomach as he laughed at my dramaticness.

   "So awful to see those two." I leaned my face so my face was hiding in his neck away from their view.

   "Can you tell your story now, man?" I asked, but not facing their view as my eyes were closed getting bored.

  "So, we were just chilling in my van. Cassie was supposed to join us, but she ditched Jay for Gwen." I shrugged.

  "Because I'm her favorite." Gwen piped in.

  "Nu-huh, I am." Jay pouted, but I put my fingers through his hair and shook my head.

  "Sorry, babe, but Gwen is my favorite." I give him a kiss on his pouted lips that turned into a smile.

   "But at least you get kisses and other things." I whispered the other part that the others didn't hear.

   "Why don't I get the front seat?" Nikki asked, I looked up at Nate and then back to Jay.

  "Yea, Nate, why doesn't your girlfriend get the front seat?" I pressed.

  "I called shotgun." I scoffed at Jay and quickly got off of his lap.

  "So, if Nate called shotgun in your car, he'd get the front seat?" Jay gulped and looked at Gwen, but she just shrugged and had a smirk on her face. 

  "N-no?" He stuttered, I rolled my eyes at him, knowing that was a lie.

   "He's my best friend Cas." Nate claimed, I ignored him, and I just sat back down in my regular lawn chair.

  "You get no cuddles nor kisses for a week." Jay continued to protest, but I ignored him as Leia looked at me.

   "Wow." Leia said as I looked at her with scrunched eyebrows.

  "How do you do that? That was so brave." I snorted at the blonde girl.

  "Everyone is scared of her." Leia looked at me with a confused look on her face.

  "But you're so nice! How could you be scary?" I heard a noise coming from everyone in the room.

  "Last year, Cassidy freaking froze the football teams' clothes! And she pulled the fire alarm so she could get out of a math test!" I shrugged, crossing my arms over my chest, and crossed my leg over my thigh.

  "It's easy, man. You just gotta make sure the cameras can't see you. Also, I have so many fake doctors' notes, man. I think my old man would be proud of me." I joked, as I have a fake smile on my face.

  "I still don't know how you're with a Kelso. Your dad must've flipped, dude." I shrugged my shoulders.

   "Who's you're dad?" Leia asked.

   "Steven Hyde, but I kept my moms last name." Leia went wide-eyed as she looked at me.

   "Your dad is my dad's best friend! Dude, that's so weird!" I sighed. I continued to pick at the black nail polish off of my fingers.

   "Not really.  I don't see him, but he got arrested, and I hadn't seen him in a few years." I said, finishing my sob story.

  "But anyways, you were saying Nate?" I wanted him to finish his story.

   He was telling us how he got a keg from Mama's as I rolled my eyes.

  "How the hell did you get a keg? You two are awful liars! Jay, you're terrible at keeping up with a lie without stuttering." I said, pointing Jay out as he gives me a disbelief look.

   "Bro!" Nate said, offended. But they both started saying bro to each other.

  "I need a new boyfriend." I shook my head and looked to Ozzie, who placed a hand on my thigh.

  "It's okay, you'll learn for next time." I scowled at the boy, and he just gave me a sarcastic smile.

   "They were like this the whole time." I gasped, placing a hand over my heart and quickly rushing towards Nikki and giving her a hug.

   "I'm so sorry for you, babes." I pat her curly hair, but making sure not to ruin her curls.

   "Come on, babe. It's the fourth of July, miracle! With beer!" He exclaimed the last part to Nikki.

    "Then what are we waiting for! Let's tap that keg and get the party going!" Gwen said. I quickly agreed with her. Nate, on the other hand, looked worried.

   "We don't have a tap." I groaned, leaning on Gwen, who was sitting on a chair at the table.

  "You idiot! You got a keg with no tap!" I said, shaking my head at the boy.

   "Would a kiss make it better?" Nikki sarcastically asked me as I scowled at her playfully.

   "Do you have a mouthful of beer?" She shook her head.

  "Then no." I replied.

    "Well. I have something remotely better." Leia said.

I was sitting on Jay's lap, as I was staring at uno cards.  

   "Bro, pick a card." I giggled, looking at Gwen.

  "Bro, c'mon!" I whined. She caved and took a card.

   "I bet you it's a blue card!' I laughed when it was the right card.

  "Dude, that's so fuckin cool bro! How did you know?" I put an invisible key to my lips and zipped my mouth. But I ended up laughing, then I stopped, then I continued to laugh again. 

 

  Our high was over as Nate was now trying to bang the keg opened. I was yawning as I was sitting next to Ozzie as I was staring at Nate.

    "Nate versus beer. You know, I thought I trained you to he better kid. I thought that you'd learned better from me. I was so wrong." I tsk at the boy.

  "Cassie man, would you shut up! You're making me feel bad!" I rolled my eyes as I walked away. I made my way towards Jay, and leaned on his arm.

  "I thought you said no cuddles or kisses for a week?" A grin was plastered on his lips as I grumbled at him.

  "Shut up." He laughed as I got more comfortable on his arm.

   "Wait, why can't we just go back to Mama's and get a tap?" I looked at Leia with a terrified look.

  "Look, man, we all tried. I even let Jay flirt with her!" I said, Gwen shuddered in response.

   "It's true. And Cassie is very possessive of Jay." I nodded my head, agreeing.

   "It's true. But I'm not that bad, am I?" I looked to Nikki, who gives me a half and half shake with her hand.  

  "But you only do it when other girls flirt with him. Which is understandable." I let out a sigh of relief.

   "Even Cas tried. Jay had to swoop in and save the girl before she blew her cover. She almost got caught by the cops again." I nodded my head. A look of fright was on my face.

   "It's true, man. I almost died." Jay throws me into his arms and hugged me as I fakes sobbed.

   "I have failed at lying!" I cried, fake sobs racking my body.

  "It's okay, babe. It's not you. It was her." He assured me as I pulled away from his warm body.

   "Okay."Okay." He pushes some hair out of my face as he gives me a soft kiss on the lips.

  "But you haven't tried yet." Gwen said, pointing to Leia.

  "She's innocent! She's a Forman, man!" Gwen gives me a glare in response as I silenced myself.

  "Then help me, you could show me how to be braver. Or lie better, I mean I was on the debate team. Can't be that hard to lie." I snorted.

  "Debate team?" I asked, in return, a slap on my arm from Jay as I silenced myself.

   "Cas could help you. I mean, she's literally the best at stealing." Jay said as I placed a hand on my heart.

  "Awe babe, that's so sweet." I sneak my hand into his pocket as he continues to stare into my eyes as I stole a piece of gum.

   "See, expert." We all rolled our eyes at the boy.

  "You're just whipped." Gwen said to Jay, who scoffs in response and tried to deny.

  "Deny, all you want, babe, but it's true. You are." I said while blowing a bubble with the mint gum.

  "I want to be you when I grow up." I laughed at Leia, but she was one hundred percent serious.

   "Alright. So, here's the plan." And I knew just from then that Leia Forman will become a woman, and learn that she could be strong without worrying about others.

That ‘90s Show Part 3 - My Thoughts

Real life was real life’in this week 😅, so I’m just now able to share my thoughts re: the newest That ‘90s Show episodes.

Overall, another wonderful installment! The actors have definitely settled into their characters, and I’m invested in their storylines and relationships (beyond just Eric, Donna, and Leia). Reception to part 3 so far seems very positive. I’m going to remain hopeful it will get another season!

More thoughts beneath the cut:

It’s sort of stream of consciousness rambling, lol.

-Leia, my love. The wrestling storyline in episode 1 was funny. I loved seeing Leia’s persuasive, edgy side come out when she secured the autograph, much like back in the pilot when she got the tap from Mama. She’s really come into her own as a character this season.

-So much appreciation for the Doug Funnie and Porkchop cameos! 😆 As a child of the ‘90s, Doug was one of my favorite cartoons! And Red and Kitty’s Beanie Babies plot was… strange, lol, but funny. And it was nice to see them in cahoots. I knew Beanie Babies were going to make an appearance at some point, because they’re such a quintessentially ’90s thing. Remember how they gave away mini ones at McDonald’s for a while, and people went nuts? It was a strange time.

-Okay, the scene at the kitchen table with Red, Kitty, Leia and Donna after she broke the shower head genuinely had me cackling. And Donna gets another gold star mom award for the way she talked to Leia about it afterwards. I love how good of a mom she is. Hits me right in my feels. 🥹

-Jay and Leia… okay, probably an unpopular opinion but I just feel so lukewarm about them! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t dislike them, I don’t ship them, they’re fine, I just don’t feel emotionally connected to them. Their first time didn’t elicit any big feelings or emotions from me. Their cliffhanger at the end - meh, I don’t really care if they stay together or break up. I remain more interested in seeing Leia explore other relationships - with Gwen or Nate, for instance - but she didn’t have many storylines apart from those with Jay or her family this time. Maybe it was foreshadowing to have Leia admit she expects to have a life long love like her parents do, and her friends reminding her that’s not realistic at all…

-Betsy! She reminds me of Brooke a bit and also Laurie, but mostly feels like her own character. Her relationship with Nate also reminds me of Kelso/Brooke’s relationship and Kelso/Laurie’s, in turns. She is much smarter than him but seems bemused and oddly charmed by the simple Nate, ala Brooke. And she’s manipulative, dominant, and sex-positive, ala Laurie. The scene where Nate tried to break up with her and she said no (😂) literally mirrors the Kelso and Laurie one from T70S. I definitely believed her as a Kelso, but you can tell she has intelligence her brother does not (thanks, Brooke) and seems serious about college/school in addition to having sex. A good mix of her parents, overall, and I enjoyed seeing her interactions with Jay and all the Kelso family lore we learned about this season!

-Kelso family lore: Jay and Betsy’s quibble - “Dad stayed with MY mom!” shows some underlying resentment/competition between the siblings, and also reveals that Kelso and Jackie took a 3 year break at some point (which we already kind of knew, due to their multiple remarriages) during which Kelso went back to Brooke (unclear)? Jay’s line about the time the entire Kelso family went to therapy for 20 minutes and the therapist told them they’re all afraid to love themselves was interesting, too.

-Okay, it was actually very sweet how Kitty found Isaac for Ozzie. I’ve enjoyed his arc this season: his heartbreak over Etienne, finding a queer community, his horror over being the last virgin *lol*, and now his blossoming relationship with Isaac. He seems more confident about himself and his sexuality than ever before. And his dry sense of humor always makes me laugh.

-We got to meet Gwen’s dad! I enjoyed him, his backstory, and his interactions with both Sherri and Gwen. Hoping we might see him again. Also, this shuts down the ‘Hyde is Gwen’s dad’ theories for good.

-The Jay and (Not So) Silent Bob schtick is so-so to me, but I did laugh at how they were following ‘their kids’ Ozzie and Isaac at the movies 😂.

-We got some good Eric nuggets! Starting with Eric and Donna being the same height in their wedding pictures - which I would cut my pinky finger off to see, btw. He lands his dream job working with George Lucas on Skywalker Ranch (I looked it up, and yes it’s a real place) and writing a book about the new Star Wars movies. Gets him out of the picture more permanently, but still leaves the door open for him to visit/return for a holiday episode or something. Loved Donna’s conversation with him on the phone, and imagining her helping him get settled out in California and visiting. And then Kitty’s comment about Donna drooling on his chest when they sleep - 🥹. My favorite detail yet.

-(Did anybody else think of the scene in T70S where Eric and Donna were discussing going to premarital counseling and Donna said they’d learn things about each other, like for instance what if one day she gets a high paying job in California - will he move? And then Eric is like ‘Whoa, why can’t I be the one to get the high paying job?’)

-Oh my god, I loved the ending sequence of them all in the car, dressed like the T70S characters and imitating the opening credits. Loved, loved, LOVED. When Leia put her hands on the dashboard like Donna, I think my shipper heart exploded. 🥰

-Donna and Bob’s moment on the car was very sweet (as was Bob reminiscing over Midge - this feels like confirmation that she’s passed away in-universe). I also thought it was poignant how Donna realizes (and values) both Eric and Leia’s happiness and doesn’t want to take that away, yet feels lost herself and is thus having difficulty making this decision. And then ultimately, she decides to just go back and forth between her two favorite people. 🥰

-The Clueless fantasy!!!!! Yes. So much yes. (I really enjoyed all of the ‘90s references this season)

-Wow. Sherri really is a Laurie clone (*cough* replacement *cough*). The fact that she’s done it with everyone - including the judge at Kitty’s court hearing. She’s earnest and often well meaning, but trips over her words and her relationships. Red and Kitty have so much to teach her. It’s a very parental relationship. Really makes you think about what could have been…

-This season made me such a NikNate shipper. I was kind of starting to come around to them after part 2, but their arc at the end where Nate believes in her musical talent and sells his van to buy back her guitar really got me. Nate is really winning me over, in general. #OTP: You’ll Always Be My Baby

-Ooh, that cliffhanger! Will Donna let Leia stay in Point Place now? Will she have to go to Our Lady Of Perpetual Sorrow? Will Leia forgive Jay for stealing her grandma’s keys? Stay tuned to find out! 😁

Pulling around the corner onto Marie Drive, she smiled seeing the familiar streets, with her grandma standing on the curb (more jumping from foot to foot rather than standing).

"LEIA!" Kitty exclaimed, and thankfully was able to restrain herself until Leia had parked the car and had gotten out before she was smushed into a tight embrace.

"Hi Grandma," Leia smiled, waving with one hand to her grandfather, who simply nodded and headed back inside.

Kitty Forman pulled away, cradling her granddaughter's face between her hands. "Where are your friends?"

Leia gave her some what of a smile. "I don't know, but Gwen and Jay are working full time, Nikki and Nate are doing something. But, I've got to start studying for my Senior Year."

Kitty almost started tearing up. "My grandbaby's going to be a senior."

"I've got to go call dad, tell him I made it hear safe," Leia rolled her eyes at her dad's over protectiveness.

Once Leia hung up the phone, she put it back in its cradle, before heading upstairs to unpack her belongings.

As she moves her folded clothes from her suitcase to the small closet (which she had been grateful that Grandma allowed her to leave clothes here when she came to Point Place for the summer in 1995) so there wasn't much to go in the closet.

"New girl!" A voice exclaimed, Leia looked through the window and saw Gwen waving at her. "I'll call the gang. Your basement, 15 minutes!"

Gwen was quick to pick up her phone and call Nikki, Ozzie and Jay.

Nearly 15 minutes later, the gang was now hanging in the Forman's basement.

Nikki was sitting on one of the chairs, with her tongue down Nate's throat. Last year was the height of awkwardness for the gang, however when Leia talked to Nikki - the former made sure it was clear (that even if she did like Nate the way Nikki does, there was no way she was ever going to do something about it, because Nate was Nikki's boyfriend, and Jay's best friend).

Gwen, Leia and Jay were hanging upside down, their feet over the back of the sofa. Over the school year, Leia had decided to cut her once long hair, to follow the trend of must teenage girls in America - the Rachel haircut.

Whilst Ozzie sat in the last open chair, using his flip phone to message his Canadian boyfriend.

Typical of the gang, they had already opened the plastic bag Gwen had hid last summer.

Jay turned his head to look at Leia, who was sat in the middle. "Hey, girl."

Leia looked at Jay, her eyes getting heavy. "Hey, boy," she replied.

Jay took a deep breath. "I've missed you."

She smiled. "I've missed you too, Jay."

On the cusp of Leia's 18th birthday, there was a knock on her window and holding onto both the ladders and her windowsill, was Jay Kelso.

"Jay?" She closed her textbook and notebook then heading over to the window to let the young man who stole her heart, in. "What are you doing here?"

"There's something I've always wanted to tell you, but I've never had the courage to tell you. I wanted to tell you that first summer," Jay starts.

Leia looked at him with wide eyes. Not once did she question her feelings for Jay, she feels the same way about him at nearly 18, that she did at 14. "What?"

He was silent for a moment, his eyes bouncing back and forth between hers. "I know we haven't really been friends, like we were that summer, since '96 and I can never apologise enough. But, I can't keep this in forever. And I don't care what my dad says about girls. I know you. And I've liked you since the moment I met you. Looking over your shoulder saying 'Hey, boy'. But, I didn't know how much of an impact you would make on my life. Leia Anne Foreman, I love you."

She blinked, Jay had just laid his heart out for her, hoping that after everything they had been through - she would be willing to take a chance on him.

He also blinked repeatedly, nodded his head once then turning and making his way to her window so he could escape.

Mimicking their first kiss, she silently hurries over to him and kisses him.

When they pulled away, he pressed their foreheads together.

"I love you too, Jay."

ik no one watches That 90s Show and That 70s Show was so long ago its obscure anymore, but I have to talk about the parallels between Leia and Gwen and Eric and Donna and how that just fuels my ship for them more. Leia having Eric's old room and Gwen having Donna's old room, and them sitting in the same spots in the basement. There's so many parallels don't get me wrong I LOVE Jay but Leia and Gwen would be so cute together
