Royal Roleplay | Daisy & Nate

Daisy was poised in the empty playroom in one of the school’s free-to-use dungeon spaces. Her wild imagination allowed her to imagine it as her royal chambers. She was dressed in a light, cream-colored, sheer nightgown that barely covered her curves she’d borrowed from the theatre’s costume department. It had a plunging neckline which showed off her ample cleavage and her long red hair was gathered elegantly up into an up-do. She was poised on the bed at the far-centered end of the room, looking to the door as she waited for Nate - her knight, to arrive. She’d orchestrated what she had to admit was a pretty thoroughly thought-out story for their scene and she was excited to play it out. Of course, she didn’t expect Nate to sell the character perfectly - that wasn’t important to her. It was sweet that he was entertaining her whims at all, so whatever happened, however it happened, she knew they’d have a good time. For her part, though - she was committed in full.

The door opened revealing Nate in the ‘armor’ Daisy had picked out for him. A harness over his bare chest, metal shoulder pads that extended down his upper arms, and a leather skirt of sorts that left little to the imagination. In her fantasy, this was the norm - all the hunky knights sauntered around the kingdom in next to nothing and there was nothing wrong with that. Daisy stood from the bed, her eyes dipping to his chest in a moment of weakness before she corrected herself and met his gaze. “Aah, Sir Nate. Thank you so much for coming.” As he approached her, she could feel the heat rising between them. The dim lighting in the room cast shadows on their faces, giving an air of mystery and seduction. Daisy breathed in deeply, taking in Nate’s masculine scene and feeling her innate desire grow ever stronger. She gazed deeply into his eyes, doing what she could to convey her love for him as words failed. “Tonight…is my last night before I’m to leave to marry…and I…I couldn’t sleep.” @dom-i-nate

Toeing the Line | Nate & Veronica | 8/30/23

Dressed in nothing but her (very) wet, lace panties and matching bra, covered by a skimpy little black dress from last season and pumps in her signature shade of deep violet, Veronica strode confidently from her suite up to the Dominant's wing until she found Nate's door. She checked her reflection in a mirror affixed to the hallway wall - her long black hair was held back with a purple ribbon that matched her shoes. Pony-tails weren't her go-to, but the gossip mill informed her that Nate liked his female-presenting submissives to have their hair tied back, and Veronica Lodge was all about making a good first impression - adhering to a Dominant's standard without them having to vocalize it would certainly accomplish that. Satisfied with what she saw - like she ever wasn't - Veronica dutifully knelt on the floor and knocked on Nate's door before bowing her head in a classic display of submission, no matter how impatient she was for him to manhandle her out of her dress like he'd implied he would. @dom-i-nate

As they step out, Daisy shivers slightly as the contrastingly cold air hits her bare skin. She smiled appreciatively as Nate draped the warm, fluffy towel around her shoulders, which she pulled tighter around herself to calm the shivering. Daisy nodded in instant understanding. "Not at all, Sir," she said softly. "Do whatever you need to do." Daisy disciplined herself not to let it show, but watching him standing there, dripping wet, a towel hung low on his hips, does nothing to stifle the heat between her thighs that remained from having spent the better half of thirty minutes lathering that body up. "I'll just wait here for you, Sir," Daisy added with a small smile, leaning in for a quick kiss before stepping around him to the mirror to properly dry herself off while she waited for him to come back.

"You sure?" he asked, feeling her thumb rub against him. He sighed deeply, "Yeah, you might be right," he agreed, reaching behind her to turn off the water. They stepped out and he grabbed them both towels, draping one over her shoulders. "Alright, would I be a mondo jerk right now if I said I needed to go check on my boy?"

Nate Mantel grew up in the hub of Detroit, Michigan, with an overbearing Dominant father who expected nothing but perfection from his children, and he would stop at nothing to get it - nothing. Nate spent many nights icing black eyes and bandaging up cuts when he didn't make the grades his father expected. His mother was the picture-perfect submissive house wife who was always better seen and not heard. So other than siblings, Nate was on his own.

Enter - Blair. His high school sweetheart. The only person who took time to understand him, to hold him when his world was crashing down, who supported his swimming dreams like no one else did. They spent nearly every moment of High School together, and eventually in their Junior year, Blair discovered they were pregnant. Though he should have been terrified, Nate was over the moon. The love he had in him was enough to look past everything he'd grown up with and he was so excited. But all that brought on a new nightmare when Blair was eight months pregnant and things went severely wrong. A night of unknown, pain, and bleeding, ended in a late term miscarriage that brought the strong man to his knees.

Things changed after that. Nate and Blair weren't as close as they once were, Nate trying to deal with the pain on his own, shielding his love from it, only resulting in pushing her away, and in to the arms of his best friend. Nate had been medicating in his own way, first with drinking, then discovering pot, amphetimines, and eventually coke as a way to keep going and numb the pain. Finding his love lying in bed with his best friend was the icing on the cake, and at that point Nate snapped and spiraled faster than he was prepared for.

The summer before and all of his Senior year ended up in a whirl wind of parties, one night stands, and drug induced amnesia he couldn't pull away from. But one night, he got real stupid, and got behind the wheel of a car, resulting in nearly killing another child who was riding their bike on the side of the road Nate was traveling down. He knew enough was enough, and he went to rehab, got clean and went on to the institute in Lima, which brought on a whole new set of issues.

Last time at the institute, he found a claim, and even a second as well as a newfound look on love. He was doubled claimed, engaged, and 4 years sober. And one night at a party, someone thought it would be fun to spike the punch bowl, ending Nate's sobriety. It was harder to stay clean after that - the single drink here and there, a hit of pot or a line of coke no one knew about. His second claim dissolved and when the school went under new administration, he was told his first claim wasn't viable and attempted to dissolve it. At that point, Nate and his claim left the school to avoid dissolution.

But things didn't get better. Nate's addiction took hold of him once again, and he was back to using and his claim finally had enough and handed Nate an ultimatum - get clean or lose him. Try as he might, Nate was done. His olympic dreams were gone, his engagement was broken, and his claim found someone else to keep him safer than Nate could anymore. So, Nate continued on his spiral, fielding the random calls from his father telling him he was useless and going no where. But, as his 25th birthday is just days away, it was time to return and try to salvage something of his tragic life.

What are your feelings about the mark you have received?

-It makes sense, honestly. And I've already started the classes and training and stuff. Plus, I has a dual claim for over a year. So, the mark is good, let's move on.

How do your feelings on the system compare to your parents’ feelings on it?

- I don't agree as much as my dad does, but I have similar feelings on it over all. I see the point of the system, and I think it's worth following it.

Where do you see yourself after you graduate?  

- Honestly, I'm hear to try to figure all that out. Things have changed since the last time I had this interview. At this point, I'm just hoping to be alive.

How do you feel about authority?

- Authority has it's purpose. Mostly, I'll be polite and courteous towards authority. I also think I have authority and I like people to know that.

In my heart, I know he'll get through this somehow...but my brain's sort of fighting with my heart because the longer he stays unconscious...I guess, medically, there's less of a chance of him making a full recovery, which is super scary...but I'm gonna do my best to keep listening to my heart, 'cause it's never failed me before. Do you...have a lot of experience with grief and anxiety, Sir?

I'd bet. I'm sure there will be good news, Owen. Sam's too strong and too stubborn to let anyone else win. Grief and anxiety has a way of making the essentials like breathing and eating and sleeping impossible.

Yeah, there is that, too. Which is a work in progress all on its own. You were willing to help others during a fucked up situation you were included in. Hell, you even extended the offer to me if I wanted it. That says a lot about the type of person you must be.

Yeah, apparently it requires a balance I'm just now getting used to. That's nice of you to. say, you seem pretty decent as well. Which is never a bad thing in my expereince.

Hey, uh, so I should introduce myself. I'm Connor Mantle. A stupidly handsome man just gave me the Switch mark, which is...a complete surprise. Was not expecting that. I'm guessing you all know the drill, but that means subs need to call me a title. I don't think I mind what title, as long as it's respectful.

I’ve always been curious about Kate bishops background and would love to hear a paraphrased version if ur okay with it

[Absolutely I can! Just a little disclaimer, I'm doing this mostly from memory, so I may get a few things wrong. But I promise the gist is there, and this has gotten way too long, so uh... part one? I guess? I didn't even get to the vampires. If people are into this. I'll keep going.]

Okay, let’s start with Kate’s backstory.

The Bishop family has issues. Eleanor, Kate’s mom, is distant but portrayed as a generally good person. She and her husband Derek have an estranged relationship. She travels a lot and is regarded as an activist throughout her life until her untimely death when Kate is still just a kid.

Kate develops admiration for her father. He’s a publishing magnate but it’s soon revealed that he has ties to the crime world. Kate, despite her young age, follows her father to a meeting with El Matador. While there, she gets captured by the crime lord to be held for ransom.

This is where she see’s Clint for the first time, who saves her with the rest of the avengers. She took an instant liking to him because he was the only human on the team without advantages. At this point, she does make Clint her role model and starts to distance herself from her family to focus on activism like Eleanor.

Kate didn’t’ truly start training in combat until she was attacked in Central Park. This kicked off her love of self-defense. She originally felt isolated and in some cannon media, this moment in the park still haunts her beyond belief. (Young Avengers Special #1 [2005]  is a great comic that’s stand alone & shows the mentorship between Jessica Jones and Kate. TW for SA.)

Kate has an older sister that’s been completely written out of the MCU adaptation. Her name is Susan, and she doesn’t have the greatest relationship with Kate, they’re not openly hostile, but they don’t enjoy each other either. Still, Kate is in Susan’s wedding party.

During the wedding, the church comes under fire and the Young Avengers swoop in to save the day. But they awkwardly become hostages themselves and Kate uses one of Patriots throwing stars to get them out of the situation before the police show up.

Kate very ungracefully demands to become a part of the Young Avengers (The original team is: Cassie Lang, Eli Bradley, Tommy Shepard, Billy Kaplan, Nate Richards, and Teddy Altman). Kate originally doesn’t have a hero identity, so she raids the Avengers Mansion and dawns Mockingbirds staves and mask, swordsman’s sword and belt and Hawkeyes abandoned bow.

Captain America and Iron man were not happy about the team and demanded that they disband. But eventually gave in after the Young Avengers refused to back down. Kate was the only one to stand up to Steve and demand that they get better training. He agreed and put Jessica Jones in charge of the team. This is when Kate becomes Hawkeye. Steve gives her the title and the bow. She’s the unofficial leader of the Young Avengers.

What about Clint?

Dude is dead in the Young Avengers run. Clint makes his valiant return in the massive Civil War event that Marvel comics created. He was resurrected and is absolutely pissed when he finds out that Steve gave his name and his bow away.

Clint actually attacks Kate while she’s on a date with Eli Bradley in Central Park. He’s officially Ronin at this point and is impressed by Kate’s skills after she breaks into his place to steal her bow back. He unofficially (but also totally officially) allows her to take the mantle.

The Children’s Crusade

I’m skipping a lot of small side quests that Kate takes (even though they’re a lot of fun) because Children’s Crusade is possibly the most important part of her journey, and by the looks of it, is the basis for where the MCU is planning to go in the next few years.

Kate has a really strong friendship with Billy Kaplan, aka Billy Maximoff. He’s the strongest magic being to ever inhabit earth and when his powers become dangerous the Avengers decide to lock him up. That didn’t slide with Kate, and they ended up breaking him out of the tower and entering alternate timelines in search of Billy’s mom- Wanda Maximoff.

This was pure, time-warp chaos. Wanda had forgotten who she was and was about to marry Doctor Doom when the Young Avengers showed up and pulled her out of it. She regained her powers and her memories, coming to terms with Billy and Tommy being her sons.

Once in their original timeline, a massive fight breaks out between the Avengers and the x-men. It’s a whole thing that ends up killing Cassie Lang. Her death ends up disbanding the original Young Avengers who go their separate ways to come to terms with how dangerous being a hero really is.

Matt Fraction? Matt Fraction.

Listen, if you’re looking for the inspiration behind the general vibe of the show Hawkeye, this is the run for you. If you read anything from Kate’s comic journey, let it be this. You don’t need any prior knowledge to Kate or Clint to enjoy this one and the artwork heavily inspired the intro to the show.

In this series, Clint is the owner of an apartment building that’s since been taken over by the tracksuit mafia. Kate and Clint have an established friendship and the dynamic is very much like the show. But grittier. The series leans into Clint’s deafness and Kate’s trauma. It’s a basis for their relationship.

Los Angeles, baby

Kate goes to LA a lot. It’s her home away from New York and her arcs there are some of my favorite (it’s a guilty pleasure, honestly). During her run with Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye, she has a particularly bad fight with Clint. She takes Lucky and jets off to the beach to find her niche.

Kate becomes a very cool, very chill private eye for her first solo run; Hawkeye Private Eye. While she does eventually go back to New York to help out Clint, she starts her own business in Los Angeles where she teams up with Jessica Jones and Laura x23. Very fun, very goofy series.
